I just had the funniest idea for an Easter egg.

Imagine it. You're playing through chapter 4 of Celeste, and you come across a secret path. You go through it.

There, sitting in the middle of the room, is a cauldron with a sledgehammer leaning against it.

Madeline: Tempting, but... I don't think I have the upper body strength. Or patience.

Then, in chapter 7, 3000 meters up, you find another secret path, and go through it to see that same cauldron and sledgehammer, much higher up than previously.

Madeline: ...

Badeline: You do not have the upper body strength.

Madeline: I know...

In Jojo's Bizarre Adventure one of the most popular antagonists, and the first one too, is named Dio. The thing is yes he is an evil bastard but not gonna lie if I spent basically my whole childhood being poor and it was because my dad was a sack of crap and the only time I escaped this was my dad dying then I ended up being taken on by wealthy people (hell yeah) but then I immediately learned their son gets a nice normal name like Jonathan and my name is Dio. Like I've never heard of anyone named Dio that wasn't that character, fictional or non fictional. Yeah honestly maybe I'd kick his dog too. Incinerator is a tad much though. Jesus.

are there any other games with a "reversal of progress" mechanic like demon's souls delevel-ing grab attack? roguelikes would be the obvious link but that feels different, that's starting over, i think losing a "level", which takes more time and effort to gain as the game progresses (usually), is a different experience. maybe the most similar thing would be bennet foddy's getting over it, and inspired works.

Meridia has a habit of playing her favourite games with the same character, making the same choices, over and over again. She usually plays big-budget fantasy games, where she likes to collect everything and do everything perfectly.

Zenithar likes games with an "industry" part, like Stardew Valley, or games with engineering in them, like Poly Bridge. Trying to do things as efficiently as possible is his passion, and it's a useful passion, because Zenithar doesn't have much time to relax.

Dibella likes a TTRPG or two. She loves drawing pictures and writing songs for her characters, making grand speeches and getting involved with the game's lore, and all that good stuff. She pulls her weight and enjoys the cameraderie of party-based games, although she can be more intense than people are used to.

The Tribunal are three talented mod developers, or at least were, until Dagoth Ur caught them copying Lorkhan's source code. In her heyday, Almalexia made quest mods for her favourite RPG (Dragon Age: Inquisition), Vivec made all sorts of clothes for The Sims, and Sotha Sil reprogrammed Minesweeper into a dating simulator.

Talos loves action and real-time strategy games, particularly ones which involve kicking vast quantities of arse, taking over whole countries and being adored for it. His favourite game is Fallout 4. He also quite liked Final Fantasy XIV, but complained that it was "too girly".

Kynareth is mostly interested in playing outside, no matter the weather or else is around. She goes bug-hunting with Namira sometimes, or fishing with Stendarr. She also runs TTRPGs sometimes, where her world-building and storytelling definitely shine through.

The HoonDing is something of a dabbler who plays all manner of games, but they also love taking on difficult challenges. They're that strange, determined person who plays Super Hexagon and Bennet Foddy Gets Over It for fun, and somehow manages to win. They're always happy to explain how they managed, if a budding gamer wants to follow in their footsteps.

Azura loves Final Fantasy. The music, the fashion, the artistry and the grand, sweeping, evocative stories, all of it. Her only major complaint is that Final Fantasy XV "wasn't girly enough".
