You guys do know that

The real fyodor went through a mock execution irl, and basically went through a moment where he almost died and got "resurrected" (mentally almost) he was sentenced to a mock execution for being a political criminal, and he truly thought he was going to die, until the very last minute where they revealed (the people in charge) that dostoevsky and everyone else sentenced to death that day weren't going to die and that they were spared. He was sentenced to death by Tsar Nicolas I, and was accused of doing many things including plotting against the tsar. Him along with 21 others. Then just before being shot an envoy from the tsar arrived and revealed that they're going to be sentenced to hard labor in Serbia instead. You can see what he wrote about this experience from notes from a dead house and this post.

He also spoke the last words of Jesus which someone else pointed out, and if you know anything about Jesus is that he wasn't dead for long, and he was resurrected (this is my phasing of it, please don't take offense).

Now that we know about this let me tell you about what I think is next:

- fyodor when he appears again, will be in a prison or some kind of environment like that again (mersualt or whatever you spell it).

- he would probably be revealed to be working for or with someone, after all he did quote Jesus (who is the son of God) and I assume the only person this could be is Leo Tolstoy cuz of his most popular work War and Peace.

Now note that Leo Tolstoy may not have any direct relations with Dostoevsky, however they did know of each other as this paper that states: "Nevertheless, when Dostoevsky died, Tolstoy wrote: “I never saw the man, and never had any direct relations with him, and suddenly when he died I realized that he was the very closest, dearest, and most necessary man for me.”

You are aware about how asagiri likes to fill things around, so in terms of relationships, they probably know of eachother or are closely related in bsd.

EDIT: it could be that "That man" fyodor was talking about Leo Tolstoy, after all there was some word about them being rivals ? "When Anna Karenina first appeared in Russia, Fyodor Dostoevsky put aside his feelings of rivalry towards Leo Tolstoy" I got it from this article, however I doubt how true the claim is. Still I don't want to throw this theory out the window.

okay, i was on my Ōgai brainrot, right?

and, as a person who's only at the 12th volume and at the first season, and knows way more than they should because they literally look for spoilers (I don't. i just happen to see stuff), i was thinking about that one scene where Ōgai replies to Osamu, saying that he reminds him of himself. and right after, he asks him why he wants to die so badly, right?

now .

i know that he most likely meant that Osamu reminds him of hims because he thinks they have the same way of reasoning, scheming and stuff.

but ... what if it was also because Ōgai had those thoughts, too?

okay, i perfectly know this sounds as dumb as ass, because Ōgai just doesn't seem the type and all that. but WHAT if ?????

Thank you for sharing your thoughts! Well, I'll try to share my thoughts as clearly as possible without spoiling that much.

I think it's possible Mori may have considered suicide, but I think the big difference between him and Dazai that if Mori did have those thoughts, it's not due to any particular overhanging heavy emotion.

If I'm not mistaken there's that sort of philosophy where suicide is not necessarily a sad thing - it's just an option on how you live (or cease to live?) your life. That's how I imagine he'd go about it.

What he and Dazai have similar, I think, is the thought that "life is meaningless." I genuinely believe neither truly take that to heart or anything but the consequence of that idea is, for Dazai, to disprove that and hopefully find some sort of meaning in it, regardless of how beautiful, ugly, or trivial that meaning may be, while for Mori it's just... a fact, I guess? HAHA idk that might have been a terrible explanation

Because like, him accepting and fully embodying the role of a mafia boss, the night of Yokohama, shows that he's not the soul-searching, wayward in life type. If anything, he's hella ambitious. Single-minded and determined to reach his goals.

OR he might have gone through the same "lost" phase, but his personality now shows the choices he's made to determining that "meaning" or totally disregarding that search all in all. After all, the real author Mori Ougai was considered a romanticist in terms of his literature (he had a feud with another dude who said that literature should be realistic af, so he argued that no! it can be emotional and fantastical if one wishes to - that's the beauty in art, right?) until his work eventually evolved to be more "cold" (as in very logic heavy, characters have little power or are made to follow the roles they are given, plus his homage to a lot of samurai/traditional values of the old pre-Meiji Restoration Japan).

I think I should mention that he did write a short story praising a Japanese army general's suicide (since he promised he'd do that if the emperor died as he lost him a major battle during the Sino-Japanese War, I think) since it embodied the spirit of the true samurai. (Title is The Last Testament of Okitsu Yagoemon) Natsume Souseki, on the other hand, had other thoughts... (wrote a whole novel, Kokoro).

Sorry for the info dump but given how much BSD likes to tie irl author things into its universe, I wanted to link my interpretation/thoughts on BSD Mori by using the real-life inspiration.

End of the Famine:

That’s the thing with Dazai. He always looks a second away from fading into thin air, like his being corporeal is only an exercise in politeness. Like his true form lies somewhere between nothing and less than.

Blind Eye:

If Huaisang had been born a brother of his, someone like Lan Xichen or Meng Yao, or even one of those boys she so liked to write about; perhaps then Nie Mingjue would have known how to talk to her.

“Kine once said you were like an animal,” Shiki said into the brim of his cup. It seared his lips, grounding, unsatisfying.

“Did he,” Orihara replied a little shakily.

“He called you vicious. Said that’s why I should be your contact inside Awakusu instead of someone else.”

“How peculiar.”

Shiki let out a thin smile. “He seemed to think I was ruthless enough not to get caught into your sick little games.”

“I don’t play with my food,” Orihara said, like a hum or a song. “If I’m playing then I don’t plan to eat at all.”

Mercy Bid:

For a very long second, he considered looking back. He thought about texting Kadota and telling him to leave him here. He thought about sitting by Izaya’s side until the sun rose and Izaya himself awoke again.

He thought about Celty back home. He thought about Izaya here.

“Yeah,” he replied, the word so heavy on his tongue that he almost sobbed with it. He tugged the door open to the darkness and silence of the hallway. “Sleep well, Izaya.”

All Excuses Aside:

Then the man smiled.

“Well, Izaya,” he said. The cheerfulness in his eyes which had till then made him look almost childish seemed to shift under Izaya’s very eyes. He leaned over the couch once more until his face was right above Izaya’s, and this time Izaya didn’t think anyone could have mistaken his expression for anything close to good-natured. “You’re very, very lucky to be alive.”

For the first time in years, Izaya felt those words to be true.

Withholding Care:

Gintoki was too busy warring with Kagura’s wandering hands to answer him. Eventually, and despite his best efforts to stop her, she managed to land one solid palm in his face with what felt like the strength of three grown men.

“You really are hot,” she said in victory, ignoring the grunt of pain he gave at the blow. “Hot enough to egg on.”

“To cook an egg on,” Shinpachi corrected.

Fires Find a Home:

Yoo Jonghyuk shoves his entire head into the crook of Kim Dokja’s neck and declares, “If I could tie you in place and make sure you never move out of my sight again, I would.”

That would be highly bothersome considering everything Kim Dokja still needs to do, but here and now in the silence of that abandoned building, with Yoo Jonghyuk breathing onto his skin and rubbing off against his hip, he can’t feel too strongly about it.

Surrender:

There is a bereft wife somewhere inside another moonlit room, and Natori is taking her naked husband to his bed.

If you’re asking me from a personal POV: I am an avid fan of slow build-up when it comes to romance and shipping. I headcanon for my personal canon that Dazai and Atsushi are not a couple yet. But they are in the phase were they figure out that they have feelings for each other.

I think that Dazai realizes this pretty fast, since he has a good perception of how other people think and is able to interpret their intentions correctly. Which means, that he is able to analyze Atsushi’s personality in a very short time and estimate for himself, if he would like him or not. Despite his outer clownish behaviour, he is amazed by Atsushi when he saved him, especially considering the dire situation Atsushi is in. There are some tiny things I absolutely adore, where you can read that Dazai at least thinks that Atsushi is adorable.

(”You SAVED ME from my attempted suicide no. 16527? How DARE you!? But also: Do you like to wine and dine with me?” And look at his smug smile here, damn.)

In the anime, when he asks Atsushi what he wants to eat and Atsushi answers that he only wants chazuke, Dazai blinks surprised and then giggles. And I just !!!! Man, that giggle is like a: “Haha, so cute! :3″ giggle.

(Bitch, why you’re giggling like a teenage girl? No one understands right now - Kunikida, probably)

During the investigation for the white tiger Dazai learns a little bit about Atsushi, realizes that he had a harsh past, that Atsushi himself thinks he’s not worth living. And that made a deep impression, because: “Damn there was a time where I thought so about myself and I’m still struggling with it :/” and “I. Need. To. Protect. This. Boy.”

Which then leads to his infamous: “I’m not into hugging men”, because: “Haha, nope, I am NOT going to develop SUCH feelings! v.v”  And oh boy, does it look like straight out of a shoujo romance in the anime, when Dazai captures Atsushi in his arms:

And Atsushi on the other hand is like: “Wow, this person is so nice, yet so weird at the same time! :) And this is actually the first time someone is N I C E to me! Who is he? What is he thinking? Wow, he’s so cool and confident, I wish that was me!”

(That is a totally heterosexual way to see someone, Atsushi. And Dazai, what is that soft look in your eyes, huh?)

And then when Atsushi has his entrance exam and he is willing to sacrifice himself for the sake of others, Dazai is genuinely surprised. And not many people are able to surprise Dazai, because he’s a schemer and thinks so far ahead.

That for me marks the moment where Dazai thinks: “Oh God, HE’S the one! *_* I want THAT ONE!” and “But that also means he’s WILLING to sacrifice himself for others! D: I need to protect him at all costs!” followed by: “I must suppress my selfish feelings, for everything I ever wanted and that is worth pursuing will be lost the moment I obtain it!”

I imagine that Dazai is constantly torn between his romantic feelings for Atsushi, which he T R I E S to cast aside and suppress, and the fact that you just can’t disconnect from your feelings like that. In the end they often get the upper hand of him.

Which results in him showing his affection in little and subtle things like: fooling around with Atsushi, trying to spend as much time as possible with him, secretly protecting him without everyone’s knowledge, just be there for him (even if that portrait of a father chapter was horribly written in general), very very very slowly opening up and showing a little bit of his true inner turmoil. And over the time this all gets stronger and he tries to honestly flirt with him, all under the disguise of clownery.

(And oh boy, THAT particular scene in 55 Minutes wasn’t even subtle anymore. I almost choked on my water).

I think Atsushi takes longer to realize his feelings for Dazai. He is overwhelmed that there are people who genuinely care about his well-being. So, in the beginning, I imagine that he sees Dazai as someone to look up to, since he never had someone like that back in the orphanage. But the more time he spends with Dazai the more he realizes that he can’t ignore certain things: He sometimes can’t sleep at night, he catches himself blushing for some reason, he is sometimes nervous and tries to impress Dazai.

Atsushi: Wow, Dazai is really cool! I am so grateful that he helped me and I’m so amazed by him!

Atsushi’s Brain: Nah, bro, you’re just gay.

Atsushi: Haha, that... isn’t true. I mean, it’s true that he’s... very good looking. But someone like Dazai would never fall for someone like me. Not even if I was a woman...

Atsushi’s Brain: Bro, that’s really just gay.

Atsushi: It isn’t!

Atsushi’s Brain: And what about THAT dream you had last night?

And then they get forcefully separated, because Dazai needs to go to prison. But their thoughts of each other and mental connection never disappears. Dazai slowly replaces the headmaster in Atsushi’s mind:

(I mean even ANGO realizes that there’s SOMETHING going on in Atsushi’s head. AND ALSO can we talk about how there is a HEART on the present Dazai is sitting?! Coincidence? That may be the case of course. But I don’t think so. In this essay I will).

And Dazai legit asks AKUTAGAWA (!!!) to protect Atsushi: “Hey, I’ll be going to prison soon due to personal reasons :) Can you please look after my future husband while I’m gone? Oh, and don’t you dare hit on him! >:| I know you’re slowly falling in love with him, too! EVERYONE IS! The competition is getting tiresome!!!”

So... yeah XD

I don’t think BSD’s storyline is even halfway through, and there are still a lot of things to come. There are so many possibilities what could happen, so I’m just getting along with the story as it is and patiently wait what will come next. For now, I hope that we’ll get a reunion hug between Dazai and Atsushi when he (finally) comes out of prison. Man, everyone of these characters could use a hug, tbh. I’m assuming when he comes back Atsushi may confront Dazai with some things (for example his treatment of Akutagawa in the past), and maybe Dazai will open up a little bit. But we don’t know.

Anyways, I’ve been in fandoms for many years now and have different OTPs, and never was I upset when my OTP did not become canon. I kinda always knew beforehand if there was a slight possibility or not, just rolled with it and enjoyed the ambiguous hints that were presented to us.

And of course, we can always dream and headcanon what we want. And then there is still the power of fanfics and fanarts ;D

Deep Questions

Who or what inspires you?

To be honest, no single person or thing truly inspires me. Even if I say they do, I know I barely know them and that there are parts that I will never get to know, so I can’t say that their complete being inspires me. There’s a difference between admiration and inspiration as well that I think sometimes gets a bit blurred in my mind. I admire and get inspired by many of the voice actors and celebrities that I see. My parents have inspired me. My dog inspires me. And there are certain people that I’ve met that inspire me. But if I’ve learned anything, it’s that you need to become your own inspiration and driving force because even when other people encourage you, you have to become the person that you want to be. You shouldn’t be chasing after anyone else’s shadows or anything like that. I think to become your own inspiration is something else.

If you could be remembered for one thing and one thing only, what would it be? Basically, what would you want your legacy to be?

I want to be remembered for the impacts I made on people. I was going to say my personality but that probably isn’t a good idea since most will admit I have a sour and bitter personality, I feel like that’s the best way to go. And while there’s no use in being remembered for things of beauty if the person you were was far from that, I think a person’s personality can only live on beyond death when people remember them and are impacted by them.

Sure, I want to be remembered for any accomplishments I have or things that I’ve done that embody what society views as “success”, but what do my friends think of me? How have I changed people (for better or for worse)? Would they be completely the same without me? I think that’s the most important thing to be remembered for because the world is beyond just you, your personality, and your accomplishments. It’s how those are used and how those impact that really makes a difference.

Give us an idea of your hopes and dreams.

These are forever changing. I guess my dream is to be proud of the person that I’ve become. My legacy and impact on other people also rely on... well, other people which I can’t control. How they interpret me and my being is beyond me. However, being proud of the person that I am is in my control, but right now, I can’t say that I’m completely proud of who I am and what I have done or what I’m doing.

Sure, I have pipe dreams of getting into some sort of strong relationship someday, writing music, and having my version of success. And while success to me does mean happiness, it also means being able to help other people without compromising yourself. It’s not that I can become a philanthropist or anything, but to give my happiness and success and share it without compromising my way of life is definitely a version of success that I strive for.

If you could talk to your younger-self  (maybe five minutes maximum) what would the conversation be about?

Of course, this depends on what version of younger-me I’m talking to. Let’s say that they are ten years old, I would tell them that this animation and anime phase that’s coming and slowly manifesting won’t be going away anytime soon, I would tell them that mental health is a real thing and to start a talk about it, and I would tell them to take care of themselves and that being comfortable with themselves is one of the most important things in the world. I would tell them that maybe they were born differently, maybe they don’t work or interact like other kids do, but that’s okay because one day, you’ll learn to accept yourself even if no one else does.

What is your ideal partner/spouse like? What qualities/traits do they have? What do they look like? What do you look for in a person?

I guess I look for the same thing that I look for in a friend. I want a person with a sense of humour, kindness, caringness, they can’t be too serious, a certain amount of coolness under pressure, they need to balance me out sometimes, support me when I can’t support myself, understand me (especially when others won’t), want what’s best for me, like me for who I am and who I may become, be loyal, respectful, not violent or abusive, etc. And if anyone had all those traits, I don’t care what they look like.

11: Who is your current OTP?

Uhh...depends on the fandom I suppose. Though for a long time it was Nezumi and Shion from No.6. Now...I just kind of go through phases. So I guess at the moment is KuniChuu. I REALLY love that pairing.

31: What is the nicest thing anyone has ever said about your writing?

Hm. Hmmmmmm. Ok so people have complimented me on my “soft” writing, no freaking clue what exactly that means but I think it’s nice. But the best thing is when people tell me my characterization is on point. That leaves me beaming for a couple days.

45: what is your all time favorite fanfic?

Where Your Loyalties Lie by writingfromtheshadows. I actually cried when it ended and I no longer had updates to look forward to. I recommend it to everyone. XD

46: If someone was to read one of your fanfics, which fic would you recommend to them and why?

This also depends on the fandom. If you want one of my MCU works, I would rec The Blue In Your Eyes. Because I’m exceptionally proud of that fic and how well I (think) I handled both the situation and characterizations!

If it’s BSD, my main, my one true love (lol), then....a tossup between Even If It Hurts and Not Yet. Again two works that I LOVED writing and still read now and love and continue to take pride in to this day. :)

Why does it seem like dazai has his own harem?

Well, maybe I’m not the best person to answer this, because I’m not Dazai’s #1 fan. If I have to be completely honest, it took me a very long time to tolerate him, even longer when it came to actually like him. 

I can’t deny that it’s true, everyone seem to have a crush on him and I wondered why, because I really couldn’t find an answer to that question, a reason for all of them to be so utterly obsessed with him. To me, he was just a dramatic asshole who was taking advantage of everyone’s weaknesses. 

But now I’m watching BSD for the second time, and maybe I found some answers. Dazai is like an upgraded version of Oikawa. He could be treated as the best character ever or as the most toxic of them all. 

They have so much in common if you think about it. Dazai is strong, perfectly aware of his abilities, scary, manipulative, the team mastermind, he likes to toy with people and he always acts according to an ulterior motive. At the same time, he’s probably the most charismatic character in BSD, he’s beautiful, a natural leader, charming, funny, sometimes even an adorable dork. In one word: irresistible. 

It’s incredible to look at the effect Dazai has on people: 

you have Chuuya who’s still fixated on him after FOUR YEARS, he says he hates him but at the same time he put his own life in Dazai hands literally the fist time they went back on a mission together (???????)

you have Akutagawa, for whom my hear aches every time. His only life purpose is to be validated by him and honestly Dazai look what you have done to this child, he’s permanently emotionally bruised 

you have Kunikida who’s constantly annoyed by him but at the same time he always gets along with his tantrums

you have Atsushi who thank god is the only one who seems to take none of his shit, despite having had his “Dazai phase” as well in the very beginning. (THE PINKIES IN THE ED HONESTLYYYYYYYY) 

you have Fukuzawa who’s quite fond of him too and lets him do basically whatever he wants

Even our constantly unenthusiastic Ranpo seem to to enjoy working with Dazai (tbh their relationship is quite endearing, I feel like Dazai has a soft spot for him somehow)  

The only person who had a normal relationship with Dazai was Oda but of course he’s dead

He may not be the official protagonist of BSD, but Dazai is for sure the center of everyone’s attention. Every turning point in the story revolves around him, every single thing that happens just follows his big mental plan. He has that attitude of his, he looks so carefree and uncaring that every time he shows some affection people feel like they’ve been blessed by some kind of god. 

To answer your question, I don’t know why they all love him so much. It’s just the Dazai effect, I guess.

Randou and the Sins of Season 3's Fifteen Adaption (Part 42/???)

Bones' Biggest Changes & Greatest Failures — The Tragedy of Arthur Rimbaud (21/?)

I suspect that many people are likely to want to argue here that the anime’s chosen starting point was nothing less than a ‘sensible’ one, given that so many people seem to subscribe to the belief that the other part was somehow ‘unnecessary’ or filler content, but I’m afraid I have to protest this supposed fact; indeed, even if someone as important and well-respected within the BSD community as Lea herself has come to think with time that perhaps this information wasn’t important to keep, I still have to respectfully but vehemently disagree with that sentiment in every way, because it is absolutely not just a throwaway conversation included for the reader’s amusement or even solely important to the proper establishment of Sheep as an organization.

Yes, it certainly fulfills those purposes as well, but every part of this scene — from its absolute, true beginning to its eventual end — is also incredibly rich in crucial characterization and plot points for not just one, not just two or three, but four major characters in this book, even if we completely disregard how it effects Sheep itself entirely.

On Dazai's Skin-Deep Kindness & Playfulness, and His True Views

In Dazai’s case, these events play an invaluable role in defining his current views and attitude at this age, which — despite any previous remarks I may have made about them not always being that necessary to show in Fifteen as a whole, due to the fact that he already has more than enough canon character-establishing material centered around him as it is — in this one particular moment, is actually desperately needed to make the story work as it was intended to and have its full impact.

While it may have been mostly harmless, in my opinion, to tone down some of his childishness and playful inclinations throughout much of the rest of the adaption and swap it out for a Dark Era-esque version of him to properly represent his inner thoughts and feelings in a more explicit way, this is one instance where doing so will absolutely devastate everything that truly matters about the plot and its characters, and that is exactly what Bones did once they got their hands on it — and exactly what they wanted to do, for that matter.

You see, in taking out the entire conversation about the party that happened between Dazai and Randou at the beginning of the phase and the discussion of the “theory of the half-grilled meat” that followed thereafter, Osamu is instantly scrubbed clean of all of the most damning parts of his personality that are present here, as well as the full reality of his heartless nature — and the same applies to the changes made to the dialogue in his inevitable confrontation and naming of the culprit, too.

Without any of the context of the preceding talk, the revelation that Dazai has set up some elaborate party for Chuuya to celebrate his newfound freedom seems especially kind and sweet of a gesture for someone who claims to despise the redhead; combine this with the altered dialogue in the adaption’s arcade scene that now portrays Dazai as having defended him and even expressed extreme disgust and resentment towards Sheep for using him, and you’ve got the ultimate falsified and doctored recipe for setting the stage to make the young bandage-wearing man look like the perfect white knight for his reluctant partner in crime.

However, if one were to truly take a step back and view the source material’s version of all of this, that illusion would quickly shatter and fall apart at the seams, as not only would it become abundantly clear that Dazai never seriously came to Chuuya’s aid in that sense at the arcade to begin with, but it would also reveal his alleged ‘kindness’ for what it really is — shallow, insincere, and sometimes even downright sinister.
