So I stay away from Twitter for maybe a whole day, and apparently people are now trying to cancel Halsin's voice actor in light of the Frazee Blaxland issue.
To all the people who hate Halsin, genuine question, are you guys okay?
Because it is one thing to dislike a character. I've tried arguing in defense of Halsin but there will always be people who will have (often times even valid) reasons not to like Halsin. But do not randomly bash the character, and do not attack actor for the love of all that is good and holy.
Dave Jones is an adult man who plays an adult character in a game that is targeted towards adults. He is allowed to like and share fanart of the character he plays, NSFW or not.
And comparing him to Frazer Blaxland, especially a big no. Dave is the only member of the BG3 cast I am aware of who has vocally called for a ceasefire in Gaza. Frazer follows and supports zionists, including the IOF!
TL:DR- People who hate Halsin, can you maybe just calm down for five minutes for once?

for the 3 people following me and the record.
dammon's VA has shitty views and is not a good person for holding them currently. it doesn't mean you need to stop liking the character.
Halsin's VA is an adult who is allowed to like adult content about his adult character from an adult game on a personal account.
that is all.

Hello everyone! My apologies for being inactive, I wanted to get my head on straight and be in the right headspace to talk about this.
As you may or may not know, there's a situation that has unfolded with Dammon's Voice Actor, Frazer Blaxland, about harmful content he has been following and liking. I will not go into details here as it can be very upsetting, but you can find the information and proof on Twitter right here.
As someone who is under the Non-Binary umbrella, this is both disheartening and extremely disappointing. I loved Dammon, and while I have always separated actors from their characters, it definitely has left a very sour taste in my mouth. He has issued an apology on this matter, but it feels weak, insincere, and more of a "I'm sorry I got caught" than him being genuinely sorry for hurting so many people.
My page is a safe space for trans people and anyone who's part of the LGBTQIA+ community. I also stand with the people of Palestine.
I still love Dammon as a character, but this does not mean I endorse his actor's beliefs. I enjoy Dammon's writing and love the content this community has created for him. I love the art, the fanfiction, the headcannons, and the lore in-game I have found about him. I will continue to enjoy his character, but also be aware the hurt Frazer Blaxland has caused and how that will impact us.
I do plan on writing things for Dammon in the future, but for now, I'm going to take a step back from it temporarily until this sour taste in my mouth goes away.
As always, be kind to everyone around you! I know we can get through this as a community. Emotions are running high, so please take care of yourselves!

Me as Karlach at London MCM! I met Neil Newbon (Astarion), Samantha Béart (Karlach), and Frazer Blaxland (Dammon). They were all so lovely and really complimentary about my costume - which really helped with my lack of confidence about it :o Hopefully next time I cosplay I will actually get some proper pictures, as I was too self-conscious at MCM!

The mystery that's a part of Dammon's appeal and a solution to preserve it.
Tumblr media
From this clip posted by Frazer Blaxland, provided to me by northlandcleric I'm starting to understand where his voice actor is coming from and can even respect it.
But it's also a really brilliant idea for his romance conflict and/or character arc. The thing is, Larian could keep some to most of Dammon's history and motivations a complete mystery. By simply having him struggle, dodge, or even outright refuse to open up about his past and present.
They could drop little ominous clues. Scraps of paper are found during his missions or around his tent in camp with drawn symbols not even Gale can recognize. For his character arc missions, he needs our help to collect a few mysterious items from various sometimes dangerous and highly guarded locations. But the problem is he won't tell you what they are, he refuses to show you them or admit why he needs them. They all just go into this peculiar box of his which he works on out of view of the camera. Much like when he was preparing a fix for Karlach's heart. It could cause the device inside to glow and make some chilling sounds that make us question our decision to keep helping him.
If that wasn't bad enough, there are odd things he mumbles to himself in passing you can't quite make out. We could have a cutscene where we catch him continuing to work on this mysterious device that he quickly hides away.
He could occasionally disappear from the game. As in, he's not available as a companion for a day here and there. He warns you this could happen beforehand and not to worry. Or there is simply a note he's left behind.
I should be back in a day, possibly two. - Dammon
When he comes back, and we ask where he went, he tells us he can't say. Sometimes, he comes back shaken or injured and still won't tell us what has happened or what's wrong.
His story is filled with all kinds of little things that would pique our curiosity and cause us to wonder and yearn for answers.
Perhaps the items he collects look to be transfered into a special locked chest at camp near his tent that he says is private and to not touch. And if the player doesn't listen, picks one surprisingly low roll lock, and opens it regardless, it provides zero answers. It contains just a few mundane, possibly sentimental items. What do these items mean? It doesn't matter, at least not yet, because it was a duplicate box. A temptation. A test to determine if Dammon could trust you, and you just failed it. Upon opening his chest, and violating one of his boundaries, he leaves the party and disappears forever. Or better yet, the game suddenly ends, and the credits roll.
What the hells happened?
We'll never know but we just messed up big time.
Why do I think this idea is perfect for him?
One Frazer wants him to be a man of mystery. Okay, that's valid. Here is your mystery, another paycheck, and more acclaim Frazer.
Two, because it's already set into Dammon's character somewhat. Upon minutes of knowing us, when he speaks of his time in the hells he outright admits, "I hope to forget most of it."
Again, that could be the issue the player character has with him. He simply doesn't want to talk about his past, his trauma, and possible sins. He wants to focus on the present and future with you and/or Karlach. Dammon can be a rather private and guarded character. Why is he like that? It's another mystery.
Being with him as a friend or lover is a complete leap of faith.
Perhaps he actually did, or was made to do, something horrifying and possibly unforgivable. If he confesses, maybe he fears it would destroy our warm view of him and the better person he wishes to be now. Maybe something unspeakable has happened to him, and he doesn't want to be an object of pity. He could be a god, a devil, a Great Old One, or something else in disguise. He could be from the future or an alternate dimension. Or maybe he's entered into an infernal pact of some kind that's bound his tongue on the whole matter. The list of what his secrets are can go on and on.
Then as his love interest or just friend, do we accept that he has a few secrets and respect his boundaries? Do we keep our hands off his metaphorical Pandora's box? Or do we break things off with him for refusing to trust and open up to us? Better yet, he could choose to break it off with us eventually or even leave the party for good if we keep pressing and again, open that chest of his.
This would allow us fanfic writers to go wild with theories. The fandom as a whole will debate over which ones seem more plausible. None of which the developers at Larian will ever confirm.
Parts of his past will never be explained to us the player.
Finally, after he's collected the last thing he needs, and fiddles with it after he places it in the box, it just winks out of existence. Maybe dramatically, it hums, levitates, and glows first then poof! A real "Stand back!" like it's going to blow up moment.
After it's gone, Dammon drops to his knees, shivers, and lets out this huge sigh of relief, maybe even laughs next. Make it a touch maniacal? Sure, that would make us sweat over if we did the right thing in helping him. Make us squirm Larian, please.
The important thing is, that whatever problem Dammon had is over... or is it?
The player character can ask him if he can now explain himself. If a friend, he'll just shake his head and thank us. If we have low approval with him, he'll just shake his head and apologize that he still can't speak of it and ask us to, yet again, drop the matter.
But if he's our love, he'll ask if we are sure we want to know and if we can keep a secret. If we vow to, he will lean in and whisper something into our character's ear. We the audience won't know what he's told our character. But at least now there are no more secrets between him and the one(s) he loves.
We just get to watch on as our character's eyes go wider and bug a little in shock as he whispers away. When he pulls back, we can choose to rush and hug him. So tight with an expression of utter belated fear of all that could have gone wrong on our character's face. Or we could choose to break up with him because whatever our character heard has damaged the relationship beyond repair.
Now that the player character knows everything they can consummate the relationship. Why now? Because full disclosure is sexy, and so is a good slow burn.
Oh, and remember those sentimental items? After telling us about his completed mission to our character, he finally shows us what's in that locked chest that had been a test of trust. The one we decide to respect his wishes and leave alone. He finally opens up about his past a tiny bit and talks about why each item he kept in there was so important to him. But of course, most of his trinkets will not be related to his time in the hells or his mysterious now completed task.
Later on, we can ask, "What in the hells were you thinking, taking all that on?!"
Dammon's response? He gives a sheepish shrug and says, "I think you know why. Everything is in order now. That's all that matters, my love. Thank you for trusting, helping, and believing in me."
To just a friend player character, who tries yet again for an explanation, Dammon will only offer, "Just know everything is in order now. That's all that matters, and you have my deepest thanks."
Again, to be clear, we the players are still kept in the dark. It will be only our romanced player character that will know what happened, and there could be an option to whisper Dammon's secret to others. That temptation could always be there among the dialogue options when speaking to the other companions. But kissing and telling will come with consequences. Anywhere from earning a large chunk of disapproval with Dammon to him outright breaking up with the player's character and leaving the party. Maybe he tells all to Karlach too or maybe not, it could all depend on your and Dammon’s relationship with her.
But no matter what, Dammon keeps a majority of his mystery.
Frazer is hopefully happy. We'll be happy.
Everyone. Can. Be. Happy!
If you agree, please consider sharing this to help bring it to Larian's attention. Feel free to discuss your thoughts in the comments below too.
Let's get Dammon into a starring role as an origin character and romanceable in a DLC to help feature the Artificer class!

Hi friends, A lot has happened in the last 24 hours. And I just want you to know that this is a SAFE space. You are loved, your identity, your sexuality, everything that makes you YOU. You are loved and you are welcome here and you have a safe space here. ❤ I am Trans / Agender and Queer... I wouldn't call myself a Dammon stan but I did love his character a lot... and I'm so fucking hurt and disappointed with Frazer. I will not be posting any Dammon content for a while, for now, I cannot separate the character from the actor... fuck Frazer and fuck his views.

For folks without twitter, I’ve gathered all of the screenshots from @/fangedfiend’s thread about what happened with Frazer Blaxland (Dammon’s VA) and put them on google drive.
It’s a collection of all of the screenshots of likes/follows/messages on twitter and IG that were sent to them. It doesn’t include the personal stories from other users (about his treatment of people who paid for cameos of Dammon and non-fem Tavs, for example.)
Cw for transphobia, zionism, misogyny… if it’s awful, assume it’s in here.
For folks with twitter who haven’t seen it, the link is here: https://x.com/fangedfiend/status/1769036145080369390?s=46&t=3sKD163w6SdkhKxvA-smOg

the Dammon VA was liking a bunch of hate content including content from pages known to have gotten people killed (ie libsoftiktok) and said people and pages have also caused ultra-right-wing hate mobs to form around LGBT+ spaces and events. Never even mind a weird fetish for the IDF apparently. I liked the character but yeah no, fuck Dammon's voice actor and unless/until there's a revoice fuck Dammon too.

In light of the recent events happening I'm the Baldur's Gate 3 community regarding Frazer Blaxland, I have a few words to share.
To all Dammon fans out there, please remember that the actor is not the character, and that Frazer's actions should not influence your enjoyment of the character. It is completely understandable if it does, but remember you are not a bad person for liking Dammon, the same way that you are not a bad person for liking Cullen from Dragon Age despite Greg Ellis's actions.
Second, and most importantly, what my page strives to be is a safe space for everyone. I am a white, cisgender woman. I am under the label of heterosexuality despite the fact that do question my sexuality. But I stand with the people.
Bigotry of all kinds is not supported on my page- racism, homophobia, transphobia, fat phobia, ableism, anti-semitism and, especially in light of what is happening in Palestine, Zionism. And if I ever make a mistake on my page, I urge everyone, followers and mutuals alike, to inform me (privately preferably) so I can rectify my mistake.
I intend on having my page be a safe space for everyone.

because I started thinking I want to write for Dammon again:
In no way am I okay with Frazer Blaxland (Dammon’s voice actor) following accounts that are anti-lgbtq, anti-trans, racist and Zionist. Trans rights are human rights, and I stand with Palestine. I want this page to be a safe space for anyone and everyone to enjoy. So truly, fuck Frazer.
On the other hand, I know that characters are not their voice actors, so I would still like to write for Dammon. He is such a good character in the series that I’ve enjoyed in game and also reading fics about.
But I also want to ask my community: would you be okay with still reading/consuming Dammon content? Or has Frazer’s actions left a sour taste in your mouth? I don’t want to endorse Frazer’s actions in any way but also I want to enjoy Dammon as a character. Please feel free to comment or shoot me a DM!

can anybody please show me what Dammon's VA said/tweeted/liked/did? I was gone for a few days and now I've seen a billion posts giving vague secondhand summaries and exactly two people linked a tweet that I guess would've had actual screenshots but since I don't have twitter, I cant see the thread. so I get that he's apparently a cunt but I, by principle, don't just start blindly echoing statements other people make without seeing the full context for myself, and it seems like the evidence/context of this all is only available to twitter users rn. can somebody please help your local queer Dammon simp out and send me the actual screenshots of what he did lmao

Larian, you don't just give us this fine ass tiefling that gives us dreamy bedroom eyes and not let us romance him!
Why Dammon should and needs to become a romance option in a future DLC or Patch:
There are some sparks flying between him and Karlach already. Maybe just of friendship but honestly, I think he's got a little crush on her given some of his lines. It's clear he's concerned about her at the very least, and that could easily bloom into a deep friendship or something more. Letting us romance him on a Karlach origin playthrough could be rather sweet. It could also help shake up that status quo of men being the brawn and women being the brains. At the very least, it would help some shorter guys and taller ladies who pair up feel seen and celebrated.
He's an NPC we see on the regular in all three acts. (Granted he's rather fragile. Seriously Larian, give him more than just 8 hp! Alfira the bard has 20 hp for goodness sake!) Even if he's not made into a companion most of us already make a stop at least once a day at his forge to sell him our stuff. Sure it's business at first. But even in the game currently, he gives the player all kinds of freebies if we bring him the right things. Plus, most of us don't think it's weird at all to support a loved one's time and efforts so him remaining our favorite merchant is not a problem. People have housewives and househusbands they support all of the time, after all. Let us do so with our future forge husband.
Visiting him on the daily is also more than enough time to provide the player with small opportunities to progress in a relationship with him. Once a day he could say something new about his. Or he drops a new tidbit about his past and his passions. The player then could pick a response to up his approval. His merchant approval and relationship approval might be tricky to navigate but could both be displayed when buying or trading with him. He could also pay a visit to our camp on occasion too. Perhaps at the camp party, it starts out as a one-night stand, then rescuing him from the ox later on at Last Light Inn we can admit we do actually care about him.
NPC romances are not a new thing and have been implemented in other games such as in Dragon Age Inquisition with Josephine and Cullen. We also lack a male tiefling option. (Although there are some Zevlor and Roland Stans out there too. Hey, more options with horns and tails the better I say. ^_~)
All the companions have some rather big things on their plate and lots of baggage. At times this can be overwhelming for some players or at least on every playthorugh. What about the Tav or Durge's needs? What if the player is going through some tough things in real life and just can't deal with any more drama? Perhaps Dammon could be an alternative in that he could provide some with more emotional support or comfort. He invites Tav over for a home-cooked meal. Maybe he burns the pizza a little or he could suck at cooking, but it's the thought that counts. Or maybe he's usually a fantastic baker and sends you off each day with some kind of camp supply treat. I'm not saying make him boring but keep his romance a bit on the little lighter side? Why? Some players just overall feel better when their loved one is back at home and relatively safe, and that's valid. Plus during the course of the game, we do rescue him around three times and he's sure to have some baggage from his time in the hells. It would be just nice if he had a little less than most of our companions. If we had a fluffier romance option instead of one that leaves us crying.
He's already a part of the player's story and could help showcase and offer some in-game tutorials for Tinker or Artificer class if made into a full companion or even if he remained an NPC. If shown say any blacksmithing schematics he could provide more information or insight about new weapons and armor. For example, if one misses the sussur bark nature roll he could suggest where to find some if we show him the quest item.
He could provide a story of being biracial. Given his white sclera and other coloring, some are left to wonder if he might have a few elves or humans in his family tree. Granted this might be a rune power keg of a topic but it could be a way to allow many to feel seen and hear a similar story to theirs unfold in a game.
Rumor has it the Voice Actor for Dammon, Frazer Blaxland is all on board at the idea of working with Larian more.
There are a few more reasons beyond the ones given, but these listed here are some of the strongest reasons why Dammon as a new romance option makes perfect sense.
Feel free to comment below about yours! The more reasons the better!
Also, you can submit feedback to Larian HERE. Send them your thrist.

You know, sometimes conservatives' hypocrisy baffles me so much. How can you work on a game that legit allows you to choose your pronouns and it's a full lgbtqia+ parade when you also support bigots and oppressors?
I know, it's for the money, but he also actively interacted with his fanbase. What a loser.
