it's been pointed out on here before that a lot of terf arguments are actually rooted in sexist idealology that feminists fought and died to unnormalise decades ago and that's its own kettle of fish but one thing i also find very frustrating about this so called 'radical' feminism is that it's so... defeatist? like the moment you categorically label an entire section of society as Bad and Inherently Evil then there's also the implication that nothing can be done about it, and it completely takes all accountability away. saying all men are evil is just another way of saying boys will be boys. he raped her because he's a man. he hit her because he's a man. he didn't listen because he's a man - it's almost offensively oversimplified. there's no point trying to fix this issue in society because men are just Like That, okay! so now what? it's not like they're going anywhere, so you just accept that 50% of the population are evil and will forever treat you terribly and there's nothing to be done about it bc they're biologically predisposed to it? like is that fr the argument here? you're soooo radical for that

Fic snippet #8: VegasPete

Pete looked calm as he leaned on Vegas’ shoulder. Peaceful. It made Vegas realize that serenity was a foreign sight on Pete too. A suit that didn't quite fit. Pete had been sleeping differently at the safehouse, in a way that seemed uncomfortable and strained to Vegas now. As if he had been drugged, as if being unconscious had been against his will. As if closing his eyes would equal his defeat.  Vegas had found him beautiful nonetheless.

I honestly love the clothing styles of each of the turtles in this show and I love how these styles really incorporate their personalities as well.

Like, obviously Donnie has the best sense of style, yeah? Think that’s something pretty agreed upon here. Everything we see him put together is very meticulously crafted and clean. That goes with his personality because Donnie is a very meticulous person in general, and he knows what he likes very, very well, and knows how to flaunt it in turn. Him commenting on colors he enjoys or disapproving of outfits that the others see no problem with also shows how he just generally has an eye for this kind of thing. He doesn’t just know what looks good on himself, but also what looks good on others - and I think this ties into his love of gift giving too. Donnie also has a flair for making sure that his things have his “mark” on them, and his clothing is no exception. All that he wears and how he wears them screams “Donnie.”

Mikey is really fun because his styles are honestly a pendulum between super simplistic and incredibly out there. And often, you’re going to see a lot of color or patterns to both. And in my opinion I think that all reflects really well on Mikey’s character - he’s got a colorful personality but even more than that he’s incredible sure of who he himself is. Mikey’s style, I feel, is less what looks good as clothes and more what sparks joy in Mikey himself. His bright stickers he wears are a testament of that! He’s comfortable in his own skin and his style reflects this perfectly, whether he goes for a more out-there look or a more toned down one.

Now, for Leo. Okay, I think I’m actually in the minority here I feel because Leo’s style isn’t really that bad? Hear me out- if you actually look at what he wears, try taking out, like, one accessory. Suddenly, that outfit works! He even manages to put together many good outfits in the series, but his “bad” ones are the ones that tend to stand out, alas (just like how his mistakes tend to be big ones oop-) Basically, my personal look at him is not that he’s inept at styling at all, but that he has a “too much” gene. And like everyone else, this sense of style is completely like him, too. Going too far to impress when all he needed to do was slow it down some to think things through. (And funnily enough, a lot of his outfits take random aspects from his brothers too - “nothing without them” huh?)

For Raph, I feel bad for him since pretty much all of his clothes are inevitably going to be ripped, but he makes them work pretty much each time. Like Leo, Raph tends to go more sporty with his looks, but I also noticed that his stuff often goes in that in between of comfy, cool, and cute. His pajama suit in particular comes to mind in terms of “cute” as it’s more something you’d see younger children in rather than older kids, and I think it can be a subtle nod to the fact that for all Raph tries to seem older, he’s still just a kid too.

I could probably go on, but these are just all off the top of my head - I love how the boys’ personality’s come out in so many different ways.

Hate being a taichi main because no matter how well I understand reni's story it only makes me become MORE bitter like what the FUCK do you mean you've told this sixteen year old that his life is essentially worthless and forever changed the trajectory of his life and his self worth and your reasoning is that "he didn't channel God in his performance"? I do wanna point out that a lot of transmascs do expect to take T and have only a selective few male characteristics that... don't work like they want?

It's okay to want to be a "pretty boy". Hell, I'd fucking love to be one, but it's so fucking funny to see people who have made fun and mocked men who lose hair, who can't grow a beard, who are fat, who have acne become one of these men, then sob and cry about it, because they had unrealistic expectations about hormones. And they can't let go of such white centric eastern beauty standards.

It just doesn't fit in my head that people want to become men but don't.... want to look like what men actually look like? When I started my transition, I never compared myself to these fucking models or actors, because I knew I couldn't look like them - very few people who have a lot of resources can look like them.

I'm balding. I'm losing hair at an increasing rate, looking down at my feet as I towel-dry my hair and there's a part of me that goes "oh gods" whenever that happens, but at the same time I look at myself in the mirror and I think, "Oh. I've got my father's hairline when he was my age." And I think of my dad, with the body hair I have and the same eyes as me and I just have to grin. Because I'm his son, and now I can tell.

I've acne. I've always had terrible acne! But it's come back with a vengeance and it hurts my face a lot - I know it'll pass. I've gone through it before, I can move from that. My beard is also very patchy and not very good, and I asked my dad about it. He told me he couldn't get a full beard until he turned 32. It made me smile. Because it means I will reach 32 to see it, when I didn't even know before if I'd get to 20.

So to any transmasculine people or trans men afraid to go on T or regretting going on T because it's making you not look like Harry Styles or whatever bottox-filled up fucking pop star that you've plastered on your wall........

Look at the men riding the bus. Not the screen. And try to understand that no trans person transitions to be beautiful. You transition to be happy with your fucking self.

HRT is not a cure for your self-esteem, it's a medical process to help you be happy and comfortable. So if you want people to see you as a man, you've to know what a real man actually looks like.

help!!! i have just discovered that wookieepedia lists day-lengths and year-lengths for a bunch of planets and that alderaan and tatooine are, of course, included. and that these day lengths and year lengths vary rather wildly from the galactic standard (aka 24 hrs / 365 days).

tatooine has a really long day - 34 hours. they have 2 suns. nights are short. it sounds like pure hell, but it makes sense. it’s also close to its suns and makes a full revolution every 304 days. checks out.

so. alderaan has a rly short day, only 18 hours. sure, i buy it. it’s got a standard year - 364 days. fine.

except the thing is that because of the way years are measured on those planets, despite luke and leia having been born literal minutes apart and being 19 standard years of age... leia is considered 25 years old on alderaan... and luke is... on tatooine... 16..................
