So like, yes Neil Newborn has done an incredible job, he makes Astarion - who would otherwise be a generic emo fuckboy lmao. But I am begging y'all, there is so much more to the cast and characters.

Can we talk about the Narrator (Amelia Tyler)? Narrating is such a specific art and the fact that she has range even within confines what she does do is incredible. Like the difference in her voice between a standard good playthrough versus an embraced Dark Urge. Like hello?? Why are we sleeping on the Narrator?

Tim Downie is my "hear me out" crush because Neil is RIGHT THERE.

It should be him. It should be Neil. I do love him. He is hot. He is dedicated. He is a chaotic gremlin that makes me giggle when I see clips of him being chaotic while gaming. He's sweet and kind and like, he's just COOL.

Me as Karlach at London MCM! I met Neil Newbon (Astarion), Samantha Béart (Karlach), and Frazer Blaxland (Dammon). They were all so lovely and really complimentary about my costume - which really helped with my lack of confidence about it :o Hopefully next time I cosplay I will actually get some proper pictures, as I was too self-conscious at MCM!

so, i had the bg3 cast d&d thing on the tv today. and my mom has listened to some of my game-related ramblings but she didn't actually know that much about the characters, other than basic facts (names, appearances, classes, etc) so she had no clue what astarion is like, exactly. i think she was expecting a much more brooding character?

anyway, she audibly gasped when neil went to look for and loot tav's pack. she said "i can't believe your boyfriend would do that to you. he's so toxic ?? you should break up with him. shadowheart seems much nicer" as if my tav, personally, was the one in this d&d game and i haven't decided yet whether its supportive of her to consider my tav to be the definitive canon one, or if it's insulting that she just immediately accepted that, yeah, my tav SHOULD be in brutal amounts of unconscious pain
