It took me seven weeks to find the #confidence to take Floss out, just her and I, by ourselves. I went into #birth feeling more confident than I’d ever felt about anything, but as soon as she was born, something changed. I lost my confidence. I questioned my abilities as a mother. Everything felt strange and new and scary. I thought #breastfeeding would come naturally and that it‘d be easy for me. It wasn’t. We’re seven weeks in and I’ve already had #mastitis and I have to wear nipple shields for the pain. I meditated every day through my pregnancy and had a pretty calm 42 weeks. I thought Floss would be a calm monkey and she’d be a great sleeper. She hasn’t been. She’s a happy bub, but she doesn’t fall sleep without being held. I thought I’d bring my warrior woman strength from our #homebirth into our #fourthtrimester and be one of those mums that’s a natural at everything. But I’ve doubted myself and felt inadequate about a lot of things. Then on Friday I found myself forced to find my confidence for my daughter and I had to rip off the #selfdoubt band aid. We were walking with our @silvercross_australia pram, 800m from home, and Floss was not happy. I’m talking big tears, worked up and red-faced, screaming-not-happy. Every time I picked her up to calm her, I’d have to put her back in the pram to keep moving, but she’d start screaming again. We weren’t getting any closer to home. So, I tied Luna to a tree, pulled up the pram, sat on the side of the road, whipped out a boob and #breastfed her to calm her down, and for five minutes, it worked. Then it started to rain, and it was going to start storming any minute. I tried to put Floss back in the pram but she kept screaming. She wanted was the boob and nothing else. So, I threw my self doubt and fear out the window. I drove the pram with my left hand, and kept Floss strapped to my boob with my right, and I walked and fed and conquered our journey home like a breastfeeding #bossmumma. Hey 🙋🏽

This is me. This is us.

I'm a single mumma to this gorgeous little lad known as Zach... or Bugalugs (slightly bias but whatever ✌🏽) & I'm trying to do what every mother does and provide the greatest life EVER.

At the same time, battling mental health problems myself, I’m on a journey of recovery and learning to control my mentality using improved nutrition and fitness.

I’ve studied hard at uni, got myself a degree and I was all set to become a teacher! Then BAM.... Bugalugs has bilateral hearing loss 😳 oh and probably ADHD and a little bit of Autism aswell (cheers doc 👍🏼).

So all of a sudden an 8am-6pm placement wasn't so appealing. And after school clubs were just torture for the boy. I needed an idea & fast. How could I be around, be able to attend every single appointment, be there through the struggle that was to come and still provide that life I dreamed of him having? 😕

BECOME MY OWN BOSS 👌🏽😎

So here I am, being the best mum I can be whilst building a business helping others with their nutrition and fitness. Using my experience of controlling my mental health & working towards my own body goals as well as my new Fitness Instructor and Personal Training qualification 🙏🏽

Don’t think I don’t suffer the usual #MumProbs of attitude when the iPad gets confiscated, refusal of dinner and the dreaded sugar rush come down after kids parties. It’s just easier, being able to work from absolutely anywhere & working towards providing that life I said that I would.

It's not all hearts and flowers - we’ve dealt with cruel kids who disliked his hearing aids, we deal with issues at school with his learning & behaviour - BUT... we deal with them BECAUSE I'm here whenever I'm needed to be 🙌🏽
