but for now - imagining bepo surprising even himself that he is doing a good job enduring pain and that reacting with steel determination came so naturally - surprised but only because its the first time they ended up in a situation like that! stupid alliance with too many unknown variables - if it was up to their captain taking the lead this would never happen....but for his honor theyll endure.

i love how bepo is only cute around law and in any other situation hes very much a proper pirate....he had some choice words to say to his captors i have no doubt

in my head you know that law is so cool and bepo is so undemanding - law will be so calm about taking care of bepo, not visibly upset (he doesnt want to worry bepo, especially then when bepo is safe with him) just Peak Rational tending calmly to bepos wounds. he is weighting in his options of how to praise him...law is very grateful that him just being Strong (and cool) is what brings bepo happiness and comfort so he doesnt even have to go out of his way to do anything for him...they just work when they are together

its nuts that hawkins probably saw the MOST of laws reaction (penshachi too) - when they all were in the immediate danger (but especially bepo) after the fact (and even when he comes out of his cell) law is collected.

they are so precious about each other they are both thinking "im ashamed i ended up in the situation and made you worry/im ashamed i couldnt prevent it and you got hurt, you are my responsibility" so instead of saying these things out loud - they both know how the other is feeling - they do their best to move on asap.

and so he will be when treating bepo and caressing him, say he is checking if anything is broken (he has Scan for that) and smiles so soft and loving when bepo giggles after a ticklish spot gets stroked...

Bepo melting in his hands as usual (as usual!!!!!❤️❤️❤️❤️❤️) its the most wonderful thing in the world and makes them both forget that anything bad ever happened

nobita's classmates

so i got bored and made a relationship chart between the classmates (drawn in a very confusing chart) (yeah i got lazy and decided to just not draw the male classmates lol) this is all just my interpretation, of course. additional infos added below the tab, i referenced some manga but without citation bcs im away from home and could not provide the panels/ story i meant. hopefully it's not too out of pocket, and i probably remembered wrong but yeaaaaa this is how i view their relationshipss lollll

okay so to start

somone alrd pointed out how shizuka is the closest with gian and suneo and not with nobita, and i agree wholeheartedly! Shizuka is an active child, liking sports, only restraining herself bcs she's a girl and she's supposed to be "prim and proper". once she became a boy (switching bodies with nobita) (gadget that reverse gender roles) she became very active and able to play baseball, climb a tall tree like gian and suneo, and she excels in all. even in girl form, she still maintained being active by playing badminton and can compare to gian's ability in it. the three of them would often leave nobita behind bcs of his lack of ability to join in, whether in swimming, riding a bike, even riding a 'horse.' so yeahh i do think she probably had more fun with the other two compared to with nobita.

other than that, i also thinks she probably has the most friend in her class. i do think she's the only one that was able to know dekisugi the closest and the best, compared to other kids. other than being friends with gian, suneo, dekisugi, and nobita, she's also on a friendly basis with the other girls in her class (5 named girls in her class + musuko) and occasionally would hang out/ play with them. while gian, suneo, and nobita are also friends with their guy classmates, from what i've seen and felt in the anime, they're not as tight-knitted as the girls (only haruo and yasuo being the most used boy classmate NPCs), added they sometimes antagonized each other and their friendly behavior can be just a facade (mainly when they fear gian).

With gian and suneo's relationship, i do feel like it's a ride or die. for bestfriends/ partner in crime, they can still be mean to each other. gian would still constantly be violent towards him, and suneo would mock him on his intelligence/ look/ wealth. many stories where they ended up on opposing sides, fighting against each other, but somehow they tolerate and stick with one another. they can be friends, soulmates, partners, enemies, bestfriends. honestly wouldnt be surprised if they just started going out with one another or even ended up in domestic partnership. they're just inseparable.

compared to shizuka who has many friends, i think dekisugi is the opposite. true, everyone in class admired his abilities. but that's it. other than shizuka and nobita (begrudgingly bcs shizuka asked), no one really cares to look out for him when he's troubled by late night calls terrorizing him. then again, maybe it's mostly bcs of dekisugi himself. he's rarely seen playing with the other kids. in fact, in the canon manga, the only time he's there with the other kids and everyone had fun can be counted (the living rope that could turn into things, the ultra dora movie, observing underground ants, the straw rocket, nobita making underground country although this one ended up with nobita being a dictator). in manga, he's even rarely seen in gian's concert, and some speculate gian thought of him as a busy guy and respected him. But honestly, i think gian just forgot to invite him. Im sure dekisugi knows abt how big of a bully gian is, even tho dekisugi sometimes would defend nobita when gian bully him. In gian's dinner show, dekisugi had shown concern over getting hit by gian, so i dont think gian "respect" him in that way. one time he got invited to play baseball with the giants and he aced it all, only to leave gian, suneo, and nobita pissed and jealous by how good he is. this might also be a factor, but dekisugi himself never really bothered to butt in or familiarize himself with his other classmates, other than shizuka, who he felt like can be allowed in topics he's interested in. he even opted for having foreign friends or writing pals instead of getting close with the other kids. of course foreign friends can be as important as classmates friends, but sometimes it can be isolating, since you'll get absorbed with other type of activities and didn't even try to maintain real life relationships. whether it's bcs of the classmates that felt intimidated to talk to dekisugi bcs they feel he's too smart or it's dekisugi himself who didn't even bother to interject his self in class, i'm still not sure yet. i think both are contributing factors.

Nobita is part of the close group, made of gian, suneo, and shizuka. Gian and suneo would often tease him and shizuka would sometimes laugh or even defend him. They're their own circle in the class. but honestly, i think that's all thanks to doraemon. if doraemon did not arrive from the future, i do think nobita would be some social outcast, kinda like dekisugi, but the class just literally forgot he existed, since he's such a boring guy who has not many interests. He does not excel in academics nor athletics, his hobby is playing cats cradle and sleeping. In the first chapter, he spent the new years laying in his room reading comics, while his classmates were out in the streets playing. He originally has no interest in outdoor activities, therefore his classmates would probably not invite him to play. He's a passive guy, he rather stay quiet and away from danger, hence his classmates would probably forgot he exist. He cannot eat as quick as his friends and had trouble keeping attention in class and doing homeworks, he's literally made to be the butt of the class' joke "well i got low scores but at least not as bad as nobita" and nobita himself didn't realize how laid-back he's being and how he was wasting his reformative years, bcs that shit sticks until you're an adult. doraemon honestly is a god-send for him, and even if nobita somehow did not manage to marry shizuka, he still learned a lot of things with him. He was given an outlet to express his own creativity and explore new interests, and that made him a more interesting guy. He can play and found fun in playing outdoors with his classmates. He got close to shizuka, gian, and suneo. He got to fricking rewind time and met his grandma one more time and appreciate her more and make her proud. He was able to bring joy to his classmates thanks to doraemon's gadgets. if doraemon did not exist, nobita will be stuck alone, getting bullied and picked on in a serious manners by gian and suneo since he couldn't pick up after himself and he can only admire shizuka, who sometimes defended him, from afar. that's what i think

and that's all. again, this is just speculations. of course it can be read as something not serious (fujiko prob forgot dekisugi existed, drawing gian being violent is peak comedy, etc) but i think it's fun to interpret their dynamics, especially with dekisugi since he's not shown as often as the others (even jaiko had more appearance, i bet). but yea lol thankyou for reading these walls of texts haha

Do you have a set process for coloring and rendering / adding texture to your art? If so, would it be alright for me to ask what goes into that process? I'd love to learn how an artist I admire goes about their work!

Omg I'm so flattered, I'll try my best to explain it!! ^^

Tho, okayyy, I apologize beforehand for how incoherent this might be, since I don't really have a set process at all and mostly I fake it 'til i make it haha. I'm the first to admit that I don't have a ver consistent method and that shows in how irregular in quality my art can look, even inside the general sketchy look.

(Btw sorry if some of the fanart i use for example doesn't make you comfortable but I've tried to find the best examples for each type of coloring haha)

I'll start with the brushes I rely on the most, tho I admit i made the mistake of downloading too many brushes and textures so I might use others on rare occassions xddd

These are basically the brushes I use the most. The "mezclador redondo" is just CSP's default paintbrush and I only tweaked it to find sth I liked and felt comfortable with for both lining and painting

As you can see here I only used one layer for lines and other three for each of the guys' colors. I colored it all with the default brush (tho unfortunately I lost the settings I used for this drawing in particular and haven't found them again rip). In drawings like this I just do a sketch, clean the lines (no lineart) and then paint it. After the base color I start laying out different hues to make the coloring more interesting.

This one was the same. One layer for coloring, manually adding lighter hues (see the more light and yellowish color on grovyle's left leg compared to the shadow) or darker tones. I try to add color to the shadows as well to make them feel less flat, and an airbrush in overlay tends to help with that (tho here I just used a brush).

Here you can see that I often paint over the lines on another layer to correct mistakes in the "lineart" lol. I also applied an airbrush (layer mode overlay) over celebi to make her more bright. I wanted to put this one to show that coloring doesn't have to be detailed to look nice enough. Here Celebi basically has no shadows at all but the tone of the drawing makes her look cute anyways imo ^^

In these two you can see adjustements over the full image again (yellow layer), but I also wanted to show that I don't have a set number of layers either, it depends on how many I feel like using. Again, sorry for the lack of consistency but im too lazy to have a proper method lmao

I will also use harder brushes and tone changes sometimes, instead of blending them with less dense brushes. I am also fond of adding hard lighting in some drawings. You can experiments with it on a top layer and delete it if it doesn't fit, so it's always worth a try.

Another thing I recommend is studying and copying artists you admire or like. Add things from their styles into yours, see how they work with proportions and try to use that in your own art. It has helped me a lot and, without looking to fully copy anyone's style, it does give you some ideas of how you wish your drawing would look, which motivates me (when it doesn't depress me lol)

Finally, the texturing isn't consistent either. I use one of CSP's/Downloaded texture packs, put a grainy texture on the canvas, set it to overlay and adjust the opacity until I'm satisfied. In these two images you can see I am not consistent in coloring even in the same comic lmao. But we are doing this for fun, so I think experimentation is always sth worth exploring ^^

And I think that's all I have to say. I don't control color theory at all, so I can't really explain how I choose colors. I look up some tutorials on youtube and pretend I understand lol. Ig the one thing I tend to do a lot is changing hues in a base color to make it look less flat, the same as with shadows.

HELL YEAH DIFFERENT LOOKS WITH THE FOREIGN KIDS THAT’S WHY I DRAW PIP WITH HIS BURN SCARS & A TOOTH GAP IT MAKES THEM FEEL MORE REAL

YEAHHHH!!! I DRAW PIP WITH A TOOTH GAP TOO. now, since you mentioned differences once. I shall ramble.

Pip: For differences in teeth, I draw his canine teeth and he has a gap in between his two front teeth. He has never gone to a dentist, not even with the adoptive family I gave him. Small fun fact for you. Idk it’s fun. His differences in appearance: He has small bits of acne under his bangs, he has freckles along his face and body, and I’ve started to consider burns but I keep forgetting, sadly. I forget freckles a lot too, but SHHHH.

Damien: I have many MANY different kinds of teeth styles for him. Some with all sharp teeth, some with proper fangs, but they all involve braces. Because he would just loveeee braces (he hates them), he tries to break the brackets thinking it’ll make them go away faster, but that will only make them stay longer. His dentist hates him so much as he is rude and has tried to bite them. Appearance: His fingertips have faded ashy look, not burnt, they are just.. ash, because of his fire powers. He used to clean them but got too lazy. He doesn’t have any differences other than proper animal features, I like to think he has a goat tail when he gets older and has horns that he hides in his hair but that’s mainly it. Bags under his eyes, though born with it.

Gregory: He has had braces, which if is brought up he will have a full blown fit. He is a mint heavy guy, he has actually forced Christophe to have some of these mints, I will sometimes drawn his canine but that is rarely. Appearance: I don’t draw him with freckles (i forget), but I have mentioned that he has had freckles in roleplays! Only on his face. Gregory has small scars on his hands from past fights and injuries, he is prideful of them because he knows they tell a story without words.

Christophe: I.. love… his differences. I always love to draw his teeth. They are chipped, missing, and stained. I draw his canine as well, I believe they are sharper than average ones. His teeth are chipped from getting injured so often and getting rocks in the face while digging through holes. He has been forcibly made to brush his teeth countless times by his mother and Gregory. He hates the dentist so much that they have to hold him down and hold his mouth open or else he bites and tries to attack. Appearance: I haven’t drawn him with scars yet but he would have many from when he came back from being attacked and killed by the guard dogs. He would also have scars from other injuries, as I HC that everyday is a new injury, big or small. Christophe has a mole by his eye, haha im hilarious.. i added that feature and then remembered he is “The Mole” so. He also has acne from being so unclean, I like to believe that he forgets hygiene exists so he is often greasy and dirty, which causes the acne to show up. Bags under his eyes AND CHAPPED LIPS. HE GOES THROUGH IT.

Pocket: I haven’t discussed him much for appearance yet as at the time of making the teeth guide, I wasn’t much of a Pocket and Estella fan.. now look at me. I love them. He has his buck teeth ofc ofc, how would we ever forget that. I feel like his teeth are straight and pretty alright, and he uses his toothbrush way too hard. He probably brushes his teeth after every big meal and FLOSSES. Like a mad man. I like to think he has one chipped tooth from one random moment and that’s it. Appearance: Freckles dude, we love them. Freckles. He probably has small spots of acne as well, nothing that extreme.

Estella: She would have the straightest whitest teeth, perfect in every way and she would make sure of it. She brushes constantly and makes sure everything is spotless. I draw her canine teeth as well. Estella uses that expensive charcoal tooth paste or whatever that claims is better, but is probably the worst. Appearance: Again, she has no acne, no freckles, no scars. She doesn’t even have a bruise. Estella has a skincare routine, she has no freckles or scars. But has a birthmark on her ankle, but never shows it. She dislikes it as she feels it’s a wound on her perfect skin.

Rebecca: She has a gap between her teeth, which later on she gets braces so her teeth are perfect. She brushes a lot and flosses. I don’t draw her canine teeth all the time. Rebecca would grind her teeth at minute due to stress and worry, which ruins her teeth a great amount. Definitely a dentist’s favourite. Appearance: She has freckles, YES I FORGET I GET IT, on her face and body. She has acne around the sides of her face and on her nose, which she tries her best to hide and get rid of but nothing works. I like to think she also has sensitive skin, having to use special soap. She would have bags under her eyes,

Mark: He had/has braces and wears a retainer later on, not the invisible one. He got braces because of how many gaps he had between his teeth, his parents wanted his teeth to be perfect instead of gappy. He also takes good care of his teeth, similar to his sister. I don’t draw his canine teeth, so sad. Another dentist’s favourite. Appearance: I haven’t thought much on this, he probably has acne on his nose and chin, which he tries to clean and get rid of. He would have chapped lips as he dislikes the feeling of chapstick on his lips and feel bad about it. Mark would have bags under his eyes, like his sister. He has small scaring around his nails from picking at them out of nervousness and habit. He would also have sensitive skin and allergies that makes him have to have special soap.

i love to do a new big reference piece for my babies every few years, and the time has finally come due… and WOW !!! LOOK AT THAT IMPROVEMENT !!! everyone looks Normal And Alive and Non Bugeyed !!! everyone is a little less pasty white (im talking about you, tanith) !!! i think they all show a lil bit of nice personality in their faces now too which is lovely for me. i love to see my children happy. now to write about each of them

angelo’s line art has the least effort into it here and i was GONNA redraw him but honestly if anyone is going to look like a scrunkly little bug IT IS GOING TO BE HIM !!!!!! It’s been a minute since i’ve drawn his body-saws and on a whim i made them red AND !!! IT WORKS !!! I’M A FAN !!! i think he’s due for a main-outfit change though. not sure. i struggled with finding him a natural-looking skin color too because i’ve slowly made him as a person less undead-corpse-like and i think i’ve found a good spot. for now.

i pulled the perfect angora out of my mind and honestly i am shocked at what i have created. she looks so sweet and kind and innocent here (as she should) that to any unfamiliar observers you’d be hard pressed to tell she’s a big lazy gross vulgar piece of shit rat of a fishwoman. and that is EXACTLY how it should be. i have lost the plot for too long, giving her more sharp edges and a hunched back and wild expressions, but the standard angora really should be deceptively pretty. because that’s my girl.

Mila looks great as always. What more can I say? She’s always perfect. I had fun giving her lips for the first time!

I chose to draw him in his naga/incarnated form instead of the shadow form this time because i wasn’t lazy. I decided to throw a big coat on him, originally intended to be more lab coat-y, but influenced by how fucking cold it is outside i allowed myself to give him a big fur collared one. because if you can’t tell i love giving characters though. i think it worked out well for AMPH here, and now I have to be putting him in all sorts of cowls and capes until the end of time.

speaking of “best ive ever drawn any of them” somnus … THIS IS HIM … i’ve gotten close to capturing him in all the times i’ve drawn him but i think i’ve finally pinned him down here. and of course, he’s hitting the same pose as his wife because they’re cute like that. i ripped his colors straight from the solo reference piece i made for him a while back which has held up quite wonderfully.

FINALLY !!! SETH IS HERE !!! HE HAS ARRIVED IN PROPER INSIDERS GROUP ART !!! he looks pretty good here. i think he could still look BETTER, but for the purpose of having a nice group reference piece he looks pretty great i think. I struggled pinning down some colors for his clothes and was pretty lazy with the Purple Under His Hair That Glows BUT WHO CARES !!!! LOOKS GOOD TO ME !!! LOOK AT MY HANDSOME SON !!! i also decided to stick his full name on here that i’ve kept vaulted up for the reason that i’ve never had to put it anywhere before. if you know why he has “-zoe adamiel” as his chosen full name, congrats, you’re a huge fucking nerd.

eventually, i’m probably going to tack daisy, kane, sampi and demiurge onto the right side of this piece, but that’s for another day down the line. thanks for reading!
