sorry but buckt*mmy is so boring and underdeveloped, and their chemistry is literally almost non-existent except for that first kiss scene. i was excited for them at first, and yet they left me feeling so disappointed. they had 6 episodes to make them interesting and have some depth and all they did was make them kiss twice and cringey daddy kink jokes on their short and uninspiring date. i've never been more disappointed in this show than in the way they handled buck's bi "arc".

Another day, another time to debunk shitty takes I see online.
I've seen a multiple of people pointing out that "we don't know anything about Tommy" and how could people ship him with Buck (nevermind that the ship is canon and always will remain so) when we know so little about him?
First of all, I'd actually make a point to say that we as of now already know more about him then all the other LI that Buck or Eddie ever had in the show.
I shall make you a list, so that you may remember it more easily:
- He likes cars and he's a good mechanic (extrapolated by the fact that Eddie explicitly said that fixed/improved his engine)
- He likes playing basketball and he's also quite competitive ("we'll make short work of them" said in reference of Buck and Chim)
- He's sarcastic (the closet line)
- His favourite film is "Love, Actually"
- He loves Monster Truck and Craft Beer, and MMA
- He has a big scar on his chest and it came from a fire in a factory
- He's a very skilled pilot, able to manoeuvre in a hurrican, and doesn't waver in the face of danger
- He likes watching and practicing Muay Thai
- He was a pilot in the army
- He only came out when he started working in Harbor, but prefers not to publicise his sexuality
- He doesn't like Bella Swan (and it's implied he might like Jacob more) and he watched the Twilight movies
- He likes to drive his friends to events
- He has friends that can get him high up tickets for shows in Vegas
- He has permission to fly airplanes for personal reasons when he's not on the clock
- He likes to be helpful and he's thoughtful (driving Eddie to check out his sprain, going to Buck's to clear out the air without prompt, immediately agreeing in helping the 118 with the whole ship operation, trying to get Buck to be at ease on their date)
- He's loyal (he didn't rat the others out when the chief called on their way to Bobby)
- He's a smooth flirt
- He can do a mean mouth static (at least in his opinion)
- He pays the bill on first dates
- He is very much the definition of carpe diem (kissing buck was very much shooting his shot)
- He checks for consent
- He kept contact with Chim ever after he left the 118
- Chim called him for help in the episode Broken
- He went to the 217 and opened the spot for Buck at the 118
- He participated in the betting pool Hen made on how long Bobby would last at the 118 captain
- He apologises when he's in the wrong and is shown to be able to correct his behaviour
- He doesn't like chickens (lol)
- He likes the film fight club and can quote it
- Implies to have dated people he met on a call
See? We know quite a lot actually. So you may get off your high horse how about that.
I don't think I missed anything but do let me know.

— headcanons. what life is like for miles!42
a/n: i honestly didn’t mean for these to get so angsty oopsies!! i kept adding on so they’re also very lengthy wc: 1,751
contains: mentions of grief
Tumblr media
Everyone thinks he’s rude and impossible to approach—but that’s a common misconception. In reality, he’s actually quite shy and simply prefers to keep to himself. His quiet nature often causes him to come off ill-mannered, which is completely unintentional on his end and partially the fault of those who assume what he’s like instead of actually getting to know him.
He used to be open to making friends and spending time with peers, but after everyone found out his dad died— which was impossible to prevent considering the man who used to drive him to school now had a giant mural made in his honor— he began receiving a ridiculous amount of pitied stares in the halls, began hearing hushed whispers about how hard things must be for him at home now. And even though they were, he hated that he was being treated differently by those he once kept close to him, like a charity case. As if he were fragile and would break— like he often did when he was alone.
His old friends were supposed to be his distraction, something to take his mind off how he now had to grow up faster than he’d liked. Something to remind him that his trauma hadn’t aged him as much as he feared; that he truly was still a kid at heart. But instead, they served as a constant reminder of the worst thing he’d ever had to live through— skated around him like he’d blow up the second they said the wrong thing; responded with heartfelt condolences instead of laughing with him whenever he’d tell a funny story about his dad. So eventually, he drifted away from them and began keeping to himself all together.
Don’t put him in a box because of his prowler side hustle, this boy is smart as hell!! Especially with one parent now being gone and his mom struggling to pay the bills? He takes his academics very seriously, he has no choice. He has to get it out the mud somehow and he doesn’t have the privilege of skipping classes as much as 1610-miles does. He’s working two years above his grade level in AP Calculus and AP physics, and has been accused of cheating on his tests a couple times due to how fast he completes them, as well as the fact that he has never once asked a question from the seat he chose in the back of the room.
It’s not something anyone would expect, but he enjoys baking a lot and he’s damn good at it too. When he was younger, he’d spent one summer with his Mamá Lena (Rio’s mother), who had him in the kitchen helping her cook and bake almost everyday and it just stuck. It’s a secret talent of his that never really comes up in conversation, and that you wouldn’t know about unless you’ve seen him doing it. His banana bread muffins using a recipe he took months to perfect taste like the gods themselves made them, and he’ll slip one into his mom’s work lunch whenever he makes them because he knows they’re her favorite.
He’s a lover boy at heart, if you were to look into his playlist, the songs you’d find in there probably wouldn’t be what you’d expect. Listens to bobby bland, which was heavily influenced by his uncle, old school rap, and he really likes love songs from the 90s because they make him feel calm, and allow him to imagine what his life would be like if he could have something like what they’re singing about. He’s terrified he’ll never be able to experience that due to his inability to open up to others. And often, he doesn’t even try to express the emotions that are tough to swallow, a firm believer in the saying that ‘once you’re down, it’s hard to get back up.’
Keeps his room pretty clean. It’s probably the one and only thing he has control over in his life, a constant for him. His room is his safe-haven so he treats it as such. It’s basically the same as 1610’s, just with a more matured look, a lot less color and less expression. He unfortunately lost that spark for a lot of his interests, so you won’t see more than a small punching bag, some boxing gloves hanging from the doorknob and few stragglers in the form of posters he didn’t feel like taking down.
He doesn’t like to argue, at all. He hates fighting with anyone he loves and he’s very quick to forgive them or squash the disagreement all together now that his dad is no longer here. When Jeff died, they were still on rocky terms from their previous dispute and even while years have passed, Miles still has yet to forgive himself for that. So now, he usually lets bygones be bygones, and never lets a conversation end on a bad note.
Continued growing his hair out once he realized it was a way for him to bond and spend more time with his mom. Within the little availability they do have, between her working doubles at the hospital, him being pulled in every direction now that he’s the ‘man of the house’—uncle Aaron’s words— and having to do things he’s not proud of to assist her while still going to school during the day, they make the time. Miles only gets it braided by her, and he enjoys the talks they have when he’s sat on the floor between her legs with his back to her. And when she’s done, regardless of how ridiculously embarrassing it is, and how he’s now over a head taller than her, he always lets her pinch his cheeks and call him her ‘handsome little man’. He hasn’t looked at a pair of hair shears since.
On that note, he is very, very defensive when it comes to his mother. Miles is not the kind to go around beating people up just for kicks; mostly because he’s not that kind of person, but also because even if he wanted to— he can’t.
In preparation for stepping into the prowler role Uncle Aaron put Miles into boxing/m.m.a classes when he turned fourteen, and he took to the skill very quickly. So well, in fact, that his hands can now technically be considered deadly weapons in the eye of the law due to his extensive training— which means he could get slapped with a ridiculous assault charge that would have him doing some time in a juvenile correction facility over a simple fist fight. (if he’s not masked as the prowler obviously).
But, some kid in his history class thought it’d be funny to make a slick comment about how Mrs. Morales was ‘single’ and ‘up for grabs’ now that his dad had passed, and the situation ended with Miles suspended for a week after he’d basically thrown his desk over to get to the kid, his knuckles bruised, and a tirade of complaints from the boy’s mother about his now-rearranged nose. However, after hearing the disgusting comment he had made about Miles’ mom, she was kind enough to not press charges and forced her son to apologize to the both of them.
That woman is his saving grace, literally. She stepped up in ways he didn’t even know were possible after his dad died, barely taking time for herself to grieve because she wanted to make sure her little boy didn’t fall apart. He doesn’t let anyone disrespect her and that’s always made known by him. He’s a mama’s boy.
They kind of have a titfortat thing going on, him and his mom. Like how she always stops in to ask him how his day was, if school is going well or if he needs anything, even if the time isn’t ideal and she’s talking to a sleepy Miles at 1am in the morning who can barely keep his eyes open. Or how his uniform is always freshly ironed and laid out for him in the morning, regardless of how exhausted she is and how badly she wants to crawl into bed after her shift. Or how when he’s sick, she’ll drive all the way across town to one of the only fresh markets that sells yuca root and white yautia so she can make him sancocho (a traditional puerto rican dish). It’s the one thing she knows always makes him feel better.
And Miles does nice things for her, too. Like draping a blanket over her sleeping form when she dozes off on the couch in front of the TV. Or making sure her phone is plugged in, so her alarm goes off in the morning, because sometimes she knocks out before she can bring herself to do it. He even goes as far as to secretly slip some extra cash he’s made from a recent job into the ‘RENT’ jar she keeps on her dresser— dropping a hundred in every now and then when she’s not there to see him do it. She’s never once asked him for help, but the one time he took it upon himself to offer it, he was shot down in seconds, and was made to promise her that he wouldn’t worry about it ever again. Her exact words being “You’re too young to worry about something like this mijo, okay? You take all the money you make from your after school job, every single penny, and you save it. Mama’s got this.”
But sometimes, she doesn’t. And Miles knows that she wants to be strong for him. For them. But it takes two, he knows that as well, so he helps out anyway.
And with prayers that they’re not short— Rio counts everything in the rent jar towards the end of the month, and a string of celebratory whoops and hollers will always sound from her room when she realizes they surprisingly have some extra cash that’ll allow her to take some days off and relax for once, and maybe even do something fun together. He’ll listen from his room with a knowing smile, more than happy to let his contributions remain undisclosed to affirm her efforts of providing for them the best she can. With her energy so depleted from how demanding her job is, she’s never suspected it was him discreetly assisting, and chalked it up to her forgetting how much she’d mindlessly dropped in there after each paycheck.

Prompt if you like?
Bobby and Athena spot Buck & Tommy on a date, and notice how happy and smiley they are with each other.
Oh thanks for this - i am a sucker for outsider POV's! I hope you like it!
---
"Now why have you brought me here?" Athena asked, linking her arm through Bobby's. "It's not my birthday or our anniversary."
"Can't I just take my beautiful wife out for a nice dinner? Somewhere we haven't been before?" Bobby replied. "This place got good reviews. Apparently the pizza is really good."
"And since when are you such a big pizza fan that you'll drive all the way over here?"
Bobby smiled.
"I'm just happy we're both alive and well and get to enjoy our time together. After the cruise and the fire I'm not taking any of that for granted anymore"
Athena gave his arm a squeeze. The past few months had been a lot.
"And that includes dinner at Hollywood's oldest Italian restaurant?" she asked, reading the awning on the front of the building.
"Yeah why not. Everything is more or less back to normal now, I think we deserve a night out on the town. They have live music too. Maybe I'll even get a beautiful lady to dance with me." Bobby said and twirled her around under his arm before walking into the restaurant.
The place wasn't too busy and a waitress showed them to their table and handed them their menus.
They ordered and sat back to people watch for a while as they waited for their food to arrive.
The atmosphere was nice, the house band was playing something jazzy, and they were enjoying themselves just catching up and talking about their days.
Bobby was in the middle of telling a story about one of the 118's recent calls when he noticed Athena's attention was no longer on him.
"Am I boring you? Has Hen told you this story already?"
"Hmm? Oh no, no... just... how did you say you found this place again?"
"Trusty google. And I think either Chim or Eddie mentioned it once."
"Or Buck?"
"Possibly." Bobby shrugged. "Why?"
"Because..." Athena trailed off and Bobby followed her line of sight.
He didn't see anything in particular that could remind her of Buck, and he was just about to ask her what she meant, when he saw the man in question sitting at a table, smiling brightly at someone who had their back turned towards them.
He was pretty sure he knew who that person was.
"Is that Tommy with Buck?" Athena asked.
"I think so. I think they're getting pretty serious."
"Tommy used to be at the 118 wasn't he? I remember Hen mentioning him from time to time. What's he like?"
"He's good people, Athena. Don't worry. He's good for Buck. They're good for each other." Bobby reached across the table and squeezed her hand. "I haven't seen Buck this happy in... well... ever I think."
Athena didn't really reply, just kept watching Buck and Tommy.
They had apparently been there longer than her and Bobby because they were sharing a dessert.
She watched Buck blush as Tommy fed him a bite and get up slightly to lean across the table to kiss him.
He looked happy. Content. Comfortable. In love.
"Do you want to go over and say hi?" Bobby asked her.
On the other side of the restaurant a waitress handed Buck and Tommy their bill and Athena smiled to herself watching them play-fight over who would get to pay.
"And crash their date?" she shook her head. "Let them enjoy their night."
Apparently Buck had won the battle and he triumphantly handed the waitress his card.
As they got up and headed towards the door a few minutes later, she noticed Tommy putting a hand on the small of Buck's back and gently steering him past the other customers and tables.
unfortunately or fortunately, she wasn't sure, Buck spotted them and dragged Tommy over to their table.
"Cap! Athena! What are you guys doing here?"
"Same thing as us I think, babe." Tommy teased and Athena mouthed "babe" at Bobby while the two of them were distracted.
"Yeah, it's date night." Bobby told them. "We're treating ourselves to a nice dinner instead of take out and reality TV."
"Wait, is your kitchen not finished yet? I can cook for you. I'll make a few dishes and drop them off and you can freeze them and.."
"Buck, it's fine. Our kitchen is fine. We're just enjoying living our lives."
"Which might not have happened if it wasn't for you." Athena told Tommy, noticing how the hand from his back, now had found its way to Buck's hip.
"It was a team effort." He deflected. "One I'm glad had a happy ending."
"I'll drink to that." Bobby raised his glass at the two men.
Tommy smiled and turned to Buck.
"We should get going or we'll miss the movie."
"The only thing we'd miss is the first fifteen minutes of commercials." Buck replied with a grin, clearly a common argument between the two.
"And the trailers." Tommy argued. "I don't want to miss those."
Buck playfully rolled his eyes.
"We gotta go cap or my date will complain about missing the trailers the whole time."
Bobby laughed.
"You two enjoy the rest of your night." he told them and the two of them said their goodbyes and left.
Athena watched Buck grab Tommy's hand as they walked toward the exit and smiled.
She might not know Tommy that well yet, but she could tell the two of them were absolutely smitten with each other.
"So does he pass the test?" Bobby teased but Athena decided not to take the bait.
"Yeah." she nodded. "You're right. He's good people."

Sam had another vision; one involving Dean killing some dude strapped to a chair. Apparently, the dude had been begging, saying, “It’s not in me!”
‘What’s not in him, though? A demon? THE demon?’ you thought as he relayed his story.
“Well, I’m sure he had good reason,” you told Sam when he was finished.
“Well, I sure hope so—”
“What does that mean?” Dean grunted.
Sam didn’t reply.
“I mean, I'm not gonna waste an innocent man,” he scoffed.
Sam raised his eyebrows at his brother.
“He wouldn’t, Sam,” you stated, your tone warning.
“I never said he would!”
“Sure seemed implied,” you commented.
“Look, we don't know what it is,” sighed Sam. “But whatever it is, that guy in the chair's a part of it. So let's find him, and see what's what.”
“Fine,” Dean said.
“Fine,” said Sam.
The rest of the drive to Crater Lake, Oregon, was done in silence.
***
You pulled into the small town of Rivergrove along the main strip of small businesses and homely apartment complexes. Most of the shops almost looked like wooden cabins, and you approached a man sitting under one of the wooden overhangs cleaning a rifle.
“Morning,” Dean called.
“Good morning. Can I help you?” He turned to you.
“Yeah.” Dean pulled out his badge. “Uh, Billy Gibbons, Frank Beard, Kymberly Herrin. U.S. Marshals.”
The man furrowed his brows. “What’s this about?”
“We're looking for someone,” he answered.
“A young man, early twenties,” added Sam. “He'd have a— a thin scar right below his hairline.”
The man seemed surprised. “What’d he do?”
“Well, nothing. We're actually looking for someone else, but we think this young man could help us,” Sam replied.
“Yeah, he's not in any kind of trouble or anything; well, not yet,” Dean chuckled. He looked down at the intricate tattoo on the man’s forearm. “I think maybe you know who he is… Master Sergeant.” He smiled. “My dad was in the Corps, he was a Corporal.”
“What company?” the man asked.
“Echo-2-1,” Dean replied, smiling proudly.
Sam got back to business. “So, can you help us?”
The man hesitated before talking again. “Duane Tanner's got a scar like that. But I know him. Good kid, keeps his nose clean.”
Dean nodded. “Oh, I'm sure he does. Um. You know where he lives?”
“With his family, up Aspen Way.”
“Thank you.”
You bumped into a telephone pole as you and the brothers headed back to the car. You looked down at it, and something caught your eye. There was a single word etched into the pole: “CROATOAN.” You brushed your fingers over the etching. “Guys, look.”
“Croatoan?” Dean read.
“Yeah.”
Dean looked at you blankly.
Sam gave him a look. “Roanoke? Lost colony? Ring a bell? Dean, did you pay any attention in history class?”
“Yeah! Shots heard 'round the world, How bills become laws…” Dean trailed off.
“That's not school, that's Schoolhouse Rock,” Sam scoffed.
Dean rolled his eyes. “Whatever.”
“Anywho,” you cut back in. “Roanoke was one of the first English colonies— late 1500s-ish?”
“Oh yeah, yeah, I do remember that,” Dean said excitedly. “The only thing they left behind was a single word carved in a tree. Croatoan.”
“Yeah. There were theories,” you continued. “Native American raid, disease, famine, but nobody really knows what happened. They were all just… gone. Wiped out overnight.”
Dean cocked his head to the side. “You don't think that's what's going on here, I mean—”
Sam cut him off with a sigh. “Whatever I saw in my head, it sure wasn't good. But what do you think could do that?”
“Well, I mean, like I said, all of your weirdo visions are always tied to the Yellow-Eyed Demon somehow, so…” Dean trailed off.
“We should get help. Bobby, uh, Ellen maybe?” Sam suggested.
“Good idea,” you said. You pulled out your phone to call Bobby, only to discover you had no signal. “Great. No signal.”
The two brothers took their phones out as well.
“Huh, me neither,” said Sam.
“Nada,” Dean stated.
“Payphone, maybe?” you tried, leading the boys over to one. Unfortunately for you, all you heard was a beeping to signify no signal. “Line's dead.” You hung up the phone.
“I'll tell you one thing. If I was gonna massacre a town, that'd be my first step,” Dean noted, pointing at the payphone.
***
You pulled up in front of a homely, slightly tacky cabin. Sam rapped his knuckles against the door, and almost immediately, a teenage boy opened it.
“Yeah?” he grinned.
Dean flashed his badge. “We're looking for Duane Tanner; he lives here, right?”
“Yeah, he's my brother,” the boy nodded.
“Can we talk to him?”
He sucked in air through his teeth. “Oh, he's not here right now.”
“Do you know where he is?” Dean pressed.
“Yeah, he went on a fishing trip up by Roslyn Lake.”
“Your parents home?” Sam questioned.
“Yeah, they're inside,” the boy nodded.
“Jake?” a voice called. ‘Oh, that’s his name.’ “Who is it?”
Dean spoke as the owner of the voice appeared. “Hi, U.S. Marshals, sir, we're looking for your son Duane.”
Mr. Tanner seemed confused. “Wh— Why? He's not in trouble, is he?”
“No, no, no, no. We just need to ask him a couple of routine questions, that's all.” Dean flashed a winning smile.
“When's he due back from his trip?” questioned Sam.
“I'm not sure.”
“Well, maybe your wife knows.”
The man’s eerie smile was far too cheerful for the current conversation. “No, I don't know, she's not here right now.”
You cocked your head to the side. “Your son said she was.”
Jake seemed caught. “Did I?”
This whole thing was weirding you the hell out.
“She's getting groceries,” Mr. Tanner smiled. “So, when Duane gets back, there's a number where he can get a hold of you?”
“Oh, no,” Dean said. “We'll just check in with you later.”
The three of you turned back down the steps, and you waited to talk until you heard the door close. “That was kind of creepy, right? Little too… Stepford?”
“Big time,” Dean replied.
You headed around the back of the house, ducking down to avoid being seen by the Tanners. You caught sight of a poor woman with mussed up blonde hair tied to a chair sweating and crying. You cocked your gun as Dean kicked in the door, and you quickly shot Mr. Tanner in the chest when he tried to charge you with a knife. You turned to Sam and Dean who were over by the window.
“He got away,” Dean grunted, referencing Jake who had leapt out of the window.
“Great,” you sighed. You turned your attention back to the woman in the chair and noticed a profusely bleeding wound. “Dean, start the car. Sam, get her to the backseat. I’m gonna patch her up as best I can til we can get to a doctor.”
The boys nodded and rushed to do your bidding. You rushed to the trunk of the Impala and pulled out your makeshift first aid kit— a collection of wraps, bandages, antiseptics, antibiotics, sutures, sewing needles, thread, and painkillers you gathered from random pharmacies and kept in a small, vintage tin box with roses etched into the lid and occasionally refilled. You hurriedly got in the backseat with the woman, and you kept her conscious by asking her questions about herself. You learned her name was Beverly, and that her two sons, Duane and Jake, went fishing and hunting together all the time. Her first sign that something was wrong was that Jake didn’t go with his brother on the trip. After her hiccups mourning the death of her husband— for which you profusely apologized to her— and hissing in pain as you kept pressure on her wound, you finally arrived at a small clinic on the main stretch of road.
You held the pressure on her shoulder as you led her into the clinic, yelling, “Doctor! We need a doctor!”
A young woman in a pleasant floral jacket and cute pink headband came rushing out, concerned. “Mrs. Tanner, what happened?” she asked the woman on your shoulder.
“She’s been attacked,” you explained, hurrying past her.
“Dr. Lee!” the young woman called.
The doctor instructed you to head down the hallway into an examination room. You gently placed her down on the bed, and Beverly moaned as you shifted position around her to continue holding her shoulder. The doctor came into the room moments later followed by Sam and Dean, who stood at the doorway. You filled the doctor in on the medical history you’d gathered from Mrs. Tanner on the way to the clinic, and the doctor immediately set to work stitching the wound. You tossed the tattered and bloodstained jacket Mrs. Tanner had been wearing into the garbage and washed your hands up to your elbows.
Beverly began to explain what happened to the doctor, who seemed shocked. “Wait, you said Jake helped him? Your son Jake?” the doctor asked.
Beverly nodded. “They beat me. Tied me up.”
“I don't believe it,” the young nurse breathed out.
“Beverly… do you have any idea why they would act this way? Any history of chemical dependency?” Dr. Lee questioned.
“No, of course not. I don't know why. One minute they were my husband and my son. And the next, they had the devil in them.” Beverly shook as she spoke.
You walked out into the hallway with Sam and Dean.
“Those guys were whacked out of their gourds,” Dean commented.
“Ya think?” you snorted. “And what I don’t understand is, if they already beat and subdued her, why put that giant gash on her shoulder? That wound was fresh; like it happened this morning. Everything else seemed a few days old, at least.”
“Yeah, this whole thing is weird, man,” Sam added. “What do you guys think? Multiple demons, mass possession?”
“If it is a possession there could be more. I mean, God knows how many, it could be like a friggin' Shriner convention,” Dean grumbled. “Of course, that's one way to wipe out a town, you take it from the inside.”
“I don't know, man. We didn't see any of the demon smoke with Mr. Tanner, or any of the other usual signs,” Sam reminded his brother.
“Well, whatever. Something turned him into a monster. And you know if you woulda taken out the other one, there'd be one less to worry about,” the older brother chided.
Sam huffed, “I'm sorry, alright? I hesitated, Dean, it was a kid!”
“Boys, relax!” you scolded, standing between them.
Dean looked over your head at Sam. “No, it was an ‘it’. Not the best time for a bleeding heart, Sam.”
“Dean,” you murmured harshly.
Dr. Lee stalked out of the lab, heels clicking loudly on the floor to let the brothers know it was time to stop arguing.
“How is she?” you asked her.
“Terrible! What the hell happened out there?” she questioned.
“We don't know,” Dean shook his head.
“Yeah? Well, you just killed my next door neighbor.” Dr. Lee crossed her arms over her chest.
“I didn’t have a choice,” you told her. “All of us would’ve been dead if I hadn’t.”
“Maybe so, but we need the county Sheriff. I need the coroner —”
Sam cut her off. “Phones are down.”
“I know, I tried. Tell me you have a police radio in the car?” Dr. Lee pleaded.
“Yeah, we do. But it crapped out just like everything else,” Sam said.
The blonde ran a hand through her hair and began to pace. “I don't understand what is happening.”
“How far is it to the next town?” you asked her.
“It's about forty miles down to Sidewinder.”
“Alright, I'm gonna go down there, see if I can find some help. You’re coming with me.” He looked down at you before clapping Sam on the shoulder. “My partner 'll stick around, keep you guys safe.”
“Safe from what?” Dr. Lee questioned pointedly.
“We'll get back to you on that,” Dean responded. He then led you away from Sam and Dr. Lee and out to the Impala.
“What’d you do with Mr. Tanner?” you asked him.
“He’s in the lab somewhere. Man’s heavier than he looks,” he joked as he began to drive off.
“Dean, I killed him,” you mourned. “He was just a guy. Now, his two sons don’t have a father. He was a person.”
“(Y/N), since when are you all morally gray?” Dean questioned gently. His usual bite behind his sarcasm was missing. “I get it, but he wasn’t ‘just a guy’ anymore.”
“I know that,” you said. “That’s what I’m starting to get worried about. Normally, I wouldn’t think twice. Vamps used to be people. Hell, one of my first vamp kills was my parents. I don’t know what’s happening to me, man. I don’t hesitate— hell no— but… I don’t know.”
“Hey, I get it.” He reached across the seat and grabbed your hand. “I’m a straight shooter, too. I’m in the same place you are.”
You scooched across the bench seat and kept your hand entwined with Deans, playing with his fingers. You leaned your head on his shoulder, and he pulled your hand up to his lips and kissed it, eyes never leaving the road.
“Things keep getting weirder, dude. Since when do we second-guess?” You tried to muster a laugh, but your heart wasn’t in it.
“I know. This whole thing is spinnin’ out of our control. I hate it,” he admitted.
“Yeah, me, too,” you murmured. “I wish we could’ve met under normal circumstances.”
He chuckled. “Hm. Me, too.”
The rest of the drive was spent hand in hand and silent. You continued to play with Dean’s fingers and kept your head on his shoulder. Only when you saw two cars blocking the road and men standing with their large guns drawn did you pull your head up. Dean’s grip on your hand tightened— whether to reassure you or himself, you weren’t sure— as he rolled to a stop. You noticed one of the men in front of you was the teenager from the Tanner house, Jake. He stopped the car, frowning. Something banged on the roof of the car, making both you and Dean jump. His hand never left yours, and he shifted his body toward the man leaning down into the window almost protectively in front of you. “Oh-ho-ho. Hey,” Dean awkwardly laughed.
“Sorry. Road's closed,” the man at the driver’s side window grinned.
“Yeah, I can see that. What's up?” Dean questioned.
“Quarantine,” was his simple reply.
“Quarantine? Why?” you asked. Dean stiffened and tried to hide you more with his body when you spoke.
“Don't know,” the man tsked. “Something going around out there.”
“Uh-huh. Who told you that?” Dean asked, sass lying just below the surface of his tone.
The man’s face was blank when he responded. “County Sheriff.”
“Is he here?”
“No. He called. Say, why don't you get out of the car and we'll talk a little?”
Dean laughed nervously. “Well, you are a handsome devil, but I don't swing that way, sorry.”
“I'd sure appreciate it if you got out of the car, just for a quick minute.” The man’s stoicism was beginning to drop, and the anger bubbling just below the surface was becoming visible.
“Yeah, I'll bet you would.” Dean released your hand to quickly throw the car in reverse. The man grabbed his collar and held on for dear life as you tried your best to pry his fingers off. Thankfully, Dean swung the car around, finally cutting the man loose, and sped away. The sound of guns firing at the car filled your ears, but none of the bullets seemed to be hitting their desired target.
“You okay?” Dean asked you, throwing you a worried look.
“Yeah,” you heaved. “You?”
“Peachy,” he grunted.
Suddenly, the ex-military man you first met in town stepped in the path of the Impala, brandishing a rifle.
Dean slammed on his brakes, and you put your hands on the dashboard to steady yourself.
“Hands where I can see 'em!” the man yelled.
“Son of a—” Dean grumbled, holding his hands up. You did the same.
“Get out of the car! Out of the car!” he commanded.
You slowly slid across the seat to the passenger’s side door as Dean started climbing out. You took the opportunity of your hands being hidden behind the door to quickly whip out your handgun.
“Drop the gun!” you ordered.
“Put it down, now!” the man yelled back at you. “Are y’all part of 'em?!”
“No!” Dean answered. “Are you?”
“No!”
“You could be lying!” Dean protested.
“So could you!”
“Alright! Alright,” you broke in. “We could do this all day, alright? Let's just, uh, let's take it easy before we kill each other.”
The sergeant relaxed slightly. “What's going on with everybody?”
“I don't know,” you admitted.
“My neighbor— Mr. Rogers, he—”
Dean interrupted the man. “You've got a neighbor named Mr. Rogers?”
“Not anymore,” the man responded gruffly. “He came at me with a hatchet. I put him down. He's not the only one, I mean, it's happening to everyone.”
“We’re heading over to the Doc's place, there's still some people left,” Dean explained.
“No, no way. I'm getting the hell out,” the older man stated.
“There's no way out, they got the bridge covered, now come on,” the older Winchester said.
“I don't believe you,” the man replied.
“Fine, stay here, be my guest.” It was then you noticed Dean was pointing a handgun at the man, too, who hesitated before walking over to the backseat of the Impala. He swapped his rifle for a handgun as he stooped down into the backseat, and you kept your gun trained on him over the back of your seat. The older man kept his gun aimed at you, but his eyes would frantically flick to Dean every now and again.
Dean looked between you and the man and put his gun away to be able to drive back to the clinic. “Well, this ought to be a relaxing drive.”
You pinned the sergeant to his spot in the backseat with a hard glare and your gun on him. He returned your glare and pointed gun the whole way to the clinic. Despite your aching arms, you refused to falter. “What’s your name?” you asked him, still on your guard.
“Mark.”
“Mark. Nice to meet you, Mark,” you smiled despite your situation.
Dean slowed to a stop in front of the clinic, and you and Mark mutually agreed to relax your guns.
“Sammy? Open up!” Dean banged on the door to the clinic.
Sam appeared at the glass a few moments later and allowed you inside. You kept your gun cocked and in your hand but pointed at the floor.
“Did you guys, uh, get to a phone?” Sam questioned, looking between the three guns you were all brandishing.
“Road block.” Dean turned to Mark. “I'm gonna have a word. Doc's inside.”
Mark looked between the three of you, hesitating, before heading inside.
“What's going on out there, guys?” Sam asked.
“Man, I don't know, I feel like Chuck Heston in the Omega Man. I mean, Sarge is the only sane person I could find. What are we dealing with, do you know?” Dean questioned.
“Yeah. Doc thinks it's a virus.”
Dean snorted. “Okay, great. What do you think?”
“I think she's right.”
“Really?” Your eyebrows shot up in surprise.
“Really,” Sam answered. “And I think the infected are trying to infect others with blood-to-blood contact. Oh, but it gets better. The, uh, the virus? Leaves traces of sulfur in the blood.”
“Cool. Demonic virus,” you deadpanned.
“Yeah, more like demonic germ warfare,” Sam added.  “At least it explains why I've been having visions.”
“It's like a Biblical plague,” noted Dean.
“Yeah. You don't know how right you are, Dean. I've been poring through Dad's journal, found something about the Roanoke colony,” Sam began. “Dad always had a theory about Croatoan. He thought it was a demon's name. Sometimes known as Deva or sometimes Resheph. A demon of plague and pestilence.”
Dean laughed humorlessly. “Well, that— that's terrific. Why here, why now?”
“I have no idea. But Dean, who knows how far this thing can spread? We gotta get out of here, we gotta warn people—”
Before any of you could speak, Mark called from the back of the clinic, “They've got one! In here!”
Dean entered the room behind Sam. “What do you mean?” he asked Mark.
“The wife. She's infected,” Sam explained.
“We've gotta take care of this. We can't just leave her in there. My neighbors, they were strong. The longer we wait, the stronger she'll get,” Mark urged.
You hesitated, but only for a moment, before brushing past Sam and Dean into the lab with your gun drawn.
“Whoa!” the sweet nurse from earlier exclaimed. “You're gonna kill Beverly Tanner?”
“Doctor, could there be any treatment? Some kind of cure for this?” Sam pleaded.
“Can you cure it?” You turned toward Dr. Lee.
“For God's sake, I don't even know what ‘it’ is!” she cried.
“I told you, it's just a matter of time before she breaks through,” Mark told you.
“Just leave her in there, you can't shoot her like an animal!” the young nurse said.
You slowly walked over to the door of the utility room Beverly was being held in. You, Dean, and Mark held your guns steady on the door. Sam carefully opened it to reveal Beverly huddled on the floor in a corner, crying into her knees. She jumped as you approached. “Mark, what are you doing? Mark, it's, it's them!” She pointed at you, Dean, and Sam, who stood over your shoulder. “They locked me in here, they— they tried to kill me! They're infected, not me! Please, Mark! You've known me all your life! Please!”
“You sure she's one of 'em?” Dean asked, looking at his brother.
Sam nodded. Mark pulled back, looking distraught, and you took the opportunity to step forward.
In an attempt to hear as few of her cries for mercy as possible, you quickly fired one shot square between her eyes. Guilt immediately clawed at your throat, and you thought you could throw up. You stowed your gun and crouched beside her crumpled form. You moved her into a less disturbing configuration, laying her on her back with her arms crossed over her chest. You closed her paralyzed, open eyes and brushed through her hair with your fingers. With the back of your hand, you wiped your own eyes and stood, leaving the room and shutting the door behind you.
Choked up, you pushed past a concerned Sam and Dean and headed out to the car. You grabbed your duffel bag to have some reason for going outside from the trunk when you heard a sound from down the street: a car approaching. Your breath caught, and you ducked behind the wall of the clinic’s entrance; back pressed to it. You peeked out briefly to see Jake was the one driving the car with the man who had tried to kill you and Dean earlier. Soundlessly, you slipped back inside the building and turned the lights at the entrance off.
You locked both the door to the entrance and the door to the waiting room behind you, hurriedly pulling down the shades and turning off as many unnecessary lights as possible. You turned the light off in the waiting room and stormed into the lab where everyone was huddled together. You pulled down the shades behind Dr. Lee wordlessly.
“(Y/N/N)?” Sam asked gently. “What’s wrong?”
“They’re here. Everybody, get yourself a weapon from my bag if you know how to use one. Don’t grab one, get injured, and then get infected, got it?” you ordered.
Sam nodded and grabbed your bag from you. He threw you your bowie knife and pulled a hunting knife from the duffel for himself.
The young nurse, who you learned was named Pam, dropped a vial of blood, and she screamed. “Oh god! Is there any on me? Am I okay?”
Dr. Lee tried to calm her down. “You're clean, you're okay.”
“Why are we staying here? Please, let's just go!” Pam cried.
“No, we can't because those things are everywhere,” Dean stated firmly.
Pam began to sink to the floor. “Oh god!—”
“Hey, shh, shh,” Dr. Lee told her.
Sam turned to you and Dean who stood together by the lab’s entrance. “She's right about one thing,” he said just loud enough for the two of you to hear. “We can't stay here. We've gotta get out of here, get to the Roadhouse? Somewhere. Let people know what's coming.”
“Yeah, good point,” Dean nodded. “Night of the Living Dead didn't exactly end pretty.”
“Well, I'm not sure we've got a choice,” Mark cut in. “Lots of folks up here are good with rifles— even with all your hardware we're- we're easy targets. So unless you've got some explosives…” he trailed off.
You looked up at the shelf of medical supplies and turned to Sam. “You thinkin’ what I’m thinkin’?”
“Yeah, actually.” He grabbed a bottle of potassium chloride and waved it at you.
“I’m lost, what’s happening here?” Dean questioned. “Speak, nerds.”
You deadpanned at him. “Potassium chlorate bombs. I’ve gotta figure out a way to ionize the chloride and get some oxygen in it; otherwise, this’ll never—”
Your explanation was cut off by a loud banging on the door.
“Hey! Let me in, let me in! Please!” the voice called as you approached the door.
“It's Duane Tanner!” Mark announced. He opened the door to let him in, and you grabbed your gun in your jacket immediately.
“Thank god,” Duane breathed out, walking into the clinic.
Mark locked the door behind him. “Duane, you okay?”
Dean quietly asked Sam, “That's the guy that I, uh—” he clicked his tongue.
Sam nodded, seeming shaken.
“Who else is in here?” Duane went to step into the lab, but Dean grabbed his arm.
“Whoa, whoa, whoa, easy there, chief,” he said. “Hey Doc! Give Duane a good once-over, would you?”
Dr. Lee led your group into the lab. “Pam?”
Pam seemed to understand what that meant and moved to gather medical supplies.
“Who are you?” Duane asked Dean.
“Never mind who I am. Doc.”
Dr. Lee nodded nervously. “Yeah, okay.”
“Duane. Where you been?” Mark asked softly.
“On a fishing trip up by Roslyn. I came back this afternoon. I— I saw Roger McGill being dragged out of his house by people we know! They started cutting him with knives! I ran, I've been hiding in the woods ever since. Has anybody seen my mom and dad?”
Your heart squeezed in your chest and bile rose in your throat.
“Sweetheart, it’s okay,” Dean whispered to you.
You could barely hear him over your heart pounding against your ribcage. You then noticed a deep gash in Duane’s left leg. “He’s bleeding.”
“Where'd you get that?” Dean interrogated.
“I was running, I must have tripped.” Duane’s cool tone was making it difficult to read whether he was infected or genuinely had no idea what was going on.
“Tie him up, there's rope in there, the older brother ordered. You complied and dug the rope out of the supply closet.
“Wait—” Duane said, attempting to stand.
“Sit down!” Dean commanded, pointing his gun at Duane.
“I'm sorry, Duane, he's right,” Mark agreed. “We've gotta be careful.”
“Careful? About what?”
“Did they bleed on you?” Dean questioned, not answering the young man’s question.
“No, what the hell? No!” Duane frantically answered.
“Doc? Any way to know for sure, any test?” Sam questioned. You could tell he was trying to deescalate the situation before his vision came true.
Dr. Lee sighed. “I've studied Beverly's bloodwork backwards and forwards.”
“My mom!” Duane cried.
Dr. Lee continued. “It took three hours for the virus to incubate. The sulfur didn't appear in the blood until then, so… no, there'd be no way of knowing. Not until after Duane turns.”
Sam looked over to his brother. “Dean, I gotta talk to you. Now.”
Dean looked over to you, and you nodded, standing up from where you’d tied Duane to the chair he was sitting in. You drew your gun and trained it on him while the brothers stepped out into the hall.
Dean reappeared a minute or so later.
“Where’s Sam?” you asked him.
He didn’t answer you. He simply cocked his gun and looked past you at Duane. Pam and Dr. Lee startled to their feet, chests heaving as they looked between Dean and Duane.
“No, you're not gonna—” Duane heaved. “No, no, I swear it's not in me!”
“Oh God. We're all gonna die,” Pam cried.
“Maybe he's telling the truth,” Mark tried.
“No, he's not him, not anymore.”
“Stop it! Ask her, ask the doctor! It's not in me!” Duane pleaded.
Dr. Lee shook her head and hesitantly looked at Dean. “I… I can’t tell.”
Duane began to sob. “Please, don't. Don't, please. I swear, it's not in me, it's not in me, I swear, I— I swear it's not in me. No, don't.”
Dean seemed to get choked up, too. “I got no choice.”
You stared at him, eyes almost pleading him not to pull the trigger. However, you would also respect his choice if he did; you knew the risks. Dean trembled, hesitating, and finally lowered the gun. “Dammit,” he muttered, running a hand through his hair.
He left the room, and you followed. Dean let Sam out of the room he’d apparently locked his younger brother in wordlessly and kept stalking down the hall. Sam simply looked after him for a moment before turning back to the lab, but you followed Dean further.
He turned into a dark exam room at the end of the hall. You did so as well, making sure the curtains were drawn as tightly as possible before you flicked on the desk lamp. Dean sat in a chair while you sat in another, facing him. Neither of you said a word for a moment.
“What made you stop?” you asked him.
He hesitated before answering. “Sam,” he replied simply. “And you.”
Your breath caught at his admission. “Me?” you asked, just loud enough for him to hear.
He nodded, unable to meet your gaze.
“Why?” you asked softly.
“Couldn’t let you watch me do that,” he muttered. “And… I want you to see me how I see you.”
“What do you mean?” you asked.
“I mean— You just— You remind me that there’s good out there. In all this crap. You make me wanna be better,” he admitted, gaze still pointed to the floor.
You reached over and tilted his chin to face you with your index finger, forcing him to look at you. “Dean—”
He cut you off by surging forward to crush his lips to yours. You sighed into the kiss, winding your hands around his neck and threading your fingers through his hair. He cupped your chin with one hand and grabbed your waist with the other. You kissed once, then again, then one final time before simply resting your foreheads against each other’s. You nudged his nose with yours, eyes still closed, and he stroked circles on your hip with his thumb.
The two of you were broken apart by the sound of a scream and two shots being fired off. You barely shared a look before sprinting toward the sound with your guns drawn.
“It’s Sam,” Mark told you. “He’s infected.”
Your jaw went slack at the sight of Sam on the floor with an open wound on his chest and Pam lying dead on the floor beside him.
“Oh, god,” you breathed out, turning to see Dean completely shocked and terrified.
*** Your group had Sam tied to a chair with a bandage over his wound. Dean was angry, and Sam seemed defeated. Your heart broke for both brothers and for the fact that you were gonna lose an amazing friend soon.
“Nobody is shooting my brother,” Dean stated firmly.
Duane argued, “He isn't gonna be your brother much longer. You said it yourself.”
“Nobody is shooting anyone!” you shouted.
“He was gonna shoot me!” Duane gestured toward Dean.
“You don't shut your pie-hole, I still might!” Dean grunted.
Sam’s sad voice caught everyone’s attention. “Dean, they're right. I'm infected; just give me the gun and I'll do it myself.”
“Fuck that,” Dean scoffed.
“Dean, I'm not gonna become one of those things,” Sam pleaded.
“Sam, we've still got some time—”
Mark cut Dean off. “Time for what? Look, I understand he's your brother, and I'm sorry, I am. But we gotta take care of this.” He pulled out his gun.
“I'm gonna say this one time— you make a move on him, you'll be dead before you hit the ground. You understand me? Do I make myself clear?!” Dean growled.
Mark’s face was set in hard lines. “Then what are we supposed to do?!”
Dean tossed Mark his kets. “Get the hell out of here, that's what. Take my car. You've got the explosives, there's an arsenal in there. You two go with him. You've got enough firepower to handle anything now. (Y/N), you go with them.”
“Dean, no!” you said. “I’m not leaving you!”
“Sweetheart, you have to—”
“No!”
“Guys, no. No. Go with them. This is your only chance!” Sam cried.
Dean turned to his younger brother. “You're not gonna get rid of me that easy.”
Mark chimed back in. “No, he's right. Come with us.”
Dean just stared at him.
“Okay, it's your funeral.” He led Duane and Dr. Lee out the door.
“Thank you, for everything,” Dr. Lee told you as she left.
“Don’t mention it,” you said halfheartedly.
She shut the door behind you, and Sam began to cry.
You were repeatedly surprised by Dean’s sense of play and slight immaturity at the grimmest of moments. “Wish we had a deck of cards, or a foosball table or something.”
“Don’t do this,” Sam pleaded. “Just get the hell out of here.”
“He’s right, (Y/N), you should leave,” Dean tired.
You crossed your arms and spoke with authority despite your soft tone. “Dean, we’ve discussed this already. I’m not going anywhere without you.”
“Give me my gun and leave,” Sam begged.
“For the last time, Sam. No,” Dean stated.
Sam slammed his fists against his chair. “This is the dumbest thing you've ever done.”
“Oh, I don't know about that. Remember that waitress in Tampa?” Dean shuddered.
“Dean, I'm sick. It's over for me. It doesn't have to be for you two,” Sam sobbed. “You can keep going.”
“Who says I want to?” Dean admitted.
“What?” you and Sam breathed out.
Dean pulled his handgun out of his waistband and put it on the file cabinet behind him. “I'm tired, Sam. I'm tired of this job, this life… this weight on my shoulders, man. I'm tired of it.”
Sam scoffed. “So, what, so you're just going to give up? You're just gonna lay down and die? Look, Dean, I know this stuff with Dad has—”
“You're wrong. It's not about Dad. I mean, part of it is, sure, but…” he trailed off.
“What is it about?” Sam questioned.
A knock at the door broke the tense silence settled over the room. “You'd better come see this,” Dr. Lee called through the door.
You quickly untied Sam and brought him out to where Dr. Lee, Dean, Mark, and Duane were already gathered.
“There's no one. Not anywhere. They've all just… vanished,” Dr. Lee explained.
“Croatoan,” you realized, looking over at the telephone pole opposite you.
***
Miraculously, the virus didn’t incubate in Sam’s blood. Strangely, when Dr. Lee looked back at the Tanner samples, the sulfur was gone, too. Confused and slightly uneasy, you and the brothers packed up the Impala.
“Hey, the Sarge and I are getting the hell out of here, heading south. You should come,” Duane suggested to Dr. Lee.
“I'd better get over to Sidewinder, get the authorities up here. If they'll believe me. Take care,” she told them.
Mark waved to the three of you as well as Dr. Lee.
“What about him?” Dean pointed to his brother.
“He's going to be fine. No signs of infection,” she grinned.
You turned to Sam.
“Hey, don't look at me. I got no clue,” he said.
“I swear, I'm gonna lose sleep over this one. I mean, why here, why now? And where the hell did everybody go? It's like they just fuckin’ melted,” Dean griped.
“Why was I immune?” Sam wondered aloud.
“Yeah. You know what? That's a good question. You know, I'm already starting to feel like this is the one that got away.” Dean walked around to the driver’s side of the car and pulled away from the town. His words hung ominously over the car for the remainder of your drive.

You lived on the Cut, but you knew your situation was far better than most of your friends.
While you were by no means a Kook, your family had enough money to be comfortable. Sure, it wasn't a beach mansion with 10 bedrooms, 8 baths, and a decked-out pool - but it was more than enough.
Your parents had full-time jobs that paid the bills, put food on the table, and gave you a roof over your head. Most importantly, they could comfortably afford Costco executive memberships for both.
At first, they were skeptical about paying so much for a membership fee, but when they saw the annual 2% rewards on qualified Costco purchases - they were sold.
The only Costco on the island was in Kitty Hawk, which was about a 15-minute drive without traffic. Because of your parents' schedules, the only times they had time were on the weekends. They always took you with them, of course. Weekends were the best part of the week, not because you got out of school but because you got to go to Costco.
Your parents made it so fun, too! Costco was your own little amusement park - your parents let you ride in the shopping cart as you waved to fellow shoppers, your family tried each and every sample cart dispersed throughout the store, and you got to have a giant slice of pizza and soda from the food court!
Not only that, but the people at the exit would always draw a balloon on the receipt after they checked the cart!
The moment you were able to get your driver's license, you wanted to get a membership, too. You paid for it with the money you saved up from years of babysitting, working at the Kook Country Club, and even helping out with the Wreck.
You loved the store so much. Even when the Pogues would ask you to join them on the weekends, you told them you couldn't go because you had to go shopping with your parents.
Finally, JJ (your amazingly sweet, sexy, funny, wonderful boyfriend who you had a crush on since the sixth grade) wanted to find out what was so dang special about this "eXCluSivE" warehouse store that it meant he had to be kept away from his (out-of-his-league, gorgeous, smart, sunshine smiles) girl (who he's been in love with since the third grade).
Luckily, your dad had a job that was gonna take up the entire weekend. Your mom and you could have gone, but your dad was the heavy lifter of the family - you two needed him for the real heavy stuff.
That's where JJ comes in!
You and JJ were lying on the hammock the afternoon before the trip when you asked him if he could join you and your mom to Costco because they needed help loading stuff into the house afterward.
"It's nothing too crazy, but mom's been getting a lot of night shifts lately, and I don't want her to strain herself more than she already has to. I'll treat you to whatever you want at the food court!" What kind of heartless monster would JJ have to be to refuse? God, he wanted to smush your cheeks between his palms and kiss every part of your face from then till the rapture. Besides, your folks have been so good to him since he was a tot. Which is pretty much exactly what he did. "Don't worry, pretty mama; papa J'll get it done."
...Listen, he still thinks it's weird your parents fork over so much money just to shop at this one store when there's a perfectly good Bobby Heyward on the Cut. Buuuuut, he'll go along with anything you do if it means he gets to see that 1000-megawatt smile you shine his way.
The next day, you and your mom pick JJ from the Chateau, and JJ's never seen you so excited, ever. You're practically hopping like a little bunny, and he would've pulled you onto his lap if your mom wasn't there.
"I can't wait for you to see it! You're going to love it! Everyone's so nice, and the food there is so cheap, you'll never want to leave." JJ couldn't help but affectionately roll his eyes at your excitement. Anyone else, he'd think they'd lost their marbles or hit their joint too much - but for you, it was nothing short of adorable. "Baby," he kissed your cheek. "S'just a store - ain't gonna be Disney."
Tumblr media
...He was wrong...he was sooooo wrong. JJ's jaw fucking dropped at the sight of the massive warehouse since your mom pulled into the parking lot, all the way to when they entered the store when she pulled out her card for security to check.
You had to physically shut his mouth out of fear he'd eat a bug.
JJ was starin' at everything like he was at Disney, and he really might as well have been. He begged your mom if it was alright if they could walk in every aisle to see it all. Your mom raised a brow before seeing the absolutely adoring expression you had on your boyfriend.
How could you help yourself? He looked so cute, all excited!
She agreed, and immediately, JJ went to the electronics sections and plopped down at the TV with the biggest screen and the best graphics he'd ever seen. From there, he found the section in the beginning where the coupon and sale items were located and immediately gunned for the discount toothpaste and razors.
"Baby! They give you a pack of 30 here! "...I don't think your peach fuzz counts. And do you even brush your teeth every day?" "Uh, 'scuse me - I will for these prices. And don't think I don't know how many of these bad boys you n' Kie go through each month. Your cooch will never be growing out of its jungle with these bad boys."
The food and household sections are his own damn paradise. He tries every sample and goes back for more, and the workers treat him like he's a freaking golden retriever puppy.
"Babe, babe, babe - this place gives you two loaves for ONE SET! ONE SET! LOOK AT THE CAKES AND MUFFINS! Oh shi- we need to bring Pope. He'll lose his rocks for this."
Sees the prices for the Kirkland products and immediately insists that anything else is "boUgIE."
"5 BUCKS FOR A PACK OF 40?!" "It's 3.99 if you're a member."
Immediately goes and loads two packs into the cart. You warn him not to let Kie know that you and your family voluntarily bought plastic water bottles - he does not care.
"(Y/N), she can crucify me upside down n' shit; we're not missing out on this deal."
He sees the $5 rotisserie chickens and physically stops the cart. You slam into his back and barely have enough time to grab onto his shirt to stop him from getting another cart and filling it up with chickens.
"We don't need so many chickens!" "THINK OF ALL THE STUFF YOU CAN MAKE!" "We'll get one for you for now and come back another time!" "But-" "I'll even let you sit in the cart!"
Finally, you and your mom got everything from the shopping list (along with a few other things upon JJ's request), and you three could finally head out for the checkout.
Just when JJ thought he couldn't love Costco more, he finally saw his heaven...the Costco food court.
$2 slices of pizza...$1.50 for a hot dog, and a free refill soda combo...$3 smoothies...$2 soft serves...$9.95 18-INCH PEPPERONI PIZZAS????
...Fuck the Wreck, this was officially the best restaurant on the whole fucking island.
Your mom gives the green light for you and him to get a table, and JJ practically jumps on the first empty table (there were still grease stains and ketchup spills from the previous seaters) and sets his stuff down. His giant 6' body is leaning over smaller frame as he watches you press the buttons on the order kiosk.
"Two hot dogs...one pepperoni - no, make that two - no, three - fuck it, get the whole pie...holy shit, they got churros?!"
After you pay and grab the receipt, you two wait by the window for your food as JJ is buzzing with the biggest smile you've seen on him since you two got together. A couple of onlookers are staring at the two of you - some with skeptical expressions, others warmly chuckling at his excitement.
When your number is called, the mountain of food you ordered requires only the most delicate and careful balancing acts for you two to get back to the table where your mom was. Thankfully, she cleaned the table and got the napkins before you all sat down. She volunteered to fill the sodas - Coke for you and her, Mountain Dew for JJ.
The noises he makes while eating are borderline pornographic and make everyone around your immediate vicinity uncomfortable. Parents, grandmas, kids, and employees are giving your table the BIGGEST side eyes; meanwhile, you're just eatin' your pizza and sippin' your soda with the straightest poker face. Occasionally, you turn around and stare at your blonde menace with the most lovestruck expression in the history of ever, and you're just so happy to be the one to give him this experience.
While he's on the john, you snuck away and bought the prettiest bouquet you found in your price range. Afterward, you went back to the food court kiosk and sorted a chocolate soft-serve cup just for him! The look of pure, unadulterated adoration on his face when you gave him the bouquet alone made you wanna cry tears of joy, and when you showed him the ice cream cup - he immediately picked you up and spun you in a circle with everyone watching.
Your mom was 100% recording the whole thing and sent it to your dad.
At the exit, you asked if the lady could draw a balloon. She looked over, confused before she saw your golden retriever puppy of a boyfriend and even drew a smiley face on the balloon. It goes without saying JJ keeps the receipt in his wallet.
Literally the happiest person on the Cut, he's skippin' everywhere, all day. Nothing can bring him down, not even the fucking high prices Mike Carerra charges for one fucking drink at the Wreck.
Keeps the receipt so he can brag about how much your family saved to the other Pogues. John B and Pope do not believe him until they scroll through all dozens of pictures in JJ's camera roll of every glorious thing he saw at Costco.
...They beg you to include them next time.

Cake Batter ~B Floyd x Fem! Reader
Summary: How Bob comes home to an expected mess, both of his girlfriend and the dinner.
Warnings: Just fluff and some language.
Tumblr media
You practically danced around the kitchen, making sure all the different things you had going were turning out the way you planned. You had sent Bob off to work after a morning of rolling around in bed, apologizing that he had to spend his birthday with fighter pilots and not you in lingerie. Then, you had showered and gotten dressed and rushed off to the store. You were determined to make his favorite meal, all from scratch, so you searched the store for every ingredient needed. You never claimed to be a chef, but you were going to try your hardest to make the best dish possible for the man you’ve been in love with for six years.
Music played in the background as you danced around the kitchen, mixing things in this bowl, seasoning vegetables in that one. You truly believed there was a method to your madness.
Then, slowly, it started falling apart.
Your cornbread burns in the oven, the roast you started early somehow still isn’t tender, you forgot to add the carrots in to simmer with the broth and you start questioning if the lettuce for a side salad is rotten or not.
Panic starts to set in when the clock inches closer to the time Bob said he’d be home. You turn the heat up in the slow cooker, then try and focus on making his birthday cake instead.
While pulling another mixing bowl down, you get lost in thought. Hands wiping at your apron, you huff at the remembrance of your families doubt. They make countless jokes about all the faults you’ve been through over the years. Bleaching your laundry, locking keys in the car, forgetting to pay the water bill, and most of all, soiling every meal in some way.
It’s like you’re a bad omen when it comes to every task an adult should complete successfully.
Your father once said the real reason Bobby didn’t pop the question was because he was scared of having a wife who’d accidentally poison him.
You shake yourself free from that absurd claim, then go back to your measurements.
How much flour did you put in already? Was that too much sugar?
You shrug, humming to yourself as you turn to the fridge and retrieve some eggs.
Cracking them open, you drop half the shells in the batter, making you curse and fish them out with a spoon. Whisking away, you don’t see the initial spark of the outlet where the slow cooker is plugged into, but when you smell something odd, you see the flame coming from the wall.
You gasp and shout, hastily setting the mixing bowl down, it teeters on the edge of the counter.
You grab a towel, trying to throw it over the fire, this is when you really begin to panic. The flame burns your hand, making you cry out but continue to smother it until it extinguishes. Tears well in your eyes from the pain, but when you hear the crash of the bowl and turn to see the cake batter splatter everywhere on the floor, you cry with defeat.
What do you do now?
You’ve ruined it all.
You immediately grab a wet rag and sink to the mess, trying to wipe it up. Your hair falls in your face, tears fall fiercely.
As far as your dearest Bobby goes, he pulls into the driveway, relieved he is finally home. His key turns in the door, and he expects you to be reading on the couch, maybe watching a movie. He pictures you greeting him with a kiss, telling him about dinner reservations you made maybe. What he doesn’t envision is the scene unfolding as he comes into his small house.
“Honey?” He calls, clicking off the stereo. Immediately he hears the sound of your cries. Panic floods him.
He follows the sound into the kitchen, a brisk pace about him. There, he finds you on the floor, wiping up a mess, covered in cake batter, face red, loose hair falling against your damp cheeks.
“What happened?” He asks, and your eyes lift to him with pure sadness. You speak but your words are sobbing and broken. “I-I was making dinner and then the-the cornbread burned because I left it in too long while chopping vegetables and I forgot the carrots and I put too much flour in the cake and then the kitchen caught on fire-”
“Fire?” He panics, looking around, sure enough there’s a large scorch mark on the wall where the outlet is.
“Mhm.” You nod, getting to your feet. “And I didn’t know what to do- why don’t we have a fire extinguisher? And then the batter fell and made a mess and I was trying to clean it up before you came home and saw but I wasn’t fast enough and now it’s all ruined!”
He comes forward, not caring that he’s stepping in the residue of batter. He holds your shoulders. “Hey, it’s okay, just breathe.” He shushes, but you can’t even look at him.
“I ruined it, it’s not okay! I-I had a plan, I was determined but I fucked it up.”
His arms are wrapping around you, his hand on the back of your head, he’s whispering to you to calm down, that everything’s okay.
“I’m sorry, Bobby.” You cry into his shoulder.
“It was an accident, I’m not mad at you.” He says, pulling you back. He holds your face between his hands, his thumbs wiping away the tears that come. “Just breathe, you didn’t ruin nothing, okay?”
You shut your eyes, nodding. Your hands go to hold his wrists, but you wince at the pain. His eyes widen. “What is it, sweetheart?”
“I burned myself.” You sniffle, lifting your hand to show him.
Bob pulls you to the sink, holding your wound under cold water to give you some relief. “It’s just been a rough day, huh?” He asks, not in a mocking tone. He’s so utterly genuine, you want to cry all over again because he’s too perfect for you.
“I wanted you to feel special, I was going to master your favorite meal and it was going to be great.” You say, feeling defeated.
“I believe you, and I bet it was gonna be great, baby.” He says, grabbing a towel and wrapping your hand.
As he guides you away, lifting you to sit on the counter top, he kisses your fingers before going to grab the first aid kit.
You feel dumb, it was his birthday and yet he was talking care of you.
He gently rubs some Vaseline over the burn, then wraps it with a bandage. “See? All better, and the world didn’t end.” He smiles at you.
You shake your head. “I’d make a terrible wife.” You say, looking down at your feet.
Bob’s brows furrow, not liking the way you talk about yourself. “Hey…” He says, rubbing your knee. “Who says that, huh?”
“Me. My family.” You admit, wiping your face.
“Well, that’s a silly thing to say, isn’t it?” He asks, coming to stand between your legs. His finger lifts your jaw, forcing your head up to look at him. “One bad meal doesn’t matter.”
“I am a terrible cook, I over season, I burn, I make a mess. I can’t even cook a frozen pizza.” You say, and he pauses.
He can’t deny it, but he won’t say that.
“You’ll get better with time. Besides, I can cook so it’s fine.” He pushes your hair back, smiling.
“I’m cursed, Bobby, that’s why you don’t want to marry me.” You huff, looking into his big blue eyes that squint a little at your accusation. “I never said I didn’t wanna marry ‘yuh.” He says.
“But-”
“But nothin’. I’d marry you tomorrow if it was up to me, honey, but I want to make sure we are settled in every aspect before I make you my wife. It has nothing to do with whatever curse you think you have. You ain’t got no curse, you’re perfect.” He means every word, cradling your head with his gentle hand.
Slowly, you nod. “I’m sorry your birthday wasn’t better.”
He pulls you from the counter. “I came home to you, my birthday was great.”
His sideways smile makes the corners of your lips lift, and suddenly you’re leaning into him, kissing him deeply. Bob grips your hips, holding you to him as he groans at the fever of your mouth.
After a moment, he pulls back. “Let’s clean up and then we’ll go out to eat, okay?”
You nod, kissing his cheek. “Okay.”
All this mess over some cake batter.

Insatiable young Elvis 🚫🍟
Tumblr media Tumblr media
Elvis was still dating Dixie at that time and they often "double dated" with Scotty and Bobbie. One of the places they went was a drive-in on Park Avenue where they could sit outside and eat watermelon. "Elvis and Scotty would start spitting seeds to see who could spit them furthest," says Bobbie. After shows, they often went out together to eat. Usually Bobbie was the only one who had any money. Her 9-to-5 at Sears wasn't glamorous, but it did pay on a regular basis. "When they played at the Eagle's Nest, they didn't get paid until they went to the union," she says. "Elvis never had any money. We'd go out to eat and we had to buy his burger and milshake. One night he wanted another milshake. He asked Scotty if he could have one. Scotty said he would have to ask me. I was the only one who got paid." Once Elvis had cleaned his plate, he hand a tendency to munch off the plates of those around him. It was Evelyn Black [Bill Black's wife] who discovered, quite by accident, the secret to protecting her meal from Elvis' wandering fingers. "We stopped once to get a sandwich and some french fries, and I put ketchup on my potatoes - you know so I could dip them," says Evelyn. "Elvis would get a potato off my place, and I noticed he always got one that didn't have ketchup on it. From then on, I learned to put ketchup on my fries or else Elvis would eat them all."
Excerpt: "That's Alright, Elvis: The Untold Story of Elvis' First Guitarist and Manager, Scotty Moore" by Scotty as told to James Dickerson (1997). Chapter 4 - July 1954: Three Days That Shook the World.
------------------------------------------------------------------------------
Note: Friends, I have two lengthy articles I've written myself on all the things about Elvis' eating habits that I could find so far. I haven't published them yet because I'm a somewhat recent Elvis fan and I know that's much more to find out there in books yet but let me know if you're interested in reading those pieces of information I already have.
Anyway, this ketchup thing made me laugh. Those facts are dated from circa 1954.

彡☆ 2005          19:36PM
‘This job is honestly ass’  I said to my most common customer, and closest friend, Sofi. It was true, I hated my job, it was a fucking shithole, I mean it was a dingy bar in the rough parts of Detroit, a little girl’s dream clearly.
‘Aye (name) don’t be so silly, it pays the bills, and plus, you get a lot of guys working here.’ She wasn’t wrong, I mean it did pay the bills after all but the amount of guys that I didn’t want? Uncountable.
‘I know Sof’, but they’re all ugly most of the time, plus, when they’re that pissed out of their minds, ‘no’ doesn’t compute easy, they got determination I’ll say that. Gets me a few tips I suppose.’ I laughed, cleaning the nearby table where Sofi sat. ‘Speaking of guys, can’t believe you’re seeing that Angel Mercer again!’ I asked, sitting next to her and nudging her shoulder.
‘I don’t like the way you said ‘Again’ but at least I have a man. Though, how old are you now?’ She asked, smiling at the ground when she answered about Angel, absolutely smitten, is the only words I could describe her.
‘Twentyyy... one?’ I questioned myself as I pulled out my ID, just double checking I was actually 21.
‘You really think that checking your ID is going to help? How many fake IDs did you have when you were 17 to get cigarettes?’ Me and Sofi go back to when I was 17 and freshly moved to America, she lived in the apartment next to me and we’d been best friends since she welcomed me into the new apartment.
‘Shut up girl, this is a real one, and I am right I’m 21.’ I laughed, smacking my ID on the table.
‘Okay okay, anywho, Angel has a brother, Jack who’s the same age as you, and he got shot recently, he’s getting out of hospital today and a little birdie told me him and his brothers are coming here in an hour or so to celebrate.’ She suggested, walking over to the bar.
‘Oh yeah? Well from what you’ve told me the birdie is actually quite big.’ I smirk as I pour myself a pint from the tap, Sofi hit me on my arm, telling me to shut up in Spanish. I love Sofi but she loves to overshare about her sex life, but it’s fun to mess with her about it.
…彡☆      19:54PM
A few moments passed, as me and Sofi just talked about random things, about how crazy it was that Victor Sweet had finally been killed, what Sofi wanted to do career wise etc. When all of a sudden, a bunch of loud men burst through the door, as I recognise a very familiar face.
‘Jerry!’
‘(Name)! What’s goin’ on baby?’ He said as he approached the bar, politely shaking my hand, Jerry was like a big brother to me, always nice and fair.
‘Nothin’ much, your wife know you here? I can call her right now if she don’t.’
‘Nah she knows, I’m truthful to my lady, and seeing as I’m so truthful, can we get a few rounds free?’
I laughed and nodded saying as long as I got tipped I’d give them whatever.
‘Bullshit Jerry, we all keep secrets here.’ A bloke in leather, with a goatee sort of thing going on says, laughing and hitting his back.
‘Man shut the fuck up before I woop yo’ white ass. (Name), these are my brothers Bobby, Jack and Angel, I guess you’re already acquainted with Angel here.’
‘Yeah man, it’s hard not to know who Angel is when all I hear in my apartment is those two getting it on.’ I say, lighting a cigarette whilst directioning my hand to Sofi and Angel.
Then I looked at Jack, and all I thought was ‘Damn he’s fine’.
‘So you lovely ladies want tables or are you gonna keep me company and sit at the bar?’
‘I think the guys are alright with sitting at the bar, right guys?’ Jerry said, asking his brothers, they all nodded and agreed as they took seats at the bar.
‘Can I get a beer?’ The one who I assumed was Bobby, asked.
‘Can you be specific, Guiness? Heineken? A pint? Half-pint? And I don’t know maybe a please?’ I chuckled, directioning to the amount of beers there were to choose from
‘She had you on that one Bobby, she’s very passionate about her alcohol.’ Angel said.
‘And why’s that, you an alcoholic or somethin?’
‘No, I don’t know if you can tell from the accent but it’s just from being English really.’ I could see Jack’s eyebrows raise slightly, he was really cute.
‘Ah, I don’t know man just give me a bottle of Guiness.’
‘Please?’
‘Please.’
…彡☆           20:20PM
About half an hour passed before I finally talked to Jack, I slid down the bar, making my way to where he sat, leaving the rest of the brothers and Sofi to do whatever.
‘You’re Jack I take it?’
‘Yeah and you’re.. (name)?’
‘Indeed it is, what drink you want Jackie?’
‘I don’t mind really, can I get a cigarette? The hospital wouldn’t let me bring ‘em in.’ He laughed, god damn his laugh. I’ve known this boy for 45 minutes and I’m whipped
‘Yeah sure and I’m sorry to hear that you got shot by the way, you ‘re lucky you survived love.’ I could see him the try to hide the fact me calling him love got a reaction out of him, it’s not particularly uncommon for me to call customers love, but it’s usually older customers, just out of respect, though for him? I just said it to get a reaction.
‘Thanks, how long you been working at the bar?’
‘Not long really, few months? I’ve only been in America for a couple of years, I think four years.’ Passing him a cigarette and a lighter whilst taking a puff of my own.
‘Ah cool, how come you moved?’
‘I don’t know really, I suppose to just be with my mum, seeing as she wanted to just get away.’
‘Your parents split?’
‘Yeah but it was probably the best choice they collectively made.’ I laughed, pouring him a drink.
‘Fair enough, you do anything else other than be the only good-looking bar tender in Detroit?’ Um sir?
‘Don’t flatter me Jackie, but yeah actually, I play the bass here and there.’
…彡☆ Jack POV  …彡☆
‘Don’t flatter me Jackie...’ Man, I haven’t even known her that long and I can’t help but want to take her out.
‘Ah bass? That’s cool man, I play the guitar, before I moved back to Detroit I was actually in a band, believe it or not.’ Flicking my cigarette ash in the nearby ashtray, when I had an idea. I asked her for a pen and she handed me the one in her shirt pocket.
‘I certainly believe it, but anywho I can’t concentrate on your pretty face all night, I’ll serve some other customers and I’ll be back soon.’ She said winking at me, I felt my face go so warm, Sofi definitely knew I was going red, and to my misfortune, so did Bobby.
‘Woah Jackie, did the bullet knock the fairy out of you or what?!’
‘Shut up man, you probably haven’t been flirted with in the last 10 years.’
‘Sure fairy whatever you say.’
…彡☆    22:17PM     your pov
‘Okay boys we’re gonna leave now, because for some reason I got designated driver duty so come on! You too Sofi vámanos!’ Jerry yelled, dragging Sofi and Angel by the collars of their shirts, I laughed to myself as all of the brothers continued to leave in a drunken mess, the night was full of brotherly love, teasing and intense flirting between me and Jack, as he had more drinks he got more bold with how he spoke.
I was absolutely whipped, and as Jack left, he gave me a cigarette and said,
‘Don’t light it right away.’ with a drunken but genuine smile, I responded, ‘Don’t worry Jackie I won’t, see you soon.’ and I pecked him on the cheek as I left for the room where I kept my coat to close up my shift, taking the cigarette with me.
Later in the night I was certain there was something I had forgotten to do, and then it hit me, I probably was meant to look at the cigarette or something, and then I thought, ‘Where’s the cigarette?’, and I trudged to my sofa and grabbed my coat, luckily the cig was still in my pocket.
I twizzled it in my fingers, when I saw numbers written on one side, and a note saying, ‘Call me - Jackie’ with a heart next to it on the other, that smooth motherfucker. I unravelled the cigarette, putting the nicotine in a spare pouch and attached the note to my fridge with a magnet with the intentions to call him in the morning.
…彡☆     The End!
Please let me know if you liked this, if so I might write a part 2 to it or just continue to write Jack mercer fics seeing as there just aren’t enough! Love ya x

Tumblr media
Chapter 19
There were two months of what Melody could only describe as pure bliss.  Work was exciting and fulfilling.  She was loving her home life.  She was getting more time to have a life outside of paying bills and was making time for hanging out with friends and starting new hobbies.  She’d been going out on group dates with her, Steve, Bucky, Bobbi, Matthew, and Sam.  They were quickly becoming a new family group and she hoped they all worked out because she’d hate to lose those dinners.  Best of all, things between her and Steve were calm and it felt like they’d reached some new milestone in the relationship that she couldn’t quite name.  It was more domestic and yet felt deeper.  They had started to talk about their futures more.  It wasn't intentional sit-down and talks about getting married and having kids and what religion they planned to raise them.  It was more that they casually dropped those things into other conversations like they were inevitable.  Steve had mentioned wanting to take her to Europe sometime.  She had said something about what they’d kids would look like.  They’d both casually mentioned parts of town they’d like to move to together.
Melody had never felt so on the same page as someone before.  Every relationship she’d had up until Steve, she’d felt the ticking clock counting down to the end of the relationship.  She did not doubt that Steve was for keeps and she’d debate whether or not to take him home to meet her parents.
It was a tricky situation.  Her relationship with her parents had been strained since she and Bobbi came out.  They still talked but it was much more shallow than it used to be.  They never asked if she was seeing anyone and conversations about Bobbi were usually fairly shallow.
“I love that you are mad at them on my behalf,” Bobbi said when Melody brought the topic up with her.  “But if you want to take Steve back to meet your parents, you should do it.  You know they love you, and I even know they still care about me.  But they’re just having trouble coming to terms with the fact that we’re not who they thought we were.  I plan to take Bucky back home, at the very least to meet Stella, Isla, and Ro.  Hopefully, my Mom and Dad will want to meet him too.  I live in hope.”
“Yeah, but I thought they were people that they showed they weren't too,” Melody said.  “Why do I have to be the bigger person? It’s their job to accept me how I am.  Not the other way around.”
“Think about this then,” she said.  “What if you and Steve end up getting married?  Would you want that to happen without them there?”
She huffed and nodded.  “No.  I guess I’d want them to be there.”
“So do the trip.  Let Steve meet them,” she said.  “You don’t have to go easy on them about the stuff you’re mad about.  You can make sure they know that you’re bi and I’m trans and they need to get used to it.  But you aren’t going to mend any fences here ignoring them,” she said.  “Besides, if anyone could get through to them, it’s Captain freaking America.”
It had left Melody with a lot to think about and she’d decided that maybe before taking Steve home they needed a deep conversation about what they wanted in their lives.
She had met Steve for lunch at the diner they’d met for their first interview, though this time she was dressed far more casually than she had been back then.  He’d gotten there before her and when she’d come in and she’d caught his eye, his whole face lit up.  Melody wondered if he’d always look at her like that.  It made her feel like the most important person on the planet.
He stood before she got to the table and kissed her cheek, his hand running down her arm into her hand.  “You look beautiful,” he said.
She chuckled. “I’m in shorts and a T-shirt.  You’re just a flatterer.”
“Or maybe you’re always beautiful,” he said playfully.
She laughed, taking his hand and kissing his palm.  “You are so smooth.”
“That’s what everyone always says about me,” Steve joked, running his hand along her jaw.
Melody picked up the menu and began to browse it.  “You know what I’m going to have today?” Steve asked.
She looked up at him over the menu.  “Pancakes?” she said hopefully.
“Well, no,” he said. “I want to get a Reuben. But - I will get it with a bowl of soup and a slice of pie à la mode.”
“Look at you,” Melody said.  “Sugar at lunchtime.”
“I know,” he said. “I’ll be all hyped up and then crash and need a long nap.”
Melody broke down into silent giggles, her shoulders shaking. “What an easy job you must have to be able to take naps in the afternoon.”
“Oh yeah,” Steve said.  “Piece of cake.  Anyone could do it.”
Melody hid her face as she broke down into laughter. Her leg bumped against his under the table.  He put his hand on hers and squeezed it.  “Do you know what you’re having?” he asked.
“I think I might go with the wild mushroom potato pancakes,” she said.
He smiled at her.  “Well at least one of us is getting the pancakes, even if they’re potato ones.”
“That’s what I thought,” Melody said.
Steve’s eyes flicked over the menu as they waited for the waitress to come over.  After they’d ordered and she took the menu away, he turned his full attention to her.  “I was considering that Thanksgiving lunch.  I think more out of novelty than anything.  Where else can you get whole turkey legs like that?”
“The only things I can think of are Disney and Universal Studios,” Melody said.
Steve looked startled at her answer.  “Really?”
“Yeah, they sell huge drumsticks so you can feel like a caveman,” she answered and mimed taking a bite of one.
He laughed.  “Is it weird that I’m more tempted to go to a theme park because of that than I would have been otherwise?”
“Well yes, because you don’t like eating in front of strangers,” she said.
Steve laughed hard, his hand going to his chest.  “That’s true.  Maybe all I needed was the ability to eat turkey legs like a caveman.”
Warmth bloomed in Melody’s chest and she linked her fingers with his under the table.  She wished they were sitting on the same side of the booth because she wanted to snuggle right into his side.  Seeing Steve as relaxed and happy as this felt like a blessing reserved just for her.
“Speaking of Thanksgiving,” she said.  “Did you have plans?”
“Not really,” he said.  “I sometimes go down and spend it with Sam and his sister.  Sometimes the team spends it together.  A lot of us don’t have families, so it just depends on if anyone else takes pity on us.  Though I was hoping I’d spend it with you this year.”
She wrinkled her nose at him playfully.  “Really?  I was hoping that too.”
“I figured that’s why you asked.  Would it be with Bobbi too?” he asked.  “You, me, Bucky, and Bobbi.  That could be fun.”
“No Sam and Matt?” she asked.
“Well, Sam will be going to his sister,” Steve said. “But don’t tell Matthew, I think Sam wants to take him home to meet her.”
“Oh, I hope Mattie can do it,” she said. “He is so into Sam.”
“That feeling is very mutual,” Steve said.
She leaned over the table, taking Steve’s hands.  “I’m so into you,” she said.
He smiled and leaned into her.  “That feeling is mutual too,” he said, pecking her lips.
They were interrupted by the waitress with their coffees.  They sat back in their seats and Steve thanked her as she filled their cups.  She blushed a little and mumbled something about it being her pleasure before leaving them alone again.
“So was it with Bobbi?” he asked.
“Well…” she said. “Maybe.  I just wanted to float the idea of taking you home to meet my parents.”
Steve blinked at her, the surprise written all over his features.  “I thought you were estranged.”
“Well, yes.  Kind of.  We don’t talk a lot and when we do it’s very shallow,” she said.  “But they are my family, and I think we’re serious.  Right?  We’re in this for the long term?”
Steve looked at her confused.  “Yes.  Of course.  I didn’t even know that was a question.”
“I just want to make sure we’re on the same page, because going home is stressful.  I want you to meet them if you want to meet them.  But also to introduce them to the person I plan to spend the rest of my life with.  So I just want to make sure that’s where you think we’re going too,” she explained.  Steve opened his mouth to say something and she held up her hand to stop him.  “I know you love me.  And this isn’t about pressuring you.  I don’t expect this conversation to end and for you to start looking for engagement rings.  I just want to make sure that we have all our cards on the table so that in a few years we don’t end up finding out that our ideas of having kids are completely different and it’s a deal breaker.”
A soft smile crossed Steve’s face and he reached over, taking her hands again.  “Wow, you have been overthinking this a lot haven’t you.”
“Well, here’s the thing,” she said.
The waitress chose that moment to bring over their food.  It took a moment for her to put out the plates and top up their coffees.  She was definitely enjoying her opportunity to talk with Steve.  Not that Melody could fault her.
Steve thanked her and told her everything looked great and once again she blushed before she left them alone.
“She’s really star-struck,” Melody said.
“She’s being very sweet,” he said.  “She’s really trying not to let it affect our experience.  I’ve had people try to insert themselves into my meal.”
She laughed.  “I hope not literally.”
Steve wrinkled his nose and bared his teeth. “God, I hope not too.”
Melody let her laughter taper off as she cut up her potato pancakes and Steve pulled his sandwich closer and tore it in half.  “What were you saying?” Steve asked.  “About why you were overthinking taking me home?”
She sighed and took a bite of her food as she gathered her thoughts again.  “Okay.  I knew Bobbi was trans long before she came out to anyone else.  She was scared of telling her parents.  They’re not conservative… but they were pretty traditional about gender roles.  We were never ever worried about my parents accepting us.  They were always really outspoken about LGBT rights.  So when Bobbi came out, her parents told her they didn’t want her in the house living a lie and corrupting her sisters.  We knew - we didn’t even doubt for a second - that my parents would let her stay with us.  But when we came to ask, there was a lot of stammering and making excuses.  Our moms are really close, that’s why we call each other cousins.  So we thought maybe she didn’t want to do that in case it upset Bobbi’s parents and she’d lose the friendship.  Eventually, Mom settled on them maybe having a point and that Bobbi should think about how she was affecting everyone else.  I got really pissed.  I was so angry at them.  I said that this was who Bobbi was and that she was our family and they needed to accept that about her, and I yelled at them. I asked if they’d feel the same way if I brought home a girlfriend.  They didn’t take that well either.  They said don’t be stupid and that I’d always had boyfriends.  They couldn’t even fathom the thought that I could be bi and told me I was just trying to hurt them and it was just a phase.  I couldn’t believe it.  Bobbi and I went and stayed in our car that night.  Bobbi couldn’t stay in a women's shelter, but she made me stay in one for a couple of nights.  Then found a friend we could couch surf with until college started.”
Steve had listened carefully through the whole story, and he’d taken her hand and held it as she spoke.  “I’m so sorry, honey.  For both of you.  That must have been such a letdown for you.”
She nodded and took a breath.  “So if I bring you home to meet them, it’s going to be a thing.  They’ll think they were right about it being a phase or just me trying to hurt them.”
“So you want to be sure that I’m here for the long run,” he finished for her.  “Well, I can tell you, I think about my future and you’re a part of that.  I do want to get married one day.  I don’t know what you think about that.”
“I think that - if I was in love with someone and they didn’t want to get married, that wouldn’t be a deal breaker, but I would love to get married,” she said.  “And if I think about us in the future, we’re married.”
He smiled and lifted her hand and kissed it.  “Me too.”
They took a moment, just looking at each other.  His gaze was so full of love that it was almost overwhelming.  She leaned over the table and stole a kiss.  His hand went to her cheek, holding her there for a moment longer than she’d intended and when she sat back she smiled at him.
“Where would we live?” she asked.
“I keep picturing us in Brooklyn,” he said. “Is that weird?”
“Well, it’s where you think of as home,” she said.  “So no.  That’s a bit of a move from here though.”
“It is.  Would you do it?” he asked.
“I think so.  If we found somewhere we both liked that we could afford,” she said.  “It’d be a bit of traveling for work, but I think we could handle that.”
“It’d be a nice place to raise kids.  We’d be more likely to be able to afford a place with a yard,” he said.
Melody had her fork halfway to her mouth and her face broke into a huge smile.  “You’ve thought about us having kids?”
He nodded.  “Yeah. I’ve thought about it.  I get scared sometimes.  I feel like the work I do - it doesn’t exactly lend itself to a family life.  But I must want it because I think about it so much.”
“I feel like I could be happy without them,” she said.  “But I do want to be a mom.”
“Yeah,” he said.  “I think that might be a good way to describe how I feel.”
Melody finished up her pancake and took a sip of her coffee.  “Do you want to go to Oregon with me for Thanksgiving and meet my parents?”
“I’d love to,” Steve said.
The waitress came over and topped up their coffees again and when Steve finished his soup and sandwich she brought his pie.  Steve shared it with her and they ate together talking about much less serious topics.  The stress she had felt had melted away and while she knew it would come back later when it fully hit her about the logistics of taking Steve Rogers home to meet her parents, for now, she was just happy to feel so safe where she was with Steve.
Her stress returned much sooner than she’d expected, because when they stepped outside the diner they were immediately surrounded by a wall of press, filming, taking photos, and calling out to them.
It was the first time they’d ever been swarmed by the press.  Up until now, there were just vague rumors they were dating and no one seemed to care.  Melody had spent enough time around celebrities to be used to this level of intense press scrutiny, but this was the first time she’d ever been blindsided by it.  She recognized many of the faces in the crowd, including a couple of the celebrity gossip reporters from the Daily Bugle.  The invasion of privacy from her own workplace made her blood boil.
“Shit,” Steve cursed.  “We were having such a good run.”
He shielded her body, putting his arm around her shoulders and using his bulk to hide her from the cameras, and began to muscle his way through the crowd.  “I’m sorry, honey.  I figured they’d get us one day.  I wonder if it was the waitress who told them.  Maybe she heard us talking about getting married and having kids?”
“Maybe…” Melody said, but she wasn’t so sure.  It was possible of course.  She had been excited that she was serving Steve and it could be that she’d spread the word out of excitement.  Somehow Melody doubted it.  This, she felt, might be her fault.

✨2023 writing round-up✨
I enjoyed seeing @exhuastedpigeon 's write-up and thought I'd post mine :)
I wrote 97k words in 2023. Which is more than I thought! I struggled with finding time to be creative this year. My RL has been such a chaotic ball of stress. But things are getting better, and I think my Muse will be more exited to come out and play this year!
February
bro·ken 32k
This was my favorite story I wrote this year. It’s dark, gritty, and a deep exploration of what would have happened if Eddie and Buck hadn’t meet until the S3 timeline. With both guys at rock-bottom and how they find each other to heal.
.
bro·ken
adjective 1. having been fractured or damaged and no longer in one piece or in working order. 2. having given up all hope; despairing.
Forced to take shady side jobs to pay his bills, Evan Buckley doesn’t think he’s ever seen such rock bottom. Until he meets Eddie Diaz, a man even more desperate and alone. Season 3 AU.
March
Not Today 2k
A coda to the lightning strike that uses those events to explore Eddie’s encounters and emotional understanding of death.
.
Eddie propelled himself up the ladder, shutting off those parts of brain he refused to listen to, only focusing on how fast he could climb, how hard he tried pulling on Buck’s safety line, until finally, he gave in to the only logic he was willing to consider.
What Buck needed; Eddie couldn't provide.
(Eddie and his battles with death and dying)
We’ve Got Fun & Games  7k
I wrote humor? :) It was a great fun to have the 118-taking part in a mini version of the Amazing Race and all the shenanigans that follow during a contest across the city.
.
"Um. You trained for this?” Ravi asked.
Eddie released a long-suffering sigh. "We trained. Every day. For a month.”
Buck could not believe his ears. Did they not grasp the glory of the great adventure before them? He cleared his throat and lowered his voice. “Running across the scorching plains of Africa, bolting down the steep steps of Shanghai, diving straight into synchronized swimming routines with Olympic athletes in Moscow. These are only a few obstacles we might encounter during…The Amazing Race."
Bobby frowned. "This is for charity.”
Buck spread out his arms to encompass the couple hundred people mingling around the park. "And it’s against all the other firehouses in the city. We do have a reputation to uphold."
April
Tick...Tick...Boom 3.6k
A very intense story on the dangers first responders face during a call gone wrong.
.
“Eddie,” Buck warned.
He started to say something else when the door cracked open.
A woman poked her head out, her voice shaking. “Yes?”
“Are you alright ma’am?” Eddie asked.
The question was rhetorical. Blood dripped down her chin from a busted lip, her puffy face framed by the beginnings of two black eyes.
“I’m fine. Is there, um…,” A shadow loomed. Her trembling hand gripped the door frame harder. “How can I help you, officers?”
“We’re with the L.A. Fire Department,” Eddie said, his voice calm. “We really need to come in. It’ll just take a moment.”
The woman glanced behind her, whispering, “I can’t…. I’m trying….”
The shadow retreated.
Eddie stuck his foot under the door, slowly pushing it open as he eased his way inside. “It’s okay. We’re here to help.”
May
We All Fall Down  3.5 k
I wanted more from the finale. Like the skeleton was there, but I needed more details and bit more logic.
.
He’d done this before. Inside the well. Trapped forty feet underground instead of in a tin can, rising water the constant threat.
Eddie stared at the radio, knowing this time there’d be someone on the other end to hear him if he needed to say something. If his time his second chances had finally run out.
He wouldn’t die alone. Not really. His team would be there. Just inches away. He could tell them, tell Buck….
(A nuanced re-working of the events of the episode to satisfy certain wants and needs)
August
Cutting The Ties That Bind 34.K M
I wrote something that wasn’t a hurt/comfort or an angst fest! It had lots of sexual tension, drama, and meaty plot. I love world-building.
.
Evan Buckley was a businessman, he had meetings and deadlines like everyone else. Sometimes he used intimation. While using the very same tactics he was trying to end while converting his family business into legitimate operations was a little hypocritical, it was the results that mattered.
Occasionally, he got threatened, but it was usually all hot air and ego. That all changed the day his breaks were tampered with. Enter Eddie Diaz, security specialist, who was not easily impressed by Buck’s expensive suits or financial conquests. That was okay. Buck enjoyed a challenge.
(The Mafia AU)
November
Follow You Into The Dark  14k
I had a need. I wanted to put both Eddie and Buck in the worst possible situation where they literally had to depend on the other in ways they had never before.
.
Buck kept a firm grip around Eddie’s arm as he was guided down hallways. They’d both experienced something like this before during the Academy: cadet’s exercises where both teammates were blindfolded and forced to depend on the other to escape burning buildings. This wasn’t unlike that experience, except of course this was real and Buck’s freaking eyes were swollen shut and Eddie was concussed and deaf.
(Or a serial arsonist terrorizes the city, plunging Buck and Eddie into a dangerous game of cat and mouse.)

Wet Dreamz (Jake 'Hangman' Seresin X Robert 'Bob' Floyd X Koko)
Tumblr media
Warnings: Sexy Smut, Mentions Of Bisexually, Hint Of Insecurity Bout Dentures, Threesome, Wet Dreams and Viewer Discretion Is Advised 🔞
One night, you and Bobby went to bed after you put Anastasia down for bedtime, y'all went to sleep, so while you sleeping, you been dreaming about no other than: Jake 'Hangman' Seresin (the godfather of your daughter and your best friend). And yes even though it's kinda wrong but you couldn't help that he is a handsome man: gorgeous face, nice body to look at, easy on the eyes, and that southern accent you can't help but fell in love with when you first met him with that charm of his. So while dreaming, you wake up in the bed with no clothes on and it's didn't dom on you that you in Jake's room because of his room is full of Texan stuff (especially his Longhorn jersey and his collection of cowboy hats), so as the door opens, you saw almost all his glory in his boxers standing there while your jaw is dropping:
"Hey, darlin," like what you see?" He has a smirk on his face.
"Yes, yes I do." You still in shocked.
So he crawled into the bed towards you, and he looked into your brown eyes, and you said:
"Jakee" you said to him in quietly manner.
"Tell me what you want, sweets." He has a grin on his features.
Then, you starting to feel something wet is because he makes you shiver the way he talks to you, no other man would.
"Oh, baby, you wet for me, all this time you been thinking about me, so I'm gonna give it to you what you want." And so he starting to kiss you, on the neck, on your breasts and you starting to shaking a little bit, because how he touches you. So right before he goes down on you, your husband is calling your name:
"Koko, Koko, KOKO!!!"
"Huh? Oh shit!" You waking from your sleep, and come to realization that you wet the bed.
"I'm so sorry Bobby, this is my fault, babe." You were embarrassed.
"That okay, hun, I know you didn't mean it." He understands.
"Okay, but hey, I'm gonna check on Ana, alright?"
"All right, my love." He changed the sheets.
So it's morning time, and Bob just already got up and getting ready to go to work, while you is fixing some breakfast for Anastasia and Bobby knows you not yourself this morning so he ask her what on her mind:
"Hey, you all right?" He ask
"Yeah, just lot on my mind, babe that all."
"Well do you wanna talk about it when I come back home?"
"Yes, I would like that."
"Okay, sweet girl, but hey I talk to you later when I'm getting back home, okay? Love you." He kisses you on your forehead and Anastasia's as well.
"Okay, love you too baby."
So, while your husband at work, you doing some cleaning, changing some diapers for Ana, making sure the bills pay, so after you did all that, your mind is still lingering about your sexy dreams about Jake, so you were about text Jake or Bob about your confession but you just decided to wait till Bobby comes home tell him everything. So after your husband did come home from Top Gun, you greeted him with a hug and a kiss on the lips.....
"Honey, I'm home." Bob greeted in the house.
"Hey baby boy, how is work?" You ask him bout his day.
"It's interesting but same, so how yours today?" He asked
"It's was fine, and Anastasia is still sleeping. I'm just fed her."
"Well, that good."
"Yeah, but hey, can we talk since you home now? You ask to talk to him.
"Yeah, sure."
So as y'all two sit down in the kitchen table and you starting to speak:
"Okay, remember I have had an accident in the bed since this morning?"
"Yeah, what about it?" He has a concern on his face.
"Well, I've had a weird dream since last night."
"With who?" He wants to know.
"I'm been having dreams about Jake." You confront him about your confession.
"Since, how long you have them dreams?" He wants to know.
"Since we went to the beach and saw his shirt off." Your voice felt shaky but nervous.
"Why didn't you tell me beforehand?" He concerns.
"Because I'm was scared that you gonna leave and divorce me, and I know it's not right to daydream about another man and thinking about him sexu-"
Bob cuts her off
"Baby, you know, I'm not going anywhere, you know that, right?" He holds both your hands.
"I'm know" you nodded.
So surprisingly enough, Bob got an idea....
"But hey, look, I'm know it's out of our marriage, but I will give you a hall pass for one night only with Jake, but on one condition:"
"Okay, what is it?"
"I'm want to watch just for sexual pleasure."
"Okay, that fair." You agree with the agreement with your husband.
"So you gonna call Jake about our agreement?"
"Yeah, but I'm about to text him now."
"Okay, well, I'm gonna check on Anastasia." He went to the living room.
"Alright."
So after your confession with your husband, you are about to text Jake and ask him to come over tomorrow after work:
Koko: Hey, J, what up?
Jake: Hey, darlin, nothing much. Just got some food, and I'm home now. And what about you?
Koko: Ohh, okay, that what up, nothing much, just chilling, doing mom duties, but hey, are you busy tomorrow after work?
Jake: Ohh, okay, understandable, and no, not really. What up, though?
Koko: Can you come over at the house tomorrow and we can have a talk, please?
Jake: Yeah, sure anything for you, so what time you want me to come?
Koko: Around at 4:50
Jake: Okay, no problem, sweets, see you tomorrow.
Koko: Okay, love you cowboy. 🤠😘
Jake: Love you too darlin'.
Tumblr media
So the following day, while Bobby is at work, you doing your housewife duties as usual, and you just waiting for the time passing by, for both of your men to get off from work, and so when Bobby, and Jake coming from work from Top Gun. You were excited to see both of them...
"Hey guys, how work today?" You greeted and hugged both of them.
"Hey Koko, how is my best friend doing today?" Jake smiles towards you.
"I'm doing fine." You give him a smile back to him.
"And how my beautiful goddaughter lately?" He asks you.
"She is doing well, and she is sleeping right now. But hey, since you are here, can we have a chat outside?"
"Yeah, sure darlin'"
So, y'all two walk outside, just to talk about your confession and you being straightforward about it.....
"Okay, since we are outside now, the reason why I'm asking you to come over since yesterday is because I'm have a confession to tell you." You wanna be honest to him.
"Okay, what is it, sweets?" He wants to know.
"Okay, so I'm been having dreams lately, and it's a weird one, but not with my husband." You talking to him while y'all walking in the neighborhood.
"Who is it?" He has concern on his features.
"You" you confess to him
Then, Jake starts to chuckle at first, and he realizes that Koko wasn't joking.....
"Oh, you really are not joking, aren't you sweets?" He was a little surprised.
"No, so that why I'm didn't tell you nor Bobby at first because I was scared you were not gonna talk to me anymore or whatever."
"Sweetheart, you my best friend, and you know I always gonna be here till the day I die, right?" He hugged you while he comforted you.
"Yeah," you nodded at him.
"So what you gonna do next?" He asks you.
"Well, Bobby, give me a hall pass for one night only."
"For what?" He has confused face.
"To have sex with you." You shrugged.
"Oh wow that different but are you sure you want do this? It's no turning back and you know that sweets, pun intended." He being genuinely honest.
"I'm know that J, and yes I'm do." You stated but you accept the agreement.
"All right, as you wish, so when we gonna do it?" He asked went & where.
"Tomorrow night, at your place at 9:00. And I'm got a babysitter for Ana as well." You tell him a time & a place.
"Okay, that fair, so that it or do you have any more secrets that I would like to know?" He wants to know.
"Well I'm do have one more thing: I'm bisexual by the way and also can you bring me a woman for us for a threesome too, please?" You confess him about your sexual orientation.
"Wow, you are full of surprises, aren't you sweets?" He have a grin on his face.
"Honey, you have no idea and hey what can I say? I'm being me." You have a smirk on your features.
And so, after y'all two have a good talk from walking around the neighborhood, Jake take you back to the house safely because it's getting dark soon, so before he leaves he went inside to see Anastasia briefly, then told Bob that he see him later, and y'all two give each other a hug and then he left to go home.....
Tumblr media
The following night, after y'all got a babysitter for Anastasia, you and Bobby are on the way to Jake's house for a little sexy fun, so after y'all arrived at the place, you is wearing one of your graphic dresses, with your slip-on sneakers on but underneath you have on a lace black bra & panties too as well, just to try your best to look cute. And you knock on the door, immediately he answers the door:
"Hey, I'm glad y'all made it." He greeted you in his southern accent.
"Hey, I know, right? I'm just a little nervous, though, you know?
"Hey, hey, you know I got you, you have nothing to be nervous for, darlin, so come on in and make yourselves at home."
So after y'all two went inside, then you see a beautiful brunette woman with nice curvy hips, and she has on a sexy lingerie that covered her curves just bout right.
"Oh Linda, this is Koko and her husband Bob, guys. This is Linda, whom I'm met at the bar yesterday." He introduced y'all to her.
"It's nice to meet you, and you gorgeous, by the way. " You introduce yourself to her.
"Thank you, it's nice to meet you too also, and you beautiful, by the way."
So, after y'all introduced each other, y'all four went to Jake's bedroom, and y'all bout to start, and before you do, you want to say something to Bobby who is sitting down before he enjoy the show.....
"Hey Bobby, are you gonna be okay, right?"
"Baby, this is gonna be a new experience for me, and trust me, I know Jake is gonna take you the way I do, so just have fun it okay?" He said to you with love.
"Okay, love you, baby boy." You smile to him.
"Love you too." He give you a kiss.
Tumblr media
So it's just the three of y'all standing, and so you decided to step forward to Jake to kiss him before y'all have a mutual respect for each other because y'all friends. So while kissing him, his lips taste like sweet honey because of the way he looks at you like that. And so he starting to undressed you, especially unclasped your bra, the way you standing there naked like that, Jake couldn't help that you look beautiful and the way he touches you is like electricity that no one else will besides your husband.
So Jake climbed up the bed, where you laid at he starting to do foreplay on you like kissing on your neck, kissing on your body, kissing & touching on your breasts, he starting to lick on one of your nipples and you arch your back the way he touched you like it's heaven on earth, "Jakeee" you said to him while you moaning on his name, "you look so gorgeous woman" he said to you in a genuine compliment, "tell me what you want darlin." He cooed, "I'm want you to make love with me", you said to him while you look into his beautiful emerald, but however he looked at you scanning from his green eyes he stop for a minute and asked you "what wrong darlin did I'm do something wrong?"
He asked you because he saw the little sadness on your face , "it's just that am I beautiful to you?" You asked him about your insecurities, "why you ask that, sweetheart?" He asked you with a concern face, "is because I'll have dentures, but I'm not wearing them, so I'm not beautiful without them."
"Sweetheart you're still beautiful with or without them for the moment that I'll first saw you at the bar but however it's was my first time saw you without them for the first time when you gone in labor with Ana. But look at the end of the day. I don't care whether you have dentures or not.
You are still beautiful to me, okay?" He said to you with the most genuine way with a smile on his face that made your heart skip a beat little bit and make your cheeks blush as well too because of his genuine honest opinion. So after hours y'all two looking at each other, you forgot about Linda and your husband.
"Oh shit we forgot about Linda." She fell asleep while we taking sweet time, Bob is sleep too as well, you & him are chuckling at each other that y'all taking too damn long but while y'all still in the bed, so as he kissed your palm then, out of nowhere Jake starting to fingering you in your vagina with that big hand of his and teasing you with his infamous smirk on face in a playful way and you starting to moan the way you saying his name:
"Jakeee I'ma bout t-to, bout to.", "it's okay babygirl cum for me it's alright just cum to my fingers okay?" He said to you in a low but stern voice, after you finally came for him in a loud voice of yours because you can't help it the way you make sound after you climaxed, Linda & Bob just waking up and she said "it's the party still going on?"
"Yes baby, it's still going on, and here you're dessert."
Jake said to her with the lust in his green eyes, so as she climbs to the bed where Jake & Koko at, she starts to kiss on Koko's lips, while she making out with her, she started to touch on her breasts playing with them, while Linda is using her fingers to rubbing on her clit, Jake kissing on her shoulder, it's starting to make Bob more horny than ever, his cock is starting to get hard as a rock while he watching his wife having a threesome with Jake & Linda in the bed.
So after Linda finished her making out sessions with you, the final climax of the night is when you want Jake to come inside you: "okay darlin are you ready for your gift bag?" He said to you with a grin, "yes Jake I'm ready for it." You said to him with a mischievous smirk on your face, "okay sweets", so when he take off his boxers and long be hold that his dick is big but is hard as a rock the way it's look and your jaw drop because it's just you pictured it in your head cause of the dream that you have with him wearing only his boxers and his dick is poking out like that...
So as he climbs back to his bed yall switched sides from the bed so as he laying down resting himself in between your legs making sure you felt comfortable as he put his hands around your wrist making sure you straight though, "okay sweets I'm gonna try to take it nice & slow, but try to make it painless as possible as I'm can, okay?
Now, if you want me to stop: tap my arm, but I just want to make sure you are comfortable with that all." Jake always been a gentleman even though he can be cocky but arrogant sometimes but he still do got that southern gentleman likeable which I'm really like from him plus he would do anything for you because he do have a heart. "Okay I'm trust you Jake" you said to him, he smiled down at you with a kiss on your temple so as he lining himself up to your entrance and you is wrapping your hands on both of his shoulders & back soon he's gently pushing in, you eyes is sneezing almost close the way he put your tip in you. "Ouch." You felt it as he entered you, "Are you okay?" Jake asked, "mmhm, you okay keep going, " you tell him while you mutter, "Little more baby girl, I promise hold on.
"Jake promises you. Once he bottomed out, you whimper, "Hey, hey, look at me. You know I will never hurt you, you know that, right?" He said to you with a promise, "Yeah, I know," you said to him back, "Okay, I'm gonna start moving, alright?", "Okay" you whisper.
As soon he starts his movements, he draws himself out of you as easily as he can before he's can thrust back in. You start groaning more loudly as you wrap an arm around his shoulder as he starts to move his hips around you, the pain feeling slowly transitioning into white flashes of pressure. He's stretched you out with each thrust. But he remains at the same tempo & depth. However, you can feel your insides to start beginning to shake.
"You close babygirl, you are so close," Jake muttered, "Jake I'm bou- bout to" you moan while you trying to found the words to him, "that it sweetie, you wanna come?, you can come I got you". He said to you, so as y'all climaxing, you give into the feeling that soon y'all spilling over the edge as he reaches in between of your pressed bodies and he rubs your clit for added pleasure. Jake growls in your ear as both of you kiss on the lips.
So after y'all done having sex, you, Jake, & Linda are looking at Bob with a concerned face of yours, making sure he is okay. "Bobby, hey baby, are you good, you straight?"
You said to him, "That. was. INCREDIBLE!!!" He said with an exciting shock look on his face, "wow I'm can't believe it's making me more horny after seeing this, though, but anyway, you good baby?"
He asked you, "Yeah, we're good, " you said to him back as you smiled at both of them. "Hey Koko, let me clean you up before you leave, okay?",
"Okay," you nodded, "Well, I'm bout to head out, and thanks for the fun, including you, Koko." Linda said farewell to yall, and she kissed Koko for a goodbye one more time.
So afterwards Jake cleaned you up, as y'all bout to head home Jake bout to tell you something: "hey guys", "mhmm what up love" you said to him, "I'm know y'all bout to go home to check on Ana but would be okay for y'all to stay at my place for the night because it's already getting late and I'm don't want y'all to be out this time of the night though is that okay for yall?" Jake asked y'all, "You okay with it, Bobby?" You nodded, "Yeah, sure that be okay, but how we gonna tell Rooster that we spend the night at Jake's house, they gonna think you cheated on me or else. " Bob worried, knowing the fact he babysitting y'all daughter at the house though. "Don't worry, we tell him that we check in at a hotel for the night, and nobody wouldn't know. Happy 87th Birthday Ronald Grant Browne born 20th August 1937 in Edinburgh, Ronnie is a founder member of The Corries.
Born to John Albert 'Bertie' Browne, a truck driver, and Anne 'Nancy' Browne. He was raised in Edinburgh. Aside from singing, Browne's other abilities are painting, sketching and rugby, having once played as a winger for his secondary school Boroughmuir. He met Roy Williamson on the rugby field, as Williamson had played as a winger also for Boroughmuir's rivals Edinburgh Wanderers.
This led to meeting multi-instrumentalist Bill Smith at Edinburgh College of Art in 1955 and the formation of the Corrie Folk Trio in 1962. The group was expanded the following year with the addition of female singer Paddie Bell. Shortly after releasing three albums in 1965, Bell left to begin a solo career. With the departure of Smith, the following year, Browne and Williamson continued to perform as a duo now known as The Corries.
Browne and Williamson were regular performers on Scottish television shows and movies and in 1983 received an International Film and Television Festival gold award for their Scottish Television series, "The Corries & Other Folk". The 1996 film The Bruce features Browne's rendition of the Williamson-penned Flower of Scotland at the end. Browne appeared in the film playing the role of Maxwell The Minstrel.
Since Williamson's death in 1990, Browne continued to perform and record in the spirit of the Corries. He regularly led the singing of Flower of Scotland, de facto national anthem of Scotland, for the Scotland national rugby and football teams. During his performances, he was known to yell "COME ON!" to the audience during the opening line of the song he was singing and this has often been parodied by the BBC Hogmanay sketch show Only an Excuse?. As of 27 April 2015, Browne announced that due to emotional breakdowns during performances, he has put an end to singing in public.
Browne is now an accomplished portrait artist.
Browne met and fell in love with Patricia Elliott during secondary school, and the two married on 30 June 1959. Together they had two biological children: Gavin John and Lauren Anne Violet and one adopted son: Maurice Walter.
Gavin Browne is the eldest of the three, and has run The Corries Official Website since 1997.
Ronnie and Pat were married for 53 years until Pat died due to cancer in 2012.

Fanfic excerpt/trailer/bite sized bit from/for my fanfic Fallout: A tale of two couriers. I talk more about it in the linked post. TW for graphic depictions of a headshot, and for mentions of enslavement.
Summary. Flynn Investigates Carla’s “disappearance.”
Flynn walked into the Dino-Dee-Light Lobby immediately after Manny’s story. Something wasn’t right. Was Carla really stuck up and prissy? Maybe she might’ve had opinions about Novac’s cuisine and accommodations, but the resentment in Manny’s voice only came when he glanced up at Boone’s room. There was more to Manny and Boone’s relationship. At least on Manny’s side. What exactly the nature of that was he didn’t know, but it wasn’t Carla’s personality that rubbed Manny the wrong way. Especially comparing Ranger Andy’s story. And..there was the story Noonan told. Obviously, Mole men was a side effect of No bark being…himself. But one staying in the lobby? That had merit.
“Oh! If it isn’t one of our two couriers! How can Jeanie May help you dear?” The older lady behind the counter greeted. “Well hey there! Naomi and I are finding everything fine, just had a few itchin’ curiosities I had to scratch about the town.” Jeanie gave a big smile, clearly pleased he was paying the town compliment. “Well I’d be happy to scratch those itches for you dear! What do you wanna know?” “Well, first, I noticed that there’s an open bungalow, that for rent?” Jeanie’s smile remained. “Oh, I’m sorry dear, but those bungalows are more for permanent residents. I’m afraid I can’t just rent it out.” Flynn clicked his tongue and shook his head “shame. Ah well, if we ever get tired of this courier thing, I’ll keep Novac well in mind. It’s a cozy little place.” Jeannie smiled in response, clearly, the way to her good side was paying the town respect. I wonder… Flynn thought to himself. “Well, I’ve got to head out for the night, don’t stay up too late now dearie!” Flynn’s easy smile remained even as the innkeeper left the room, right up until the door closed behind her. Taking a Bobby pin and screwdriver from his courier’s bag, he approached the front desk, and located a safe nestled in the floor.
It wasn’t caps he was looking for. Or NCR dollars. The legion kept paperwork. And if he was right about Jeannie May, and the courier hoped he was wrong…she would want a reminder. Of what happened when someone insulted her little corner of the Mojave. The safe came open with a click, and inside was the expected assortment of caps and NCR bills. Flynn felt a smidgen of relief at the seeming absence of his confirmation, Until the details struck him. Any travelers traveling through Novac would likely be NCR gamblers or caravan merchants. They’d pay with bills. Not caps. So.
Where did she get the caps?
Flynn took another glance at the suspicious currency. Checking the bundled amounts. In the wasteland, 500 cap pouches and thousand cap pouches were marked with loops of string. Two knots for a thousand, one knot for 500. And sure enough, two pouches with those exact amounts respectively sat within. Flynn knew her prices. He knew that even if she had been collecting the odd caps within the timeframe Carla left, she wouldn’t have this much. This was a lump sum payment.
He’d traveled Arizona for years before he freed Naomi. He knew the Legion’s prices for flesh.
This amount was for a child, and one woman.
As Flynn took the blood money from her safe, at the bottom of it, hidden under the pouches, was a folded note. The same one she was reading when he and Naomi first walked in. Reaching inside, The courier read the final nail in Jeannie May’s coffin.
We, the representatives of the Consul Officiorum, have this day bargained and purchased from Jeannie May Crawford of the township of Novac the exclusive rights to ownership and sale of the slave Carla Boone for the sum of one thousand bottle caps, and those of her unborn child for the sum of five hundred bottle caps, the receipt whereof is hereby acknowledged. We warrant the slave and her young to be sound, healthy, and slaves for life. We covenant with the said, Jeannie May Crawford, that we have full power to bargain and sell said slave and her offspring. Payment of an additional five hundred bottle caps will be due pending successful maturation of the fetus, the claim to which shall be guaranteed by possession of this document. M. Scribonius Libo Drusus et al.
-Administrators of M. Licinius Crassus, Consul Officiorum ab Famulatus
Flynn crumpled the letter in his fist, shaking with incandescent rage. “You’ll pay for this…” He snarled.
With a firm knock of her door, Jeannie answered to find the courier standing on her front step. “Hello dear, is there something I can do for you? It’s rather late.” “There’s somethin’ out front of the dinosaur I want you to see, I want your opinion on it. Just a minor concern, honest, but it’s important. I promise!” His smile was still present, but Jeanie couldn’t help but feel that it was…hollow. “Oh…well, if you’re sure. Did you talk to Boone about what it is you wanted to show me?” “Oh sure I did! He said it was somethin’ you should know about!” The Novac innkeeper felt a pit form in her stomach, but nonetheless, she felt at ease knowing Boone would likely act in case the Courier tried anything.
As they approached the front of the dinosaur, The courier turned on his heel. “Jeannie, I want to say I’m sorry to drag you out this late but, I wanted to ask this and the dinosaur seemed like a good place…what happened to Boone’s wife?”
She got what she deserved. She thought to herself. “Oh, poor dear. I know he thinks she was taken, but it’s pretty likely she ran off. She was like…well, a cactus flower. Pretty to look at, but all prickly to touch. She always went on about how much better everything was in Vegas. Always tried to have Boone go back with her. I guess she got tired of waiting.” The courier nodded slowly. “That’s a shame. He really seems like he misses her.” Jeannie put on her best sympathetic look. “I know dear, but it’s probably for the best she’s gone. I’m sure that some other girl that’s nice and homely will come along and steal his heart.” Maybe even that other courier. She’s a pretty thing. Good manners too! I should try and introduce them! She briefly remembered that the two couriers seemed quite close. Oh dear. I hope she’s not taken with this one. He’s polite, sure. But he’s a drifter. He’ll never settle down, probably doesn’t even look her way. Best I try to convince her to stay. She’d be better off with a man who looks after her.
“Well, that’s just about what I wanted to ask. The man wanted me to ask around, and I find myself warming up to ‘Im. We’ve spent a few nights talkin’ up there and I guess he wanted to put his fears to rest. Just one more question.” “Ask away dear.” “What’s this?” The courier handed her a note, and the already cool night seemed to lower its temperature even further. Her bill of sale sat in her hands. “I found it in your safe Jeanie May. I’m a sucker for old love stories and you said it was a letter from your old flame. But when I read it…Jeannie, That ain’t a letter from a lover.” The innkeeper’s face paled and reddened at the same time. “What are you going through an old woman’s belongings for you hooligan?!” She shrieked. “I’m a lot of things Ma’am. And unfortunately, nosy is one of ‘em.” The courier replied simply. “I wanna know, you didn’t like her, and from what I can tell, some people didn’t either. But why? The legion? Slavery?” “She didn’t leave me with much choice! That uppity attitude you have is exactly why I sold her! I got rid of a poison from Novac, and I’m getting rid of another one tonight! Get up to that room I rented you, Pack up, and clear out! That one with you can stay, but you can die in some radioactive ditch for all I care you snake!”
The courier’s neutral expression didn’t change. Jeannie stood with her arms crossed, tapping her foot angrily. “A snake Ma’am?” He asked. “Are you drunk or just thick? Yes a snake! You, walking in here with your High and mighty attitude! Stealing from my safe?! I bet you think this place is nothing compared to your fancy Vegas! It’s written all over you, city boy! Now clear out, before I get on the radio those legion boys left me and call another squad here to clear you out for me!” The old harridan shrieked. Worryingly, the courier did not move, did not change his expression, but his eyes, once dispassionate and disappointed, were now filled with a fiery hate. “You get all that Boone?” He said finally.
Jeannie’s blood ran cold as she heard a bolt action cocking in response from Rexy’s mouth. Whirling around, she saw Boone glaring down at her, the moonlight reflecting off his rifle’s scope. “N-Now Boone, be reasonable! You wouldn’t shoot an old woman-” “I’ve only got one word for you bitch.” Boone snarled down at her as he shouldered his rifle. “Run.”
The Novac innkeeper didn’t need to be told twice. Turning around, she began to sprint off into the desert. Cursing the courier all the while. For a moment, she considered that Boone would spare her. Right up until a searing pain through her right knee shattered that notion. Letting out a scream of agony, She collapsed, holding her ruined knee as it bled profusely. Taking one last frightful look back, she saw the courier, holding a rifle of his own with its barrel smoking, now wearing Boone’s Beret. The glint from Rexy’s mouth shifted, and Jeannie’s eye burst along with her skull as a .308 round went crashing through her grey matter. Spattering the road into Novac from Nelson with gore. She hadn’t gotten more than a few feet from where she’d turned. The courier approached her corpse, glaring hatefully at the remains of the old witch. “Burn in hell.” He hissed.
Walking into the lobby of the gift shop, he saw Boone walk out from the door to the sniper nest. “Nice shot, but I had it handled.” The courier shrugged and gave a more genuine smile than the one he’d shone to Jeannie May. “Sorry, I wanted my own piece.” “Oh? Why’s that?” “Naomi? The other courier? I freed her from the legion. I killed a frumentari captain and picked the lock on her collar” Boone went quiet at the revelation. “What made you suspect her?” He asked. “Well, first I asked around. Manny, Andy, hell, even No Bark. Manny gave me the same venomous shit Jeannie was spewing about her, but I feel like he had his own problems with her and was just parroting what he heard from her to justify it. Andy told me she had…opinions about this place, but it wasn’t meant to be hurtful. And No Bark? Well he told me something interesting.” Boone paled at the mention of the village nutcase. “No bark? Pal, you better not be telling me you believe even a quarter of what he says.” “I believe he saw a group of figures take Carla kickin’ and screamin’ from your room that night.” Flynn deadpanned. “Now, of course I took his explanation that it was molemen seeking to steal away the young and pretty with a good ten pounds of salt, but he mentioned one of ‘em stopped in the lobby of the Dee-lite. That pointed me to her safe. Inside? 1500 caps. In the bundle bags. No way she earned that much. Before I freed Naomi I traveled up and down Arizona. I know what price those bastards put on flesh. Then I found this in her safe.” “Just like them to keep paperwork…” Boone snarled. “What’re you gonna do now?” Flynn asked. “I’m not staying here, that’s for sure.” “You think they’ll suspect you?” “No. People die out there all the time. Besides, I was on break when it happened.” Boone replied with a smirk. “Hm. I’m hunting the bastard who shot me. If you wanna get out of here, then how about you join up with me and Naomi? Snipers work in teams right? We’re bound to come across more legion. Already they hit Nipton. And I don’t want Naomi back in their hands.” Flynn held out his hand in an offer. Boone considered it for a moment, staring intently behind his sunglasses before a small smile came to his face. “Deal.” He said, taking the courier’s hand.

We All Fall Down by kristen999 (@thekristen999)
He’d done this before. Inside the well. Trapped forty feet underground instead of in a tin can, rising water the constant threat.
Eddie stared at the radio, knowing this time there’d be someone on the other end to hear him if he needed to say something. If his time his second chances had finally run out.
He wouldn’t die alone. Not really. His team would be there. Just inches away. He could tell them, tell Buck….

“It’s just…” Connor shrugged. “No offense, man, but… you’re twenty-five. Do you really want to be spending so much time falling for a guy with a kid?”
“I’m not falling for him.”

A month away from graduating the LAFD Academy, Evan Buckley gets introduced to new recruit Eddie Diaz and things certainly change for both of them after that.
This author is also writing a s2 rewrite!

One Wrong Number by calinaannehart (@calinaannehart)
When Evan Buckley meets a man in a bar and gets his number, he couldn't possibly imagine how one wrong digit could lead him to his fate. Because sometimes wrong numbers are the right numbers.

Forced to take shady side jobs to pay his bills, Evan Buckley doesn’t think he’s ever seen such rock bottom. Until he meets Eddie Diaz, a man even more desperate and alone. Season 3 AU.

if it weren’t for second chances by alasse (@alasse9)
When Buck doesn’t save Daniel, the Buckleys put him in foster care. Seventeen years later, Bobby meets a tall, lanky kid who can’t stop eating his pancakes at a church breakfast, and he gives him a phone number and an unconditional offer of help.
A story about how Buck finds a chosen family, and with a few twists and turns, eventually gets to the 118, meets Eddie Diaz, and maybe finds himself a second and a third (or, an Evan Nash story).

Fuck.
Buck scrubs a hand down his face. He’s got no idea what he’s supposed to do here.
He knows what his parents are like. He has his own childhood to draw from, and Isaac doesn't deserve that. He deserves to grow up surrounded by love, and if nothing else, Buck can give him that.
But Buck is also a twenty-six year old probationary firefighter, living in his girlfriend’s apartment while she travels the world. He’s not exactly in a position to look after a kid.
“Okay.” It comes out in a rush of air. “I’m gonna come get you."

It’s probably considered getting off on the wrong foot when you have sex with your coworker before they start their new job, right?
Buck would think it’s probably not a good thing, and definitely something that shouldn’t be repeated. Especially when he becomes best friends with them. That’d be particularly stupid.

Eddie grins. “Yeah I get that. So can I ask why you applied for the room? No offence but you’re not exactly the kind of candidate I expected.”
Buck laughs, ducking his head. That’s probably true.
“I, uh, I’ve been staying at my girlfriend’s place while she’s travelling but um, my sister moved to LA recently and sort of made the point that I could be overstaying my welcome? Or, well- actually she tried to tell me my girlfriend’s cheating on me and I need to get over it and move out of her place.” Buck shakes his head, eyes widening at what he just implied. “She’s not! Cheating, I mean. She’s just- trying to find herself after losing her mom. She just needs a little space, y’know?”
At least, that’s the excuse Buck’s giving Abby for why she hasn’t called him in over two weeks.
Eddie nods with a vague sort of expression on his face like he hadn’t expected him to overshare that much. Which, oops.
In which Eddie decides to rent out his spare room to help with mortgage repayments right around the time Buck decides to move out of Abby's place after some not so gentle prodding from Maddie. It's a coincidence. Or serendipity. Or maybe just really good timing.
