Regarding chapter 293 of Blue Lock… (Comment/Personal opinion)

Okay, I think… I have some things to say about this chapter ending because I see that, in general, the vast majority of fans are quite disappointed. However, I don't think that it's the author's fault (or the authors, in this case). The problem is our own emotionality (which is not a bad thing, but we have already seen that the author leans towards rational and logical decisions when playing a game). We have the point of view of ALL THE PLAYERS, and that, whether you like it or not, provokes a certain empathy in you (if you have it). But the authors DON'T GIVE A DAMN about this. It is said from the beginning: HERE THE IMPORTANT THING IS TO WIN. Nothing else matters (although for us IT IS NOT LIKE THAT, okay).

But going to the chapter…

Without a doubt, I would say that it is one of the most consistent mangas that I have read in a long time. And the mangakas know their characters perfectly and how they are going to act.

Oh, yes, I also wanted Ness to score. Or Kunigami. BUT BECAUSE I EMPATHIZE WITH WHAT THEY HAVE SUFFERED (especially Kaiser's mockery of Ness in front of Isagi… Ugh. I get pissed off just thinking about it. And look at how Kaiser has suffered too! But he is such a son of a bitch, that he doesn't deserve to win right now, honestly. Of the two, I think that Kaiser is a much worse player than Ness, honestly, and I think that Ness, without him, has more chances of getting ahead).

However, CHANGING IS NOT THAT EASY FOR EVERYONE. Isagi is the KING OF ADAPTABILITY, just as he has been defined in some panels (and he also loves to win -like Ego, haha- and he is quite a fighter and impulsive; a guy determined in his objective). And it is NATURAL that HE is the one who can most easily intercept a goal. Especially because, even though Ness tries, IT IS NOT THAT EASY TO GET OUT OF A CONTROL AND MANIPULATION THAT HAS LASTED FOR YEARS (from the beginning, Kaiser went after him to turn him into his subject…). But we EMPATHIZE, we feel BAD (I confess that I cried my eyes out -this is very hard for me, okay?- with the end of the U-20 because I wished with all my might that Rin would score… But it didn't happen. And it hurt like hell, haha, and I scored volume 17 with one point less just because of that, hahaha). That makes Isagi's goal take away from us, rather than add to us. Although it is LOGICAL and COHERENT that HE IS THE ONE TO SCORE THE GOAL OF ALL THOSE PRESENT (how this boy has improved, haha) due to his ALREADY DEMONSTRATED SKILLS (oh, and he is also quite manipulative -although I don't think he is one hundred percent aware of it-…).

Regarding PxG vs. Bastard München being the worst game of the League, blah blah… I don't agree at all. For me, this one and the one vs. Machine City HAVE BEEN AWESOME. I think the problem lies in the fact that reading the manga in one go is not the same as reading a chapter every X time. So you always have to keep that in mind when reading something published weekly in my opinion. Because if you read the game in one go, I'm pretty sure you'll see the epic battle that was created here, honestly (which is also logical, because we're facing the two best teams in the league and, whether you like it or not, that has influenced why it lasted so long: we're facing very good players (in general) who will give anything for the game… And it has been proven in spades).

On the other hand… I think that sometimes we forget that at one point in the game THERE WERE SEVERAL PEOPLE, including MYSELF, who wished ISAGI TO SCORE (which hadn't happened to me for a long time). And now that he's here… It tastes bitter. Like most of his goals. Because we can't stop thinking about the ones we thought deserved to score; because we have feelings, at the end of the day. But… would we win any game thinking like that? Would we score any goal? Let's think about it seriously, because that's what it poses. Sometimes the objectives of one, unintentionally (or not) crush the objectives of others. Because we can't all be the best. And that's what Blue Lock offers us. A great manga in my eyes.

Anyway… That's what I think, I hope there's PEACE in the comments, because the last time I said something about a manga here on Tumblr they got down on me a bit, hahaha.

immediately sits down like it’s no big deal, but inside? pure panic.

keeps his arms crossed to avoid contact at all costs.

pretends to be completely focused on the movie but flinches every time you shift even slightly.

at one point, you lean closer to comment on the movie, and his brain blue-screens. he responds with some dry remark, but his ears are definitely red.

lets you sit next to him because he honestly doesn’t care where he is… until you’re actually there.

spends most of the movie too relaxed, slouching into his blanket, but his eyes keep darting toward you 👀.

when you laugh at something, he suddenly perks up and starts actually paying attention to the movie.

offers you snacks like, “want some? too much effort to finish it myself.”

lowkey hopes the movie never ends because you’re close enough for him to feel your warmth.

reo mikage

made sure your spot was next to his on purpose, 100%.

pulls out a whole charcuterie board like it’s just a casual snack 🤷‍♀️.

offers to share, and when you hesitate, he goes, “what, you think i’m gonna poison you or something?” with a smirk.

leans over to point out random details in the movie, his shoulder brushing yours every time.

when you shiver, he throws his fancy, designer blanket over you without even thinking 🥺.

politely lets you take the better seat while he sits right next to you with the softest blanket known to man.

when you mention you’re cold, he just casually drapes it over both of you like a pro.

the two of you end up whispering commentary about the movie, and he laughs softly at your jokes.

if you fall asleep during the movie, he’ll adjust the blanket and make sure you’re comfortable.

definitely sneaks a photo of you asleep and saves it for himself (totally not to tease you later).

hiori yo

doesn’t make a big deal about it, but you can tell he’s happy you’re sitting next to him.

quietly offers you some snacks, trying not to disturb anyone (but he’s also just shy ; me core fr.. ).

makes cute little comments about the movie in his soft voice that make you smile.

if there’s a jump scare, his hand accidentally brushes yours, and he gets so flustered.

“sorry! didn’t mean to—uh, you’re not scared, right?”

shidou ryusei

flops down next to you and throws his arm over the back of your seat like it’s no big deal.

constantly trying to make you laugh with dumb commentary (and somelike times it works).

halfway through the movie, he starts jokingly stealing your snacks just to get your attention.

“if you don’t stop, i’m gonna bite your hand.”

“oh? i’d like to see you try, princess.”

he’s obnoxious, but when you laugh, he actually softens a bit and keeps sneaking glances your way.

falls asleep?

no. this man has no chill when it comes to movie night. he’s hyper-focused, watching every second like it’s a game. probably rewinds scenes to catch every detail.

yes, 100%. but it's not because he's bored, he just falls asleep like a content baby after being entertained for 30 minutes. and when he falls asleep, expect some snoring.

He’s just surprisingly easy to talk to, and you find it easy to relax around him

After that, you find that yourself fast friends with him, and he’ll come over often to hang out with you to watch movies, listen to your trauma dumps or even just chill

It definitely doesn’t start out as romantic at first, despite the mutual physical attraction between you two

It’s not until one day where you’re sitting on your couch with him, when you’re making commentary about the movie that you watching, that he looks over at you and, really sees you

You’re rambling, eyes on the screen and tucking your hair behind your ear, and then it just kinda hits him, how there’s no one else he’d rather be with in these quiet moments than you

And that's when he starts trying to catch your attention

You won’t really notice at first, but you’ll eventually see that he insists on paying for you almost all the time, getting you gifts and getting more touchy with you

And you’ll try to refuse his ways of spoiling you at first, because you feel bad about using his money, but he’ll get this really pouty look on his face that you can’t refuse

lowkey I don’t wanna sound rude but your Chigiri like is canon Chigiri to me, to the point that I’m kinda surprised that (from your commentary at least) your characterization seems more niche. I’m only just dipping my toe into bllk fic but that genuinely surprised me because I think you nail it?

that means a lot to me !!!! i do try at least to make my characterization as accurate to a character as possible. i think chigiri is usually written as a much more uwu soft boy type

but i think that this is probably an intentional outcome of yusuke nomuras (the manga artist specifically) design choice. i think there are several characters nomura designs to intentionally interfere with how a character is received. isagi for example is probably one of the most generic looking characters in the series but he’s the main character, and not only that—he is o far the most unique character in terms of skill and advancement.

this isn’t the only instance of this imo. a great example is hiori. wide eyed, very lambish appearance with a very sadistic personality and sense of ego. kaiser is another character to me. designed to be flashy, edgy, smug with an ego that’s overall incredibly fragile and a deeply sensitive personality.

if memory serves right, the animal that we see as chigiris aura isn’t a cheetah (associated with with being incredibly fast) but rather a leopard. animals that are perceived to be similar.

leopards however, while much smaller, are significantly more dangerous. cheetahs are rarely a threat to humans —they’re kind of just passive when around humans, but leopards are aggressive and deeply confrontational.

so my characterization of chigiri as a partner follows a similar line of thinking. looks can and often are deceiving but it makes sense that not many people would pick up on it right away

chigiris name (first name, hyoma) also has the kanji that is used for panther and his nickname is the red panther. leopards are in the panthers genus as well so i think this is all on purpose

1. Rin

• he’s extremely private about his life in general, so his LOVE life is absolutely off the table

• if reporters were to ask him any questions about it, he’d have no problem saying "None of your business." and leaving them hanging

• no literally, any question about his love life will cause him to leave the interview immediately and without further commentary, so reporters learned pretty quickly to avoid that topic if they wanted an interview with Rin

2. Sae

• similar to Rin, he doesn’t really deem anyone worthy of knowing anything about his life besides his soccer career, and even that is only because it’s inevitable

• he also couldn’t care less what the media thinks about him and puts less than 0 effort into being remotely nice to his interviewers, he’ll always let them know how much of a bother they are being to him

• he doesn’t really mind if there’s paparazzi shots of him with you, but he also has no intention whatsoever of answering any questions about it

3. Chigiri

• he’s a lot nicer about it than the Itoshis, but he’s also not gonna budge whenever reporters attempt to coax out some info about his love life

• he will at least give them an explanation, saying that he would like to keep that part of his life private and that he wishes and demands for that to be respected

• following that, he would be quite upset if paparazzi were to leak pictures of him and you, despite him being so clear about wanting to keep his relationship away from the public (after that, his friendliness in interviews drops drastically, and he’s gonna stay pissed for a while)

4. Kunigami

• he doesn’t appreciate having people gossip about his love life and whether he has someone or not, so he will at least let the public know that he is taken

• however, he will also not answer any questions about you or the specifics of your relationship, and you can definitely count on him not slipping up and accidentally spilling something

• he doesn’t mind leaked pictures of you and him much, unless they’re showing too much of you (ex.: at the beach), because that sight is meant for his eyes only and he can and will beat up any paparazzo that refuses to respect your privacy in moments like that (pre!wildcard: he’ll tell them to leave first; post!wildcard: he’ll kick their ass on sight)
