If I had a nickel for every ShadowClan leader with vitiligo… I would have two nickels. Which isn’t a lot but it’s weird that it happened twice.

I didn’t have a whole lot of vision in mind when designing him outside of the idea that he’s a colorpoint with vitiligo…

So I just kind of winged it, and I actually quite like how he turned out! Definitely not a favorite by any means, but one I’m satisfied with + stands out a bit from other Blackstar designs.

Design notes!

Blue eyes! (Since every point cat has blue eyes, I had to pick a color for Blackstar, despite always envisioning him with amber. My designs certainly aren’t genetically accurate by any means, but I like sticking to some rules, and this faded shade of blue really suits him, I think.) They were brighter in his youth.

Colorpoint with vitiligo! Which I find truly funny because it means he’s never been fully black in his life.

Six toes on each forepaw.

Black hind paws, and three black toes on his left forepaw and just one on his right.

Thickset body that easily packs on muscle, but due to how little he ate in his life, he’s a little more lithe and underweight than he should be.

Slightly stylized to look like a badger for Reasons.

Docked tail is a sign of a Brokenstar loyalist.

Scarring includes: Slash mark across his face. Thick scars across his right shoulder and on his spine (both mirrored on his other side). Smaller cuts across his muzzle, cheek, right foreleg, and haunches. One completely shredded ear, one tattered and torn ear. Docked tail.

Another day, another photoshoot, and this time Elesa's delighted to see that Skyla will be joining her on the stage. Credit to her associate Valerie on the costume design; the girlfriends sure have enough flair to keep the catalogues talking for weeks! This one's a nice sentiment since the artist designed the outfits themselves without input from myself. au drawings of cabinfever au rough kid designs and doodles

the vv basics, ignoring the tragic backstory stuff(that's a whole different story) is that as kids the twins escape a bad place after an incident in the woods, and elesa survives on the streets

the twins find and follow rail tracks to the city, elesa parkours and learns the wiring of the city

at some point early in adulthood, elesa hijacks the cell towers to challenge the entire city in a incident that earns her the unofficial* 'electric gym leader' title, and the twins establish and run an underground battling gauntlet laced between the active and abandoned warren of train tunnels

*there's no gyms and official battling as a system, pokemon are not actively hostile but are considered entities to be left alone, as the god pokemon in this world are a lot less interested or involved, and pokemon are in turn much harder to befriend. it is still possible, but the common opinion on pokemon fights is an amalgamation of 'wtf you're making animals fight each other for entertainment??' and 'way too dangerous why are you doing something so reckless' or even 'you're disrespecting the order of nature and the sanctity of pokemon'(religious opinion).

pokemon battlers are considered dangerous individuals and are viewed as a threat to law/order. in this respect, elesa in public opinion is a reckless criminal--but she holds a lot of respect in the battling community, and she essentially demonstrated her skill to the city so extensively they know they don't have the strength to go after her, especially since she gained allies and status in that move. emmet and ingo are less known, to the public the battle subway is more a rumor or something people get dared to find/challenge.

okay villain time!!

Here are the ones behind Team Plasma who are running the show! Ghetsis overthrew his son and took Unova under siege (see what i did there??), separating humans and Pokémon under the guise of a caring ruler. According to him, Pokémon are dangerous, vile creatures who were never meant to coexist with humans in the first place! As Unova's "noble protector", he has done all he could to remove Pokémon from human society. With the Hero of Truth unable to oppose him, that must mean he's right, right?

Anyways, these are my bad guys! Hopefully I'll be posting more about my AU cuz i have the first part all written and i want to build hype for it!! And oh boy, Grimsley and Skyla are with Team Plasma?? What a twist, I thought they were the good guys! Hopefully we won't be getting any more surprises like that.

Some design notes!

Even when standing, he sports a hunch.

His vitiligo is roughly inspired by Sally of “the_vitiligo_kitty” on Instagram!

Eyes are more dull in hue.

Purple-blue overtones.

Overall just very visibly ragged and run-down.

Scarring includes: Heavily ripped ears, nose bridge scar, several tears in fur (face, neck, shoulder), and a patchy-furred tail.
