24 weeks pregnant

Dakota was now at a point in her pregnancy where not only she felt the baby move, but Adler could as well. She had been feeling little flutters building up to more defined movements for weeks, but it wasn’t until a week ago that Adler had actually felt something. They had been so excited in the moment that Dakota was positive they almost kissed again, like the way they did nearly ten weeks ago at her gender reveal. Things were changing between them again. Getting more intimate.

For the past 4 nights, at around exactly this time, their son liked to be super active. It would be a lie to say the two of them weren’t waiting patiently for him to begin. Dakota couldn’t explain it, but it was the most exhilarating feeling. She looked forward to this all the time now.

She knew Adler did, too. The first night, the first time he felt the baby ever, she had encouraged him to try, that it might finally be the time. Last night, he asked before the baby even began to move.

“Oh!” Dakota gasped in excitement, when she finally felt the familiar kicks yet again.

Adler perked up at her sudden movement, ready to place a hand on her, before his movements faltered and he hesitated. “May I?” He asked.

Dakota rolled her eyes and nodded, guiding his hands against her skin. Like the past few nights, his face broke out into the biggest smile at the slightest detection of movement . Her expression tended to mirror his.

“You don’t have to keep asking, you know.” She told him.

Adler blinked in surprise. “What?”

“To touch me. Like, you can touch me whenever you want.” Dakota realized what she said, which wasn’t exactly what she meant, and her face turned bright red. “My belly, I mean. You don’t have to ask to feel him move.” She didn’t know what it was about Adler that made her trip over her words, or make her so nervous.

She couldn’t explain the look he was currently giving her. “Really?” He almost sounded in disbelief. “Are you sure?”

Dakota doubted he would even take her up on her offer, but she nodded anyways, wanting to know she was serious. “I want you to be as comfortable with me as you’d like me to be with you.” She said earnestly. She had no idea what door she was opening by making this offer, but she didn’t care anymore. She meant her words. “Besides, I really don’t mind. I like when we’re close.”
