Synopsis:
Designer Bethany (Wagner) takes her career to the next level when she appears on TV to promote her MAP method: bringing Meaning, Abundance and Peace to one’s home. She also announces her home makeover contest, getting the attention of a little girl, who submits a letter about her dad Grant (Webster) that touches her heart. Bethany selects the child’s home, unaware her dad has no clue of the contest until Bethany and her camera crew arrive. Walking into an uncomfortable situation, she realizes Grant is attached to his house full of memories of his late wife and doesn’t want a makeover. But encouraged by his daughter’s enthusiasm, Grant slowly warms to the idea, and even begins to enjoy the process, not to mention Bethany. Even TV viewers see their chemistry and want more. However, Bethany is unsure a career can mix with a relationship, or if Grant is ready to open his heart again. Bethany and Grant each must let go of something to make any relationship work. She must let go of the idea that her career will stall if she lets love into her life, and he must release the notion that his heart isn’t big enough for both memories of his wife, and a future with someone else.

Mystery 101: An Education in Murder (2020)
Directed by Michael Robison
Written by John Christian Plummer
Starring Jill Wagner, Kristoffer Polaha, Robin Thomas, Preston Vanderslice, Dejan Loyola, Caitlin Stryker, Brenna O’Brien, David Lewis, Peter Bryant, Steve Bacic, Ashley Alexander, and Angela Moore
Premiered March 29, 2020 on Hallmark Movies & Mysteries
Tumblr media
Synopsis:
Professor Amy Winslow (Wagner) can’t believe her colleague, a Mark Twain scholar, is capable of murder, and yet there he sits in prison for injecting strychnine into the asthma inhaler of a professor who recently uncovered an early draft of Huck Finn at an estate sale. Determined to prove her friend’s innocence, Amy enlists the help of Detective Travis Burke (Polaha), whose predecessor is the very same cop who convicted Amy’s colleague. Now the retired police officer is stubbornly insisting his arrest should stand and he’s going to great lengths to see that it does. But Amy’s not the only one who thinks his conviction should be overturned. A young woman has arrived in town who is working on a book about the case, which is remarkably similar to a five- year-old unsolved murder involving a different poisoned professor who had just accused a student of plagiarism. Both murders certainly bring a whole new meaning to the age old saying “publish or perish.”

some underrated artists for y’all
this is gonna be a long post, obviously, so i’m putting it all under the cut. enjoy! all these artists have my seal of approval, as in, i absolutely love almost every song they’ve ever made, which is quite the achievement because i am very picky.
here’s a link to a playlist i’ve made out of all of the tracks i’m mentioning below!: (spotify) (youtube)
Skott
Tumblr media
you will hear me singing her praises until the end of time. Skott grew up in Dalarna, Sweden, and wasn’t exposed to mainstream pop music until she was a teenager. she actually started out composing soundtracks for video games, and her current music really reflects that style, even if it’s a completely different genre. now she makes beautiful, atmospheric pop music, and it’s my FAVORITE. her vocals are haunting, and her instrumentation even more so.
top fave tracks: Glitter & Gloss, Mermaid, This Vibe, Wolf
The Vincent Black Shadow
Tumblr media
they’re ancient. they haven’t released any new music since like 2011. BUT. BUT!! LISTEN TO ME. every song they HAVE released? an absolute bop. a total banger. i am in love with their sound. it’s a very wide-spanning mix of genres, self-described as “blending a visual style influenced by European cabaret of the 1930s with music that's a spirited gumbo of pop, punk, metal, and ska,” but don’t let that long list overwhelm you--it’s all very cohesive. take a listen for yourself.
top fave tracks: Stupid Intruders, Don’t Make Me So Mad, Dig Dig Dig, Metro
Faye Webster
Tumblr media
i don’t know what to categorize her music as? i’ve heard it classed as folk and R&B. well, either way--the first time i heard her music, i didn’t think i’d like it. but there’s a hypnotic quality about it that’s kind of addictive. it’s ALMOST country, y’all. she’s from Atlanta, Georgia and you can hear the yee haw influence. but it’s so soft and dreamy, you forget what you’re listening to.
top fave tracks: She Won’t Go Away, Give Me a Chance*, Room Temperature, Right Side of My Neck
*sorry to those listening to the YouTube playlist--couldn’t find a non-live version of this song!
The Unlikely Candidates
Tumblr media
there’s only one way i can describe their music, and that’s FRESH. The Unlikely Candidates make rock music that’s wonderfully melodic and expertly produced. you know what they sound like? they sound like Imagine Dragons if Imagine Dragons wasn’t overplayed and actually made creative decisions. also, their vocalist kind of sounds like Brendon Urie. just sayin.
top fave tracks: World in My Pocket, Call My Name, Danger To Myself, Reaction
Amaranthe
Tumblr media
you think i could make this post without recommending Amaranthe? they’ve been one of my favorite bands since 2015. i’ve been giving this schtick to everyone i meet. they make melodic pop metal, and it slaps. they have three vocalists: two clean, melodic vocalists, and one growler. Elize Ryd’s singing is literally the best i’ve EVER heard. their lyrics are really cheesy and don’t really make any sense, but honestly? their sound makes up for it so much. what i’ve learned from years of recommending them is that they’re an Acquired Taste, but why not try them out?
top fave tracks: Army of the Night, Amaranthine, Afterlife, Unreal

Rewatching Buffy 1x06
ah, the zoo, the first of the surprising attractions that Sunnydale has, considering its supposed small size and very real mortality rate
look, a bunch of bullies who aren’t Cordelia...wonder how long they’re gonna last
“this isn’t about looking at a bunch of animals; this is about not being in class” Xander’s got a fundamental understanding of the appeal of school trips
holy shit, is the bully in the yellow shirt Webster from Band of Brothers?
poor Principal Flutie, he’s just trying to help
what is this bullshit the zoologist is peddling?
why the demonization of hyenas? first the Lion King, now this...for shame
hyena!Xander vs human!Xander is a great example of how sarcasm can be mean vs fun based on the underlying tone
ok, I know they’re going for the whole ‘intense gaze that implies pack communication between those who are possessed by hyenas’ but what I’m getting is ‘eye-fucking’
you know, it’s a good thing nobody ever uses the library, otherwise they’d see all the weird shit that goes on, like Giles training Buffy to kickbox
incidentally, why is he training in a sweater vest? I know his whole aesthetic is ‘uptight British librarian’, but seriously
Herbert is adorable
I’m counting down the minutes until his death
Principal Flutie is surprisingly self-aware of how the older generation always thinks things were better when they were kids
“dodgeball. the rules are simple. dodge” well, this guy went to the Dean Winchester school of gym class instruction, though he has significantly less flair
this is a very unrealistic gym class: way too many people are participating
“god this game is brutal. i love it” this man...
Xander! How dare you be cruel to Willow! I know you’re possessed by a hyena, but I do not care; I will hurt you for hurting her!
RIP Herbert
it’s really well done how all the kids who are possessed not only dress differently, but walk and just generally move differently too
most obvious with Nicholas Brendon of course
“it’s terrible, he’s turned into a 16 year old boy. you’ll have to kill him of course” Giles, keeping it real
Buffy used ‘Scully’ as a verb!
“why couldn’t Xander be possessed by a puppy or some ducks?” because he’s already adorable Willow, and you wouldn’t be able to tell the difference
Xander, stop being rapey. please. this is awkward and painful and really uncomfortable and i. don’t. like it.
and here we have the morbid end of Principal Flutie, may he rest in peace
well, i guess it’s a good thing hyena!Xander was assaulting Buffy, otherwise human!Xander would have had to deal with the trauma of eating Principal Flutie
finally! someone remembered the weird-ass zookeeper!
leaving Willow to watch hyena!Xander: well, there’s no way this can go wrong
why the hell is this lady walking with her baby in the middle of the freakin night?! this is Sunnydale, do you want to die?
oh good, they didn’t go after her
surprisingly enough, leaving Willow to guard Xander didn’t go wrong; i’m proud of my girl, and ashamed i didn’t have more faith in her
well, i bet getting attacked by a bunch of scary teenagers and nearly having your son taken has put that couple’s marital problems into perspective
well who could have guessed? the strange zookeeper who went from being super creepy to oddly helpful is, in fact, a bad guy!
Yay! human!Xander’s back and immediately protecting Willow
zookeeper getting eaten by hungry hyenas is giving me some major Lion King vibes
Giles is a good bro, not telling Buffy and Willow that Xander does, in fact, remember everything
ok, fun episode end and all, but where are those other four kids? you know, the ones who are gonna need major therapy after having Eaten The Principal!

I read that interveiw this morning and I was honestly so upset and uncomfortable, as a pansexual I think some of the things he said were just wrong
So I’m sorry I took so long to answer this. I did read it when I received it, but I needed to be able to sit down and think about it when I answered it; because sexuality is a big deal and a big part of people’s lives and I feel that it’s important that I answer this with that in mind.
I am not pansexual (I am actually on the ace spectrum, probably demi- or grey-), because of this I don’t really have much say in what defines pansexuality. I do know that many people, who do identify as pansexual, appreciate Brendon saying that he is pan and now feel like they have a famous person that they can look up to that shares their identity. I also know that Merriam-Webster defines pansexuality as, “of, relating to, or characterized by sexual desire or attraction that is not limited to people of a particular gender identity or sexual orientation”, which seems to be what Brendon feels based on that interview and many livestreams. As I said though, I am not pan, and on top of that I cannot define what someone feels, only they can do that. So if you feel like that does not fit your definition of pansexual, I am not here to tell you you are wrong.
I was also slightly uncomfortable with this interview, but mostly just because it felt like the interviewer was forcing Brendon to label his sexuality (which he has avoided doing many times) and leading him to answer things, putting ideas in his head or words in his mouth. I just didn’t like the way this interview was conducted.
I am interested to hear more about what exactly upset you and maybe you could educate me on what pansexuality is/means to you. If you want to keep sending anons, that’s fine, but you can also message me, if you’d like. I’m here to talk. That goes for anyone else too. 🖤

do you think brendon is a good writer/lyricist?
He’s good. He’s witty. I mean, given the writing credits on the last three albums – especially DOAB – I’m not really sure how much of a song is him and how much of a song is actually Jake Sinclair (his producer/songwriting partner on DOAB).
But going with the impression that it’s all 100% his work, he’s no Bob Dylan. I mean, he’s like… he’s good at what he does. He’s been doing it for 13 years so he has to be good now. I don’t like his work on Vices and Virtues, you can tell he was struggling writing that album and wasn’t too sure if he wanted to just copy Ryan’s Webster Thesaurus’ approach or just write what he wants to write. I guess that’s why I like the bonus tracks more like Bittersweet because he shines more on them as a lyricist.
TWTLTRTD is just meh. It’s like an attempt at being ~edgy~. Not a fan.
DOAB is definitely his best work, imho.
If I had to compare him to like others in his category, Gerard and Pete blow him out the water as lyricists. Gerard is a master at really evoking the right emotions and setting up the visuals in your mind. There’s a reason why The Black Parade is considered to be one of the greatest rock albums of the 00s. It’s also why the band as a whole can really come with with really cohesive visuals to match the music and tell stories.
Pete is not much of a storyteller as he is good at writing wit and infusing pop culture references in a way that isn’t glaringly obvious. It works and the songs are fun to sing along to. And because he’s good with the wordplay, Patrick can really come into the studio and write great music to bring the lyrics to life.

Cottonwood Roots has been published on Elaine Webster - http://elainewebster.com/cottonwood-roots/
New Post has been published on http://elainewebster.com/cottonwood-roots/
Cottonwood Roots
The nomad lifestyle has its appeal—never staying in one place too long to become attached. Non-attachment is the source of many spiritual and religious disciplines. Learn what you need to learn, do what you need to do and move on—hopefully with some acquired growth and knowledge. At some point, however, there’s a return to home—sometimes a home you’ve never been; at least not in this lifetime. That’s where I’m at, wondering how to best use this time—the final quarter.
I’ve been drawn to Native American culture since childhood—growing up in New York City, I had my eye on the ground—mostly concrete and blacktop with the occasional grassy park where I found what I was sure to be “Indian Paths”. I spent countless hours at the Museum of Natural History seeking solitude amongst the dioramas and Native American village displays; progressing to the Amazon Rain Forest and the jungle sounds brought alive over speakers when a certain button was pushed. That’s what the east coast means for me—a place to leave for adventure—go west youngster. So, I did, as I had (I believe) in some previous life.
So, what. So, this. There is something happening on the Colorado Plateau, a desert region roughly centered at the Four Corners region of the southwestern United States. Of equal significance are the low deserts that extend to the Mexican border. Geographically, earth upheavals are apparent in every canyon, mesa, desert, and forest. Change has happened here, and it will again. No surprises, except that as the Hopi believe, this area, as it relates to our planet, is the center of the universe. Which is what draws me to the three Hopi mesas and their (almost) secret society of spirit guides.
A Kachina, or more appropriately, a Katsina is a doll of sorts, carved from the roots of the cottonwood tree. As I am in learning mode, I suggest for full explanations and better understanding that you read the many books and articles on the subject. My goal here is to show off (surprise!) what has come to me and is relevant in my home (as protection), my life and spiritual growth. I have so much more to share; most of which will have to wait for future blog posts.
Here is the gang (which came together from different carvers and sources) as they stand guard above the mantel.  At the center are a male (Sa’lakwtaga) and female (Sa’lakwmana) pair of what were described to me as Monsoon deities. The feathers represent the rain and those can only be lightning protruding from their heads. Water, as for most peoples, is of paramount importance to the Hopi. The figures bring healing and cleansing to our home. To the viewer’s right is a young warrior with a snarky smile carved by a young carver, Brendon Kayquoptewa, who credits his father, Robert Kayquoptewa and older brother, Samuel as the early influences in his carving. I was drawn to this piece because of his youthful approach to life’s battles. On the left, the snake dancer, is not so much a spirit, but a participant in the Snake Clan’s ceremonial dances. I take snakes as my personal totem. I have maximum respect for their ability to strike, yet they prefer to avoid unnecessary confrontation. I also find them uniquely beautiful. Those of you afraid of snakes, probably wouldn’t like me much either.
Finally, on both ends are two cradle dolls carved by two different artists Paul Tso (simple style) and Myron Begoshwytewa (with braids). They are both Grandmother Katsina (Hahai-i wu-uti) or Happy Mother who shares with Crow Mother the title of Mother of all the Katsinam. Her husband is said to be Eototo and her children are the monsters, the Nataskas. She appears during the Bean Dance (Powamuya), the Serpent Ceremony and at Home Going (Niman). She speaks in a high voice and is very talkative. Flat carvings of the Grandmother Katsina are given to Hopi infants. As a young girl matures, she receives larger, more detailed forms of the Grandmother Katsina. I relate to these two as my soul in its infancy waiting to bloom.

Chait in charge as FNB Maties slay FNB Wits!
The metronomic boot of FNB Maties flyhalf Jordan Chait proved to be the key as his team battled past a fierce FNB Wits team at the Danie Craven in Stellenbosch on Monday night.
In a performance which was more power than pace the platform was laid by the FNB Maties heavies. Hooker HJ Luus crossed twice, once in each half, and owes his fellow tight-forwards a beer or two for their commitment and hard work.
It was the visitors who stunned the passionate home crowd when FNB Wits scrumhalf Krappies van den Berg opened the scoring. Fullback Christian Humphries added the extras and the FNB Maties had to quickly respond, which they did when Luus went over before Chait drew them level with his first kick of the match.
Nippy scrumhalf Logan Bonzaaier, a postgraduate student in financial planning, was on the receiving end of a movement which saw the veteran winger Duncan Saal show why he was named the Back That Rocks in 2018 on the way to a 7-point try. Unfortunately for the 17 000 fans in attendance this was the last try that had any running involved, as the two teams slugged it out like two heavyweight boxers.
Hooker CJ Conradie was on the receiving end of some slick passing and went over in the corner to draw FNB Wits within two points, and at 14-12 they knew they were in with a chance. Chait concluded the first half scoring with a penalty and at 17-12 the game was still very much in the balance.
The FNB Maties earned a penalty to open their account after the break and Chait obliged with another beauty of a kick.  Luus grabbed his brace shortly thereafter as the men in maroon started rumbling, but credit to the gutsy visitors from Johannesburg who never gave an inch on defence. The FNB Wits team didn’t allow the FNB Maties to get out of third gear and will definitively be in the running come the business end of the season. Chait converted the try by Luus and kicked another penalty to take the score out to 30-12.
Conrade emulated his opposition hooker and also grabbed a brace but at 30-17 the victory remained elusive. Chait kicked a final penalty to make the score 33-17 and after some resolute defence on their own goal-line the FNB Maties sent the visitors homewards with nothing to show for their eighty-minute effort.
FNB Maties next face local rivals FNB UCT at the Green Mile while FNB Wits host FNB CUT in Johannesburg.
Steers Kinging Moment: Kwanele Ngema (FNB Wits) FNB Player That Rocks: Chris Smit (FNB Maties)

Trinidad and Tobago Knightriders (TKR) has jumped to the top of the standings in the current Caribbean Premier League (CPL) tournament after winning their third match in a row with a four-wicket victory over the Barbados Tridents at Kensington Oval, Barbados on Sunday night.
Chasing 129 for victory, Brendon McCullum’s swash-buckling half century lifted TKR to 130 for six in 16.3 overs.
The result elevated TKR to the top of the standings with eight points on net run rate with four wins and two losses from six matches.
The Knightriders got off to a shaky start as they were reduced to 37 for 3 in the sixth over with Chris Lynn (eight), Sunil Narine (13) and Colin Munro (14) all back in the pavilion.
However, McCullum led the recovery with Captain Dwayne Bravo.
Tridents started off badly as they were reeling at 3 for 3 runs with off-spinner Khary Pierre leading the way with two wickets and a run out.
Pierre got the wickets of Dwayne Smith for two and Steve Smith for a duck and ran out Sharmar Springer also for a duck all in the second over.
Jason Holder and Shai Hope started rebuilding the innings slowly but could only put on 17 before leg-spinner Fawad Ahmed bowled Hope for 42 before Tim Webster was stumped for one.
Holder was caught and bowled by Bravo as the Tridents only got 13 runs off the last two overs as they limped to 128 for eight.
In the other matches Jamaica Tallawahs ended a three-game losing streak when they defeated St. Lucia Stars by 21 runs the night before.
The St. Kitts Patriots got their second win when they beat Guyana Warriors by one run at the Darren Sammy Cricket Ground in St Lucia last Friday night. Amazon Warriors made 140 for nine, while the Stars made 141 for four off 18.1 over.
The Stars are now at the bottom of the table with two wins from eight matches and faced elimination for the competition.
