Day 14:one lending the other their scarf to keep them warm.
Fandom:Big Hero Six
Character:Tadashi Hamada
Naughty or Nice.
A/n: We're just gonna ignore the fact he died in a fiery explosion
Tumblr media Tumblr media
"Are you alright? Want me to bring you ho-."
Eyes going wide you quickly wrapped your arms around Tadashi's arm. "No! I'm fine! Really." Inching closer to your boyfriend you did your best to stay warm. You rather not end date early because you forgot to grab something else to keep you warm on apparently one of the coldest night's in the city.
Sighing,Tadashi gave you a light smile followed by a kiss to your head. His fingers rubbing your back until he stopped walking. He hated seeing you like this, hated seeing you shiver but he knew how stubborn you were.
"Here." Tugging off his scarf Tadashi then wrapped it around her neck. Smiling he then gave you a gentle kiss as he wrapped his arms around your waist as he nuzzled his nose into yours. "Now you won't be cold."
Beaming you gave him one last kiss then wove your fingers through his. "I have the greatest boyfriend around."
Chuckling, he gave your hand a squeeze as you both started to walk down the snow covered street. "I am pretty wonderful."

@drama-glob new idea, wouldn’t go away so I wrote this
It started with a question.
“Carl, do you think I’d be a good dad?”
Felony Carl turned to his partner, a bit surprised by the question, and answered honestly. “Of course. Perhaps you wouldn’t be perfect, but I believe you would be a wonderful father to any child. Is something the matter?”
Globby squirmed in his chair, looking nervous. “Well… it’s just that I saw my family today.”
Carl frowned. “Did they see you?”
Globby shook his head. “No. I think they were here on vacation with my cousin. They looked like a real family- parents and a kid- but it made me think of why I left for San Fransokyo in the first place.” He clenched a fist. “My dad wasn’t the best, and if we ever adopt a kid I really wanna do better!” He looked up at Carl defiantly. “I’d spend time with the kid, and actually listen to them, and support them in every way I could, especially if they decide to explore gender and stuff! I’d give our kid what I wish I had, and-”
Globby stopped. “Oh no, did I make you cry?” Alarmed, he scooted closer to Carl. “I’m so sorry!”
Carl shook his head, wiping his eyes, and showed Globby his smile. “I’m not sad, beloved. I’m proud of you for deciding to step above what you know like this. While I had an average childhood myself, I, too, would go above and beyond for our child.”
Globby hummed happily, wrapping himself around Carl in a hug. “That’s great! ‘Cause I kinda think I really want one. A kid. Maybe two.”

AO3 stats game
I was tagged by @ilthit Sorry for the wait! Rarely on my desktop and this kind of thing is hard to do on my phone. For people not familiar with me I’m Terias on Ao3. I’ve been thinking of porting my old FFN fics over for posterity too. lol but I wrote a lot when I was young and inexperienced.
Rules: Give us the links to your wonderful words with the most hits, most kudos, most comments, most bookmarks, most words, and least words.
Most hits: Harry Potter and the Viper’s Chess , This fic was entirely a work of spite (before I even knew JKR was a raging anti trans ass) because I was tired of Slytherin Harry fics that turned into male power fantasies or had him as an edgy harem gatherer (LOL what?!). Probably has the highest hit count because it’s one of the most popular fandoms I was ever in and was my first work posted on Ao3.
Most kudos: Portal Fall  Avengers x Big Hero 6 crossover. Wrote it because the BH6 ending felt weird to me. Hiro ended up NOT making it back to his universe.
Most comments: The Penny That Bought A Palace  an unfinished collaboration done with my spouse. My Hero Academia fic, ship is future Erasermight. Basically a ‘All Might is in really bad shape’ fic. REALLY BAD SHAPE. From his POV. He basically gets hospitalized and it throws the world into chaos but he doesn’t even know the full extent of things. So kind of a mystery to the reader too? I hope my spouse gets their mojo back for writing it because it feels weird to write for it without them.
Most bookmarks: Also Portal Fall. 2nd is TPTBAP. 3rd is When in Doubt a FF7, omegaverse fic where Cloud wakes up and mistakenly thinks he time-traveled, and then dimension-traveled after he learned about Designations. He’s wrong.
Most words: Harry and the Three Knights at a wild 267k words, it surpasses the word count of any of my other fics by double. It’s the 4th installment of the Lionsnake Chronicles. I had planned for 7 installments but a few chapters into writing the 5th one I rage quit because JKR went full monty with her anti trans bullshit. (I am feeling my spite grow again so expect me to start writing the series again and making it as queer as fucking possible [which I had more or less already planned for] but I’m gonna do it even more)
Least words: Clocking in at 804 words is a G rated drabble in the My Hero Academia (Erasermight) fandom is Effortless with its own podfic courtesy of a03 user TinFoilHat
I'm tagging (it’s okay not to play!) @oh-no-boi @ms-demeanor @cryptid-crawly @moosephu @toastyglow (and even if you’re not tagged you can still play!! I just didn’t want to spam people)

Colli watches Big Hero 6 with Hunter.
Hi! Thanks for the request!
Even though I already did a drabble where Colli and Hunter watch BH6. But I'm going to write something for you nonetheless, my dear anon!
Drabble: Zero To Hero
It was a quiet afternoon in Gravesfield. A certain sweethearted celestial boy with otherworldly fluffy lavender hair was spending some time with his beloved big brother Hunter at the Noceda Household to watch a movie.
Disney's Hercules, to be specific. "Even though this version of Zeus and Hera is apparently inacurate, I like that they're good parents in this movie!" Colli spoke up with a sweet smile. "I couldn't agree more!" Hunter said softly.
The End

Drabble For Lief ( @liefwrit )
“I suppose you wanna ask me what happened to my lip?” Were the first words Hiro spoke to his brother upon entering their shared room.
There was no telling how long Tadashi had been waiting for his brother to return home from school, but he would have to guess that it had been a few hours. He High School had been rough on the younger Hamada before the elder had graduated last year. Now Hiro’s senior year was shaping up to be more of the same. He had been about to head out to search for him when the thirteen-year-old had returned home. “Yeah I would. Those some guys aren’t bothering you are they?” Hiro’s stubborn silence was all he needed. “They are aren’t they...” He muttered, moving over to his smaller sibling and placing a gentle hand on his shoulder.
Hiro looked away from his brother so he couldn’t see the pain in his eyes. Tadashi didn’t say anything more, he simply pulled his brother into a tight hug. The brothers remained like that for a few more minutes before Tadashi pulled away and looked his brother in the eyes. “Otōto, I promise you that I will find a way to get to to stop. For now... let’s get you cleaned up.”

Tickle Wars
Without much forethought to the consequences, Hiro had fired the first shot in a long, grueling war of giggle fits… But Karmi had little choice than to retaliate against the genius boy’s trickery.
It all began when Karmi was practicing her growing skills as an fledgling roboticist. When Karmi designs a robotic arm to assist her with handling lab specimens, Hiro had assisted to lightly supervise. What she didn’t know, was that he had tampered with the programming and coded the machine to tickle Karmi, relentlessly. He laughed sinisterly at her giggling despair…
Of course, she vowed revenge for her poor tummy. For weeks, Hiro was paranoid around her as she calmly lurked about. But he would soon hope she had forgotten and gradually let his guard down as time passed.
Truth was, she was putting together a master plan… She knew that Hiro could be very animated when he’s into his gaming. Often finding himself in odd positions… and when he needed his full flow state, he would be upside down with the help of Baymax.
Enlisting the help of the redeemed and reformed Ian, she convinced the former villain to goad Hiro into a rematch in their online fighting game. One that would undoubtedly push the boy to where she needed him… upside down.
All the while, she convinced a certain personal healthcare companion that his primary patient could use “tickle therapy,” as it would improve Hiro’s oxytocin levels for improved mood and blood pressure. Especially if he was frustrated while gaming…
With all of the conditions met, the battle was won before Hiro even realized. The boy genius didn’t know he was playing into her hands…. literally.

“And that’s why its a good idea for you guys to continue damage control!” Megan explained as she pointed towards the powerpoint Basemax had on screen, standing on a stepping stool that made her able to stare down at Hiro and Baymax. “The less repair damages people have to pay during superhero fights, the more they’ll feel at ease when you guys are on patrol, so it’s a good idea to keep damage control or fix up wreckage if it does happen, either from your end or the villains.”
“That is an excellent idea.” Baymax chimed in. Hiro watched with an amused smile. “And you got all of this in just 3 days?” “Well, I came prepared.” Megan winked at him.
“I noticed.” After the fugitive fiasco, Megan offered to help the team’s image so there wouldn’t be a repeat of a warrant of their arrest or threats of disbanding from an angry public, and Hiro had to admit, having a publicist so far was working wonders on stress-relief. “Same time next week?” “Same time next week.”
---
Little bg practice with the dorks. I like the idea of Megan being the PR agent of Big Hero 6 and helping keeping them in good relations with the public so the Fugitive Arc would never repeat, and she does a pretty good job of keeping tabs on the civillian’s opinion of the team and where they need improvements.

I'm the type of person who makes a bunch of different stories and AUs in my head, think up the prompt, make the climax, the story plot and who the character are and or are portrayed to be, make art for them, draw them as such, and imagine writing about it.
And then never really do because I get nervous so now I have a bunch of different prompts and scenarios I don't know what to do with, so hey if anyones looking for inspiration or is even just bored and want something to write about, 🤷🏽‍♂️.
I'm like an AU or Prompt dealer.

I got a request from @baymaxfangirl a while back to draw Karmi in a Captain Cutie cosplay for Halloween, but then I saw in Obake Yashiki how little kids dressed as the members of the team. Next thing you know, I had to draw Karmi walk with Nora on Halloween night as their favorite BH6 members: Captain Cutie and “Speedy Girl” respectively!
Happy Halloween! 🎃

I have 55 fics on AO3. 15 from 2012 alone, 10 from 2013, and 15 again from 2015. 11 in 2016. 1 in 2017. 1 in 2018.
2019 might be the year I end up writing fanfic again? (my fanfic writing always goes in cycles) Even if I don’t write a whole bunch I’m apparently on track to write at least one thing this year

Inventing Charisma
Moving to San Fransokyo was the most terrifying thing he had ever done, and Marco forced himself not to include the financial cost of the relocation across the country. In hopes of fulfilling his dream of becoming an engineer to design and edit robots, the only institute that offered the necessary programs was San Fransokyo Institute of Technology. And frankly, the young robotics engineer missed the fields of home. How small and intimate the town of Trost was with its population size. His family and friends wished Marco well before he took those cautious, brave steps towards the terminal.
Once off the airplane and a week blurred together without warning, Marco found himself heartbroken and thankful he had his ESA with him. Unlike the acronym—Emotional Support Animal—Marco invented an Electronic Support Animal, designed to care for their owners and equipped with a myriad of functions. The ESA could speak the owner’s native language when communication was needed, but otherwise would sound like a living canine. Contacting emergency response teams, accessing weather reports and news, health scans, and that was the beginning. Callaghan was impressed at the conference and Marco accepted the invitation to the institute without hesitation.
Now, that leaves him alone in a world not traveled by, alone in the streets of San Fransokyo.
Feet guided him further onto the institute’s grounds, his golden retriever—Sandy—padding eagerly beside her owner. Anxiety began to swell inside Marco’s chest, second-guessing coming here to scout out the student research lab on a weekend instead of school hours. The campus was buzzing no doubt, but the thought of wondering aimlessly was what fueled the beast within. The autumn breeze ruffled his raven locks as he continued travelling the paved sidewalk, suddenly jerking forward when Sandy abruptly ran ahead of Marco.
“Sandy, heel!” Marco commanded, caught off guard by the sudden move. She was well behaved, and—well—a robot; she was programmed to follow protocol and verbal commands. Why was Marco forced to chase after the dangling leash? “Sandy!”
This robotic canine couldn’t be detecting emotional turmoil from another person in a moment’s notice, could it?
A golden coat disappeared around the corner, hearing a startled yelp and a concerned whine from Sandy. Sharp thumps met his rib cage, rounding the corner to find Sandy pressed against a young man inches taller than he, chuckling softly as he gave into the canine snuggling up to his legs. When the male noticed Marco’s presence, he gave a warm smile despite the exhausted facial expression.
“Is this your dog?” He inquired despite keeping his balance.
“Yeah, this is Sandy, my ESA.” Marco answered with a smile, watching how gentle the male was with her. Tender rubs behind her ears. Loving pats to her back. Sandy was more than content with the twinkle in her eyes. “I created her for the conference and she’s who I owe my success to.”
“Sandy…she’s beautiful.” He echoed in awe, inspecting her to find the panel behind her neck. “How long did it take to build her?”
“A month for the blueprints and a little over five months until I got everything in place.” Came the nervous chuckle, finding the male sighing in genuine amusement.
“That’s incredible! I wish I could get my project done that fast.” He breathed, peering up at Marco at the gentle hum.
“You will. If you’ve put enough dedication into it, I’m sure you’ll finish your project.” Marco encouraged, his chest warming at the smile curving on the male’s lips. From the way dark hues eyed him, Marco knew that was probably the only positive thing that had happened all day.
“It needs some tweaking, but Baymax should be finished soon.” He thought aloud, adding a soft “hopefully” under his breath. “Anyways, I’m heading back to the lab if you would like to join?”
“Ah, the student research lab?”
“That’s the one!”
“I actually came here looking for that.” Marco laughed nervously, rubbing his neck awkwardly as the male’s laughter sang melodies.
“Well, you’ve come to the right place.” He concluded, suddenly taken back. “I’m really off kilter today, I’m so sorry I didn’t introduce myself.” An outstretched hand welcomed Marco, his smile returning as if it never left. “Tadashi Hamada.”
“Marco Bodt.”
There was a certain…warmth? Strength? There was something pulling Marco closer to Tadashi, and the friendly atmosphere reinforced his theory that people like him do exist—that charisma like this is far from extinct. When Marco met his eyes, the first thought popping to mind was “We’re going to be best friends.”
Not the most sensible thought when one meets a stranger, but instincts told him that this would not be the last they interacted. That they would become friends in record time, that adventures awaited them.
And Marco, for the first time, felt at ease around a new person.
All thanks to the charismatic, genuine soul of Tadashi Hamada.                            ______________                                                                                                                                                                                                                    Something I owed for a friend and it’s post worthy! There needs to be more of these two cinnamon rolls, the world needs this purity.

God I hope I’m not late but Wasabi + the word “forget” (??)
Wasabi lived by a schedule. In order to maintain that schedule, he kept himself organized. He knew where everything was at all times. So why on Earth could he not find his wallet?
It wasn’t in its designated spot. Nowhere to be found around his lab station. Where could it have gone?
Don’t panic, he told himself, feeling around his pockets in hopes that it’d be there. No luck. His heart began to beat at a faster pace due to thoughts of his wallet being stolen. Calm down. Retrace your steps.
Wasabi thought back to the last time he remembered seeing it. The gang was at Fred’s mansion the previous night. “Did I leave it there?” He asked himself. He shook his head, recalling that he placed his wallet in his van after they left.
Wait, my car! That’s where it could be!
After spending a half hour searching through his van, he came to the conclusion that his currently missing wallet wasn’t there either. He considered asking his friends if they knew about where it could be, but he figured they wouldn’t know.
He thought back to this morning. His day started out on the wrong foot due to sleeping through his alarm. Only having forty-five minutes to shower, get dressed, grab all his stuff and drive over to the cafe for breakfast was no easy task.
That’s when it hit him. He forgot his wallet at home. He had left it on his nightstand.
Groaning in frustration, Wasabi knew there was no way he would be able to drive there, get his wallet and come back on campus without being late to class. The last thing he needed was for this day to get worse. Sighing, he began to walk back to the robotics lab, deciding he’d grab it later in the afternoon.
“Well, at least no one stole it,” he muttered, trusting that the rest of his day could go without problems.

okay but,
if the fujitas were used in the bh6 tv series then imagine this.
the three of them are sisters who are just trying to make a living after the death of their parents or guardians and the eldest has mental troubles because all she wants to do is stand by her sisters and do right.

congrats y’all, you’re getting my incomplete Big Hero 6 fic recs list because I feel a desperate need to scream with someone about at least one of these:
Nakama Maintenance Workshop 101 AU, Becky_Blue_Eyes, (specifically the following):
Five Alarm Death March: “Because despite Tadashi being a good person, Hiro is his baby brother, his otouto, and grief can do savage things to the gentle mind. Dark AU.”
Jazz Elective Antipathy: “Abigail Callaghan walks with murder in her heels, and sways a new dimension in her hips. Canon compliant, experimental in style, Abigail-centric.”
It’s a Body Shock: “In which Hiro and Abigail become student and TA, then genius and adviser, then friends surpassing dimensions. AU, sequel to Jazz Elective Antipathy, connected to Five Alarm Death March.”
The Jishinko Chronicles: “They are the movers and shakers of San Fransokyo, the protectors and the innovators, and their stories are immortal. A collection of drabbles in the It's a Body Shock post canon U, sprinkled with various dramas, character relationships, and possible AUs.”
Three things about this series:
I read the Five Alarm/Jazz Elective/Body Shock trio 6 years ago on FFN when the fics were first written and every time I think about BH6, I still think about them. If that doesn't speak to how memorable they are, I don't know what else would.
The Fujita arc in The Jishinko Chronicles is one of the most creative and in-depth explorations of the fandom's infamous roller geisha ever.
......I would die for this AU's Abigail Callaghan and her stubborn, utter determination to cast off the legacy her father leaves for her after she wakes up. Also her hoverboard, but what else is new.)
Twist of Fate, WillowBlueJay17: “A small twist of fate can change quite a lot about a story. But, in the end, a brother still grieves. A story that looks to offer a different but familiar approach to the story if a certain something had happened differently.”
This fic emotionally traumatized me and I cried at least twice reading it. Everyone should read it.
....anyway the lines "Tadashi Hamada was nine years old when he became an orphan. Tadashi Hamada was twenty years old when he became an only child" GUTTED me and if I had to experience that pain so do y'all.
The Big Heroes series, by Nike:
A Few Seconds Difference: “"Hear that? That's my heartbeat. And as long as my heart's beating, I'm going to be there for you, even if it means following you into something dangerous. Big brother's prerogative. Got it?" Because Tadashi would make an awesome superhero.”
Gogo Tomago and the Roller Derby of Doom: “While Fred, Honey, and Wasabi are out of town at a convention, Gogo's going to risk life, limb, and her secret identity in order to participate in the biggest, baddest roller derby in San Fransokyo. Because the grand prize? Is Hiro and Tadashi Hamada.”
The Opposite of Falling: “When Hiro Hamada first met Mary Ito, he quickly decided he didn't like her. But feelings can change, especially when several villainous plots collide and end up threatening their friends and family. Now he somehow has to keep them alive and in one piece while stuck alone in his civilian identity. If only she wasn't crushing on Tadashi...”
Loads of fun, lots of worldbuilding, sadly incomplete.
Magnets for Trouble, by ViperPitOfDoom: “Months after Callaghan's downfall, Hiro receives a surprise in the mail: a special invitation to this year's Stark Expo. With Fred for company, he leaves the protection of the city temporarily in the hands of the rest of the team and flies across the country to meet the man with twice the brains and bank account of Alistair Krei and several times the infamy. But of course, it can't be that simple, can it? Really, after how his last expo went, he should have seen this coming.”
*whistles* guys, this fic. This fic. You go in thinking it’s just gonna be another dumb MCU crossover but y’all. It is so much more than that. Anyway, BH6xMCU crossover, featuring the continued story of trauma recovery, Hiro geeking out over getting to meet the Avengers, secret conspiracies, car chases, identity reveals, Fred-Hiro bonding, and one very, very special guest. Oh yeah....Hydra’s there too.
A Wolf in His Belly, by SpiritusRex: “Things get a little more interesting when Hiro sees his brother's daemon outside of the flames, knows that his brother isn't dead after running into the fire, and then decides to run in after him. After all, someone's got to help. He and his own daemon are more than cut out for the job. (Or: the "everyone has daemons" AU that no one asked for, but I picked up and sprinted with anyways.)
Mighty Long Fall, by hystericalcherries and njckle: “It's been years since that tragic day and Hiro finally gets his second chance. Though it isn't exactly what he imagined, he'll take it, doing everything and anything he can to ensure that his brother lives. Whether it's dealing with Yokai or San Fransokyo's crime district, including those ever evasive Fujitas, Hiro will do what he must- no matter what the cost.”
A Rose in Any Other Language, by kabukichou: “Tadashi could try to force the Japanese on him as much as possible, but Hiro refused to learn a language just to honor the foggy and indistinct memories of a father he barely knew.”
Speed Dating, by L.C. Li: “Gogo Tomago's got a thousand problems, but a boy ain't one. Right?” Tomadashi.
five times she falls, by Tsuru Maiden:  Five times GoGo Tomago falls, but only once does she cry.” Tomadashi.
Scientist, by FieryArtemis: “Three years ago, Tadashi Hamada woke up in a secret underground compound with no memories to speak of. Those who rescued him were not the good guys, a group called Hydra. One year ago, he escaped. Now, going by the name 'Chiune,' he's on a mission to stop Hydra from capturing a young group of Superheroes for evil purposes. Hydra's target is Big Hero 6.”
Talk to the Hand, by SomebodyAwesomeSauce: “Who doesn't listen after that's been said? Tadashi survives miraculously but neither brother is the same. Tadashi's near-death has changed them, in ways even Fred thought impossible. When faced with a difficult question, is it better to know, or remain in blissful ignorance? Some things are better left unspoken.”
*smirks* aka, “the AU where Hiro and Tadashi accidentally acquire superpowers after the fire, because trauma is great for waking up latent abiilites.”
The Rubber Band Theory series, by Selene_Eleganza, starting with The Rubber Band Theory: “Some say that the mind is like a rubber band; it stretches and grows with use, never returning to the state it began in, and like a rubber band, it can grow brittle and hard with disuse.
People tell stories of individuals with extraordinary abilities, abilities that extend with the use of their minds: Pyrokinesis, Telekinesis, Cyrokinesis, Pathokinesis, Telepathy, and any number of other abilities. But every story has a grain of truth, doesn’t it? People have long forgotten that little grain of truth; there were some people who truly possessed abilities of those calibers.
But when you leave a rubber band alone for too long, it shrinks and snaps easily. And like the forgotten truth, the rubber band was lost in time. Until now.”
Aka, the OTHER AU where Hiro and Tadashi accidentally find out they’ve had superpowers the whole time.
The Only Pay-Off (For Having Any Faith), by Hedgi: “Gogo called it "intuition," Wasabi called it "luck," Honey Lemon called it "big brother instinct,” and Fred called it "A real-life super-power." Tadashi Hamada called it "ten years of experience" and "access to tracking devices."
No matter what, Tadashi will always protect his brother, would do anything for his brother--even help a villain with a revenge plot like something out of Fred's comics. Canon compliant until the fire, then all bets are off. Contains kidnapping, emotions, and puns.”

*runs into the askbox* SO ALEX!... ow I hit the askbox wall. Anyways do you have any upcoming bh6 projects you wanna share? Like fanfictions, comics, etc you're gonna be working on? (this isn't the first ask I'm gonna send sorrynotsorry 1/2)
Ok so here are my projects:
Big Hero 6 The Series: Upgraded (formerly known as Big Hero 6: Next Gen, it is a next gen spinoff focusing on the next generation of our original cast and some new original characters)
Two stories focusing on my oc Nicky/Pierrett: It’s an Acrobat’s Life and one other fic I haven’t named yet. The former is a prequel fic set five years before the events of Portal Enemy, about how Nicky crossed paths and ended up being lowkey adopted by Sirque. The second one is a lighter, more comical fic focusing on their dynamic with Hiro.
Some more drabbles
A reimagining of City of Monsters, maybe will do one for fugitives as well. The reimagining of arc 2 is gonna be called Kaibutsu for now (after that one YOASOBI song that I still couldn’t get enough of)

Title: Trouble at the Troubadour.
Fandom/Movie: Rocketman.
Pairing: Ray Williams x Fem! Reader.
Words: 1,605.
Rating: T. ( Implications of sex. )
Summary: What would happen if you met the young Ray Williams, who was there to keep an eye on Elton John and Bernie Taupin, at Elton’s first gig at the Troubadour?
It’s a literal ‘eyes meet and sparks fly’ sort of moment for Ray. His heart fluttered excitedly, forgetting his surroundings for a moment and the fact that Bernie had been chatting to him a second ago before the music started, before Ray looked at you through a seemingly thick fog of smoke that was a barrier between the two of you. For a second, the young music producer was unsure if you had seen him like he had seen you, so clear in a room full of others, as you were being pushed around by people who were making their way in and out, but the single moment your eyes met, lights shining in your eyes like the sun afterwards as the stage lights above you readjusted and the spotlight found Elton on the stage, something hit the back of your head like a small headache.
He slips. The silky nature of his shirt caused no friction and Ray found himself almost falling straight on his face as he leaned against the wall next to him, trying to appear as calm and collect despite the riot that was stirring inside of his body. The moment Ray looks up, you’re gone and he laughs it off to Bernie who’s currently laughing his ass off but manages to mutter a small ‘are you okay, mate?’ to Ray who replies, “Might need some water, lay off the beer.” Before sliding his way to the bar, playing with the sleeves of his floral shirt nervously as his doe eyes gazed around and tried to spot you in the crowd.
You were lost, or so Ray thought as he leaned against the wood of the bar, his right side being pushed by a boy and girl together as they rocked to the music being played on the stage. Ray noted the song and elevated ‘la-la-la’s that were being sung by Elton so happily and leaned back against the bar, now facing the stage as he crossed his arms over his chest.
“I’ve never heard this song before but I love it!” Ray’s thick eyebrows furrowed at the sound of that voice mixing in with the piano keys and singing floating around him and tightening its grip on his already fuzzy mind. That voice was speaking directly to him as he glanced to to the left and was struck down by a moment of a string of falsetto notes. You. The… The person he had seen across the way, the person who had been looking at him at the exact moment he had been searching for something. Something longing, something obscure, like a treasure map that had been passed down but he ultimately found it in your eyes as you raised your drink and pressed it to your lips and raised one of your hands and waved it along to the melody of the music.
“You…” He cleared his throat and laughed, tossing his head back as his brown hair followed the movement in the clouded room full of cigarette smoke and loud vibrations. It felt like the entire building was shaking with excitement much like his thoughts. “You like it? I brought him here! From The UK.”
“No way,” You giggled and covered your mouth, leaning towards him instinctively to hear his voice over the banging of the keys on the piano, “that’s got to be a line you use to get girls.”
Ray smiled bashfully at that, his slightly drunk mind wrapping around the situation finally as he experimentally put a hand on your waist to keep you near him, not wanting to risk the fact that you could disappear much like you had before. “I’ve got a one way to the party after the gig if that’s proof enough for you. I can even introduce you to him, the singer, I mean. Elton John. I discovered him! I’ve got a keen instinct with talent!”
“Very peachy keen.” Licking your lips, you caught his eyes again and let him know silently that the hand on your waist was welcomed by letting your hips roll towards him, subtly as if someone had bumped into you and you were forced to move closer.
“Wait, wait!” You held up a hand and laughed hard, your upper half hunching forward with a small wheezing laughter that Ray found enchanting and cute, causing himself to laugh alongside with you. The firelight that was in front of you casted shadows against your face and his dilated eyes, which appeared more black now rather than his natural color of brown, admired. The scrunch of your nose, the wrinkles around your eyes and your laugh lines around your mouth, the glimmer of your teeth… Ray studied, much like he often did and he was enjoying. You two had found yourselves at the party that he had promised. A get together of people you didn’t know, other than Ray, Bernie and Elton who you had the pleasure of meeting. And you also had the pleasure of hearing how Ray met Elton and initially introduced Bernie to him to create a great singer and songwriting team. “You seriously laid all your chips on the table for them? For Elton and Bernie?”
“Yes.” Ray said and raised his eyebrows comically, realizing how risky it must have sounded now that he was laying down the fact that he had practically begged on his hands and knees to give them a chance, to convince Dick that Ray indeed had an instinct and sensed their talent. “I know, it sounds— well absolutely bonkers, but you know how some like to gamble? This was my idea of gambling and hey!” Ray licked his lips and chuckled, tilting his head to the side as your fingers idly played with the split open sleeves of his button up shirt. “It paid off! Here we are, America. Just played one rather successful night at the Troubadour! And we’ve still got more!!!”
“Y’don’t think you just got lucky?” You bit your bottom lip and found yourself cradling his fingers in yours tenderly. Ray’s eyes shot down and admired the sensation, how soft and gentle you caressed him with care as if he’d break right in front of you before his dark, doe eyes fluttered back upwards to captivate you into a slow stare.
“I do-don’t believe so.” He admitted in a hushed voice and despite knowing that there was noise around you two, others talking, the cracking of the fire, the music playing from an unknown stereo, Ray felt as if it were dead silent. “I mean, if it were one time luck then how do you explain how we ended up meeting?”
It was your turn to tilt your head at that as a smile graced your features, your face turning towards the fire for a split second at the implications of his simple words. He was right; call it luck or fate, but you two met eyes and seemed almost destined to meet earlier thus leading you to this secluded moment under the starlight in front of a firepit, detached enough from the party that you felt comfortable enough to let yourself loose in front of him. “That’s a good point, Ray. I guess you’re not lucky and you’re just good at what you do.”
Wiggling his eyebrows at your compliment, you pushed his chest with your free hand and giggled, “Not like that!”
“I didn’t say it.”
“Yeah, but your face!”
“That’s simply my face.” Ray licked his lips and scooted towards you, lifting his hand and gesturing to his face, “That’s just how my face looks.” Now that the attention was drawn to it, you noticed how long his eyelashes were as they looked as if they were brushing against his cheeks as he glanced at your lips. They also shadowed against his rosy cheeks, the silence sinking in comfortably as you moved towards him this time. Ray stiffened momentarily, swallowing audibly when you dropped his hand and let your palm cup his thigh.
“So, you’re not lucky and… That’s just how your face looks.” Humming, you nodded and stifled a laugh.
“If you don’t believe me, we can test my luck.” He suggested, popping his mouth and peering back into your eyes though you didn’t mind the attention his gaze was giving your lips. Hoping that your face conveyed the emotion of ‘go ahead, try me’, your upper half straightened up before leaning towards him, both of Ray’s hands coming up instinctively and cupping your face tenderly between them. “You know, it’s not like me to kiss on the first date.”
“Is that what this was?” You teased, shutting your eyes and allowing him to close the gap whenever he built up the courage to do so. “Thought this was you just gettin’ lucky again.”
“Mmmm. Funny.” He murmured this time from almost gritted teeth before he softened his expression as plump lips rested against yours in a barely there sort of graze. It wasn’t chaste, in fact, Ray seemed to linger as you sunk into it, letting your lips apply pressure against his with a small inhale of satisfaction. Intensity broke out, your hands coming to rest on his chest and idly playing with the buttons around the silky fabric as you moaned, feeling Ray shift in front of you to deepen the kiss, one hand remaining on your face while the other slipped effortlessly into your hair to keep you close even when you pulled away with a small huff. “See? No-not lucky… just…. Good at what I do.”
“Mhm. Keep telling yourself that.” You joked against his mouth, dipping into him for another kiss.
