Have you read one fanfic on AO3 titled Re:Incarnated? One of the most interesting and new aspects of this story for me was Subaru being reborn as a half-elf by Satella. I bet no one has ever thought and acted on that idea before, but there are some questions that bother me, for example, in the canon series there are moments where Subaru relies on Earth's modern technology and knowledge to solve difficult problems, Subaru becomes a half-elf in the world of Rezero and that means that he forgets about his previous life on Earth in Japan, and then when faced with the same dilemma How should Subaru solve it? But I feel these questions should go wait for the original author's update to get answered.

I have to say that fic opened a new door for my inspiration, and I also started to think about creating my own Subaru's elf or half-elf AU, and even imagined a crossover with Lord of the Rings (after all, there's a ton of Lord of the Rings and Harry Potter crossover fics on AO3 and fanfiction) Like one day Subaru is for whatever reason transported to Middle-earth by Satella accidentally and experienced something there, and then how he was found and adopted by the elves of Middle-earth, I think it would be very interesting how the elves of Middle-earth were surprised to find out that elves existed in the Otherworld, Subaru looks similar to them but differs in a few places,and then how Subaru got along with the elves of Middle-earth, and how he explored his own existence and self-worth,how would it be different than the canon series (My half-elf Subaru's character isn't too far off from the canon) Sorry I'm getting a bit carried away, I'm an incorrigible and extreme fan of crossover tropes, I hope you don't mind too much!

as for re:incarnated - i read a chapter or two AGES ago, so i really dont remember much of the fic sadly T^T but ill consider possibly going back to it and reading through it!!! i have a very long to read list though so ill see pfft. and yeah i think that fic was def like. one of if not the first fic to have like half elf subaru as an idea be explored and it also shows a Different method of the isekai trope (being reincarnated!!!) which is fun i think!! plus like. putting "re:" in fic titles is EXTREMELY extremely common in this fandom which i suppose makes sense given. the source material is called rezero. granted most of the time (this is just my opinion btw and i mean no harm by it HAH), to me a lot of fics with "re:" in the title dont justify why the "re:" is actually there. "Re:Incarnated" though is an EXTREMELY good use of the "re" imo. i love the pun <3

yeah as for the fic material itself - i do think its interesting to like change small bits of characters. not in the sense that youre changing like the Core of who they are but i Like seeing experimentations with characters to see like small differences. which is why i love aus (such as the literal canon aus we get in the form of the What Ifs and such!!). if that makes sense. that probably makes more sense in my head HAH anyway!! i always feel like changing a characters backstory is SO HARD to pull off without completely changing a character bc it shapes them a lot. but half elf subaru is definitely an idea that can be done in an interesting way imo and im curious to see how re:incarnated handled that. i know ive considered like emisuba roleswaps myself where emilia was isekaied from earth and subarus a half elf which was kind of like re:incarnated but also not like re:incarnated bc subaru had a similar backstory still but now with a fantasy world background (and vice versa for emilia) aljdfdlsjf. but yeah like i like seeing people experiment with these characters and make fun aus!!! and for me personally its hard for me to find ones i like in this fandom + this fandom doesnt do all the usual fic-isms (like there is next to zero soulmate aus for example HAH) so. interesting i suppose!!

as for your own half elf subaru au - im delighted that you were inspired by re:incarnated and are having fun with your own au as well!! :D while i basically know next to nothing about lord of the rings, your idea definitely sounds interesting, though i dont usually read crossovers that arent fusion aus - but i REALLY love the idea of like two different elf species from two different worlds going ??? at each other HAH thats fun stuff!! and i definitely like when despite all the AU things going on, characters like subaru arent too far off from canon in all the big important ways (ie his whole personality) bc for me, its like - theres a reason why we love these characters and i love trying to capture the heart of who they are even with au things, you know? :o but hah yeah ive made my own crossovers though in private (not to post, just for fun pfft) and i hope you keep having fun about your own half elf subaru au bc it sounds very neat <3 ty for sharing anon!! :D

not directly related to the post i just rb’d (for the second time, and which i agree with, just btw) but looking thru the notes reminded me. i’ve been seeing ppl who are either not latine or are not open about being latine, jabbing at the moment near the end of barbie (2023) where sasha tells her father that him saying “sí se puede” to barbie before she goes in to see the gynecologist is cultural appropriation. usually when i see people mentioning this, they make it out to be that she’s telling him that learning spanish is cultural appropriation, and completely remove the context of the scene. being chicane and specifically of mexican heritage, i kinda wanted to mull this over on my own blog, yknow? below is a long-ass post dissecting my take on barbie and its message, and why, ultimately, i think the discourse about it is kind of overblown and most people posting about it, positively OR negatively, are ignoring the real issues with it. it’s mostly about the aforementioned scene but i talk about other stuff too

granted, i didn’t love the fact that they included this dialogue, it seemed gratuitous and like they were just trying to be more inclusive in a film that was very much told through a White Feminist lens, without much intersectional perspective throughout, so that people wouldn’t knock on the film for including minor characters who were disabled, trans, and poc, and a few major supporting characters who were woc, for diversity points, but not meaningfully integrating their experiences into the message of the film, and, noticeably, diversifying the barbies and kens who are not real humans, but only having two human women characters of color, whose roles don’t integrate the fact that they ARE woc in really ANY meaningful ways either. however… sasha was not wrong in saying this. and she wasn’t saying that her father learning spanish is culturally appropriative. the dialogue, if memory serves, goes like this:

father (to barbie): estoy muy orguoso de tí.

gloria (mom): orgulloso.

father: orgulloso. estoy muy orgulloso de tí. (smiling) ¡sí se puede!

gloria: that’s a political statement.

sasha (daughter): yeah, dad, that’s cultural appropriation.

“sí, ¡se puede!” is a political statement. it was coined for use in this context by dolores huerta, co-founder of the United Farm Workers, in 1972. it is usually associated with césar chávez, though, being a more well-known figure and the other founder of UFW. in the US, it is a federally registered trademark of the union, but it has also been adopted by other labor unions and immigration activists. the literal translation is “yes, it can be done!” which refers to using organised protest to accomplish goals in the realms of workers’ rights, and human rights more generally, especially in contexts where the majority of victimised people are latine. in short, taking this phrase and saying it in a completely different context, as a white person, to another white person, IS appropriative. sasha had every right to say this, and, really, her mother commenting “that’s a political statement,” was just a less aggressive way of saying the same thing, and she was right, too.

basically? i think that people are taking issue with the wrong thing here. this scene wasn’t really funny, at least not to me as a mixed mexican myself, therefore someone who would be the target audience for this joke. but it was kind of truthful. and ultimately, what bothered me the most about barbie was that, despite the fact that, yes, they have a disabled barbie in the center for a bit during the dance number, yes, they had a trans actress play one of the barbies with multiple lines, yes, they cast multiple poc in the film and gave multiple of them several speaking lines, and noticeably weren’t too shy on hiring poc for extras… the story didn’t really… care about them. if you took all those actors, and replaced them with abled, white, cishet actors instead… the story would barely change. the only thing that would probably change is that they would’ve shown the dad doing something else to occupy his time other than learning spanish on duolingo, and they’d have replaced this awkward dialogue with something else. everything else could’ve and would’ve stayed exactly the same.

while i like that the message of this movie was not… like, incompatible with intersectional feminism, it also wasn’t really that groundbreaking feminist film that a lot of people are making it out to be, to be totally honest. it’s a good slightly-deeper-than-surface-level deconstruction of the patriarchy and how it hurts men AND women, although it hurts women more profoundly more often, but there wasn’t much there to specifically point out and sympathise with the struggles of marginalised people who aren’t women, and women who are marginalised in ways that aren’t solely related to the fact that they’re women. it’s a fun movie with a core message worth taking to heart, but it’s also served up with a pretty overtly pro-capitalism, and pro-consumerism message on the side, and it’s neutral, at best, towards the people who are hurt by capitalism/consumerism. i enjoyed it, but i’m really sick of seeing people argue about whether it’s a groundbreaking egalitarian intersectional feminist film or not. there wasn’t as much substance to it, in that realm, as i was expecting—granted, i also went in having seen someone say it was rated R, but it was only rated PG-13, so i was sitting there like, “…where’s the rated R content? where’s the deconstruction of women’s sexuality? why doesn’t barbie react to Barbie Girl by Aqua?!?!” lmfao. i wouldn’t say you shouldn’t see it, but i also wouldn’t drag you to see it if you’re not interested. and i DEFINITELY wouldn’t say it was all that deep. it was just fun, and i don’t think you should go into the theatre to see a fun, playful movie that isn’t that deep, when you’re expecting a deep, intersectional deconstruction of masculinity and femininity and the patriarchy.

i would say, though, that if you’re indigenous, just know that our perspectives weren’t considered deeply by the writers. there is that line, mentioned in the post i referred to at the very beginning of this long-ass post, which could be offensive, where the dolls are directly compared to the plight faced by indigenous people when smallpox was brought over from europe, so be aware of that. and if you’re latine, don’t expect the film to portray the two latina leads as… well, latina, beyond just dealing with the white dad not being very good at speaking spanish. if you’re trans, don’t go expecting them to talk about our struggles and not present a cisgender take on feminism. if you’re disabled, know that there isn’t a lot of representation, and iirc the one barbie who is a wheelchair user doesn’t have any lines, although i may be wrong. if she does she probably has one, or two lines, otherwise i think i’d remember her talking. in all cases, don’t go see it if that would be upsetting for you. but if you’re okay with that, it’s an enjoyable movie.

Why I think the Brick Marius is selfish little shit

I really hate the Brick Marius. I've just finished reading and I'm pretty pissed with him. I mean, Thenardiers are bad, yes, but at least Hugo doesn't try to say otherwise or justify them, but Marius... He's supposed to be a good guy,  but in fact he's selfish, weak, lives in some egoistic romantic fantasy and Hugo tells me not to be mad at him for being so because he's young and in love. Yeah, sure, you can be young and in love, but if you don't give a damn about people who are kind to you or condemn someone without a second thought and you have no good reason for it then you are a shitty person.

Let me explain.

He is a witness to a crime and is supposed to shoot pistols to alarm the police, but he sees that the main criminal is allegedly the one who saved his father once upon a time and he doesn't shoot cause, yeah, it's fine to assault people if you saved one person in the past. Like... you see a gang threatening an old kind guy and what do you do? Sure, let them, you know, crime on.

He's living with a friend and borrows money from him nearly every day and not once he feels it's not okay to do it all the time. [BTW, he gives all borrowed money to Thenardier of whom he knows is a criminal, but he saved his father so...] Especially because he, Marius, can easily obtain money from his grandfather, but since he's pissed with him he prefers to borrow from a guy who is probably in much more shitty financial situation. And it's not like he really plans to give the money back. All his brain is filled with Cosette so... Yeah. But that's nothing. Marius had every right to be pissed with his grandfather so maybe obtaining money was off the table in a way.

Let's go on. Marius does not care much for the students who basically tried to adopt him, gave him place to sleep and one guy saved him from being fired from the uni and got fired instead of him. Nope, he doesn't actually think about it too much.

Then there's Eponine who does everything she can to help Marius and even finds the girl he has a crush on for him and what does he do to thank her? He ignores her. Doesn't even bother to offer her a kind word from time to time cause now he has Cosette and Eponine is in the way. Thanks and bye.

When Cosette says she is leaving with her father and they won't see each other again his first instinct is... to be angry with her. HOW DARE YOU LEAVE ME?

Then, after the barricade, his grandfather, an old fool, who loves his grandson so dearly does everything he can to make amends, he's so happy he has Marius back and Marius is, of course, cold and still offended and it actually hurts to read the old man trying so hard and Marius not even noticing he's trying his best cause all that matters is Cosette, of course.

And there's the worst of crimes. Valjean tells him his story and cries and is visibly honest and all he asks shyly is to be able to visit Cosette in the evenings. Marius allows it and regrets it almost immediately. Valjean meets with Cosette in cold, stinky basement. Marius has no courage to ask where his money come from and regrets he let him meet Cosette so he does everything he can to push him away. He stops lighting the fire in the basement, takes all the chairs away so he can't even sit, takes Cosette away so she forgets to meet Valjean. And Valjean gets it and leaves them. And the old man is alone at his home. He weeps all nights looking at Cosette's stuff from childhood, doesn't eat, everyday he walks all the way to her new home, but stops when he's close to the right street and goes back crying and it's all because Marius did not dare to ask him a few questions more and for some reason thought that Valjean deserves such treatment for what... stealing a loaf of bread and some petty other crime years ago? Marius doesn't even try to ask him. He goes to some lawyer and gets all the false info about Valjean. He's weak, he is afraid to ask where the money comes from and he pushes Valjean away like a coward though he granted him meetings with Cosette before. Not talking to him, not saying a word, too afraid what he may learn from him. As if Valjean did not push himself away enough insisting on Cosette calling him 'Mr Jean' instead of 'father' and calling her 'Mrs Pontmercy' and being out of their life.

Also, it is worth mentioning that Marius at the very end gives Thenardier a huge amount of money to get rid of him and the effect of this investment is Thenardier becoming a slave trader in America. Like, he knew the guy and knew there won't be any magical transfirmation and yet...

I mean, it's not like Marius is some kind of a villain, no, but he does all these little shitty stuff because he's blind, he's in love, he's selfish and weak. He's not the cutie you know from the musical. Like, he's not much likable there either, but in the Brick he's just so much worse. Not just a fool in love, but shallow fool in love. And I can't stand him. I get that Cosette can be shallow, but we don't get her that much and she's a girl who lived all her life in a cage like a bird so she's naturally a little bit naive and shallow, but Marius? He got to know the poverty, real life and such like and he's still like THIS.

All his relations with other people seem to be very much all-about-him, what he feels or needs; students are there as long as he needs them, Valjean is great father-figure as long as he sees him as respectable, he visits Mr Mabeuf cause he knew his father and stops when Marius' father-hyperfixation changes into Cosette-hyperfixation, Eponine is as important as her use for him... Oh, and you think his love for Cosette is oh-so-genuine? Nope. First time he saw her he thought she's quite ugly. A year later or so she got prettier and then he got interested. And so on, and so on. Even his barricade stunt is not for any great ideals, but because he wants to die since Cosette is leaving.

yeah there’s giant fun robots! most of them are normal and fine but like a few of them are very fucked up

so there’s four pov characters and at the start of the story three of them are on the same ship and the fourth is the target they’re chasing? only one of them knows they even HAVE a target and is trying her best to stall because she and the target were roommates in fucked up robot catholic school. the other two are playing crazy 8s and being romantic and also terrified all the time but also doing a lot of theorizing about things because they know SOMETHING is up they just don’t know what’s going on. Bc you know. their commander won’t give them any information. and also avoids them because she hates narrative parallelism

also the one stalling is also having her blood drunk by her giant robot. and maybe being mildly possessed by it? so it’s maybe The most fucked up robot. it’s also a giant dog and a good boy. and an heirloom of a fucked up family. which may explain some stuff but honestly i think nisa’s mom was just a bitch and it didn’t have anything to do with the robot she’s just like that.

and she’s stalling bc she Knows she won’t turn perovskia in she knows she wouldn’t let her get hurt she Knows it’ll change her life forever if she finds her and she’s just not ready to face that. but yknow she has to so it was all just very silly of her but when something will change your life dramatically it’s terrifying even if you know that things currently Suck.

somewhere in here Arkansas’s family is threatened and it’s. upsetting. and i’m not sure what direction to go in with it but it will be important because her family means a Lot to her. she has two very good kind dads and a little sister named Tinsel. basically she has the only functional biological family out of all the characters and they make me :’) I also think they eventually meet Idabel and ADORE her and since she grew up without parents it’s just a very strange and emotional experience and. h. they r Wives. and the Trust family is all very sweet and kind even if Arkansas struggles a lot w gifted kid syndrome like i think her dads did their best even if they fucked up sometimes yknow. idabel goes fucking wild at the arcade like legitimately bloodthirsty and arkansas is just like i love my furious and powerful wife

anyway there’s some (a lot of) homoerotic space fighting (which perovskia usually wins BECAUSE she remembers when she and nisa used to spar and can predict what she’ll do. nisa ALSO remembers this bc. ofc she does. but perovskia had to learn how to adapt after Events bc her physical health changed a lot and she had to learn to be more careful about overexerting herself and also now knows how to swordfight. and moves more fluidly and confidently. so what nisa expects to happen often doesn’t bc perovskia’s fighting style has changed so much while nisa hasn’t really bothered to refine hers. anyway) perovskia (the gay little target that does a gay little crime and makes fun of you to piss you off) is like hey. what if you all committed treason it’s really fun and sexy. and then her adoptive mechanic mom gives everyone spinal surgery so their bodies don’t shut down and they won’t die :) that’s a thing by the way i won’t elaborate bc uhh :( but it is why perovskia has all the. nerve damage and chronic pain. i can elaborate on the actual Pre-story perovskia stuff later bc i think about it A Lot and it has a lot of bearing on her character but it’s also. before all this. but anyway if she hadn’t been bleeding out on Slice’s front lawn specifically she Would be dead. and there’s some fun narrative foil character shifts that happen four years before the main storyline but i will not say bc i’m tired

after this is Vague in my mind but a lot of it is Perovskia and Nisa reconnecting and just. talking. but being weird and repressed and deflective about anything Meaningful. And I have written a Lot about this so there’s more than I can condense but it’s very fucking good and. Idk. it’s a big shift in the narrative at this point and they’re just Agonizing about their dumb little feelings and it’s good. and P doing some work to make their giant fucking spaceship more stealthy. and Idabel and Arkansas being really cute and also going THROUGH it because i mean. a lot is happening. And it’s nothing either of them ever expected to happen but they’re like. hopeful for the future or whatever don’t look at me. It’s just like. put all of these characters on a spaceship in the middle of nowhere in transit and they all Have to have conversations even if they don’t want to because it’s HARD. nisa is forced by slice to learn how to make pancakes

Slice makes stew. They’re good at stew and contraptions and having a mild new england accent somehow. also canonically back in the scrapyard they would make things like the knife wielding tentacle constantly and perovskia would just stumble upon them. slice changed the live laugh love sign to say die cry hate because perovskia made fun of it. they r her mom.

so now they do some fun fun robberies and various crimes and it’s so sexy and i don’t think N and P are like. fully caught up at this point or know where they stand, so there’s a lot of very fun banter and having to work together despite really being afraid but also yearning to get to know each other again and just connect with one another honestly and openly after four fuckin years apart. because they’re both so different now but also very much the same. horse staring out into sea MAN. the thing is there’s no direct like. reason for them to avoid each other (at first P was shocked and overwhelmed and felt a little bit betrayed when she found out who was chasing her until she found out WHY. oh i forgot to mention Nisa BEGGED to be assigned commander for this mission bc she knew anyone else wouldn’t hesitate to get Perovskia killed. Forgot to mention that it’s IMPORTANT she fucking loves her so much god DAMMIT) but it’s just. tense and there’s a lot happening and it’s just. Ghhhdhbnm and ofc I and A have picked up on it since P showed up but it’s like. ok so what is Happening here. oh i know this is a space story but perovskia just straight up has a sword (and some knives and maybe a gun idk) don’t ask me why idk but it’s very lesbian of her and she does gay little flourishes and is just. very annoying and i like her a lot. she’s very dramatic like her alias was madame revenant when she was living in the scrapyard and just doing some petty crimes like. she embroidered that jacket herself nobody calls her that she’s just a goofball. also warrior cats exist and she makes warrior cat fan animations. that just has to be true so warriors has been preserved for centuries. also she was presumed dead for a while uhh don’t think abt it too much but she likes that aesthetic.

Idabel takes the best to this new life of crime they are fucking FOR it she gets a FLAMETHROWER and Arkansas is like. wrow honestly my favorite thing abt them is that they’re both fucking INCREDIBLE pilots. like they know what they’re doing. and nisa is really really bad at it btw she cannot pilot a mech well. but this block of text isn’t about her i’m talking about THEM. Their chemistry is so good they r just. 🥺. and they both become Fast friends with perovskia because she’s just pretty likeable?? and ofc nisa’s jealous bc a) you guys don’t even like me :( but also b) that’s MY friend. it’s very funny. honey of course they didn’t like you you were being very unpleasant to be around. but arkansas does rlly wanna be friends with her and she and idabel have so much sibling energy it’s insane. i think they’d abel and cain each other for a scooby snack but also kill for each other. because they’re tiny girls who will growl at you solidarity and also probably hang out and just destroy things with bats sometimes. they all become closer and get a rlly sweet found family dynamic it just takes a While. oh also idabel is basically the chosen one and can set things on fire with her hands but it’s barely touched on because i think that’s a really funny thing to just ignore. but i also think it does become important because it’s largely fueled by anger and emotion and. h. i think idabel has a lot of feelings ok. Arkansas and Perovskia bond over having fucking anxiety disorders and have caprisun drinking competitions. i think it’s just like. these people all have similar trauma and need people to lean on when things are hard so they stick with each other once they have the option to split apart because by then they’re friends and work well together and Care. auto tuned baby crying mp3.

Alia and Agent Variety show up somewhere around here? They’re Slice’s very cool wives and Alia has a Vechicle Collection and own fucking stupid race cars and stuff and I love her. perovskia is afraid of being in vechiles so she has to take a fucking benadryl every time they have to make a getaway. Variety isn’t actually an Agent anymore and I also love HER because she’s very fucking good. they started out as just contacts slice had but it turns out they’re all in love <3 alia is also actually a sports car racer like. unprofessionally. illegally. which is just very cool of them.

Also i don’t think it has. a very BIG end, yknow? it’s like, they’re doing very good things and are up against a lot, and I don’t think they like.. singlehandedly take down the government or anything because they’re only a few people. but i think they get a happy ending and get to grow old while making positive changes to the world around them. like i don’t think they’ll be able to solve everything but they’re sure as hell gonna do what they can. But idk maybe they actually do get like. some good shit done. but again they’re not. an army. they’re a bunch of 20-somethings and their rube-goldberg-machine-creating chaperone. but i think they should get a fun climactic moment so i guess this is all to say i don’t. have an ending planned. but there should probably be one at some point.

OH AND the giant evil blood sucking dog vineyard vines robot Definitely almost kills Nisa (or at least fully destroys her in some way) and. it’s very narrowly avoided and she’s very very weak for a while because it took a lot out of her. also the dog robot does make grape vines grow and uhhhh any grapes that show up are 100% full of the pilot’s siphoned blood. also i think there’s still some remnants of that bitch in nisa’s mind afterwards bc an old mechanical god is hard to get rid of. but it’s mostly ok.

Also the bug people are just. a thing. like every person in the most recent generation in this specific society are at least a little bit genetically experimented on because. it sucks there. and i think if your parents bribe the government you can be a little Less fucked up but yknow. everyone’s a little weird. this was an excuse to put bug ppl in here they’re just the folks who were probably the most fucked with and i have many bug people here because i think bugs are cool and i want them to look like weird little bugs. This was all also an excuse to give the main characters fangs bc i’m gay. i don’t think randomly fucking with your genetics will make you a bug in real life so do not try this at home or at all PSA

SPEAKING of the society ok it’s very much obsessed with earth nostalgia and stuff and very yknow. basic cyperpunk shitty capitalism you know the drill you’ve seen space operas whatever but it’s also weirdly oligarchical? and like? it’s weird and bad and kind of a corporatocracy?? and. fuck. idk man they’re a fucked up space catgirl greeble-y amazon with catholic imagery. The Academy is also a thing but. idk how to describe it more than i already have it’s just kinda shitty boarding school. And after a certain point ppl can get sent on like. missions and stuff? in their fucking robots? but again i’m not sure what For. an option could be that there’s nearby Shit and nobody can tell if it’s safe because space is weird? also it’s only about 3200 so i’d say like. whole societies out in space is a relatively new thing and there’s some weird shit going on. so they sometimes send teenagers out in robots to see what’s up and that ends SUPER well for EVERYONE. hmm something SHOULD be going on actually there should be some weird eldritch space stuff. it should be connected to the more fucked up robots. it should also be Core’s fault somehow because uhhh capitalism and lack of foresight? anyway here’s women kissing i don’t know things. (personal rambling below about my transition btw, scroll if you’re uncomfortable with discussions about dysphoria, etc.)

i made a thread about this on twitter but i wanted to post something here too because i have mostly trans followers on this account whereas my priv twitter is mostly my close friends and they’re mostly cis, and i wanted to see if maybe someone was in the same place as me concerning building a family as a trans guy.

i was thinking tonight about my transition and where i am dysphoria-wise and i really don’t feel like it’s an issue for me anymore. there’s been very, very few times in the last year since i had top surgery where i felt dysphoric, and they were mostly immediately post-op when i still had to wear the surgical vest because it reminded me so much of a binder. like i was SO afraid that my chest dysphoria would turn into bottom dysphoria after surgery and it hasn’t! which is great! it wasn’t as strong as my chest dysphoria was to begin with, but also, when i started t, all the dysphoria i had about my voice and face and shape all seemingly transferred to my chest dysphoria and made it 10x worse. i think i’m at a point where the only time i’m really bothered by what i have is when i’m in a public restroom and i have to use the stall to pee, but that could be solved if i got an stp (don’t know if that would make it worse though since it emphasizes what i don’t have but that’s for another day). i don’t say this to brag or anything, i’m just giving context as to why my thoughts on having a family have changed over the last few years.

i was thinking about how much i wanted to have a family when i’m older and how i’ve envisioned myself doing that over the years. like when i was little, i never saw myself as anything like my mother if i was going to be a parent, just that i wanted children. at the beginning of my transition, especially pre t and pre top surgery, that kinda shifted into ‘i obviously will never have children biologically so i need to think about adoption or surrogacy or a sperm donor if i end up marrying someone comfortable with carrying a child’ and like that was all well and good, all families are family regardless of blood, but it also felt really limiting for me, especially given how expensive all of those processes are. my family is not well-off (i currently live with my parents and grandparents in one house) and the only money i will ever inherit comes from (the other) grandparents, but i was always planning on using that for a house or kids college funds or paying off student debt. it always really depressed me to think of how much time would be spent and debt i’d have to go in to even conceive a child. idk, it just made me upset that some people have it so easy having kids and i just felt like that door was closed for me.

the reason i’m writing this is that since having top surgery and being on t for close to 2.5 years, i’ve been able to think about my future in a more nuanced way than before. pre t and pre top surgery, the thought of carrying a child make me genuinely suicidal. like i would rather have jumped off a giant bridge than even put myself in that hypothetical situation because it made me so dysphoric. when i was a hardcore, hardline transmed, i used to be so confused and upset by trans guys who chose to carry children. i would be so baffled by their decision, because it felt like, in my dysphoria-clouded view, that it would be so invalidating to that person that they couldn’t possibly be actually trans if they chose to put themselves through that. like, i couldn’t comprehend a world in which someone would actively seek out pregnancy as a guy. i guess it’s a testament to the wonders of transitioning in regards to treating dysphoria because i can genuinely picture myself taking that route now.

i mean obviously, this is a still a hyper-hypothetical situation. i am not even close to having kids. not even slightly. i am afraid of the washing machine and i ask my dad to kill any spiders in my room. i was watching this docuseries on netflix about this hospital in new york and they were showing these couples having their children in the ob/gyn ward and i was so struck by how i wasn’t just repelled by that anymore. it makes me think that, in the future, if i end up with a man or someone else that can produce sperm, or if i end up with a woman who doesn’t want to carry children, i really wouldn’t feel like carrying my own kid is totally off the table. i know that this is something that would make me freak out if i heard this as the past version of me, and i’d likely question my own manliness for even considering it, but i really think i could do it. i mean, obviously, i don’t doubt that i’d be really dysphoric during and i have no idea how i’d begin to explain it to any coworkers i might have, but idk. i really, really want children in the future and to be a fucking awesome dad and i think that if it means carrying my kids, i could probably do it. i like how people call them ‘seahorse dads’ too.

it feels like such a foreign idea to me right now because i was always planning on getting a hysterectomy and bottom surgery, but i don’t feel that sense of urgency like i did with top surgery. after i started t, it was like ‘how fast can i get top surgery now’ so i always thought it would be that way with a hysto after i got top surgery, but it really hasn’t. i’m really, really hesitant to get a hysto now that i don’t feel so disgusted by the idea of carrying kids. i’m glad i don’t have that same weight of dysphoria, obviously, but this just also opens up more concerns for me in the future. idk. i’m tired. i had an epiphany earlier and i felt like i needed to share it somewhere and maybe talk about it with another trans guy who might feel the same way.

Pinky Promise AU

Summary: Kotoha Lives AU! This is called the Pinky Promise AU. In a oneshot I wrote called “Pinky Promise,” Kotoha managed to escape Douma’s cult and live in a Wisteria House with an older woman named Himari. Shinjuro and a group of demon slayers stay one night a month later and Kotoha is given a final push to become a demon slayer and, eventually, a Pillar. You can just refer to this summary or feel free to look up “pinky promise au” tag on my blog(Lowkey scared to link it as ya’know posts with links tend to not show up in tags) 

Also if you are not fully caught up on the manga DO NOT PRESS ON unless you don’t mind spoilers!!

-Kotoha spends five years training in an undetermined breath at first, however, she finds it hard and wants something to fit her own feelings, so she makes her own breath style; Bell Breathing

-Inspired by the one-hundred and eight rings of the nearby Buddist bell on New Years Eve, she decides to make the style. She wants to inspire people like bells do, with a balanced form set and sweet, comforting sounds 

-Kotoha took to the bell motif seriously, even making a bracelet of small suzu bells and wearing it around her dominant wrist. The balls inside that make the bells ring are removable, making stealth missions easier

-Kotoha’s Nichirin Blade is colored a sort of pastel shade of yellow, and has aesthetic-only empty bell shells tied with a red ribbon on the end of the hilt. The guard is bell-shaped, naturally. 

-Her blade forager was in fact Haganezuka, being one of the few people who stuck around even with his more rather… extreme personality. She’s one of his first clients, and they have a fairly close friendship-- she always has mitarashi dango for him when he visits or when she visits. She hasn’t broken her blade thus far

-Her uniform is the usual one but with a under-the-knee-length skirt like Kanao’s. She wears yellow tabi with zori underneath. She has a dark blue haori with yellow/white suzu bell designs all over it. She also wears her hair in a tight bun with a comb kinzashi with purple flowers and blue ribbon--she considers it a good luck charm. She also wears a bird masquerade mask and a cloth to wrap her hair in to cover her identity when on slaying missions, because,

-Kotoha is mainly into undercover and stealth missions due to her flexibility and natural beauty, making her fit in just about anywhere. She wears a kimono and more plain haori when out on such missions. No one suspects such a beautiful and gentle woman! 

-Inosuke loves the sound of bells while growing up ‘cause they remind him heavily of his mother. He starts collecting various bells at the age of seven, keeping them in his room in the Hashibira Estate. Tanjiro finds this sweet while Zenitsu laughs at him for being so rough yet has such a soft hobby. Inosuke might’ve whacked him a couple times because of this

-Kotoha is a mother first, demon slayer second. Never changes, even after she becomes a Pillar

-Speaking of which, it only takes her up to a year to become a Pillar. She kept on insisting to take jobs, so her demon count rose very quickly. She also mastered Total Concentration within weeks with Himari and her mentor’s help

-Her and Inosuke have a very very close familial bond. They tell each other almost everything with no hesitance and do many things together. They might have one argument every few months, but it’s usually over something silly and it’s resolved quickly

-Hell, Kotoha even offered to teach him Bell Breathing but he refused, having already started to develop his own technique (which would be obviously Beast Breathing)

-Kotoha is without a doubt one of if not the first Pillar to trust Nezuko. She trusts her son unwaveringly with every vein in her body, and if he trusts her, then she does too

-Because of her Pillar status, her Estate is close to the Butterfly Estate and she has a close relationship with the Kocho sisters. She cares a lot for them, and mothered them a lot, seeing them also as daughters she never had

-She also has a close relationship with the Rengoku family, Shinjuro being an older brother to her and Ruka like a sister, and Kyojuro and Senjuro being nephews. Though they also saw her a second mother on occasion. Shinjuro helps Kotoha get used to being a Pillar and gave her advice before his wife’s death and subsequent alcoholism. Their relationship becomes strained after this, for obvious reasons

-On a lighter note, this means Inosuke is much closer to Kyojuro and Senjuro, having grown up with them, he sees them as brothers--making Kyojuro’s death a little more harder :)

-Speaking upon Inosuke, Inosuke has his original personality and abilities intact, but with more… class?

-He still likes to be competitive and has a stupidly high temper, but he’s also not constantly headbutting people and has slight more consideration of others. Also doesn’t have his boar head, and wears the normal demon slaying uniform (though has a habit of discarding the upper layer, and usually doesn’t wear a haori unless it’s winter). Still dumb as rocks though

-He also still prefers his swords chipped, but his original swords being chipped was from training too much with normal swords and found that when they’re chipped they cut better to him (plus lets be real he likes how they look) When he deliberately chips his new ones Kotoha does scold him for it for disrespecting his sword and sword maker, though admittedly found it just a tiny bit amusing

-He also adored animals as a child, finding boars especially to be really cool and studied their movements a lot along with other animals, which influenced him in many, many ways

-Inosuke can’t help but perhaps sometimes feel a little inferior compared to his mother. Don’t get me wrong, he loves her with every goddamn breath and won’t hesitate to tell her, but sometimes he feels he can’t match her skill. Kotoha tries to treat him equally but sometimes her constant mothering and protectiveness can be grating

-Kotoha holds a heavy grudge against Douma for basically fucking with her, and it only grows deeper after Kanae’s death. She’s in on Shinobu’s poisoning plan, and while she’s against it she knows she can’t stop Shinobu. Makes Shinobu’s death hard on Kotoha because she knows she should’ve been more assertive, but also knows it was what Shinobu wanted

-Inosuke still has a tight platonic bond with Shinobu, though he sees her more of a sister than a mother for obvious reasons. He also has a soft spot for Kanao, and while she’s older than him he still treats her like a little sister anyway. He was probably the first person she met around her age after being adopted into the Kocho family. Inosuke wasn’t too close to Kanae, but was also saddened and angry after her passing by a demon’s hands

-Inosuke is also on pretty decent terms with the little sister trio (they like to play with his hair, he lets them while he eats usually), though has a sort of tough relationship with Aoi since they both tend to clash heads. A bit of a crumb for you AoIno(?) shippers, but the two are on decently friendly terms, finding each other tolerable enough, they’re just both stubborn

-Kotoha also never tells Inosuke, at least not at first, why they lived in a Wisteria House and why Himari wasn’t his real grandma despite thinking she was. She fears it might bring him trauma or nightmares, big plus she doesn’t want him going after Douma

-It was a slight bit of a hassle for Inosuke to make his mother agree to making him a demon slayer too; she was obviously worried for his safety, but eventually wore down, but made him promise he try to be as careful as possible. This is obviously not followed through for many reasons, but we already know them so I won’t go into too much detail

-Treats pretty much almost everyone younger than her like her children in some way, shape, or form. She’s a heavy mother figure to everyone and wears this with pride (even if she sometimes doesn’t realize it)

-In fact, Zenitsu, Kyojuro, and Mitsuri are big offenders on accidentally calling her mom. It’s less accidental for Kyojuro as he knows he sees her as a mother and has been doing it ever since they met (‘cause children do that, it’s just grown to be a habit at this point, and plus Ruka never minded so it doesn’t bother him) though he’s more likely to call her “Aunt Koto” around others by now

-She’s close to Mitsuri and they sometimes swap feminine advice and cook together, and Mitsuri isn’t as embarrassed by calling her mom now than she was the first time she did. They have a tight bond and Kotoha sees her as the daughter she never had, exchanging secrets as well

-Zenitsu has an unclear past, so I hc that his parents were probably neglectful or died by the time of his debt. So, Kotoha becomes the mother figure he hasn’t had/never had in a long time. He def didn’t realize it at first and became heavily flustered and mortified. Kotoha found it adorable. Inosuke isn’t a big fan of this btw aksjasj but he tolerates it a little more as time goes on

-Zenitsu has had such a big helping of respect women juice because of Kotoha that he is less flirtatious and weird about girls, though his love for Nezuko doesn’t waver in the slightest 

-Tanjiro also sees her as a mother, heavily reminding him of his own mother in fact. He respects her a lot, and even has platonic affection for her, especially after she so quickly accepts Nezuko despite her hate against demons

-She smells like freshly baked bread and flowers, and has a calming presence. She has a sweet sound to her, like suzu bells, as Zenitsu puts it

-Also she teaches Tanjiro how to properly take care of Nezuko’s hair and the like so Nezuko’s hair isn’t always a rat’s nest when they come back to the Estates

-Nezuko, speaking of, like Tamayo sees Kotoha as her own mother. Thus, Nezuko always feels calm around her and lets her wash her clothes and brush her hair

-Sanemi and Genya have subconscious drawings towards her, as the pattern keeps going, they see a lot of their own mom in her. While neither of them have called her mom ‘cause it’s painful to even think about, there’s no doubt they’ve had fleeting thoughts about her being a mom to them

-Muichiro also subconsciously sees her as a mother, with his memories gone he has no qualms about it but he doesn’t let it slip out loud. Likes it when she brushes his hair though. After his memories begin to return he doesn’t regret thinking of her as a mother

-Giyuu doesn’t have many maternal feelings, finding her protective nature to be a bit overwhelming, however he doesn’t hate her. In fact, Kotoha doesn’t hate him at all and loves him a lot. I think maybe he might see his sister in her a little actually

-Uzui has zero maternal feelings towards her as well, in fact he probably flirted with her a little. Nothing huge or meaningful, just harmless, it’s who he is. She never really realized it anyway, seeing him as just being nice, and cared enough but not enough to see him as a son. Saw her techniques as flamboyant, of course, and she was saddened by his departure from the Pillars

-Obanai feels a little… indifferent? Towards her? Like, he doesn’t hate her, but I don’t think he’d quite see her as a mother figure either. He does admire her drive though, and she cares about him enough to make them good partners in combat if need be

-Gyomei doesn’t have maternal feelings towards her either, since they’re extremely close in age, same for Kotoha. But he still does also admire her, tbh I can see them being more like just good friends and confidants. Being the two oldest Pillars they have much in common

-Kotoha and Ubuyashiki have a typical follower/leader relationship, considering he’s much younger than her she doesn’t see him as a father figure, but she does admire him a lot and is extremely loyal to him. She also finds his kids to be adorable and is friendly with his wife (Edit: I realize Kotoha most likely met him when he was 13-14, so yeah, def doesn’t see him as a father figure or anything. Probably thought he was adorable too aksjaksj)

-You want to face off both mother and son? Don’t.

-Seriously, don’t. 

-You’ll regret it.

-See, they’re both ferociously protective of each other, and bounce off each other so well it’s fuckin bonkers! They go hand-in-hand, easily matching their breaths and everything. They’re like a machine together in battle. When they’re on their own they do well but when they’re together they do exceptionally. It’s both amazing and downright terrifying

-Need advice? Need a shoulder to cry on? Kotoha has your back

-Also, at least once a month all Pillars and any visiting demon slayers are invited to a feast at Kotoha’s, cooked by the woman herself and occasionally with the help of Mitsuri and Shinobu. The Ubuyashiki’s are always invited, but they never really make it. It’s still one night without any worry, just bonding time and fun, and that’s what matters

-Mother and son constantly write each other letters when apart, no matter how many miles are in between them, and give them to their crow to deliver. If one party doesn’t reply after the given time, the other is instantly going to look for them no matter what

-Also, I hc that Inosuke has ADHD and social anxiety. Kotoha is very patient with him and helps him through the daily struggles they bring, and he’s so grateful for this. 

-While I don’t have any ships in mind for this au (except perhaps KanTan and ZenNezu, maybe AoIno if you squint), if anyone wants to take this au and mold it to their own ship (within reason--if I find you use this au to ship pedo/incest I will find you) I give you full permission. However, if you find yourself shipping Kotoha with anyone, I would like to note that she has a few walls put up due to the abuse she suffered, and it isn’t too easy for her to fall in love

Bell Breathing and it’s Techniques/Forms

-Bell Breathing involves a lot of speed, along with agility and grace. Kotoha became more flexible and obviously more quicker, along with some muscle. It involves many parries, quick strikes and counters.

-Kotoha developed this with her newly gained strength and her natural swiftness in mind, along with her warm personality

-There are currently six forms, three mainly defense and three offense. 

-First Form: Voided Ringing- The user steps out of range of an attack before replacing it with their sword, slashing in an upwards motion at whatever the enemy was about to attack with

-Second Form: Suzu Dance- The user advances on their opponent slashing their blade in swift, shallow motions, aiming mainly for the arms 

-Third Form: Crotal Advance- The user blocks their entire body with their blade, using all their strength, and then they twist the blade to slash whatever is attacking them

-Fourth Form: Chiming Deflection- The user deflects attacks in a circular motion with quick succession

-Fifth Form: Quiet Ringing in Winter- Much like Blessed Rain after the Drought, this move is used when an enemy surrenders, making it a swift and painless death, making a soft sound like jingle bells during Christmas--or, rather, like suzu bells during a Kagura dance

-Sixth Form: The Death Bell Tolls- The user goes as fast as possible, quite like they’re dancing around their opponent and then strike from the air, going straight for the neck in one swift round motion, making a sound like the ringing of a bell 

Extra: I made Bell Breathing without one breath in mind as I researched different sword techniques and looked at all the breathing styles, and while I’ve been leaning towards Wind, Thunder/Sound or Water, but if anyone has an idea I’m open to hearing it

Your Saturday nights would usually consist of you either reading a book, or listening to some records, and most often sleeping until the next morning. It never felt lonely to you, it was nice having some time to relax and have time to yourself for a while.

It wasn’t much different for this night. You stayed in your room, which you had to yourself, and read a series of books that you probably wouldn’t finish till the early morning. It was already past midnight, your window proved it by showing the vast void of darkness beyond it.

It was right now in the middle of winter, early December and it was already snowing outside. And while your window tried to keep you warm, the coldness still managed to peer its way into your room. The number of blankets increased with each hour, but sadly, none seemed to help you with your problem.

“Damn this cold...” You muttered to yourself, shivering.

 Much like the other children that was mysteriously born on the same day as you, you had powers. You could control electricity and move between the currents of wires. It was a special ability, but your power could do nothing to give you heat, making it utterly useless at the moment besides helping you turn off the light on and off.

Your blankets wrapped around you almost completely, making you look like you some type of burrito or caterpillar. Growing frustrated, you held yourself in your blankets and buried your nose in your book.

It wasn’t just the cold that bothered you, your thoughts pestered you as well. You were stuck on a certain page in the book and having to reread it over and over again. Your thoughts wouldn’t leave you alone, bothering you to an extent that you almost went insane.

What were your thoughts about? Your best friend and practically brother, Number Five, just Five to be short. Why were you thinking about him? Because you may have the largest tiniest crush on him.

You’ve known Five for years, growing up together at the Umbrella Academy since your ‘father’ adopted you both. The two of you were inseparable, always running around the hallways if you weren’t training your powers. If you were both in a room together alone, it would be chaotic.

It started out as a strange feeling. One day when you were about eight years old, you both were playing tag in the hallways (Five obviously winning since he can move through time and space), when you fell down trying to chase him.

When you fell to the floor, you ended up scraping your right knee onto the carpet. It stung and you remember you started to tear up a bit before Five came to help you.

“(Y/n)!”

Your eight year old self sat on the floor, hugging your right knee as you started to cry. It wasn’t as bad as wounds you’ve gotten before, but the scrape stung and started to bleed a little bit. Five saw tears were forming in your eyes so he stood up.

“Wait here.” Then he flashed out of the hallway, leaving you alone.

You trusted Five with your life, so all you did was sit there and wait. A few minutes go by, and Five reappeared back in front of you carrying a bandaid. He got onto his knees and opened the bandaid to put onto your wound. Five finished putting it on and looked up at you.

“There! Good as new! Or...before.”

He flashed his charming smile, showing off his beautiful dimples. Wiping the small tears from your eyes, you couldn’t help but smile back at him.

That was the day you figured out you liked him.

You lightly smiled at the memory. It was a nice thing for him to do, considering Five never really had some physical contact with anyone besides you. At least from what you know.

Growing up with Five over the years caused you to realize sometimes. Five didn’t like talking about his feelings. He wanted to show no weakness in him and prove himself to your father. Five didn’t like physically touching people, although, he usually made an exception for you if you needed need it. And in some cases, Five would need a hug from you as well.

Five several times told you that he was ready to travel through time, but you never really saw it as a good idea. But his determination usually got the best of him.

“Come on (Y/n), don’t you trust me?!”

Five threw his arms in the air, flabbergasted that you weren’t supporting him.

“I trust you with my life, Five. But I just don’t want anything to go wrong. What if you see something you aren’t supposed to see? Or what if you get stuck?” Your face remained a calm but worried expression.

“I won’t get stuck, I promise. I am going to prove myself to you and dad that I can do this!”

That was the day you realized you fell in love with him.

His dedication of wanting to prove himself to everyone was almost inspiring to you. You loved how he was cocky, but still careful at the same time. You cared so much for the boy, it was almost so hard to not fall for him.

Shaking your head away from the memory, you tried to focus yourself back into your reading. But once again, the cold started to poke at you.

You shivered in your blankets and rubbed your hands together for an electric spark to try to get the slightest chance of warmth from it. Unfortunately, there was nothing. Sighing in defeat, you leaned back in your bed and closed your eyes for a moment.

“Can’t get warm?” A voice said from the door.

You jumped up in surprise at the voice, jumping out of bed with resulted you in dropping your book, stretching your hands out to the stranger and ready to attack. Even though you didn’t look that much of a threat, considering you were still wearing your natural white pajamas with the ‘Umbrella Academy’ symbol on it.

But the person with the voice ended up being Five, who was leaning up against your room’s doorway. You left out a big breath of relief, calming yourself.

“Jesus Christ, Five. You scared me half to death!” You yelled at him, causing the boy to smirk a bit.

“Sorry, didn’t mean to.” You raised an eyebrow of doubt at him so he put his hands up in a form to show surrender.

“Not my fault that you’re so easy to scare.” Five laughed a bit.

Although you were a bit annoyed with him, you mirrored a smile back.

He stepped into your room so you could see a full view of him. He was still wearing his uniform, which made him look super good in. Five had his hands in his shorts pockets (you still questioned why he wore shorts in the middle of winter) and his demeanor expressed a cocky and risky attitude. The same cocky attitude you fell in love with in the first place. 

You swore you almost drooled at the handsome sight of him. You finally brought yourself back to reality and looked at the boy you loved with a confused face.

“Why are you still up and walking around? You could get in trouble.” You questioned.

You picked up your book that you dropped on the floor and went back to your spot on your bed. Setting it aside, you looked to him.

Five sighed and sat next to you on the bed, switching glances from you and his hands. It was odd to see him like this, it was as if he was almost nervous about something. But what was he nervous about?

“I...honestly have no idea.” The dark haired boy confessed.

You furrowed your eyebrows at his words.

“You don’t know why you came into my room?” Five nodded.

“I couldn’t sleep. So I started to walk around when I found myself at your door. It was as if my feet just dragged me here.” Suddenly, the space/time traveler looked to you.

“What about you? How come you’re still up?” He asked. You grabbed the book from your side and held it out to him.

“I was reading. I do this every Saturday night. Well, technically every night that I get a break.” You showed him the cover of the book, and he looked at it in fascination.

“Is it good?” Five wondered.

‘Why was he asking these things? He’s usually not that interested in anything I show him.’ You pondered in your head.

“W-Well yeah...” You trailed off, not knowing what else to say. You tucked away a loose hair that fell into your face behind your ear.

“What’s it about?”

Resisitng every sudden urge to tell him everything about what you thought of the book, you put the book back aside and stared at him. The loose strand of hair fell again and you blew it back, even though it did nothing.

“Why are you asking me these questions?” You questioned your best friend.

Suddenly, the boy sitting in front of you looked as if he some child who had just gotten caught trying to steal some cookies. Five quickly gained back his confident demeanor and looked at you with a fake sad expression.

“What? I can’t be interested in the books you read? I’m quite offended you don’t think I’m not into books!” Five dramatically put a hand on his chest, to which you rolled your eyes at.

You crossed your arms, looked at him with a skeptical face and leaned back in your pillow.

“No. You’re never into any of the books I show you and read. Let alone ask questions about them.”

You leaned forward towards him and Five slowly leaned backwards away from you, looking shy for a moment.

“Why are you asking me about my books?” You asked until the strand of (h/c) hair fell into your face again, and you resisted groaning out loud in annoyance.

Just when you were about to tuck the loose hair behind your ear again, Five leaned forward back to you and tucked it himself. Your face immediately turned a crimson red and you looked down in embarrassment.

Although you couldn’t see it, there was a slight grin on the dark haired boy’s face. After finishing tucking away the hair, his hands trailed down the side of your head to under your chin.

“You’re very beautiful, you know that?” Five confessed.

Still looking down at your bed, you scoffed.

“Is that the best line you got?” You challenged him.

You instantly shut your mouth after you realized what you said. You could already hear the smirk forming on his face.

“Nope. But I got something even better.”

You were just about to ask what it was when you felt two fingers lift your head up so you could meet Five’s hypnotizing eyes. He closed his eyes and quickly leaned in, closing the small space between you two. Five’s lips met yours and you were still trying to comprehend the situation.

Never the less, you closed your eyes and pulled him closer to you, wrapping your hands around his neck, and Five grabbing your cheeks. The feeling of his soft lips against yours felt like heaven, if you weren’t already in it.

The lovingly kiss was short lived, but it was the best moment of your life. When you both pulled away, you wanted to whine at the loss of his lips. Five leaned his forehead against yours, his hands holding your face and smiled widely. Your head was a bit fuzzy from the moment you shared with your best friend. You still kept your hands wrapped around his neck.

“Was that better?” You giggled at his question.

“Definitely.” 

Suddenly, the familiar rush of freezing cold air flew through you, making you shiver in the boy’s arms. Five noticed and held you tighter in his arms.

“Wait a second.” Five whispered to you before flashing away.

A minute later, your crush appeared back in your room, wearing his sleep clothing. He climbed back into your bed, pulling the covers over the both of you and held you in his arms in a spooning position with you as the little spoon.

“I hate feelings and I especially hate talking about them. You obviously know that,” Five started as he brushed your hair a bit. “But I think I’ve fallen for you, (Y/n).”

You nuzzled your face into his chest and smiled to yourself.

“I think I’ve fallen in love with you too, Five.” You replied back to him.

You could feel the grin on his face forming. Five kissed the top of your head and you turned off the night in your room with the snap of your fingers. 

Until you fell asleep in your love’s arms, you were unable to keep the grin off your face for the rest of night.

Taking a brief break from watching FFXIV to throw out some HCs for my new WoL!

All three of them.

Because I have no self control.

(forgive whatever massive leaps in lore or logic I make in this I only just started watching Realm Reborn and I will fully go AU if I have to to keep my sib trio. I also apologize for the accidental poaching of any canon character names or created character names, I picked these out of a name gen because they sounded pretty and I don’t know enough of FFXIV to identify canon characters at this point).

Anyway meet the Troublesome Trio, they are siblings. Imply otherwise and you will be hurt. No, it doesn’t matter to them that they are each a different species, they ARE SIBLINGS. XD Anyway they got their start when an Au Ra dad who’d just lost two kiddos stumbled across first a Viera bby and then a Miqo’te bby and took them home to raise with his remaining Au Ra daughter. They’re all probably around the same age, but since they have no way of knowing who the REAL oldest is, they count it by who was adopted first. So the Au Ra bby, being the blood-relation of their dad, is the “oldest”, the Viera is the “middle child” and the Miqo’te is the “youngest”. All three of them have Au Ra style names even though only one of them is a dragon person because they were named by their Au Ra dad.

Names and brief bios!!

-Starting with the Au Ra, she is Temulun Kahkol. She is a Xaela Au Ra. Very sweet natured. Cheerful. Passionate. Something of a secret Shipper at heart. Touch her siblings and Die In Fire :). Black hair, gold eyes that glow red. Medium dark skin. 5′2″ tall. Despite being the dragon from a tribe of warlike dragons, she has arguably the most Chill of the three siblings. Despite supposedly being the eldest and using that status as leverage against her sibs, they very much treat her like the youngest. It’s probably her personality.

-“Sometimes the only way to help yourself is to help others …. And sometimes it’s to punch someone in the face and summon Bahamut on them.” Quote from Temulun.

-Isn’t she a sweet heart? :)

-Someone made the eternal mistake of letting this girl become a Summoner. She is REALLY GOOD AT IT. Will happily use overkill at every opportunity. She is also a Dancer, to good luck trying to catch her.

-Moving on to the Viera, she is Cotota Kakhol. Blunt, practical, aggressive, almost No Chill.

-Look you try being a bunny girl raised in a tribe of dragons and see how much Chill you have left by the time you reach adulthood.

-Wavy black-blue hair, long black ears, red eyes, dark blue-ish black skin. 6′4″, which was not something expected by her adoptive Au Ra family. Few of her “cousins” quite knew what to do with the fact she could look them in the eye or even be taller than a few of them. Tends to act like the Oldest Sibling, probably because of her height advantage.

-Will murder you for a corn chip. But only if one of her siblings wants a corn chip. Otherwise she doesn’t care about you.

-Who let this woman be a White Mage. A White Mage needs more Chill than this. She is also a Monk. Which is ... arguably way more in character for her than White Mage and yet White Mage is her main so there you go.

-“Hi. I’m the White Mage, I’m here to kill you all.” Quote from Cotota, showing off her in depth understanding of what it means to be the party healer.

-Probably wants to punch Thancred in the mouth. Or kiss him. It depends.

-Finally we have the Miqo’te, Arasen Kahkol. Keeper of the Moon Miqo’te. Only boy of the group. Cheerful, snarky, impulse control what impulse control. Likes to play the happy-go-lucky fool but is actually the Cunning One of the group. He’d be way scarier if his impulse control wasn’t as broken as it is. Blue-black hair color/fur, Fuzzy Ears, long tail with a lion’s bushy tip on the end. One gold eye one green eye. 4′5″ of pure whoop ass. Touch his sisters without their permission and he won’t kill you on the spot, but he will gleefully sell tickets to your beatdown and then follow you down a dark alley to murder your soul.

-Look, LOOK. If you think this tiny cat bby didn’t survive being raised in a tribe of Fite Me hormonal dragon teenagers that all tower over him by a good 2 ft by learning to take them out at the knee caps, or that he isn’t Fully Ready to do the same to you by any means necessary then you have another think coming. Probably while eating dirt. And mourning the loss of your kneecaps.

-How this boy wields a Warrior class axe that’s bigger than him as well as he does is an eternal mystery, but he pulls it off. When Hitting Things With His Axe does not work, he will switch over the being a Black Mage and set everything on fire. His strategy has yet to fail.

-“Why wait for trouble when I can track it down, knock it out, and go through its pockets for Shiny Things?” - Quote from Arasen, displaying his sparkling sense of logic as per usual.

-Was adopted last and was the oldest when he was found by his Au Ra dad at 2 years old. Couldn’t remember his own name because he’d been living in an alley by himself for too long, so he got named Arasen.

Some combined HCs on the trio-

-ONE of these kiddos it the WoL. Everyone is sure of that. The question of the century is WHICH ONE. No one knows, the Trio isn’t telling.

-Honestly they seem to have the marvelous ability to pass the title of WoL and all the trouble that comes with it around like a glorified Hot Potato. This ability is a moot point because they always jump in feet first TOGETHER on anything troublesome so really all three of them might as well be a WoL at this point.

-Most people after getting to know them pray that Temulun is the WoL because Cotota is Terrifying and Arasen is a Problem. Temulun, they believe, is the one calm, reasonable one.

-This is a lie. She is the instigator, because unlike the other two she is ready to help out anyone for almost any reason.

-They would like you to believe that Temulun is the Braincell of the group.

-This is also a lie.

-The Braincell is Arasen. He just has no Impulse Control. The Impulse Control is actually Cotota, but she can’t be bothered half the time because denying Arasen is denying their Instigator, Temulun, and that means dealing with the Pouty Face and frankly nothing is worth the Pouty Face.

-Facing the Immortal Forces of Darkness? Better than the Pouty Face. Smackdown with the Primals themselves? As long as it will keeps the Pouty Face from making an appearance? Kissing Thancred? Sure- wait no, Temulun keep your shipping impulses under control we met him five minutes ago.

-Their Au Ra dad is Temuge btw. He is very proud of his kiddos.

BnHA Chapter 184: JP Hero Billboard Chart

Previously on BnHA: We spent the whole chapter enjoying the cultural festival. Class B entertained with a fantasy play that drew inspiration from no fewer than four separate intellectual properties, proving that it’s not just Monoma who likes to copy stuff. Hounddog handed out some of the most terrifying discipline we’ve seen since Orca’s EXTRA GUIDANCE. Eri regaled Deku with her enthusiastic recap of the concert in vivid detail including sound effects and both Deku and Mirio were thrilled to see her so happy. Those jerk upperclassmen from before apologized for their bad attitude. Everyone was grateful to class 1-A for lifting the school’s spirits. Hadou won the Miss Con competition at long last. Bakugou conquered the warped wall. Shinsou traumatized several class A students for life. Mei successfully wowed people with the support team expo and then promptly passed out afterward. Deku presented Eri with a handmade candy apple and bid her farewell. And lastly, over at the police station, the cops processed Gentle and La Brava and seemed to be taking steps to rehabilitate them. All in all it was the most wholesome chapter ever and I’m almost sorry to see this arc end, but the plot must go on.

Today on BnHA: Aizawa brings Eri back to U.A. and is all “oh yeah by the way, she lives here now.” We learn that Tokoyami interned with a hero named Hawks and YOU ALL KNOW WHO THAT IS. The Pussycats visit the 1-A dorms and announce that they’re coming off their hiatus and that Ragdoll will be supporting them as an OL which is some bullshit but at least she’s okay. Pixie-Bob explains that shockingly, All for One was not inclined to just give her quirk back just like that! We learn that the JP Hero Billboard Chart, the organization that ranks active heroes, will be presenting the new official rankings -- the first without All Might -- shortly. Right now, in fact! We then travel to Kamino for the live presentation. The top 10 heroes are introduced, the highlights of which are Ryuukyuu at #10, Kamui Woods at #7, my new bunny fave Miruko at #5, Edgeshot at #4, Best Finest Elite Superlative Jeanist at #3, and THAT MAN, Hawks, at #2. Oh and Endeavor at #1. With a new suit. I WONDER WHO THIS ARC IS GOING TO BE ABOUT.

(As always, all comments not marked with an ETA are my unspoiled reactions from my first readthrough of this chapter. I’ve read up through chapter 207 now, so any ETAs will reflect that. Just to clarify real quick, my stopping right smack dab in the middle of my boy’s big fight isn’t by choice, lol. so they figured U.A. would be the safest environment for her, rather than a foster home

I love that everyone’s so happy to see them and Mina and Hagakure are even running over for hugs. that’s so heartwarming to see, especially given how the camp ended and the scared and sad terms they must have parted on last time

it’s nice that he apologized. even though it wasn’t their fault (mostly). but I’m sure Bakugou doesn’t particularly like to be reminded of it and would rather just pretend like nothing happened. so I hope they take their cue from him and try not to make him uncomfortable

something like 90% of AO3 is convinced Bakugou has Secret PTSD from this incident, and while I tend to stick to Confirmed Canon Only and thus am more on the side of he probably doesn’t, I’m sure that it’s not something he likes to think about all the same and the subject probably does put him on edge

(ETA: and! come to think of it, the one thing we do know he came away with for sure is a lot of guilt! so it’s more than possible that he actually blames himself for being the cause of the attack and for indirectly being the reason why Ragdoll lost her quirk. so to have them come up and apologize to him when from his perspective he’s the one who caused all the trouble to begin with... now that is something I can see really bothering him, actually. oh Bakugou)

Jirou, who as you recall was also injured during the attack, says that they’re all doing well

and meanwhile Tora brought bread for all of them and Mina’s waving it around excitedly and Ochako looks over the moon. she always loves sweets

It's interesting you bring up Kane "Finn Collins-ing", because in all the discourse over how Bellamy has/hasn't changed, I'm getting a sense of "new Kane" off him that I think is why I'm not connecting. It's a very "let me rationally explain things, Octavia, as I expect things from you that I myself was incapable of" vibe, where it's not like he's WRONG, but he's coming off vaguely self-righteous in a way I hope isn't a pattern (especially if Kane is dying and B steps in as "moral authority").

*sigh* I mean, that all kind of is happening? For now, at least. Bellamy turning into Kane or being his apprentice or being his metaphorical son has been really popular in fandom for a long time, and in the show since s3. Which I don’t want to knock at all for other fans but is still, like I said, only like a halfway-interesting thing for me. So anyway. 6 years.

Bellamy Season 5 Big Picture Speculation

To me it seems clear that one of the major goals that came with the time jump was to dramatically change the main characters. They have to do this to make the time jump believable and to justify its existence. If characters come back the same, why bother? Examples: Clarke has changed a lot in terms of what she prioritizes (her child) and how candid she is with herself about that (100%, no hesitation.) Octavia has changed in terms of adopting Jaha’s world view of violence as a necessary outcome of government and then, tragically, by enduring 6 years of starvation and hell that seemed to validate the choice. Bellamy has changed a couple ways: by bridging his internal emotional self and his external social self, allowing honest and self-reflection. By six years of fighting the elements instead of people, letting him grow a faith in humanity that he probably never really had before. By six years of forcefully talking himself into “think before you act”, to honor this person he loved who died to save them. And most importantly he’s genuinely internalized forgiveness, to himself and to others, finally opening him up to deeper and more meaningful personal relationships without being hamstrung by doubt.

That’s a lot of change for him to go through, and the results kind of resemble Kane a lot. However, I don’t think this will hold forever, for a few reasons. One, Bellamy is not Kane and while Kane has influenced him, we’ve also seen the series draw some lines in the sand about it. Two, we’ve seen New Bellamy get more and more frustrated as he tries to hold his old and new families together, but fails. Acting as New Bellamy allowed him to get his people to the ground and save Clarke and open the bunker, which is wonderful. But it’s not enough for what happens next, when all the people he cares about are in escalating and conflicting dangers. He’s trying, and he’s doing everything ‘right’, and it’s not enough. Everyone is leaving him and people are dying… He’s evidently not doing enough bc his plans are not working, but he’s got to struggle to find what will work (while being scared of / not wanting to become the person he used to be). Contrast that with Clarke, who we saw in 503 is way past doing “what’s right” and is in the zone of “what’s necessary”. Clarke + Octavia makes two women in Bellamy’s life who are making decisions that resemble the person he tried to change away from being. Bellamy now resembles Kane, sure. But Kane is a character who is regularly captured, undermined, beaten, and taken prisoner for holding to his beliefs, whose inaction cost him rule of Arkadia in season 3, and who ultimately had to be rescued time and time again by characters with more shakey moral stances. Kane is often right in an ethical way, but he’s also a reactionary character, and you can’t win just by playing defense. So what I’m getting at here is that none of these approaches are necessarily superior, in the long run.

This is the 100, and what I get from the show after four years is the theme that ALL the characters are somewhat right and somewhat wrong. So if you take Bellamy who is both right and wrong, and seemingly do a 180 spin on how his judgment operates…you still get a Bellamy who is both right and wrong. Same for Clarke, same for Octavia. It’s like being on one end of an ellipse or the other. S3 Bellamy becoming S5 Bellamy completes that switch. But neither version of Bellamy is the best fit for surviving on the ground, now that space sabbatical is over. He’s got to change again, this time, hopefully towards an adaptive middle.

So yeah, I was leery about Kane-Bellamy, but it’s clear to me that this is only the first half of a season where he’s going through a process. I think the situation is gonna get worse, and Zen Bellamy ((hi JtV fans!)) is gonna crack. Rational morality isnt gonna be enough to save his loved ones, and accepting that means Bellamy will have to accept that he can’t fully divorce who he used to be from who he is now. This is going to mirror the main character, Clarke, who is moving from the other extreme (survive at all costs) toward moderation. They’re on a journey towards the center again, and they’re going to discover each other there like they always have. Octavia and Wonkru are also people who gone deep to one way of thinking (far more extreme a move across the graph than either Bellamy or Clarke), and who will be pushed and tested this season. When Bloodreina reaches a breaking point, we’ll see Octavia come forward again, and the values she used to hold be reasserted in her judgment again. But she’s moved the farthest so her return orbit is gonna be the most painful.

CONCLUSION: At this point, I’m not *overly* worried about Bellamy becoming Kane; I see “Kane” as a phase that Bellamy is transitioning through. I hope my instincts are right about that, anyway. I like a little dirt and blood in the water, and Bellamy’s always being a reliable character for that. I think when the season is over we’ll see how much of him is the of the person he grew up as and how much of him is the person he molded himself into for the time jump. They’re both real aspects of him. I anticipate he’ll end up with some of both.

But, to your ask, I don’t think Bellamy is gonna be a moral authority forever. That’s a hot potato that the show passes around pretty freely, all the while saying “btw this potato you’re holding, is it even real? I mean moral relativism….” I know the fandom always wants characters to be or not be “right”, but the show writers only seem interested in seeing the impact of the question, not providing clear answers.

Well really, almost all my Hotch headcanons are some combination of the A, C, and D types.

I think they wouldn’t realistically call it that, but David Rossi and Aaron Hotchner are straight (albeit Hotch I think has a more specific type or might lean demisexual) yet they are clearly in a queerplatonic relationship with each other. I’m talking way beyond typical best friends. They have each other’s backs at work and for home life. They know each other’s secrets and hardships. Rossi helps out Hotch with practical things whether it be coaching Jack’s soccer team or helping him go into Witness Protection in the new season. In general Rossi has been painted as everyone’s protector on this show but especially Hotch’s because Hotch helps protect everyone else and doesn’t have anyone else to particularly look out for him. That being said, I like to headcanon that way more than on the actual show, there have been times when Rossi needed things and Hotch goes above and beyond to help him. There’s hints of it anyway but I imagine also that there are times when maybe Hotch has acknowledged to himself, even, however more difficult it is… acknowledged to Rossi! just how important Rossi is to him.

A headcanon that amuses me a bit that I often think about while rewatching the show is that Hotch is in love with JJ. Usually not heartbreaking although… I think if it is requited at all it’s mutual pining at best.

I believe Hotch and Beth wouldn’t have broken up.

I headcanon that until Beth, the only person he’d ever slept with was Haley. They met in high school after all.

I strongly headcanon that Hotch grew up in an extremely complicated abusive situation and only Rossi knows these kinds of details about his past, although the rest of the team are good at their jobs and have plenty of suspicions. It doesn’t work with canon exactly UNLESS I really force it but I’ve been taking notes in my rewatch and so many little things about Hotch add to my thought process about what could’ve happened to him, and I’ll try to write a Hotch fanfic at one point.

Part of what doesn’t work with canon is that his parents, either of them, abused him. Because of the way he talks about his father’s (contradictory two different causes of) death, and after Morgan prompts him in a season 7 episode, his mom too. (She made him good breakfasts and he serves the same to Jack.)

I have concocted an elaborate headcanon for myself in the meantime where Hotch’s father kidnapped, sexually molested, took out rage, and probably killed random kids and Hotch was “only” a helpless witness for some of this, his father’s main form of abusing Hotch was subjecting him to watching this happen to others. This man was the epitome of psychologically abusive to his own family, to his wife/to Hotch’s mom, to Aaron, to his brother Sean but maybe *only Aaron* ended up really knowing a large chunk of the horror.

By high school or so Hotch and Sean ended up luckily in a new home or perhaps separate homes. I forget the age difference between them but Sean is a lot younger so I’m thinking Aaron was in high school and Sean was… very little. The people Hotch chooses to consider Mom and Dad are his adoptive or foster parents. They might’ve been an older couple when they took him in which is why they died before the show started…

I imagine the horrible things that he watched happen to other kids but that didn’t happen directly to him make Aaron constantly feel that he’s lucky, that any trauma he’s endured is nothing compared to the horror others have had to survive or others didn’t survive at all. I imagine his extreme involvement in cases involving trying to rescue children from monsters is not just inspired by his own feelings of love for his own son but much more than that by many memories. I take little moments from the show for his character and interpret how they’d fit in with this, like the way Hotch is often the one doing CPR on children at the end of an ep if there is a child…

Since you, @traumacarriedsara, and I already discussed seasons 1-3 Hotch moments from angles of him being abused I’ll start with some season 4 ones. Hotch tells Morgan at the end of 4x01 that the fact that he’s alive, his own life, means a lot to him. It seems like a significant and oddly vulnerable moment. This is the aftermath of the explosion and an episode where Hotch tries so hard to save a friend’s life but unfortunately fails… and then the next episode, Hotch reacts to the bad news that his hearing problems could become permanent with almost no reaction. Doesn’t let it bother him. And he takes risks that hurt his hearing and cause him physical pain like going on the plane anyway, because his job is so important to him? Hotch is also the agent, of all the agents it could’ve been, to in this episode look into the dead baby’s nursery, Hotch takes it all in, then knows to look in the chest with the flowers on top and finds the corpse.

There are more moments I wrote down but I want to skip to a few more pertinent ones:

4x04 Hotch is upset he had talked to the unsub and missed the this was the guy they’d been looking for. He’s driving, rossi in the passenger seat,and Rossi reassures him that it could’ve been any of them. Hotch is still upset about it at the end if the episode though. He bows his head shamefully and Rossi tells him we’ve all been there. Hotch takes it so personally that he couldn’t tell.

4x06 there’s a lot to unpack but… skipping a little… he has to regretfully inform the parents of the kidnapped boy that they did find a preferential sex offender at the funeral but not the person who has their son. The mother asks how many of these people are out there and he sadly and solemnly answers “more than you want to know”. I think it’s interesting how much Hotch gets to be the one dealing with the emotional parents in this episode. Later, the mother grabs the phone from Hotch and tearfully begs thar her son not be hurt. He watches her sadly.

4x09 has so much… Hotch yells at Jordan for lying to a family during one of the worst times of their lives, lying about having a sister who died. He takes it very personally. As he leaves angrily, Jordan turns to Morgan 10:45 and asks him how badly she screwed up. Morgan says on a normal scale of 1-10 probably a 6, but on Hotch’s an 11. For some reason this is a particularly sore spot for Hotch. (This reminds me a bit of the serial killer on death row lying about his childhood and Hotch reacting especially negatively.)

There’s other things I took notes on while rewatching season 4 but I’ll slip just to the simple fact that in 4x17, when asked whether or not he believes in evil,  he gives the in between answer between Rossi and Morgan. He mentions how he thinks we’re all capable of unspeakable things.

In 4x18, the first episode with George Foyet, Hotch chooses to make a pretty long trip to Boston when Shaunessy is on his death bed and it seems like that’s kind of what Hotch tends to do repeatedly, people he doesn’t know well, sometimes unsubs, he still wants to be a comfort in a dying moment if they have no one else. Hotch firmly states “we don’t let them get away with it” and what Shaunessy did was wrong. Hotch clearly and explicitly refuses to make a promise to the dying man that he doesn’t intend to keep. He will tell the victim’s families he’s sorry but not that he had no choice, because Hotch believes Shaunessy did have a choice. But by the end of the episode, after Foyet asks Hotch why more people had to die , trying to blame him, Hotch is strong enough to say “Don’t ask me,  you’re the serial killer”. I think from the perspective that Hotch had lived through his father being a serial killer and maybe his mother letting the guy get away with a lot or even helping, a lot of types of scenes work in a new light. I love rewatching the whole show with this headcanon in mind.

Even 4x24 Hotch stays professional whole anthrax ep and can’t focus on Reid dying either, he draws a firm stance around protocol and around how if there’s nothing more that they as fbi agents can do for Reid, they need to focus on the bigger picture. And it’s practically cold and kind of a contrast to how he has acted in some other episodes, but at the same time I think it’s interesting that he’s got that kind of strength and focus and determination and ability to compartmentalize.

I didn’t want to go into later seasons because we’d be here all day but I do briefly want to mention 5x08, where the whole ep deals with families being murdered again.  I find his argument with Emily about whether or not to show pictures of a dead 12 year old to a serial killer interesting. She says they’re not “just” images and he says that’s exactly what they are!! I could honestly see the scene reversed having worked too. Either character could take the practical, “these are pictures, they aren’t causing additional harm to real people” stance and either could be too blinded by emotion. But like.. considering how protective and viscerally angry Hotch is in cases involving kids… considering this headcanon of mine…

I feel like Hotch is focused on whatever it takes saving children. He stopped being a prosecutor because while putting away the monsters felt good, it always felt like it was too late. He wants to catch them earlier, be a part of literally saving lives in a less abstract way, and while it does upset him if a serial killer gets pleasure out of others’ pain, most of the time his focus is more on trying not to care about what the serial killer feels or doesn’t feel. He is extremely determined in wanting to *practically* figure out how to save the most future pain, save victims.

Now the biggest thing is that however much I try to make it work with canon, this extremely intense headcanon actually doesn’t work with canon, I just believe it anyway. It doesn’t make sense that it would never have come up. Especially with the whole Ashley Seaver arc… It probably doesn’t make sense that Hotch is this well adjusted, even. But… I like to believe it all anyway.

I am exploding with so many thoughts and feelings when it comes to so many characters on this show, really…

okay so studying is killing me atm so i decided to use some chill time to chatter about my ocs…my kids….because lbr this blog is a mess of assorted information

context? i suck at plotting and also gonna dodge some spoilers for now so all u need to know is that the story is set in a futuristic sci fi/urban fantasy sort of world (with some of those sweet dystopic elements thrown in because i love dystopias, even ya ones, especially ya ones) in which magic is a thing which a few people have (is it genetics? is it prophecy? this is why i don’t have a plot yet) but its sort of rather illegal to use and have because either a. magic users have put people in danger in the past and/or b. there is a prophecy that claims magic users will revive an old aristocracy based society in which those with magic had absolute rule and it sucked for every else so there was a revolution and honestly? no one wants that back. it sucked. mostly magic users have their magic removed and their memories wiped so they can start anew in society (although with a few restrictions for a while)

the main four kiddos are a bunch of late teens/young adults (i’m thinking about 19/20?) that have teamed up for various reasons to do some of that sweet illegal magic stuff and maybe jumpstart a prophecy that dooms the world but that last bit was an accident, and accidents happen.

first up is stella shields, who technically dates back to one of the first ocs i ever made??? (she has definitely changed a lot tho haha) stella is the self-proclaimed leader of the group given that she has good leadership qualities and is confident and brave and also very tol and swol, so there skylar

she has no memories of her childhood and is fixated on finding her birth mother, who she believes was andromeda sparks, famed/disgraced figure in prophecy. stella has no magic and believes it was removed as a child, and has been adopted by a lovely but kind of sneaky lady called tamara. tamara studies prophecy and such which is how stella even guessed that in the first place (also because they look super similar).

stella is a deconstruction of a heroic stereotype - she’s tall, strong, and despite having no magic she fights just as well as (if not better than) most of the cast. she even has the fancy heir-style backstory to boot. unfortunately, during the story…things…happen which deplete her strength and she has to take a backseat to the action, which tears her up inside but also prompts her looking at herself without a heroic lens and seeing her flaws/how much unnecessary importance she places on her status as a hero and her heritage

besides being obsessed with the idea of being a hero like her mother was, stella kind of has an ongoing identity crisis which she fills up with fantasies of finding her mother and dumping traits she thinks a hero should have in place of her almost “blank slate” personality (which she’s pretty in denial about). her character arc is about her finally recognising the way that she fills in others’ traits as her own and her growing as her own person and aaaaaaaa i love to see my baby mature

next is lina taylor, the problematic fave™ and stella’s best friend since high school. I’m not gonna lie i love lina a lot because she’s probably the first character i started applying actual flaws and consequences - as in, not 100% forgivable and pure intentioned flaws like being ‘too selfless’ and stuff.

lina is paranoid to the point where it hurts not only herself but others, and tends to lash out when feeling pretty much any negative emotion - sometimes her caution pays off, other times it does even more damage. she’s deathly scared of being betrayed and thus hates anyone knowing too much about her, lies about herself incredibly often, and will attack anyone who tries to get close to her if she feels threatened. however, she is a quick thinker and will immediately take a fall for her loved ones if she thinks one of them is in danger.

is lina a magic user? technically spoilers (eh…like its pretty early on? not a big one?) but someone dies and in her panic she brings them back to life. sort of. mostly. in that yeah, their heart beats, but they’re kind of (unknowingly) a walking corpse. her magic is of the healing variety, but explaining how magic works is kind of complicated in a character post rn….maybe later. just know that that sort of magic is a one-off and no, she can’t bring people back to life willy nilly (or even fully back to life at all)

honestly i love her character development as well because she learns that hey, she kind of is a pretty toxic person and has to work to undevelop these traits and make up for the times she screws up. it makes everyone around her happier, but it also makes her so much happier too (which i think she does deserve)

next is skylar ashe, technically good person? best known for doing his best, skylar is far and beyond the best magic user in the cast (main characters and probably even secondary characters too) probably because he’s one of the few characters that indulges in the slightly illegal hobby. skylar is well spoken and clever, and one of those people who has stupidly high aspirations at all times. he and stella have a rivalry thing going on, and they’re very jealous of each other (although skylar never notices because his self esteem is so low he can’t comprehend someone admiring him. he needs a hug)

skylar for the most part is a sweetheart (#teammum) and is a nice person to be around but can also be a bit scary given that a. he is very very manipulative when he wants to be and b. his moral code is a bit worn down in places. he tends to over-rationalise his own behaviour when guilt becomes too apparent, and can come off as cold. rip don’t piss him off mostly

skylar is sort of??? essie’s adopted brotherish person (essie’s up next!!). his magic appeared when he was a really little kiddo but his parents didn’t want to turn him because he was like 6. and thus a pair of lawful goods decided to buck the law for a while (like 10 years, which is a p good effort i guess) but that went about as well as expected and skylar eventually runs away from home, and comes under the care of essie’s mums. this is partially why skylar gets so much of his self worth from magic because despite the fact that it kind of screwed up his family it’s one of the few things he’s good at - he spent years and years practising so he could bottle it up (btw his magic is illusion and telekinetically based)

listen just give this kid some history books and a quiet room and he will be the most happy ever, and probably give you a hug and buy you lunch. his heart is in the right place most of the time and he does try to act in altruistic ways. that whole self-rationalising thing gets challenged a LOT throughout the story likethetimeheaccidentallykilledsomeonebutdontworryaboutthat and honestly? boy learns that no, you don’t need magic abilities/fun illegal hobbies 2 b kewl. u just need to love urself xx

fINALLY IS ESSIE IM LOVE HER TBH. vanessa mayford, known gay, and also part of the magic squad made up of skylar and a few other characters. a dancer by day and the voice of reason™ by night. except she’s not really that great of a voice of reason per se given that her response to “is that illegal” is “did u mean a challenge"

essie is very extroverted and a bit (a lot) of an attention seeker - if she’s there she’s mostly in it for the thrills. even if she’s not the best with reasonable advice (see above) she’s a bit of a bleeding heart and will always give someone a hug and a pep talk if they need it. on one hand she’s got her super overdramatic flair going on but also on the other she’s occasionally chill?? like she’ll do dumb stuff just for fun but is also pretty much unfazed by anything. a dragon or something could be staring her in the face and she’d just be like “can i jump high enough to kick it in the nose”

alas, as is the way with many loud people, she has pretty low self confidence and relies on the validation of others to feel like she’s accomplished anything in her life (which is one reason why she’s always trying to get people’s attention). she feels very unfulfilled with how her life is going despite still being very young, and thus is driven by the fatal american need to have a pretty good time to do reckless things just for the adrenaline rush - everything is a performance for her. she also hates conflict within her own group of friends, and sometimes brushes things under the rug if she thinks it’ll cause a problem, electing to try to deal with it herself.

essie’s magic has been a bit fiddly given that the rules change depending on the rules of magic (which tend to change from setting to setting). her magic is atm shapeshifting but the rules of it are getting a bit confusing so I’m thinking about changing it a little bit. whatever her magic is, she cares the least about magic and thus while she has a lot of raw power she can’t be bothered training to increase it (if she did, she’d probably outrank skylar power-wise).

in conclusion? essie is a babe and im love her a lot. she’s the charming, gay and flirty gal that we all need in our lives and one of my fave characters to write tbh. wins awards for best dressed, most likely to succeed, best dancer (she’s a cheerleader btw) and probably also prom queen. i would vote for her. she would probably cry but that’s okay

Ok let’s recap on the flaws with Facebook. 1-nudes There has been many complaints in the past where women have had conversations with a man they only just fucking met, next thing they know their inboxes or pms have been inundated with pics of the phallic symbol! No decent self respecting lady wants to see it, put it away or chop it off! 2-bullying Let’s be honest, we all have our share of enemies right? But you just wanna go online and chat. Unfortunately despite your privacy settings, the only option you have is the ignore messages features, but should you one day check your other message box to see if let’s say, a long lost family member who is not on your buddy list tries to contact you they can only get through on that other inbox, they don’t have a phone number or email address for you yet so what do they do? So you go check to see if they get in touch and bang, before you know it, your enemies have found you and your pms are full of hate-FUCKING FAIL. 3-Facebook is possibly the most controlling and manipulative of social media ever to hit this planet! Some people just want to make new friends, even with strangers, After all that’s how you make friends in the first place, The olive branch is delivered, the recipient decides to accept, and from there can determine a whole new social relationship, be it common ground, interests or hobbies right? On the other hand not everybody was to be social with strangers and may feel uncomfortable with that hand of friendship so they just may decline politely and walk away! Now Facebook is like that, But they got Add or Block. Now You will get some that will accept others might block you, But sometimes the Facebook algorithm will not even let you add people you have known for years, it will often issue warnings and if you try to make too many new friends it will restrict your account by what we often call Facebook jail, which is an algorithm put in place to limit people’s activity on this site, so really it’s the kind of social network that won’t let you be social. And who wants to be told who they can and can’t have as friends? Not something a British person wants to be told by an American is it? There is also a freedom of speech issue on here. Nobody wants to be trolled or told what to do by politically correct morons. But because of strict features in place on this site you can’t have an opinion, I have noticed incidents where someone has posted a perfectly innocent comment or photo on here, And some spiteful troll has reported it! Thing is Facebook is all automated, it doesn’t have moderators doing a Santa clause watching for who is naughty or nice, it has a bunch of codes and algorithms that tell it that. Or does it? People have been reported for posting something perfectly harmless as a pet pic or something else innocent, but along comes some spiteful bastard and it gets taken down for violating community standards! But you will get some dolly bird with a selfie showing a bit too much, and you try to report it, Facebook comes back with, it doesn’t go against our community standards, How fucked up is that? Now the upsides to Facebook jail is if you get a bully or someone doing something inappropriate on there they are sent to Facebook jail! Only problem is they are let out later to re-offend! 4-Inbox or Pm I have to give Facebook it’s due, It does completely filter out porn or nudity on the timeline,you try to post anything sexual on your main wall, be sure it will be taken down. But what about the personal messages? Five gets you ten that some of you or most of you on

here have had some kind of outside harrasment in PM! You have had porn bots, nudes,threats or other kinds of unpleasant stuff, you try to report it but before you get a chance to screen shot it as evidence, your cyber assailant has removed the message via this new fucking un-send button! Now un-send is quite handy if 1-you sent a pm to wrong person 2-you had a typing error Or 3-you sent a file or msg in error. But let me tell you the problem with it. As stated if you have had for example some perve showing off his dick, before you can get a chance to screenshot and report it he romved it, so really the un-send button is not very helpful! 5-privacy Facebook has had repeated issues regarding human rights and privacy. There’s been numerous reports where your data and accounts are leaked to third parties, this is unacceptable. 6-bots These are bloody pests that spam your inbox linking you to paid porn sites, scams or malicious content and malware and all because Facebook leaked your private data! Media Facebook never seems to pay much attention if you post your favourite music via YouTube. But what if you want to share a favourite song on your timeline in the form of an MP3? And why not? It worked for MySpace users! But try to do it on Facebook and they come down on you like a ton of bricks regarding copyright warnings! Now what puzzles me is years ago when Facebook was less than its greater size, they used to have a feature called sound bytes, you could upload an mp3 on Facebook, but then they took it off, they also took away good stuff like when they used to have an active chatroom app, bit strips and a few other kool apps they decided to fuck right off! And after all if you are just posting an mp3 of a song you like on your wall, and you don’t plan to make profit from it, then wtf is all this copyright bullshit anyway? 7-safety I personally don’t feel that Facebook is completely safe for anybody to be honest. It doesn’t have appropriate safeguards. Trolls will attack you sometimes on group pages just for having an opinion, and admins to not always take much notice, and if you get an admin that is in agreement with the trolls you are screwed! In the past Facebook has been a haven for Islamic groups to radicalise others on here to join terrorist networks and still is today! Facebook has been subject to crime related posts before now! 8-video calling Now this feature always bothered me. Ok you can go live on your timeline where your friends can see, but did you know other people can see you even if you don’t have your settings on public? This is because of privacy leakage and cyber criminals know your every move! Video in inbox is even worse, It’s a haven for perverts to put on a show and again is monitored by cyber criminals! This is why Skype and zoom are probably your best bet when video calling, sometimes WhatsApp and TikTok are not completely safe! 9 Lack of features I noticed that Facebook is kind of drying up when it comes to games and apps,also at the time it had an active chatroom, only thing is it was driven by flash player which generally now is obsolete! 10-ads All wel and good I suppose if you want to advertise a business to hundreds of people on Facebook yet it very seldom regards this as spam, or you will get the odd troll complaining that it is, yet if you try to post your service in multiple groups, Facebook will attribute this to spam and restrict you. This is because Facebook monetises itself with ads from all kinds of sources in and out of itself! So you dare not try to promote outside their promote ads feature-FAIL! So do you still love Facebook now? But consider this! Before you go slating something by someone, ignoring it or scrolling past it because your ego is to high and you think you are too good to sit up and take notice, I want you to bear something in mind! Now regardless of my 10 thoughts on the negative side of Facebook I can’t tell others not to go on it or twist their fucking arms up there backs to go elsewhere, But theres always this thing where you give something a

chance or a trial, and you never know you might actually like it, but if you don’t then at least you took it into account! soooo he is amara’s ex-husband and father of August. Since he is from ancient greece like Amara, Silas and the others, his name ofc isn’t actually Nate Clifford, as he has recently adopted that in the 21st century in order to blend in with the times. His real name is Aegeus.

Life in Ancient Greece, some time in the 1st century BC, as a normal human:

So far, Andrea and I have plotted that he and amara married out of love and it was not an arranged marriage, tho i think their union was probably approved by both their families considering that they didn’t elope and that most marriages were usually arranged by the families at that time, and theirs waren’t. She was 14 and he 24 when they got married, big age gap i know, but then again it was very, very common during those times to even marry someone 30 years older ryt? XD But anyway, he and Amara fell really fast and headlong in love with each other.

 So far i have it in my head that he was a nice, independent, had pretty smart brains, determined, decent & very well-mannered, kind, brave and quite the dutiful son to his parents. He was also rather proud ( not really much in the negative way but more in the sense that he valued honor and respect a lot, takes pride in keeping his dignity, face, name and family name as well as family honor upright. he can also be brash at certain decisions.

He and Amara had a very loving, happy and faithful marriage which was why August was born with so much love and adoration from both his parents quite soon after their union. Poor man didn’t get to be with his son for long tho, as about a year after August was born, he got sent way/ joined the war (I have to clear this detail with Andrea first tho before 100% confirming it as part of his story;D haha)

Life after Ancient Greece and as a vampire:

Okie so he died at war, when he was 27, unfortunately leaving behind a widowed Amara and baby toddler August :( In the year of 1811, he was suddenly resurrected back to life as a human by a witch in London, who was hungrily trying to see if she could create a resurrection spell and he was one of the 3 ppl that she successfully brought back to life and which she randomly chose from very diff past centuries. Her spell however, wasn’t fully successful in the end, as 2 out of the 3 people she brought back to life, died after only a week. And hence, amara’s ex-husband was also about to die very soon and so the witch, desperate to ensure the survival of at least one of her ‘magical science lab-rats/ pet projects’, she then asked a vampire friend of hers to help turn him into a vampire so as to make sure that he live. He was very weak as a resurrected human at that time and barely conscious most of the time and not really aware of what was happening to him. So it was only after he had transitioned into a vampire, only did he fully wake up, was conscious and brimming back to health, full of life. Brains working, senses alert and everything, he was thus told abt what they both did to him and he then ultimately remembered who he was, his whole identity and former life as a human with Amara in the ancient times. He was thus grief-stricken and devastated to know that he was know alive in a completely diff era and Amara and his whole family was obvs. long dead for more than a thousand centuries already. Since he was now a vamp and knowing that he would then have to live for an infinite number of years without his family and friends from the past, he then seeked help & bumped into a kind-hearted witch whom he begged her to help him. Now this 2nd witch also happens to be one of Xandria’s ancestors in the past btw :)P He requested her to help him take away  all of his memories of being alive in ancient times, basically his whole former life as a human & most especially of having a wife and child, as it pained him too much & it was too suffering for him to think about both of them especially.  And Xandria’s London ancestor at that time, determined to keep her promise to him to help relieve him of his painful memories of the past, then spun him a new life story lie, after she had removed his real past memories and told him a simple story of him ‘being born and raised in that current 18th century and that his family members were dead already and he himself had been in the wrong place, at the wrong time, and was caught in a crossfire sword&gun fight between a group of people , leading to his untimely death. As he was almost dying, he was then revived by a passing vampire who took pity on the man having to die so young’, the very same vampire who had turned him earlier in the first place & who happened to be Xandria’s ancestor’s lover! ( thus as y’all can see that besides wanting to be kind to the poor lad, she also wanted to protect her lover’s butt and not having Aegeus come after him for revenge of having turned him into a vampire against his will. She also kept a few secret diaries during her lifetime, so she did also write in the whole account of everything that had happened and what she did, in one of those diaries, which is now in Xandria’s collection of diaries, which Xandria had dug up among many others of her ancestors,  over the passing years and compiled into her own keeping for knowledge. ( about half of the women and some of the men in Xandria’s family tree of ancestors, including Xandria herself, kept diaries lmaoXD)

She and her vampire lover then helped him to adapt to both living as a supernatural while still perfectly appearing as a ‘normal human’ in the 18th century and after her death, said vampire also helped him for  a little while longer on how to change his culture of living based on whichever time period he was in and how to blend in and quickly adapt to each passing of period of change in the human society. As he still had a few traits from his former life, he was a quick learner, and grew to be very independent and bold & by some miracle, seemed to have a strong sense of business acumen. Thus for the past 2 centuries, he had worked very hard from the bottom to the top of society and eventually dabbled in many, various enterprises and business deals over his 211 years of living as a vampire.

Hence, he has by now accumulated a great amount of wealth and he also has changed his identity and name over the years to appear as a perfectly normal 27 year old ‘human’ and traveled widely to many diff places. He came to the States  after WW2, and has been living in many diff places all around US until now.

He has come to NOLA largely because he wants to oversee the starting operations of a new branch of one of his businesses there and isn’t really bothered nor cares about whatever is brewing in NOLA right now. He also had this very tiny , weird feeling in him some weeks back, that seemed to be calling him to NOLA, that tiny subconscious gut feeling that is kinda giving him a hint that it is imperative that he be in NOLA rn. But he had then quickly brushed off this feeling shortly after he felt it as nothing much to it and dismiss the small unknown hint. He’s just there to attend to his affairs, have a fun time, enjoying himself as much as possible in this vibrant city and then leave.  His personality currently is of a v flirtatious, fun and easy-going person with a happy-go-lucky , v carefree personality, & also with an enterprising business mind on the side . He’s also a non-committal person and enjoys his bachelorhood way too much to settle down anytime soon, hahaXD. He is also very friendly and likes to dwell on the positive instead of the negative.
