YAY FOR BRENDAN!
Brendan Fraser may finally be an Oscar-winning Lead Actor now (and SO WELL DESERVED; I have never been happier to see someone win that award in my life), but to those of us who have watched and loved him since the 90s, he will always be that gorgeous, loveable, goofy stud who gave us gems such as:
Bill from Mrs. Winterbourne (1996)
Tumblr media
George from George of the Jungle (1997)
Tumblr media
Adam Webber from Blast from the Past (1999)
Tumblr media
Rick O'Connell from The Mummy (1999)
Tumblr media
These are just some personal favorites that I 100% recommend! Brendan has had an amazing career with many more projects worth seeing!

I'm rewatching Mrs. Winterbourne again and I just noticed this. But the man who gives Connie the directions to the shelter that ends up getting her on the train to Boston instead, just suddenly disappears while she's looking at the paper, almost ghost-like. Do you think there's supposed to be some insinuation that Mr. Winterbourne, Hugh and Bill's late father, is doing ghostly shenanigans to get Bill a wife?
Could it just be for the drama? To avoid an awkward end to the conversation? Sure. But could it be more?

That was a good week! :)

💙 You Know I Live for the Hustle by Bittersweet_in_Boston (Modern AU, Flight Attendant Bucky, CEO Steve | 3,5K | Explicit): He’s coming back down the aisle a few minutes later, calling over his shoulder to Nat, when he turns his head just in time to avoid bumping into 3C, who’s standing there, looking at Bucky intensely but maybe also a little uncertainly. Bucky stops and looks up into 3C’s face. He has to physically restrain himself from swallowing hard, because 3C is a Specimen of the Highest Order. Tall, a few inches taller than Bucky’s six feet, dressed in head-to-toe Tom Ford business casual with dark blond hair sweeping across his forehead and curling at his very expensive shirt collar, piercing blue eyes, full lips, and a neatly trimmed, well-cared-for beard.Further investigation reveals glints of silver in both hair and beard, and now Bucky really needs to go lie down. Instead, he raises his eyebrows as if to say, Well? (Part 1 of Live for the Hustle)
💙 Get a Little More Close to Me by Bittersweet_in_Boston (Modern AU, Flight Attendant Bucky, CEO Steve | 13K | Explicit): “Bucky. I’m so glad you decided to join me.” Steve stands up at his primo table in the middle of the Water Library’s main dining room to greet Bucky. He looks even better than he did on the flight, in a lightweight silk-wool suit in royal blue and a crisp bright white button up with the top three buttons open. Bucky very purposely doesn’t peek to see if any chest hair is showing because he’s having enough trouble holding it together as it is. (Part 2 of Live for the Hustle)
💙 There’s a place I want to take you, where the unknown will surround you by Bittersweet_in_Boston (Regency AU | 8K | Explicit): …in which James Barnes of Winterbourn in Derbyshire meets Steven Rogers, a retired army commander and the new master of neighboring Topsfield Hall, and they develop an unlikely and all-consuming…friendship. (Part 1 of The RegencyVerse)
💙 And in between it’s never as it seems by Bittersweet_in_Boston (Regency AU | 12K | Explicit): …in which James Barnes of Winterbourn in Derbyshire and retired Army commander Steven Rogers take their friendship to the next level, but must contend with much more than societal disapproval to be together. (Part 2 of The RegencyVerse)
💙 September 1, 1969 by BeaArthurPendragon (1970′s AU, Vietnam Vets Bucky&Steve | 7K | Explicit): Last year, Buck Barnes came home from Vietnam with a bad back and a prosthetic arm named Roz--and with nothing left to lose, he let the GI Bill take him to college as far away from his closeted life in Indiana as possible: New York City. When a gorgeous blond square looking lost as a lamb walks into the gay bar where he works on the weekends, he’s only thinking about tonight. He never expected to find himself wishing for a tomorrow, too.Lots of feelings with some porn. (Part 1 of I'll Light Your Way Home)
💙 Sugar by BeaArthurPendragon/ @beaarthurpendragon (1970′s AU, Vietnam Vets Bucky&Steve | 2K | Explicit): It’s been two months since a couple of lost Vietnam vets found each other one night in a Hell’s Kitchen gay bar. One sleepy Sunday morning, they start to realize that what they have could become something more. (Part 2 of I'll Light Your Way Home)
💙 Polaris by Becassine/ @becassine (Canon | 9K | Teen): Sarah Rogers always said that they were written in the stars. Bucky thinks that perhaps she was right.
💙 Here and Where You Are by crinklefries/ @spacerenegades (Time Travel | 29K | Mature): In his first life, Bucky Barnes never gets his happy ending. This changes everything, so he has to try, and try again.
Bucky's Club by buckybarnesdeservestobehappy (hutchabelle) (Bucky & Alpine | < 1K | General): Bucky goes on a quest for the best sandwich in Brooklyn and shares it with Alpine.

"Nurses have been sacked for speaking out about trans patients on single-sex wards, Parliament has heard.
Speaking in the House of Lords, Baroness Nicholson of Winterbourne, a Tory peer, warned that the dignity, privacy and safety of patients is being “diminished significantly” by NHS policies which allows male-born patients who self-identify as women to be placed on female-only wards.
Arguing for people to be allocated a bed based on their birth sex, she said that the controversial issue is now impacted on the ability of nurses to do their job.
One nurse said that her Trust’s policy makes it “impossible” because “she is obliged to advocate out for the vulnerable, but trans rights supersede all other rights and concerns”.
Medics are “inhibited” from speaking out for fear of being branded “bigots” or being sacked, Lady Nicholson told the upper chamber.
“I have met several nurses who have lost their jobs because of this”, she said. “A doctor says that he no longer feels able to make comments about sex and gender. He recently delivered a baby, he said it was a girl and he was accused of transphobia.”
She also highlighted the case of a 14-year-old girl who refused a cervical smear as her mother had requested a female nurse and the person who was due to carry it out was “very clearly a natal male”.
Lady Nicholson raised her concerns over the provision of single-sex wards as the House of Lords continued its detailed scrutiny of the Health and Care Bill.
The former Tory party vice-chair highlighted an NHS England policy which states that trans people should be accommodated “according to their presentation: the way they dress, and the name and pronouns they currently use”, rather than their biological sex at birth.
“Traditionally female patients in the NHS and in private hospitals have been allocated beds in single-sex wards accommodating only women patients,” she said.
“Transgenderism, and I speak as a woman, has undermined that provision with the 2019 NHS guidance authorising self-selection of patient gender on arrival in hospitals, something neither enshrined in law nor backed by public demand.
“Yet Parliament and our ministers have consistently declared that women both need and should have privacy, dignity and safety in their most vulnerable situations such as when sick or pregnant.”
Lady Nicholson argued that previous guarantees given to women had been “blown apart” by the provisions under Annex B, which contradict the guidance on providing same-sex wards of which it is a part.
“These two requirements are not only incompatible, they are irreconcilable,” she said.
She said that the policy “profoundly disadvantages women” across the whole of the NHS.
Her comments were backed by Liberal Democrat Lord Clement-Jones, who warned: “The goalposts have been moved and I don’t quite understand who was consulted about Annex B and where we go from here.
“How can one reconcile this gender-friendly Annex B with a single-sex ward pledge in the main guidance?
“At the very least there needs to be a review of what exactly is the regime that we want to support.”
He added: “I was particularly concerned to see that effectively if you classify yourself as non-binary you can take your choice as to whether you go in a ward of any particular sex.”
Responding, health minister Lord Kamall said NHS England was currently reviewing the single-sex accommodation guidance “to ensure that it remains focused on privacy, safety and dignity for all patients”.
It is expected that the review will be published later this year.
He said: “The NHS is committed to meeting its duties under the Equalities Act and as such needs to give due regard to both those whose gender identity is the same as their biological sex at birth as as well as those who are not.
“This means that the rights and needs of women and trans women are equal in law.”
But Lady Nicholson argued that “the rights of another group do not supersede the rights of the group that is already there”.
She added: “My contention is that the dignity, the privacy and the safety of women patients which has been fought over for several decades... is now being diminished significantly and their health undermined, their recovery from illness significantly undermined, by the imposition of new rights of others on top of women’s rights.
“It amuses me that nobody is suggesting they should be on top of men’s rights. This is a matter of great concern to all women.”
Her amendment to the bill calling for patients to be housed according to their birth sex was rejected."

Do I Owe Each Kiss 3
Pairing: 1900’s Chauffer Bucky Barnes x Socialite Reader (Female)
Warnings: None :)
Summary: You are a prominent socialite who belongs to a very powerful family in 1913 England. You have just come into your prime and your parents are looking for a suitable match for you and you agree to a hand in an arranged marriage. That is- until you meet the sexy, rugged, and outright charming new chauffeur.
The rumble of the motor car is a steady vibration underneath your legs. A welcome, even uncomfortable, distraction from the flitting of eyes in the rear view mirror. Every time your eyes met with Barnes’ lively icy blue ones, your heart nearly leapt into your throat.
His eyes reminded you of the family collection of sapphires hidden in the valueables closet- the one that Barton squirrels away safety, always polished and gleaming for pompous guests to look on.
“So, Her Ladyship has informed me you’re due in town for a new frock?” Barnes’ voice cut through the noisy background of the motor car, startling you into a dazed smile.
Sure, you needn’t look him in the eye but god help you as you tempted yourself to a stolen look at his Adonis remincesnt face. It was a while before your mouth could catch up to the rapid succession of thoughts being processed in your excited forefront in your mind.
“Oh yes. I’m more excited about being on my own rather than buying a new dress I’m afraid.” You said with an unassuming smile, hoping to yourself that you hadn’t given yourself away too much with your rosy complexion and eager grin.
Barnes nodded with a simple blink of his eyes, his lips hesitating to curl upwards. His own chest was swarming with butterflies; bursting from their long slumber and out of their chrysalis. The sight of you was damn near enough to send him over the moon; you were the most beautiful dame he’d ever seen.
But one glance at you sitting perfectly in the back of the motor car with your smile tripping into your lips, and his own reflection in the rear view mirror, was enough to remind him who he was in this world. Just a chauffeur hired under the good graces of Lord Stark, forever in the debt of his long time pal, Sir Steven Rogers.
“On your own, hm? Her Ladyship beginning to loosen the leash?” Barnes quipped, quickly biting his lip at his snark. He braced himself for impact; his mouth always moved faster than his mind, and it often led to some form of trouble.
Luckily for him, you giggled into your leather gloved hand and flashed your sparkling eyes back up to him with your pink tongue caught between your teeth. When was there ever a time you’d allow cheek from a driver? Much less allowing yourself to flirt with one?
“Her Ladyship feels like I needed some time away from Winterbourne on my own. She feels I’ll tire from my imposing will to be more independent if she gives me the slack I so desire.” You replied back to your much relieved driver, watching him take off his hat and then resettle it back onto his slicked back quiff of thick brown tresses.
“Could one ever tire from doing what one wants to do without any supervision?” Barnes supplicated, watching the mishief bubble within Lady Y/N’s cherubic face. He really needed to pay attention to the road more.
But she was so distracting, so enticing. So breathtaking he was afraid if he looked away for more than just a moment she’d vanish before his very eyes.
“I guess I’ll just have to find out for myself, won’t I Mr. Barnes?” You dared to jibe back, answering rather inappropriate questions from your Adonis driver.
Call me Bucky, if you wish, lingered on his tongue. But James held himself back, much to his own chagrin. How much did this job mean to him again? Bucky was damn near about to risk everything just to make Lady Y/N smile again. To hear the silver bells of her laughter chiming in his ears.
“I suppose you will, Lady Y/N.” Barnes winked, to which you involuntarily blushed at. Your cheeks flooded with a bright flush of pink, revealing the tell of your affection.
_
After a rather eventual ride to town, you felt as if the novelty of fashioning your new evening gown was dulled by your flagrant interaction with your new driver, Mr. Barnes.
He was the type of man Papa had always warned you about while you were away at Court- charming, lavicious, handsome. Barnes fit the bill for all such descriptive terms, but you knew there was more than what had met the eye.
You could hardly recall the dress being fitted on you or the seamstress sticking in pins to hem the length or the fit of the dress- your head was filled with daydreams of baby blues and strong hands gripped tight around the steering column.
Mr. Barnes came around at about half past 3, looking as crisp and dashing as ever, ready to pick you up and take you back to Winterbourne.
Had it been 3 hours already?
“How was your fitting, Lady Y/N?” Barnes threw over his shoulder, you settling into the carriage of the motor car as he started the engine up.
You smoothed out the front of your skirt as you tried to formulate an appropriate answer, one that wouldn’t reveal your current state of daydreaming.
“Well, it was quite alright. Got poked with a few pins here and there but it was an overall success. I should have my new evening gown by the end of week after next.” You said with a dainty smile and flit of your eyelashes, peering at Barnes occasionally to gauge his response.
“Well I’ll be. I’m most happy you enjoyed your first independent outing, Lady Y/N. And I’m most overjoyed I brought it into fruition.” Barnes replies with another subtle wink in your direction, you coming close to swooning over his debonair air about him.
He was bold; too bold. Too bold for a driver, but yet he fascinated you. You were all too willing to fall into the attractive grasp of your new chauffeur.
Keep it together, Y/N. You told yourself, even your own flushed body and racing heart refused to deny your attraction.
Keep it together.

Periodical logos link directly to that publication’s website. Active links within the body of the text link to the story or article in question (there’s an awful lot of ‘free’ stuff out there).
We will tend to feature the paying markets here, but are more than happy to include additional publications that are offering fiction in our fields; if you would like your publication included here, please contact us directly.

L, M, N for the fic writers ask !!!!!
Tumblr media
A Place to Call Home was a very personal story, so while I understood what Blaine was going through very well, it was still emotional draining to write a lot of the more intense scene, even if it was cathartic.
The ones that were more challenging would be look, look at you, and, currently, like it hasn't been forever. I had very specific ideas for how Blaine would be feeling and how Sebastian would be feeling and actually getting those emotions across was very challenging, and part of why it's taking so long for me to update like it hasn't been forever is because I still working on getting it just right.
Look, look at you specifically started out as a Klaine fic that I wrote almost 3000 words and four aborted attempts at making it work before I eventually realized, it was just supposed to be a Seblaine fic, and even then it was difficult. It's an idea I would love to explore more but I'm not sure if I am currently capable, but maybe in the future.
I probably have way stranger AU ideas from when I was younger, but I've almost certainly forgotten them now. Some of my favorite au ideas were usually polyam stories. Like I had this very fun throuple soulmates Sebklaine AU where Kurt got Sebastian's name on his wrist, Sebastian got Blaine's, and Blaine got Kurt's and it would take them a while to first work out what was going on and then why it would mean.
I had a d/s universe Starklaine idea (though I've contemplated writing it as Sebklaine, simply because I'm more comfortable with writing that) where Kurt has never been sure of his status but simply decided he would be a Dom, because it fit him fine and he couldn't imagine submitting to anyone he knows, so it must be the right choice. But then he meets Elliot and it makes him question everything, because suddenly he does have a desire to submit. And after a while he gets comfortable in his identity as a sub, until Elliot takes in Blaine, an abused sub, through some sort of... Foster type company? And suddenly Kurt's upset at first that his boyfriend suddenly has another sub living at his place, and he's jealous and upset, but Blaine is just so sweet and slowly he starts caring for him and wanting to take care of him and he realizes he wants to dominate him and he panics because he doesn't understand what that means. And basically Kurt is an oblivious switch because switch!Kurt is the best.
I really hope to write that one day, but as it stands, it's a ways down the road.
Oh and I can also talk about how my Mrs. Winterbourne Seblaine AU existed for years in my brain as an mpreg fic, because I wasn't an experienced enough writer to figure out how to make that fic work without going that route and having it be a straight adaptation of the movie.
Currently I'm really excited about how it's shaping up, and, actually, Klueless has really inspired me with the way you've kept the heart of the movie without it being a scene for scene AU, it's helped me through a number of my plot hangups where i felt like I was trying to hard to make it exactly like the movie.
I'm just really excited it see how some of the changes I've made to the plot fit into the original narrative. Specifically I'm really liking the deeper connection I've been able to create between Blaine and Sebastian as they both grieve their brothers together, whereas in the original movie, Connie hadn't actually lost anyone in the same way Bill had. It just makes the enemies to lovers more fun when Blaine is both actively very annoyed at Sebastian and also deeply understands the pain he is feeling.
I am currently on a train to New York right now, which does mean I'm suddenly very tempted to work on my Mrs. Winterbourne AU, but I specifically didn't bring my laptop so I would be encouraged to focus on reading while on this trip 🙃🙃
