Four. Four soulmates. Oh Kamisama no! - Reader x ShiggyOverDabiHawks 8

Chapter 1 Chapter 2 Chapter 3 Chapter 4 Chapter 5 Chapter 6 Chapter 7 Chapter 9 Chapter 10 Chapter 11
💞 Chapter 8 - Fives a crowd?
Well, that answers that question about which timeline they are from. You mentally face palm yourself. Right during the Overhaul arc. You swallow, shaking off your heebie jeebie as best as you could. Great, they are doing to start a war in my house. And I'm the one who started it. Big oops.
"You take my arms." Overhaul grit his teeth. "Leaving me stranded on the side of the road, bleeding, helpless, quirkless and steal the last two years of my life's work?"
If you thought you saw Overhaul angry, he looked murderous now. You knew he could do fullmetal alchemist level of overpowered bullshit with his quick. And all without the equivalent exchange at that. Before Deku took him down, the yakuza birdman was like a Greek God on the battlefield, fought dirty, ferocious and tenacious. Hell, even his Monsterhaul form was badass.
If Deku hadn't been there. You had no doubt that Lemillion and Sir NightEye would have both died as messed up as that sounded. Sir had saw a future in which Deku died and got away.
"Serves you right, Overhaul. You owed us an arm after all, isn't that what you said?" Shigaraki chuckles. "Oh? And the point of playing Shogi was dethroning the King, right? You lost to that brat, game over."
"Talk about bad karma catchin' up to you, beaky." Dabi replies.
"You're one to talk Shigaraki." Overhaul pointed out, pointing at one of the covers of the manga. "That little pest beats you too."
You were already mentally and emotionally drained, tired. You just wanted to go to bed. "Alright." You stood to your feet again and interrupted the Villains spat. "I'm going to go change out of my work clothes and then we can prepare dinner." You drag your blanket with you. "I don't care what. Just please pick something and I'd appreciate it, if one of you helps me in the kitchen." You pause, peeking over your shoulder and adding. "Whoever doesn't help cook washes the dishes."
The men watch you leave.
"I'll be damned she is a bossy little thing." Dabi grins in amusement, standing and heading towards the window for another smoke break. "She's got grit. I'll give'er that."
"Bossy, bratty, control freak like some other annoying bird we know." Shigaraki huffs and crossing his arms.
Hawks' chuckles, smiling softly. "It's cute you gotta admit that. She's taking all this incredible well for a civilian."
"You mean she's a weirdo." Shigaraki grumbles.
Overhaul sat in silence, his lips twitch. You are quite bold to boss them around, holding your ground and stepping your foot down. Any other person would have been screaming for the hills, crying, pleading and trying to escape. But not you. Showing insane amounts of courage, thinking rationally and keeping your wits about you despite your earlier moments of vulnerability and emotional outburst.
The yakuza stood to his feet, unbuttoning his cuffs and rolling up his sleeves to his elbows. "Better go see what we have to work with in the kitchen." He makes his way into the kitchen, opening the fridge, freezer and checking the pantry, thinking to himself in silence.
"It ain't your turn to cook." Hawks protested. Which was odd. He was more laxed out of the group, then again, a way to win over a potential lover was by cooking and to their stomachs. "It's mine."
"Overly greasy and fatty fried chicken, skewer's or otherwise isn't good for her stomach after all the stress she just endured for the past three hours." Overhaul drawled without leaving his gaze from the fully stocked pantry.
"I wasn't going to make fried chicken." Hawks muttered, his cheeks growing rosy. "Besides I can't help if its comfort food."
"Fried rice sounds nice." Overhaul mutters to himself, ignoring the hero. "I'll have to tweak the recipe a bit since we don't have any overnight or dry rice, but no matter." Pulling out the huge plastic container filled with rice, walking to the counter besides the stove, pausing and flickering his golden eyes on the winged bird. "Well? You were complaining and whining about not helping." He raised a brow; his tone was flat with a hint of annoyance. "Either come over here, make yourself useful and help or shut up and get out of the kitchen. I don't care."
Hawks' embarrassment quickly faded; his lips tightened into a strained smile. He went to the fridge, pulling out a carton of eggs, onions, and scallions. "I'll go ahead and cut these."
"Suit yourself." Overhaul replied, pleased to find that you had a rice cooker in one of the lower cabinets, raising a gloved hand and pointing towards the pantry. "The cutting board is over there." Then pointing towards the drawer near the oven. "Knives are on the three drawers to the left."
Hawks blinked. "Damn, you already know your way around her kitchen?"
"Obviously." Overhaul clicked his tongue, stopping himself from rolling his eyes. "If we are going to be stuck here and visiting her home. We need to know our way around." He went back to the oven, setting the rice cooker on the counter, opened the rice container, scooping three cups of rice into scoop you kept inside and poured it in. The sound of the rice hitting the pot filled the silence before the gangster spoke again. "While your over there. Fetch a couple cans of those canned hams would you."
Hawks glared at the nagging, control freak. "Yeah, yeah, I'll get it."
Dabi's voice came from the living room. "Since both birdmen are playing housewives, I assume it's Shiggy's turn to wash dishes tonight, right?"
"What?" Shigaraki protests from the couch, jolting when he nearly disintegrated one of the manga volumes in his hands. He wasn't paying attention until Dabi called his name. "Why me? It isn't my turn." He narrowed his eyes. "It's that germ freaks turn."
Dabi snickered, blowing a smoke ring out the window before taking another hit. "Can you cook anything without burning it or turning it into dust?" Shigaraki said nothings, causing the flame users amused smirk to widen. "That's what I thought. Poor spoiled, sheltered little gamer nerd."
Shigaraki made a noise between a feral cat hissing and a growl. "I can't help it, if Kurogiri never taught me how to cook. He always made everything and when I tried, he'd shove me out."
"Takes real talent to burn a pot of boiling water." The black haired, patchwork villain reminded the other.
You came back wearing an oversize t-shirt with a side profile of Overhaul on it, bedtime shorts that stopped at your mid-thighs that read "Plus Ultra", ankle socks with Toga, Shigaraki and Dabi on them as you towel dried your hair after having freshly showered.
Dabi and Shigaraki paused to check out your bedtime outfit. It was still weird seeing they had merch here, yet they felt amused to find you wearing it. Aside from seeing bird beaks face on your chest.
"Really?" Shigaraki grumbled, tilting his head.
You furrowed your brows, blinking and staring down at your outfits. "What?"
"You seriously picked an outfit with literally each of us on it." The hand villain gestured to all of you.
Oh. You did. "It wasn't on purpose." Your cheeks grew rosy, nearly covering your face with your towel. "It was on top of my pajama pile, that's all."
"Uh huh, sure, doll, sure." Dabi raised a brow, finishing his cigarette and cocking his head to the side as he closed the window. "How cute, our soulmate really is our fangirl. Cringe worthy, but cute."

Can a “😍😙😁” gal and a “💀👿🩸” gal really be besties? Sure seems like it so far.
Based on a scene from Ward 3.3
Recently finished Ward Arc 3! Thoughts below:
Been a while since my first post on Ward, a couple of thoughts:
Arc 2
I like the slower pace so far (we’ll see how long that lasts i suppose). Nice to get little moments like Victoria going to interviews and visiting the kids at the hospital.
Zion really gave one last middle finger to humanity and said “You know what? Automated random horrific death triggers.” Jokes aside, the broken trigger scene was haunting, might draw something based on it in the future.
The therapy group superhero team premise is interesting. Nice to have a band of characters who have mental or emotional weaknesses but have each other’s backs! Now let’s see who they’re up agaisnt- oh, Tattletale? Oh no.
Not too many thoughts on the arc’s interlude, a lot of nice worldbuilding which is always welcome.
Arc 3
Capture the Flag was a fun premise for a friendly fight, and it delivered pretty well in showing off everyone’s powers, strengths and weaknesses. Also nice to see Victoria filling a more mentor/coach role and getting to flex the experience she’s gained with her power in a more positive light. Have some drawing ideas once I figure out how exactly I want to depict stuff like her aura.
Liking the new team so far, though still need to wrap my head around some of the finer details of the powers. Definitely gives me Jojo vibes in how the powers are more complex in the sequel/s.
I realized quickly that Kenzie’s powerset is a lot like my character from my friend’s Worm campaign (which I might write more about later on). Also a surveillance/drone Tinker, though with more focus on multiple drones and material efficiency than Kenzie’s big boxes of large scale holograms and photo-distortion.
Seems the group all have their own little secrets and/or problems they need to work through. Please Vic don’t let any of them near Tattletale they would practically be a freebie for her to take down.
Ok, no Birdcage as I learned from last post. But is there, like, a dead Earth with a one way portal to toss Carol into? Is Sleeper still occupying Earth Zayin? Maybe we should send Carol there on a free vacation I hear it’s a lovely time in… whatever the effect of his power is.
Evil Robot Grocery… ok how do you even fight that. I guess it’s an S-class Threat for a reason but like what option is there other than quarantining and bombarding the entire area they’ve spread to? Do EMPs work? Put Ghost Bakuda to good use and make that Arc 6 Bomb to knock them all out?
Silly rodent themed hero. Close enough, welcome back Mouse Protector Ratcatcher. Also gonna toss her on the list of “characters I should draw some time.”
Amy Dallon finally speaks, and looks like she’s making friends! Friends that are all (at least former) supervillains! That are encouraging her down a darker path! I can only see good things happening here. A little surprised we get her this early from an Interlude rather than from a main chapter, though I suppose it does make sense to flesh her out more now rather than waiting until Victoria directly sees her again in whatever state she’s in by that point (probably a bad one).
That’s all the Ward thoughts I could think of at the moment. Will be reading more, next update hopefully won’t take 2 months again (but probably will)

Nezu is way too suspicious.
His Quirk allows him to cause chain reactions, a fact explicitly stated by Midnight, who also made sure to remind us that he holds a grudge against humans. We don’t know the full extent of his abilities, but we do know that his foresight is extensive—so much so that he planned specific routes for Kaminari and Mina to take during a crisis. That suggests his influence is incredibly far-reaching.
And Midnight? The only UA staff member who isn’t around anymore. Suspicious.
Now, let’s talk about Nezu’s involvement in key events:
1. The USJ Attack
• He’s one of the few who knew about AM’s Quirk, its limitations, and how little time he had left.
• Nezu deliberately held up All Might, making him even later to the attack than he was already going to be.
• If Nezu wasn’t directly involved in setting up the attack, he at the very least played a role in ensuring AM wouldn’t be there in time to prevent it.
2. The Successor Plot
• Nezu was part of the selection process for AM’s successor, encouraging him to choose a UA student before Deku even entered the picture.
• He personally voted for Deku’s acceptance into the Hero Course.
• He knew Deku and Katsuki were from the same middle school, likely remembered them from the sludge incident(which was in the paper) and saw that they some of the highest scores in separate categories.
• Then, he placed them in the same class and observed their very complicated relationship firsthand.
3. The Sports Festival & Its Consequences
• He allowed Katsuki to be tied up on live in an event that replaced the Olympics in popularity.
• Which directly led to him gaining the League of Villains’ interest.
• At the same time, this put Katsuki on Jeanist’s radar—setting up a future mentor-student relationship.
• All of this put even more pressure on Katsuki, forcing him to prove himself.
4. The Training Camp
• Nezu was one of the very few people who knew the camp’s secret location
Possibly even picked the location
Was in charge of many pros would be there.
Was vastly easier to kidnap Katsuki in this setting rather than the other failed attempts
AM conveniently wasn’t present.
(Frankly I think these play a big role than one student leaking the location)
5. Katsuki’s rescue and AM’s Retirement
• led directly to AM refacing AFO instead of the LOV
He then burnt out the last embers of his power, forcing him to retire.
• This intensified Katsuki’s suspicions about AM and Deku, making him dig deeper into their relationship.
• The guilt lessened Katsuki’s performance during the Provisional License Exam, which he failed—leaving him out of the work studies.
6. The Ripple Effects on Katsuki & Deku
• Because Katsuki wasn’t eligible for work studies, he missed Deku’s battle with Chisaki.
• This fight also cemented Deku’s personal investment in Eri, and reinforced his need to break rules for the sake of others.
• Deku’s actions, in turn, saved UA’s reputation by overshadowing another potential scandal.
6. The Long-Term Setup
• Jeanist was taken out of commission during Katsuki’s rescue, freeing him up for later.
• Nezu actively discouraged his staff from searching for a traitor among them.
• He finally implemented the UA dorm system, something he had been advocating for but never acted on—until now.
• He reassured AM that if nothing suspicious happened after the students moved into the dorms, then there was nothing to worry about.
7. The Final Stage: The War Arc & Beyond
• By the time of the war, Katsuki had matured emotionally and was able to fight alongside Deku for the first time in a villain attack.
• He had also become even more deeply connected to Deku, setting the stage for their intertwined fates.
8. Nezu’s Endgame?
And here’s what fucks me up the most—Nezu easily agreed to let the students ambush Endeavor and hunt Deku down.
It was never even a question whether that was in his power, Uraraka knew it would be, so it’s just common knowledge? 🤨
But how does he have the power to do that, like imagine being one of the leaders heading off a fascist uprising and your sons hs principal demands you come in and you have to because you used to go to school there???
And then UA becomes the shelter during the war, but it doesn’t come as like government mandate, it’s Nezus choice something he does as a concerned and caring individual
In the end nearly everyone who rebuilds society is a UA alumni, and Deku, the face of the war, now works there!!
So society has an intense gratitude to UA for holding them during the war, an intense admiration for producing all these heros, and there’s apparently a rule/law(?) that you are beholden to your old principles meetings even when the worlds ending 💀
Nezu owns society and he planned it!!!

Starlo apologist speaks again
this picture right here.. i hate it sm.
Tumblr media
TIME TO DEBUNK EVERYTHIN', YEEHAW!
#1 Starlo's name is uncool on purpose might literally mean 'Starloser' It fits his character arc. In other words, he's not the cool, badass sheriff he pretends to be (he's not 'North Star'), but a kind, friendly farmer inside
#2 He definitely DOES care about Clover. Why else would he keep saying he's proud of them, praise them, believe in them, get worried about their safety, send them a warning letter, immediately run to check what's going on with them, get angry at Clover for not staying HOME (yeah he really did consider the Wild East their home) tell Martlet to bring Clover to safety, and jump at Ceroba to try and protect them? don't question the love of star daddy
#3 Undyne actually IS a badass. Starlo isn't. He's a softie who cares about pretending to be cool bc he's insecure, even when in a situation where he could die. He wants to be a hero. He wants to be SOMEBODY, not a NOBODY. Maybe he also cared about his own status more than his town, friends and family (which could be the reason he brought a bb gun). Or he just wanted to buy time so the others could hide. Now that I think about it, it's the latter. Why else would Dina say this in genocide after you kill Ceroba: "He was more of a hero than you'll ever be." That's the whole point of his geno fight that, and a lil bit of angst when roba finds him dying IT'S CALLED CHARACTERIZATION
#4 He kidnaps Clover bc they're a human. The only human who's ever set foot on the sands of the Wild East. He's obsessed with human culture. His whole life ARE westerns. Why? Whether it's the sense of justice cowboys represent, the exciting lives they live, or both, Starlo feels like he matters thanks to this nerdy interest, like he can contribute to his community
#5 i see Martlet as a big sis not a mom bc of how young she is, despite that one joke in bits & bites, but to each their own Star jails Martlet bc of the potential of the Wild East getting shut down. She did threaten to report them to Asgore and well... according to him, better safe than sorry. He even admitted he doesn't feel right doing it
#6 It WAS wrong of him to blame and attack Clover like that, all for his own status and ego (and to get his friends back) It's called a flawed character making a fucking mistake. Or did you expect someone perfect, with no room to grow and develop throughout the piece of media? Also, Clover is not an infant, they're a child. If it was meant to be a joke, it ain't funny bucko
#7 he either actually forgot about the fact he himself kidnapped Clover bc he wasn't in the right mindset (understandable), or purposefully ignored the information to avoid responsibility for his actions & shift the blame onto Clover (he IS flawed and thats more than ok)
#8 in neutral, he doesn't apologize bc Ceroba doesn't come and snap him out of his fantasy & mindset
#9 he did his best with the apology. you can't blame starlo. He's not very good with expressing himself and emotions in general (that he has been avoiding for so long via escapism; he also uses escapism to help Ceroba instead of talking openly with her)
#10 he doesn't know how the ceroba & clover interaction played out bc he was unconscious. Maybe he thought Clover had managed to talk her outta fighting. He says in true pacifist "Yall had a fight?? and the deputy won??" In other words he didnt know they had even fought. To add fuel to the fire, his bff just died and star, being the forgiving sweetheart he is, had wanted to give her a chance at redemption, but never got the chance to. He never got the chance to say goodbye, either.
#11 just bc starlo's an adult doesn't mean he can't have these flaws/behaviors. Every individual is unique. Starlo is deff deeply insecure and most likely autistic, too. Please think about that in the future, thank you
my current feelings can best be described by good old Axis

Dying Twice
My return to the Resident Evil fandom simply would not be complete without this post.
This post is about Piers Nivans, the most heroic and worthy protagonist ever to give his life for the cause. It is about my son, my blorbo before blorbos were even a thing, the character who changed me as a person just from playing this game.
Chapter 5 of Resident Evil 6's Chris campaign starts with the descent into Hell. They've tracked Sherry and Jake to an underwater base off the coast of China, where Carla Radames housed her greatest projects. As they descend down to the sea floor, Chris and Piers talk about the fate of the world and the future--which leads Chris to say that he wants to retire and give his position to Piers, trusting the BSAA and the future of the world to him.
Tumblr media
Piers, of course, says he isn't ready--but we don't believe him. We believe Chris, who believes in him, and we've been given every reason to. We've seen the character arc Chris went through, descending into the spiral of petty vengeance, losing focus and losing his new team as a result, feeling that crushing responsibility, but pulling out of it and getting a hold of himself thanks to Piers.
Throughout the story, Piers has been Chris' rock, his tie to the world in spite of raging emotional instability, constantly obeying his orders even when he disagrees with them but never doing so without calling Chris on his terrible decisions and advising him on how to do better.
Chris is emotional, guys. Even as a storied, skilled veteran of the fight against bioterror, his flaws remain consistent and acknowledged, as they have been since Resident Evil 1. He carries immense survivor's guilt and blames himself when others die, even when it isn't his fault--and spirals when it actually is. We see that he treats his soldiers like a family, and is suitably devastated when he fails them and they die. Piers isn't playing some polar opposite to him this whole time--he's just as emotional and driven as Chris, but keeps Chris steady. The whole reason the story even happens is because Piers went back to Edonia, tracked down Chris, and brought him back into the BSAA to be a hero once again. He brought photos of those men they lost with him--Ben Airhart, Carl Alfonso, Andy Walker, and of course, Finn Macauley. To force Chris to remember. Because even though Chris wanted to forget--the most human response he could've had--Piers couldn't let him do it, because forgetting them would've been the same as killing them twice.
Tumblr media
Piers does not fucking rest, he does not fucking quit. He doesn't sleep until the job is done. Even when faced with the biggest, most nightmarish creature a mind like Carla's could come up with, and every reason to be scared, he doesn't show fear. His only thought is that he has to end this nightmare for the sake of everyone else. It's what makes him so like Chris and so well-fitted to step into his shoes and take up his mantle.
Not to mention the part where he lifted a fucking bulkhead by himself, battle-weary and exhausted, to give Chris' big ass time to climb back up.
Tumblr media
Piers isn't ready to die. He says as much himself while fleeing HAOS, who's trying to smash the whole facility apart to get at him--he says he'll be damned if he's gonna die here. So we know he doesn't want to die. He wants to live, and to fight, and to breathe. But, of course...
The devil catches up with them, and he has to make a choice. He knows he's giving up his life, and he does hesitate--only for a moment--but he goes through with it. There's no other option, and if he doesn't do it, Chris and the world are both doomed. He drags himself over to that syringe and willingly gives up his life and humanity to save them. Piers, you fucking immortal legend.
Tumblr media
The final fight, in fact, can't be won without Piers, as without his lightning ability, HAOS will just regenerate in its Chrysalid every time it takes enough damage.
After that thing goes down for the seeming last time, Chris and Piers have their talk. Piers opens by apologizing. He's sorry that he did this--that he did the one thing BSAA soldiers, the people who fight bioterror, aren't supposed to do. That he gave up his humanity. He has this pleading tone to him, like the sound of a man trying to explain himself to someone he expects will be disgusted or disappointed or even angry.
Tumblr media
The way Chris takes his hand behind his head and makes him look him in the eye, forces him to swallow any self-sacrifice bullshit, assures him they are both getting out of there alive...
Tumblr media
He knew what Piers was thinking, and was having none of it. No more losses. No more good men dying.
It's all Piers can do to flee the facility as it collapses around them, and he's collapsing with it, the C-Virus taking over his body. Chris reassures him that they're both getting out--and he nods, but you can see the doubt on his face. And he knows how this ends, no matter how much he doesn't want it to. There's only one path to victory left.
Tumblr media
The heroic music stops as the camera pans down to his ruined, mutated arm. It takes on a sad tone as he looks at his one remaining human arm, looking at the patch on it. Thinking of one last thing to give him. You can see it on his face. When Chris reaches his hand out, and Piers takes it, you can already see the BSAA patch missing from his sleeve.
Tumblr media
The way Chris screams, pleads, begs him not to do it. And you can see him hesitating. Chris begs him to get in the pod, to come with him, tells him there's still time. And you can see that he wants to. He wants so badly to go with him but he knows he can't, and he forces it down and heads for the control panel.
Tumblr media
And all he can do is smile sadly. No words left. Just one little memento. Something to remember him by.
Tumblr media
That's all he wanted. All he really needed, to make it okay. So long as Chris remembered. So long as he didn't choose to forget again, so long as he didn't let him die twice.
I've always yearned for nothing less than for Capcom to take this back. To undo his death and bring back the man who made me cry so hard when it seemed like he had so much more to give. But I've always understood why he did it. That whole thing is who Piers was from start to finish--to not let people die for nothing. I don't think I could ever not cry watching the death of a man who loves life so much.
You know, I actually knew before I played the game that Piers died. That's the nature of spoilers, that even seconds after launch the news can be out. But I still played it, and still got invested, because I didn't know for sure if that was the truth or just a rumor. And I didn't know how he died. All I could assume was that maybe he took a bullet for Chris and would be some fallen partner to avenge before the final boss, to give the story some kick.
I didn't know it would unfold like this. I didn't know I'd come to love him so much. Resident Evil 5 me could not have pictured, could not ever have imagined Resident Evil 6. Protagonists might die, but heroes weren't supposed to die. The most I expected was another Steve Burnside, something tragic and meaningful, yes, but still a sacrifice to motivate the hero...not something to almost punish him for coming back to the fight.
But I know why he did it. It still makes me cry, because god damn it, but you have to respect it. He might have died, but he made sure he'd live forever in at least one way.

Fic Master List
redoing this lmao. almost all of these are Warriors centric fics, and if he ain’t the MAIN focus, he’s at least like second. Click titles for the links
Last updated: August 20th
Series:
1. You’re A Part Of Me- [Description] A bunch of fics that focus on Time/Mask and Wars both during the War of Eras and after it. The first fifteen fics or so in this series are pretty unconnected and can be read in any order. They reference each other in small ways but not in any way that would be significant. After part 15, the fics get a little more connected but for the most part can still be read in any order!
Works in this series: Misunderstandings, Melody, Regrets and Regrowth, Overwhelmed, Poisoned (?), Sick Day, Safe, Roots, The Scarf, Recovery, The Medic, Sugar, An Adventure Interrupted, A Moment of Peace, Spilled Secrets, The Following Dusk, Warriors vs. The Sinking Feeling That Time Is Up To No Good, Lost Bets and Cat Sweaters, Melancholy, Drowned & Frozen, Fever, Memento Mori, Asking For Help, Respect, Fragments
2. Fierce Hero 9- [Description] The Big Hero 6 AU no one asked for
Main Story: Fierce Hero 9
Bonus Chapters: Pancakes and Mourning, Beginnings, The Other Universe, Secrets and Sick Days, The Adventures of Mask and Wolfie
3. Linked Through the Centuries- [Description] A bunch of different Links find themselves in a strange land, armed with only one of the things they remember having last in their possession. They need to team up together and figure out why they were sent there, what the threat is, and locate the Hero of Time before it’s too late (this is my own Links Meet AU!)
4. The Midnight Hours- [Description] What takes place between Sunset 14 and Dawn 1 (written before the Dawn arc was finished)
Works in this series: The Midnight Hours, The Following Dusk
5. Big Brother Wars- [Description] Literally just a collection of fics I’ve written of Warriors being a good big brother to various members of the chain :)
Works in this series: Dog Days, Bad Dreams Better Future, Sky’s Terrible Day, Misconceptions, Closer, Really It’s Just A Scratch
Multi Chapter Fics:
Of Officers and Stuffed Elephants- Summary: Being an officer at Castle Town Police Department meant that each day was full of surprises, but one specific call comes in one day that completely changes Wars’s life
The Longest Battle- (written with @hero-of-the-wolf) Summary: After a difficult journey during the day full of obstacles and hard battles, Time finds himself trapped repeating the same battle over and over again. He has no choice, if he wants to save his brothers. However every time he uses his ocarina to reverse fate, he finds the price of saving his lost companion is the life of another.
A Mortifying Change of Plans (or Twilight’s Worst Nightmare: A Party)- Summary: Twilight was perfectly comfortable with his idea of how the evening would go: he could just stand there in a corner, watching the princess and his brothers from afar. He wasn’t a huge fan of social events, but this was easy enough. He could do it. Just as long as no body changed his plan. He would be fine. He could do this…
Random Fics that don’t really connect to anything else:
Trapped- Summary: Legend and Warriors get stuck in a tight room in a dungeon and have to work together to get out of it
(You Aren’t) Selfish- Summary: Time’s fine. Really, he is. Because he has no other choice. With everything all the younger heroes around him are going through, one of them has to be okay enough to support the others, and it’s going to be him.
The Captain, The Sailor, and Some Oranges- Summary: Warriors takes Wind out scouting him because the little sailor found himself unable to sit still and he needed an outlet for his energy. It’s a good thing Wars wasn’t alone, his blood sugar dips too low and he didn’t bring himself any snacks
Slept In- Summary: Warriors was so tired, surely sleeping in and enjoying just laying in his bed would have absolutely no consequences? SURELY he could sleep in and nothing would happen because of it, just this once? Right? (or: Mask abuses being unsupervised)
Faded Sun- Summary: Nightmares weren’t an uncommon occurrence in the life of a hero. However, Time didn’t anticipate how rattled he would be after being forced to face the reality of how badly war had impacted someone he cares so much about. (or: Time, with his adult eyes and current understanding of life, sees Warriors from the end of the War of Eras and is able to for the first time really see just how different he was and just how far he’s come in the past few years)
(The) Trouble with Words- Summary: Mask once again finds himself in a position where his actions might have severe consequences for Captain Link, and he feels incredibly guilty for the trouble he causes his brother. However… in his defense… the guy deserved it.
Apples or Oranges- Summary: Staying in Hateno was meant to be a break for them: a chance to shop and explore the village, a chance to catch up on much needed sleep, a chance to spend time with a brother. But of course Warriors simply cannot catch a break, and this time it’s all Time’s fault, the little shit. Well… and the fault of a seemingly innocent apple tree.
Close Call- Summary: The life of a hero is a dangerous one, and when facing danger every day, it’s easy to forget how fast things can go wrong. After almost losing Warriors, Time has to really take a minute to assure himself the captain is okay
Fireworks- Summary: Warriors doesn’t like fireworks very much at all
A Quiet Night- Summary: Warriors tries his best not to let the chain see how badly the war and everything that happened still effects them, and his plan of sneaking off to cry in the woods had been working pretty well for a decently long time. But Legend hears him while up on watch, and he’s not just going to leave Warriors to cry alone
A Helping Paw- Summary: Warriors has been acting weird ever since Twilight was injured, and Twilight is going to do anything he can to try to get his brother to loosen up, even if he accidentally hurts himself in the process
Pirates and Ice Cream- Summary: Twilight is having a miserable awful time in his senior year of high school, he just has to make it through the end so he can join his brother at college. Although it appears Warriors isn’t having the best time either
Scary Dog Privilege- Summary: After a long day, Twilight and Warriors sneak out to the tavern, and when two strangers don't seem to get the hint and leave Warriors alone, making the captain visibly uncomfortable, Twilight steps in to put them in their place
Flour and Flowers- Summary: It wasn’t often the group got a break from everything. At the ranch, Time takes an opportunity to show his wife and the boys how much he loves them all by doing something nice for them and cooking them breakfast by himself. Or at least he PLANNED to do it by himself
Boy’s Night- Summary: After a really long day, Sky kicks out Twilight, Warriors, and Time because they won’t stop hovering, and forces them to take a break. They find themselves in a bar, and Warriors simply CANNOT believe how oblivious Time is to what goes on around him. or Time cannot for the life of him read when people are hitting on him because it simply never occurred to him that was a thing that could happen, and Warriors has made it his personal duty to watch his brother’s back
2 a.m. Shenanigans- Summary: Twilight had been resting all day and he was starting to get bored. Problem is, Wild is dead asleep on top of him and he can’t move. Warriors and Sky rescue him from where he’s stuck, and the three of them take time to relax and unwind by running around outside in the dead of night
Star Light, Star Bright, First Star I See Tonight- Summary: He hadn’t realized the other heroes were slowly becoming family… He hadn’t realized when he’d started to view them as brothers. or: Warriors got bored on watch and the Thought Spiral caught up to him, and he started thinking about his family, and he comes to the realization the heroes around him have started to make him feel safe again
if a single one of these links doesn’t work or if there’s one single mistake in here somewhere i WILL explode-

Screaming Into the Void:
My Thoughts and Theories About the Past, the Present, and the Future
(Of Chasers, of course)
Here's the text version of the document I had made eariler this week <3
It’s mainly unfiltered ramblings that I plan on editing later (and adding visual references)
Spoilers for the finale below
Breaking Down the Season 1 Finale:
Chase
He had clearly grown so much over the course of the season and honestly this entire arch has been such a great arch of seeing who he is now
The guilt he has for bringing in Pru and Deacon into the story and feeling responsible for their deaths
A part of me fears of how he’ll take it when more people join the story, but he has gained a sense of responsibility
Also that face he make WITH THE LITTLE HEART EYES AHHHHHH
Deacon & Prunella
There isn’t much to say about these two if were just talking the finale as neither of them are alive for long enough
I do wonder what their paper death means for how they proceed going forward
There’s no doubt that all three of them would add some precaution in future stories, especially if the team expands
Buddy
HE’S A KEY!!!!!! THE THEORIST WERE RIGHT?!?!??!?!?!
Add this alongside [insert massive Miraculous s5 spoiler]
Nox - presumably IroN OXide (peep jthealien for pointing this out in the comments)
He has a moon on his back, in the same spot as Goldie’s sun and Bronze’s Apple - its his character symbol
Moon opposing the sun as a symbol (plus the book, will continue that later down) - he’s likely the Villain key
Something clearly happened in his past that makes he regrets - could be what led him to ex-libris or why he’s specifically the villain key….
This makes the comment “he looks 20-ish,” the “dreams are often not what they seem” note at the end of Dreams by Night, and the “do they not feed you?” debacle during the beach boys arc more understandable
Re: Dreams By Night - I revisited the episode to find the quote and noticed that Nox (this feels weird typing that) has a metal ring around his neck, maybe mimicking a keychain???
More key related thoughts:
“Don’t you want to be human again” - does this mean that the keys were all human, or is Buddy (and maybe some others) were originally human and then turned into keys
If this were to be the case, you would assume Silver (or Bronze/Goldie) would have brought it up, but
1. We know their memory is foggy
2. Silver has failed to mentioned big factors to Chase before (e.g. Chase needing all the keys to make his wish; she lowkey gives “you didn’t ask” energy and she’s so real for that)
Also, note that she say “Don’t you want to….” and not “Don’t you want us to”
Design wise, Buddy differentiates from the keys we’ve seen so far in that he’s not solely one color, his hair and clothing appear to be much darker than his skin
He appears to be established as an outlier from the the rest of the keys we know - suggesting there’s something different about him. My guess is that he’s not the original villain key, but rather a replacement of sorts
We’ve seen damaged keys before, peep Silver at the start of the comic, but is there a point to which a key can no longer be repaired by narratonin? Could this be how and why Nox (and Ex Libris) know about the outcome of specific scenarios (e.g. when a book gets damaged)
Now that we’ve gotten a full look at Violet’s key, I wanted to point out how Silver is the the only key (out of what we’ve seen) to have a different Shank, with hers being twisted and everyone else’s being straight
Edit: When Chase first finds Silver, the paper does depict Violet as having a different shank, so this may not be as important as I once thought.
The Book:
The front of the Book displays the symbols of the keys in a circular manner - with (presumably) oppositional characters placed across from one another.
 The pairs are:
Sun & Moon (12 & 6 positions): Goldie (Hero) & Nox (TBD)
Since they are symbolic opposites, Nox is expected to be the villain key (+ some of his dialogue throughout the season hinting towards this)
Bell & Bow (1 & 7): TBD
The Bow maybe the Thief key mentioned by Deacon in Episode 42 (Reasoning: Robin Hood, notable thief used a bow and arrow)
Crown & Feather (2 & 8): TBD
The Crown is plausibly the Ruler key mentioned by Deacon in Episode 42
Diamond & Rose (assuming) (3 & 9): Violet (Villainess) & Silver (Heroine)
The 9 o’clock position is covered in both panels, and thus I’m working on the assumption that the rose is there
The only other position for the rose would be the mark at the 4 o’clock position
Unidentifiable & Apple (4 & 10): TBD & Bronze (Sidekick)
As mentioned before, I could not determine what the symbol after Violet was, if it’s Silver’s rose, then the pattern breaks
Following the pattern, the symbol probably belongs to a henchmen archetype (FREDDY BELIEVERS RISE)
Heart & Star (5 & 11): TBD
The Heart is plausibly the Lover key mentioned by Deacon in Episode 42
The Key in the middle!!
We can think its different than the rest of the keys as we see Violet locked into the book (the 9 o’clock position, where the rose should be)
This is what I assume to be the primary factor that allowed Buddy to go into the same exact stories as Chase, sort of acting as a master key allowed to unlock anything
Since Violet is stuck into the slot of the Rose, the book sends the user into whatever story the Heroine key is in
Side note: This circle pattern would make a very sick looking clock, and that will be my objective goal if we get a closer look at the book (or symbols)
Stargoth
So, um, the kiss…
It has not registered in my mind
The lore of the keys have taken up most of my mind 😭
The sky tear -> there’s an emphasis on the true love’s kiss!!! What if Nox and Chase are meant to each other's true love (at least in the storybooks)?
Alt. there may be something to do with true love and they keys (maybe breaking the spell/curse, or something)
Outside of that, I just love how we get to see a reversal of the requiem hug as they start to show how much they care for each other!!!!!!
Final thoughts
This finale was honestly so shocking to me in the best way possible and it makes me really excited for what’s to come
It honestly feels a lot like the ending of Stagtown (in terms of lore drop and whatnot), and I don’t think I’ve been this hyped about a fandom (or finale) since SVTFOE season 2 finale bro
I’ll probably add more to this document when I’m more organized and when the episode comes out and we can discuss ☺️

as soon as i finished s2 of arcane i knew i wanted to hear your takes on it. any opinions as to how they handled caitlyn’s arc, vi’s story, and the development of s2? i would love to hear anything you have to say about this season!!
also - the end of this season has me scouring Ao3 for some fics to fill the void. have you had any recent one shot or fic ideas now that the show has ended? i’ve been dying for a hurt/comfort and really soft sex type of story for cait and vi. maybe something where cait is taking care of vi after the events of 206? lord knows they could both use the comfort and vi deserves to be loved and taken care of. i know you would write that beautifully.
or if you have any recs for fics along those lines? 👀
as always, thanks for your incredible work both inside and outside of fandoms! love hearing from you! <3
Omg hiii! I appreciate that you care what I think haha!
Let me preface this by saying that the criticisms I have for the writing of s2 does not take away the love I have for this show and what it's done for animation as a medium.
Now, with that said...
S2 was a mess.
I said this on twitter, but I think the writers had a lot of ambition — too much ambition — for the amount of episodes they had to wrap this story up cohesively. This AMAZING show suffered because of corporate greed and not having enough time to flesh out character arcs and plots from s1. I think it started off promising. I was really excited to see how they would handle the Zaun/Piltover conflict, Vi's journey toward healing and forgiving herself for her past mistakes, Jinx's descent and then return as a hero, as well as Caitlyn's descent and redemption arc.
Instead we got... that.
There's one word that keeps twirling around in my head: commitment.
The writers lacked commitment (and a diverse writing room) to properly handle the Piltover/Zaun conflict. S1 had such a good starting point, whereas in S2 it's like they diverged from the path and forgot the finish line existed. Sitting Sevika at a table with her oppressors who will most likely tune her out and outvote her on everything is NOT a solution. Why not a complete overhaul of the council? Make it an even split? Instead it's the same people who never gave a fuck in the first place, and Sevika, who helped get half of the population of Zaun hooked on shimmer in the first place. Like what???
They failed to commit to Caitlyn's villain/dictator era. When episode 3 happened, I was skeptical about how they would handle it. And after watching the entire season, I had every right to feel that way. They make her so unapologetic and blasé about gassing Zaunites and letting Ambessa unlawfully arrest people. That's not my Cait from season 1. Does grief change people? Absolutely! But once it settles, you should be able to look back on what you've done and feel remorseful. Cait's lack of remorse was jarring. Her inability to apologize or outwardly own up to everything she did was OOC. You know what could've been the perfect moment for that? When Jayce gathered Piltover and Zaun in that room and she was standing right across from them. Why not have Sevika or Scar call her ass out and hold her feet to the fire? Lay out the facts of what her grief looked like to the innocent people of Zaun who had nothing to do with it? That would've been the perfect time for her to say something.
They failed to commit to Jinx and her story as a whole. At its core, this show was centered around two sisters growing up impoverished and oppressed, constantly separated, but always finding their way back to each other. Jinx is such a heartbreaking character used for trauma porn. Episode 6 fucked me up so badly but I THOUGHT it would lead to something big for her character. Like her stepping into this unwilling hero role and working with Ekko to lead Zaun into a better future like the one Ekko saw in episode 7. BUT LOL NOPE. Instead she's suicidal and self harming while her sister is fucking the oppressor in a prison cell. DA FUCK?
And lastly they failed Vi's character in every possible way. From putting on the badge in the first place to not exploring the depth of her character. She's basically a passenger in s2. Has no agency. Used as a punching bag (literally). And treated as an afterthought. I'm so pissed. There should've been a lot of conflict in act 1 between her and Cait. You mean to tell me Vi, who HATES enforcers. would willingly let her situationship gas her people? Fuck no. Absolutely not. It does not make sense, narratively speaking. Her ending did not make me hopeful. Even if Jinx is alive and moving on from Vi to "break the cycle" that does nothing for Vi's character. She is without family once again, and I fear it would lead to an unhealthy codependent relationship with Cait. Like she'll never be able to voice opposing thoughts or feelings without fear of Cait leaving her AGAIN.
As for the Caitvi relationship. This is tough. On one hand, I was happy to see a lesbian s*x scene in animation for an awarded television show. But on a heavier hand, it rings hollow after everything I've said. Much like the Piltover/Zaun story, Caitvi had a good starting point in season 1. I did have my issues with it because, as a Black woman, seeing someone oppressed get with a cop does nothing for me. But I wanted to give them the benefit of the doubt because I believed the writers knew what they were doing. But I was wrong again. CaitVi is unfortunately one of the weakest points of S2. The writers did not COMMIT to their conflict. It's barely glossed over and then Caitlyn gets rewarded with s*x. And this is why I could never commit to them as a couple. At least not in canon. I liked them in s1 and the idea of what they could've been to each other in s2. And it looks like I'm going to have to find that elsewhere, unfortunately.
Overall, it all comes back to what I said in the beginning: lack of time, a diverse writing room, and corporate greed. I'm disappointed, but unfortunately not surprised. I hope the writers can learn from their mistakes moving forward.
As for fanfiction, I have actually not read any yet! So I don't have any recommendations for you. I need some for myself! I'll get back to you if I find any good ones.
Sorry for the lengthy post! I really just needed to get this all out and I feel so much better.

Bethany's Bizarre Miraculous Reviews Episode 6-1: Climatiqueen
WE ARE SO FUCKING BACK, BABY!!! LET'S GO! NEW ARTSTYLE! NEW TECHNOLOGY! MARINETTE IS FUCKED! LET'S HOPE SOME SHITTY RELATIONSHIPS BREAK UP SOONER RATHER THAN LATER!
Alright, since we're starting off with her, let's just get this out of the way: they fucked up Rose's hair. I'm fine with everything else about her, her clothes, her makeup, I can look her in the eyes, etc. Her hairstyle went from Miki Kaoru with an ahoge to Ellen Degeneres. That is a downgrade. And apparently a future episode is making Evangelion theory stronger than ever! Why are we abandoning Eva's lesbian sister at the same time!?
And Chloe. Although I don't think that's actually her, but what's the point of making her a strong prominent social media figure after her Swan Song? Wasn't the whole point that she was destroyed? Ruined? Given a punishment straight from one of Miraculous' most infamous salt fics? Why is she suddenly on top again? The peoples of Paris literally celebrated her downfall! Was this damage control after how horribly her swan song was received? I hate shitty damage control like this. Either commit wholeheartedly on your terrible actions or do a complete undo and give her an actual redemption arc.
Oh the afro though? Swag.
Plagg wants to tell him so badly. Do it! Better you than Lilamoth!
Oh hey. Juleka's pretty high on his contacts. I wonder what that's about.
Damn bitch, you live like this?
And we've finally made it to the new title. I like how they took the complaints that people know Marinette's secret by giving her a new, absolutely horrendous secret.
Candace behavior
Depression
Adrien's complimenting dad's shitty-ass pancakes. This is what Marinette has wrought with her misinformation.
Tell it how it is, Nathalie.
With freedom comes depression. With schedules comes anxiety.
You know what? Based Gorilla.
Gina lore!
Like how Adrien is a passion for you, Marinette?
Is that Lila?
Surprise trashcan!
Man, Algae's cooking, not to mention akumatization prevention superstition!
On the subject of Algae, it irks me that they can design such a good goth/emo(?) character but janked up Juleka's hair. The undercut doesn't fit her. She's not that punk. She's mostly goth. Goth is about being weird and creepy while punk is about societal revolution. Mylene's more punk than Juleka. Give Mylene the undercut. If you want to show both of Juleka's eyes, give her the hairpin from Reflekdoll! I'm okay with everything else though, for the most part.
Wait, no. Manipulative behavior. I can see why people think she's Lila.
This is reminding me of the one fic by Buggachat. More specifically the scene where Adrien tries out all sorts of new things and immediately ditches them because he's not perfect on the first try. That was good.
Spreading misinformation
Adrien sounds so depressed. Holy hell.
Damn, Lilamoth is surreal and sinister.
And the transformation is so nasty-looking too!
I will say though, they fixed Ondine. She looks so good and has clothes that aren't a swimsuit!
The design is a major glow-up, plus the powers are one of the funniest applications of mind control I've seen!
Big fan of platonic Ladynoir banter
The train lmao
Such a polite villain!
Also I have to say, I love the noises Climatiqueen's powers make. Good noises.
Damn, Markov's been shrunk. Reduced.
Ah, new summoning animation. Was the whole summoning thing based off of the Alliance Rings?
Also Pegasus now has infinite portals? Isn't this supposed to be episode 1? I can understand if you're doing an in medias res thing like in season 1 but didn't everyone gain infinite powers in episode 11 from what I've heard?
That Cataclysm animation was so peak! The animation is great now!
A-Aurora Borealis!?
Oh hey! Double Rainbow! I remember that meme!
So are those, like, the other heroes?
And now "why are you running!?" A lot of coincidental meme references?
And there she is. The girl. Adrien's finding passion.
Alright, first episode. I'm guessing they're waiting until later for the introduction like in season 1? Also Adrien seems codependent on Marinette. That ain't healthy. Doesn't he have other friends? I guess he's befriending Sublime,
As for the two new gimmicks for these reviews, the Axes of Funk and the Bingo Chart, nothing of importance really happened, so all I have is the free space:
Tumblr media
Meanwhile for the axes of funk Climatiqueen was drippy as hell and although the social media thing didn't really fit into the weather theming, it was at least funky. Definite top right.

It’s Eri! Great job!
”First we met over two and under twenty” Eri met Deku and Lemillion when Eri was 6 (under 2) and Deku/Lemillion were around 16-18 years between the two of them (under 20)
”Despair and sadness they had plenty”
unfortunately i don’t think i need to explain this one much. fuck Overhaul🖕
”Met a wielder, fate did switch”
met Deku, the wielder of One for All, which switched Eri’s fate from a life of torture and abuse to a future where she was happy
“Brainwaves had a minor glitch”
trauma caused Eri to run from Deku/Lemillion after their first meeting.
”Much later yet sooner than before”
a lot of time passed between Eri being found and her rescue, but less time then it had taken to find her in the first place.
“Loved by all yet no encore”
Eri unfortunately doesn’t appear as often after her rescue despite being a favorite of the students. Her next biggest moments were saving Deku and helping Lemillion get his quirk back, but she’s not really shown much.
“Not a villain, used for evil”
Eri’s quirk was used to make bullets that erase quirks for the Shie Hassaikai.
”Reasons caused a great upheaval”
the reason for evil was what caused the big rescue arc in the series, sending everyone (heroes, villains, Hassaikai, etc.) into an upheaval.
this was fun! want to try another?
Ooo noice!
The "Loved by all yet no encore" gave the impression that something happened to the character to make them not appear again
Credit to @chaotic-trash-cryptid for the guess
And sure, you may present another mha character riddle for me to try and crack

Cobra Kai Season 6 - A bunch of Little Things
So Eps 11-15 are... good, minus the wedding which was stupid, but the kind of stupid that's okay. It's not really a... problem so much as a sign the writer's room was all dudes. It's bad, don't get me wrong, but it isn't... narratively bad. Just a kind of tacky feeling.
The rest of that five ep block is very solid conclusions to every story, that are good enough to pass as a happily ever after. The overall main narrative flows and the path of events is followable and workable.
Eps 1-10 are another matter. There's a lot of stuff wrong there that doesn't work, it detracts from where we're going, and generally hurts the overall season. Time to go through a bunch of them.
Spoilers, etc, you know the vibes.
Kreese's Redemption
So they set up Kreese was realizing maybe he was wrong with Johnny back in Season 4, during the All Valley. Where he choose to back Tory's plan over pushing for Silver's cheating. It's a small moment, but a noticeable shift in the character. And, with the right plot beats over Eps 1-10 would make his realization in Ep 11 work very well (it works, but it feels unearned).
Kreese needs to feel shady without actively being shady. Which you can do by having him back both his students differently. He backs Tory's desire to win on her own skills and merits, and back Kwon being a little shithead to everyone off the ring to mess with them in the ring. He's not actively antagonizing Daniel or Johnny, but he's not- undermining their assessments of him either. Keep his general motives vague, and his specific goal (to win the sekai taikai) on point.
Now to keep the Silver reveal surprising, of course, there's still a guy with a cobra tattoo messing with Daniel, and Daniel distrusts Kreese because Daniel's never met a grudge he couldn't nurse for 50 years. But Kreese isn't egging it on, he just exists and Daniel's a little shit about it.
It'll smooth the path between Season 4's finale to S6 E11 out to be a more gradual path of Kreese learning he made mistakes.
Tory's Relationships
I'm not going to try to fix Robby and Tory's relationship (that's a lot more work I can't do here), but they can buttress it by putting more focus on Tory's other relationships in the first five episodes. Showing more of her and Amanda, or her and Devon.
This is not just because Devon needed a better plot, she is a pretty solid shadow to Tory as a character and easy to work into this.
Showing other characters caring about, and noticing, when Tory is off, and checking in on her. Which will help sell her big speech at the end of the series. Also showing them advocating for her while she's not there. (The difference between Johnny blaming Daniel for messing up with Tory, and Amanda doing the same thing? Huge.)
During 6-10 you can have Sam and Devon put a little more time into checking in on Tory. If you wanna get spicy you can give a scene to Miguel or Johnny. The lack of Johnny and Tory comparing notes on Kreese is honestly criminal.
Hawk - Past, Present, and Future
So Hawk's whole 'I don't know if I want to go to MIT because I'm not who I was a few years ago' is good. It's a shame it got tossed aside so Demetri could be a victim in all thi- wait, no, that's next section.
This section is that they could have spent more time focusing on who Eli is now, vs. who he started, and who he was in Cobra Kai. This probably would be best served by giving him time with Kwon. Kwon attempting to mess with Hawk, and Hawk just- no selling the whole affair. "You think that shit is going to work on me? I've been you. You're going to wake up one day with nobody having your back, alone with all that anger you have and for what? I have better things to do than waste time on you."
There's no real capstone on Eli's arc over the series, and they could have put one into 6-10 to really seal the deal that Hawk (the bully) is gone, and Hawk (the hero) is here to stay.
Free Space - Demetri whining
So I've done a whole thing about Demetri here, and I am always ready to complain how badly this character is handled. Still, Eps 1-5 put a lot of effort into his 'mad Hawk has decided to explore other colleges than the one he promised to go to when he was like six' plot that, all told, did barely anything for Hawk and nothing for Demetri.
Also, just, my read? 'They agreed' was 'Demetri insisted' and Eli, being absolutely terrified of being alone with all the bullies, agreed to anything Demetri said because that was their pre-canon relationship.
The easy answer is don't do this plot. At all. Honestly the easy answer is don't have Demetri be part of the team going to the Sekai Taikai. He doesn't like Karate, every part of him in 1-10 is generally worthless and also tacky and they don't really build off of it.
If you have to, give him any motivation to compete that isn't 'fucking over his friend Eli' or 'fucking Yasmin.'
Any. Motivation.
Ghost of Miyagi Past (AKA Free Space - Daniel whining)
So the whole 'mystery of Miyagi' thing didn't do anything. It could have done something though, and I'll talk about that first. So the big problem with Daniel this series has been refusing to see change unless it matches his perfect view of karate. This is his general big character weakness the show refuses to scrutinize and there is a way to work this.
If Miyagi did a crime thing in the past, because at one point he was hot headed arrogant, mad at the world due to systemic issues that are preventing him from being happy, and he moved past that to a state of peace and contentment... it could teach Daniel to cultivate that sort of change In Johnny instead of the 'Johnny will never change he'll always be my high school bully' thing Daniel had going on.
Because the biggest threat to Daniel and Johnny working together has always been Daniel being like this!
Now, doing this doesn't fix the deepfake'd Miyagi face they did (which is tacky and bad). Or the... white person absolving a nonwhite person of his crimes done during a time where being visibly Asian was the crime. But it'd at least be a Daniel character growth moment and I'd take that.
Devon Taking her Chance
I don't, for the record, hate the Devon drugging Kenny plot, innately. I do think it needs to be better set-up to make it work. I think the best answer would be that she did it based off of something Johnny said to her she interpreted in the cruelest way possible. Something along the lines of 'life doesn't give you opportunities, there are the ones you take for yourself. If that asshole isn't going to notice you, make him notice you. Make sure he can't help but see you.'
And then realizing that doing that sucked and she hates what it meant and maybe she shouldn't be there.
Alternatively you can, hypothetically, cut Demetri from the squad in the tournament, give Kenny his spot, and give Devon a better plot. Devon's insecurity as being the newest to Karate, also letting her act as Johnny's proxy in any argument among the kids, would work really well.
Robby get your Head in the Game
Robby has two problems, not counting the SA shaped problem I talked about here. I don't need to talk about the Zara thing anymore so this post is safe on that.
The message that 'Robby already won he has a real family now' needed more groundwork in 1-5. Instead of focusing on him and Tory (for the... two scenes they got), give him moments of Carmen, Carmen's mom, Miguel, and the LaRusso's geniunely being there for him. And especially Johnny. Show Johnny giving Robby 1 on 1 training in 6-10. Things to make it clear he has a family.
The other problem is that in 6-10 while he's spiraling over Tory, it'd help if he got some support from anyone. Prior to Miguel standing up for him at the end. Sam is probably the right call for this, alternatively having Kenny there from the start (in place of you know who) means that Kenny can advocate for Robby (sowing the dissention needed for them to suck that early in the tournament).
Miguel and the-
Okay, listen, the whole 'fly home to fly back' thing? That? Don't do that. Just- no. That was not needed. Do anything else.
Sam's Drive to Win
Once Tory leaves, centering Sam's whole arc on what her desires for the future are seems good, so that when she forfeits in the semi-finals it has a narrative backing. That she's not enjoying proving herself in the tournament, and that she's stopped having fun now that everyone is bickering with each other.
That her drive to win was more tied to the situation than anything else. And that the only time she really enjoys Karate is with her dad, her boyfriend, and her future wife rival. Anything outside of that just... no longer fuels her.
I get one SamTory joke, I am showing restraint.
So she's still motivated in the tournament (to make her dad look good, to protect her boyfriend in matches, and to get her last round with Tory) but she is so over all the petty drama Kwon and Zara are trying to stir up.

Yk something that I would really enjoy if Yana did in twisted wonderland? Make evil/awful characters be RSA students instead of NRC students. It would make sense considering rook, silver, Kalim, and kinda ortho? Are kind people with quirky personality that don’t really fit into the campus at all. Plus, I feel like a perfect school with no issues is too bland and too much of a dream come true. Yana never came off as the type to toss potential for a good thriller. Anyways, My vote for secretly fucked up RSA student?
It 100% has to be lotso hugging bear from Toy Story 3, he fits perfectly into being an awesome handsome swell class representative that everyone adores and respect, to outsiders though? There is something off about how he runs the classes and newcomers… 😭 ahh, there is so much I can go off but don’t wanna make this too long.
Obviously we have Hans from frozen, hector from Coco, Robert Callaghan from big hero 6, there’s prob a few more I skipped but those are the few I can think that can fit into RSA. Respectful young men with potential futures ahead of them, goody two shoes that don’t defy the law… at least what our NRC boys think. Just a simple idea though, I don’t think it will ever happen so a poor person can only dream 🙃
Tumblr media
TWST!Lotso perpetually smells like strawberries/j
You never know, it might! Yana did say that she wanted to continue the main story of Twisted Wonderland following what I will call the “first arc” (which encompasses all 7 OB boys and Grim). There’s also future Halloween events to consider (Yana has already indicated that’s she’s very excited for the next one)!
We don’t know exactly what that “next” main story might entail, but a lot of fans theorize it will involve increased exposure to or interactions with RSA. If that’s the case, it would be very boring if the RSA students all turn out to be perfect and problem-free. I’m sure some trouble would eventually arise.
The “twist” villains of Disney seem like perfect candidates to be the “black sheep” in a school supposedly full of good-natured souls. It would also give TWST an opportunity to actually… fix??? Make up for??? Some of their poor implementation in the actual films (which is a point they’ve been criticized for, since most recent Disney movies have either had bad twist villains or no “real” villain at all). In my opinion, Hans is a particularly poorly written one—
If we want to get super modern, I think even King Magnifico from Wish (I think it’s out to the general public now?) would count as a twist villain. (Even if the advertisements all make it clear he’s the bad guy, within his own universe he is still considered a good guy!) Although… looking back at the twisted characters we’ve seen so far, all of them essentially come from older, more “classic” Disney films, so maybe the far shinier and more recent Disney villains won’t be “twisted” so soon?? 🤔 That’s just me speculating though!

2024 Game of the Year Countdown #6: The Legend of Heroes: Trails Through Daybreak Nintendo Switch, 2024
Big surprise, another Trails game! As we continue on this long Trails journey (2024 is the 20th anniversary of the long-running and continuous plot of the Trails universe), developer Nihon Falcom has continually adjusted to the evolving world of video games, and they have been successful in giving us fun JRPG experiences that feel familiar, but also bring something new to the table. Trails Through Daybreak, however, brings significantly more new things than any previous game.
Tumblr media
First of all, Falcom introduced their new game engine, which was developed in-house. It’s not significantly different from what they used in Reverie, but it definitely brings a little more fluidity to movements and subtlety to the experience in a graphical sense. I gather that there must have been at least some level of difficulty that Falcom had when working with the past engine, as Reverie saw notable slowdown in areas with lots of activity, and few areas were very large. Daybreak, however, has a few downright massive areas that blew me away when I first started exploring. This new, in-house engine must have been a joy to work with for the developers because it seems like nothing was lost when it comes to how the game plays and runs.
Tumblr media
Falcom also did a complete overhaul of the combat system and…it’s not my favorite. I got used to it, but I prefer the older style. Is it still turn based? Yes. Movement during turn-based combat is enhanced (as you couldn’t previously both move AND act unless you were attacking), and the game essentially forces you to engage with the action-rpg gameplay before initiating a regular, turn-based battle. The action gameplay is average at best, but I felt like it was mainly just button mashing for a few seconds until the enemy is stunned, which we could do with one well placed hit in previous games. It’s also kind of difficult to parse the turn order since they made a really weird display where icons slide toward the center. This kind of sucks because it’s not immediately apparent who is next, and I feel like the developers knew this since they added a separate button that numbers the icons. Why not just give us a single line like we’ve had since 2004?
I’m a bit disappointed that this looks like the future for the series, since combat is so integral to the entire experience of a Trails game, but I do at least like that we can toggle the difficulty of the field battles separately from the regular combat. I turned the field battle difficulty down, since it was more of a slog, while keeping the regular combat on Hard. Like I said, I got used to the new style of the regular fights, but I just don’t prefer this field combat at all.
The fact that Trails is such a long-running series means that we are bound to have numerous returning characters in every game, and fans of the series love this aspect. It’s actually one of my favorite things about the franchise, so I was thrilled to see who was coming back and what sort of impact they’d have on the story. However, this aspect has also made it increasingly difficult for new fans to get into the series, and Daybreak does not exactly do anything to change this. While first introductions can seem surface level enough for new fans to not feel left out, it doesn’t take long for that feeling to go away. I can’t see how a new fan would be able to jump in and enjoy the game without peppering friends and forums for info about why Zin and Walter know each other, what all these past events in Erebonia and Crossbell were, and why Renne knows EVERYONE. I’m disappointed that they keep marketing these games as “great starting points” when they are very clearly only “the first game in a new arc of the ongoing story.” I know that we’re 11 games in now, but Falcom needs to keep that in mind when writing these stories if they want fans to be able to jump in late.
The new cast of characters didn’t immediately endear themselves to me, if I’m honest. Van feels kind of like Rean, since he’s a softy, but now he’s got a bit of sass. Agnes is not too different from Elie in the Crossbell arc. Feri feels like a slightly more focused CS1 Fie. I don’t find much interesting or redeeming about Aaron at all. Perhaps we’ve gotten to the point where there are just so many characters in the Trails universe that all the tropes have been used already and we’re bound to see recycled versions, Idk. I am significantly more interested in returning characters than any of the new ones.
Tumblr media
Except for Judith Lanster, who has stolen my heart.
Tumblr media
She’s cute, capable, and her voice actress absolutely crushed it. Her and Walter’s VA, who is actually the original VA from Trails in the Sky SC on PSP, were standouts in this game.
Renne and Rixia are two fan favorite characters who return for Daybreak, but for being in the opening sequence, Rixia shows up all of one time in the first 75 hours of the game. And she was literally only hired muscle. Renne, on the other hand, shows up constantly, which I was pretty excited about. She’s my all time #2 favorite character, so I will always love to see her. However, like many others, I do kind of question her inclusion. It’s great to see her doing new things and generally enjoying herself, but I’m slightly annoyed that they decided to retroactively connect her to Van and give him a not-insignificant amount of credit for helping her between the stories of Sky the 3rd and Zero. In a way, this lessens the impact that Estelle, Joshua, and Tita had on her when she turned away from the Society. Perhaps not, and I’m just salty because my other two favorite characters have some thunder stolen from them both off-screen and retroactively. Idk.
Tumblr media
I’ve seen a few people claiming that having Renne around at all is weird because her story is done, which I disagree with wholeheartedly. If anything, having her around shows how far she’s come and how much she’s overcome. She hasn’t been broken by her past, stands strong in her new convictions, and she is thriving while making her own decisions. This is the sort of character other series would kill to have!
I would say, however, that the storytelling of Daybreak falters a bit when compared with past entries in the series. While we do, finally, have the inclusion of numerous actual deaths in the story, something fans have complained about for years since it definitely destroys any real tension or stakes when we already know no one is ever going to die, only one of the deaths even kind of impacts us as players or the team at large. A few deaths end up being important to team members, but it’s usually just the newest one, and since we’ve only just met them, we have yet to really understand them or empathize with their situation. Other deaths end up being completely inconsequential, and none happen directly to team members. A few times, I found myself saying, out loud, “Who cares?”
The thing that Trails in the Sky FC and Trails of Cold Steel 1 did well was use the entire first game to build a strong party and make them all important to us. When the grand finale came around, or sequel games for that matter, we were all invested and knew each character intimately. The big personal stories and emotional scenes actually hit us hard and we cared about them. Daybreak introduces characters and either tries to make us care about them too quickly, or completely forgoes any development for too long, which leads to many of the characters’ reactions feeling overblown or out of place. Yes, by the end of the game, it does feel like we truly have a tight-knit crew, and I hope that pays off in subsequent games, but it was a bit of a bumpy road to get there when compared with previous entries.
Tumblr media
The game also keeps a lot from us and asks us to just accept it. Van turns into a black demon with big hair in the gosh darn PROLOGUE, and no one ever really questions it when it comes back at the finale of each chapter. At least Rean’s classmates were concerned when he kept activating Ogre Mode in Cold Steel. Everyone in Daybreak just kinda blinks and says “Well that was weird, but you kicked some ass, Van!” I guess the supernatural has graduated from being extraordinary to just a regular Tuesday in the Trails-verse.
Falcom is well known for consistently good video game music, and while Daybreak is adequate, I didn’t come across too many highlights. I can’t honestly name more than a few tracks that I’d go out of my way to listen to or add to playlists. The direction is also a bit off, with many tracks being replayed over and over again for scenes that call for different emotions. It was strange because I didn’t find many of the songs particularly versatile in that regard. This is a good soundtrack to play in the background while you’re doing other things, however.
The two tracks that really stood out to me were Diabolic Howl and Resonance of Ray. I generally like to listen to a soundtrack when I start playing a game, so I’ve heard all the tracks by the time I come across them in-game. Diabolic Howl very clearly brings back the melody of Fateful Confrontation, a Trails in the Sky battle track for when you fight Enforcers of Ouroboros. However, this track doesn’t play when you fight an Enforcer, so I’m left confused at the inclusion of the musical motif. And Resonance of Ray is honestly a fantastic tune, I just wonder why they chose it for the final dungeon and not the final battle, as I think it builds very nicely as a battle track.
I know it sounds like I’m really ripping into this game, but I had a good time playing it. I did put 120 hours into it and it was essentially the only game I played for half of the summer. The ending did a great job of showing that the cast had grown close and meant a lot to each other, which was really satisfying. And I was thrilled to finally see Calvard, as well as the numerous returning characters. I hope that Daybreak 2 builds upon what they’ve established in this game.
However, if you’ve never played a Trails game and are interested in starting the series, I have to recommend trying Trails in the Sky or Trails of Cold Steel instead.

been putting this off for a while, but i'm up to a kira/odo episode and i wouldn't feel right posting this after watching it, so i'm just gonna talk about how bothered i am by their relationship in series 6 so far
so, odo sold out the alpha quadrant, basically because he was lonely and kinda horny. that's not ill-fitting with his characterisation tbh, his isolation's been a big part of his arc (and so has immaturity at times tbh). sure, he changed his mind and helped out in the end, but he's responsible for a helluva lot of carnage
more specifically, he sold out kira. and i love kira, but forgiving she is not. in wrongs darker than death or night she was willing to kill her own mother for collaborating! and her mother wasn't actively (or inactively) fucking her and her people over! i remember her face at the end of things past, when she found out odo had collaborated
what i did notice was that a few episodes later (i think in you are cordially invited?) dax didn't seem to know why kira and odo weren't speaking. so... do starfleet in general not know what odo did? that i can see. i can see kira being conflicted, keeping it to herself (quark and jake, maybe not but let's look past that), because she is fiercely loyal
but what she also is is black-and-white to a fault. you're either a hero or the enemy. look, i've been spoiled, i know odo and kira are getting together at some point, and frankly i don't like that at all at the moment. odo fucked her and every one she cares about over; sure, he changed his mind, but is that enough? in the time it took him to reconsider there was open warfare. and more importantly, if he hadn't sold her out, ziyal would never have had to rescue her, and she wouldn't have been killed. odo's effectively responsible for the death of kira's surrogate daughter
(and by the way, don't think i didn't notice that we saw dukat's reaction to her death, we even saw her gay bestie garak react! and we didn't see kira, essentially her foster mother, the person closest to her, who shared the most screentime with her, respond to ziyal's death. now that is fridging of an outstanding proportion, and ds9 is usually better than that)
but yes, with that, plus kira obviously blaming present odo for future!odo wiping out the defiant's descendants solely to save her life at the end of s5, well. maybe i understand her not trying to kill him, but a relationship? fuck no. they've had about five scenes together total since you are cordially invited; i don't think the show has put anywhere near enough work into repairing that relationship. and it's a shame, bc ds9 is normally so good with making its characters do the hard work
