The Innkeeper (Treasure Planet Short)
Jim wasn't here.
That was the first 'Oh-No' scenario that registered in his mind.
The second came in the form of two steely blue eyes (so much like Jim's) icing him to the polished new floorboards of the inn he stood in.
"Oh, you're John Silver?" Sarah Hawkins said before she crossed her arms, one holding a dishrag. A slow, and strangely devious, smile spread across her face as she examined him - this was definitely Jim's mother. Unlike Jim, however, full of spunk and attitude that Silver could swat away, Sarah Hawkins was monumental in a quieter way. Within that one look, Silver felt five years shaved off his life.
Because, really, what do you do when you go looking for that one pup you accidentally took a liking to years ago and find yourself, instead, standing in front of his mother whose inn you once burned to the ground during your gold-frenzied days?
"Jim's not here right now. He had orders from the Navy to ship out toward Waystation Grant," she explained, understanding his quiet question. "But he told me he should be home in a week or so."
This was a trap. No, an invitation. She was inviting him to stay. Why?
Because this was a trap.
She grinned, "Why don't you just start with lunch, Mister Silver?"
Silver removed his tricorn hat with a flourish of his robotic arm as he gave a small bow. He was nothing if not a charmer.
"A meal sounds lovely, Missus Hawkins."
"Just Sarah is fine," she laughed as she led him to a nearby table in front of the bay windows overlooking the road. Could she sense his anxiety? His sudden desire to run? Or was she just a fantastic host? Both could be true.
"If we be sharin' first names already, then call me John," he said, settling in.
"Very well, John." And she smiled again. A rare rose in the thorny underbrush that was Silver's life.
Maybe it wouldn't hurt to stay while he waited for Jim.
He began to reach into his pockets to assess his current financial situation for the meal and boarding when Sarah again waved him off.
"I've got a better idea - if you do plan to stick around for a week, why don't you help me with some projects I have around here? Jim tells me you're a good cook."
There it was. The gentle coercion to stay still with the promise of an exit.
"Ah, heh," Silver rubbed his massive chin, an awkward laugh escaping him. "I've served aboard many a ship with hungry crews, aye."
"Good. Tomorrow morning, you can help me serve breakfast, but tonight I want to hear more about how you met my son." Then she spun on her heel to deal with a particularly noisy customer near the back while Silver released a resigned chuckle. The turn of her countenance alone was both mirthful and cutting. Jim's mother, sweet as she may be, was no fool. She was definitely playing with him. Trap indeed.
"Jim, Lad, ye better be worth it," Silver muttered.
But in his heart he knew Jim already was.

James Pleiades "Jim" Hawkins, also known as the "Rogue Warrior of Montressor", is the only son of Sarah Hawkins, the proprietor of the Benbow Inn, and one of the first off-world members of the Autobot Resistance. Jim is a very adventurous, rebellious, and caring young lad. At first, Jim is stoic and guarded, but as time goes on, he begins to open up, and in the end, he becomes a much more open, confident and happier young man, bearing a side that is very brave, selfless, strong-willed, independent, and loyal to his allies. He is also friendly and willing to help strangers, especially if they are injured or lost, showing that he's kind and compassionate towards animals. He is also shown to be fun-loving, a jokester, sarcastic, mischievous, charismatic, and a bit of a dreamer. He is also usually honest, yet quite private, and hardly ever lies; he only lies if he feels that he really has to, but can also be very sweet, innocent and polite, and cares greatly for his allies and will protect and defend them from anything and anyone. Jim is also very forgiving, shown when he forgave Silver for his antagonistic actions, particularly when Silver chose to save Jim's life instead of Flint's treasure, also allowing Silver to sneak away in lieu of outing him, showing that Jim has completely forgiven Silver and accepted him as his friend and father-figure again. Ultimately, even with his few flaws and his bad-boy exterior, Jim has got a heart of gold and refuses to embrace the typical greedy and ruthless pirate life like his pirate enemies. He's also very intelligent for a lad of his age (as in so intelligent that he is very skilled in mechanical engineering, showing this when he was able to build his own solar surfer all by himself at age 8 and he was able to fix up the late Captain Flint's spaceship in just a few minutes, come age 15). He is also pragmatic and logical, more than people give him credit for. Despite his great intelligence and pragmatism, he can do very stupid and reckless things, but regardless of his reckless side, Jim can be very cautious and serious if the situation presented itself. He likes playing around with Morph, but he can get annoyed by the little floating pink blob of mischief sometimes, and the same can be said for B.E.N., who gets on Jim's nerves fairly often, especially when B.E.N. talks too much or touches Jim too much. Nevertheless, Jim does consider B.E.N. a good friend and a useful sidekick (also, Jim learned to accept B.E.N.'s hysterical and annoying habits somewhat and even enthusiastically hugs B.E.N. back when B.E.N. hugs him for saving everyone from Treasure Planet's destruction). Divergence: After Jim saved everyone, they landed on another world: Cybertron. Dr. Doppler mentioned that most of the Cybertronians died out after the Earth War of 2006, but Jim always wanted to see it. They make planetfall, but Jim and Silver realize that they crossed into another reality, upon being fired at by the Decepticons. It wasn't until an unlikely alliance of characters brought Jim and the others to Nova-Terria, an amalgamation of worlds, using Montressor's technology to operate as computers, phones, everything. The others make themselves at home, with Jim using a Solar Surfer he created out of junked-out parts and a Crystallic Fusion Power-Cell, which he realized was just a giant battery. He often runs into a spot of trouble with the Decepticons, so much so that Team Epsilon, with Pursuit in command, saves him, but Jim does take some Decepticon tech and repurposing it for the Autobots, because he knows now: the war's still going on...and he's just been drafted into it, to save ALL realities. (Note: This is my sort of AU, and I'd not like anyone stealing ideas from me.)

Dark Livesey AU, but Dark Livesey still retains his humanity.
(I think I'll call it the Dark Livesey alt AU.)
Ever since getting cursed, he's slowly been changing, and his appearance becomes more and more strange every day.
On the day he got cursed, he started to get dark lines under his eyes. No matter how much sleep he got, the lines never faded.
Tumblr media
One day, he woke up with unusually sharp fangs and realised he had to stop grinning so Jim doesn't get scared by his teeth.
Unlike in the original AU, he really doesn't want to kill or eat people and let his cursed side take over. He will distance himself from others when the takeover happens.
While he tries to avoid his dark side controlling him, the scent of blood will instantly trigger it.
He's been vegetarian ever since the curse to distract himself from his intrusive thoughts of cannibalism.
But it's never enough and he's always hungry. He's never had human flesh before, but he instinctively knows that eating regular chicken or pork isn't enough and needs something else to satisfy his hunger.
One night, whilst Livesey was chilling inside the Admiral Benbow, Jim accidentally cuts himself in the kitchen while he was chopping vegetables and preparing supper for the inn guests.
"Ow..."
"Oh, Jim! Are you oka-
Livesey picks up the smell and... his cursed instincts take over. Blinded by his craving for flesh, he slowly approaches Jim menacingly and drools over the thought of eating him.
He's just about to grab him when...
Tumblr media
He manages to snap out of it in time before he grabs hold of Jim, freaking out and disgusted by his actions. He then backs away and quickly grabs something else to try and get rid of the urges.
And poor oblivious Jim just turns around to see Livesey right up to his face and is like:
"Huh what happened 🤓??
Oh hello, Doctor."
Anyway, this was just a silly AU I came up with because I wasn't a fan of Dark Livesey's original backstory with him being all crazy and violent lmaooo. I'd love to explore this AU more.

@icarussmicarus I blame you for this
My so far one and only hashed-out Treasure Planet fan fic idea: nearly the same plot and events as the movie, *except*, it takes place a few years earlier, with a smaller, scrawnier, Still Figuring Out His Rebellious Teenager Mode Jim, who is NOT allowed to go into space on a mad treasure hunting voyage with just Delbert Doppler for supervision.
So his mom Sarah goes too.
Maybe Jim's dad left earlier than in canon, maybe the Benbow Inn has only been up and running a short time rather than being an established business, but either way, the kid is still in his earlier days of solar surfing and skirting the edges of the law (rather that blasting clear over those edges by his mid-teens).
Old Billy Bones shows up badly injured. The map is handed over. He dies, the pirates show up, the inn burns down.
But when Jim manages to unlock the sphere and reveal Treasure Planet's location, eagerly declaring that they can go and get Flint's Trove and rebuild, Sarah absolutely, positively, categorically refuses to let him take off into the unknown like a certain long gone husband without any guarantee of coming back.
...and she holds out for a good ten minutes, too, until both young Jim and Doctor Doppler manage to convince her to turn it into a family adventure.
I can see her awkwardly attempting to hold a conversation with Captain Amelia, hitting it off slightly better with the straightforward Mister Arrow, and settling into the kitchen with Long John Silver with minimal fuss despite Jim's wariness towards the man. There's the rough period of adjustment, of course, as the outsiders struggle to find there footing, but soon enough... There's a night where Silver's telling stories for the crew, putting his prosthetic arm to great effect, and at one point he starts in on a legend that Sarah actually knows. So, at a key moment, she steps up to his table and in her best bedtime story acting voice, participates. It turns into a great act, Silver easily going with the change, and between the two of them the gathered crew members are roaring with laughter soon enough. Even Jim's delighted by the show, and finally starts to come out of his sullen shell a bit more. The day he and Silver set out on a brief jaunt in one of the lifeboats and come back with matching grins is the day Sarah finally, finally, starts to feel she made the right choice.
And then they're caught in the grip of a collapsing star.
Everything gets battened down, all hands secured with lifelines, Sarah gets a momentary glimpse of Silver bracing himself over Jim just before they're pulled into darkness- and that final burst of energy carries them clear of the black hole. There's cheering, relief, high spirits... up until it's revealed they lose Mister Arrow.
Sarah abruptly feels the grief tenfold again. Of losing her inn, losing her husband, feeling so close to losing Jim... that night she has her first heartfelt conversation with Silver, actually telling him about the series of unfortunate events that led to her and Jim being on this voyage, and talking to him proves to be just as cathartic as venting to Delbert, maybe even a little more-so. He's honest with her in return (or as honest as the secret captain of a pirate crew can be at that moment), and the bridge of trust grows a little wider.
So of course I intend to be extra mean and make the punches hit even harder once the deception is revealed. The pirates stage their mutiny, Amelia, Doppler, Sarah and Jim (with stowaway Morph) barely escape in a lifeboat, and only after crash-landing on the planet below do they find out the map got left behind.
B.E.N is a blessing, providing them with a safe place to rest. When Silver shows up with his flag of parley, Sarah is the one to go out and speak to him, to snarl her anger and throw some of his own words back in his face. They don't part on good terms.
As night falls, Jim quietly asks what they're going to do. Sarah strokes his hair and promises they'll figure it out.
When B.E.N reveals the hidden passageway, Sarah orders Jim to stay put and stand guard for the others. She sneaks back up to the Legacy, engages in a frantic fight with bug-face, just barely, barely managing to trick him into cutting his own lifeline while the anti-gravity is deactivated, to go float away into the vast darkness of space just as he doomed Mister Arrow.
The map is secured. It seems all might turn out well after all. But then she gets back, to find the pirates have snuck into B.E.N's home. Delbert and Amelia are bound and gagged; Jim too, but he's still fighting, still trying to kick at the pirates holding him up.
Silver takes the map.
Silver can't open the map.
Silver tries to order Sarah to open it instead, and when she says she can't, he pulls out his pistol and aims it at Jim.
For a heart-stopping moment she can't speak, but then Sarah's fury comes flooding back and she yells that her son is the one who knows how to open the damn thing so put the weapon down. It gets turned on her instead, when Jim's cut loose, in order to force the boy to cooperate.
All four prisoners get brought along, mother and son kept out of arm's reach of one another until they reach the map's destination, and Jim figures out how to open the portal into the planet's core, into Flint's Trove itself. At that point, faced with mountains of treasure, the pirates pretty much stop caring, and both of them along with B.E.N are able to sneak off towards a decrepit old boat.
But of course, the booby trap goes off. All that treasure starts sliding away, the planet beginning to shake apart. Rather than race for the exit like his panicking crew, Silver sees what Sarah and Jim are doing, trying to get the small craft operational, and sees that as a good moment to step in himself.
Until Sarah comes at him with a sword, anyway.
There's a moment where she is very much about to stab him, only for the boat to get hit and send everybody tumbling. Jim, smaller and lighter, stops falling sooner. So it's Sarah, who goes falling off a newly made cliff, fragments of the core continuing to retract and separate and leaving her with no clear way to climb back up. Jim tries to reach for her, yelling desperately, and Sarah screams back that he is not allowed to come down over the edge after, he needs to run, to get out of there, NOW!
The last bit of metal she's clinging to slides into a sheer surface. Sarah drops.
And Silver catches her.
---
I'm still fiddling with their grand escape from the exploding planet and what happens after, what sort of ending would feel the most satisfying after the moments of apology and reconciliation and if you ever point a weapon at my son again, Silver, then so help me moment that I *have* to include. Maybe Sarah rebuilds the inn, with a certain cook hired on. Maybe she decides the space-faring life wasn't so bad, and decides to go see more distant stars with Jim by her side. However it turns out, the Hawkins pair are sure to have some more adventures together.

ANYWAY. When Flint finishes killing Joji (who never got a fucking line, btw fuck you producers) and straightens up to see Silver outlined against the horizon looking straight at him, you understand why Billy Bones dropped dead at the Admiral Benbow Inn.

plotting call - assassin event
Below the cut is a plotting call/starter call for the Assassin Event! Since some of my threads are new or important I won’t be dropping all of them, so for this event I’ll be CAPPING AT 3 STARTERS PER CHARACTER for now! If we have a thread already that you just wish to transition then please save these slots for others! Please reply to this post with who you’d like as a pair for a thread, or message me on discord if you want to plot something specific! Thank you :)
Megara
Megara is trying to act like everything is normal for the most part. She is in alert mode though, seeing what's going on around DC, so eventually she'll seek shelter somewhere. But for now I have her as out and about. POSSIBLE PLOTS: hiding together || acting like normal || being paranoid together/about each other || making a joke out of it || thriving in chaos || hiding others || helping the injured/dying || staying home and facetiming STARTERS: 1/3 (Zhuyin/masqce)
Jim Hawkins
Jim is trying to act normal pretty much, he's trying to keep a cool head even though things seem chaotic. If he sees someone is hurt he'll definitely try to help if he can. And I'm sure he would probably help turn the Benbow Inn into a Safe House of sorts, though I'm not sure how well that would go to be honest. POSSIBLE PLOTS: hiding together || acting like normal || being paranoid together/about each other || making a joke out of it || thriving in chaos || hiding others || helping the injured/dying || staying home and facetiming STARTERS: 1/3 (Rose/vcndetta)
Lilo Pelekai
Lilo is scared, okay?! BUT she's also concerned about her loved ones for sure, so she's probably impulsively trying to find them among the chaos. She'd be avoiding the dead or dying for fear of seeing something she doesn't want to, to be honest. So she'll mostly be trying to ask others for help locating people she can't find, searching the shelters and around town. POSSIBLE PLOTS: hiding together || acting like normal || being paranoid together/about each other || making a joke out of it || thriving in chaos || hiding others || helping the injured/dying || staying home and facetiming STARTERS: 0/3
Louise Belcher
Louise may love chaos but, well, not the murder-y kind. And while she knows she's a pretty good sneak, she's also not stupid enough to just be out and about during all of this. So she's going to be locked in her home, or at a shelter, thank you very much. If she trusts you, she might let you hide with her. POSSIBLE PLOTS: hiding together || acting like normal || being paranoid together/about each other || making a joke out of it || thriving in chaos || hiding others || helping the injured/dying || staying home and facetiming STARTERS: 1/3 (Bob/hiddenpxpercuts)
Vanessa Shelly
Vanessa is a police officer, so she is doing her job still. Patrolling, trying to help wherever she can. She's taking this seriously, and she wants to help people, but it does make her brain itch... She likely is having a hard time mentally seeing any carnage. She could probably use someone to lean on. POSSIBLE PLOTS: hiding together || acting like normal || being paranoid together/about each other || making a joke out of it || thriving in chaos || hiding others || helping the injured/dying || staying home and facetiming STARTERS: 0/3
Alice Kingsleigh
Alice is my curious one, so in this situation, she's very much kicked into Champion of Wonderland mode. She's going around, probably armed for her own protection with a knife if I had to guess, and trying her best to help others. She's not sure what's going on, but she's doing her best to at least do something. POSSIBLE PLOTS: hiding together || acting like normal || being paranoid together/about each other || making a joke out of it || thriving in chaos || hiding others || helping the injured/dying || staying home and facetiming STARTERS: 0/3
Mary Jane Watson
Mary Jane is honestly pretty smart, and will pick up on the dangerous vibe around town fairly fast. Now, does this mean she can't end up in trouble before getting home? Not at all. But once she does get home safe, yeah, she's definitely going to be staying there, maybe helping hide those she trusts. Or maybe even hiding with them at their place. POSSIBLE PLOTS: hiding together || acting like normal || being paranoid together/about each other || making a joke out of it || thriving in chaos || hiding others || helping the injured/dying || staying home and facetiming STARTERS: 0/3
Jennifer Check
Jennifer is definitely thriving. She's having a ton of fun. She basically sees this as a free murder party, so it's all a blast to her. She's going around having a good old time watching others be turned into monsters for once. She's basically feeling very validated and justified in her own actions. So she's probably taunting people and scaring them or just acting totally chill for the most part. POSSIBLE PLOTS: hiding together || acting like normal || being paranoid together/about each other || making a joke out of it || thriving in chaos || hiding others || helping the injured/dying || staying home and facetiming STARTERS: 0/3
Abigail
Abigail is most likely being smart and staying hidden for the most part, whether at home with others she trusts or in a shelter. She'll help if she sees someone in need as much as she can, but for the most part she's kicked into self-preservation mode. POSSIBLE PLOTS: hiding together || acting like normal || being paranoid together/about each other || making a joke out of it || thriving in chaos || hiding others || helping the injured/dying || staying home and facetiming STARTERS: 0/3
Hans Westergaard
Hans is surprisingly not feeling murderous. He hasn't really met anyone he wants to murder now that there's opportunity to, sadly, so he's probably just chillin with his horses to be honest. POSSIBLE PLOTS: hiding together || acting like normal || being paranoid together/about each other || making a joke out of it || thriving in chaos || hiding others || helping the injured/dying || staying home and facetiming STARTERS: 0/3
Misa Amane
Misa suspected at first maybe this was Kira's doing, and then when it seemed too random she thought maybe that someone else had a hold of a death note. But the more chaotic things got, the more she realized it's something else entirely. So she's hiding out at the moment for the most part! POSSIBLE PLOTS: hiding together || acting like normal || being paranoid together/about each other || making a joke out of it || thriving in chaos || hiding others || helping the injured/dying || staying home and facetiming STARTERS: 0/3
Melody
Melody is very confused. She's never experienced anything like this before. She will most likely be hiding by water, either pools or the different bodies of water deep enough to swim in found in DC, like the basin, that way she can make a quick getaway or defend herself using the water to her advantage. POSSIBLE PLOTS: hiding together || acting like normal || being paranoid together/about each other || making a joke out of it || thriving in chaos || hiding others || helping the injured/dying || staying home and facetiming STARTERS: 0/3
Evelyn Serpeni
Evelyn is not feeling threatened, given her supernatural status as a vampire. She knows she's fast, and her ability to see people's memories definitely will come in handy for this event. She's not really helping anyone, maybe even taking advantage of this to have quick snacks and stay fed. POSSIBLE PLOTS: hiding together || acting like normal || being paranoid together/about each other || making a joke out of it || thriving in chaos || hiding others || helping the injured/dying || staying home and facetiming STARTERS: 0/3
Marie
Marie is terrified, truth be told. So she is definitely hiding out, most likely either in her home with someone she trusts, or she's in a shelter. She wants to feel safe and not alone. POSSIBLE PLOTS: hiding together || acting like normal || being paranoid together/about each other || making a joke out of it || thriving in chaos || hiding others || helping the injured/dying || staying home and facetiming STARTERS: 0/3
Violet Bridgerton
Violet's first priority is her husband and children's safety. So she was immediately on the phone as quickly as she could manage to call each and every one of them to make sure they were somewhere safe, or to come stay with her and Edmund. Other than that she's just been hiding out. If someone were to come to her for help with hiding or injuries, she would of course help them too. POSSIBLE PLOTS: hiding together || acting like normal || being paranoid together/about each other || making a joke out of it || thriving in chaos || hiding others || helping the injured/dying || staying home and facetiming STARTERS: 0/3
Chiaki Nanami
Chiaki is using this as an excuse to stay shut in doing nothing but playing video games, I promise you. And if she trusts you, she might let you hide with her and use the video games as a good distraction for the both of you. POSSIBLE PLOTS: hiding together || acting like normal || being paranoid together/about each other || making a joke out of it || thriving in chaos || hiding others || helping the injured/dying || staying home and facetiming STARTERS: 0/3
Miu Iruma
Miu is of course a cocky fool, so I'm sure she invents some sort of weapon and arms it and goes about her business with it on her at all times, ready for anything. She's probably showing it off to anyone who will listen and being a total brag. POSSIBLE PLOTS: hiding together || acting like normal || being paranoid together/about each other || making a joke out of it || thriving in chaos || hiding others || helping the injured/dying || staying home and facetiming STARTERS: 0/3
Inuyasha
Inuyasha is feeling... things. Mostly, a weird protectiveness over Kagome and Kikyo both. He feels torn, and he desperately just wants to get them both in front of him so he can make sure they stay safe. That being said, he will not hesitate to protect himself or those he cares about. POSSIBLE PLOTS: hiding together || acting like normal || being paranoid together/about each other || making a joke out of it || thriving in chaos || hiding others || helping the injured/dying || staying home and facetiming STARTERS: 3/3 (Kagome/drvcxrys, Kikyo/vcndetta, Tifa/papermccn)
Woody Pride
As Sherriff I'm sure Woody is very busy overseeing a lot of stuff amidst the sudden chaos. Lots of making sure everyone is where they're supposed to be and things are being handled and somewhat controlled. But I'm sure he'll get out there to help out himself, especially if things get too hairy. POSSIBLE PLOTS: hiding together || acting like normal || being paranoid together/about each other || making a joke out of it || thriving in chaos || hiding others || helping the injured/dying || staying home and facetiming STARTERS: 0/3
Millie Knolastname
Millie is not feeling threatened in the least bit. She's just gonna hole up with Moxxie more than likely, with lots of weapons, ready to rock anyone's shit if they mess with them. If they trust you they might let you hide with them, but for the most part I'm sure that Millie was probably kept pretty busy by her husband. POSSIBLE PLOTS: hiding together || acting like normal || being paranoid together/about each other || making a joke out of it || thriving in chaos || hiding others || helping the injured/dying || staying home and facetiming STARTERS: 1/3 (Loona/drvcxrys)
Dash Parr
Dash is naturally a super hero, he likes to come to people's rescue. So he'll be out and about actively trying to save people until this all finally ends. POSSIBLE PLOTS: hiding together || acting like normal || being paranoid together/about each other || making a joke out of it || thriving in chaos || hiding others || helping the injured/dying || staying home and facetiming STARTERS: 0/3
Mako
Mako is in Super Bodyguard Mode. So he is being hella paranoid about Ben Skywalker, his client. He is being hyper-vigilant, making sure to stay on alert at all times, just in case anyone gets any bright ideas. POSSIBLE PLOTS: hiding together || acting like normal || being paranoid together/about each other || making a joke out of it || thriving in chaos || hiding others || helping the injured/dying || staying home and facetiming STARTERS: 0/3
Angel
Angel is smart, so she's doing a lot of hiding. She's pretty sneaky and stealthy, but even she knows it's probably safer in a locked up apartment armed with kitchen knives than it is out in the streets. POSSIBLE PLOTS: hiding together || acting like normal || being paranoid together/about each other || making a joke out of it || thriving in chaos || hiding others || helping the injured/dying || staying home and facetiming STARTERS: 0/3
Milo Thatch
Milo is honestly experiencing fight or flight and he's going into fight mode, surprisingly. He wants to find Kida and keep her safe, no matter what. That's his main goal. So he'll be out looking for her, mostly. He'll probably help where he can, too. POSSIBLE PLOTS: hiding together || acting like normal || being paranoid together/about each other || making a joke out of it || thriving in chaos || hiding others || helping the injured/dying || staying home and facetiming STARTERS: 0/3
Connor RK800
Connor is a detective police officer, so he's doing his best to try and find some sort of trace to where this came from. But of course, it's all DC magic more than likely, so he's having trouble finding much. He's doing his best to help others where he can. POSSIBLE PLOTS: hiding together || acting like normal || being paranoid together/about each other || making a joke out of it || thriving in chaos || hiding others || helping the injured/dying || staying home and facetiming STARTERS: 0/3
Lara Croft
Lara is a survivor. So she's not really afraid of much, seeing as she's just about been through it all. She's fast, she's strong, she's agile, she's stealthy, she's ruthless, and she's lethal. I personally pity anyone who tries to take her on. She will of course use her medical knowledge to administer first aid if someone needs help. POSSIBLE PLOTS: hiding together || acting like normal || being paranoid together/about each other || making a joke out of it || thriving in chaos || hiding others || helping the injured/dying || staying home and facetiming STARTERS: 0/3
Bernadetta Von Varley
Yeah, so Bernadetta and outside? They don't really mix that well anyhow. She's thus going to be locked in her room with her bow and arrow ready to shoot anyone that comes at her. So, yeah, she's not going to socialize much, nor will she let anyone in. For this reason threads with her will most likely be acting like normal for before/after event timing, or be talking over facetime/text. POSSIBLE PLOTS: hiding together || acting like normal || being paranoid together/about each other || making a joke out of it || thriving in chaos || hiding others || helping the injured/dying || staying home and facetiming STARTERS: 0/3
Jack Frost
Jack is of course looking to help others, somehow. He's got powers so he can always help in a fight, but beyond that he does feel kind of useless. So he's trying to help others find shelter or get medical assistance somewhere. Zeldaborn
Zeldaborn is honest just running through daily life as normal. She's like, very chill about all the chaos happening. She feels confident in her protection spells and potions so she knows she'll be okay no matter what. POSSIBLE PLOTS: hiding together || acting like normal || being paranoid together/about each other || making a joke out of it || thriving in chaos || hiding others || helping the injured/dying || staying home and facetiming STARTERS: 0/3
Jane Bennet
Jane is absolutely shocked and horrified. She's most likely locked up in fear, just absolutely confused about what's happening and scared someone might come for her, since things are so chaotic and random in DC. She's most likely using her phone to contact others she cares about, or hiding them in her place if she cares about them and trusts them. Rosie
Rosie is not feeling very threatened at the moment, so she's doing business as usual. Just kinda whistling as she goes about her days. Maybe catching a snack here or there. Kim Possible
Kim is definitely doing her best to help as many people as possible while looking for some sort of source. She's got on her save the day outfit and she's ready to kick some butt! Gareth Parry
Gareth is definitely in Protective Father/Husband Mode. He is looking out for his family first and foremost, protecting them and keeping them safe. He cares about literally nothing else in this moment. POSSIBLE PLOTS: hiding together || acting like normal || being paranoid together/about each other || making a joke out of it || thriving in chaos || hiding others || helping the injured/dying || staying home and facetiming STARTERS: 0/3

So I completely forgot this ship even existed and I need to ask your opinion on it with that ship bingo card... Jim Hawkings x Silver from Treasure Planet 😭
That would be a hard pass from me, sorry!
Treasure Planet is a movie that is incredibly precious to me and, therefore, perfect as is! I don't ship Jim with anyone in- universe, and I love their father-son relationship too much to see it as anything but.
I do, however, really like the idea of Sarah and Silver! To kind of complete out his redemption by picking up a shift as a cook while staking out a job on Montressor, not realizing she's Jim's mother, but smooth-talking himself into working for her. With him as the mainstream cook, the Benbow becomes more popular than ever, and Sarah, being extremely grateful for his help, gets to talking to him, they get to know each other, and at some point Silver finds out she's Jim's mother, he hadn't realized the Benbow was the inn Jim had told him about. The guilt starts to build up, he starts second-guessing himself again- curse these Hawkins and their ability to make him feel things! Eventually it comes down to him having to once again choose between his mates and this fierce little woman he comes to respect and admire, who makes him want to do right by her and Jim and this inn he's heard so much about and come to love just as much.
And wow, I just used this ask to go off, didn't I? Sorry about that!

billy bones blogging
I was Flint's first mate that voyage... three days east of Tortola in the Caribie. Flint knew an island. That's where we buried the treasure. Gold and blood, they were Flint's trademarks. He'd leave both behind him that day.
Muppet Treasure Island, 1996
As I was working on the art piece I just posted the other day, it occurred to me that it might have actually been my first time drawing Billy Bones. Which seemed Wrong, considering that he is, in fact, one of the main reasons that I fell in love with this show you know other than the vanerackham brain worms.
And I've spent a long time thinking that I should make a post articulating exactly why I'm so attached to him (I usually just keep my thoughts confined to the tags over on @benjaminagunn but this is just that important) Muppet Treasure Island came out when I was like 6 years old and was one of my favorite movies growing up. I watched it enough times to have most of the songs memorized, along with large chunks of dialogue. In particular, the opening scene. The film opens with a musical number that presents the backstory of Flint's treasure-- then cuts to a scene at a busy inn, where we are introduced to the narrator of the aforementioned tale: Billy Bones.
"Oh, aye. Fifteen men went ashore that day... and only Flint, his own self, returned. Oh, aye, and then old Flinty... up and died afore they could get back to that cursed island... and dig up the treasure. No one knows to this day who has old Flint's map. Now, isn't that a story worth the hearing?" "It was the first dozen times we heard it."
A couples scenes & a musical number later, it's revealed that Billy had the map the whole time, and he passes it to our protagonist Jim Hawkins before promptly dying. His job is to set the plot in motion and then be completely absent from the rest of the story.
In high school, I decided that since I enjoyed this movie so much, I should read the full unabridged version of the book. And the first thing that really struck me about it was the description of Billy Bones. Obviously, I was expecting there to be differences between this 19th century novel and the adaptation that involves Muppets. And the I do think that the character of Billy Bones, as portrayed by Billy Connolly, is a great adaptation of the character!
But the novel paints a more complete image of him: The boisterous side of him that we see in Muppet Treasure Island is only how he behaves on the nights he gets incredibly drunk; most of the time he is quiet and brooding.
He was a very silent man by custom. All day he hung round the cove or upon the cliffs with a brass telescope; all evening he sat in a corner of the parlour next the fire and drank rum and water very strong. Mostly he would not speak when spoken to, only look up sudden and fierce and blow through his nose like a fog-horn; and we and the people who came about our house soon learned to let him be. Every day when he came back from his stroll he would ask if any seafaring men had gone by along the road. At first we thought it was the want of company of his own kind that made him ask this question, but at last we began to see he was desirous to avoid them. When a seaman did put up at the Admiral Benbow (as now and then some did, making by the coast road for Bristol) he would look in at him through the curtained door before he entered the parlour; and he was always sure to be as silent as a mouse when any such was present. For me, at least, there was no secret about the matter, for I was, in a way, a sharer in his alarms. He had taken me aside one day and promised me a silver fourpenny on the first of every month if I would only keep my “weather-eye open for a seafaring man with one leg” and let him know the moment he appeared. Often enough when the first of the month came round and I applied to him for my wage, he would only blow through his nose at me and stare me down, but before the week was out he was sure to think better of it, bring me my four-penny piece, and repeat his orders to look out for “the seafaring man with one leg.”
When I read the book, I got a greater sense that Billy Bones was a man suffering from a great deal of trauma-- which is very significant for the character, considering that he literally gets Scared To Death.
So! Years later when I heard "Starz is making a pirate drama that's a prequel to Treasure Island", I was stoked! So much so that I felt like I couldn't actually watch it until I was Emotionally Ready... which wasn't until 2019.
I watched the first episode, and I cradled Billy Bones in my hands, and I said "oh my sweet summer child.... you're going to have some serious Long John Silver related PTSD by the time this is over..... you're going to become a husk of the man you are now..... you are Unkillable because your death is already written in stone baby!"

design for Jim's mom, and also some headcanons under the cut
jim's mother is in her late 30s at the time of the story
jim's dad and dr livesey were long-time close friends
as such dr livesey is a family friend of jim's and has been like an uncle figure for jim pretty much since he was born (might have even been the one helping jim's mom birth jim if thats not too weird)
even moreso when jim's father died in the Battle of Fontenoy where he and dr livesey were in the same unit
when jim's father died, ownership of the inn was passed on to jim, but he only formally owns it, his mother does all of the actual management and planning. he just cleans up and decks tables and such
jim's mom has always been pretty protective of her son but that amplified tenfold when she recieved the news of her husband's death
she is very strict with jim, constantly stressing the importance of good manners, hence why jim is such a soft spoken kind boy
her and dr livesey both imposed a lot of importance on health on jim as well. jim has very regular health check ups and of course does his exercise every morning and doesnt smoke or drink
above all else ms hawkins wants her boy to be safe, she is a big worrywart when it comes to him, since she doesn't want to lose anyone else in her family so soon (that includes dr livesey too, she moms him around quite a bit as well)
she was out of town when jim got visited by billy bones and subsequently invovled in the hunt for captain flint's treasure, buying supplies for the inn in shepperdine
(the admiral benbow inn is in newtown by the bristol channel btw)
ms hawkins semi-accurately believed her son was kidnapped and had a right proper mental breakdown
one of trelawney's servants informed her that jim has headed to bristol with the doctor and the squire which calmed her down just a little bit, but still left her wracked with nerves and anxiously waiting for their return
upon arriving back in england, dr livesey, trelawney and captain smollett personally escorted jim back home to make sure the boy safely gets there (also dr livesey remembered that ms hawkins would be back from her errands by now and knows she was gonna be PISSED so he wanted to resolve any potential misunderstandings as soon as possible)
ms hawkins reacted about as well as you would expect upon finding out her son was on a life-threatening adventure with pirates and casualties. she grabbed the three men and took them to another room whereupon she reprimanded them very vocally for the danger they put her son through
Tumblr media
livesey manages to calm her down a little bit by repeatedly assuring her that jim is totally fine (minus the mental scars but those arent noticable yet) and that a majority of flint's treasure will be going towards her and the inn
also i want her and captain smollett to get together because i will take literally every oppertunity to put a worldweary strict man together with a widowed mother and have them be two people who lost so much but now they have each other

Rewatching Treasure Planet for the 1000 time so here are my brain brrr thoughts/ things i noticed...
• During the opening scene where Jim is freely Solar Surfing the area, the music that plays over it comes back again in different tones: when they take off from the spaceport, when escaping the supernova and when Jim saves them from the planets destruction and that's pretty poetic
• I was thinking "why are they the only humans" but then why is anyone one species. I dont think you see 2 of the same species around. It also makes sence since they own/work at an Inn and the movie takes place on other alien planets
• Amelia from the start clearly states she doesn't like the crew Delbert hired, yet she doesn't push for him to hire a new crew or anything. She maybe be the captain and a really good one, but in a way (despite what Delbert says) she does know who she's working for
• Amelia and Arrows' whole dynamic. "I said something rather good before coffee" (- Amliea) they're besties
• Doplers bulky suit runs on 3 AA type batteries 😂
Tumblr media
• When Silver said to Jim "I have two new friends I'd like you to meet" before he revealed it was a joke to do chores, Jim looked genuinely interested in new people to meet. He's finally on a spacing adventure that is based on his favourite legend since childhood and he gets back to doing more things he was doing at the Benbow, so I think his disappointment is some what valid
Tumblr media
• Silvers crew either severely sucked up and faked their resumes and/or took out any competition to get that job, which is why they got the job and not a better crew
• Jim built his first Solar Sufer when he was 8 and probably did it as a way to be closer to his dad (I think he was still around at that age)
• In the flashback of his dad leaving, Jim woke up startled and worried. It then cuts to his dad already walking away then his mother crying at the table, so they probably had a massive fight as he was leaving which woke Jim up. They probably fought a bit before hand as well
• Morph turned into a wrench to help Silver, so Morph can hold the weight/strength of things he shapeshifts into
• Its been pointed out that Jim's cloths are a symbolism of his development. He starts with a black shirt and jacket then a tan shirt and black jacket and by the end its just the tan shirt.
He gets the tan shirt and black jacket when they start the voyage, but loses the jacket part way through the "I'm still here" sequence. He wears it again after Arrows death then loses it again when Silvers true intentions are revealed to him.
• Jim and Silver did fasten their lifelines after being told to - during the supernova - but they had to undo them to get the sail at the front of the ship. So if Jim hadn't caught Silver when he fell, even his lifeline would t have helped him
• When bracing themselves for the last Migella in the Supernova, Silver holds Jim and the pole, looking down to make sure he's ok
Tumblr media
• At the start of the movie Jim uses a Purp to sus out Silver, and its the same Purp barrel Jim is hiding in when he overhears what Silver says to the crew
- Jim using the purps to try and hint that he's onto Silver vs Scroop using the purp to emphasise that Silvers gone soft
• Treasure Planet was using drabooln currency before tiktok deemed it cool
• The parallels in Arrows and Scroops deaths.
Tumblr media
Tumblr media
Bonus cause:
Scroop: Do say hello to Mr Arrow
Jim: Tell him yourself!
• When trying to find the gate, the crew threaten to kill Jim but Silver looks worried. When he says "I suggest you get the gizmo going again and fast!" It was more a warning, cause he looks scared for Jim when they prepare to attack him...
Tumblr media
• B.E.Ns eyes going from green to blue I think is a little clever bit of symbolism. They started green which was the colour of Treasure Planet (map, portal etc) and then when he got his memory circut back and could help them get out, they changed to blue
• Morph, Morphs into things around him, which is why he copies what people say, he's Morphing/copies their words
• When Silver is saying goodbye to Jim he smiles up at him, showing his non cyborg side
Hope you enjoyed, feel free to tell me your thoughts on this movie, that I feel normal about
