so I finished reading "between a rock and a hard place" which is just...the best fanfiction ever. I've really been craving the same feeling of slowburn/angst that the fic had but I haven't found any that hit the spot. do you have any recs?? I already read captive which is another *chef kiss*

unfortunately i have been left with telling you that i don't think any fanfic will ever compare to Between a Rock and a Hard Place. that fic is just pure perfection and it's the best thing i've ever read to this day. i reread that fic monthly (sometimes weekly). the closest i really have to recommend is Captive and since you've already read it, i am left to recommend my last favourite which is The Kidd Pirate Cafe (Heat x reader) by RavenRunning which was inspired by Captive.

however, i'm currently working on the plan to a Kid Pirates x reader series that is very inspired by these three fanfics. so hopefully soon you'll have a fourth fanfic to read full of slowburn, angst and misunderstandings.

I KNOW 😭😭😭 but i cant have my cake and eat it (drop out and stay unemployed) (i really would like to drop out.....) (also money. am i really going to mooch off my parents forever??? i mean its a privileged position to be in.. but even that has its limits) (not to mention that ill have to get a job if i graduate. uni is just putting off the inevitable)

Velus was left in charge of me while Akkadius went to check on the current situation.

Alone. Behind a closed door.

I couldn’t even give the bastard the benefit of the doubt that maybe he didn’t expect Sadist McScrewloose to immediately take advantage of what was more or less blanket permission to do whatever he wanted — in general, but to me specifically. He knew exactly who he had employed and what Velus was capable of.

Apparently Arna wasn’t informed of this fact, and learned of it the hard way when he came sprinting into the room, medigel in hand.

Velus whirled on him. “I fuckin’ knew it,” he snapped. “I knew your bleeding heart was a fuckin’ liability!” He spat at Arna’s feet. “Traitor!”

Arna’s unexpected arrival had saved me from having my face cut up by the galaxy’s dullest knife, and I already owed him one for the kick I’d given him earlier, so when Velus turned away, I struck, lunging out of my chair and—

Right into an iron grip. “You’re as stupid as the rest of ‘em, you know that?” Velus hissed, squeezing my arm tighter and tighter until the screws that had been holding it together for years sheared in half. “Delicate little thing. Weak .”

Sparks crackled across my tongue.
