I never really got into any Vetinari ship bc like... he always seems like he has too much else to do, idk. But I think if there was Vetinari/Morporkia i could get really into that. Like, that is the love of his life. He's killed for her, he put himself in harm's way for her, he carried a lilac blossom in his mouth for her, he dedicated his entire life to her. Yes, the "Stinkytown is sentient" post inspired this

I haven't seen every season of Drag Race, but I have watched most of the US episodes, and most of those I have watched in the past 4 months. So I feel comfortable saying this week's episode was the worst the show has ever had.
#the editing was godawful#the writing was shit#the balance has been so off all season as far as featuring the contestants#I dont understand why they bothered to use the title and names from last year's acting challenge when this had not one thing to do with it#i wish someone had at least pointed out that Fancy is STILL a Reba reference#as much as the eliminations have been cleaning house of white twinks they are still giving pass after pass to one in particular#who should have gone home on Snatch Game#and most of all I am SO angry about the way that argument was resolved#as a lifelong doormat watching Malaysia be talked into believing she was being a stick in the mud during their harmless fun and games#INFURIATED ME#Because NO#people who grab whatever they can WHETHER THEY WANT IT OR NOT#just because they know most people are accommodating enough to keep the peace even if it means personallly losing out#are people I have learned to stay the fuck away from because they will take advantage of you every chance they get#and obviously we are only seeing what the edit decides to air in the 20 seconds each queen gets to speak each week#but Malaysia refused to let them steamroll the rest of the cast just because they had the loudest brashest voice in the room#and I will not accept her being set up in a 'both sides' narrative for doing so#i will say that it was super shady for the third group to take advantage of that power struggle to claim hip hop without anyone elses input#and I wish that had come up too#no one asked you ms p

MINORS DNI 18+
Something about ARKHAM KNIGHT’s crude lack of filter. Talking shit like, “When are you gonna let me fuck that cunt?” That cunt. Ignoring the rest of the plethora of maladies littered in that statement, calling your pussy “that” followed by its brashest name had you rubbing your legs together. Shit like that makes you promise him it’s his to fuck, whenever he wants, it’s his cunt.
He doesn’t care what he calls you in front of his men. Seasoned and trained, his personal militia are simply an audience to him to witness how poorly he treats you. “Quit acting like a bitch.” he tells you, showing your face to himself by grabbing harsh hold of your jaw, twisting you around until you jerk out of it and shove him. It earns him whistles, and jeers from his men, urging him to “put you in your place.” He turns the gun on them, quicker than blinking. “Wanna run that by me again?” he demands, and you flinch from his raised voice, the technological enhancement grating your ears.
He’ll snicker when he says, “Oh yeah, baby, get fuckin’ nasty with it.” in a heinous little purr, congratulating you with his dick batting your cheek. Every square inch of your face glossed in a mix of saliva and cum goo, strung in your lashes and dripping down your chin. Your throat is thick from being fucked, and you can only grin up at him, flinching every time his fat cock drums against your face, splashing fluids and stringing them along his shaft every time it’s lifted. “Keep those hands behind your back.” An order you heed, crossing your wrists over one another so you won’t be tempted to brace on his thighs or jack him off. A big palm fastens behind your head, and keeps you where he wants you as he starts to rut. His frosted dick rubs back and forth along the length of your face, pushing his hips forward until his balls bump your chin. There’s an added edge to his pleasure seeing you let him use you like this, humping your head. “Hold on, baby,” he tells you when you open your mouth instinctively to take him. “I really like dicks on faces.”
He’ll tell you he wants to “fuck your skull” and “bruise your cervix” and to “stop being a bitch” when you refuse to put out. And it shouldn’t make you spread your legs but it does.

After reading this post from @waitmyturtles about her read on Fire and Dynamite, I was thinking a bit more about the way the show has handled their story and what I love about it. And I think it comes down to a crucial point: Cooking Crush, unlike most Thai bl, is NOT in the bubble, and the presence of homophobia, both internal and external, cannot be separated from their story. This is a queer narrative to the core.
Both Fire and Dynamite are shaped by their sexuality and their experiences or fear of rejection because of it. Dynamite is out and proud and unapologetic about what he wants, and as we learn when his backstory is revealed to us, this is a direct response to the familial rejection he experienced when he came out. Dy is defiant and in your face with his desires because he has already experienced the worst kind of rejection and is always bracing for more. So he dares people to do it right out of the gate. He likes to know where he stands with people, so he’d rather be his brashest self and suffer the loss early before getting attached. He deals with fear by daring people to prove him right.
Fire takes his fear in the opposite direction, denying who he is and rejecting anything that makes him think too hard about the aspects of himself he does not want to deal with. Even without Dynamite in the picture, it was clear that he was trying to talk himself into liking Jane in a way he simply did not. Once we got to know his mother, the source of his fear became crystal clear, and it was easy to see why he worked so hard to suppress himself. Fire was unhappy living that way, and Dynamite was a constant reminder of what he was trying to keep down, so it’s no wonder he reacted so viscerally to him.
But that’s exactly why their story works. Fire needed someone who he couldn’t ignore to draw out his true self, and because Dynamite is so unwilling to put up with mixed messages and half-hearted declarations, Fire had to work himself all the way out before Dy would accept him. One of the genius things this show did in their arc was have Dy pull away as soon as Fire began sending mixed signals. Dynamite was fine in the face of Fire’s firm rejection—it as what he always expected to get from him along with everyone else. But he wouldn’t allow Fire to run hot and cold on him and play with his emotions, because that was where he knew he could get really hurt. And this boundary that Dy set forced Fire to figure out what he actually wanted and communicate it clearly.
Which is why we saw Fire change so much as soon as they were together, because in the process of deciding what he wanted from Dynamite, Fire had to make some decisions about who he wanted to be and how he wanted to live. And he chose to embrace his queerness and live a more authentic life. He is a new man in this relationship because he is being himself for the first time ever, and he’s finally breaking free from the weight of his own internalized homophobia. It’s a positive change and one that is clearly making him happy, and part of him must feel grateful to Dy for pushing him into figuring out what he wanted.
But crucially, that is where Dy’s pushing ends. He is utterly unwilling to make any further demands of Fire regarding coming out, to the point that Dy puts his own friendships at risk to hide their relationship and protect Fire until he’s ready. He understands the fear of rejection Fire is still dealing with because he lived it. And he has already proven that he’s up to the task of handling Fire’s mother whenever Fire is ready to face her. These two are still early in their relationship but they have already fallen into a very natural and easy pattern of providing each other emotional support and stability, and we can see them shoring each other up. They make a great pair and theirs is a story that can only exist between queer characters.
I just love that in this show that feels so light on the surface they have made room for such depth in the storytelling. Watching Cooking Crush feels like a warm hug because even though it’s gentle and funny and often silly, there are real emotional struggles to ground us, and the story takes them seriously. We’ve seen this consistently in the main storyline with Ten and Prem, and Fire and Dynamite are no exception.

WORLD WRESTLING FEDERATION MAGAZINE :  JANUARY 1996
Private Eye
Rock ‘N’ Roll All Night & Wrestle Every Day!
Photos by Tom Buchanan
Recently, at New York City’s Electric Lady Studios, some of the brashest head-bangers in heavy metal clashed with a sample of spectacular squared circle superstars to…….make beautiful music together?
That’s right, Daddy, the best five man tag team in professional wrestling–the Heartbreak Kid Shawn Michaels, Big Daddy Cool Diesel, Bret “Hot Man” Hart, Razor Ramon and the Undertaker (Along with manager Paul Bearer)--clashed with such metal maniacs as Savatage lead singer Jon Oliva, Anthrax guitarist Scott Ian and Pro-Pain bassist Gray Meskil (Who, I might add, are ALL World Wrestling Federation FANATICS) and a host of others to collaborate on “Full Metal: The Album.” an exciting new World Wrestling Federation LP that is soon to be released in Germany.
“Full Metal: The Album” contains two songs by the bashin’-bangin’ ensemble entitled “We’re All Together Now” (which is also being released as a music video) and “Thorn in Your Eye” (An upbeat tune led by Michel B. and Olli S. of the German Crossover Kings, a popular Deutschland rap duo)! In conjunction with those original tunes, “Full Metal: The Album” Also contains 12 theme songs of various Federation Superstars, including Psycho Sid’s “Psycho Dance” and the Smoking Gunns’ “Smokin’”
The album was scheduled to be released in Germany sometime in November, and as of press time negotiations were being held in an effort to make “Full Metal: The Album” available to fans in the United States as well.
[(Opposite page top) While Razor Ramon and Shawn Michaels look on, the Undertaker and Big Daddy Cool get some insights into the mixing board at Electric Lady Studios in New York City. Meanwhile (opposite page bottom) back behind the mike, the Fab Five belt out a tune!
This page: (Top) Bret “Hit Man” Hart raps with Jon Oliva, lead singer of Savatage, while Paul Bearer checks out the microphone for his Undertaker. (Middle) And a one, and a two–with everything in position, the Undertaker prepares to bellow out a few notes, while Tim Mallare, the drummer of Overkill, looks on. (Bottom) Oliva poses with the Fab Five as they wrap up the set!]

DAEMON TARGARYEN & VISERYS I TARGARYEN
Q: George said that the biggest conflict in this show is not between people, but within somebody's own heart. What do you think it’s your character's biggest conflict in their heart? PADDY CONSIDINE: My biggest conflict... I should never have been named king. Q: Why? PADDY CONSIDINE: Because really, in my heart, I wasn't built to do it. MATT SMITH: I don't know, that's a tough one. His biggest conflict is himself, to be honest. And, uh, his brother. Something to do with his brother, probably. Don't know what.
— Rotten Tomatoes TV interview with Paddy Considine (plays Viserys) and Matt Smith (plays Daemon)
***
He's always kind of flipping sides, I suppose, in many ways aligning himself with his brother or he's not... I don't think it's about an ambition to [the] throne and all that. I think a lot of it is about his brother.
— Matt Smith, Entertainment Weekly
***
I think [Daemon] has a sense of duty to his family, weirdly. I think he’d lie on his sword for his brother or Rhaenyra.
— Matt Smith, Los Angeles Times
***
Q: The most prominent relationship Daemon has in the premiere is with his brother, King Viserys, and the contrast is striking. Viserys wants to be liked, while Daemon really doesn’t care what people think. A: That’s true. But what I uncovered, which perhaps wasn’t there in black and white, is that there’s a deep fragility to Daemon, actually — particularly when it comes to his brother. He cares what his brother thinks. The rest of the empire can go stick it. He doesn’t really give a toss.
— Matt Smith, The New York Times

[Daemon] had been among the brashest of Viserys's supporters prior to the Great Council and had even gathered a small army of sworn swords and men-at-arms when rumours claimed that Corlys Velaryon was readying a fleet to defend the rights of his son, Laenor. King Jaehaerys avoided bloodshed, but many remembered that Daemon had been ready to come to blows over the matter.
— Maester Yandel, The World of Ice & Fire
***
As for the king's own views, all the chronicles agree that King Viserys hated dissension. Though far from blind to his brother's flaws, he cherished his memories of the free-spirited, adventurous boy that Daemon had been. His daughter was his life's great joy, he oft said, but a brother is a brother. Time and time again he strove to make peace between Prince Daemon and Ser Otto, but the enmity between the two men roiled endlessly beneath the false smiles they wore at court. When pressed upon the matter [of succession], King Viserys would only say that he was certain his queen would soon present him with a son.
— Archmaester Gyldayn, The Rogue Prince, or, A King's Brother
***
RHAENYRA: You haven't come to court in an age. DAEMON: Aye. Court is so dreadfully boring. RHAENYRA: Then why come back at all? DAEMON: I heard your father was hosting a tournament in my honor. RHAENYRA: The tournament is for his heir. DAEMON: Just as I said. RHAENYRA: His new heir. DAEMON: Until your mother brings forth a son you are all cursed with me.

I think they are normal brothers. And there's a huge amount of love there, and I think it's complicated. You know, there's a sort of deep, dark history that surrounds them.
— Matt Smith, S1 EP1: Inside the Episode
***
[Daemon struggles to finish while having sex with Mysaria and gets frustrated] MYSARIA: What troubles you, my Prince? [Daemon covers himself] MYSARIA: I could bring in another. Perhaps a maiden. I have several. [Mysaria uncovers his head to look at him] MYSARIA: I could even arrange one with silver hair. [Daemon stays quiet, sullen] MYSARIA: You are Daemon Targaryen. Rider of Caraxes. Wielder of Dark Sister. The King cannot replace you.
— House of the Dragon, 1.01 “The Heirs of the Dragon”
***
Ostensibly, most people are afraid of Daemon. And it's interesting for someone to say that Viserys is weak. As soon as Viserys goes "Oi, Daemon, wind your neck in", Daemon does. It's like your word is rule. And Daemon shuts up eats his porridge when he's told to. But only from him.
— Matt Smith, HOTD: Official Podcast - Everything we know about House of the Dragon
***
MATT: Oddly, he says to his brother "You're weak", but I think that's all about him going, "I don't feel recognized". Everything Daemon does is the response of going, "I want you to recognize me." You know what I mean? "Please. I love you. I love you. I love you." So he's just a really annoying... he's his annoying little brother. You know what I mean? PADDY: Yeah. MATT: And I think that's what we landed on, isn't it? PADDY: Yeah. MATT: Without ever really talking about it. PADDY: And it's weird in families, you know. There's things within my own family. There's estrangements. There's a strange psychology of cutting people out and punishing them with silence and things like that. And it's just, you know, why can't we just call each other up and say, "I love you"? It's hard. And I felt, even when we were making it, that Daemon just wanted Viserys to say, "I love you." MATT: Yeah. PADDY: And Viserys sort of knew that, but begrudgingly, it's like, "I'm not gonna say that to you." He doesn't hate Daemon. Doesn't hate him at all. He's just not going to give Daemon what he wants. MATT: Which is odd, though, isn't it? For someone who's so bright and sensible, and such a, you know, in many ways, quite an astute man, he's still not capable emotionally of doing something really simple. Like, he's quite complicated emotionally, Viserys, isn't he? PADDY: I think so too, yeah. There's a lot going on.
— HOTD: Official Podcast - Everything we know about House of the Dragon
***
VISERYS: My family has just been destroyed. But instead of being by my side, or Rhaenyra's, you chose to celebrate your own rise! Laughing with your whores and your lickspittles! You have no allies at court but me! I have only ever defended you! Yet everything I've given you, you've thrown back in my face. DAEMON: You've only ever tried to send me away! To the Vale, to the City Watch, anywhere but by your side! Ten years you've been king, and yet not once have you asked me to be your Hand! VISERYS: Why would I do that? DAEMON: Because I'm your brother. And the blood of the dragon runs thick. VISERYS: Then why do you cut me so deeply? DAEMON: I've only ever spoken the truth. I see Otto Hightower for what he is. VISERYS: An unwavering and loyal Hand? DAEMON: A cunt. A second son who stands to inherit nothing he doesn't seize for himself. VISERYS: Otto Hightower is a more honorable man than you could ever be. DAEMON: He doesn't protect you. I would. VISERYS: From what? DAEMON: Yourself. You're weak, Viserys. And that council of leeches knows it. They all prey on you for their own ends. VISERYS: ...I have decided to name a new heir. DAEMON: I'm your heir. VISERYS: Not anymore. You are to return to Runestone and your lady wife at once, and you are to do so without quarrel by order of your King. [Daemon steps forward toward him, but the Kingsguard stands in his way] DAEMON: Your Grace.
—House of the Dragon, 1.01 "The Heirs of the Dragon"
***
PADDY: I think he's somebody who's trying to be a king that pleases everybody and ultimately that has a very detrimental effect on him later on. Q: And Daemon is the opposite? MATT: Yes, in many ways. But they're weirdly similar and weirdly opposite, like all siblings. But yeah, in many ways he's very opposite. He's reactionary, he's impetuous, violent, he's attention-seeking, there's a madness to him. PADDY: Yeah, he is attention-seeking. MATT: Yeah, totally. PADDY: And there's nothing worse if you're an attention-seeker and you're being ignored. MATT: And you're going 'notice me! notice me!'
— Entertainment Tonight
***
Viserys has a very complicated relationship with his brother. He deeply loves him, but he loves the idea that Daemon will change and be somebody else, and Daemon is not a person who changes. And Daemon also desperately loves his brother. I mean, they have this really kind of beautiful, conflicted, complicated relationship, and Daemon just wants his brother to let him in and to be at his side. Everybody thinks that Daemon, you know, wants the throne, and wants to take it from Viserys. He wants to be at Viserys' side. He wants, really wants to be Viserys' Hand. But Viserys doesn't trust him because of the way we see him act. So it's this argument of "Why don't you trust me?", and it's like, "Well, because of the things you do." And he's like, "Well, I do the things that I do because you don't trust me." So it's this really, again, it's a deeply conflicted, complicated relationship between the two brothers, but I think Viserys is aware the whole time.

Absolutely not, no. He can't fix his brother. And I don't think he thinks he can. What he does is occupy his brother. Keeps him occupied. If we keep Daemon over there and put him in charge of that and keep him busy, you know, well, no one's talking about him and then everything's fine. [...] Every job he's had, he's messed up. I can't fix him, I can't fix my own daughter. I can't fix anybody. It was never about trying to fix him. It was just that dysfunction that brothers have with their own egos.

DAEMON: You've matured yourself these last four years, Princess. [Rhaenyra looks down] DAEMON: You'll get used to the attention. RHAENYRA: The attention I can endure. It's the rest I could do without. My father seems content to sell me off to whichever lord has the biggest castle. [Daemon looks down smiling] DAEMON: There are worse things to be sold for.

There’s a deep and quite profound love between [Daemon and Viserys], and I hope that’s something that comes alive throughout all 10 episodes. The thing with Daemon is he just keeps pushing — pushing the envelope, pushing the boundaries, pushing the rules that were in place around him. But it’s weird. The more time I spent with palace intrigue … He’s got a strange moral compass of his own. What looks like he’s just being erratic and mad, he thinks he’s doing the right thing.
— Matt Smith, The New York Times
***
Daemon has a great affiliation, and love, and admiration for his brother, the King. But Daemon's all swords and knives, really. I do think on some level, he wants to cause chaos. I think he's interested in chaos, I think he survives in chaos quite well. He's got a very quite clear moral compass. And you're either in it or you're out of it.

PADDY: Viserys does love Daemon. Massively. They just can't articulate it between each other. Daemon in Viserys' eyes is a fuck up, he's always bringing trouble to his door. But a part of Viserys envies Daemon because part of him wishes he could go off and do what Daemon does. MATT: And also what Daemon wants is, he says to him, he's like "Come with me." You know what I mean, "Be my big brother, let's go. We could have it all" and, you know, "Why are you fucking doing all this, ruling the kingdom with a sane mind?"

If it was difficult when you were just you and your kid, now suddenly it's about the impact of those choices that you made, how you fuck your kids up, turns them into terrible leaders. Or amazing ones. And they impact every single other member of that society. And I think that's fascinating, and different characters carry the weight of that knowledge in different ways. Daemon could care less. He doesn't care, he just wants to be close to his brother. He doesn't give a shit about the throne. [As for] Viserys, it's all he can think about. "Will I be remembered as a good king? Will I be remembered as just this guy who just kept things going in peace time?"
— Miguel Sapochnik, HOTD: Official Podcast Ep. 6 "The Princess and the Queen"
***
I think he's saying it with a degree of sincerity, 'The Heir for a Day', yeah, amen. That was the point as he said it. And then he goes back- I think he's just really frustrated at his brother. He wants to shake him and go 'Wake up. I love you more than everyone else. I love you more than everyone else.' It's just, you know, misplaced love, I think. It's what it's all about.
— Matt Smith, The Wrap
***
MATT: I don't think Daemon said it-- from his point of view, he's not saying it in a bad way when he's in the pub, or in the brothel, whatever, when he's talking - the reason he's in trouble. I think with Daemon, again, there's just the sort of very deep, deep love for his brother. And I think there's a strange sort of fragility to him. It's all about acceptance, and he's cross, he's annoyed at his older brother for ruling like this and not accepting him. So I think they're all genuine concerns. I don't think it's particularly histrionic from him. PADDY: I think Viserys is torn between being a brother and being King. I think if it was anyone else who uttered those words, they'd be dead. MATT: Heads would roll. PADDY: And I think for Viserys, again, it's the guilt he feels for making the choices he makes in the first episode. And I think sometimes Viserys perceives Daemon as somebody that abuses his position quite a bit, abuses his privilege a little bit at times, whereas Viserys doesn't have that sort of gene in him, really. He doesn't abuse his position as king in any way, and I think sometimes Viserys feels that Daemon gets away with things because he is the prince. MATT: And ironically, Daemon's like, ‘why can't you just get away with things with me?’ Q, PADDY: Yeah. MATT: Because there was a time when they used to go out together. They were more equal, weren't they? PADDY: Yeah. MATT: Not equal, but [hand gestures].

It is Viserys waiting for that heir to come along and putting poor Queen Aemma through these multiple stillbirths and miscarriages and pregnancies to try to get to that, to protect the realm. Because once he has a son, then he doesn't have to have the conversation with Daemon. He can just say, "I'm sorry, bro. You know how it works. It's my firstborn." Matters became more complicated when, with Ser Otto Hightower's encouragement, King Viserys announced his intention to wed the Lady Alicent, Ser Otto's daughter and the Old King's former nursemaid. Laughter and love ruled the Red Keep [the night of the wedding between Viserys and Alicent]... whilst across Blackwater Bay, Lord Corlys the Sea Snake welcomed the king's brother Prince Daemon to a war council. The prince had suffered all he could stand of the Vale of Arryn, Runestone, and his lady wife. "Dark Sister was made for nobler tasks than slaughtering sheep," he is reported to have told the Lord of the Tides. "She has a thirst for blood." But it was not rebellion that the rogue prince had in mind; he saw another path to power. [...] The Sea Snake was determined to put an end to the Triarchy's rule over the Stepstones, and in Daemon Targaryen he found a willing partner, eager for the gold and glory that victory in war would bring him. Prince Daemon had at last returned to court [for the great tourney in honor of the fifth anniversary of the king's marriage to Queen Alicent]. RHAENYRA: You seemed so content on Dragonstone. Why did you come back? [Daemon stays silent] RHAENYRA: There is surely more to your return than simply taunting my father. [He smiles and touches her necklace] RHAENYRA: So... What do you want? DAEMON: Only the comforts of home.

Q: What is it about [Rhaenyra] that resonates with [Daemon]? A: There’s that family bond that he is so invested in. It really, really matters to him. And probably he feels a certain kinship with her that he’s maybe lost with his brother.

It's a very complicated situation, isn't it. But, I think a lot of it is about trying to get a reaction from his brother in the early instances, and it's about trying to wind his brother up and annoy his brother. As you see, when the series goes on, it's not as black and white, as Paddy says, having an interest in your young niece. It's much more complex than that, really, as the Targaryens are, you know. It's a strange, strange, complex family.

It's the idea that Daemon is using Rhaenyra as a way to get to her father. Ultimately, his impotence in [the brothel] scene is a reflection of the fact that he knows deep down what he's doing isn't right.

ALICENT: It is not in Rhaenyra's nature to be deceitful. I cannot say the same for your brother. VISERYS: You believe he lied? ALICENT: How often does he speak the pure truth? VISERYS: How does confessing to such things serve him? ALICENT: By reducing you.

Q: Do you think Daemon loves Rhaenyra? Because he's a tricky one, too, you know? I mean, he's brutal. A: I think Daemon idolises Viserys, and because Rhaenyra is an extension of Viserys and represents pure Targaryen fire, I think Daemon is in love with that. But I think, also, Daemon gets bored easily.

In a pure creative writer's sense, it's thrilling because it's so freeing, and it allows you to be, at once, devotedly faithful to the source material and also incredibly free and creative to make different decisions and to turn an expectation on its head. To take the event, that little line in the book about Lady Rhea having her skull crushed in a fall from her horse, and turning that into a whole scene and a motivation for Daemon to strike back at the king who's always held this loveless marriage that's basically a prison for Daemon, to keep him controlled and keep him from doing the things he wanted to do. In 116 AC, in the Free City of Pentos, Lady Laena gave birth to twin daughters, Daemon Targaryen's first trueborn children. [...] From High Tide, he sent a raven to his brother in King's Landing, informing His Grace of the birth of his nieces and begging leave to present the girls at court to receive his royal blessing. Though his Hand and small council argued heatedly against it, Viserys consented, for the king still loved the brother who had been the companion of his youth. "Daemon is a father now," he told Grand Maester Mellos. "He will have changed." Thus were the sons of Baelon Targaryen reconciled for the second time.

The governance of the realm was a daunting task; the king needed a strong, capable Hand to shoulder some of his burdens. Briefly he considered sending for Princess Rhaenyra. [...] He considered his brother as well, until he recalled Prince Daemon's previous stints on the small council. [...] His grace chose familiarity, and recalled to court Ser Otto Hightower, the queen's father, who had filled the office before for both Viserys and the Old King. Yet hardly had Ser Otto arrived at the Red Keep to take up the Handship than word reached court that Princess Rhaenyra had remarried, taking to husband her uncle, Daemon Targaryen. The princess was twenty-three, Prince Daemon thirty-nine. King, court, and commons were all outraged by the news. Neither Daemon's wife nor Rhaenyra's husband had been dead even half a year, to wed again so soon was an insult to their memory, His Grace declared angrily. The marriage had been performed on Dragonstone, suddenly and secretly. Septon Eustace claims that Rhaenyra knew that her father would never approve of the match, so she wed in haste to make certain he could not prevent the marriage.

It's like all this corruption and all this fighting, this is what it does. This is what being a king does. This is the effect of all of this on me. Why can't we just love each other? It sounds really naff, but it's like, "Why can't we just love each other? Why can't we just make this work?" […] I don't think he ever wanted to be king; it's a burden. He's just doing a duty. He was too human to be king. […] When he takes his last breath he maybe feels like he's done all he can, and he's put his house right. He did his best. I think in this scene, [Rhaenyra] gets a message from beyond the grave the moment that she understands that Daemon wasn't chosen. ‘Wow, it was never you.’ Simultaneously, Daemon gets shafted from beyond the grave by his brother, who he loves more than any other character in the show. On the one hand, he can say that he doesn't believe in prophecies. But he was never trusted to anyway.
— Emma D'Arcy (plays Rhaenyra), GQ
***
[Aegon’s prophecy] certainly is a burden. We know that [Rhaenyra] knows it, we know that Daemon does not. And whatever little bit he heard, he was very dismissive of.
— Ryan Condal, HOTD: Official Podcast Ep. 10 "The Black Queen"
***
Q: Shouldn’t he at least have told Daemon or others about the prophecy? A: No way, not at that time. That’s something that we struggled with. There was a scene that was deleted after Aemma (Sian Brooke) died, where Viserys meets with Daemon and he tries to hint at this idea of prophecies and what the gods mean to him. He was trying to get some idea where Daemon’s at with his beliefs, but the tone of the scene was never quite right. There’s no way that Daemon would even connect to that — he’d laugh Viserys out of the room. He’s not into dreamers or things like that.
— Paddy Considine, The New York Times
***
Look, I think Daemon has a lot of good aspects to him, but there is this darkness in him that he really struggles with. And his core injury is the fact that Viserys rejected him. Everybody thinks that Daemon wanted the crown, and maybe he did. Maybe he toyed with the idea a bit. But really, really deep down what he wanted was to be Viserys' Hand. He wanted to be his brother's guy. He wanted to help him and protect him; it's the thing he tells him in the first episode. So, when Daemon learns after this hell of a day he had where he learns that his brother is dead, he maybe thinks that his enemies, the Hightowers, helped him along. He learns that the throne, his wife's birthright has been seized and stolen. It's been an emotional day for Daemon. And then on top of all that, when Rhaenyra tells him, casually, that 'oh, that big secret that we passed from King to heir through the whole bloodline...', the fact that Viserys never told him. He never named him Prince of Dragonstone. Daemon was never Viserys' heir, ever, in his mind. And I think it just shatters him. And I think it's not a... It is an act of violence against Rhaenyra, but it is a lashing out of a wounded man, and it's the only way that he knows how to express it. And the way we always wrote Daemon and his, uh, complicated, let's say, relationship with Rhaenyra was that he really does see Rhaenyra as an extension of his brother. And I think there is a part of Daemon that is in love with his brother. In maybe not a sexual sense, but in a 'I need to have it be a part of me'. And because he couldn't have that, that's a large reason why he pursues Rhaenyra. So, in that moment, I think it's all those things coming together in confluence. Perhaps in that moment where he just lashes out, he sees Rhaenyra as a further extension of Viserys. Because he can't put his hands on Viserys, that's the next best thing.

Well hi there, friends!
Hope you had a majestic weekend in which nothing emotionally devastating happened to you! Thanks for stopping by, and welcome to today’s episode of:
🔥 NO ONE’S ALLOWED TO BE SINGLE: THE SERIES 🔥
the show where we pair the spares! Because sure, people can and do find emotional fulfillment in life without a romantic partner and it’s a very good thing for media to showcase more stories in which a character’s positive function has nothing to do with romance.
But when you’re a gross romantic mess like me, you’re gonna do some nonsense anyway!
Let’s meet today’s subject for datehood!
👏👏👏
Tumblr media
View! ❤︎
Youngest of the Wanichakarnjonkul brothers and literal sunshine baby, View has expressed a keen interest in girls, but seeing as his brother is a bi icon, we at Bisexuals R Us have decided that View could be, too, so we’re gonna find him a potential boyfriend. Whee!
(Isn’t fandom fun? 🥳)
View’s a sweetheart and a snuggler, and he’s also the loudest and the brashest of the three Wanichakarnjonkul brothers. For what seems like a big chunk of his life, his parents were too occupied with work and his oldest brother too pressured by expectations to pay much attention to him. As a result, View was closest to the chronic middle child Win, the only one who cared enough to make time for him, drive him to school, and praise him when he did well. He seems to be hiding the full scope of his loneliness for most of the series.
By the end of Between Us, View’s family has accepted that they have issues and seem willing to work them out, but with the parents still running a massive resort chain, Wan living in Chonburi, and Win about to graduate and move to London for a two-year graduate program, View’s going to be on his own even more than before despite his family trying their best to be better for each other, and he’ll be without the family member he’s closest to.
Seems like a prime opportunity for View to find himself a boyfriend, don’t it!
Let’s peruse the candidates!
• Thiu (My School President)
Tumblr media
Student council member and all-around swell dude, Thiu is the utterly loyal best friend of his school’s president. He’s also one of the least judgmental characters in his series, willing to follow Tinn into student council and instantly reshape his perception of Tinn’s crush on Gun after a brief bit of exposition. He is, in fact, a Good good boy.
He’d be the perfect partner for someone who’s been alone, someone who could use some loyalty and support. He also comes with a giant friend group of loud, good-hearted idiots who’d never let a boy go hungry. Plus, he’s not in a club that forbids dating.
After listening to Tinn wail and bawl into his ear about his crush on Gun for literal years, Thiu could do with a crush of his own. Especially if that crush is just as much of a sunshine baby anime protagonist as Gun is. Tinn will be amused for the rest of forever, and Thiu wouldn’t mind it. Much.
Here’s how I see them:
“Don’t eat that,” Thiu says. “Trust me—it’s a week old.” He kicks the paper plate of barbecued pork slices into the garbage can beside the low table, wrinkling his nose.
“Six days isn’t a week, Thiu!” Pat yells from behind the drums, his face the picture of mortally offended.
“It’s still gross, though,” Gun admits. “Why didn’t we throw it out?”
“It was pickling,” Win says.
“Molding,” Sound corrects.
View spends the next thirty seconds watching Win and Sound squabble over the difference between molding meat and pickling meat, and he doesn’t realize how wide he’s grinning until Thiu rests an elbow on his shoulder. He tips his chin up and enjoys being the focal point of someone’s attention in such a chaotic space. He joined student council without much idea of what he was doing, and Thiu spotted him quickly, a kindred spirit without much direction in life but a vast fondness for it just the same.
“Wanna go get food that’s edible?” Thiu asks.
View says, “Can we come back?”
They’re supposedly checking in on all the club activities, and Tinn clearly has this one covered by the way he’s merrily simpering at Gun from the bench by the wall, but the energy in the room is infectiously bright, and View feels it down to his toes.
Thiu’s smile warms. He dips his fingers into View’s hair and ruffles vigorously. “Sure. Your treat.”
“What? Why me? Thiu! Thiu!”
• Wat (The Eclipse)
Tumblr media
Pressured by his family to become an engineer instead of attending film school, Wat spends most of his series struggling to build the confidence to follow the path he’s dreamed of. He’s a loyal friend like Thiu, not to mention perceptive and frank with his emotions and opinions. He’s also fair and thoughtful.
Confidence is something View has in spades, and he’d be a relentless cheerleader for someone with passion who needs a push and a supportive hand.
He’d benefit from Wat’s quiet consideration and companionship. Wat comes with a slightly smaller friend group, but an immensely loyal and kind one.
Here’s how I see them:
There are camera pieces on the table, and View picks up one of them to investigate. It looks like a lens, and he remembers that those are far, far too expensive for the casual way he’s handling it. With owl-eyed panic, he slowly returns the lens to where he found it. He’s already gone to his mother once this month for money to fix the computer he dropped; she might punish him by making him ask his father, and then he’ll have to throw himself out of a hot air balloon to mourn his broken dignity.
“What are you doing?” Wat asks. He’s in the doorway wearing a T-shirt, shorts, and a band keeping his hair away from his washed face, eyebrows lifted.
“I’m just curious,” View says. He’s aware there’s a hint of a whine there, so he beams instead. “Hey, what’s this?” He points to the lens, careful not to touch.
Wat studies him with a slow-growing smile. “That’s what I was saving up for when I met you. I want to add more long-range photographs to my portfolio.”
View nods eagerly like he understands why that matters. He and Wat may attend the same art school, but Wat has a passion and a direction that View’s never had. He glows when he talks like this, and View can only pretend he gets it because he likes to see that light in Wat shine.
“Want me to show you?” Wat asks, peeking at View as he assembles his camera.
Sometimes Wat seems so hesitant before sharing what makes him enthusiastic about life, and View doesn’t know why, but he’s determined to prove that at least with him, Wat doesn’t need to be anxious about judgment.
“Definitely! Just…don’t let me hold it for too long.”
• Non (Dark Blue Kiss)
Tumblr media
Now, I know what you’re thinking: NOOOOOOOOOOOOOO. And y’know what, fair! He’s a little kick-in-the-kidneys and he sucks and I spent the last few minutes searching for a screencap of him muttering, “Where are you, you malignant little pustule?”
But! Non’s serious flaws aside, he also has the most to grow. He’s a physically abused queer kid with a ragingly homophobic father whose wealth and power make him pretty close to untouchable by the consequences of his actions. Non’s shitty behavior in his series is a reflection of his upbringing and his current circumstances. Kid’s still in high school, and he’s clearly miserable.
Where I see potential in him is that he’s powerfully drawn to kindness. He sees Kao as safe, and he knows he doesn’t have a real shot because Kao is a lovely weirdo in love with his sweet dumbass boyfriend, so he tries to destroy their relationship. I don’t think he ever seriously thought Kao would love him; I think he was trying to force Kao to be in his life without offering the vulnerability someone like Kao would have happily responded to. If he had asked Kao for help instead of trying to manipulate his way closer, he could have had multiple strong allies: not only Kao but Pete and the whole friend group. He’s a wounded, confused little insect of a boy, but he has potential to be more with the right motivation.
Especially if someone kind and loud with a stubborn streak and a supportive (and equally powerful and wealthy) family behind him took an interest in him.
Here’s how I see them:
“Why do you keep sitting with me?” Non asks his congee. “People are starting to talk about you.”
View blinks and checks the tables around them. There’s one girl eyeing them, but on closer inspection of her lips moving, she’s trying to read View’s English T-shirt.
“I don’t think people care that I sit with you,” View says. “I think they got bored of the whole thing already.”
Non says nothing to that. He hasn’t looked up since View sat down and started asking questions about Non’s time behind the camera. The competition was all anyone talked about for a while, and Non walked the halls like foreign royalty on official visits. When Pete exposed his worst side for the world to see in defense of the man whose life Non nearly destroyed, the school body took back their adulation and sharpened it.
View watched it play out without an impulse to join in or prevent it. He’d never talked to Non before and he hadn’t cared about the competition enough to understand the fawning over the competitors. But when the rational critiques of Non’s behavior reached a conclusion and the students collectively ostracized him, the school’s few bloodthirsty homophobes smelled abandoned carrion and closed in.
View heard some of it in the hallways. He saw them gaining confidence when taunting Non got them the occasional sharp retort or frightened recoil. Hia Wan would step in and take them out. Hia Win would talk them down.
View took the third route: he made himself Non’s ally. Not because he liked him, exactly. It just felt right. It felt kind.
Non takes a bottled tea from his bag and rolls it across the table to View without looking at him. “Drink something,” he says, “or you’ll look weird just sitting there watching me eat.”
View feels a smile grow. “Okay.”

happy delayed gushiwensday, here's master Su Dongpo at his loudest and brashest. truly haofang in style

Su Shi (Su Dongpo)
Make an old man young again for now, headstrong, With a yellow hound leashed And a goshawk too, Brocade hat and a sable coat on As a thousand riders make the flat hilltop tall. The whole city's turned out; like a good governor I'll Shoot a tiger myself Like a second Sun Quan.
Intoxicated, with chest inflated and courage too See these grays coming in Is that a crime? Ride out with a pardon to Yunzhong, Feng Tang, ride out soon. My painted bow's ready to bend round like the moon, Sight northwest And shoot the wolf down.

Yunzhong: modern-day Togtoh county, Hohhot, Inner Mongolia
shoot the wolf down: the Heavenly Wolf Star, Sirius (lol), symbolized invasion and strife. in the context of Su Shi writing in the Northern Song dynasty, this would be Western Xia in the northwest (it didn't go well for the Song, as Li Qingzhao's satirical poetry will attest).
i'm too tired to write extensive notes for this one but you can find more of them on this bilingual post from Stanford's Global Medieval Sourcebook, my new fav resource for ci poems. Or just search the web, this is a pretty famous one of his and there's multiple English translations out there.
i think my translation is a fun one to read aloud, though. it's probably the closest i've gotten to a rhyming translation with this project (as the original is strongly rhymed too with all those -ang lines). it helped that i bounced it between scratch paper on tues night, to a notepad file, to an entirely new draft today on my laptop after some more research on my phone.

How do you imagine skyfire's reaction if he found out about who destroyed the flight frame's cities? Like the city of Vos?
Regardless of what his relationship with starscream was like, he killed himself socially and will not be accepted back
Honestly? I don't think the autobots ever tell him. It's not exactly something they're proud of (well, most of them, anyway). Pushing an entire species to the brink of extinction over night is a pretty tasteless thing to brag about, after all, even for the brashest of bots. Skyfire is operating under the assumption that Vos and the other 2 flying cities still stand. They're not lying to yim, exactly, just... choosing to let him believe what he wants and not bothering to correct him
He doesn't find out until some sort of altercation with Starscream, and he tries to talk his old partner down. Telling him that it's ok, Skyfire forgives him! He doesn't have to follow Megatron anymore, he's sure the bots will accept him!
And Starscream just. Explodes. Nearly rips him apart in a fit of vicious rage, screeching at such decibels Skyfire's glass parts crack. How dare he?! How DARE HE?! How dare Skyfire suggest Starscream betray his own kind and walk into the arms of the ones responsible for Vos's genocide?! How dare he suggest the seekers roll over and try to petition for refuge from the very people they need refuge from?! How dare he suggest that they all spit on Vos's memory like that, desecrate the memories of the millions of seekers that died that day?! Those monsters took a neutral city and bombed it to smithereens, unprovoked, wiping out more than 95% of their population in less than a day. They tore Vos and Helex and Kalis all down from their rightful places in the sky, one after another! These are the people Skyfire--miserable, slimy traitor that he is--chose to side with. He happily sleeps with the enemy and thinks he can manipulate Starscream into joining them?
Frag. That.
That is how Skyfire finds out. In a burning rage from Starscream, who's definitely crying as he rants and recounts everything the autobots did, cursing his name for lending his strength to the very ones who destroyed their home.
And Skyfire... he's in shock. Even after Starscream leaves him, face down in the dirt and bleeding heavily. He can't feel any of the pain from his injuries, his audials are ringing, and his optics stare a thousand miles into the distance.
The autobots... destroyed Vos?

MeriSnow is my favourite Disney femslash ship but there's like no content for them. Everyone likes pairing up Disney girls with a lot of similarities like Elsa and Isabela or Moana and Ariel and those are great too (especially Elsabela), but not enough people are seeing the appeal of pairing the softest and kindest and gentlest princess with the loudest brashest most aggressive princess.
It's like Flutterdash, okay. It's like Flutterdash except if they were both human and both princesses and both pubescent teens and both had mummy issues.
Do you get it. Do you see the vision.

I see ur kind of back in the eene fandom. Favorite and least favorite headcanons about the Ed's if your feeling up to it?
Lol hi. And yeah I'm here. Arcane has had such a relentless chokehold on my brain for the past year and a half and it's finally loosening it's grip (inb4 inevitable Season 2 promo shit lmao).
HCs for the Eds? Let's goooo-
HCs I like:
Ed
-I like the HC he has ADHD. It fits him well and has direct canon evidence. As an ADHDer, he fits a lot of the basic stereotypes.
-The kinda popular fandom idea that he will be involved in the filming or general crew of B-tier horror movies when he's an adult. Career path is honestly among the most likely. Can also dig him being an Art Bell-esque radio or podcast host of weird conspiracy stuff.
-Love when he's paired with May. I feel that they'd be the only Ed/Kanker combo that'd work imho.
-Even though he's a fun loving character at heart, I like the idea that we see more of that serious and angry side he showed in Little Ed Blue and BPS. Like as he gets older and more seasoned he learns to stand up for himself more. Not his default at all, but learns to put up with less shit.
-I don't see him caring much about gender or sexuality. I don't ever see him labeling himself or thinking much about it, but I also don't see him as fully straight or cis.
-Can see him really being into Astrology and star charts. He probably has an Ancient Aliens phase 😆
Edd
-Like to think he starts taking college classes in his Junior or Senior year of high-school. Probably gets offers from Ivy-League schools, picking not the one he wants to go to the most, but the one that leaves him closest to home.
-I think it was @eddbedandeddy that came up with the idea that he has trichotillomania, where one pulls out clumps of hair as a very maladaptive nervous habit. Love this and I fully support the HC that it's why he wears his hat.
-Dig the idea he goes on to become a doctor of some sort.
-Is a really bad cook. Underseasons and overcooks a LOT. Usually keeps it to cup noodles, sandwiches, or takeout if the responsibility falls on him.
-Definitely has big bi or pan energy.
-Though he can't cook, Edd is very good with gardening and plants in general. Super good at keeping them healthy and cultivating them.
-Mellows out a bit when he gets older. Still a tad neurotic but not a full blown nervous wreck.
Eddy
(So warning: Eddy is my favoritest, most special little guy(TM) so there is a little bias for how many HCs I have for him compared to the others. Sorry lol.)
-It's funny when you think about it, because in terms of Eddy's personality after BPS it's actually pretty nebulous to nail down. Despite being one of the brashest, most outspoken characters he's actually the most mysterious when it comes down to who he truly is. He hid behind a facade for the majority of the show's runtime, after all, so what he truly is like underneath that leaves a lot up to the imagination.
-HOWEVER, I HC Eddy returning to his Season 1 and early Season 2 personality after BPS, with a decent amount of self reflection and maturity tacked on. I think how he acted in Season 1 is the closest to who he really is at the core. A good example of how I see Eddy (as a teenager, at least), is that he would share a lot of traits with Amethyst from Steven Universe, I guess? Closest example I can think of, tbh.
-He's closeted gay kid. Home of sexual. 👬🏳️‍🌈🌈 I used to see him as a bi, but rewatches changed my mind a lot. (Part of it is that he's always been my favorite and I was projecting tbh.) It takes him till his mid-to-late teens to start to accept it.
-Excellent cook. His mom's side is 100% Italian in my personal HC and she and her side bestowed a ton of culinary knowledge on him from old family recipes etc.
-Piggybacking off this, I see Eddy being a line cook for quite a while if not as his staple career. I can also see him doing car sales and bartending and even working at a deli. Bounces around jobs a lot, but always is employed in some way or the other.
-He loves baking and is very good at it. Don't give him shit about it or he will cry in private.
-Eddy is ADHD like Ed, but on the more impulsive and moody side of the large spectrum ADHD consists of. He also is bipolar af.
-Is heavily into music in general, especially as he gets older. He also has a penchant for musicals and Broadway, but he WILL get defensive if you tease him for it. But yeah, music is his biggest hobby and interest by far.
HCs I don't like:
Ed
-That he's too stupid to live. Leave him alone, he's dim but functional.
-The idea he can't function independently from Edd and Eddy. He absolutely can and is his own person!
-When fanfics or works in general make Eddy and Edd act like parents to him. He's their equal 👏
-Anytime he's explicitly third-wheeled when Edd and Eddy are paired. You absolutely can write the former two paired up without excluding him.
Edd
-When the fandom makes him an uwu softboy. Stfu. He's a little asshole with a smart mouth and a truckload of sass. Erasing that makes him so BORING 😴
-The HC that he will 'outgrow' Eddy and Ed and move on from them. He's right where he belongs and they complete each other. Stop.
Eddy
-Where do I begin? Firstly, him acting the same exact way as he does in the show after what happened in BPS. The entire movie was explicitly about Eddy becoming a better person and learning his lesson. At least show some growth.
-Him becoming an even more ruthless and corrupt scammer as an adult. Paired with the above point, but still.
-Any HCs that he's heterosexual 🤢
-MAKING HIM TALL.
-Fanart that makes him skinny.
I could go on but those are the main ones. Ty anon!

I want to talk about Chain of Command.
So, someone needs to infiltrate a Cardassian military base, right? But also for some reason, at the same time you are doing black ops against the Cardassians, you want to do diplomacy with the Cardassians.
If you were a normal person, you'd contact Section 31 for the Black Ops, because they are actually spies, and then you'd get the Federation's best diplomat, potentially Spock, to head the negotiations alongside the Federation's best wordsmith, tactician, and fast-talker, Jean-Luc Picard.
But not if you are this woman:
Tumblr media
If you are Vice Admiral Nacheyev, you do none of that. You instead take the universe's brashest, loudest, and least duplicitous man, not to mention one of your best diplomats, and you send him along with the Fleet's best Epidemiologist, Beverly Crusher, who has about as much combat, tactical, and espionage experience as a bowl of oatmeal.
Tumblr media
And then, in your infinite wisdom, you take the Enterprise, which was staffed by a man who preferentially chooses candidates with discommendations for ethical disobedience, and you hand that ship over to this guy:
Tumblr media
Captain Jellico, a hard ass who hates everyone in the crew, and especially isn't very impressed with Riker. Because you know what a super great idea is during a time of war? Causing a morale break, on your goddamn flagship!
And then you make this face, when the flagship starts functioning poorly, and your black ops mission goes every bit as badly as you deserve for it to have gone:

Picard is captured, presumed dead. But he's not dead. He's with this guy, having the worst week of his life:

Meanwhile, on the Enterprise, during the negotiations, something shocking happens. The Cardassians tell Jellico that they have Picard as a dick power move, jeopardizing the negotiations.
And Riker, who is loyal to a fault, and one time backed a war criminal because of it, has a fight with Jellico, who refuses to ask for his REAL Captain back. So now you've got a flagship where your Captain is effectively a "lame duck" because a star ship in deep space survives on HOPE as much as anything else, and now you've got a whole senior staff resentfully mailing it in.
Oh, and you had no intentions of re-instating Picard because you thought all of this would be FINE and you could just retire the French hot-head to a desk if he lived.
And what I want to know is...
How. The Hell. Does this woman. Still. Have. A. Job.
