Lucy makes an appointment at the doctor’s to confirm she is indeed pregnant. It does feel a little weird doing it without Tim. Especially since she found out she was pregnant with Ava alone. But she wants to surprise Tim and Ava. She is told she is around 6 weeks along and then given some images. She has a plan all in motion and she can’t wait to see it play out.

She orders a Big Sister shirt for Ava from Amazon and sneaks it in so Tim doesn’t see.

She has the day off but Tim doesn’t. He rolls over and kisses her on the shoulder, whispering I love you into her skin. He leaves the room as quietly as possible and she knows his next stop is Ava’s room. She sits up and looks at the baby monitor and watches as Tim lifts Ava out of her crib, and sits down in the rocking chair. Ava rests her head on his shoulder as he rocks back and forth it. Her hand goes to her stomach where their second baby grows, she can’t wait to see Tim with their second baby. He loves Ava so much and she knows both their hearts will only grow bigger with a second child.

She watches as Tim kisses the top of Ava’s head and then he stands up with her and leaves her room, seconds later he’s back in their bedroom. Ava’s head is still on Tim’s shoulder. He brings her over and hands her to Lucy. Ava instantly lays down on Lucy’s chest much like she did when she was a baby.

Tim kisses her again and then he’s walking out the door once again.

Lucy smiles as she rubs Ava’s back, her daughter makes a soft noise and curls more into her chest. She kisses the top of her head, and Ava sleeps not knowing that her life is about to change for the better.

Lucy lets Ava sleep for a little bit longer and then she’s gently shaking her awake. Ava looks up at her blearily. “Hey baby do you want to surprise daddy at work today?” She asks. Ava perks up immediately.

“Yes!” She squeals and Lucy laughs as she lowers her to the ground.

“Okay let’s go get ready then!” She says and Ava is running out of the room. Lucy smiles as they go to her room to change out of her pajamas. She pulls out the big sister shirt and slips it on Ava with little leggings to match. And then puts her hair into pigtails.

“All right Aves.” She says. “Let’s go eat.” She leads Ava downstairs and sets her I. Her chair and gets her some cereal.

Her plan is to bring Tim some lunch and surprise him with Ava in the big sister shirt. She just hopes he’s actually at the station. After Ava is done eating she gives her the tablet and turns on Bluey for her. And then she anxiously cleans up the kitchen and the house. She bounces around Ava who is watching the show intently not even glancing up at Lucy.

Finally it’s close enough to lunch time and Lucy grabs Ava and they go to Tim’s favorite taco food truck and order lunch. Once Lucy has the food in her hands, they make their way to the station. Ava runs of course to Angela who spots her shirt immediately but Lucy cuts off before she can say anything.

“It’s a surprise.” She says. Ava looks at Lucy curiously, her blue eyes wide as she looks up at Lucy who has to bite her tongue from blurting it out.

“Surprise?” She asks. Angela swoops down to pick her up and Ava giggles as she hugs her godmother.

Angela puts Ava down and Lucy grabs her hand pulling her with her to Tim’s office. She bites her lips hoping that he is here. Lucy knocks and Tim’s voice rings out immediately. Lucy opens the door and Ava runs in before Lucy can stop her.

“Daddy!” She squeals launching herself into his arms. Tim stands up and catches her and then looks down at her shirt and freezes.

“Luce.” He says his voice a little unsteady. “Is this—?” Lucy nods and heads over to him and Ava.

Tim’s face shows a hundred different emotions as he stares at Ava’s shirt. “Oh my god.” He whispers. Ava looks between them the curious look back on her face.

“What daddy?” She asks. Tim hugs her closer and nods at Lucy.

“Hey Aves remember how you said you wanted a baby brother or sister?” Lucy asks.

Ava nods her head, her pigtails bouncing. “Well you are going to be a big sister Ava. Mommy has a baby growing in her belly.”

Ava’s eyes widen and she looks between her parents before she squeals and claps her hands. “Baby! Baby!” She says excitedly kicking her feet. Lucy laughs and Tim reaches for her so they are all in a huddle.

“We are having another baby!” Says Tim and Lucy kisses his cheek gently and then kisses Ava’s. She remembers vividly when she told Tim about Ava and how it was the three of them.

i've always been a huge fan of small/indie animations on YT ever since around 2012 (yes the SMILE HD and CUPCAKES times) cause i loved how people can just go crazy with their animations without the fear of large company restrictions (i think this is actually a huge portion why i found anination memes so interesting tbh)

not only that, but i also find it very inspiring to have animators to just...do things without any big corperations help

like, i myself has actually been cooking up something big that will be demonitized instently (cause...copyright) but it could be made with my paterons supproting me

imagine this but with a bigger scale.

thanks to the indie animators that came before (and ofcorse those who support me), making a animation series from scretch/longer animations don't seem like such a far off goal now 🥹

something i've been thinking about a lot (besides how unhinged i am for picking apart the Twilight saga again) is the ineffective use of words in Eclipse.

take a look at this honking nugget of text

don't me wrong. i appreciate that it 1) illustrates Bella doing normal stuff, 2) gives us an intimate peek into her personality (stubbornly arranging fridge magnets? questioning one's neurodivergency? cool!), 3) throws in a bit of Bella-style humor, 4) talks about magnets, & 5) gives us a metaphor, however redundant

what i dislike is:

the redundant metaphor. look, i'm a sucker for metaphors (however redundant), but at this point we're a few chapters into Eclipse. Bella's narration and concrete examples tell us Jacob & Edward cannot coexist. the metaphor is as redundant as my mentioning my love of metaphors, redundant or otherwise.

the technicality of the writing. i.e., the hulking parenthetical between the em dashes. "round black utilitarian pieces that were my favorites bec—" that alone takes FORTY-TWO WORDS. nearly 20% of a 226-word metaphor for Jacob & Edward describes fucking magnets. i love magnets too, but damn, girl. stop

the emptiness of the text. 226 words, who cares, right? fluff is part of the saga's charm. yes. but! it's now book 3. we're knee deep in a thematic discussion about humanity & juggling several sideplots. for every 226 words we spend watching Bella push magnets together, we have 226 fewer words to spend developing relationships with Bella's vamp fam or her wolfpack pals. that's 226 words we won't spend fleshing out plots, tying up conflict from New Moon, or setting up Breaking Dawn. are the 226 words useless? no. but do we not already have a sense of the conflict & what's at stake here? can't we be fluffy and economical?

if this was a one-time deal, i would say yes, bring on the fucking magnets (& metaphors). but superfluous text is not an anomaly

this ends chapter 11. instead of hooking the reader to turn the page, Bella tells us which words we're meant to notice, her reaction, then dismisses said reaction.

the broader issue: despite the cool lil rabbit holes to explore in Eclipse, Bella insists on holding our hand for all of them. explaining (& dismissing?) every observation limits our scope & makes the book unsatisfying. Bella can (should!) notice lil details, but making readers draw their own conclusions gives them the freedom to explore the book in new ways & gives Bella the freedom to show us more story

but this worsens as the book continues. don't even get me started on the ~4,250 words smeyer takes to appropriate the history of a real tribe. it is meant to add lore to shapeshifting & give Bella an idea for saving Edward later on in the novel. in doing so it perpetuates racist tropes & stereotypes about certain American tribes.

point is, these words add up. the fluff becomes cloying for how much remains unresolved. it gives us too few opportunities to explore & draw our own conclusions. the overall message becomes muddled because there's too much nothing being said. anything of importance that is being said is repeated over & over.

this ineffective use of writing makes me feel like we're desperately clinging to the "normal yet ✨️supernatural✨️" vibes of Twilight while refusing to acknowledge that this series has become bigger than a simple "girl meets vampire, love ensues" pseudo-fairytale.

that is (one of) my problem(s) with Eclipse.

Buckle up because this might be a long ride :)

So, let's first establish the basic context of this whole AU; such as background info on what in the actual fresh hell is going on here.

First things first: this AU just kind of co-exists on the sidelines of canon tf2 with its own separate story happening while the OG mercs are off following canon at the same time in New Mexico and stuff. So technically, they both are in the same universe, just, from entirely different perspectives. I guess we can’t even call this an AU at this point but shhhh, we like having fun here.

Okay, so now that we’re clear with that let’s hop onto the actual story of ✨️ ze switcheroo mercs✨️:

BASICALLY, the 'mercs are actually all clones' theory is very much a real thing in my world. Except that the canon RED mercs are the “original mercs”, and literally everybody else are just clones.

Multiple cloned teams of the "original mercs" are scattered worldwide, and the job switcheroo mercs are one of them! Every single cloned teams are controlled by the one and only, you guessed it: Administrator. RED and BLU basically run a massive international chain company at this point, but like, with clones that fight each other to death.

The job switched mercs are one of the few cloned teams that have the least physical differences from the OGs they are supposed to doppelgang, which is surprisingly rarer than you’d expect. Ironically enough, clones rarely ever look exactly the same as the "originals" because of gene mutations (don't trust me on this, I'm not a science person at all), and more often than not a clone is going to pop out blond instead of brunette- or tall instead of short.

PERSONALITY HOWEVER, is a whole different story. My version of clones are "born" with a blank slate for a mind, with only the bare necessary knowledge for, ya know, living (i.e. how to eat, how to speak, how to do their job, yada yada you get the gist). All memories and pasts of the "originals" are wiped clean and you've got yourself a fancy new clone, yayyy.

So because of the obvious lack of everything inside the clones' minds, clones often don't have the same personality as the "originals", and sometimes even differ completely. It's up for them to build experience and form their own identity (as long as they don't end up revolting against Admin or anything, but that's never happened before so it should be okay).

The job switcheroo mercs have been stationed at a base in bumfuck nowhere (think of any country to slap em onto) with another cloned BLU team for approximately 3 2 years now; and all members of each team have formed their own entirely unique identities by now, and guess what that means! They're starting to have thoughts!

In the beginning, no one really cared about the jobs they were assigned with as a clone, but as the years grew they started thinking: “Hey, how about no [breaks the social norms]”. Everyone eventually realized that no one was happy with the jobs they were initially given, so they said fuck you to the system and started passing around their classes like a hot potato to see what sticks. By the end of this whole ordeal, everyone had tried everyone else’s job at least once before they eventually found the one they were satisfied with. TADA, ✨️the job switcheroo mercs were born✨️

Admin didn’t really care about this whole thing because 1) they're technically still doing what they're supposed to be doing, just with different jobs now and 2) she had other, bigger things to worry about, and the most emotion this mini revolt drew from her was: “ew, Miss Pauling, they’re starting to have opinions”

greetings! i have made a thing! ✨️two✨️ things!

✨️ sketchboooooooooooks! ✨️

it took longer than anticipated (I've been trying to get this done since the end of last year, oops) but I finally finished putting these together today. all that's left to do is decorate the covers and start drawing in 'em!

they are slightly–moderately wonky and pretty clearly handmade, but I love them. gives em charm. these are only the second and third books I've made myself so I'm still learning.

if you're interested I'll drop a few more photos and babble a little about the process under the cut! (definitely not a tutorial if that's what you're hoping for lol i was winging it the whole time)

okay so we'll start with the little guy. this is meant to be more of a travel sketchbook.

I wanted something fairly small that I could take on the go without it being too much of a hassle, because I'm also hoping to get out more and like... go for walks to the park or the cemetery or w/e and try doing some studies and life drawing and such. or just get some fresh air and doodle while I make a valiant attempt to get some vitamin D.

THE PROCESS

both sketchbooks are made out of materials I just had lying around, but this one is even more "recycled" lmao

i took the inside pages from an old sketchbook, and about half of them had previously been used, so I went and erased my old sketches as much as I could (they were bad and low effort, so it's no loss I assure you) and that was a boring and frustrating endeavor but it was worth it because, well, I get to use the paper again! I did a very poor job the first time around, I almost never drew on both sides of the page and so many pages were just one shitty sketch and nothing else 🙈

i sorted the pages into signatures (tried to mix up the used and new paper because it'd annoy me if I had just like one big chunk of ghost drawings and then the rest of the book was good and clean lol) and stitched those together and then put just a couple layers of glue on the spine to hold it together.

I made the cover by gluing two pieces of thin cardboard together for each part (front cover, back cover, spine) to make em sturdier, and then I trimmed them down to size and glued the pieces to a paper shopping bag. I didn't have the patience to try flattening the cover under a heavy book or anything, so it's a little warped and will kind of open up on its own so I'm just using the binder clip to hold it closed. plus idk it looks cool!

once the cover was done and dry I just... glued it all together! added the end pages i cut out of construction paper to the.. chunk of book? the book brick? (is there a technical word for it when the signatures are all together....?) and then glued the other sides of the end pages to the inside covers.

now for the second book! the big boy!

this fella was intended to be the grand, improved follow-up to the first sketchbook I put together, and I started working on it right when said first book started running out of paper.

this one is the wonkier of the two but I think it's definitely a few steps up from the original, and I'm pleased with it. this is gonna be my everyday sketchbook, so I wanted it to have a ton of pages so I can use it for a good long while. I think it's at least twice as thick as my first sketchbook. 😂

THE PROCESS

...basically the same as the travel sketchbook, just bigger! the pages are sourced from a different sketchbook, one I started using in high school and promptly forgot about upon graduation.

fun fact: the end pages are covered in countless tiny little hatch lines that i drew by hand while I watched/listened to something on my computer. I don't quite remember what I was watching at this point, but it was almost certainly something from Starkid... probably VHSCC on repeat, since I did this part back in november/december. it might sound tedious but I shit you not I was thrilled to do this part and it was just a blissful neurodivergent turn the brain off and vibe kind of time.

the biggest difference in this process was doing the cover; it's not cardboard, it's some kind of particle board.. thing that was salvaged from the back of a busted picture frame. it is VERY stiff and sturdy and I did not cut the pieces out so much as score the board with my box cutter as deeply as I could, bend it back and forth, and pray it didn't break. 😅 the cover-cover is from the same bag I used on the smaller book!

most of the wonkiness comes from the fact that the cover is sliiiiiiiightly too small for the book brick inside. I had limited material for the cover so I couldn't stretch that at all, I made the cover as big as I possibly could, but I also did not feel like trimming the inside pages so that they would fit better because that would have taken FOREVER and also probably killed me. 😫 soooo the pages stick out a little bit, but that's fine and it doesn't bother me much. 🤷🏻‍♂️

and that's my two sketchbooks! finished em both up over 3 days after procrastinating for at least a month. and now that they exist I can finally draw again!!! been wanting to do that for WEEKS.

As first post I decided to share a Stranger Things theory about: Vecna and what he did to the characters that died throughout the seasons.

WHAT IF...

✨️Vecna didn't actually kill those characters✨️

What I mean is, there could be a possibility that Vecna didn't kill them but just took them with him in the upside-down so that he could use 'em for something bigger he's planning for the final battle of S5.

Just like he did with the Mind Flayer, he used people to form his monster but those people could still snap out of it, like Billy did before sacrificing himself.

So, basically, I'm saying that Vecna could be using his victims (wich are all those characters that got killed by creatures from the upside-down or by Vecna himself; Barbara, Bob, Billy, Chrissy, Fred, Patrick, Eddie and eventually Max) to create another monster, stronger and way worse than his first ones.

If that's the case, there could still be a possibility to save all of them since they'll probably be possessed or mind controlled by 001, so they can still come back by snapping out of it like Billy did thanks to Eleven against the Mind Flayer in S3.

Here's my theory, or at least what my brain has been able to

One of my friends ( my physics teacher from 10th grade) give me amazing ideas and tips so I'm going to share her wisdom

- anything that can be eaten or in any way put in their mouths ABSOLUTELY has to be kids safe and any chemicals for cleaning should ABSOLUTELY be in the teachers bag when they leave the classroom.

- if a student doesn't respond or behave as an adult try and talk to them in a way they will understand and find a way to keep him in line ( even if it means giving them their phone)

- students not listening or studying is NOT your fault, they will regret it not you.

-sometimes a student thinks they are to "grow up" and maybe they just want to be seen as one of the adults give them the chance to talk to you about anything and if you are comfortable let them use your first name. (ONLY IN YOUR CLASSROOM AND IF YOU REALLY BELIEVE IN THEM)

I have one story that always helps me see my students as kids first and students second; I had one little girl that was a bigger brat than me so she didn't do anything i told her. She was actively hating me and even made a point to fucking piss in the middle of the room so i will have to clean it, but she was always looking at my nails with this strange look on her face, so one day on lunch break i got up and bought all of the little girls press on nails (for kids). When I got back I asked her to choose first, she did, and from that point on she was like my shadow. Students are just these little people who we have to guide in this magical and big adventure of becoming an adults.

Have you tried to reward good behavior??? Maybe with food or phone breaks??

I honestly think it's the best way to sometimes keep them in check; maybe sticker charts or if they do something bad, take points and if the class has a total of some points taken, make them clean and if they were good, make a party for them. Hope it makes sense and don't forget I'm a preschool teacher so my problems are solved with pink glitter and cartoon characters in sticker form.🤣🤣✨️

Oh absolutely lol; unfortunately, my school has a really strict no phone policy, so that's out for me. Usually, I'm very patient and understanding, but it's end of the year fatigue for all of us so it's just... insane at the moment, lol. I've only got four more days of teaching, and then I'm off for the year! I'll be able to get into a more solid writing rhythm again, yay!

Our Department of Education has recently also cracked down on the use of 'external rewards' i.e. food, because they reckon that it motivates students to behave to receive a reward than for any innate desire to behave for the sake of it. Like, I get that, but it narrows our options down pretty fucking far. I've had to resort to giving House points (like Harry Potter), which isn't a tangible reward BUT a sort of compromise, as parents are notified for House points earned (which, for my teens who are frequently in trouble, is an AWESOME way to try and wiggle out of that trouble at home lol). As we're getting to the end, though, this has stopped working. I'll be alright, though - I'm pretty good with behaviour management, it's just that with so many staff off (which usually happens toward the end of term as staff call out 'sick') all my free periods are being assigned relief, so I have literally no breaks in my work day. And I'm usually assigned difficult classes because I have such great relationships with the problematic kids, which in itself is great but is just getting EXHAUSTING day-in and day-out with no reprieve. Still - four more days. Four more days. Gotta keep telling myself that!
