Question for alterhumans who are also furries- how do you feel about making a fursona of your therio/kintype? (not necessarily a kinsona, just an OC of the same species.) Does it seem weird or uncomfortable to you, or affirming, or would it feel entirely disconnected from your alterhumanity?

I'm curious what y'all think because I'm considering making a hyena-bug hybrid sona- I'm a hyena therian who just really likes bugs :)

House centipede

Scutigera coleoptrata

The house centipede can be identified by its silver-gray body, with white/tan stripe markings, and long, thin legs. They are often mistaken for silverfish or ear wigs (which will have their separate posts soon).

The “babies” look almost exactly like the adults, they start off very small with only four sets of legs instead of the fifteen. They aren’t considered adults until they molt four more times (out of a total of six molts)

It’s commonly found in dark, moist, cool places, such as bathrooms, kitchens, and basements/attics.

They are solitary creatures, though you may find multiple in the home, which can be an indicator of a different bug infestation, as they feed on many pests.

As stated above, they eat many pests, including: termites, earwigs, flies, and cockroaches.

They are also the prey of many animals, such as lizards, toads, birds, mice, beetles, and some species of snakes.

Unlike many centipedes it can live its entire life indoors and is almost completely harmless to humans.

Fun fact: if a predator grabs a house centipede by its legs it can shed them and regenerate them when it molts next.

The house centipede is generally beneficial to not only the environment, but to you as well. They are a supply of food for a variety of animals and eat generally harmful insects; including household pests.

The house centipede doesnt have any relationship with any insects, but it can have a mutualistic relationship with humans, for the reason above^, many people keep it around for the benefit of it keeping away pests. Basically, the house centipede gets food + the human gets free pest control

While it's not generally recommended to handle house centipedes, they are not dangerous to humans and can be handled cautiously. They’ll likely to run away instead of bite, but they can bite if they feel threatened, though, the reaction is usually mild, with only a small reddish bump.

My personal rating: 3/5 ★★★☆☆

Its not my favorite bug, but i certainly like it. I have them wandering around my house but i dont see or interact with them too often.

(Keep in mind this rating is just my personal opinion, you can feel differently about the house centipede! There is no correct answer for how to feel about bugs!)
