Something I haven’t heard anyone mention about episode 3 is that Clarisse was also eligible to be on the quest. Like, the director made a very conscious choice to show her and only her in the same frame as Annabeth when Percy chose her. If Percy wanted someone he thought he’d never be friends with, it would make sense for him to chose Clarisse. I think the only reason he chose Annabeth over her is because Clarisse seemed way more likely to betray him, friend or not. Like he thought he and Annabeth would never be friends, but he knew that it would be so much worse if Clarisse was there.

once again, not shifting related, but see, i have a lot of things that come along with autism and ADHD, and the like, but i’m still prettyyy damn sure i don’t have em, but also maaaybe, buuut alsooo i don’t knoooow. i have hyperfixations, special interests, the verbal shutdowns, shutdowns in general, meltdowns, also executive dysfunction, neurodivergent stimming (plus some that can pass as neurotypical stimming), and lots more that i can’t remember at the moment, cuz i haven’t eaten enough, OH YEAH AND SENSORY PROCESSING DISORDER, annnd auditory processing disorder, also internalized echolalia and just echolalia, possibly alexithymia, and have trouble with social cues and eye contact. plus food allergies which is also common/comorbid with autism. plus also i was what ya call the gifted kid and now i’m burnt out and even though my grades are always good when i actually hand something in, i constantly procrastinate and have basically given up on school altogether, cuz there’s no possible way for my mental health to be okay, for me to have relationships, for me to do things i like, and do well and be consistent in school all at the same time.

soooo, what am i? i relate to autistics and ADHDers A TON. buuuut i don’t think i am one of y’all. buuut what else can i possibly be? i have no idea. i am a mystery and i pretty sure i always will be.

But I think I mentally shelved it under World Event. Whatever, we’ll see when we get there, but World Event should also be sometime soon

Nightmares

There was no comfort in the shadows. It pressed down all around them, clinging to their skin and sinking into their eyes. They were trapped in liquid black. The darkness took shapes in the corners of their vision, twisting into smiling faces and blinding teeth.

Faces that looked like–

Whumpee squeezed their eyes shut, curling up tightly under the blankets. They buried themselves under the soft fabrics. Hoping for even the smallest bit of comfort, instead they found a grave. Instead of earth choking them, it was cotton. Cotton in their mouth and working its way inside them, stitching its way through their veins. Numbing, comforting, horrifying.

The darkness was waiting for them under the blankets too. A scream built up in their throat. The faces were back.

Oh god please. Not again. Not again–

They couldn’t take it anymore.

Screaming isn’t allowed.

The faces had voices now. Voices and hands and cruel laughter— they hadn’t done anything wrong? Had they?

They had. That's why the voices were back. They’d messed up, they’d messed up, they’d messed up.

“Did you actually think you could escape us?”
