I just can’t wrap my head around how thoroughly haymitch’s acts of rebellion were erased. this is a victor who literally set off two bombs in the arena. imagine having to follow a script about your own trauma, while trying to keep track of what’s “real or not real” about the most horrific period of your life.

haymitch’s story is a reminder that the rebellion was decades in the making, built off of generations of grief and trauma. how many other acts of resistance were covered up by the capitol? how many other victors defied them in the arena?

I was just thinking about how much I love fanarts that show the Batkids as real people and not some model kids. I love it when artists draw them realistically.

I love fanarts that draw Tim with huge eye bags, sunken cheeks and hair so long he has to tie them back bcs he's, in fact, going to look like a very, very tired high schooler and not a handsome young man with Korean glass skin.

I love it when they draw Jason with scars. SCARS. SCARS. SCARS. Everywhere. Maybe add a lazy eye, maybe his upper lip pulling up with (yet another) old scar, a crooked nose where a punch didn't sit right, a cut on his eyebrow bcs his body tells stories of his survival and he's still so fucking beautiful, not despite his scars, but because of them.

I love it when Damian is drawn with a scowl but also chubby cheeks and long lashes bcs he is, after all, a kid who takes after his mother. I mean, only Dick looking like a gorgeous glam boy is acceptable bcs he is supposed to be exactly that. But he's also realistic in the way he breaks, picks himself up, and loves and fights anyway.

I mean, let them be more human. Let them be real people who have survived things, and fought wars they carry on their bodies and in their minds, who are more than just icons or aesthetic-heavy beings.

This is what I hope for when I write my brahms fanfics. I keep reading other's stories (who are so much better written) and I'm like, "am I even bringing anything new to the fandom?"

If Clark and Bruce look practically identical and Kon is Clark’s clone does that mean Kon looks identical to young Bruce?

Does Dick do double takes when Kon walks in the room, remembering the young 25 year old who took him in? Does Tim have small panics about dating a man who will grow up to look identical to his father? Does Damian wonder about this young man who looks more like his father than him? Does Alfred ruffle his hair and hand him extra cookies because he looks so much like that young man who returned to him after years abroad?

Superman is Superman. He’s untouchable even when he wears their father’s face. Kon is their peer, their friend, their lover. What does it mean that he has Bruce Wayne’s face?

These are just a few of the reasons I LOVE the LGBTQIA+ community so much!

It's always important to remember what being a part of a community like this means. For me personally it means home, it means love, friendship and safety but for millions of people across the world right now it's the opposite, with everything going on in the world (especially with the recent rulings in the UK and USA) it's easy to forget that not everyone has a safe space in the world, they're being persecuted and hated for just being themselves!

Remember people, be there, be seen, be careful, be proud but above all be kind!

And on that note, if you need a friend, a place to vent or rant about anything that's going on in your life then my inbox and DMs are open to all who need a friendly face and listening ear.

If your family don't accept you then I'm your family now. Go eat, drink some water, and take your meds!

The distress of being in your teens and the distress of being in your twenties are actually pretty different experiences, with a sprinkling of similarities. Both times you are you, who is feeling so utterly alone and unsupported, and you make the mistake of assuming that you are the only one having that experience. Teenage years were all about finding and keeping friends, and fitting into your target social group, and building your values and opinions on topics like conformity or confrontation. At least, despite the stress you are experiencing in your twenties, you have that. You have a solid background of overcoming distress and learning/growing from it. This time feels higher stakes and you’re much more “on your own” but you can still use positive coping mechanisms that you either tried or wish you knew about back then. And at least there’s also some hope in knowing that these stages end.

I need to share one of my favourite quotes from Mark Vonnegut that is supremely relevant:

“Reading and writing are in themselves subversive acts. What they subvert is the notion that things have to be the way they are, that you are alone, that no one has ever felt the way you have.”

If you’re looking for a way to cope with distress, try reading. Or writing.
