Baby

When We Were Young Masterlist Summary: Louis tells YN that he is going to be a Dad.

"I'm gonna be a Dad...she's having my baby"

YN wasn't sure if the words that stumbled out of Louis's mouth were a joke or if this was just extra confirmation that there was no future for them. She knew she was the one who ended their relationship a couple of months ago, but being together for four years she never expected him to move on so quickly, she couldn't even do the math - it was all too much. Sure, she had seen some photos of them together, leaving parties and on nights out, but she wasn't expecting him to have a baby with another woman.

She could feel the lump in her throat rise and the tears threaten to spill, but she fought hard against them and instead smiled brightly at the boy she loved in front of her "I..um..I'm sure you'll be an amazing Dad..congratulations Lou..I wish you both all the best with your little family" the words made her feel queazy, sure she meant them but that did that make it hurt any less? No.

"YN..you don't need to pretend you're not angry at me..in fact, I want you to shout and scream at me telling me how much of an idiot I am" Louis pleaded, rubbing his face in stress.

YN shrugged her shoulders "What's the point in doing that?...It's not going to change anything...you're going to be a Dad and have a family regardless of how I react"

"You..I..uh.." Louis stuttered before he tried again "Me and Briana..we're not together..we never were-"

"Lou..look it's none of my business"

"But you deserve to know...it was just a drunken thing..you know it was never meant to be more than that...we're not gonna be a family...we'll co-parent when the baby is here" Louis explained.

"Sounds like you've got it all planned" YN politely smiled, before she stood from where she sat and made her way towards the door.

"YN..wait" Louis called after her, making her freeze when he spoke the next few words "I love you..you know that"

She wanted to turn around her and run into his arms like a fairytale but it just wasn't the case. So she took a deep breath and turned to face Louis with a sad smile "I'll always love you Lou...but I just don't think we're meant to be any more"

Before Louis had the chance to respond, YN left the room heading towards her dressing room where she could let her tears flow freely. As she opened the door, she was taken back when she saw Harry pacing up and down, almost like he was waiting for her.

"Harry what are you doing..you knew he was going to tell me?" YN asked as she saw his sympathetic smile.

"Thought you could do with a cuddle" Harry spoke, opening his arms for her. That's what YN loved about Harry, he always knew when someone needed a shoulder to cry on. She was so grateful to have another brother.

After YN had cried into arms and had now calmed down slightly "There was so much I wanted to say in there"

"How about you tell me instead..you know so you get it all out" Harry suggested.

"He said she was having his baby..and then rambled on about how they're not together..I told him it's none of my business" YN shook her head as she thought about their conversation "What did he expect..me to magically jump back into his arms..I don't think so...I bet she faked her orgasm" YN said so bluntly, making Harry choke on his breath.

"Fucking e'll YN" Harry laughed.

"Sorry..I shouldn't have said that..I don't want to be mean but Louis a prick"

"Hey..you're just hurt and angry right now...which is understandable...we all say things in the moment"

"Could be a good song you know" YN changed her whole mood.

Harry raised his eyebrows "How?"

"I don't know" YN thought for a moment, before she spoke again "What about something like...She's having my baby..It's none of my business..She's having my baby..It's none of my, it's none of my...It's New York, baby, always jacked up...Holland Tunnel for a nose, it's always backed up...When she's alone, she goes home to a cactus..In a black dress, she's such an actress"

"I like it...maybe it could be one for next album" Harry said with a sarcastic smile.

"Uh..yeah not going to happen..I think it would be pretty obvious" YN laughed, until she thought of an idea "It's all yours though..if you ever want to use it"

"Oh thanks" Harry sarcastically laughed at her suggestion "Not sure what I'm gonna do with a verse about you calling Louis and his baby mama out"

"Just don't forget to put me in the credits" YN joked.

Hi! Why do you think BG is still going? I see a lot of people saying that it is an alternative to Louis having to have a beard but in my opinion it's much worse to use a child who has no say in the matter and will probably grow up damaged than a beard who has signed up for the job and is getting paid well. A child is not needed to maintain a closet. So with that in mind, why do you think Louis is stuck with Freddie?

Okay you are like the fourth or fifth anon who has insisted that a child is not a way to maintain a closet and while I... guess I get where you are coming from I feel like everyone asking this seems to be forgetting that this isn't just... a decision Louis made in 2022.

Here lemme just include a portion of this ask and then I'll ramble behind a cut

That anon is 100% right btw. This decision was made in 2015 (tbh I think it was probably made in late 2014 but that's a whole separate talk) by music execs who wanted something flash in the pan for their boyband that was about to lose one of their most well known members (Zayn - and no this isn't blaming Zayn for BG I am lying the guilt very FIRMLY on the feet of Sony/Syco/Modest/Simon for this one). What happened after has just been... a shit show.

I don't think Louis knew there was going to be an actual fucking baby involved until October when Belfast happened and when the baby was born I don't think anyone knew how long this was supposed to last. They took almost two weeks to file the birth certificate. I think they were trying to figure out something else to go forward with it, and they were trying to muddle all of what was coming out so fandom didn't know top from bottom.

They ultimately decided to file the birth certificate and go the paternity route and everything was then meant to lead up to a paternity test denial. And then Jay got diagnosed with cancer in March 2016 and everything went off the rails.

I think decisions were made back in 2016 because of that so Louis could have the privacy he wanted for his mother and BG was put on the back burner of his mind. I think Louis did two years of hard pap work for BG before he decided "okay I'll move back to London and let this baby thing die off, I'll focus on making music I want to make and I'll figure it all out later." He did Xfactor like Simon wanted in 2018, he avoided LA like a plague, and he tried to get Walls made.

I think he might have felt he found a good balance ignoring everything by 2020 and not mentioning it and then Briana had to go and get fucking sued because she scammed some dude for fake boobs. I'm not expecting anyone to remember this but I went on a VERY LONG RANT about how dangerous of a position that put Louis and his business companies in because it involved taxes and the IRS. I would not be surprised that that moment basically made Louis go "okay well I can't just let things lie because then I'll have a bigger mess on my hand and stuff will creep up that I can't control that involves my closet" and so he has taken back over the stunt so he can have control over his closet.

Here's basically where I'm at and you can agree or disagree but this is what it is: Louis ending BG without coming out would be very difficult. Someone asked me "what do you mean babies are part of the closet" and it's kinda like... a baby is like the ultimate proof to the heterosexual world that you are heterosexual. You have had verifiable sex with the opposite sex. The nuance of how that all happens is lost in part of the bigger heterosexual picture. If you remove the baby from the equation you are now left with "Turns out Louis Tomlinson isn't the dad of the baby his fans never thought was his because they think he's gay and in a relationship with Harry Styles." And the fact that they have let it go on longer and longer just makes the fact you can't end it without forcing him out of the closet very difficult.

Especially if they don't have another section of the closet to fill that piece. AKA... he gets engaged or married to his long term girlfriend. Because what most people try to accomplish with their closets is that people don't go snooping around it. And losing BG would cause people to do that with Louis. "oh that baby was fake what about your relationship? oh you and this girlfriend have been together for how long and you guys never post anything normal or have gotten married/engaged? huh... weird"

And if he is trying to remove having a public girlfriend from his public persona, which I think he is, the only piece of the closet he has left is BG. Because if he removes BG he has to do SOMETHING to re-enforce the heterosexuality. He'd need to up the girlfriend side of things. He might need to get "engaged" so that way people don't go poking around at his closet.

TL;DR: BG is being used because it has been here. They missed the boat of ending the stunt at a time where it wouldn't have immediately outted Louis and now they have to use BG as part of his closet until Louis is able to come out. Which is his right to choose when he wants to come out. Does it suck for the kid? Verdicts out tbh but I'm not someone who thinks the kid really knows what's going on at this point outside of "oh hey I know this famous dude and go to Christmas with these people who are nice to me" and I also think when he's not with Louis - which is a lot - he's probably living his little six year old life with his mom and dad.

:D I wanted to ask - how do your detectives and their LIs call each other, do they use pet names, nicknames, full names?

Thank you so much for the ask Bunny! This is probably going to be overly overthought and detailed because that's what I do lol I'm also so bad at figuring out pet names. They sound fine in the real world and never seem right written out.

Ethan would be thrilled if Adam would just call him that since he calls the rest of the team by their first names without issue. Ethan can talk like a Southern waitress so something like a darling, sugar, or honey might sneak out with people he knows well. He does this with Adam accidentally and they both just stop and stare at each other followed by blushing and apologizing.

Not very many people get to call Bree by her nickname so it really does mean something when she lets UB do that. Mason calls her Bree but if he ever calls her Briana it will stop her in her tracks because it either means something very good or very bad is about to happen. I think she's more likely to call Mason something like 'handsome' over 'sunshine' and it's almost always as a tease.

Rebecca is the only person who calls Andie by her full name and if Mason ever calls her that after her asking to be called Andie, she is going to give him the biggest side eye. Andrea just sounds wrong coming from him and she doesn't like it. She calls him a long line of pet names that rotate based on how much she wants to annoy him at the time. But when they're having a quiet moment and she isn't thinking about it, I think she might go with something like a 'babe'. Kinda like "Hey, babe, will you hand that to me?"

Henry is my hardest one. Everyone just calls him Henry, that part's easy. He melts at Nate's pet name for him. Where it gets tricky is that he can be really shy and not very confident when it comes to relationship stuff. He would never in a million years call Nate by a pet name around other people that would catch other people's attention. It takes him a long time to be comfortable doing that in front of UB at the warehouse. It also makes him uncomfortable with how free Nate is with things like that because he feel put on the spot, like everyone is looking at them and judging them, especially his worthiness to be with someone like Nate. He does have a pet name for Nate and it feels special when he uses it because Nate knows he only does it when he's in his comfort zone. I just haven't figured out what that name is yet.

It’s always the same with Freddie is it not? “He came to my show” Naturally he was in the audience with fans to see and even mentioned by Louis on stage so we knew this. (Didn’t refer to him as son though lol, couldn’t confuse the poor kid so ‘little lad’ he was referred to of course).

“He likes surfing” Well he lives in LA and isn’t he pictured by Briana’s family in pics of him surfing/at the beach? Then if you don’t pay attention to that family like I don’t so wouldn’t know about that, you’d still know about the surfing anyway since his sisters posted Christmas pics F with his surfboard. Killing 2 birds with one stone there btw. Needed updated pics since their last ones with him are probs from when he was no older than 2. Got their photoshoot done so they can reuse pics of him from that Christmas for the next few years till the next visit.

The Mac and cheese mention was random but also not since kids love that food anyway and Freddie probably has eaten it round Louis so seems like a good time he thought (or was encouraged to bring him up) Doubt he cooked it for him though. Wouldn’t surprise me if we get yeah took the little lad to the pier/arcade/playground since we’ve had pics of those. Good credible stories that fans would buy since there’s images online if you look.

Just seems like he rarely sees him and the stuff he usually mentions about Freddie are stuff we’d usually already know. What about his favourite subject in school? His best friend? His hopes and dreams. How does your son feel about Oli having to be there whenever you’re there Louis? Louis likes to bring F up so much I’m surprised he’s not brought up all that and the kids life story whilst he’s at it. But then again he obviously doesn’t know it so has to stick to the script aka the stuff we’ve been privy to, so when he brings up F being at the concert fans can go aww that actually happened coz I saw it how sweet. Weird how we’ll get some print interviews where there’s no kid mention then all of a sudden we get those video interviews and it’s all “Fred my little lad, I’m his DAD!!”

Great point. There's no depth to the things he say, as much as he's trying to bring it "organically". It's always the most irrelevant and superficial things, and it's never truly spontaneous.

The Understudies, The Betrayal Of Ben

“Look, Ben…it’s not like I planned it, it just sort of hap-“

“Klaus…please stop talking.”

Klaus frowned as he looked at the brother he was closest to, “I mean…you think you’re upset, imagine how Briana feels…she went to support the band even after they kicked her out, and then Danielle kisses Diego…that’s ro-“

“Klaus…”

“Right,” he agreed, nodding his head, “I just…I couldn’t not tell you…you’re my brother.  My compadre…my best friend. My-”

“Klaus…maybe you should go…I think I just want to have some time to myself.”

“Yeah…right…sure,” he agreed, feeling bad that he’d told his brother about his girlfriend cheating on him, “that’s a lot of information for anyone to take in, let al-“

“Klaus…”

“YEAH, WELL HE’S LYING,” Danielle screamed at her boyfriend as he confronted her, “HOW ABOUT THAT?”

“Dani…why would Klaus lie about that?”

“Because he hates that we’re dating!” she said quickly, “he’s always hated me.  He’s always been against me, from day one.”

“No he hasn’-“

“Hasn’t he?” she asked, “how about when we were eight, and he had a ghost haunt me for a week?  Or when we were eleven, and he had a ghost read my diary and then he told everyone all my secrets?”

“Dan-“

“He’s been trying to break us up ever since we started dating, Ben…”

Ben sighed, knowing that he wasn’t going to get anywhere from her.  But he did, however, know that if Klaus was telling the truth there was one other person, he could ask…and he knew that Diego wouldn’t lie about it. 

Diego looked defeated when he opened his bedroom door and saw that it was Ben standing there.  His shoulders slouched and he instantly looked away from him.  Behind the door Ben could spot a small box of what looked like Briana’s stuff. 

“Is it true?”

“L-look, if you’re he-he-here to yell at me, then you can g-go to h-h-hell,” he growled, stuttering out his reply.  He went to shut his door in Ben’s face, but he stopped it, “g-go away, B-b-Ben.”

“Look, I need to know if it’s true,” Ben said angrily, staring down his brother, “Dani said that she never kissed you, but Klaus told me tha-“

“Klaus!” he scoffed, rolling his eyes, “of course it was Klaus that told you.  Like him taking Briana’s virginity wasn’t eno-“

“Klaus had sex with Briana?”

Diego’s jaw tensed, “ye-y-yeah…he did…and she was so pissed off about the kiss that when I walked into the bathroom and saw him having sex with her, she slowed me down.  I could see everything…b-bu-but I couldn’t move…I had to watch Klaus have sex with m-m-my girlfriend.”

“She didn’t break up with you?” Diego looked away, and Ben noticed a box of her stuff sitting by the door yet again, his brother’s eyes falling sadly on it, “she did break up with you…”

“Go away Ben…”

“Ben…wh-what are you doing here?”

But Ben didn’t answer.  Instead, he swiftly swept Brianna up in his arms and their lips met.  She gasped into the kiss, both surprised, and taken back by Ben’s forwardness. 

Growing up they hadn’t really talked a whole lot, but he was always kind to her.  He taught her and Vanya all of the training that Reginald refused to give them when they were younger.  And at one point, she had even developed a small crush on him. 

That had all faded away though when they turned twelve, and he and Dani started dating.

But now, to have his lips on hers, was confusing at best.  And while she didn’t want the experience to end, she was quick to push Ben away. 

Her fingers raced to touch her lips, “Ben….wh-what was that for?  Why did you do that?  I-you-you’re dating Dani.”

“I-it’s something I should have done a long time ago,” he admitted, swallowing his nervousness, “I-I always had a crush on you, but Dani told me you didn’t like me like that, a-“

“What?”

“When we were kids,” he admitted, nervously rambling through it all, “I helped you and Vanya train all the time…it was-it was because I liked you…but Dani said that you liked Diego, and-“

“I had a crush on you then too…”

“You did?” he asked.  Ben looked at her, his heart racing as she nodded, “c-can I kiss you again, Bri?”

She nodded once more, and he instantly swept her up into his arms all over again.

“I think I’m in love with you…” Briana’s heart stopped as she looked at Ben.  He gave her a soft look and his hand reached up to brush some hair behind her ear, “I think I’m in love with you, Briana.”

“Ben, you can’t jus-“

“I’ve known it since we were kids,” he said softly, pulling her closer to his bare chest, “we-I-I just…we’re manipulated by everyone around us, Bri…”

“T-they our family, Ben…”

“Run away with me,” he begged, “I-I’ll leave the group.  We’ll leave the Umbrella Academy behind…it’ll just be the two of us.  No Reginald.  No Dani or Diego.  No Allison or Luthor or-“

“What about Vanya and Klaus?”

He smiled, his hand gently taking hers.  He pressed a soft kiss to her knuckles, “oh…we’re not abandoning Vanya…or Klaus…they’re stuck with us.”

She giggled, but that quickly faded, and a frown placed itself on her lips, “Ben…th-this is all happening too fast…we-we have to think it through.  I-this all…I-I’m not a replacement for Dani, you know.  I’m not her.”

“I imagined it a million times when we were kids,” he said thoughtfully, “me and you running off and never looking back…”

“Ben…”

“Think it over…we have one final mission tonight…and we’ll be back tomorrow…if you want to run with me…we’ll never look back.”

“I don’t need to think,” she said quickly, “i-I want to run away with you Ben.”

“One more mission!” he promised.

Ben regretted saying that he’d do one more mission. 

Everything was going sideways. 

The dynamic was off. 

Luthor was barely leading anyone. His mind was caught up in how Allison had rejected him yet again.   And Diego had a chip on his shoulder from Briana still.  Klaus was high.  The only ones who were trying were Ben and Allison. 

“SON OF A BITCH!” Ben’s eyes shot to Diego’s and then back to his own uniform which was staining with his own blood, “ARE YOU SERIOUS?”

“BEN MOVE!” Diego growled, trying to throw another one of his knives past his brother.  It barely missed him but went into a henchman’s arm behind him.

“THIS IS LIKE PARIS ALL OVER AGAIN!”

“IS NOT!”

“IS TOO!”

“WOULD YOU TWO IDIOTS STOP FIGHTING?”

“Let’s just get this over with,” Ben growled, glaring at Diego, “stop messing up and we can go home.”

“Some of us don’t have anything to go home to!” Klaus said in a daze as he took a punch from another henchman.  Diego launched a knife straight into the man’s throat, “HEY!  I was sort of winning”

“Winning best punching bag, maybe!”

“At least I’m an honest punching bag.”

“GUYS, STOP!” Allison demanded.  She turned towards the henchmen that were surrounding Luthor, “I heard a rumor that you all jus-“

But she was cut off when another guy hit her in the back, knocking her to her knees.

“Why so anxious to get back, huh?” Diego taunted, “it’s not like you have anything to go back to either.  Allison has Hollywood.  Luthor has space.  We just have that stupid ho-“

“I have Briana,” Ben growled, throwing his anger, as well as his powers towards his brother.  A tentacle swiped angrily past him, slicing a henchman in half, “last night I did what you were too much of a jerk to do.”

Diego stopped fighting and looked at his brother, “what are you talking about?”

“I’m in love with her, Diego,” Ben said quickly, turning towards another henchmen, “we’re leaving the Umbrella Academy.”

But none of the siblings were aware that one man was listening in on the comms.  His heart dropped at the thought of his favorite child running away with number six.  He pressed a button so that he was tuned in only to number three.

“Number three…it’s time…”

“I-what?”

She looked around at her siblings, a frown on her face as she rose to her knees, knowing what he was about to tell her. 

“You know what to do,” he reminded her firmly, “if any of you were to leave the group-“

“Reginal-“

“NUMBER THREE!” he commanded angrily, his hand harshly bouncing on the control panel, “YOU KNOW WHAT TO DO.”

Allison looked at her brothers who were bickering, knowing that she was going to be the reason today ended terribly.  Her heart broke, and a few tears slid down her cheeks, “I-I don’t want to do it…”

“Number three, you do it, or I’ll pull you from Hollywood so quickly yo-“

“I heard a rumor,” she whispered, the waves already echoing throughout the chamber they were fighting in, “that Diego killed Ben, but that it looks like the mission went sideways to everyone else and that we couldn’t save him.”

“Very good, number three.” He commended, “now take cover…a battle between two and six is sure to get ugly.”

Closing in on the end of an ABDL Trilogy I've been writing for years like... There will be more stories and I will probably even write more stories with Briana and Melody in them. Hey since you have Zak as Randy’s cuz, does Howard have any crossover cousins?

Well I always liked the idea of these two being siblings.

Granted, I don't imagine them particularly close, between disagreements on parenting styles and Mort thinking Honey could have done better than Harold (BIG argument there).

One of the things they still have in common though is their methods of stress relieve: extreme piloting.

Honey had her speedboats and Mort had his planes.

Mort (always the more anxious one of the two) generally found his confidence when flying. It still is one of his passions that he seems to practices given how well he piloted the Scare-a-Dactyl.

Honey's go to was her boats, but her injury prevented her from staying in the speed-boating game though as seen in canon. Part of why she gets in her funks like she does when she's distress is because she hasn't really found a replacement outlet.

(Rudy totally had a crush on her when they were kids and helped her steal her first speedboat)

Despite their distance, they still meet up either in Mellowbrooke or Norrisville every few years to begrudgingly keep in touch.

Neither is particularly happy about this.

Did I mention Mort doesn't like Harold?

The cousin's feelings towards other range from indifference to I-will-snap-your-neck-if-you-even-breathe-near-me.

No one really likes Brad, but Howard can always be counted on to trick him into doing something stupid.

Brad hates Howard and can't really stand Heidi, but she has hot friends soooo.

Heidi gets along with her littlest cousins best- but since she's almost always put on babysitting duty, their relationship is a bit strained.

Kick actually likes Heidi overall and tries not to get her in trouble, but there are stunts to be done.

Howard's laziness on the other hand drives Kick up a WALL- like how the heck can you sit still and do nothing for HOURS at a time???

Briana frankly could care less- Howard will at least do make up with her. (Heidi doesn't trust an 8 year old with eyeliner)

Gunther (since of course he comes to these things) gets along with everybody.

When they are at Norrisville- Howard tends to bail at Randy's house until the cousin's leave.

Once upon a time, I was so opinionated about Mandy Moore as Aerith and then I kept hearing her and as much as I love Briana, part of me wonders the eternal question of ‘What if’.

Depression & Destruction

I handle my thoughts in two ways.

Depression and destruction.

Whether my depression comes in the form of crying, being numb to everything, or sleeping 18 hours so I don’t have to think or deal with anything, it’s one of the ways I deal with my mind. Sleep is the easiest. There’s no thinking, no feeling. Just peace. I wonder what it’d be like to sleep forever.

The destruction usually comes hand in hand with the depression. Sometimes it comes in purposely destroying relationships with people because my mind tells me that they don’t care about me and I’m better off without them. I don’t know how true some of those thoughts are, but in the moment I believe cutting ties with people is the only solution. Other times it comes in a form of visible destruction. Deep red lines painted across my wrists or thighs. An on and off again form of destruction since middle school. A habit picked up from girls who thought it was cool. One thing that confused/annoyed me in deadpool 2 :

Wade, at yukio and negasonic after the big battle : you staying ?

Negasonic : no we're taking all the abused orphaned mutants home with the X-jet despite being underage ourselves because for some reason Colossus suddenly can't be bothered to do his job as senior X-man and want to play hookie with you for plot reason. Also because we can't be seen for more than thirty seconds straight in a scene.
