I know the '06 timeline got erased but it would have been really funny to see a Silver/Dadow interaction when Silver got back to the future from that whole incident:

I'm never going to forget this btw. It's on Ang to decide if they deserve forgiveness or not, but since they show no remorse for their actions: I doubt they do. I've been talking about this situation for years. At the very least people in the industry should be warned that Holly Disch and Jay Goldstein were happy to get a human being killed over cartoons.

The bit of AI no one talks about: No one needs to play physical Football ever again.

We talk a lot about the "democratisation of Art" (read, "i want art but i can't be arsed to go through the creative process"), but, to my knowledge, no one has talked about the "democratisation" of sports.

Understand, I mean the American sport called "football". The one where people cheer you on for dealing the hardest body-blows you are physically capable of delivering, the one where every player suffers from some kind of chronic physical pain because of the time they spent playing the game, the one where people have straight up become paralysed or collapsed and almost died on live television while their coaches scream at them to get up.

We don't need to put another person through this hell ever, ever again. Why? Because of the amazing strides in computer graphics and AI human synthesis that have been made over the past 20 years. We've been able to accurately simulate the physics of American football in videogames since at least 2002, and now, with games like EA Sports FC24, consumer-grade computers are able to simulate the players with such complete realism that it becomes difficult to tell a photograph of a football match from a development screenshot. Yes, that's a different kind of football, but the principle is the same.

Now, with the advent of "AI" imitation machines, it is possible to tell a computer every statistic it needs to know about a particular player's performance to generate a realistic American football game. It can be as brutal as its programmers want it to be; using the full battery of banned tactics. No one gets hurt because no one is there. Huge expensive football stadiums and sports complexes can be torn down, their funds re-allocated, and their properties developed into walkable cities, parks, and affordable housing.

People can still bet on the outcome of games, they can still riot when their team loses (or wins), they can still shout at their TV screens and pretend to argue ref calls, the corporate feudal state can still make millions of dollars on advertising during games, but no young man ever needs to put himself in danger of permanent disability before the age of 25 ever again. The NCAA and NFL will be completely automated from an undisclosed location locked up tighter than the highest-security US government installation.

I think Fitz truly has quite a compassionate heart. I feel like his positive traits are often overlooked because of his own narration and boneheaded ways. But if you look at his actions, he often wants to help people even at the cost of his own desires. In just the beginning of Assassin's Quest, he helps the minstrels on the road and in the very next town, despite his resolve to remain in isolation, he moves towards helping a drunk beaten by the city guard (though he's stopped by a bystander). And of course, he was immediately kind to the Fool, and often goes to the aid of abused animals.

He ponders these acts as if they are a sense of duty, but he hardly lets that affect him in other areas. And sometimes he doesn't comment on these acts at all. I like to think his Wit sense fosters an appreciation of all life and deepens his empathy.

I'll be looking forward to noticing this in particular through the rest of my reread. I think he just belittles himself so much you really have to read between the lines to see his strengths.
