"Look, that's her." With a subtle jut of his head, Jungkook directs Taehyung's line of sight about twenty meters off into the distance where you step up on the step ladder to shelve more novels.
Tae's eyes widen ever so slightly before his face relaxes into an all-knowing smirk, "So this is what's got you spending so much time at the library lately?" Jungkook shoves him in the side and you pretend not to notice the two of them obviously staring at you.
Letting your short acrylics graze over the spines of the paperbacks, pinpointing where the book in your hand should go. "I can't see her face from here, but I know a nice ass when I see one," Tae states obnoxiously and it makes Jungkook's face turn sour.
"C'mon, Tae." The elder rolls his eyes, "Lighten up. It's just a joke. Hopefully, tomorrow will help you chill out a bit." With an arched brow, Jungkook turns to face his best friend. "Tomorrow?"
"It's Valentine's Day, and I think it's about time you got some ass, Kook. Seriously, when's the last time you had a nice pair of tits in your face, huh?" Jungkook's cheeks flush but he does think about Tae's question.
After no more than a second had passed Tae interrupted his thoughts, "See. You can't even remember, don't worry. That's why I'm here. You're bound to get your dick wet at Red Haven tomorrow, the dancers there are next level." Tae raves, hands waving around to express his eagerness.
Red Haven was the new club that opened not too far from campus but it attracted a lot more than just some touch-deprived university students. Men were ranging from the ages of twenty-one to sixty-five.
"But-" Jungkook was about to object but Tae had picked up a call, reassuring the person on the other end of the line, "Maria, you know you're the only girl in my life." He coos and his face freezes, "Oh shit, this is Jessica? Baby, I was just joking. I don't even know a Maria." Tae walks off trying to save himself from the deep hole he'd dug himself into.
Leaving Jungkook at the table by himself once again, his eyes naturally gliding back to where you once were but he couldn't see you. His feet guided his brain over to the bookshelves where you once stocked away hardcovers.
He stops in his tracks as he lays his eyes on a certain book that caught his eye.
In your head
"That's a good choice." You startled him, the book slipping from his grasp and hitting the ground. The two of you reach down for it at the same time which in practicality wasn't a good idea. The impact of your heads colliding nearly knocked you to your feet.
"I'm so sorry," He apologizes, gaze checking in on you while you worked on picking up the novel off the floor. "I should be the one saying that. I didn't mean to scare you." You say, finally making eye contact and nothing could stop Jungkook from holding his breath.
You're breathtaking.
Beautiful dark brown eyes that held the most innocently seductive eye contact. The way your tan skin dimpled in your cheeks and the perfect formation of waves that your hair mimicked as it flowed down your shoulders.
"I've seen you around here a few times but I never got your name." Jungkook does his best to be subtle as he fishes for your name. It wasn't exactly the most discreet but you think it was a cute effort.
"I'm Y/n," You smile, handing him the book back and he just about collapses inside. Anything you wanted he would give it to you, and he's rich, he could make it happen. God, he would make sure you never had to lift a finger around him.
"I'm J-" It seems he didn't need to introduce himself because you already seemed to know him. "-Jungkook, right? The Dean's son." He sighs, of course.
That's how everyone knew him.
Being the son of the dean at the most prestigious university in the country wasn't something easy to escape. It continued to precede him anywhere he went. "Have you read it?" Your perfectly manicured finger points towards the book now in his possession and he nods.
"It's incredible, the way it examines the interplay between conscious and unconscious desires. I think it's pretty amazing." You blink once, then twice. "Don't pin me for the reading type, right?"
"Honestly, no, but trust me, I'm the last person who should be judging based on first impressions." He smiles at the sound of your soft chuckle. "Do you like psychology?" Your gaze now focused back to the shelves, "I hope so, I wouldn't want to be taking that major and not like it." You turn to him.
"You're a psychology major?" The tone of your voice gave away your disbelief but he wanted to know why this was so shocking.
"Yeah?"
"Weird. Usually, we would've had at least one class together if we shared the same major." He swallows thickly, briefly zoning out because he realizes he is talking to you. Finally, after months of watching you from a distance, trying to work up the nerve to approach you.
Getting too stuck in his thoughts, he loses his ability to speak. Settling for a hum of agreement. You sigh, disappointed. "What a shame. I would've liked having a cutie in my class like you." Your finger gently traces along his jaw and it feels like fire against his skin.
Before he could blink you were strutting away. Hips swaying like you were on a runway, he licks his lips. He'd never fumbled so badly before, but your beauty was something entirely different. It made him disoriented. He needed to get a grip.
Who would've thought the cute library assistant was so...tempting?
★★★
"Hey, Kook! I don't know If I'll be able to stay with you much longer. The bartender is giving crazy fuck me eyes and I can't leave her disappointed now can I?" Tae grabs his friends by the shoulder amidst the crowd of moving bodies.
"What about Maria?" Jungkook questions, referring to the woman Tae had spent all day before this one buttering up in hopes she would forgive him. Tae shrugs, "She'll forgive me again." Jungkook scoffs as he watches the silver-haired man travel through the sea of bodies.
Sometimes he couldn't believe that was his best friend, but he had to remember he wasn't always like this. This was just some terrible hoe phase he was going through.
He had gotten out of a 3-year-long relationship with Yara no more than 3 months ago and he's been on some sort of fucking spree ever since. He claims he feels so 'free' but deep down he was hurting and Jungkook knew that, but Tae refused to admit it.
But what could he do? It was a canon event and he couldn't interfere, even though he tried to once. Didn't end well. Tae was on a hunt for as many women as he could get, and he knew that eventually he would get sick of it and regain his senses.
His mind was pulled out of his thoughts once the entire venue went black for a few moments and the music was shut off. Jungkook was confused, maybe even a bit scared but it seemed there was no need to be as the crowd roared to life.
It seems they knew something he didn't.
"Introducing Red Haven's Vixens!" The announcer's voice rang through the speakers but the crowd was so much louder.
Jungkook was deep into the middle section of the audience so it was hard for him to get a clear view of the stage but he could see eight beautiful women walking onto the stage, in outfits he could probably use to floss.
There were so many colours on the stage. It was as if he'd died and been brought to the end of the rainbow where the sexiest guardian angels waited to bring him to heaven. Although there was one that piqued his interest.
All the girls were wearing some form of unique face paint that was accessorized with rhinestones, each one matching the general colour scheme of their outfits. There was something about the girl in the hot pink two-piece.
Jungkook fought to make his way to the front, face now up close to the base of the stage, looking up to the woman with hearts in his eyes. The way her hips swayed with the music, and her ass jiggled with each sharp movement.
She was a natural, with one hand on the pole she leaned back, looking right into the crowd. Her eyes scanned for a target before they landed on Jungkook as she began to grind your hips down onto it, making such a lewd expression.
She bit her lip and furrowed her brows just like one would as if they were close to- A shock ran through his body. It was you. Even with the gems and the paint around your eyes, he knew it was you, and by the slight smirk that crept up your lips, you knew he recognized you.
Once the performance was over Jungkook had found his way back to the front counter, eyes desperately scanning over the list of private sessions they offered. "How much would it cost for a room with the girl in pink?"
The clerk reminds Jungkook, "A private session grants you a private dance from one of our vixens. No touching of any kind is permitted unless granted by the Vixen, you must-" The rest of the rules were no brainers and Jungkook desperately wished he could fast forward the long speech.
"Got it. How much?"
"Well, Destiny is our Vixen of the highest demand, a 10-minute session could cost you up to five hundre-" Jungkook couldn't take it anymore. "I'll give you a thousand." He interrupts and the woman's jaw drops. She promptly hands him the key, "Third door on your left."
He'd been sitting in the nicely decorated room for the last five minutes. He was sitting on the chair that faced the door, his right leg bouncing uncontrollably. He was so nervous, and if he was being honest, he was already sporting a semi just from the thought of you walking through that door any second now.
The lights in the room flickered from the bright blue as it strobed to a gentle purple before a deep pink. The door opened, and there you were. In the same outfit you'd worn on stage except this time the music had changed to Wild Side.
"It is you." Jungkook gasps cutely as you take confident strides towards him. "Right, you are." Your heels made you tower over him once you stood before him.
"B-But- why?" You laugh, "The same reason why billions of other people have jobs. I've got an expensive tuition that won't pay for itself." He frowns, speaking before thinking. "I'll pay for it." You give him a playful roll of your eyes before you bend at the waist, bringing your face close to his.
"You're lucky you're so cute." The mere proximity was making Jungkook's brain get mushy and hazy with lust. He wanted you so badly, would do absolutely anything to have to, anything you said.
"Now, let me see those hands." You order and just like a dog to its owner, he follows instructions immediately, his hands out in front of you and you slowly walk around him, taking one hand then the other and handcuffing them behind his back.
He doesn't even remember seeing you walk in with handcuffs then again there was a lot about tonight that he didn't see coming. Like how smoothly you were able to straddle his lap and begin a slow, deep grind.
"So I really can't touch you at all?" Your heart skipped a beat at the way he was almost pouting when he said it. "You can try, but it's so much more fun this way. Watching you struggle to touch me." Your voice is as gentle as a whisper that should've been lost over the music but it was spoken right into his ear.
The feeling of your breath against the shell of his ear sends the hairs on the back of his hair to stand, and goosebumps to raise. He was rock solid in his jeans, although you already knew that. You could feel it. With every sensual roll of your hips, the man beneath you became a little more whiny.
"Do you think about me touching you?" Whipping your hair to the side as you leaned down intentionally close to his neck, making sure he felt your presence all over. His hips stutter under your set pace and it caused you to jolt slightly, "Fuck yes- Every day." He answers. Voice empty and high-pitched.
"Yeah?" You slowly slide off him, and let your knees hit the soft cushioned floor. You weren't doing anything, simply resting your arms on his knees and letting your head rest innocently on your hands.
How dare you look up at him like such an angel while you tempted him with a world of sin.
"Tell me, what do I do to you?" He sucks in a sharp breath as he feels your hand slowly glide up the inseam of his jeans. "You-" He gets distracted, losing his train of thought the moment your hand gently squeezes the thick muscle of his thigh, "Shit. You take my cock in your mouth and you suck me off until-" you squeeze his thigh once again, a little tighter this time.
"Hm? Until what? Until you cum in my mouth? Or on my chest?" Leaning back up, making an intimidating eye contact that Jungkook was unable to hold. "Look at me, Kookie." God. That nickname was so belittling, made him feel like he was being teased, but oh how he loved it.
"Until What? Say it." You grit, your hand holding his face, just firm enough for your middle finger and thumb to press into his cheeks. "Until I cum in your mouth and you swallow it." He looked so ashamed to say it, but it only caused you to grin bigger.
"Can I touch you, Kookie?"
He nods, nods and nods. "Please." His voice was a mere whisper, and at a certain pause during the music, you could hear him fighting against his restraints.
Back on your knees, your hands worked skillfully on getting him out of his pants and pulling how his briefs, just low enough for his throbbing dick to be released. Already budding with precum, some of it sticking to the base of his shirt as it rests against his abdomen.
"Nice cock." You almost wanted to laugh at the cliché, but it was true. Jungkook really had the prettiest dick you'd ever laid your eyes on, and he was big too.
He doesn't respond, eyes focused on your every move while his cheeks tinted red. He was anticipating for the contact between your hand and his length, but he still wasn't prepared.
Sucking in a sharp breath as he watched you spit on it and proceed to flash him the most charming smile he'd ever seen. You wanted to kill him, and Jungkook was afraid you'd succeed.
Your hand languidly rose from base to tip, working him up but he didn't need that, he wanted to last. His hips bucked up with every motion of your hands, "Relax," You coo, hand continuing its ministrations while Jungkook's head fell back. Hands still fighting against the cuffs desperately.
"a-ah." he moans so sweetly as your lips unexpectedly place a chaste kiss on his tip. Eyes shooting wide open, "Shit- 'm not gonna last." He warns but you continue anyway. Letting your tongue swirl around his tip like your favourite popsicle.
"Y/n-" His groans became more breathless and frequent, "Oh shit- Y/n-" Being ambitious you relaxed your throat and took deep breaths through your nose as you deepthroated his length. Fondling his balls in your left hand as you continued to work the base that you couldn't fit with your right.
That was it for him.
Jungkook's hot cum was filling your mouth with no further warning and the sound of the clashing metal rang in your ears, you grin. Looking up at the man who you've just ruined.
He blinks down at you with no thoughts behind his eyes, you maintain eye contact and swallow. He groans; and just to make sure you made his dreams come true, you stick out your tongue when you're done.
You stand, and the song changes once more, now playing sex with me.
How fitting, you think.
You uncuff Jungkook's wrists and with all the strength in his body, he tugs you back down to his lap. "Let me kiss you," A big strong man like him had just manhandled you to his will yet here he was still asking for your permission.
Good boys deserve treats.
You lean in, tilting your head to the side as your lips meet in a lustful exchange of saliva and desperation. This was all Jungkook needed. His hands unconsciously roamed down your backside until they found comfort on the soft flesh of your ass. Giving it a confident grip, you moaned into the kiss.
The two of you hardly pulled away, kissing like you wanted to become one. The way your body rolled against his and he pushed up into you.
"Can I fuck you?" He looked up to you with stars in his eyes and he was just the cutest thing, just as you wanted to answer, the lights strobe back to their default blue colour.
Slowly, you dismount him. Pretending that you weren't soaking through your costume. "Next time," You leaned down to drop a kiss on his cheek and begin to make your way out, "Happy Valentine's Day." You flash him one last wink and walk out of sight.

“You really can’t make it?” You whispered, your eyes constantly glancing to the bottom of the bedroom door to make sure two tiny feet wouldn’t show up to listen in. It was tough to keep your voice down, especially considering how upset you were becoming with your husband's constant last minute cancellations of plans that had been in effect for months. “We talked about this… you promised him that you’d be able to make it too.” You hissed as you pointed to the door, once again making sure your son hadn’t overheard the silent argument.
Namjoon ran a hand through his hair as he moved further into the room, dropping down onto the edge of the bed. “You really think I find enjoyment in letting you down, in letting him down?” He huffed, falling back onto the bed with his fingers pinching the bridge of his nose, his eyes squeezing shut to try to block out the agitation he was feeling.
“Kind of seems like that.” You retorted, your jaw clenched with your own agitation at just another family trip that would be soiled by Namjoons cancellation. “I might as well just be a single mother at this point with how much you’re gone… You said that things would be slowing down, that you’d be able to make it this time around.” You scoffed, shaking your head as you rolled your eyes, not specifically at him, but at the circumstances in general. “It’s ridiculous.”
He groaned loudly, letting both of his hands fall over his face, dragging them down as a loud sigh escaped his lips. “You make it seem like I do this shit on purpose. Not just seem though, it’s like you actually believe that I’m this much of an asshole.” He pushed himself up, his back ramrod straight as he stared at you. “Do you actually believe that?”
Pursing your lips, you shrugged your shoulders, exasperated at everything at this point. “I don’t know, Namjoon. All I do know is that this trip has been planned weeks and weeks in advance, it’s on the calendar, our son… your son was so excited to finally take a family vacation with you and you just… You drop this on me the night before we have to go. God I…” You took a deep breath, wanting to pull your hair out, wanting to scream, but not wanting to upset your son in the process. “I hate you sometimes…” Slowly exhaling, your tongue in your cheek as you looked between him and the door, you let out an exhausted chuckle. “We’re leaving early, I’m sleeping in his room tonight. Don’t bother trying to wake up in time to catch us, I’d rather him not be upset on the way out.” You said, trying your best to stay calm and collected, swallowing back the anger that threatened to swallow you entirely.
“You know, I told you… I told you that things would get difficult, that my life was hectic and I wouldn’t always have time.” His defense was strong, or so he thought, but his rebuttal only had you more disgusted, cursing yourself for even marrying him at this point. “You said that you’d support me, that you’d stand by me no matter what. You weren’t so upset to get hitched when I was raking in the cash, were you?” His assumption and low blow had you whipping around, your finger pointed at him on the bed as tears of anger built in the corners of your eyes, your entire body trembling with rage.
“Don’t… Don’t you dare try to throw all this shit back up in my face like it’s my fault!” You shouted, completely forgetting about your son who was in the other room. “I did stand by you, I supported you every fucking chance that I got! I gave up my entire life for you! I couldn’t do anything, I couldn’t go anywhere. Any semblance of normalcy that I once had, it was gone, but I dealt with it for you!” You seethed at him, your fingers gripping the edges of your shirt, worried that if you didn’t have something to keep yourself grounded you’d end up doing something that you’d regret. “For the past eight years… Eight fucking years, Namjoon, I wasn’t me, I was just some fucking extension of you, and I dealt with it, because I thought that… hey, maybe it’ll all get better as soon as his career starts dwindling down. But no! For some fucking reason it just keeps getting worse.” You took a shaky breath, your nose sniffling as you looked at your husband through glossy eyes. “And now… Now our son who just wanted to have some time with his family, which he for some reason thinks still includes you, now he’s going to be let down… Again. I’m tired of letting him down… But you wouldn’t understand that because you never have to be the one to tell him that you can’t make it. It’s never you.” Your head fell back as you let out a heavy sigh, running your hands over your face, gasping quietly in disbelief at everything that was going on right now. “Do you even know him?” You questioned him, watching as his eyes narrowed at you quizzically.
“What do you mean? Of course I know my son, what kind of stupid question is that?” He scoffed at your question, shaking his head as he looked at you.
“What’s he like? What’s his favorite color? What bedtime story does he like, what’s his favorite food, what’s his favorite movie, show, song, toy? What do you know about him?!” Namjoon shook his head once more, clearly finding your sudden questionnaire ridiculous and foolish, but it only further proved your point. “You walk around like you’re father of the year to a kid that you don’t even know.”
He threw his hands up, his annoyance spilling over in the tone of his voice. “What do you want me to say, Y/N?! I’m sorry I’m busy, I’m sorry that I have a job to do! I mean… How the hell am I even supposed to know what he likes?! He’s six years old and he hasn’t spoken a word! How is that my fault?!”
You were at a loss for words, seeing red as you looked at the man on the bed, the man that you felt like you didn’t even know anymore. He didn’t know the half of what you’ve dealt with the past four years, the absolute hell that you were put through trying to raise your son on your own. “I never said it was your fault!” You screamed, your chest rising and falling heavily as your teeth gritted together. “You didn’t even take the time to try to get to know him, you’re embarrassed by him! That’s why you feel no shame in doing what you’re doing, what you always do!” You pulled the rings off your finger, throwing them across the room, the action exhilarating and almost liberating in a way. “It’s always about you! It always has been and always will be! God forbid the fucking world knows that Kim Namjoon has a child with autism!”
His glare was deadly as he looked between you and where the rings had landed on the floor, his own fingers yanking off the ring that you had placed there on the day of your wedding. “That’s really what you think?! That I don’t love my son?! You’re ridiculous, Y/N! You’re putting words in my mouth!”
“I’ve known how you felt for a while… I saw the way you’d look at him when you’d come home, you wouldn’t even acknowledge him once he got the diagnosis. You won’t even let the guys around him… You haven’t even told your parents what’s going on, you’re ashamed!” You had been pacing the room, stopping once more at the door, your hand on the knob. “He didn’t ask for this either… He fought from the day he was born… And to have his own father turn his back on him… I couldn’t imagine the way that makes him feel. You know… Just because he can’t say it, doesn’t mean he doesn’t feel it… I just want you to remember that.” There was nothing left for you to say, and the silence that followed after you had finished showed that he had nothing to say either. It was done, and the entire argument had left you exhausted, both physically and mentally and all you wanted to do was lay in bed next to your son and hold him, to let him know that not everyone had given up on him, that you’d always be there.
Tumblr media
Your son grunted loudly as he pulled against your hand, trying to lead you into the bedroom where Namjoon was sleeping. “Honey… He’s not coming… He can’t… I’m sorry.” You whispered, pausing in the middle of the hallway to lower yourself to his level, brushing your fingers through his hair, trying to soothe him as he stomped his feet on the ground. “I know… I know… Shhh, honey, it’s okay…” You kissed his forehead before lifting him up, trying to hide the tears that were building on your lashes. “We’re gonna go on a plane… You like planes.” You murmured, trying to keep your tone steady as you wheeled your luggage through the hallway, not wanting your son to hear just how much you were struggling. “And we’re gonna go see Mickey Mouse, you love Mickey Mouse.”
He grunted again, this time a sound of approval at the mention of Mickey Mouse, clapping his hands together. His happiness was the source of your own and you sighed softly when his feet had finally stopped kicking against you, his head resting against your shoulder instead. “Wait… Y/N wait…” Namjoons voice called from behind you, his hair disheveled and his clothes a wrinkly mess as he stumbled out of the bedroom. The sound of his voice had your son turning, kicking his feet again as he reached out for his father. “Let me help…”
You couldn’t show how annoyed you were, not in front of your son, and you would never go against your son's wishes, so you swallowed back your reluctance and handed him over to Namjoon. “I told you… That you shouldn’t come out when we’re leaving… He’ll only be more upset.” You tried to keep your voice light, a smile on your face as you said it, but the smile was anything but genuine, your teeth clenched so hard that you felt a cramp starting up in your jaw. “If you’d like, you can help carry the bags to the car. I’ll carry him down.” You tried to sound cheerful, as if your marriage hadn’t practically ended last night, but the task was becoming harder and harder with each passing second.
“I love you, Namgil…” Namjoon murmured to your son, petting his own hand over your son’s hair, the tiniest trickle of a tear moving down his face as he said it. “You’re gonna have a fun time at Disney World… right? You’ll see Mickey?” Your son cheered excitedly once more at Mickey Mouse’s name, his hands clapping together on Namjoons cheeks before holding them firm, grunting quietly in frustration as his eyebrows furrowed. “What’s he doing?” Namjoon questioned, his eyes glancing over at you as you watched your son.
“He’s trying to tell you he loves you…” You said matter-of-factly, your son finally relaxing once you had let Namjoon know. “I can’t miss the flight, I booked this time specifically for him.” You added, reaching out to grab your son from Namjoon. “I have to get him on the plane before anyone else, I have to make sure he doesn’t have to use the bathroom, I have to get him in his seat and get his headphones on and make sure his movie starts up and that he’s comfortable so he doesn’t have a meltdown… People don’t take too lightly to that, so I have to go.”
Namjoon shook his head, but carefully handed your son over to you, kissing the top of his head as he did. “Why do you use commercial? You could have used the private plane, it would be way more comfortable for you and him. You wouldn’t have to worry about people complaining either… Not that they understand…” You eyed him incredulously, baffled at the nerve he had to say it that way. “I don’t understand either… Not as much as you do… But I’m trying to help here, for christ's sake, Y/N… Let me help.”
Nobody was yelling, and while you normally wouldn’t have noticed the slight raise in volume of Namjoons voice, now you could, and so could your son who was covering his ears and kicking at your sides. “Shhh… Shhh, it’s alright, honey… We’re quiet… It’s okay, we’re being quiet.” You cooed to him, rubbing circles in his back as you glared up at Namjoon. “Could you please… Just bring the bags to the car so I can get him buckled in?”
He nodded slowly, taking a deep breath as he grabbed the handles to yours and Namgils bags and carried them down the stairs and out the front door. You followed behind, still trying to soothe your son with back rubs and hair pats, his fingers gripping onto your shirt as you got him outside, practically running to your car once you were out of the house. “Let me help you buckle him in, just start up the car, I’ve got it.” Namjoon said, holding his arms out for your son, and you didn’t really feel like you had much time to spare, passing him over to Namjoon and running around to the front of the car to start the engine.
“I’m… okay…” Your son said, the sound of his voice causing you to whip around in your seat. He was holding his plush Koya out to Namjoon who seemed frozen, as still as a statue as he looked down at him. “I’m… okay….” He repeated, thrusting the stuffed animal into Namjoons hands with a wide smile. It wasn’t the first time you had actually heard him speak, but it was the first time he had used words with Namjoon, something that clearly had your husband shocked.
“Isn’t… This is your car Koya… Don’t you need him, buddy?” Namjoon asked, looking down at the plushy that was now in his hands, the tears coming more steadily now as his fingers dug into the blue koala. “You don’t need to give him to me… I’m okay too.” He tried to reassure his son, but Namgil only shook his head, kicking his feet against the seat in front of him in agitation.
“No!” He shouted, kicking his feet harder as his little hands balled up into fists. “I’m… okay! I can… talk! I’m… okay!” The words hit you like a brick, your nails digging into your legs as you bit the insides of your cheeks, anger at yourself for the argument the night before getting so out of hand that your son obviously heard it, and anger at Namjoon for having said what he did, the words clearly sticking with your son.
All you could do was shake your head, staring at Namjoon who looked like he had just been punched, and at that moment, you felt that it would have been better if he had been. “Please, shut the door… We need to get to the airport.” You whispered, trying your best not to show your son how upset you truly were. “When I get back home… I’m done… I just want you to know that so you’re not expecting anything… I’m not that kind of person.” You said, watching as Namjoon robotically shut your son's door without another word, backing away from the car so you could pull out of the driveway.
There was a sense of finality in the actions that had your eyes welling up, struggling to keep them clear so you could drive. What had happened the night before, what had happened so many times… It had all led up to this moment.
Tumblr media
Namjoon sat on the edge of the bed, Koya held tightly in his arms as he tried to think of what to do, what he could do, as if there was something that could possibly make any of this better. As much as he wanted to believe there was something that would fix things, something that would make you come back to him, but he knows now that he’s done too much, he went too far, and not only did he hurt you, but he had hurt his son as well. He didn’t even know how he was supposed to live with himself knowing what he had done, seeing the pain that he had caused in yours and his son's eyes.
The tears had come immediately after he had stepped over the threshold into the house again and they hadn’t stopped since, the light blue fabric that was Koya had since turned a darker shade from the tears that had puddled on top of the plushies head. The rain came soon after, pouring from the sky much like his tears poured from his eyes, beating against the windows of the bedroom that felt far too large now. He could barely even see through the glass, the trees out in the front yard had disappeared behind the raindrops that covered his window and the sudden sense of panic and fear and dread that overwhelmed him when he thought of you driving in these conditions couldn’t be pushed back.
He spent the better half of the next 30 minutes straightening up the already practically spotless master bedroom, continually glancing out the window just to catch the dismal gray sky alight with the bolts of lightning that struck close by, followed by the house shaking thunder. The airport couldn’t possibly allow any of the flights to take off in this kind of weather, and while he wasn’t too fond of the idea of you and your son stuck in a crowded airport, he’d rather the two of you stay there than take your chances on the roads.
As he continued cleaning the room, a glint of light came from the foot of the bed, catching his eye immediately, causing him to drop down on his knees to pick it up. The rings that you had thrown in a fit of angry passion were still on the floor which meant that they weren’t on your fingers, the one place where he thought they’d stay for the rest of the forever that he wanted to spend with you. “I’m sorry…” He whispered, as if his apology would be heard by you, and as much as he wished it would be, he knew that the only audience he had were the 4 walls of the bedroom that he had encased himself within.
Another roaring roll of thunder seemed to have the entire foundation of the house vibrating beneath him, that vibration only continuing as his phone rang out on the nightstand beside the bed. In a hurry, he crawled across the floor that he had been sitting on, snatching his phone to answer the call before even checking the ID. “Hey, we’re canceling the meeting today, there’s no way we’re all making it to the office.” Jungkook said through the speaker, and all Namjoon could muster was a hum of agreement in response. “Bang isn’t really sure when we’ll be able to reschedule it for, so uh… Enjoy some time with Y/N and Namgil… Tell them I said hi too.”
The rings that he held in his hand felt like freshly heated silver, as if the bands were still blazing red in his palm, but he knew that it was just the heat of his own anger boiling over inside of him. Angry at himself, angry at the world, angry at everything and everyone in the world that seemed to work so hard against him. It was like the universe wanted things to work out this way, but he wouldn’t allow it to be like that, he wouldn’t allow the universe to get its way, not this time, not when it came down to you and him, not when it came down to his family.
Pushing himself up off the floor, he ran out of the bedroom and down the stairs, grabbing his keys off the keyring hook beside the door before flipping on the news. There was no reason to try to make it to the airport, to make it to you, if traffic were backed up. He would get there once the rain started to clear up, but he couldn’t risk himself and the lives of other people on the road for the sake of some romantic movie like reunion at the airport.
“The traffic isn’t looking very good if you’re heading in the direction of Incheon airport. A seven car accident has left road workers and emergency workers turning everyone around to head back home. We have no reports as of now on the status of the drivers and or passengers in these seven vehicles, although we’re hoping that they all make it out alright.” The news anchor spoke as a live view of the accident was being shown on the screen, the helicopter flying right above the sight of it and the vehicles that had been involved in the accident were almost unrecognizable. “We’ll keep you updated on the status of the crash and the people that were involved as this story develops.”
The sudden sinking feeling in Namjoons chest almost had him crumbling to the floor, and while he hadn’t been able to see the vehicles, something in him was just screaming, telling him that you and his son had been in that wreck, the thought of it sending him running to the sink in the kitchen, the urge to throw up overcoming him completely.
His legs felt like noodles, his knees weak and the constant heavy breathing had him feeling like he was going to throw up again. He didn’t know what he’d do if you and Namgil were in that crash, he didn’t even want to think about it, but as the light of the television flickered and the droning sound of the reporter filled the empty space around him, he knew that he needed to face the fact that it could be a possibility. “Breaking news now, the first car that has been pulled from the wreckage was a black 2022 Hyundai Palisade with a woman and a young boy inside. We can’t release any information on who these people are yet, but if this description sounds familiar to anyone that you know, please call in to the number at the bottom on your screen.”
Sinking, that’s what it felt like as soon as he heard it. It was like a lightswitch had been flicked on, but he didn’t want to see the contents of the room, he wanted to shut it all out, he wanted to slam the door and pretend he hadn’t seen it at all. He knew what he had to do though, and his hand, as if on its own, reached into the pocket of his jeans and pulled out his phone to dial the number, praying that it was a coincidence, praying that you and your son weren’t the ones in that car.
Tumblr media
Guilt was the damndest thing, the way it could eat away at a person, the reasons for feeling it sometimes strange and morbid in their own way. It wasn’t exactly survivor's guilt, but that didn’t change the fact that he’d rather be dead than standing over the tiny hospital bed where his son lay connected to breathing tubes and IV’s in the ICU.
You were in the next room over, and he had to take turns walking between each room, unsure of how he was even able to manage that much. Every step he took felt like he was carrying the weight of a million pounds on his shoulders, his own breathing unsteady as he took in the image of the two people he loved most in the world, looking like they were on the verge of leaving him.
The Koya was still gripped in his arms as he walked between the rooms, the rings that you had thrown were being worn on his pinky finger, like they were the last two things connecting him to you and Namgil. “Sir, maybe you’d like to go down to the cafeteria and get something to eat or drink.” One of the nurses said as she came into the room to check you over, writing something out on her clipboard as she did. He wished that he could see it, he wished that he could see what was written, but he feared that whatever it was was something that would only make the pain he felt worse.
“They were going to Disney World…” He muttered in a raspy voice, a voice that he barely had from all the crying he had done. “I was… I was supposed to go with them… But I couldn’t…” His voice broke at the end as he clutched tighter onto the plush koala in his hands. “My son… He loves Mickey Mouse… And he loves planes. His favorite food is… is pizza… cheese pizza… And he loves apple juice. His favorite movie is… Toy Story…. And his favorite toy is… Bullseye… From the movie… That’s my boy….” The nurse nodded in understanding, although he was sure that she didn’t truly understand why he was telling her all of these things, she most likely assumed that he was just having a breakdown, and maybe he was, but he needed someone to know that he did know his son, that he did love his son.
“Sir… your son is going to be okay and so is your wife…” He glanced over to you, watching your chest rise and fall unnaturally with the help of the machine that you were hooked up to. “They’re going to be just fine, so please, go get something to eat and then get some rest, you need it.” She nodded at him before pivoting and walking out of the room and leaving Namjoon alone with his thoughts once more, the silence of the room only broken by the soft beeps of the heart monitor beside your bed.
How hypocritical it would be to get something to eat right now, when you and your son were being fed through IV’s because both your mouths were filled with tubes that helped you to breathe. He was terrified to sleep, the unknown of the future lingering above his head like the dark clouds that had filled the sky the day of the accident. He was petrified of what he’d possibly wake up to if he even tried to get a wink of sleep, and he couldn’t even fathom leaving the room to go to the cafeteria. So he didn’t… He stayed in the vicinity of the two rooms, going back and forth between them both until his legs couldn’t carry him anymore, until he broke down at the side of Namgils bed, holding onto his son's hand and silently begging him and you to be okay.
“Joon… you have to go home, get some sleep, we’ll stay here with both of them… Please… You need to look out for yourself too.” Taehyung said with Jimin murmuring in agreement right behind him, the younger members hand placed firmly on Namjoons shoulder in a sentiment of support and sympathy. “We’re worried about you…” He added, but Namjoon wasn’t having it, the words only further proved what you had said the night before all of this had happened.
“Always about me…” Namjoon muttered, shaking his head, his disheveled hair flopping around his sullen face. “I’ve looked out for myself enough… That’s all I ever did… That’s why they’re here. If… If I had gone with them… This wouldn’t have happened… Or I’d at least be going through it with them. I’ve been selfish, and I always thought that he and her would always just… be there… That she’d always put up with my shit… And now look…” A quiet sob escaped him as his forehead fell against the edge of his son's bed, a spot where he had accidentally passed out every night for the past 5 days.
“You can’t think like that.” Jimin whispered, moving to squat down beside Namjoon. “You can’t blame yourself for what happened… That storm came out of nowhere. No one had been able to predict it, and there were a lot of other accidents all over the area…” Words of what seemed like an attempt to be reassurance fell upon deaf ears as Namjoon continued to shake his head, weeping into the bedside. “Y/N wouldn’t want you to beat yourself up over this, and neither would he… If you’re not going to go home, at least grab something to eat and take a nap on the couch. You couldn’t possibly be comfortable right now…”
“And who am I to enjoy the luxury of comfort when my wife and son have tubes shoved down their throats because they can’t even breathe on their own? Surely they’re not comfortable right now, so why should I be?” He took a shaky breath, letting it out slowly before turning to look at the two men who had become brothers to him, his eyes blotchy, red and puffy from the countless tears that had spilled from them. “I just want them to be okay…” He practically whimpered, curling into himself as he broke down once again, both of the guys falling to the floor beside him and holding onto him, a last ditch effort to hold together the man that had been their leader for so long.
Tumblr media
“Mmph…” You groaned as you shifted your body to climb out of the car, one hand holding onto the handle as your other hand worked to push you from the seat. You didn’t remember much, all you could remember was the fear that squeezed you like a vice grip as you tried to control your car from plowing into the two others that had already crashed in front of you. All that had run through your head was your son, wanting nothing more to protect him and hoping, praying that he had been strapped in well enough in his booster seat that he would be okay.
The two of you had been okay, that was the crazy thing, you had pumped the brakes enough that when you hit the car in front of you, it hadn’t even been hard enough to leave much more than a small scratch in your fender. It wasn’t your initial crash that had been the problem, it was the four other cars that had come behind you, and somehow your car had ended up on the bottom of everyone else's.
To say that you and your son were lucky would just be too minute a term. By some miracle, the two of you had made it out alive, although in critical condition, but after a month and a half in the hospital, you were finally able to go back home. “Let me help you, I can help you…” Namjoon said as he ran around the front of the car to hold the door open for you, his hand offered out for you to grab, and you quickly did, clenching your teeth as you finally planted your feet on the ground.
He let out a sigh of relief when your hand stayed in his, but you could read it on his face, see it in his eyes that he was still upset. “Please stop blaming yourself, Joon… It’s not like you’re the one who brought on the storm. Just be happy that we’re here.” You smiled at him, letting his hand drop from your own as you looked towards the passenger doors. “Can you bring him in…? I don’t think I’ll be able to carry him.”
He rolled his eyes at your joke, thinking that it was far too soon for you to be making fun at your current state, but then again, there was no point in staying sad about it, it would only bring you down and slow down the healing process. It was much easier to laugh about it, in the hypothetical sense, because it helped you to forget just how bad it really was.
“I should have asked the guys to come over, they would have been able to help you while I get him.” Namjoon murmured, his back turned to you as he carefully lifted Namgil out of the car, cradling him against his chest delicately as he walked towards the house. Each of his steps were slow and calculated, trying to figure out how to move so that Namgil wouldn’t feel much of it. “And please don’t try to tell me that you’re okay, your ribs are still broken. It’s a miracle that they didn’t puncture your lungs…”
His body shuddered at the thought of it, the thought of potentially having lost you, so you quickly snapped your mouth shut, not wanting to upset him more. “Lay him in our bed… I don’t think I’ll be able to fit into his and be comfortable, plus it’ll be easier for me to care for him.” You said, following slowly behind Namjoon, trying your best to refrain from grunting or wincing too much.
Namjoon sighed quietly, nudging open the front door with his knee and holding it for you as you walked in before going straight to the stairs. “I’ll help you up once I get him in… Don’t try to get up the stairs by yourself, please… If not for me, at least for him. I know he wouldn’t want you to end up back in the hospital.” He said on his way up, his words having you stop at the landing, silently grateful for the small break that you had, leaning against the railing and trying to collect yourself, telling yourself that the pain wasn’t as bad as it felt.
“I’m gonna have to get a stairlift or something put in here so I can get up and down the stairs… He still needs to eat and drink…” You told nobody in particular as Namjoon made his way back down the stairs, his arm wrapping loosely around your waist once he reached you. “Maybe I can just get a mini fridge and a microwave for the bedroom for the time being, just so that I don’t have to leave him.” You were trying to figure things out, and for the most part, Namjoon was silent, listening to everything you had to say as he helped you up to the bedroom.
Your son was awake, propped up on two pillows in the middle of the bed, watching the tv screen that hung over the dresser in the bedroom. Mickey Mouse was on, and for the first time since you had woken up in the hospital, you could see a faint smile on his face, the sight of it was enough to have you tearing up. “Lay down and get comfortable…” Namjoon urged as he walked you to the bed, his arm never letting you go until you were laying down and covered up. “And… could you stop talking as if you’re going to be doing this by yourself.” He whispered, lowering himself down next to your side of the bed, his voice quiet enough that only you’d be able to hear it.
“I really don’t want to argue with you right now…” You whispered back, your nails gripping the blankets and pulling them up higher to your chin. “I just need to figure things out for when you go back to work… I just need to get myself better so I can make him better… Okay. Don’t worry about it.” That was the end of it, at least you wanted it to be the end, you didn’t want to come back home and immediately pick up where you had left off. The least he could have given you was one day to get comfortable in your home again.
He shook his head, grabbing your hand and intertwining his fingers with your own and the feeling of his hand in yours, his skin against your own, it was something that you hadn’t felt in so long, not in this way, it was almost shocking to you. “I’m staying here with you, and with him. I’m not leaving… I’m not… I won’t, not for anything.” He murmured, his thumb brushing over yours as he looked into your eyes, wanting you to see the sincerity that burned within them. “I’ll be right here the whole time.” He emphasized his words, pulling the rings out of his pocket and sliding them onto your finger. “I messed up and I missed out on a lot of things… But I’m not going to do that anymore. I’m not going to be an idiot anymore, at least I’ll try my best not to be… But I love you, and I love him, and the two of you are my whole world… I’d do anything for you two, and I’m sorry it took so long for me to realize what I truly had.” His bottom lip trembled as it pressed against his upper lip, his nose twitching with silent sniffles.
He was your husband, he was the father of your son, and he was the love of your life. He was genuine, and he was kind, albeit sometimes he didn’t use his head a lot, but he loved you and he loved his family, and that love was strong and it ran deep, that much you were sure of. You had heard the stories from the other guys during your recovery that he would go between the hospital rooms, and that he’d refuse to sleep, and that they basically had to force feed him jell-o because he didn’t want to eat and they were worried he’d end up in one of the rooms as well. At the end of the day, no matter how stressful things got, and no matter what happened, he’d always come home to you, and on those days where you felt your worst, he was always there to lift you up and tell you how amazing you were. You needed him just as much as he needed you, and your son needed both of you.
“Have…” You whispered quietly, not wanting to disturb the quiet snores of your sleeping son beside you. Namjoons head tilted in confusion as he absentmindedly toyed with the rings on your finger. “You said had… Past tense… You still have us, we’re not going anywhere either… It was only goodbye for a little while.”

Moonlit Negotiation
The tension hung heavy in the opulent office, the scent of leather and polished wood masking the unease that crackled between the three figures. Taehyung, the young King, leaned back in his plush chair, long fingers steepled beneath his sharp chin. His cousin, Seokjin, stood by the window, an ever-present guardian, his amber eyes cool and watchful. Before them, Alpha Jay of Pack Arcania shifted nervously on his feet, his obsidian fur bristling with barely contained frustration.
"Your Majesty," Alpha Jay began, his voice a low rumble, "I humbly seek your guidance. My daughter, Rose, has found a mate, a strong wolf from Pack Sylvaia, but this... this young wolf refuses to join my pack."
Taehyung raised an eyebrow, his dark eyes gleaming with amusement. "Refuses, Alpha Jay? Or has simply chosen to stay with his own kin?"
Alpha Jay scoffed. "Pack Sylvaia is a shadow of its former self, barely surviving after the Rough Wolf attack. My daughter deserves a better life, a stronger future within my pack."
Seokjin spoke then, his voice soft yet firm. "But Alpha, is that not for Rose and her chosen mate to decide? To force their hand goes against the very foundation of our bond, the freedom to choose our path."
The room fell silent, the air thick with the Alpha's unspoken disapproval. He saw Pack Sylvaia as weak, their isolation a sign of their inadequacy. To him, uniting his daughter with a wolf from such a pack was a slight, a blow to his own prestige.
Taehyung, sensing the brewing conflict, intervened. "Alpha Jay," he said, his voice resonating with quiet authority, "the bond between mates is sacred. To interfere with their choices is to court chaos. I believe a meeting with the Alpha of Pack Sylvaia is in order, a chance for open dialogue and understanding."
A flicker of surprise crossed Alpha Jay's face. He hadn't expected the King to side with the unknown, seemingly insignificant Alpha from the distant pack. Hesitantly, he nodded. "As you wish, Your Majesty. But I won't rest until my daughter sees reason."
Taehyung smiled, a hint of steel in his gaze. "Reason, Alpha Jay, is not forced, but cultivated. Let us see what this meeting reveals."
The tension began to dissipate, replaced by a wary hope. As Alpha Jay left, Taehyung turned to Seokjin, a wry smile playing on his lips. "Pack Sylvaia may be small, but they have endured much. Perhaps they hold more strength than meets the eye."
Seokjin nodded, his sharp mind already piecing together the possibilities. "Indeed, Your Majesty. This may be an opportunity to mend old wounds and forge new alliances."
The opulent office, once filled with discord, now hummed with the promise of change. The moon, a silent observer through the window, cast an ethereal glow, as if blessing the journey they were about to embark on. The fate of two young wolves, and perhaps the future of their packs, hung in the balance, waiting to be rewritten.

Taehyung looked from the sleeping child to the ticking face of his Patel Philippe, trying his hardest to look indifferent at the minute hand which was slowly creeping towards the bottom. His efforts were in vain as the man on the sofa opposite piped up, sensing his mild impatience.
“It’s on the other side of the city.” Max looked at him, blue eyes locking with brown. “She may be a while.”
The younger man shook his head, lowering his wrist. “I can wait.”
Cassandra had called him the previous afternoon with the request, though her tone had been cautious, feeling guilty for springing it on him at such late notice. Max would be working the next day and might not get back in time to take care of Gabriel. Would he mind sitting in for a while? Despite her doubts, Taehyung’s voice perked up at the request. He explained his plans for the evening, but would be happy to wait until Max got home. It would give him more time with his son. Besides, he explained, he was happy for her. Applying for the job had been an impulsive decision when she happened to see it being advertised on the website and she had only just made the deadline, but it would give her something to do. The income wouldn’t be great, but at least it was something; rainy day money she could put aside for when Gabriel was older and wanted to do more things. He had arrived as she was getting ready, tucking her long, dark hair into a bun with bobby pins and tying up the oversized bow on her blouse. He hadn’t seen her looking so formal before, but it suited her.
“I don’t mind taking it from here, he’s already asleep.” Max gestured towards the corner of the room, where the infant was tucked into the car seat he had climbed into shortly before and Taehyung turned once more to look. Cassandra had once complained it was the only way to settle him down; he liked the feeling of being strapped in. The younger man couldn’t help but smile at his angelic features; the way he curled against the fabric, thick eyelashes brushing his soft skin. He was half-tempted to put him to bed, but he didn’t want to disturb such a serene moment.
“If he wakes up again he might need changing.” He murmured, settling back into the sofa.
Max shook his head easily. “I don’t mind.”
Taehyung didn’t reply and the other man fell quiet, realising he didn’t have much to talk about. It was apparent he wasn’t going to leave until Cassandra returned, and it was not worth the breath arguing with him. Instead, he reached in his pocket for his phone and turned it on idly, flicking through his emails as the silence stretched between them. A notification ping from the other side of the room caught his attention and Taehyung picked up his own phone from the coffee table, eyebrows knitting together as he read the message. This reminded Max...
“Have you got another date?” He asked, thankful to break the silence.
Taehyung pressed the side button with his thumb, returning the device to the table. “I’m just picking her up from work.” He said.
Max raised his eyebrows, remembering a tidbit of information from the last time they had spoken. “She’s not on tour?”
Taehyung looked at him blankly. “Obviously not.”
Max opened his mouth to reply, but the sound of jingling keys from the hallway stole his attention and he looked towards the open door. “That’ll be Cassandra.” He murmured, automatically standing up to greet her. Taehyung was still for a moment, before he too got to his feet.
She looked a little flustered as she entered the living room, her cheeks a little reddened from the wind outside and a few stray strands of curls dangling around her face from where they had fallen from her up-do. Her eyes moved from Taehyung to Max, before returning to the former, a slight frown visible as she unbuttoned her thick coat and laid it across the armrest of the sofa. “Oh, you’re still here?” She asked the younger man, a little surprised to see him, before her eyes fell on the child in the car seat. “How is he?” She smiled, attention captured for a moment as she walked over the window and bent down to touch his forehead lightly.
“He’s been asleep for a while.” Max followed her to the bright corner of the room, touching her forearm as she straightened up and pulling her into a soft kiss. “How did it go?” He murmured softly against her lips.
Pulling away, she looked over to Taehyung who was still standing and offered a weak smile before turning back to Max. “I stumbled on a few of the questions.” She murmured, tucking her hair behind her ear.
“I’m sure you’ll have got it.”
The deepness of Taehyung’s voice took her by surprise and she turned back to look at him, shaking her head. It had been a while since she had felt so put on the spot, and she felt her cheeks growing warm with embarrassment at the two pairs of eyes fixed on her. She had been nervous about the interview, which had taken place in a small office, opposite the museum itself. The questions had been preceded by an audition where she had been required to read from a series of books without making a mistake. Putting on the voices of the various anthropomorphised animals had been easy, but reading out loud to a room of serious-looking adults had been a challenge. She had to bite the inside of her cheek several times to stop herself from chuckling.
“There was a lot of competition.” She argued lightly, looking down at her plain, sensible shoes.  “We’ll see…”
“You’re good with children.” Taehyung said, lowering his voice. She sensed the sincerity in his tone and looked up, meeting his gaze.
“And acting.” Max chipped in from behind her. She turned to him and smiled softly.
“I didn’t realise you’d seen her act before.” The other man said, making her wince. She turned to look at him, observing his calm expression as he watched her boyfriend carefully.
Max smiled nervously. “I haven’t…” He admitted. “But she’s told me about it.” He hesitated, before adding... “And I’ve seen her read to Gabriel.”
Cassandra shook her head modestly. “It’s different reading to other people’s children.” She touched Max’s arm lightly, encouraging him to sit down. “Plus, they’re older.”
“At least you won’t have to deal with the parents.” He replied, waiting for her to join him on the two-person sofa and wrapping his fingers around her shoulder as she lowered herself.
Taehyung followed their cue and returned to his seat opposite, picking up his phone and sliding it into the pocket of his navy trousers. “Have you thought about childcare arrangements?” He asked.
Cassandra paused, a little tentatively. “I was going to talk to you about that...”
“I don’t mind taking him.” Max squeezed her shoulder. “It’s only part-time, and...”
“I don’t mind taking him either.” Taehyung interrupted.
She looked at them both, turning from Max to Taehyung with a small, inpatient sigh. “We can talk about that if I get the job. Aren’t you late for your date?”
“He’s just picking her up from work.” Max said teasingly, meeting the other man’s eye when he looked up challengingly. Cassandra wondered if the younger man was going to argue, but the moment passed.
“What time does she finish?” She asked, diffusing the situation.
“Four.” He murmured.
Cassandra looked at her watch; the small, shimmery face catching the sunlight as it filtered through the open blinds. “You’d better hurry, the traffic was bad.” She suggested, getting to her feet in an encouraging gesture. Taehyung was still for a moment, before he joined her.
Max watched as the younger man slowly walked over to the car seat and bent down to kiss his son’s cheek. “I’ll be in the kitchen.” He murmured, standing up to give them space. “Do you want tea?” He asked Cassandra who nodded with a smile.
“Thank you.” She murmured, leading the way into the hall and finding Taehyung’s coat among the garments draped over the banister.
He took it from her with a quiet thanks, slipping the navy felted fabric over his light sweater. “I’m glad you decided to go for the job. You love museums.” He said softly, once again admiring the formal attire she had donned. It seemed impossible to him, at that moment, anyone would be able to resist hiring her. After she had phoned him he had looked up the advertisement himself and read the person's specification carefully. The role was to accommodate school visits to the Folk Museum, reading stories and acting the part of historical figures in interactive exhibits. Her next words confirmed what he had thought, and he smiled as her eyes opened wide; her lips turning up at the corners.
“It just sounded perfect.” She folded her arms, though was unable to stop herself from beaming, a little bashfully. “I wasn’t sure if something like that would come up again. And it feels like the right time.”
He reached for her elbow, touching it affectionately. “You’ve been feeling restless.” He agreed, knowing that while she hadn’t said as much, he had sensed it over the past few months during his visits.
She nodded, a little guiltily. “I’ve not had a lot to do.”
He sighed softly, sensing she was ashamed of admitting this. “You’re raising our son Cass.” He protested lightly. “That’s important.”
She looked up at him, meeting his gaze soberly. “I know.” She agreed reluctantly, knowing he was right. “It’s just not what I imagined I’d be doing.” She confessed. “At least not for a while…”
There was a pause between them and Taehyung found himself thinking; eyebrows knitting together, though he didn’t judge her. “Do you wish things had been different?” He slowly asked, keeping his voice low as he looked briefly towards the doorway which opened onto the living room. He could just see Max in the kitchen beyond, walking towards the fridge and opening the door. “That you’d have waited for somebody else?”
She followed his gaze quietly, observing the other man as he poured a little oat milk into his steaming mug of coffee. Looking back, she reached for Taehyung’s shoulder, brushing it gently. “You’re a good dad.” She frowned, realising a moment after she said it that it didn’t answer his question.
His eyes seemed heavy beneath his long eyelashes; the same ones her son had inherited. “But you’re not in love with me.” He said softly as she drew away, moving her hand back to her side.
It wasn’t a question, though she read nothing more in his tone. A pinging sound rang from his pocket, notifying him of another message and she suspected it was coming from his date. She checked her watch again, noting it was a quarter to four, and sighed. “You should go.”
He pulled up the sleeve of his coat to check the automaton face of his watch and nodded. “I’ll see you tomorrow.” Moving forward, he reached for the door handle; a cool, refreshing breeze filling the hallway as it opened. Cassandra watched him from behind as he tucked his coat closer and crossed the boundary of the property.
“Tae?” She called softly, waiting for him to talk back before she spoke. His brown eyes met hers and she found herself falling silent for a moment, lips twisting as she folded her arms. “Be nice to her.” She eventually said, voice little more than a weak murmur.
He didn’t speak at first and she wondered if he had heard her. After a few seconds, his forehead creased. “Why wouldn’t I be?” He asked gently.
She shook her head a little somberly, biting her lip. “I don’t know…” The sound of the living room door creaking open made her turn back to her boyfriend who was standing in the frame. She gave a small wave, signalling she would join him in a minute. “Thanks for looking after Gabriel.” She finished, offering Taehyung a small smile as he buried his hands deep in his coat pocket, against the cold.
“No problem.” He murmured, turning to walk away.

The double doors to the emergency room burst open with a team of paramedics meeting a team of nurses over the limp body that was being rushed in on a gurney.
"26-year-old male. One of many from the four-car pile-up on Highway 400. Blunt head trauma —shattered ribs, compound fractures in both legs. He's unconscious, showing premature signs of decline. We need to get him stabilized immediately."
"Prepare the operation room." One of the nurses orders and the chaos moves around the corner with the gurney.
A team of trauma surgeons and nurses worked frantically to stabilize him. He was quickly assessed for injuries, and diagnostic tests revealed the extent of the damage he had sustained
The man suffered from internal injuries, including a punctured lung and severe abdominal trauma. There was a point when doctors were sure he wouldn't make it but they were wrong.
After undergoing several surgeries in the first few days following the accident, including procedures to repair his fractured bones, remove damaged tissue, and stabilize his internal injuries he was beginning to show small signs of improvement.
However, it was only the beginning of a very long and hard journey for him.
𓆩♡𓆪 2 months later
"Where is she?" You stand up at the sight of your brother-in-law, Jin rushing into the waiting room of the labour and delivery wing. Face flushed and hair a bit frazzled. He'd obviously run here from the parking lot.
"Down the hall to your left. They're just running some tests and checking the baby." He pauses in his steps, letting it all sink in. Placing a hand on his chest as he tried to stabilize his breathing.
Taking the chance to place a reassuring hand on his shoulder. "Everything is going to be okay, breathe." You encourage, taking tips from the Lamaze classes your sister had made the three of you take in preparation for this baby.
He smiles before making his way to his wife and out of sight.
Meanwhile, you stayed put in the waiting room as your sister made it very clear she did not want you in the room any time her vagina was out and you weren't going to argue.
Seeing that the doctors needed to check up on the baby once the two of you arrived no less than 15 minutes ago, you had already excused yourself to the hall.
Once you saw the familiar nurse you remember being assigned to your sister walk past you, you deemed it was safe enough to return to her room. Knocking first with your hand over your eyes.
There was soft laughter, "It's been put away, you can open your eyes." Eunji says, allowing you to lower your palm from your gaze to see Seokjin sitting on a chair nestled near Eunji's bedside.
"Wow, they've got you hooked up like a TV." You snort, pointing to the IV drip, pulse oximeter, and various other tubes taped to her arm.
Shaking her head at your typical Y/n-Antics but refusing to acknowledge your joke any further. "What did the nurse say?" Jin asks, almost anxiously, taking her hand in his.
"The baby is fine, she's healthy, but I'm a long way from giving birth. Apparently-" Eunji pauses, her eyes squeezing shut just as they did back at your place when the two of you discovered she'd been having contractions.
Taking deep breaths she opens her eyes and resumes speaking as if it never happened, "Apparently I'm only one centimeter dilated. I'm already tired of this place." She pouts sadly while Jin gently moves a stray hair from out of her face.
You sighed internally, hoping that one day you'd find that.
"I'm just glad you guys made it here safely. The roads are getting worse with that blizzard coming in tonight." Jin shares which prompts you to check your phone while the couple talks about what a normal couple would discuss at a time like this.
Jin was right. There in fact was a blizzard heading your way and it was nasty. Up to six feet of snow in some regions and harsh winds. It was practically impossible to see the road through all the flurries on your way here.
It was unsafe for anyone to be driving at a time like this hence why Eunji had already begged your parents to stay home until the roads were safe. No matter how much she knew your parents wanted to be present for the birth of their first grandchild it was just too dangerous.
This winter was packed with a punch this year. You can't forget the first major storm of the season about two months ago that blindsided everyone.
The severity of the storm dawns on you as you remember driving past a nasty collision on the highway on your way home from work.
You could only hope that this would be the end of the strenuous icy season and that spring would be just around the corner. You were looking forward to the blossoming season of spring but not as much as you were looking forward to holding your niece in your arms in just a few short hours.
𓆩♡𓆪
Clearly, you and your niece weren't on the same page.
It's been 4 hours and the hospital was on lockdown, any visitors in the building were forbidden from leaving due to the severity of the storm outside. Honestly, some part of you believed you would have been able to hold your niece and go home all in the last three hours, but oh how you were wrong.
"What do you mean you're only 3 centimetres along?" You say, exhausted from waiting. "Oh, I'm sorry Y/n, are you tired? How inconsiderate of me!" She exclaims, clearly annoyed with you.
You dropped your shoulders, you deserved that. Eunji had been battling her contractions restlessly for hours on end, you couldn't imagine how she felt.
"Do you want me to get you anything?" She shakes her head while Jin returns with a full cup of ice for her to chew on. Your stomach rumbles, and not quietly.
"You should go down to the cafeteria and get something to eat. I'll stay with Eunji." Jin offers and you nod, deciding it was time for a break anyway.
With your bag slung over your shoulder, you stood in the café line, unsure what to get before deciding to get a typical iced coffee and a turkey sandwich.
Once it came time to find a spot, your eyes were scanning every nook and cranny of the filled cafeteria due to the overwhelming number of people trapped in this building just as you were.
Finally, you found one available spot, at an occupied table. "Is anyone sitting here?" You ask the man who was enjoying his own coffee. "It's all yours," He smiles and you reciprocate it as you take a seat.
Paying him no mind as you bite into your meal and pull out the book you've been reading over the last few weeks.
"The String of Fate," The man across from you mumbles as he reads the title of your book causing your eyes to flicker to his. "What's it about?" You close the book almost too eagerly.
"Do you believe in soulmates?" He blinks at you.
"Y'know, like two people that are destined to be together no matter the time or place." His brow arches. "Not a chance." You frown, "Well, basically this book explains the concept of soulmates and how they're connected by this invisible string between them that will always guide them back to each other. No matter the time or place."
He sighs heavily, head now resting on his hand. "I'm gonna take a shot in the dark here and assume that you believe in soulmates?"
"What's there not to believe? It makes total sense-" You ask, about to take your first bite of your sandwich. "I wouldn't eat that if I were you," He says quickly, and you close your mouth, placing the sandwich back down.
"Why not?" He simply stares at you, "Trust me. I've been here long enough to know." You nod slowly, "You must visit a lot."
With a shrug of his shoulders, he finishes the last of his coffee, "Something like that." He mumbles.
Your stomach reminds you of the hunger you'd just permitted to exist longer all in the name of this handsome stranger you'd just met. "So what can I eat here?"
He grins and your stomach twists.
"Follow me." You pack up your stuff and stand. Unable to process your thoughts once the man moves away from the table in his wheelchair.
"Oh c'mon, don't give me that look." He sighs.
"What look?" You counter, genuinely confused.
"That look of 'oh my gosh, he's in a wheelchair. Now everything is different.'" He says in a slightly raised tone.
"First of all, I didn't think that at all. I was just shocked." He looked almost deflated until you spoke up, "So are we still getting jello or what?" He smiles, leading the way.
-
"Hey! Hey! Mister Lightning McQueen, do you mind slowing down a bit? Or at least tell me your name so I don't have to keep yelling mister." You pant, finally catching up to him at the end of the hall.
"Sorry." He flushes a light pink before a quick clearing of his throat, "I'm Jungkook." He stretches his hand and you shake it gently, "Y/n." You say, the two of you hold hands a little longer than necessary before a visitor attempts to get by and you pull your hand away first.
Fast forward to the two of you sitting on the chairs in god knows which wing of the hospital, the building was so damn big. Licking the spoons of your delicious cherry jello as you were both facing the window that looked out into the midnight sky.
"So what brings you here tonight?" He asks as he scoops around his cup for another spoonful. "My sister is giving birth. At least that's what I thought was supposed to happen but the baby doesn't want to come yet." He laughs, "That's amazing. Not the part about the baby holding your sister's womb hostage but- you know what I'm trying to say."
Unable to control your laughter at his bizarre wording, "Yeah, I get it." A silence falls between the two of you, sitting on your shoulders. You wanted to say something but you weren't sure- "It's okay, Y/n. You can ask." He speaks without even looking at you. Focused on getting his next spoon of jello.
"How did you end up here?" You ask and Jungkook begins the age-old story. He was coming home from work during that crazy storm 2 months ago. He said he didn't remember much from the actual accident, one second he's in his lane and the next there's an eighteen-wheeler sliding right into him and dragging two others in with him.
"I don't even remember being rushed in here, I just remember waking up 3 days later and the doctors telling me I was lucky to be alive. Telling me I had basically injured every bone I had. Head trauma, shattered ribs, a punctured lung, fractured both my legs- and the list goes on."
Your jaw falls open. Hand raising to cover your mouth for two reasons.
"You really are lucky to be alive."
It seems that Jungkook disagrees, "Yet I don't feel all that lucky. I wake up to the same faces, getting poked at and pricked every hour. Going to rehab every other day, my body hurts constantly. I can't even count how many painkillers and antibiotics I take every morning." You frown.
"I'm grateful to be making progress of course, but sometimes It feels like the world is passing me by while I'm standing still-- or sitting, for that matter.." You'd never connected to anything more.
"I totally understand. Under different circumstances of course, but I think I get what you mean. Ever since I was 7 I'd had this perfect vision of how my life should be by the time I was 25. A nice house, with a loving husband and maybe a baby on the way with my six-figure paying job but here I am, 26, sitting in a waiting room, single, waiting for my sister to have a baby so that I can go home to my office job that sure as hell doesn't pay enough for a nice house."
Your story provokes a soft chuckle to come rumbling from Jungkook's chest and you swat at him. "And it's like, you want to take steps forward but it's almost like you can't because everything is out of your control. The most decisive factor of a good life is controlled by everyone but you. It sucks." Jungkook expands on your thoughts further and you'd never felt so seen before.
"I-" You begin but the PA system begins to blare someone's voice as they make an announcement.
"Code Yellow. Code Yellow." Jungkook's vision darts to his wristwatch. "Shit. It's been an hour already?" You weren't following, "What's going on?" Jungkook begins to roll back, tossing away his garbage in the bin while you stand and do the same.
"Code yellow is just their dramatic way of declaring a patient is missing. Although-" His eyes fly past you and to whoever was behind you, it was a furious nurse. "Jeon Jungkook." She says and he groans, "I know- I know."
Jungkook hardly got to speak before he was being pushed away back to wherever his room was. "I hope your sister has a safe delivery." You stand still in the middle of the hall as you watch Jungkook get whisked out of sight.
Unable to stop thinking about how disappointed he looked once that nurse appeared. Clearly, he didn't want to go back. You couldn't shake what he told you, about seeing the same people every day, following the same painful routine.
You wondered if he had any family that visited him.
Speaking of which, it was time for you to return to your own.
𓆩♡𓆪
7 hours later you were finally holding the most perfect baby girl in your arms. "She's beautiful, Eunji," you say tearfully, staring at the adorable infant who was just so tiny in your arms.
"I can't believe I'm holding your baby right now." You say to no one in particular while Seokjin stands behind you looking down at the baby, he looks like he's still in awe himself.
Carefully passing her back into your sister's tired arms. You had the honour of taking their first family photo. With Seokjin's eyes full of love and your sister displaying the happiest smile you'd ever seen.
"She's perfect." You hear him whisper with a kiss to Eunji's forehead and your heart just about melts at the heartwarming sight.
𓆩♡𓆪 7 days later
The moment that you left that hospital that morning you felt almost... sad? Like you had a happiness hangover. You were truly overjoyed, you finally got to meet your niece and you met Jungkook who left an unanticipated imprint on your brain.
You tapped your nails against the desk in your cubicle, your bottom lip tucked between your teeth as your eyes glanced at the time at the bottom of the computer screen.
Your break was in 20 minutes, you had an hour to do whatever and sure, you could spend it here continuing your work so that you could go home earlier...but the hospital is nearby...
No more than a 10-minute drive.. maybe you could drop by? Just for a little?
You didn't leave yourself much time to debate it as you were already marching out of the office the moment the clock hit 12. You'd decided to pick up some flowers from the gift shop on your way up.
Following the receptionist's instructions that she gave you to locate his room with a nervous click of your heels with each step. What if he didn't want to see you? Does he even remember you?
You saw him through the glass window briefly and adjusted yourself to an angle where he couldn't see you. He was just laying there. Staring up at the ceiling, but he sat up once a nurse walked in.
It seemed that she was doing some routine checkups before pricking him with a needle of some kind. You'd always been the type to squirm with needles yet he was unfazed, it was like he couldn't even feel it.
Once she left she passed you with a small smile. Slowly you walk to the door and his gaze slowly drags towards you. His eyes smile before his lips, and he sits up.
"Y/n!" He says with such a joyful tone, you would never expect the voice to belong to someone sitting in a hospital bed. "Hi," You say, unsure of what to do with the flowers.
"Don't tell me you're still waiting for your sister to give birth." He says with a little sarcasm and you laugh with a shake of your head. "No, little miss Seol-a came fashionably late."
"As in 'snow child'? That's a perfect name." You agree. Watching him as his gaze drops to your arms. "Oh- These are for you." Bringing the small bouquet of tiger lilies to him, he accepts it gratefully.
"Thank you-- Really, you didn't have to. You visiting me is more than enough of a gift, and they're Tiger Lilies, too. Fun fact, that's actually my birth flower." It was like a lightbulb had gone off in your head but you ignored it.
Maybe that was just a coincidence, but you didn't like that word. You preferred to use something much stronger, that starts with an 'F', and ends with an 'ate'.
"Pull up a chair, please. I don't want to be the only one sitting." He insists, gesturing to the chair near the wall and you bring it a bit closer.
Letting out a soft sigh of relief once you were off your feet, "God, I hate heels." You mutter, "I'm guessing you have to wear them for that magical job of yours," Your face turns sour, "Magic isn't the word I'd use to describe it,"
Just like that the two of you fell down a rabbit hole of conversation, exchanging work experiences and even phone numbers at one point.
"So tell me, Y/n. In a perfect world, if you could just drop everything, what would you do?" You pretended to give it thought as if you hadn't known for the last decade. "I'd want to open a hair salon... Is that crazy? I don't think I've ever actually said that out loud before."
"What's stopping you?" You laugh, a little too hard, thinking of the dozens of reasons why it wasn't practical and way too impulsive but the longer you looked at his neutral expression you began to reflect on the reasons.
And they all came back to the same root, "What if I fail?" He shrugs, "You can't fail unless you give up." You couldn't believe you were actually considering this. Shaking your head dramatically, clearing your brain.
"You're such a bad influence, y'know? I can't believe you really almost made me do that." His bunny-like smile is on display when he speaks, "That wasn't me, that was your instinct. For a brief second, you just listened to your heart."
Woah.
"Wanna see something cool?" His hand raises and gestures to his lower body, and you watch as the blankets begin to stretch over the small peak that began to form under the covers as he bends his left knee slightly.
"Jungkook! That's incredible." You gasped, eyes wide and you weren't sure what came over you, but before you knew it you'd taken him in your arms.
His body was still a bit weak but his arms responded almost immediately. Holding you still for the short duration of the hug before you pulled away.
"Are you okay- I'm sorry, did I hurt you-" A small panic consumes you as Jungkook's eyes tint a faint red and well with tears. "No, no. You didn't do anything wrong. It's just been so long since someone's been so happy for me."
His words weighed down in your chest like a pile of bricks. "Does no one visit you?"
"All my friends and family came to visit right after the accident. Then it was just my best friends and my parents who came a few times a week. Soon people don't have time to visit someone who makes such little progress every day."
He continues to explain, "But I don't hold it against them. It's a time commitment. The real world is more demanding than I am and I just can't wait for the day I get to meet them out there."
Gently placing your hand on top of his, "You're gonna be out of here before you know it-" A familiar ringer goes off in your bag. You pull out your phone and stop the alarm. "Well, my break ends soon." You stand and you tell yourself that you're imagining the small frown peels over his lips.
Putting the chair back where you found it you walk to the door. "Bye Jungkook, it was good to see you again." With that, you walk away and Jungkook is left in despair. That was it? It's over?
You were just gonna walk into his room and bless him with the most revitalizing conversation he's ever had and you're leaving?
Before he gets the chance to deflate into his pillows your head pops back into the doorframe, "See you tomorrow." You wink and vanish once again. Knowing that you'd given him a little wave of sadness at first.
His shoulders shake with laughter, relieved.
𓆩♡𓆪
Staying true to your word, you in fact did go back to visit him the next day, except you went after your shift since 40 minutes simply wasn't enough time.
For the first few weeks of your daily visits, Jungkook was afraid that one day you would stop coming and he wouldn't see you again, but once three months had passed, there was no doubt in his mind he would walk out of this hospital without you by his side.
You'd even met his parents once, by accident of course. You were just leaving when they'd been walking in and of course, they had no idea who you were.
Telling them about how the two of you met was quite entertaining, Accidentally mentioning the part where Jungkook had been called a missing patient which earned him a soft pinch to his arm from his mother.
But you'll never forget the words his mother whispered in your ear as she hugged you. "Thank you for loving my son." Your cheeks flushed and you stuttered, trying to clarify things but she didn't want to hear it.
"It's okay, I know." She says with the most subtle of winks before walking off with her husband who shook your hand graciously.
Not every day was full of laughs and feasts that you'd bring him from the outside world, there were definitely down days. Days when the pain would call for a stronger dose of his medications which left him burnt out and groggy.
But there were also good days like today. You had the honour of helping Jungkook take some of his first steps for a few feet before being right behind him with the wheelchair.
You weren't able to stop your tears while Jungkook apologized to the physical therapist for your constant crying. You cried every time you saw him move on his own, but he thinks it's cute.
It's evident how much you care about him. By now your entire family knew about your blossomed friendship, and it seems he was all you could talk about. He could only hope that you knew how much he cared about you.
He would love to surprise you at work one day with lunch or take you to your favourite places. Alas, that was among the list of things he unfortunately couldn't control but promised to do once he got out.
He had a section of notes dedicated to you and all the places he would take you, it's what he always hid against his chest anytime you tried peaking.
-
"You won't believe what I just did!" Those are the first words that escape your mouth in the most dramatic of ways as you practically burst into his room.
He jolts, his book now falling forgotten from his fingers, you'd startled him and you apologized. You weren't usually here at noon. So he welcomes your explanation with a warm smile and curious eyes.
"So I went to work this morning, and they called us all in for a meeting. I was expecting another spontaneous workshop about professional behaviour or something. They drop this huge bomb on us that the company is downsizing so they're laying off a third of the company and basically cutting everyone's salary in half." It all comes out in a single breath, so you give yourself some time to breathe.
Jungkook wasn't following, "This sounds like... bad news? Am I missing something? Why do you look so happy?"
"Because I quit my job. I've been thinking about what you said for a while now, about following my heart, and I think I've always been waiting for some kind of sign or opportunity to just go for it, so today was the day." Now that you'd finally gotten the jitters out, you pulled up a chair.
"I know it's crazy, I don't know what I was thinking, but I just got off the phone with one of the property managers of those empty studios downtown and it was all so exciting and I don't even know where I'm going to get the money but I think I can-"
Jungkook finally silenced you with his lips.
He kissed you.
His lips were soft as they worked against yours. You could feel him smile as the kiss deepened. You moved out of your chair to the bed without breaking contact. Pulling away briefly for air but resuming as though you couldn't be apart for more than a second.
You weren't sure when you'd ended up on top of him with Jungkook on his back and your hips grinding down onto his softly, still a bit cautious.
"You have-" He kisses down your neck, peppering kisses between his words, "-No idea-" His lips kissing right below your ear, "-How long I've wanted to kiss you." His teeth gently nibble on the skin of your ear causing a whine to escape your lips.
Suddenly there was a fast beeping and it was only getting faster.
A nurse walks in and you just about throw yourself off of Jungkook and onto the ground. "What's going on in here? Your heart rate was way too fast, Mr. Jeon." He bites his lip nervously while you get yourself on your feet.
"Sorry, Nurse Lynn. I was just trying some new exercises and I guess I got a bit carried away." He says the last part with a lustful look in his eye when he glances towards you.
Once she left you let your hand cover your mouth in pure shock, laughing uncontrollably. "Oh my god, I can't believe that just happened." Jungkook throws his head back onto the pillows with a heavy breath.
"Those nurses can't let me have shit in here. I can't even rub one out in the shower without them barging in." Your jaw drops, "It's happened more times than I'd like to speak about." The shame that seems to swallow him up makes you laugh even harder.
-
"How's the salon going?" He's the first to ask you once you walk out of the bathroom and your shoulders drop. Taking a seat beside him on the bed, "It's a lot harder than I thought it would be. My contractor is being a total pain in the ass, but at least it's starting to come together, look-"
You swipe through the photos of the empty studio that was now painted. "I can't wait to see it." He says, and you look away from the screen. Focusing on his beautiful brown eyes. "Me too." He steals a sweet kiss from you before resuming his swipe through your phone with a cheeky grin.
For the first time, you noticed how empty his left arm was compared to his right. His right arm was covered in tattoos that the two of you had spent nearly an hour talking about once, while his left arm was blank.
"Why don't you have any tattoos on your left arm?" He places down your phone, making eye contact with you once again. "I wanna save it for something special, something meaningful, like the Batman symbol." His nerdy remark makes you snort.
𓆩♡𓆪
"Hi Jungko-Oh." This was unusual.
Of all the times you'd visited Jungkook, there was probably only one other time where you'd caught him sleeping, although that was a late night. It was only sometime around 3 in the afternoon.
You didn't want to disturb him, so you left him a little sticky note for him to read when he wakes up. You didn't want him to think that you never came.
The following day the two of you were having a bit of a hard time getting Jungkook out of bed. "I thought you wanted to do some more walking?" You offer, standing with his walker but he laid back unmotivated.
"Not today, maybe another day. I'm just a bit tired." He mumbles and you nod, "Oh. Okay." But your heart wasn't settled, something was wrong.
The week continued with his slow responses and fatigue. "Are you okay?" He hums, his eyes shutting tight as he grunts softly. "Yeah, just got a bit of a headache, that's all. I'll be better by tomorrow." He reassures you, and you insist on getting him some water.
"Nurse Lynn." You call out for the Nurse as you cross paths as you return from refilling Jungkook's water bottle. She stops and begins to approach you. "Jungkook has been acting a bit off lately. He's been really tired and he says he has a headache and I just want to know if anything is going on."
You can see that she really begins to think about anything it could be. You follow her as she goes off to check his charts. Looking through the window, Jungkook had already fallen asleep.
"His numbers seem to be fine, but we'll keep a close eye on them tonight and run some tests in the morning." Leaving you with a reassuring hand on your shoulder, but you still didn't feel any better.
You went home to your parents' house. You'd moved back home after impulsively quitting your job since there was no way you'd be able to afford your old apartment anymore. Besides, this arrangement made the most sense.
Now you were able to save your money and focus on your salon. The salon Jungkook had inspired you to open, god you couldn't stop thinking about him. Something felt off.
"Y/n?" Your dad snaps his fingers in front of you, finally catching your attention. "Sorry- What?"
"Your mom and I were wondering if you'd be joining us for dinner or if you already ate." You shake your head slowly, "It's okay, I'm not hungry."
"Is everything okay?'' Your stretches her neck from where she sat on the couch. "I don't know. Jungkook's been acting off lately and I just don't know if everything is okay." Anyone who heard you could hear the worry that wavered in your tone. You wanted nothing more than for him to be okay.
"Oh, honey." Your parents hugged you and for a moment you felt like everything was going to be okay.
Until it wasn't.
-
It was around 2 in the morning when you'd gotten a call from Jungkook's mom.
He'd gone into a coma.
You didn't find yourself to be a religious person yet you found yourself praying to any god in the sky who was listening as you drove to the hospital that he would be okay.
Running through the halls, letting out careless apologies to those you nearly bumped into as you did so. "What happened?!" You say frantically, his mother was in no state to speak, her eyes were bloodshot and her lips quivered whenever she tried to speak.
Instead, his father took on the role to tell you, "The doctors said there were unforeseen complications from his accident. There was some inflammation in his brain that went undetected and was applying pressure to his brain stem which is why he was experiencing those headaches and fatigue. They've done all they can to reduce the swelling, but there's no guarantee he'll-"
His dad struggles to finish his sentence, choking up a bit himself at the possibility of Jungkook never waking up. "C-Can I see him?" You swallow back your tears and that sore feeling in your throat as you walk in slowly.
You didn't want to cry, but the moment you saw him hooked up to all those machines, the same ones he hated so much, the way his body lay so still, it broke you.
Your cries came out more as wails than anything else, you couldn't say anything but his name. You weren't just crying, you were begging, pleading with the gods to spare him.
"Y/n-" You hear his dad's voice behind you, catching you in his arms just as you fall to your knees. He could have never anticipated a reaction quite like this one. It seems he underestimated how much Jungkook meant to you.
Now he knows.
All his friends and family knew.
As they trickled in and out of Jungkook's hospital room over the following weeks they would see you sitting by his side, the same way you did all the days before.
His mom liked to say you were there more than Jungkook was. She knew he was lucky, he'd found something special with you. A kind of love that was rare to come across these days.
You spent every waking moment beside him until visiting hours were over, and would be back the next morning the moment they begin. Your parents told you to keep yourself busy with your salon and you tried, but how could you when everything inside reminded you of him?
Today was a quiet day, with no visitors or flowers for you to find space for as his room was filled. You focused on reading to him. You'd been told that hearing familiar voices can help to stimulate brain activity and you were willing to do anything.
"As Batman ran through the dark streets of Gotham-" You chuckled to yourself, unable to take the story seriously.
According to his parents, this was his favourite comic book growing up, and you'd been reading it to him for the last few days, and yet you still weren't interested in DC.
You rummaged through the bag of books you had on the side, your fingertips grasped the familiar cover that started it all. "The String of Fate" You mumble, a soft smile as the title takes you back to the night you met.
Back then he was nothing more than an opinionated patient on the loose, and now, he was everything.
You opened the book, going back to the page you'd bookmarked as a favourite. Deciding to read it out loud for the sake of Jungkook hearing your voice.
"In the garden of destiny, soulmates blossom, each petal a reflection of the other's beauty, each leaf a testament to their shared growth. Together, they tend to the soil of their dreams, nurturing them with the water of their love, as they chase the sunsets of tomorrow, hand in hand, forever intertwined."
Your voice began to shake halfway through, and your tears landed on every other word. You closed the book, placing it back in the bag so that you could take Jungkook's hands in yours.
"Please," You whispered, "I love you."
It was no surprise to anyone. You had nothing but love for the man who changed your world for the better. He had no idea how much space he takes up in your head, your heart. It's his, it belongs to him.
"Can we come in?" There are soft knocks on the door and you're pleasantly surprised to see Jin and your sister, assuming the baby was with your parents.
"Thank you for coming," You hug them both, "If there's someone important enough that you went MIA during my labour, then I have to meet him." Eunji says jokingly and you smile sadly, "I just wish you got to meet under better circumstances."
The days turned to night then day once again, and the pattern continued endlessly for the following month. It just continued to repeat in this painful process of dwindling hope.
Nothing could have prepared you for the devastating conversation with the doctor this morning.
"Please understand, during this difficult time, we have carefully monitored Jungkook's minimal brain activity. Given the duration of his coma and after our intensive examination of his condition, if there were indications for a potential recovery leading to him waking up, we would have observed signs by now. I know this news is incredibly challenging to hear but-"
His mother wept.
"We're so sorry." The doctor says as if it was rehearsed, you couldn't imagine how many times he'd had to give such gut-wrenching news to other families.
You listened with a broken heart, unable to cry. You were all out of tears. You'd cried and cried your heart out all month, you couldn't bear the thought of it all being for such a tragic conclusion.
-
That was almost a week ago, you'd remained by Jungkook's side regardless. Never leaving, not moving.
"Y/n, Honey. You've been here all day, when's the last time you ate something, hm?" His mom gently tilted your chin upwards, you looked pale in colour and your eyes were dull with sorrow.
"I don't know, Tuesday maybe?"
It's Thursday night.
"Go." She orders, and you know that tone. She wasn't willing to negotiate this with you. She'd begun to care for you like a daughter of her own, and as much as she respected and adored your dedication to her son, it was just as important that you were healthy.
Still following Jungkook's advice, you avoided most of the shops in the cafeteria except for a select few that he deemed sanitary. Sitting at one of the tables by yourself, you poked at your food, not all that hungry but you took bites anyway.
Taking a long sip from your water bottle you ignored the buzzing from your phone. You're sure it's just the contractors giving you a hard time again. You were set to open in a few months from now and you'd never felt more grateful for your mom stepping in to help while you were.. away.
Your phone buzzes once more, you finally check the messages.
Ever since that night, every time Mrs. Jeon messaged you, it left you with a pit in your stomach, quite like the one in your stomach right now.
She was calling you back to Jungkook's room immediately.
Completely abandoning your half-eaten meal on the table as you rushed back up to the room you'd begun to know like the back of your hand.
There his parents were, teary-eyed as they sat outside his room, making calls and texting loved ones. Soon you saw a team of nurses walking out of his room with some medical technology that you're sure had very complicated names and--
Oh no.
Your brain was putting the pieces together. What was once a pit had evolved into a full-fledged sinkhole. Your hands were shaking as you walked into the room, eyes landing on his body, not expecting to meet his familiar brown orbs.
They blinked at you slowly. Just like the first time you'd visited, they smiled before his lips did. "There she is," His voice was weak, understandably but it still had that softness to it.
Your body was overwhelmed and unable to make any coherent sounds. You were standing still as a statue. You pulled your bottom lip between your teeth to stop your lips from quivering but you couldn't stop it.
Your breathing became shallow and the sound of your heart drumming in your ears seemed much louder than it did a minute ago. You felt like your eyes were playing tricks on you.
"Is it-" Your voice airy and broken, not wanting this to be a dream. You so desperately needed this to be real. He nods slowly with a grin, "It's me." Just when you thought you had no more tears left, there were more spilling down your cheeks.
Finally picking up your feet and walking over to him with broken sobs, meeting him at the side of the bed. On your knees with his arms around you while you held him in yours. "I thought I lost you." You swat him with teary eyes and a small laugh.
"You can never lose me, Y/n, and I want to make sure of that." He says, and your head tilts instinctively. "What do you mean?"
"Marry me."
Eyes wide and your mouth nearly kissing the floor.
"You can't be serious," Oh how you hoped he was serious.
"You've been by my side every step of the way. When I walk through those hospital doors one last time, I want to be beside the woman I love. Let me spend the rest of my life making you as happy as you've made me." Now he was the one getting misty eyes.
Your mouth struggled to keep up with the eager nodding of your head. "Yes." Holding his face in your hands and kissing him like you'd longed to do for weeks.
Finally.
"Wait- You don't have a ring," Jungkook leans slightly for the box of band-aids on the side table. "Jungkook, I don't need-'' Your efforts go in vain as he shushes you kindly, taping the band-aid around your ring finer.
"It's symbolic for now until I can get you the real thing."
-
Nothing could have prepared you for the busy year ahead of you. Between visiting Jungkook, opening a salon and planning a wedding things were beginning to get chaotic but it all seemed to fade in importance once Jungkook finally got to go home.
And you were right, he was home just in time for Thanksgiving, and he had a lot to be thankful for. He made that clear during his speech at your parents' annual Thanksgiving dinner.
The fact he was able to stand for it was reason enough. Although he wasn't able to walk far distances, he was improving every day, and it just warmed your heart.
Your speech wasn't nearly as tear-jerking as Jungkook's was, but you still had a lot to be grateful for. Just looking around the table from where you stood, smiling at your parents, your sister with Jin and Seol-a, Jungkook's parents, and Jungkook, of course.
Everything you ever wanted was right in front of you.
Keeping your speech short and sweet, "And I know she's grateful for that huge rock on her finger." Eunji whispers loudly causing the table to erupt in a fit of giggles, the tips of your ears turn red as you smile shyly.
From Thanksgiving to the opening day of your Salon. Staring up to look at your name written out in a cursive font across the top of the building you were in awe. "Pinch me," you mutter sarcastically, not expecting Jungkook to actually pinch you.
With a pout you rubbed the pink mark he left on your arm as the two of you walked into the moderately busy salon. Your mom had sent out flyers and emails about the opening day all season.
You wouldn't have been able to do it without her.
"I'm so proud of you," Jungkook whispers and you turn to face him with the look of a puppy. "I wouldn't be here if it wasn't for you," He shakes his head, "I didn't do anything. This was all you, all you had to do was listen to your heart." Giving him one of those upside-down smiles you wrap your arms around him, talking into his chest.
"I can't wait to marry you."
Before you knew it, the wait was over.
Today is the day.
You could only stress about one day so much, you'd gone over every last detail down to the very inch and you were sure it was going to be perfect, after all, you'd had it all planned out in your head since you were 7 and Jungkook was more than happy oblige, 'as long as I get to marry you', he would say.
Your wedding was beautiful, it left your guests breathless the moment they entered the venue and the ceremony hadn't even begun yet.
Your wedding had its own special and heartfelt twist to it. Instead of Jungkook standing ready at the altar, he had the honour of picking a heartfelt song to walk down the aisle to with no arm crutches or wheelchair to support him. Nothing but his parents on either side holding one of his arms.
Some of the audience cheered while some let their tears fall quietly, knowing how far Jungkook had come to get to this point. Once he made it to the front, his best man, Jimin, handed him his arm crutches once again.
Soon the rest of the bridal party had made their way down the aisle, prompting the audience to stand. All heads turned to the grand double doors that soon opened as a romantic instrumental of "Look After You" began to play.
Jungkook could hardly see you from the distance he was standing but just knowing that you were walking towards him had him choking up already.
By the time he really could see you, he couldn't. His eyes are cloudy with tears until Jimin hands him his pocket square to wipe his eyes. Blinking the rest of his tears away, he smiles at you.
You looked beautiful.
Like God's most perfect creation sent down from heaven. There you were, smiling back at him with those angel eyes of yours. It would be a lie to say you didn't want to cry but the last thing you wanted was to ruin your makeup.
However, you weren't so strong when it came time to listen to Jungkook's vows after just finishing yours.
"You once asked me if I believed in soulmates, and I remember saying it was a load of crap. I had no idea they were sitting right in front of me. Your unconditional and unchanging demonstration of love has completely changed me from the inside out. Through you, I breathe again, and for you, my heart beats. Today, I give you more than just my word. I give you mind, I give you my soul, my everything. I pray from this day forward we will chase the sunsets of tomorrow, hand in hand, forever."
The last part he recites from the passage of your book you'd read to him while he was still unconscious. Your makeup is now a victim to the stream of hot, salty tears that flowed from your eyes, "You heard me." You say just loud enough for only him to hear you. He smiles. "I heard you."
With no more tears and the unravelling of a touching ceremony,
"I now pronounce you husband and wife. You may kiss the bride."
This was it. The moment Jungkook had been anticipating for months. Unclipping himself from the crutches around his arms, he hands them to Jimin.
He stretches out his arms dramatically, pretending to crack his neck.
Carefully taking your face in his hands, knowing how important it was to you that he didn't smudge anything, but your lipstick was going to need some reapplication after the way he pivoted and swooped you down for the most passionate of kisses.
The kind where your leg raises in the air while the photographer gets the money shot, capturing the bright smiles all around.
As if it was possible, the reception was even better than the ceremony. The toasts were both funny and touching. All eyes were on the happy couple who sat at their special table on the elevated platform for all to see.
Unable to hear what was being said but they could only assume it was something heartfelt based on the way your hands had clasped over your mouth.
Jungkook had just rolled up the sleeve of his left arm, showing you a new tattoo that you'd never seen. It was a delicate dark vine that wrapped around his forearm, with blossoming flowers, encircling the words 'Garden of Destiny', just like from your book.
"Are those-" You point to the types of flowers, "Tiger Lilies and Cosmos, your birth flower? Yeah." You pout, "Please don't cry, you'll be so upset if you ruin your makeup." He gently moves a loose strand of your hair from your face with the same hand you'd just been examining, and that's when it hits you.
"It's on your left arm." He grins,
"Of course it is."

Sitting on the kitchen floor with a half empty bottle of vodka at your side wasn’t how you planned your New Year’s Eve. Staring at the kitchen cabinet with a vacant expression wasn’t how you wanted it to go either, yet here you were alone, and empty. The sound of people in the streets screaming and cheering drunkenly as the clock got closer to midnight was the only thing keeping your mind present and not drifting your thoughts to him. His large eyes and wide smile that could capture a crowd’s attention in an instant. His laugh that would roar across a room with delight causing others to smile and laugh themselves. Everything about him seemed perfect, but you should have known that there was no such thing as perfect and someone pretending to be perfect would eventually slip.
And slip he did, right through a thick piece of ice.
Not literally of course, the heat in your country heated the water before it even had a chance to drop to such a temperature to freeze. No, his perfect façade faded. One day it was good morning texts, the next it was you asking if he was okay and him not replying till 4pm in the afternoon with one word – not even bothering to ask if you were okay. Trying to get a conversation out of him was like trying to squeeze shit through a straw, completely pointless. Yet there you were, trying and holding onto what was left. The hopeless romantic in you refusing to believe that it had fizzled out and he was no longer interested in spending time with you or wanting to know how your day had gone.
Just silence.
‘You’re so young, don’t worry about it’. Young? Yes. Tired? Exhausted. You had been known for the theatrics and anytime you tried to explain how tired and drained you were, they simply scoffed and told you that you’d be over it before you know it. It was easy for them, their husbands, wives, partners were their first or their second. Yet, you had a long history of short relationships that lead nowhere and were often fake while they chased who they really wanted. Then you met him. Over a year you had him where you wanted him to be and it felt nice to be able to tell people you had someone and it to be still the same the next time you spoke. He fit perfectly into the life you had imagined, never asking for too much and never expecting too little. Perfect.
Or was it really perfect? Did you see what you wanted to see? Did you ignore the signs he gave and pushed them back? Of course, if you didn’t then you wouldn’t be sitting on the kitchen floor, half drunk and thinking of every little thing he did – or didn’t do.
He did bring you your favourite food whenever he could. He did tell you what he liked most about you. He did support everything you did. He did protect you at every chance and he did introduce you to his friends as soon as you agreed. He respected who you were and the boundaries you had set. He did make you laugh, and a smile would always grace your face when his name was mentioned, or he walked into a room.
He didn’t tell you he loved you till you would. He wouldn’t go out of his way to see you when he was free. He did put his friends first. He did make you cry without knowing. He didn’t answer calls when you needed him most.
But that’s normal, right? He had his life to live, he couldn’t drop everything to run at your beck and call. So why did you? Why were you first on the scene when his smile fell? Why were you the first to schedule a date? Why was it always you telling him you loved him first, and sometimes only you?
“You’re being very dramatic,” Sasha says walking into the kitchen in her new year’s outfit.
“Is that right?” you reply in a monotone voice.
“You should come to the party! Everyone is going to be there, it’ll be fun.”
“I don’t feel like fun.”
“You don’t look like much fun,” Enya jokes walking into the kitchen, clearly not reading the room. Sasha shoots her a glare before returning her attention to you.
“Come on, I have a dress you can wear.”
“No thanks,” you say, “I’m good here.”
She sighs and looks at Enya with a concerned look, Enya simply shrugged in return before turning on her heels and walking out of the kitchen.
“Y/N,” she says kneeling down in front of you, “This isn’t going to help you.”
“I don’t want it to,” you reply, “I just want to feel it out.”
“You’ve been feeling it out for 3 months.”
“We were together for a year, I have another 3 to go,” you tell her. Half the relationship time and that is how long you’re allowed to feel sad about it they say.
“That’s a terrible phrase,” she groans standing up, “I’ll leave the dress and shoes by the door if you change your mind. Change into the clothes, don’t come in that.”
You look down at the dirty sweatpants and oversized jumper before meeting eye contact, “But this is such a look.”
“I’m not going to tell you what you look like,” she smiles before checking her bag, “We’re going.”
“Have fun.”
“We will!” Enya shouts opening the front door, “Fuck it’s freezing!”
“They think it’ll snow,” Sasha says, “Unusual for here since it’s always so hot.”
“Reverse global warming,” Enya laughs.
“I wish,” Sasha groans walking out of the kitchen, “Bye Y/N!”
You picked up the half empty bottle of vodka and took another swig before groaning and kicking it away from you. Everything felt bad and smelt bad if they got too close to you. Half of you hated what you had become and the other loved the miserable, empty feeling that resided. But Sasha was right, even though you hated to admit it. You needed to feel something different than the empty yearning feeling, and maybe a party surrounded by people who were too drunk to care that you were quiet would do the trick.
Right?
Wrong. The music was loud, the people were a lot drunker than first anticipated and to make it worse you forgot that the whole point of New Year’s Eve was the midnight kiss. You could always hide in a toilet or on a balcony while it happened, but there was something about it that made you feel a lot worse than just standing around watching everyone kiss a stranger.
“You’re here!” Sasha screams letting go of Hoseok’s hand, “And you smell nice!”
“I showered,” you reply as she shook you left to right excitedly, “Where’s Enya?”
“Her and Taehyung are playing a game of who can drink the most shots in a minute. She lost the first two rounds, she’s determined now.”
“Jeez, how many did Taehyung drink?”
“1, she couldn’t finish them,” Sasha laughs spilling her drink, “Shit! Come on let’s both get a drink.”
“I think I’ve had enough,” you say as she pulls you between the crowd of people.
“You had two swigs of vodka, that’s just a double!”
“Three.”
“Well drink a coke or something then,” she says throwing a can at you, except it misses and goes straight into the back of the person behind you.
“I’m so sorry!” Sasha screams.
“That really hurt!” she cries dramatically, you thrown as you pick it up off the floor as the boy, she was with crouches down with you.
“Thanks,” you mumble as your hand meets his over the can, a spark ran up your arm and you immediately knew who’s hand you had touched. His.
“Shit,” Sasha whispers from behind you.
“Y/N,” Jungkook smiles sadly.
“Yeah, hi,” you say taking the can off him and walking out of the kitchen. The first time you see him, and he was with someone else… and she was a lot prettier than you could ever imagine to be.
“No wait,” he says following you through the crowd and onto the balcony.
“What?” you ask trying to freeze your now piping hot cheeks.
“Your bright red,” he replies worryingly, “Are you okay?”
“Just hot,” you say putting the cold can to your cheek.
He laughs and looks at you intently, “I’m not with her by the way. She was asking me about my shirt.”
“She was flirting with you.”
“No, she wasn’t.”
You sit on the cold, hard floor, and groan, “Yes she was Jungkook.”
“Oh, I didn’t realise.”
“Of course, you didn’t,” you say lifting your head and closing your eyes. You feel his body sit down next you as he shifts awkwardly.
“How have you been?”
“The usual.”
He nods his head, “I deserve that.”
“Deserve what?” you groan.
“The coldness.”
“Yeah, you do,” you say looking at him, “Tell me, did I deserve it?”
“No, you really didn’t.”
“Didn’t think so.”
It fell silent once more as he fiddled with his hands in front of him.
“I’m sorry,” he says breaking the silence.
“You’re 3 months too late.”
“I feel like I’m 6 months too late. I didn’t treat you the best towards the end.”
“Well, you were trying to give me a clue,” you tell him with a sigh.
“No, I wasn’t. I was really struggling with university and work and I lost sight of who I was and who I had around me. I took a lot for granted.”
You shrug your shoulders as you watched everyone inside laugh and practically fall over each other. Yet here you were, on a balcony with your ex-boyfriend who was apologising over and over.
“No offense Jungkook, but I don’t want anymore apologies. They’re pointless,” you interrupt, “You can’t apologise for being an asshole 3 months after being one.”
“I know, you like action not words,” he says, “How can I show you?”
“By being considerate to your next girlfriend,” you tell him standing up, “And telling her you love her from time to time.”
“I love you,” he says, “I did then, I do now, and I will – forever and always,” Jungkook says before you opened the door to the party. Turning to look at him you saw the sincere, nervous look he had when you first met.
“Tell it to your next one,” you reply opening the door and pushing through the crowd. He didn’t come after you and you didn’t expect him to. The words you had left him with were harsh, but at least he knew how it felt to not have the person you love say it back.
Now it was time to focus on not losing what is left of you and stopping the anxiety you felt when you looked back at everything you had given him.
Except just one thought lingered as you walked home.
Had you wasted the best of you on him?

— A gente passou o dia todo juntos, amor. Como você ainda ta com saudades? — Ele disse, implicando com você.
— A gente quase não se viu essa semana, Jin... Ah, fica quieto e me abraça, ta?
→ MIN YOONGI:
Tumblr media
→ KIM TAEHYUNG:
Tumblr media
— Amor, eu to resolvendo umas coisas do trabalho, preciso me concentrar.

StarLight - Prologue (on Wattpad)
Two girls. Two tickets. And an unexpected encounter which left a worldwide celebrity star-struck and one random tourist to Korea with a phone call that changed her life. Sometimes it becomes hard to believe things simply because they are too good to true. And sometimes that in itself is enough to stop these things from happening. The heart often leads people to places the mind deems impossible and that is where it begins for these two.
-------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
How much does this lady speak?
This was my first thought when I started hearing her babbling non-stop in English and this is still the thought running through my head as I watched her to see how she’s gonna get out of this little pickle with that tongue of hers.
I mean does she really think everyone who stands on a ledge is about to kill themselves? Even if I could converse excellently in English I wouldn’t have been able to get a word in edgewise. Even Namjoon hyung would have run for his life.
She is turning back now and looking at me with an expression that can only be described as one that is…absolutely terrified.
Well, she did get herself stuck in a hole in the ground with a strange man. It would probably be a dream come true if I decide to reverse the situation with a small reveal. But I decided against it. Who knew if she was even sane, what with all that jumping she does into ridiculous conclusions. Does she think everybody who stands on a ledge are going to the kill themselves?!
“Ch-cham-chamshimanyo…can you turn around for a bit? I need to climb up but I really can’t do it without hiking my dress up a bit…so if you would please…”
Should I say it? No…i wanna see where this goes…
 I do turn around.
And walk around the rock we are standing on, onto the mud steps I climbed down to get here in the first place, walk over the ledge of the rock on top and look down.
She did manage to climb halfway up.
Impressive, with that attire too…and boots on top of it!
She still hasn’t seen me. I clear my throat from above and she looks up only to let out a yelp and loose her balance. I immediately extend my hand towards her and she attempts to grasp on to me, but ends up scratching me in the process of reaching out to a root sticking out.
“How the hell did you reach up!”
I straightened up and turned my head in the direction of the steps.
She let out a huff and climbed down to walk up the steps, now stomping in my direction.
“So you just let me do all that acrobatics when you knew there was another way out? Im sure my desperation wasn’t lost within the language barrier. I mean the message would have been clear when I started hitching my skirt up at least!”
“I am sorry” I say with both my palms raised up in surrender, lest she jumps on me or something. She looked really mad.
“So much for trying to save your ass!” She scoffs. And with it she kind of shifts her weight to one leg as she crossed her arms. The only problem was she was right at the ledge and her boot slipped.
I jumped forward and caught her before she fell, my hands securing her firmly by the waist.
At that moment the stadium floodlights flashed for the test run. The blinding light hit her eyes and for a moment her face was in the spot light revealing dark brown eyes framed by the longest lashes I had ever seen. She soon began blinking and twitching in my arms. I released her. But only after whispering, “So much for you trying to save my ass.”
