Biodegradable shoes - and other items made with nature in mind - Positive News
The seaweed packaging especially seems like a great idea. We use way too much plastic in our packaging, but paper isn't always the best replacement because of the amount of trees needed to meet the needed amount.

Should I Use A 9 5 Or 10 5 Degree Driver For Distance And Accuracy The Professional Golf Web Site
It could be managed by most gamers with slower swing speeds and the added loft will get the ball airborne simply. Faster swing speeds will also benefit from the improved accuracy off the tee, and a change in the ball kind can decrease the spin issue if required. In principle, decrease loft should translate to more distance, which is the objective of all golfers. Meaning, you’ll only benefit from a decrease lofted driver if your clubhead speed is high similar to in the 100s of mph. If your swing pace is lower, you’ll should go for a driver with a better loft. You’ll additionally benefit from the next ball flight trajectory, extra distance, and forgiveness that could be absent in a 9.5 degree driver.
A 10.5 degree driver is more acceptable for recreational golfers with average swing pace whereas a 9 diploma driver is extra fitting for leisure golfers with excessive swing speed.
Adjustability in golf golf equipment allows the golf equipment to grow with you as your game improves.
This one is pretty straight forward… the faster you swing the golf club, the MORE SPIN you’ll generate on the ball.
If you're hitting a shot out of a bunker and also you get the ball to back up three feet, and into the cup, spin is a great thing. The loft on your driver can affect the space you'll be able to hit it. The roll you get in your drives may have extra to do with the spin your driver has than the loft.
What Is The Finest Loft For A Driver?
As novice golfers, relying in your swing velocity, you have to select a driver loft that fits your explicit circumstances. In is rowing machine good for golf , 9.5 diploma drivers produce less backspin, so slices and hooks are more widespread. On the other hand, 10.5 degree drivers usually create a small quantity of backspin which helps to generate a straighter ball flight. You may assume that with a swing speed of round a hundred and ten mph that a decrease loft can be better for me, however my spin charges were dangerously low.
Tumblr media
With a 10.5 diploma driver, my average distance was 249 yards. The longest drive was 265 yards whereas the shortest was 220 yards . The ball went slightly greater, however it wasn’t an enormous difference.
The 5 Most Forgiving Irons For Golfers
Some players have found a 12 degree driver to be extra comfy to hit, when compared to a 9 diploma driver. A 9 diploma driver is more helpful for a golfer who can swing the driver at round 105 mph or higher. A shot hit with a 9 degree driver will see much less backspin than with a 9.5 diploma driver. A 9 diploma driver is good for a golfer who wish to hit down on the ball.

"This can't be legal," Danny said in a weak voice. "I mean, how are they allowed to do this?"
Lancer tensed. "It falls under a gray area. If you ask me, the Anti-Ecto Prevention Act gives them far too much jurisdiction."
The GIW, full in pure white HAZMAT suits from the overlarge hoods to the fitted boots, ushered in the next student from his class. Poor Lester walked into the tent, looking green in the face. Sweat rolled down his temples and his hands shook as the suited agent clasped his shoulder and pulled him through the curtains.
Paulina sniffed. "I don't want to be microchipped."
"Were you even listening at all?" Wes scoffed. "It's biodegradable. It'll be out of your system within a year and prevents you from being overshadowed. Unless, of course, you are a ghost." His eyes flitted to Danny. "Then who the hell knows what it'll do to you?"
"I'm not doing it." Sam crossed her arms. She was sitting on the gym floor, cross-legged. "It's unconstitutional, the total principle of it."
"I can't believe I'm agreeing with Manson," Paulina said. "But they'll have to drag me in there before they insert something underneath my flawless skin."
Valerie rolled her eyes. "Not that I object to being overshadowed, but I'd rather not have the U.S. government tracking my every move."
"There's not trackers in them," Lancer said. "They were adamant about that when we were told about this."
"Great," Sam drew out, "the untested ghost repelling microchips with unknown side effects being nonconsensually administered to minors allegedly doesn't broadcast our current locations to the government. That eases my nerves."
The tension in the room was palpable.
"I have uh, I have epilepsy," Nathan spoke up. His voice was short and clipped. "Do they even know how this'll affect that?"
Lancer put his head in his hands. "Dear Lord. I didn't sign up for this. I hate this."
The curtains were drawn back again. An agent, possibly the same one from a minute before but it was hard to tell since they all looked the same in the HAZMAT suits. He looked down at a clipboard.
"Fenton?" he called. "Daniel Fenton?"
Danny stared at the floor from where he was standing, not daring to look up and inevitably see everyone's eyes on him. The tiles on the gym floor looked like maple-colored planks of wood, but there was a thin film of clear plastic—or maybe rubber—when he slid his shoes against it.
"Fenton," repeated the agent, "come with me."
He didn't look up.
No. Because if he looked up, that meant he would have to do something. He wanted to avoid this for as long as he could.
There was a sound of rustling and in his peripheral vision he saw his classmates move out of the way as the agent stalked toward him.
He stumbled backward, not quite tripping, but struggling to keep even footing. Oh. He hoped he hadn't phased his feet through each other. He used to be bad with that. This would be the worst time and place to fall into old habits.
The agent gave him an unreadable look, face obscured by the HAZMAT mask, but Danny could feel the man's impatience as he waved the clipboard.
"Fenton. You're up."
"No."
His classmates glanced at him nervously and the agent shifted his weight, giving an agitated huff.
"Kid, you don't get a choice in this. This is for your protection."
"I can protect myself, thanks," he snapped. "I think I'll do fine without your little ghost zapping chip embedded in my arm."
"I don't know who you think you are, but just because your parents are ghost hunters doesn't make you exempt from this. All students, no exceptions."
He locked eyes with the man behind the mask. Well, it was a calculated guess at where the man's eyes were but Danny hoped his stare came across as menacing.
"It's nothing more than a pinch. I promise this won't be half as bad as you're imagining."
"Oh, I'm sure it will be."
Wes cleared his throat.
"Fenton's a—"
Without warning, Sam pulled herself to her feet and slugged Wes in the face. Hard. He stumbled backward and almost fell on one of the bleachers. Blood dripped from her knuckles and from his nose. Oh. That was going to bruise badly.
Lancer cried in alarm.
"Miss Manson!"
"Sorry, Mr. Lancer. Muscle spasm."
"We don't have time for this." The agent reached forward and grabbed Danny's shoulder as he'd done to Lester minutes before. "Come on. Let's get this done."
Danny stood his ground, and the agent pulled against him. He was stronger than the agent, and despite that, he'd phased the bottom of his shoes into the uppermost layer of the gym's floor. He wasn't going anywhere.
"How in the world—?"
Paulina started sobbing at the top of her lungs.
"I don't want to be here! I don't want to be chipped! I want to go home!"
The agent turned toward her, startled. "Now, calm down now—"
Wes staggered forward, blood dripping onto the floor as he moved. Some fell onto the agent's pristine, white boots. He jumped away from Wes like he'd been burned.
More students joined Paulina, clamoring that they didn't want to be chipped either. Sam raised her bloodied fist and shouted—an unhinged, almost feral scream while Danny gradually phased his shoes deeper into the floor. Mr. Lancer pulled a book out from somewhere and was waving it around, a loose bookmark falling out as he did so, in a futile attempt to capture everyone's attention.
Three identical agents ran out of the curtained tent at the sound of the chaos.
"What is going on!" one of them barked.
"Sir, the students are being uncooperative," the first agent said.
"I need medical attention," Wes said, unhelpfully.
The new agent, who Danny decided was the boss, accessed Wes and the drops of blood on the first agent's boots with horror.
"Agent Kilo, you didn't…"
"No, no. It was the girl."
He nodded his head to Sam, who hid her bloodied fist behind her back.
"He's a liar!" she said. "He hit Wes! We all saw it!"
The other students gave tentative nods. Ever the performer, Paulina flinched away from Agent Kilo, as if afraid he might strike her. In the midst of it all Lancer did nothing.
"Kilo," the boss's voice was stern. "That's not how we do things."
"But I didn't—"
"You're dismissed for now. We'll discuss this later." He turned to Wes. "I do apologize."
Wes looked at him like he'd grown an extra head. "Alright?"
Agent Kilo stormed away, muttering something about lying, conniving brats and threw his clipboard on the ground.
Lancer stepped in. "If I may, I do say that my students have been through an emotionally stressful experience here and I don't know if they should continue with this today. Besides, Mr. Weston does still need medical attention and I believe that should be our top priority."
The boss grunted. "Right. Return to class. We'll continue this at another date."
He waved a hand and the other agents headed back to the tent. Meanwhile, the students trailed after Lancer toward the opposite end of the gym—all sighing in relief.
As they left the gym, Sam caught Danny's shoulder and hissed in his ear. "Danny, the clipboard."
The discarded clipboard was forgotten on the floor.
"Mark our names off," she hissed. "I'll keep them distracted."
He nodded. He tapped into invisibility and retrieved the clipboard. A ballpoint pen was clipped to the top of it and he marked off the box beside his and Sam's names, doing his best to emulate Agent Kilo's loopy initials for the official confirmation. With any luck, the man wouldn't remember it later among all the chaos. With better luck, the man would be dismissed from the GIW completely.
He flipped the clipboard face-up and left it closer to the tent so that the agents would find it. He flew back into the corridor and met up with Sam, who was lingering near the end of the group.
"Got it." He dropped back onto the visible spectrum. "We're officially chipped."
"Oh, thank God. You're a literal lifesaver."
Wes turned, holding a wad of paper towels against his bloodied nose. "Please tell me I'm not the only one who just saw Fenton appear out of thin air, right?"
"You're concussed, Weston," Valerie said, not bothering to turn around and check. "He's not a ghost."
"Manson did not give me a concussion!"
"Yeah, Agent Kilo did," Nathan brushed off. "Keep up. The GIW can suck it."
That was something they could all, unquestionably, agree on.

fawn my love!! If it’s no bother, what do u think abt miguel being with a harleyquinn!fem!reader? i am dying to hear ur thots on that!b🤍🤍
it's never a bother!! i think i may love this pairing a lot!
miguel uses you really as a last resort. you're a bit unconventional, even for him.
that and you're very distracting. you're in your suit, which is very different from the other spidersuits.
yours is more of a dress and stockings. your dress is pink and purple with black stockings and beat up shoes- you can see why he'd get distracted.
"y/n" he says begrudgingly to lyla, "get y/n."
you show up through the multi-dimension traveler portal bent down fixing your stockings.
miguel lets out a harsh sigh. he can't count the number of times you've done risky stuff like this. his heart can't help but skip a beat when you look up at him and grin wide though- like your day's been made a million times better now that you've seen him.
his has been made better; not that he'd say that.
"whaddya' need miguel? do i get to use the spiderbots? do i?" you're bouncing on your toes, and miguel can tell ben is staring at you as you do.
he can also tell ben is smiling under his mask and not that ben isn't good, but miguel can't help but want to give him some obscure, arduous chore when the return to the spider society.
"yes, you can use the explosives." you're off in a flash, webbing from building to building to join the fight.
the spiderbots are thrown onto killer croc and the green goblin's board. you summersault back to miguel and point, "3, 2, 1!" you're trembling with excitement and anticipation beside him.
miguel shakes his head, he doesn't think any one person should be this excited to take down bad guys.
the spiderbots go off with a little bit of blue glitter falling out of them. "look!" you grab onto miguel's arm and shake him, pointing to the way the anomalies have been tied up by the bots.
"that's very effective." he compliments which is the highest form of praise you could receive from miguel in any setting.
"i know!" you squeal, "the glitter is biodegradable too." you skip over to ben, "ben, do you think you can carry them back? i broke a nail last time."
ben nods, hefting both the villains on his shoulders as he walks through the now open portal.
"miguel, do you need me to make more? for the other anomalies?" you ask as you walk instep beside him.
"mhm," he watches the skirt of your dress ruffle as a breeze blows and has to look up to stop his heart from racing. "maybe we can redesign a suit for you too."
you spin around, manicured nail waving at him, "we've been over this, i like the dress."
miguel nods, "but what about those skirts that are a pants in the back?" he spends the rest of the day trying to convince you- he needs a little semblance of sanity when you come on missions.

hey. hey. i cannot make any inroads on your ethics but hey. hey listen. if you nod along with posts like this one
Tumblr media
look into how this stuff is processed sometime 👍
i mean, full disclosure: i do genuinely think “i love animal products ❤️ they’re biodegradable” is kind of antivegan cope because, you know, no one ever seems to be talking about natural plant fibers versus synthetics in these contexts— despite the fact that, on average, they comprise significantly more of your wardrobe and significantly more of your short-term, short-life garments— but also, and more importantly: i do not know what kind of beautiful little production chain is being imagined here, but the idea that you go from sheep or cow or so on to your wardrobe to the compost heap to fresh soil in 5-15 years, zero environmental impact, is really out of touch with most factors of consumption. leather for example can be biodegradable, but a lot of processed leather takes significantly longer to decompose— not as long as pvc, but longer than you use it for— due to the nature of its treatment. if you buy leather goods you are virtually never buying untreated leather; tanning is a chemical process with pretty significant environmental consequences. if you are getting for example a wool coat, the odds that you can afford a 100% wool coat as opposed to a wool-synthetic blend are pretty low; same with sweaters. so maybe you thrift a leather jacket or a vintage 100% wool sweater and get some use out of it. you buy a pair of leather shoes and feel good about it. hey, their treatment and soles probably biodegrade too right? and without any lasting impacts on the environment? and maybe you overcorrect for “vegan item!!” fast fashion greenwashing and end up with items which are pretty much exactly as non-biodegradable as their plastic equivalents, and exactly as short-lived because the quality of low-budget manufacturing these days seems to be constantly getting worse.
i don’t mean to scaremonger or whatever— there really isn’t much of a way out of this unless you have some serious cash to spend. but the idea of a totemic Ecologically Good category of material is obviously out of touch with how most people in the world get their clothes and loudly praising a product which is not actually in practice guaranteed to be better than its plastic substitute is oddly common on this website. cmon there isn’t even a character limit. there’s space to actually say something useful

god a few of the notes on that post about leather are so
“then just stop wearing leather OR pleather!!! nobody NEEDS leather!!!”
okay, I’ll bite: what are we supposed to make shoes out of?
I don’t want to wear plastic clothing. period. if it’s at all possible to avoid. call me crazy, but I don’t consider destroying habitats on a massive scale via microplastic runoff in water and non-biodegradable plastic waste in landfills “more humane,” to animals OR people. I recognize that a lot of people don’t have the luxury of that choice, because synthetics are often cheaper, and I would never judge those individuals for it. but fortunately, I do, and that’s the choice I’ve made
so that leaves the natural materials that are currently commercially viable. leather and fur are out, and by strict v*gan definitions, so are wool and silk. plant-based fibers it is, then!
I live in Massachusetts, USA. let me just lace up my canvas sneakers to go out in the next February blizzard
and I’m sure people who work dangerous jobs like construction will love the sturdy protection of hemp slip-ons
be v*gan if you want to (censoring to avoid tags); I get that it’s usually coming from a place of compassion even if I don’t agree on the execution. but for gods’ sakes, don’t be this out-of-touch. just like I know that not everyone will agree with my personal decisions on how to live the most ethical life I feel I can, please respect that other people’s realities may look different from yours

I'm sorry, but militant veganism is inherently racist, ableist, and actively harming the planet with greenwashed plastic use and trashing usable, long-lasting, biodegradable animal skins/fibers in the name of "saving the [domesticated] animals." Didn't we as a community have a conversation just last year about the way that shitty pleather doll shoes/clothes disintegrate in 10 years and leech PFAs into the water supply once trashed?

People on here are so weird about leather like. You guys act like the people who don't want to wear leather are like, out here buying every pleather shoe they can find. Like if it was actually about the environment, you'd be having a conversation with vegans and vegetarians about how to make more earth friendly choices. There are biodegradable options like bamboo (and probably others. I haven't even researched this myself and I know bamboo leather exists). And also people like me who don't even wear any leather substitute (canvas and cotton work well enough for me). But a vegan was mean to you once and now you're being a little bitch about it, because it's not about the environment it's about you being right.

as someone who is also trying to overhaul their entire wardrobe after throwing out fast fashion pieces,, do you have any specific brands you like, advice on places to get clothes for long-term wear, etc? ty!!
thank you for asking! this is a long post but it's been my life for a bit now so i would suggest reading through it to skip the learning stages that i went through the hard way! there is some important and useful info here :) brand recs at the end
i would suggest looking for vintage or secondhand clothes first and foremost bc that's how you can find quality pieces for a reasonable price :)
if you want pure longevity, synthetics like polyester, nylon, elastane, etc will last not only your lifetime but your grandchildrens' too. they can be quite comfortable sometimes BUT:
they will likely break down in hundreds of years
they are NOT biodegradable and so will break down into microplastics and toxic microfibers
for me and a lot of others, you will notice the difference in quality in synthetics vs fabrics like cotton and virgin wool. i refuse to buy synthetics for the above reasons but also bc they just Feel Worse idk how to explain iykyk (tip especially valuable for autistic ppl)
brands: all depend on style so look for the styles you like/want to dress in on pinterest, then track down the original designer of the dress! from there you can search irl places or plug the designers into apps like:
vinted: cheaper vintage or second hand clothes from all sorts of brands
vestiare collective: more high-end, pieces are authenticated and usually in great condition
GEM: a gem of a site truly, accumulates all the finds from your search from different websites like ebay, etc
depop: honestly not the biggest fan but can be good sometimes! make sure to buy vintage/secondhand and ask sellers for the brand to not get sold an aliexpress dupe for 100 bucks
vintage shops: especially good for accessories like belts and ties. vintage shops usually have much better stuff than charity shops
kilo sales: THE BEST PLACES IRL in my opinion i got a 2k+ virgin wool coat for £20 . honestly in my experience kilo sales are great. check out Worth the Weight if you're in the UK!
remember that brand history matters! for example vivienne westwood has a great reputation as luxury punk but the pieces produced in recent years are actually very low in quality, defintely not worth the money for a lot of people! pay for quality, not just the name :) same goes for jean paul gaultier's recent pieces imo.
additional VERY USEFUL tips:
the standard zipper used by most of the companies making your garments is YKK. if you look at any zipper you're wearing rn and inspect it closely chances are you'll see YKK engraved on it. before buying a piece check that it has opti or riri zippers - this is some indication of a higher quality
one of the first things to do before buying a piece is to immediately check the materials it's made of!! the tag detailing materials is usually towards the bottom of the garment . i immediately dismiss things that have higher than 5% synthetics but i'm just rly picky w materials
EACH MATERIAL HAS DIFFERENT USES !!! BUT GENERALLY: virign wool is the best kind of wool, full-grain leather is better than most other kinds of leather, mulberry silk is better than other kinds of silk
brand recs:
yohji yamamoto, yehufan (i own a skirt by him!!), marina eerrie, ann demeulemeester, jw anderson, solovair for shoes (much better than docs), maison (martin) margiela (esp artisanal line 0), miu miu (i wear their beret i thrifted for £15 almost every day), valentino esp pre 2021 , lemaine , undercover older pieces , early raf simons , ...honestly there's a lot, if you need more send another ask or DM :)
p.s. if u can go runway shows etc go to the sample sales afterwards sometimes the pieces there are gorgeous !! but sometimes v pricey :')
all recommendations and advice, don't take my word as gospel and defintely do your own research + formulate ur own opinions ! hope this helps ♡

Hey got any general tip for patching up some roughed up boots? the sole's glue keeps falling apart.
If you can, get some shoe goo and just put it on the spot that's falling off. Or get some duct tape and do it that way, or! Tech theater top here: but yourself some gaff tape. It's marvelous stuff, a little pricey but it's made of cloth not plastic so it biodegrades and also sticks much better. I use it for everything!

Wearable electronics could soon be made with a starch-based material to prevent e-waste
Soft, wearable sensors can improve our lives, but these soft and stretchable electronic devices are nearly impossible to recycle. As a result, this electronic waste usually ends up in landfills or polluting the environment. Polymer scientists from the University of Groningen have now developed a starch-based polymer that makes it possible to create a fully biodegradable soft material for sensors. They published a paper on this new material in ACS Applied Materials & Interfaces on December 13.
Soft, stretchable polymers are used to make various kinds of electronic devices. For example, they are used in smart watches to make contact with the skin. Sensors in shoes or clothing are also often based on these materials, as is the screen of your smartphone.
"These soft materials are often made from mixtures of polymers, which are difficult to purify. As a result, they are dumped in landfills, often with the toxic metal components of the sensor still present. This kind of electronic waste is becoming a serious problem," says Xiaohong Lan, first author of the paper and postdoc at the University of Groningen Polymer Science group led by Professor Katja Loos.

Surprising Benefits of Yoga Mats You Never Knew
Tumblr media
The Unsung Hero of Your Yoga Session: The Yoga Mat
Imagine the scene: a peaceful morning, a warm cup of herbal tea, and the desire to embark on a rejuvenating yoga session. As you unroll your yoga mat and transition into your first pose, have you ever paused to consider the vital role this seemingly simple accessory plays in your yoga practice? Let's delve into the often-overlooked benefits of the yoga mat that might surprise you.
1. Unparalleled Grip for Stability
