Day 4 - Hurt/Comfort! - This piece is dedicated to @dr4k-e-bunnie - This is a thank you for the Bluepulse piece he made for me! He is an amazing artist, please check his adorable artwork out! I asked him what his headcanons were for Bluepulse and one was that he liked the concept of Jaime thinking about Bart (things like hugs or Bart being cute) and that he had no idea what was happening to him. This is basically Jaime’s thought process and him questioning his constant thoughts about Bart. I hope you like it buddy!

Bluepulse Week Day 4: Hurt/Comfort

“No, no, no, no, no!” Bart’s voice sounded panicked.

“Bart?” Jaime was confused. He couldn’t think straight for some reason.

“Help!” Bart screamed, “Somebody help! We need a medic over here!”

“Why do we need help?” Jaime asked, “What’s going on?”

“You don’t know?” Bart sounded confused now, “You don’t feel it?”

Scarab used Jaime’s voice to respond.

“I gave him a strong painkiller, Bart Allen. But I can’t heal a wound this serious on my own. You need to find help.”

“I— I can’t. Jaime needs me.”

“I can keep him alive until you get back, but you are not trained in healing. You need to find someone who is.”

The speedster zoomed away and Jaime immediately wished he hadn’t. He felt something... a shadow of pain in his side, but it was distant, kind of like every other sensation in his body right then. Was he hurt bad? Was something really wrong..?

“Jaime?” Bart zoomed up with Batgirl.

“Yeah?” Jaime groaned. He was so tired. Really out of it. Maybe he should just go to sleep. Maybe he’d feel better when he woke up.

“No, no, no, stay with me!” Bart exclaimed.

“You need to keep him awake, Bart!” Batgirl ordered, “I need to see the extent of the damage. Can you suit-off?”

Scarab took the armor off and Jaime heard Batgirl inhale sharply.

“Oh, God.”

“Ah, shit,” Jaime said groggily, “Is that blood?”

“I can’t fix this,” Batgirl said urgently, “Bart, you have to get him to a hospital.”

“I can’t! He’s too heavy!”

“Bart, you have to!” she insisted, “You have to at least try!”

“I—“

“Bart, if you don’t get him to a doctor, Jaime is going to die!”

Jaime was only half processing this. Everything seemed kind of far away at this point.

Bart wasn’t usually this strong, was he? He was carrying Jaime at super speed. Jaime was pretty sure his friend was crying. He was talking, too.

“Stay with me, Jaime. Just stay awake. Stay awake.”

“I’m tired,” Jaime complained.

“I know, I know, but you have to stay awake. It’s going to be okay, but you have to stay awake for me, okay? Can you stay awake for me? Please?”

“Okay...” Jaime mumbled.

Bart kept talking—no, singing—shakily. Jaime tried to focus on the words.

“And in the end, I’d do it again. I think you’re my best friend. Don’t you know that the kids aren’t all, kids aren’t alright. I’ll be yours, when it rains it pours. Stay thirsty like before. Don’t you know that the kids aren’t all, kids aren’t alright.”

There was more, but that was the point at which Jaime passed out.

...

Jaime woke up in a hospital bed.

“You scared me, you idiot,” Bart said. He looked more serious than Jaime had ever seen him.

“What happened?”

“You don’t remember? Superman got mind controlled. He started picking off the team members one by one.”

“Right,” Jaime recalled, “The Bat-kids we’re safe with their dad, Wally and Artemis are in hiding, and M’gann and Connor are powerful enough that they don’t need to worry as long as they stay together. So, his next target was you, and...”

“You were with me,” Bart finished, “Hanging out at that donut place I like in Gotham. Superman shot his laser vision at me and then... you pushed me out of the way. You almost died. I thought you were going to die.”

“I did, too,” Jaime admitted, “But it’s okay. I didn’t. Can’t get rid of me that easily.”

Bart smirked, “Guess not.”

There was a few seconds of silence.

“So... where are we at with the Superman situation?”

“Yeah... the League needs help with this.”

2011: 

I Won’t Ever Leave You Alone

Fandom: Percy Jackson 

Pairings: Percy/Annabeth

Summary:  What happens when Percy's sent to the Roman Camp and flat out does not want to remember his past? Can it have a happy ending? It's my first fan fiction and I hope you enjoy.

A.N: This WAS the first fanfiction that I ever wrote. It was bad. It’s STILL bad. however... if I didn’t ever write this one, then I never would have gotten less bad. That’s important! 

2012: 

The Ice Prince

Summary:  "Some say the world will end in fire, some say in ice" Robert Frost. The lonely ice prince wonders a frozen wasteland of his own creation, searching for companionship he will never be fortunate enough to find, with only vague recollections and half memories as comfort. A.N: this fic is actually shorter than the author’s note I wrote for it, but... I’m not going to lie. The atmosphere work is really great and the wording flows really nicely. I’m proud of this little piece. I think out of everything that I wrote that year, it shows my potential the best. 

2013: 

Hot Chocolate Heals All Wounds

Fandom: Percy Jackson 

Pairings: Reyna/Annabeth and past Percy/Annabeth 

Summary:  Moving on is never easy, but with hot chocolate, love, laughter and Reyna by her side, Annabeth might just manage.

A.N: 2013 was where I really started to take off as a fic writer. I improved drastically over the course of the year, but I still think that this fic that I wrote during the summer is the closest to my heart. It’s the first of my “ladies getting over trauma together and falling in love” genre. 

It’s not as good as I remember it being, and oh lordy. the smut.. the smut is bad. But there’s a lot of potential here, and I can still look back on it fondly. 

2014: 

The River Rushes On

Fandom: A Song of Ice and Fire 

Pairings: Catelyn/Cersei 

Summary: The official reason that she is sent to Riverrun is so that she can learn to be a proper lady alongside Hoster’s daughters. The unofficial reason, of course, is that Tywin found his golden twins having sex.

Or, the one where all good things end, but life continues.

A.N: I had a bit of debate going between this one and a sansaery fic that I wrote that year, but I decided that this HAD to be the choice. Catelyn/Cersei is a pairing that I came to on my own, but I ended up really loving because of the friends I made through the pairing. While this might not have been might best writing of the year, I feel like it was a formative enough experience that it overrides that.

2015: 

Caged

Fandom: A Song of Ice and Fire 

Pairings: Sansa/Margaery 

Summary:  In an alternate universe where many of the members of the Westerosi elite are magical creatures, the Lannisters seal Sansa Stark's wolf form deep within her. Margaery Tyrell vows to break the spell.

A.N: this is where we get into fics that I might actually recommend to someone. This one was one of the last fics that I wrote during high school, and it was inspired by our class reading of Macbeth and the emotional turmoil of getting ready to head off to college. There’s still some stuff I’m REALLY proud of in there. The spell ingredient “blood of a lover, willingly drawn” is still fantastic, the dream is still chilling, and I honestly sometimes think of adapting this premise into an original story.

Over the Shadowy Hills 

Fandoms: Young Justice

Pairings: Artemis/Zatanna

Summary: Wally is dead, but Artemis isn't. She's trying to learn how to deal with that.Featuring: Bart Allen, product placement Netflix isn't paying me for, blatant symbolism, and snaibsel sweaters.

A.N: 2016 was a REALLY hard one. I wanted to put like, 3 star wars rebels fics, but i’m holding myself to my one fic per year policy, and if it’s one fic for year... then it has to be over the shadowy hills.   

one of my other friends helped me work this into a fic that i could be really proud of, and it’s the better version of the same fic type as “hot chocolate heals all wounds” from a couple years earlier. i’m still really pleased with the way that this one panned out and i couldn’t leave it out of a best list, 

the honorable mentions:  you were someone, once the winter soldiered! ezra fic that helped me become friends with @bodhimcbodeface​, the ketbine soulmate au where sabine drew dicks all over her face, and then there’s the mirialan!ezra au. 

2017: 

you, me, and the flash makes three

Fandom: The Flash 

Pairings: Cisco/Iris, eventual Cisco/Barry/Iris

Summary: When Barry Allen wakes up from his coma, he finds out that Iris is dating Cisco. He tries really hard to dislike the guy, but Cisco makes it really hard. He's a likable dude.Things get more complicated from there.

A.N: i have a few others that i would have liked to put for this year, but i saw “you me and the flash makes three” and then i was like. well shit. i can’t pick anything else. this fic is a little under 15k and it’s really one of my favorite things that i’ve ever written. it’s a little cheesy and at parts feels a little clunky, but i think that the way that i was able to hit the most important emotional beats for season one of the flash and flesh out all the relationships within an ot3 outweigh that. 

honorable mentions are: how to fall in love with your mark, the bluepulse fic where bart allen realizes that he can’t kill jaime reyes and 

mantis prays to oregon, the guardians of the galaxy vol. 2 fic where mantis is ego’s biological child, but that somehow makes everything worse

2018: 

Ad Astra Per Aspera

Fandom: My Hero Academia

Pairings: Ochako/Bakugo 

Summary:  Ochako sees none of herself in Bakugo’s pure rage, her sheer confidence. Bakugo holds up an enormous middle finger to the world and says come and get it. She’s harsh. She’s loud. She’s angry. She doesn’t say what’s on her mind; she shouts it.If she’s being completely honest, Ochako is a bit in awe with her.People might not like her, but they take her seriously. Bakugo grabs them by the throats, pulls them in and says “I am woman, hear me roar."

Sequel to "knights in shining armor"

A.N: 2018 was the year that I embraced the gender bend and started writing bildungsromans that deal with coming of age and trying to puzzle out wtf being a person and gender even are. I’m really pleased with all of them, but this is my favorite. Partially because I think it’s the most well-written, partially because I like the motifs the best, but mainly because it taught me a lot about myself and my writing. 

Also it accidentally got me to ship kacchako, which is something I appreciate.

2019: 

Paint a New Horizon 

Fandoms: A Song of Ice and Fire

Pairings: Sansa/Margaery and abusive Sansa/Joffrey

Summary:  Sansa is a painter. The moment that she meets Joffrey he becomes her muse. After they get married she starts to see his true colors unfold in front of her and she loses her passion. Then she meets Margaery. Her presence changes everything, and reignites a passion for painting and for life that Sansa thought was long buried. It’s too bad that leaving Joffrey isn’t an easy task.

A.N: this fic is 23k of my sweat and tears. i know that it’s kind of a weird premise, but this was the most gripping writing i’ve done all year. it was exactly right for me at that moment. 

however, it does spell a bit of a turning point in my writing and life. in the past, i have written short fics that i could get posted fairly quickly. this fic was the result of multiple weeks of work when i was off school, not working much, and focusing mainly on... writing this damn thing. moving forward, i’m going to have to try to figure out a way to keep up my motivation and drive with longer projects when i don’t have the time to dedicate to HUGE chunks of work at one time when i also know i’m not going to get the instant gratification of kudos immediately after a long writing sesh. i know that sounds silly, but this is the first year where the majority of the fics i wrote WERE longer. 

while i’m very pleased with all of these longer fics, it does mark a shift that i will just have to learn how to deal with.

Bluepulse week 2019

day 4: Angst/Comfort. 

Set up just after Young Justice Season 3 episode 17 "First Impression."

I try to write something not sure if it's good but I give a shot

When Cassie saw it was a Reach ship, Bart first reaction was this one: "This... is so moded." he muttered but in reality he couldn't stop thinking something No, not today, not this special day. I won't let them destroy her memory or do anything to the metahumans. The fact that Gar activate the alarm make him realize they were going on the field, stopping the Reach. Geoforce was the first one to arrived but he didn't pay attention at what Brion was saying. However when Static and Blue came, he felt the urgence to tell them. "There is no drill. The Reach are back." announced Bart hiding the fear and what he been through in the future as much as he can. "No, just no way." replied Jaime and he didn't escape to the speedster how much Jaime remember his time when he was on mode. They saw Aquaman trying his best to fight those ships but the new team didn't wait that the leader of the League was seriously injured to intervene. It turned out that this attack wasn't from the Reach but from Intergang. When he saw it was humans, Bart was relieved, her memory wouldn't be destroy but a bigger Reach ship was still active and Bart knew he could cause enough damage to destroy a town, that's why they all decide to stop that ship from inside even if that means they died from the collision. They survived, the sheriff let them go and the Outsiders is officially born. For their first day, Garfield organize a party inside their new HQ, everyone accepted and it was decided that the team stay here for the night. Once they were all tired they went to bed but Bart couldn't sleep or at least in this particular day for him. Each year it's the same thing when that day is near, he can't sleep and more this year because Joan.... He didn't want to think about it, Bart knew Joan has lived a long time and has seen many things but he didn't want to see Joan died, not after Wally. After all, the Garricks saw him as a son and since Barry and Iris were more like at their age to be his parents, then Jay and Joan could fully asume the role of his grandparents. But Joan wasn't dead so there still hope. However today, he has to respect the memory of someone else who died as an hero, his hero. So he took something he bring with him, here in the past and went in the hall. There he made appear one of the screen and upload from this screen what he wanted to see. A photo appeared: he could see himself when he was five and a woman just behind him, her hands on his shoulders, she had long brown hair and golden eyes. "It's already been ten years you left me... Mom." he let his tears fall and he sat on the couch, holding tightly his legs near from his body. He knows if he fall sleep then the memories of this horrible day would come but his eyes were heavy and he tried his best to stay awake **** Jaime was sleeping, the events of the day turned to be not that important since he discovered the Reach were in reality humans disguise to make believe the Reach were back. Until scarab interrupt him in his sleep. "Jaime Reyes... Jaime Reyes !" "Dios mio, scarab. Can't I sleep peacefully one night ?" "I know you're not traumatized by what happened today but it seems not everyone has the same luck as you." "What you're talking about ?" "Jaime Reyes, scans show that Bart Allen has a nightmare." Of course, Bart has a nightmare, the speedster lived for thirteen years in a post apocalyptic future where the Earth has become the propriety of the Reach because he was put on mode. They still don't know how much it was horrible in the future but being born with the metagene wasn't a good sign, Bart has probably see the worst when he was a child. But thanks to him and his trip in the past, they stopped the Reach invasion and change the future. However today, when Bart told them the Reach were back, Jaime immediately saw in the green eyes of Kid Flash that still inside him, Bart was afraid and probably traumatized by what he been through, all the pain came back. Jaime should have know and talk to Bart when they returned from their first mission as the Outsiders because they are best friends. Or at least he thinks but it's not really the time to think about his emotions. Bart needs help, his help. "Scarab, where ?" "In the hall." Once he knew that, Jaime ran outside his room, and went to the hall. He notice that one of the digital screen has been open near to the couch. "The Kid Flash is in this direction." indicated the scarab. "I know." Slowly but surely, Blue approach the place and he saw the auburn hair of Bart, he went towards the speedster faster but what he saw on the screen attract his attention. "In this photo, is that..." "The Bart Allen ? Yes, however I don't know recognize this woman." "She's beautiful." said Jaime. "No... No, don't take her away from me." "Bart !" recalled himself Jaime, he turned around to see Bart laying on the couch and tears rolling on his cheeks and this break Jaime's heart. "It seems his nightmare has become more violent, Jaime Reyes." "We should wake him up." Jaime try to do it by shaking him gently but it wasn't enough so Blue start to call him. "Bart, hermano, it's just a nightmare. You're safe, the Reach are gone, they can't hurt you or anyone else." "Release her, you monster, you damn traitor." With those words, the latino understood Bart was facing the evil Blue Beetle and he was clearly hurting someone dear to Bart. "Bart ! Everyone is fine, I'm fine." "I'm begging you, don't kill her please, I'm ready to come with you but let her alone." "Not good that if Bart is really thinking his nightmare is real, he is gonna to be in coma. Scarab we need to do something." "But what Jaime Reyes ?" "Can't you-" he was cut off by Bart. "No, No. MOM NO !" Suddenly Bart wake up but not in a way Jaime was expecting because Kid Flash had jump on him and Jaime was laying on the ground, Bart on top of him, a vibrating hand ready to rip Blue's heart and around Bart's arm... It was red lightning ? "You kill her, you took everything from me. Now, it's time I've got my revenge. You're gonna to pay for all your crimes, Blue Beetle." "No Bart, you're wrong, you're not anymore in the-" "MOTHER OF GODS, is there no way to sleep peacefully ?" shouted Brion then he saw Kid Flash with a vibrating hand. "Kid Flash, what are you doing !?" he exclaimed and it seems to have free Bart from his nightmare. "Brion ?" then he faced Blue "Jaime ?" "Yeah, it's me, hermano." he answered while the mask of his armor went off to reveal his face. Bart was shocked then he look to his hand who wzs still vibrate but his eyes went wide open when he saw the red lightning, he back off until he was against the couch. "Hum... One of you mind to explain what happen ?" said M'gann, Garfield at her side. "I do not know." said Brion. "Blue ?" she asked "Scarab told me that Kid Flash had a nightmare. A violent one because when he woke up he thought I was..." "The evil Blue Beetle from his future." finished a sleepy Cassie. "Does everyone is awake ?" asked Jaime. "Yeah pretty much... Holy shrap, who is that girl ? She's... Hot." said Virgil pointing the digital screen. Everyone looked up and Jaime could hear the whisper from his teammates. "Jaime Reyes, the comment of the Static has put Kid Flash in distress." intervened scarab Jaime look at Bart and now he saw streams of tears from Bart. Jaime had never saw his bestfriend potential crush like this. Whatever the nightmare, it must be terrible but right now Bart need comfort. "Hey, hermano. Everything is good, it was just a nightmare." "No, it's not good because she's not here anymore and I almost kill you, Blue. If Geoforce hasn't been here, you'll be dead, your heart in my hand." M'gann has slowly approach the speedster, she make a gest to touch Bart hand because she wanted to know what kind of nightmare it was to cause such reaction but she stops because it was a private thing. But Bart saw it and decide to grab gently Miss Martian hand. She didn't have time to react that she saw by flash moments of Bart's life with the woman that Virgil said was hot. With the first flash, she understood that woman was Bart's mother but what shocked her the most was the last one, where she has been murderer in front of the eyes of her soon by Blue Beetle. Once they came back to reality, M'gann hug Bart like she has done with Garfield on Rimbor. Jaime understood that she saw Bart memories with his permission. She even let a tear fall, making understood to the Outsiders how bad Bart life in the future was a living nightmare and that his nightmare who woke up everyone was a memory. Jaime decide it was time to bring his friend back to his room and to not let Bart alone tonight. "I bring him back to his room and stay with him for the night." "You sure ?" M'gann asked concern "Yeah." And it seems that Bart too decide it was to Jaime to do it because he pass his arms around Jaime neck from behing. So Jaime carried Bart to his room. Garfield wait for Bart to be back in his room before to close the digital screen. "Hey, Why did you close it ?" asked Virgil. "Someone has a crush on someone he doesn't know and who is in the future." teased Cassie. "Virgil... It was Bart mother." announced M'gann and everyone was shocked at this announce. "Then Bart's nightmare, it was about her ?" asked Garfield and M'gann nodded sadly. "May she rest in peace." declared Brion. **** "Today, it makes ten years." said Bart with a low voice once back in room "What ?" "Today, it makes ten years she's dead." "Who ?" asked Jaime but he has feeling he already know the answer. "My mother." he answered "she was killed by your twisted version." he explained and Jaime feel his stomach make a rollover at the moment he put Bart on his bed. "Today ?" "Yeah." "So when we thought the Reach were back...." started Jaime "I didn't stop to think at her. I missed her, Jaime. Each year, at this time of year, it's the same thing." "What do you mean ?" asked Jaime but Bart stayed silent then Blue understood what he means. "The nightmare you had a few minutes ago. You have it each year, right ?" "Yes but because I don't want to see it, I'm not sleeping and I staring to the photo you've seen. It's the only thing I have of her." Jaime nodded. "Can you stay with me ?" "I was planning to do it." "I mean on the bed, near to me." Bart explained. Jaime didn't expect this but he accepted it, he wait that Bart was laying before to join him. Once he was comfortable, Bart curled up against him, Jaime face become hot to the sudden loss of space between the two of them but he didn't said anything. He look to the speedster but he saw he was already sleeping, his red googles and mask not on him anymore, Jaime could see his face and took time yo admire the features of Bart face then he pass a hand in Bart's hair. "Sweet dreams, cariño. Scarab ?" "I'll wake you if there's any problem with Kid Flash." "Thanks."

Bluepulse Week Day 1: Power Swap

No, no, no, no, no, no, no. This couldn’t be happening. This could not be happening.

Bart pinched himself, trying to wake up. No luck.

“You are not dreaming, Bart Allen,” the voice in his head said, “Although I understand your confusion. These circumstances are very strange.”

“Stop,” Bart whimpered. The scarab had been talking to him almost nonstop since the villain of the day had switched his powers with Jaime’s. Mostly, the piece of alien tech tried to calm him down, but that just made him more panicky. He didn’t know how Jaime could stand this.

“You okay, hermano?” Jaime asked, looking worried as he polished off his third pizza, “I know how weird it is to have his voice in your head at first. I remember how much I freaked out.”

“He sounds like an slightly-older version of you,” Bart groaned.

Jaime grimaced, “Yeah. I noticed. He didn’t sound like that at first, but he evolved to match me after a few weeks.”

It was weird how easily Jaime was taking this, though he did seem annoyed by how he had to eat pretty much constantly. Bart, on the other hand, was freaking out.

“Calm down, Bart Allen,” the scarab said firmly, “Panic will not solve anything.”

That just sent Bart into another wave of panic. The real reason the scarab’s voice freaked him out was because it sounded a bit like Jaime in the future. As in, the not-Jaime evil Blue Beetle, except higher pitched.

Jaime’s phone buzzed.

“Scarab says your adrenaline levels are through the roof.”

“He can text you?”

“Usually he doesn’t need to, cause he just talks in my head, but yeah. He can.”

Jaime’s phone buzzed again and he looked more worried.

“Bart, he says you’re borderline having a panic attack. Why is that?”

Bart took a deep breath, trying to calm himself down and not throw up. It was weird enough to have to adjust to not having the speed force in his system, but having this voice that sounded so much like his nightmares in his head? How was he supposed to cope with that?

“He sounds like you,” Bart said, in an effort to explain.

“Yeah, you said that,” Jaime agreed, looking confused.

Bart didn’t outright want to say the e-word, but he had to explain, “No, not you you. The...”

“Future version of me,” Jaime realized, “He sounds like the evil Blue Beetle.”

Bart nodded, unable to say anything else.

“Scarab, can you send me the audio recording from that one conversation we had? I know you know what I’m talking about.”

The Scarab didn’t say anything in Bart’s head, but Jaime’s phone buzzed about a millisecond later.

Jaime silently pressed the play button on the recording, and Bart heard two voices he recognized.

“We need a contingency plan in case we ever get put on-mode again.”

“If you had listened to me in the instance of Green Beetle, we might never have been put on-mode in the first place.”

“I know, I know. I am not having that conversation again. We still need a contingency plan.”

“...”

“I know you care about Bart as my best friend and the rest of the team as friends even if you won’t admit it. Have any ideas for the contingency plan?”

“...you would have to promise me that it would be only a worst-case scenario plan. That you would never use it unless absolutely necessary.”

“Fine, hermano. I swear on my life. Now tell me your plan.”

“...”

“That bad, huh? Tell me anyway.”

“I will program myself with a fail safe. Something that will activate on a password phrase from you, thought forcefully or said out loud. I will program it deep enough that I will not be able to remove it.”

“That sounds good. What’s the fail safe?”

“That is the bad part, Jaime Reyes. The only method that will work with 100% certainty is a release of a toxin that will kill you, and therefore disable me.”

“...do it.”

“What?” Bart looked up at Jaime in shock.

“It was the only way,” Jaime said calmly, “If I go on-mode, your future happens. I can’t live with that. The fail-safe is only a worst case scenario option. The phrase is something so random that I’ll never say it accidentally in real life.”

“It’s too risky!” Bart insisted.

“No, it’s not,” Jaime shot back, “It’s preventing me from ever having to almost watch myself kill my friends ever again! It’s making 100% sure the future you lived in never happens!”

“Still, why would you even consider doing a fail safe like that? Both of you?!” Bart aimed the question at the Scarab on his back.

“Jaime Reyes is correct. It was the only way.”

Jaime answered, too, “To save you, I’d do anything.”

Bluepulse Week Day 2: Celebrations

(Sorry it’s so short but I have absolutely No ideas.)

Bart Allen came from a post-apocalyptic future where the vast majority of humanity was enslaved by an alien race. This meant that he most likely had never had a birthday party, or even ever seen one.

But the fact that he tried so hard, with black and blue balloons, a homemade chocolate cake, and enough tacos to feed multiple speedsters and everyone else at the surprise party almost made Jaime cry.

And the hopeful look on the speedster’s face when everyone jumped out and yelled ‘surprise,’ wondering if he’d gotten everything right?

That was one of the things that made Jaime Reyes realize he had fallen in love with his best friend.

Bluepulse Week Day 3: Pride

(Any sexualities I mention here are my personal headcanons. I also haven’t seen season 3 yet so I won’t be using any of those characters. Also, sorry it kinda sucks, but this was the best I could come up with.)

“Ready?” Bart asked with a smirk, squeezing Jaime’s hand.

“So ready,” Jaime agreed.

The two of them joined the group of superheroes on their team standing out with various pride gear on in front of the homophobic rally.

This had been Bart’s idea, and to be honest, Jaime had never been prouder of his boyfriend. What better way to celebrate pride month than to send a big ‘f you’ to people who didn’t think the lgbt+ community deserved the right to exist?

Doing a headcount, Jaime couldn’t even see all of his friends in the crowd of heroes, but he knew they were somewhere here.

Nightwing, Wondergirl, and Kid Flash had painted mini pan flags on their cheeks, and Zatanna was wearing an entirely new suit in those colors.

Artemis and Red Arrow were wearing bi shirts over their suits, Superboy was wearing a flag like a cape, and Robin had tied one to his staff and was using it as a flag pole.

Aqualad had painted his tattoos the ace colors.

Miss Martian had shapeshifted her suit to the non-binary colors, and everyone else was at the very least wearing a straight ally shirt (even Batman.)

Jaime himself was using a bi flag as a cape, and Bart looked like the gayest gay to ever gay in his rainbow suit.

The homophobes were shouting hateful messages about how the heroes were going to hell, but a few at the back looked unsure. Good. If they could change even one mind today, it would be worth it.

Batgirl was in a heated debate about why homophobia were wrong with a man twice her size when she yelled the signal Bart had made up.

“All of us combined have saved countless lives over the years! We have literally saved the planet at least twice! And if you think after all that we’re going to hell just for loving for someone of the same gender, maybe we’re not the ones who are wrong here!”

Jaime looked down at Bart with a smile, “May I?”

“That was the signal, my dude, so...”

At the same time, every hero with a same-gender date mate kissed them, and the shouting only got louder.

Jaime didn’t care. He knew that the straight heroes would protect the non-straight ones while they were vulnerable.

And to be honest, if literal superheroes wouldn’t change the minds of hateful people, pissing them off felt like a good option, too.
