it’s the “Danny works for the Justice League” again but even more wonky:

Danny Fenton is but a simple engineer/ghost expert man

Phantom is but a simple ghostly hero

The Ghost King is but a simple “evil” monarch

so o’course Phantom gets called to protect Danny from the Ghost King

but you know that part where the story expanded so Dani was Danny and the Ghost King’s daughter?

and the Justice League thinks Danny was married to the Ghost King because of the Ring of rage that he can’t take off? so they think he still holds a torch?

Right.

Then, after the “truth” come out, the JL calls Phantom like “did you know about this??”

and he can’t just confirm it or deny it, it would be giving away precious info that doesn’t exist and he doesn’t have 

Phantom is so obtuse about it that the JL assumes he is avoiding the topic because he objected to the wedding was in love with Danny 

“Remember that time Phantom fought the Ghost King? Think maybe it had to do with this? and Danny was like Persephone?”

But then people begin making connections between Dani and Phantom and how they look similar, almost the same

So the people begin to think that Danny cheated on the Ghost King and that is why he’s “after him”

Dani is vibing the chaos, everyone knows she wants to be with her three fathers and rooting for poly, if only they all could meet and talk it out

“Communication is important, Dad,” she says with an innocent grin, “Pops said so.”

Cue meddling heroes conspiring to make the three-- totally different entities, not at all just one person-- do exactly that.

bonus: “What’s the JL thinking?”

danny looking uncomfortable = he is feeling guilty + he is torn

phantom wanting the JL to “leave it alone” + always going “i have to go” or “it doesn’t matter” when the topic comes up = defensive and resigned to unrequited

the ghost king being surprisingly quiet = disappointed and heartbroken + still has feelings and can’t actually do harm + menacingly + wants visitation rights

Barbatos and Solomon's first meeting and a theory of mine, aka: what if Solomon summoned Barbatos to save his friend?

WARNING: SPOILERS FOR SWD S3 AND NB S1 AHEAD

Okay, so we've had pieces of info about their first meeting for a while now, but after collecting everything I could on these two to make my recent posts I was able to put them together and here it is.

First, there are the two times the story was briefly told in Obey Me! SWD, this one being from lesson 53-16 when Asmo discusses his first meeting with Solomon and then asks Barbatos about his:

And this next one being from lesson 49-A when Asmo asks about it for the first time and Solomon doesn't want to tell him:

And we learn what happened in the aftermath from Thirteen when she tells us about it in Obey Me! NB lesson 11-10:

So Solomon risked his life to summon Barbatos using an incantation and was left on the brink of death because of it, all because he "desperately needed his powers to control time", and after their interaction and whatever happened there, Barbatos took him to the Fountain of Knowledge and declared him the new protector of it.

By the way, they didn't make a pact during their first meeting but later on instead, or at least that's what I got from Barbatos saying:

I'm saying this because "eventually" is vague enough to be open to interpretation and could mean that they did make a pact during their first meeting and that it only took some bargaining for Barbatos to agree. But the way I saw it was that the pact was made later on.

So, the questions left unanswered from this are:

1 ) What made Solomon want to control time badly enough for him to seriously risk his life for it?

2 ) Did Barbatos help Solomon by using his powers to control time like he wanted him to?

Because it never says that Barbatos agreed to Solomon's "desperate need", and it doesn't say why Solomon was so desperate for it in the first place, only telling us that there was something he wanted enough to risk death for it.

But it does answer WHY later.

At first I thought we didn't have more info on their first meeting, but then I remembered this little moment from Obey Me! NB ( that I added to my post afterward and here's the screenshot from the post because I was too lazy to open the game and go to the lesson again ):

So Solomon almost died summoning Barbatos because he desperately needed his powers to control time after causing serious destruction to the Human World with his...?

Well, maybe, the passage does say that Barbatos appeared before him and not that he was purposely summoned by him, but it could be that the book is just depicting what people at the time thought happened, since it makes it sound like that was their first meeting when Barbatos himself said that Solomon summoning him was how they first met.

Anyway, let's assume I'm right and that's what happened and the reason why Solomon needed Barbatos was to fix the damage he did to the Human World unintentionally.

THE MAIN THEORY: Solomon summoned Barbatos to save his childhood friend's life, who was affected by Solomon's powers going out of control.

This is something that Solomon tells us in Obey Me! NB lesson 14-16, that he had a friend while he was locked up in the basement as a kid. He tells us the story of how they met and says that from then on the friend started visiting him regularly and that they would chat through the bars of the window basement and that's how their interactions went for however long. But then while telling us about them he suddenly stops:

And thus this became my current theory.

Solomon's powers, which have always vastly surpassed your usual human's, start getting out of control and becomes a threat to the world, endangering one of his loved ones ( much like MC's in S2 with Lucifer ). And desperate to save their life and out of what to do, he summons a demon he knows can control time to help him.

Judging by how Solomon struggles to tell the story to MC though, we can assume that it didn't end well.

Maybe Barbatos refused to save his friend/had no way to do it ( he can only travel through timelines and not actually go back and change the one where he is ) and Solomon had to accept the fact that they were dying and say goodbye and this was the moment when he made this promise to them to become a good sorcerer, learn how to control his powers and protect humanity.

Or maybe Barbatos did try to save them/told Solomon how to do it but it ended badly somehow and that's what brings Solomon pain when he tries to talk about it.

Idk Moon dealt with it just fine having Lunar, Moon's had sun before and its not like hes in pain with either Lunar or KC in his head (especially after the deal he and KC has. Which would have to be thought about cause Lunar would be involved) Also i dont get the next question too well. Moon doesnt erase KC, in canon he tried removing the killcode and leavin it in Sun (which made eclipse), but its so rooted in his code that he couldnt get rid of it (thus it resurfacing and becoming sentient aka Killcode). The next instance of KC being discussed on removal was debated because it could break Moon/Reset him (which it did in canon). With Lunar in this au now still in Moon's head they'd aim to remove Lunar first if they still were going with that plan (and we know Getting lunar out isnt as consequential). Its more of a matter of; If Lunar will go with this plan, Killcode honestly would probably advocate for Lunar getting his own body too (it'd give him more time to do the things he needs to... also properly hold son), other events either being altered or like canon (eclipse in the computer, solar flare existing, Bloodmoon dying by suns hand, KC turning good etc). I doubt Moon and later KC would want Lunar being erased at all in effort to seperate. ...Thatd be so funny (and tragic) if KC demanded Eclipse to make Lunar a new body or soemthing.

I’ll say it with my whole chest: that entire blog is a joke and an excuse for insecure, mean spirited people to harp on others. I blocked the entire page basically right at the beginning when I started seeing it pop up in my feed, but from what I gathered when my attention was dragged there by the anons in my own inbox, it’s full of people who:

A. Hate the game and all the characters

B. Are jealous of other creators and their success

C. Are too lazy to write their own stories yet have the gall to criticize other writers’ work

The fucking audacity to make a blog like that and defend the blatant bullying with “well we’re allowed to dislike things and have our own opinions” is so unbelievably lazy it’s not even funny. Nevermind the fact that there’s nothing anonymous about half the asks there— I could clearly tell who certain asks were referring to. I‘m one of the people that assumes Shadow didn‘t automatically gain Link‘s memories and skills upon his creation. This sometimes presents me with a dilemma like: When did he learn how to speak and understand hylian? Did Ganon teach him, since Vaati wasn‘t freed until Zelda‘s kidnapping? If so, then that‘s just another hint towards the interpretation of them as father and son. If he didn‘t because he might not care to, then how did Shadow learn?

We know that through the mirror, other places can be watched. As such, picture this: Shadow watching Link inside the mirror and trying to imitate the sounds he hears, because he knows they have meaning, but unlike his original, he doesn‘t know how to make use of it. It‘s yet another flaw in him, to be incapable of something so fundamental as language. So, as a being not requiring sleep or food, he simply sits in front of that piece of glass day in, day out,and makes carefully crafted but ultimately incorrect sounds, trying to catch up in a race Link doesn‘t even know of.

And it just gets sadder the later you think Shadow was created, like if he‘s existed for a few years by the time the manga takes place, then I‘d think it‘s as familiar to him as it is to anybody. But if he‘s younger than that, then just how might he feel if he has to meet that picture-perfect heroic counterpart of his and he himself barely knows how to speak? (Obviously, he does, but canon divergence territory ig.)

A Recipe for Grief

With shaky hands he crushes the chunks of still-too-cold butter into the sugar, impatient for the taste of it. It’s a gift, his mom’s chocolate chip cookie recipe that has no recipe. He can’t write it down, it’s made of handfuls and feelings. It tastes just right. Tastes just like the memories of tall kitchen counters and the smell of cheap vanilla extract. Of the excitement of creation, and the sweet reward of the work.

His mom is still here, in the other room. But today he’s letting the grief creep in as he mashes a fork through the slowly melting butter. He knows he doesn’t have the memory like her, to keep this recipe alive. He knows he has no one to pass it down to, no one to teach by showing the handfuls and speaking the feelings. He knows there isn’t a lot of time before she can’t correct his mistakes with it anymore.

The words “pregame grief” pop into his head, and he laughs a little as he cracks the eggs. His whole life has been pregame grief, one batch of cookies at a time. He knew what the threat of death was when he was five, knew there was an inevitable end to the familiar. To the safe and comfort of old, green sweaters and chocolate chip cookies. Predictable as the sliver of eggshell that always makes its way into the dough.

Maybe it’s a gift. Learning early on that that one and only person could be gone at any moment. Maybe it steadies the hands when you get the news that the end is predictable, written down like everyone else’s recipes. Maybe it keeps you up at night, trying to find ways to re-write the measurements. Ways to avoid burning when you have to bake them. Trying to find ways to let it go, and let the science and time do their work.

But letting it go is hard. Measuring with your heart when your brain tells you that’s too many chocolate chips. Letting go says the whole bag, why not? Life is short. Life is short, but it’s coming together now and forming something cohesive. The wet and the dry. The whole bag of chips, she says from the other room. It’s a gift.
