game too big and empty? make it TWICE as big, change barely anything about the map of the previous title and the new added map(s) is ONE biom that almost everywhere looks the same and even emptier with little to do

too many krogs? MAKE IT MORE and double down on the literally shit reward bc its the SAME just with one more stack of shit

too many shrines with short puzzles? ADD EVEN MORE and make them even shorter and easier to complete, alot of them not even involving a puzzle and multiple being an utterly out of place tutorial that could have been explained to you in a single text box

rewards in the overworld being mostly either a krog or a shrine which gets repetetive with shrines being ALOT and krogs being wayyy too many? add even MORE shrines and EVEN MORE krogs, but now add over a hundred of caves to it that all get repetetive after just a few of them and you only do them for a shrine or a currency you have to collect to get one cool looking but pretty bad to use armor set and a piece of cloth for your parasail that you can only use one of at the tiem and to switch have to go back to a specific NPC, theres ghost lights to collect which only serve to yet again buy one armor set from a set of NPCs and ar meaningless afterwards, the light roots dont require you to do anything but walk to them and the reward for finding them all is a "you did it" sticker that doesnt even stick (its useless)

weapons break too quickly? well make the weapons you can find even worse to force you to fuse a material to it so its at all usable BUT IT STILL BREAKS and when it does it breaks not JUST the weapon but ALSO a material, materials that you will need for now EVEN MORE EXPENSIVE armor upgrades too, weapons cannot be rewards anymore either bc they will always have to be fused with something to make them stronger bc none is strong on its own- this also applies to THE MASTERSWORD, something ALSO complained about that it still 'breaks' even after empowering it through the DLC in botw, and now it cant even BE empowered (bc no DLC) unless you fuse soemthing to it (to. the. MASTERSWORD.) EVEN THO EMPOWERIGN THE MASTERSWORD IS THE ENTIRE POINT OF ZELDAS ULTIMATELY MEANING- AND CONSEQUENCELESS SACRIFICE !!

the dungeons were to samey and simple? make them look different but keep the core structure (activate terminals in completely seperate from each other "puzzles", fight boss) while also makign them be even more skippable (climable walls, the ceiling jump ability- something the titans DIDNT have) with incredibly easy bossfights that end with an embarassing copy and paste scene that hits you over the head with long known and obvious information over and over

people didnt like how the story was so detached from everything in the present? well, make the story and the present EVEN MORE detached from anything in the present, so far in fact that there is literally no connection to it aside from zelda who is the only connective thread and is also only treated as such (she is as personality lacking as sonia as soon as shes yoinked into the past) and the suddendly and out of nowhere intruduced architecture and history that wasnt a thing in botw but is treated like it was always there

people didnt like how far botw was detached from all other zelda games? ok totk is not only FURTHER detached from those it also completely detached itself from its on predecessor :)

people didnt like the memory system? ok make it WORSE then, its a linear story now that you can ruin by seeing even one out of order, they are super short and dont give you anymore context to anythign than the things you could figure out yourself or were already told really, instead of giving you views into a characters personality you get to view a basic plot summary of a story that is so flavorless and predictable i knew what would happen from the start yet acts like its being vague and cool that i felt like i was beign treated like a literal toddler

too few enemy types? well, we will reuse the old ones EVEN MORE thant before over twice the map and the new ones that are there are either utterlly irrelevant to change up the gameplay or largely feel like the old ones just with a paint job (constructs), the griocks looked cool at first but are just a more annyoing version of the lynels (who feel like an actual duel, akin to a proper boss)

even the things that were adressed, or attempted to, didnt fully work, like the bosses ARE more unique, but also still so incredibly easy and ALSO have multiple duplicats just sitting around in the underground despite them being supposedly the root of the problems of the regions (i like refighting bosses, but id rather have a character that lets me choose ok i wann fight this one again and teleporte me into a vision or sth- also the most fun fights arent even part of it (koga) )

the rain complaint got a new effect type to counteract it, which ... doesnt work well, you need specific materials to make potions with that effect which you also need to upgrade the only armor set wit hthat effect that ONLY works once you upgrade it (i think ... i dont know how high i got it but if even the full upgraded set doesnt negate the rain effect i will not be surprised either lol) also it adds just yet another effect type that spams your inventory and you dont really need .... or i might be the only one that saw no value at all in the "attack up when hot" new type of effects bc it felt so specific and situational while also having a way better option (just make it a standard attack up thing?) at least in my eyes-

[Brief] Thoughts on Film Theory's Analysis

I was gonna post this on my priv twt.. but moots convinced me to post it here so here we are.. beware of spoilers, gore, bla bla bla ..

FIRST OFF I'm gonna start by saying, I AM ESL. I may or may not have misinterpreted some of his words, but this is mainly how I thought of his analysis. This is not meant to be ill-guided or rude ! so sorry if it comes off as this way. I will be very repetitive.

Another thing, most if not all of the information matpat gave out i alr discussed with a few mutuals on discord about a few months back so this is not new territory to me 😭😭 I thought most folks would already knew the concept of how the brain deteriorates overtime But honestly, that indisposition shouldn’t even apply to omni man??? matpat tried to compare an immortal Viltrumite's psychology to that of an aging human's, which can be misguided.

Let's start by how he compares Nolan's brain to the average aging human's brain so the audience could understand his psyche more and how empathy declines overtime. First and foremost, Nolan is not a human, second; Nolan wasn't raised with empathy or around an empathetic environment - it was an alien concept to his race. Something frowned upon. He was raised from birth to conquer and destroy without remorse. His brain never developed those neural pathways for empathy in the first place. It's not that they deteriorated over time, they were never even formed.

By the time he came to Earth, all this familial stuff was new to him. Sure, he knew he was gonna outlive them, but He didn't think he'd get attached. HE didn't process that he'd grieve over them when the time came.

Interacting with humanity for the first time ignited unfamiliar emotions in Nolan that he didn’t know how to process.

His time living amongst humans caused conflicting feelings he’d never experienced in his centuries of systematic slaughter. Loving Debbie and Mark went against everything he was taught, but he couldn't help it. For once, the lives he was manipulating to further Viltrum’s goals meant something to him. He developed a [what he presumed, NOT what he felt about them in reality, his love for them is far more profound than he assumed it to be which we later on see in the last ep of s1 and the second season] petty facsimile of love for his ersatz family.

So no, his capacity for empathy didn't decline with age as MatPat claims. His empathy was stunted from the start. An underdeveloped skill, not a deteriorated one. We had characters like Debbie to help him understand those notions, help him grow it. With Mark in the mix? it only amplified that development.

Viltrumites are societally and culturally predisposed to violence and domination. Nolan was never accustomed to forming emotional connections or grieving loss. Those were entirely new experiences for him after arriving on Earth. He was not jaded. he was grown into jamais vu in viltrum.

This is why the whole conflict in s1 happened, he was treading between double lives he wasn't sure of. He was conflicted because his past values were refuting with his new experiences. He found love on Earth, he found himself unable to accept how he'd lose Debbie. Of How jaded Mark might become. Everything he said to Mark till that point was his own self-projections, his own fears, doubts.

While the video did provide some interesting facts about neuroscience and aging, the application of those facts to Nolan's character was inaccurate. IT is educational for those who don't know, but it isn't recent news that the brain begins to deteriorate overtime so this video wasn't that informative which kinda disappointed me. Their analysis lacked alot of information about the Viltrumite race and Nolan's character. Comparing him to humans with normal life experiences just doesn't work. His immortal nature combined with a lack of empathy from birth created a psychology unlike anything seen on Earth.

SORRY FOR RANTING ALOT AND OR IF IT SEEMS LIKE I'M GIVING MATPAT SHIT ... i really liked their analysis on immortal so i'll give them that. Immortal, unlike Nolan, was born human. He has lived among humanity for over 3000 years, inhabiting different identities of public and devoted historians. Because of this, his psyche developed quite differently. Immortal knows how to form connections, experience loss, and adapt to social changes. His perpetual existence didn't harden his heart like Viltrum's brutal culture did to Nolan. Instead, Immortal's immortality allowed his empathy and compassion to blossom.

Humans are social creatures. Our brains have evolved to seek out interpersonal relationships, crave affection, and find meaning in community. For an immortal like Immortal, social interaction is vital to staving off boredom, depression and detachment from humanity.

By inhabiting mortal lives, he stays tethered to the human experience. He continues learning, growing, and developing empathy.

This is why he's devastated when the guardians die.

This is also why he goes fucking mental and tries to kill Omni-man.

If Immortal had lived in isolation all this time, unable to connect with people, his psyche would likely resemble Nolan's more closely. Without social interaction, Immortal's brain would atrophy in ways that preclude complex emotions and moral reasoning. His sense of purpose would fade, achievements would lose meaning, and life itself might feel pointless. By engaging with humanity, Immortal gives his endless existence purpose and direction. He finds value in each temporary life, so loss still impacts him deeply. Socializing keeps his emotions and cognition flexible, which prevents the apathy and hardness of heart seen in Nolan. Nolan never had these opportunities in his early years, this is why it's more difficult for him to stray away from his indoctrination. It's that he's unused to it, underdeveloped.

60 years to Nolan would've been a year and a half, so what's 20 measly years on Earth for him? Yes, he found profound connections in that little speck of time, but Immortal's emotional capacity is far more extensive.

In summary, Comparing Nolan to a human, whether mortal or immortal, is kinda inaccurate. His Viltrumite psyche rules out him from possessing JADED human qualities. You could say he's desensitized to violence sure, but no.. unfortunately.. he does not have [boomer] brain. He has [indoctrinated alien-fascist brain]

I havent really seen anything for those two games you've mentioned... I'd love to try Dragon's Dogma though I think?

I grew up on Dragon Age so those two dragons got a special place in my heart. The ArchDemon is crazy awesome and spooky looking!!! I also love Flemmeth's dragon design as well, but I didn't use hers for anything.

My plaga Leon specifically was infected through RE4-- just with a major twist and fuckery on my part.

Leon was given a Queen Plaga instead of a normal one in order to subdue his will far easier. Saddler had known based on what he'd been told by his people that Leon was formidable and unstoppable... so he ordered Menendez to "convert" him with one. Also Saddler was very interested in expanding the holy body's hierarchy (not in a weird, breedy way though) since the Queen had no host that could take it's will and power. This is based on the Remake version of events because I haven't played OG4 yet... I have it on my pc.

The Plaga he was given hadn't been killed when he was treated... instead it had gone dormant in shock. The treatment wasn't in time and also the plaga was just too strong to be taken out. It re-emerges once he's in the United States during his quarantine post-mission.

The US government was indeed very interested in the Plagas once they were informed of them... and Leon having a Queen specimen was very... promising. Especially because the Queen is independent from Saddler and that means Leon can command soldiers. (Which is why I have BOW armor Leon... He's deployed with Verdugos on missions. Also I want to have Leon vs. Chris at some point w it cause it sounds SUPER COOL!!! Chris wouldn't know its Leon though hehe)

C-Virus.... I've always liked to use C-virus for shit so I was like: Government experiments on Leon a little bit in some super soldier program designed to use Las Plagas as biological enhancements. They create their own Verdugos and Leon can command them as a Queen bee can. They also discover that C-Virus and Plagas are pretty compatible. It gives Plaga Leon the ability to change as far as needed... and revert back without much issues.

Leon's DNA is used for alot of the projects so everything is actually traceable back to him

Plaga Leon is actually not that strong. Chris can still go toe to toe easily with him. He's only stronger when he's more transformed... then uhhh survive :3c

The BSAA heavily pushes into investigations of the US Government and eventually the DSO over Human Rights violations among other things involving the creation and use of BOW's for their own interests. Chris actually pressures Leon over it alot... but Leon is utterly terrified of saying anything because its extremely dangerous and top secret information (also he was ahem.. conditioned to not spare a peep).

The Magenta eyes were an intentional design choice because red is kinda corny imo and also i thought it was cool :3c

Jason Voorhees

- never had a proper sleep over but I like to think he knows the girl stereotype and he's always wanted one

- he will spend all day cleaning and setting up lights to have the ultimate sleepover experience

- he will be more then happy to sit on a chair and let you do his make-up and nails

- he just enjoys quality time and likes the smell of nail polish

- he would be too uncomfortable to take off his mask so, ig make-up goes onto the maks (also means its easier to clean later)

- he won't have a steady hand when doing your make-up, he'll feel bad so let him know it's all just fun'n games

- aftwards is scary stories around a camp fire, I honestly love the idea of Jason being a bit of a scaredy-cat

- it's just the child in him that still believes in ghost and such

- when it comes time to sleep he will be extremely clingy depending on how scary the stories are

- he will wake you up evertime he hears a sound, but evertime you get up to check it out he'll go first, cause to him nothing is scarier then you being at risk

- once he does fall asleep it's total bliss and lots of cuddles

- solid 12/10 experience and great quality time together

Lester Sinclair

- he knows all the best places to have a sleepover at

- takes you to the top of this cliff that over-looks Ambrose where you get a perfect view of the sunset and a clear sky of stars

- he would know alot of random facts about space and is more then happy to tell them all

- he won't where make-up but you could probably convince him to let you do his nails

- he will purposefully make you look like a clown just for giggles and then smudge it around "helping" you get it off

- Lester 100% knows how to make the best camp fire foods, and he's happy to have someone to share that with

- he's a tough man who won't get scared of scary stories but he will be a little jumpy

- but he also knows the most grizzly gore story's there are

- when it comes to sleeping he is out like a light the moment he touches something soft

- he snores and moves alot when sleeping but always ends up holding you

- 10/10 experience, I wanna have someone to do this with :(

Bo Sinclair

- he won't wear make up and if you tried to do his nails he would just wash it off, he loves you but that stuff just isn't for him

- but he is pretty good at applying make-up, it's very simple (and a bit messy) but it would be better then most

- I think I've already established bo has a competitive love for bored games, so that's how you'll spend alot of the night

- he will get a little pissy if he loses, but give him a lil kiss on the cheek and he'll be fine

- he tells the most spine chilling scary stories, purely to get you to sit close to him

- bo is not a night owl, he always goes to bed at 11:30 if he's not in bed at that point he's gonna start just randomly dosing off

- it's vry cute and every time you wake him he'll refuse to admit he's tired or that he just fell asleep

- despite being half awake he'll be the one to carry you to bed and probably fall asleep on top of you

- and he sleeps like a rock so good luck trying to move into a more comfortable position

Vincent Sinclair

- vincent likes his little comfort spaces, so build a pillow with him, steal all the pillows in Ambrose and make a mini-house

- this will just make him feel alot safer throughout the night, as well as pillow forts are cool

- another non-make up wearer, he does want to but he'd still be shy about his face and you don't wanna get make up on wax

- he will be more than happy to have his nails done tho, he will probably pick at the paint during the rest of the sleep over

- but you could (and should) definitely braid his hair, or just do something nice with it, it'll mean the world to him

- he is amazing at make up, he sculpts for a living, he's the one who puts make-up on the people to make them look like people

- a true artist, so it's gonna hurt both of you when u need to wash it off

- the rest of the night will include you sitting in his lap playing with his hair while eating pop-corn and watching Disney films

- after awhile your gonna fall asleep and wake up to Vincent still awake watching films, he forgot the sleep part of a sleepover

Micheal Myers

- he has no idea what a sleepover is or what he's getting involved in, he just wants to hang around you

- NOT a make up person he will pin u to the ground to get you to drop any lipstick or blush

- u can probably get away with nail polish, but he has to choose the colours (those colours will be black)

- he also won't do your make up, he just don't like doing stuff he knows he's gonna be bad at

- you can try bored games but you'll spend half the time explaining the rules, and he's not a fan of losing

- after a while you'll feel like it's all pointless and he'll bring out a cook book (he's trying his best)

- then the real fun starts, you two make a chocolate cake and a huge mess getting sprinkles and icing everywhere

- and then eat it while watching a horror film that will scare you into cuddling up to him, this is all he really wanted anyway, genuine quality time with you

- when it comes time to sleep Michael sleeps like a rock hugging you with a death grip

- he's not gonna let go till morning and even then he'll pretend to be asleep until he actully needs to get up

- 12/10 for all the touch starves bb's out there

Brahms Heelshire

- he has had very few sleepovers but hearing you want to have one makes him ecstatic (even tho u already live with him its the thought that counts)

- he wouldn't want make up until he releases you need to get all close to put it on, he's all in

- and in the end he will love the results, he however won't be as good, he'll purposefully do it rly slowly just so he can stay cloes to you

- if you do nail polish he's gonna keep touching it before it drys witch will lead to it being all messy

- Brahms dosnt like horror stories, like Jason he still has the children's fear of demons and ghost

- when it comes to snacks he eats by the handfull, so whatever you make, make alot of it

- he'll be very huggy and clingy throughout the night, only letting you get stuff when he goes with you

- he will fall asleep before you and continue to act asleep to get you to carry him to bed, it won't work cause he's like a 6'3 adult man

- so you end up sleeping on the couch withhim

Thomas Hewitt

- tell him you wanna have a sleepover and he'll set everything up

- he knows more than anyone that he doesn't have the most inclusive family so he will set up a lil camp area

- he would be nervous about having make up but he knows it'll make you happy so he's willing to let you do it

- he will also be nervous about nail polish and will unfortunately have to pick it off in the morning so Hoyt won't see it

- when doing your make up he puts on very little, he thinks you look amazing without it

- Thomas isn't a big talker but he'll find a way to scare you at some point during the night

- for snacks he raided his house for some chips and hard candy, it ain't much but it's perfect snacks for star gazing

- you will be the one to fall asleep first and he'll carry you to the lil tebt he set up

- it does take him a moment to be relaxed enough to fall asleep, and he moves alot in his sleep so he might wake you up

Billy Loomis

- he can't wait to spend quality time with you and will end up spending all day out with you buying snacks and DVD's

- fir make up he'll probably only let you put on some lashes and lip stick

- purely for the reason that when he kisses you straight after there will be lipstick marks all over your face

- he wouldn't want his nails painted but is more then happy to do yours, he's got a surprisingly steady hand and dose a good job

- the two of you would probably put a movie on in the background while playing a bored games

- but if he misses his favourite scene or anytime someone dies he'll play it back

- he will cheat, but in the most obvious ways, he just likes seeing you get all heated about it

- he is very much a night owl and will remian awake long after you fall asleep

- he also just likes to see you try and stay awke but your eyes just keep closing, he thinks it's real sweet

- once he does fall asleep it would be cuddling close to you

Stu Mancher

- he is ecstatic to have a sleepover and can't wait to do all the stereotypical sleepover things

- he would love to have make up but not to much, as much as he loves goofing around about it he hates the feeling of make up layers on his face

- but that won't stop him from caking it on your face, and you both end up having a good laugh

- when washing it off both of you just end up smudging it around just to annoy each other

- for nail polish he would want nice blues and purples, and he'll leave his nails to be like that until the paint comes off naturally

- he would by spicy foods and that jelly bean challenge (the one where some are normal and some are rly gross)

- you both end up almost throwing up so you end the night with icecream and some cheesy old films

- and you'll both just fall asleep on the coutch in eachothers arms

He’ll also talk about the sun, and why he thinks there’s aliens that secretly live on it, but he tries not to talk about it too much. He doesn’t have alot of evidence to support his claims. During the night however, he can really go either way. He doesn’t mind going out at night, he loves it actually. But if you’d prefer to stay indoors he’d love that too. He doesn’t really care either way, just as long as he’s with you.

Also here's some bonus info on him and his role and all :)

• Hes a trans dude (he/they pronouns) that "is built like a twink and dresses like a femboy" (quote from my friend lmao), and has an extremely ambiguous voice - British accent btw (grew up in the UK, he moved over to his current residence and lives w a roommate who was his online friend).

• Hes can occasionally be a lil bit of a freak behind the scenes XD. Has indulged in alot of fanfiction, draws some questionable stuff for money and also generally can have pretty crude and vulgar humor sometimes lmao.

• Hes pretty creative with a long ass list of hobbies. Loves fashion and costumes, is an artist, avid sewer and just generally loves making things with his hands in his spare time (100% brings his crochet to work XD)

• Has almost crippling anxiety about literally almost everything.

• Hes very polite and tolerates alot of bullshit to avoid conflict, but inside he is 100% raging with the heat of 1000 suns despite the fact hes outwardly shaking enough to be practically vibrating. He will definitely talk shit about the situation to himself in great, excruciating, dramatic detail with alot of angry cursing later and then probably cry about it.

• The boi is a little try-hard that will do their job above minimum effort in order to get praise, or out of fear for getting in trouble.

• Hes typically empathetic to a fault and a straight up (un)qualified therapist.

• Oh, also, hes a raging insomniac.

- First got the job because art commissions were a little slow and, hey, a more reliable source of money at the time wouldnt hurt.

- He was always kinda curious about the place because the scary stories about it were fun to pick apart and he loved the designs of all the animatronics (pft furry).

- He showed up to the interview scared shitless but they hired him almost on the spot, much to his confusion, as he was probably less than entirely qualified for this sort of job.

- From his very first day, he showed up pushing the dress code XD. But, he was indeed wearing the uniform, so he was technically following the rules(THEY COULDNT DO SHIT TO HIM 🥰) (well they could) (but the understaffing issue was more prioritised).

- His coworkers genuinely have no fucking clue how he manages to give enough of a shit to put that much stuff on every morning. The fits are always very over the top, considering all he had to do was put the damn uniform on, but alas, he usually showed up in head to toe accessories and such. It's honestly the best way he can make himself go into work. If he's gonna work a kinda shitty job that doesn't fit his schedule that well and have to do it on barely any sleep, THEN FUCK YEAH HES GONNA DO IT WHILE LOOKIN GOOD. Thats his philosophy on it, atleast XD.

- At first while he settles into the job hes just given shifts in general areas, working joint shifts with more trained security guards or maintenance people or animatronic handlers (those were his favourites. He always got excited like a little kid when getting to see any of the animatronics) to get him used to the place.

Fazbear ent. Was clearly desperate for employees as they were almost always understaffed, but it seemed that they weren't willing to give many employees a strict job role. Rather, expecting them to be a jack of all trades as to try and fix that little issue.

This also happened to apply to Avery, explaining why he was given such oddly scattered and different jobs to settle him in.

- Even as he did start becoming independent, this didnt much change.

One night he could be watching security cameras in the office, the next he could be counting stock at a gift shop, the next he could be helping out with minor maintenance tasks on the robots (despite his ZERO FUCKING KNOWLEDGE ON THEM. Great job there Faz.Ent. Oh well. As time went on he did get atleast a little accustomed to it and managed not to electrically fry his no-robotics-degree-having ass. And he also gained a bestie in the Parts and Services Department, so that was pretty helpful too).

Shit was pretty damn good.

- Thats when they 'suddenly' decide that daycare security is necessary. Something about parents becoming increasingly weary of the odd 'Daycare Attendant' animatronic.

With Avery being their newest hire and most likely to agree to take the position, he immediately gets targeted.

- Now, Avery isnt fond of kids.

Theyre annoying little shits.

So the second he hears 'daycare' hes like "fuck no".

Not to mention that his uh... 'look' (that management had still protested until eventually giving up) would probably set off some entitled mothers or something, and he'd rather not have parents screaming in his face about it.

- Alas, hes eventually convinced into it, under the condition that he gets to stay behind the security desk and not be bothered at all.

- Theyve had security there before, after a few... incidents... but it seemed like they were putting him on a more long term intended job.

- Turns out, from what he can gather from coworkers, a few people have been assigned to the daycare in the past for multiple different roles, but noone really enjoyed it and everyone avoided the place as much as possible. Sun just generally freaked everyone out with that weird... desperation he always had (which was definitely a part of what the parents had also been complaining about) and Moon just scared them all shitless, with the night security guards always looking over their shoulder in hopes of not crossing patrol with him. Noone really downright hated them, some even felt sympathy, but most were just too unsettled to interact with them.

- Avery, being a bit of a pussy, is even further put off from the job by these sentiments.

However, he perseveres and dresses his best to try and convince himself that itd be fine (aka, that if he died atleast hed die pretty).

- The daycare actually had its own themed uniform alongside the plain guard uniform, as did alot of other places in the pizzaplex. However, since the employees were given a choice, basically everyone chose to not don the more whimsical fits, and instead just use their badge to show the specific job or branch they were supposed to be legally assigned to.

- Avery, on the other hand, fucking lived for that shit. XD

Styled it like a girlboss and walked into work at exactly 6.30am, 30 minutes before the daycare opened, prepared to look perfectly the part for his job.

- When he walked into the daycare (he avoided the slide... hm.. maybe if he ever has a night shift here....) and the lights were already on and bright enough to blind a bitch.

Oh well, their electric bill, not his problem.

- He immediately settled behind the desk, planning to keep his ass planted there for the next few hours with one earbud in, hidden under his hair, as he would halfheartedly watch the kids.

But...

Something felt off.

Really fucking weird.

He was definitely being *watched*.

Observed.

Ugh, creepy.

He ignored it, blaming it on lack of sleep.

And thats about as far as i got plan wise for his lil plotline XD

Sorry this is coming in so late, I saw dune part 2 early this morning before starting my sunday reset and it's been busy. Keeping everything clean is definitely helping with my mindset and go figure I actually feel alot more balanced now that my place isn't in complete chaos all the time.

So I go to the gym Monday through Friday. I go first thing after work so I never really feel like i have time to talk myself out of it. It's brutal, it's killing me, and I love it. What I don't love is the making sure I'm eating at home every night, honestly I've always hated cooking for myself and now making sure I'm eating correct portions and eating something moderately healthy sucks. That being said I've tried alot of new recipes lately.

I officially started on my ics2 cyber security certification. I made it through my first test and got 89%. 75 questions, so I'm somewhat proud of myself. I'll be happy when this is finished. Spanish is really kicking my ass as well, memorizing the words isn't so much a problem as the conantation for who im talking to that changes the words. I wish I was better at this.

Girly and I are not talking right now, and I honestly don't blame her. If the reflection has taught me anything it's that I've been fucking up I didnt just make a single mistake. I acted like a petulant child for a lot of things including finding out she had mixed thoughts on us. leading with your emotions is never the correct way to go, they will take you on a ride to a place you didn't want to be. Whenever we do talk again I have a lot to make up for.

Work sucks. However this week we had a work event which we haven't had since 2019 and I got to finally try axe throwing. It took awhile to figure out how to throw correctly but once I did I was a natural. I really enjoyed it. I've stopped applying for positions until I finish the first certification at the minimum. I think I'll get something great after I have a position or two under my belt.

Therapy really is a pain and my therapist may also be retiring soon so I guess I'll be back on the market for another. I'm not exactly happy about this because I just feel like I got most of the introductions out of the way and I haven't seen this much progress in myself in a long time however there isn't much to be done.

Overall I think I'm doing good. Somedays are easier than others and I miss the hell out of her everyday. I'm happy my blog is finally unbanned and it's been nice to have something to focus on. Sorry this one isn't as organized as it could be. I'll admit to slightly rushing so I can focus on some self appointed homework.

Oh one more thing fuck the time change.

feeling much better now having gotten some sleep (the dont trust how you feel about yourself past 9pm is good advice no joke)

of course all my criticism of totk still applies but im feeling less depressed about it, tho i will say its honestly kinda baffling how many times the game actually got me interested and excited about stuff and then just kinda drops it in a dead end, of course they were those kind of things in botw as well but it seems much less .. balanced in totk

(not even just the big things like making me want to actively do something to help zelda turn back when it just gets solved on its own in the end, but also some lil things like the fact that so many NPCs tell you about that newly discovered animal species and when you find the dongos they are just gem vending maschines)

in the end i can say, no, i dont like totk, tho i still love the graphics and the way the world is made ( botw showed me jsut how immersive and alive a world can feel i love it to death), i liked the gameplay and that it kept the freedom botw had established, the bossfights are mostly fun (tho i wish you could refight more of them), i LOVE the yiga and im glad they got more of a spotlight, the music is FANTASTIC i keep catching myself humming along, alot of the sidequests are much bigger and feel like you are actually doing something, i like how the sages are a bit more integrated into the story, the majority of the new designs are great, both the japanese and german voice acting is great, and the end fight has some of the best build up i have ever experienced, my heart starts to race when that music build up starts even tho i have beaten it 3 times already-

however, the story is both simple and incredible flat with lots of stuff that doesnt make sense especially when it was said to be a sequel, the zonau should have stayed a mystery imo, they failed to make me care about them even a little bit and often felt forcefully crammed into the world and its history, i think you could have told an incredible story taking place in the present and leave the past be the past, you easily could have connected botw and totk in a much better way than they did, i dont like how it changes aspects about botw all the while nigh ignoring it ever happened, it still feels like it was trying to be a replacement and not a sequel and all the referencing and callbacks to the old titles may have been done in good faith but that and including time travel yet again ultimately lead to people ripping each other to shreds over trying to prove its placed in the old timeline despite it making no sense at all and confusing people even more; often when the game made me care or be excited about something it was dropped in a dead end, there was a ton of missed opportunities and lost potential to tell a much more nuanced and interesting story/lore, and thinking about it only makes me sad for the things that could have been

overall i think my disappointment is outweighing my fun and the only way i can keep playing it while having fun is ignoring everything that isnt, which works quite well most of the time since im pretty much done with all story stuff but i keep slipping into my little rants nonetheless; i will say its making me a little worried about the future of the franchise, but i know im in the minority and maybe i will just have to accept that the new stuff wont be for me anymore and i should not hope for anything that interests me xD

except for some meme material or specific characters i love i dont think i will make much use of anything totk tried to establish, and i hope thats fine with the lot of you (<3) hopefully that also means my ranting days are over xD

The Story of Quinn and Darlin' .

today. I will talk about the way Erik has approached abuse and the role of the abuser and the victim through the story of Darlin' and Quinn.

I will be very honest. I will be talking about this topic with my own experiences on mind as well. This is not in any way me saying how the metaphor is canonly used because I am not Erik and this is very much just an interpretation that I thought would be nice to share because I really think Erik is a brilliant writer

so now. tws : descriptions of abuse, emotional trauma, victim-blaming, manipulation, shame, helplessness, intrusive thoughts, and isolation

I have struggled ALOT on how to state all of this. But my philosophical mind pushed me to write this analysis.

Darlin' has always been a favorite listener of mine since I first started listening to Redacted. Their want for vengeance, lack of self preservation, moral ambiguity, etc. has always fascinated me. It was the first time that I ever saw a listemer character be given such a complex character and backstory. It was powerful enough to indicate them as a character in a story, but also ambiguous enough to be left to the interpretation of the listener. Of course this also applies to all the other listeners but that's besides the point.

From Sam's first ever solo vid, Darlin' is shown as a character that is rough around the edges, impulsive, self-destructive, and antagonistic. They are the lone wolf who is seeking revenge. Its obvious that there is a deeper explanation to rheir character, but it is left up in the air. The immediate connection between Sam and Darlin' activates an alliance between the two characters. Darlin has a dark history with this vampire and Sam s just gained a new progeny due to said vampire. They both want revenge. And they both agree to help each other get it

In Sam's second video, we are shown how self-destructive Darlin' is. They refuse to bother anyone for the help they clearly need. This very common among victims of abuse. A research study shows that this ingrained fear, lack of knowledge about alternatives, systemic isolation leading to a mistrust in others, and physical and psychological confinement is what causes many victims to be afraid to ask for help. They are afraid of the outcome. The people who have no knowledge of their trauma could develop negative views. But with Sam, it's safe. There is no hurt.

Ok now i think yall got my point. EVERYODY GOT TRAUMA IN THIS HOUSEHOLD.

Now, let's fast foward to now. Quinn is sittimg in an interrogation room with Sam while Darlin', David, and strangers are witnessing this exchange through mirrored glass.

Quinn is deliberately exposing Darlin's past. Their mate, their family, strangers, and honestly anyone who sees the interrogation tape are hearing the parts of Darlin' that they've wanted to bury away from the world.

"Because there is no greater pain I can give them than denying them....closure."

I will be extremely honest. Erik hit the bullseye on this one. Closure gives us an understanding of what went wrong on our end, which can help us grow and avoid making the same mistakes in the future. Without it, the mind can turn into a horrid cycle of overthinking and suffering.

Quinn is right. The worst thing he can do from his position is deny Darlin' closure. Because after this, his memory will haunt them forever. The memories of him abusing and manipulating them will last for an eternity. And they will be powerless against it.

"Oh, they trusted me. They trusted me with every part of them. I was the safe place for all those ugly thoughts in their head because they knew that what was in my head, was much worse. That I wouldn't judge them for it. That they could ask me to do anything to them, and I'd do it, with a smile. Anything for my precious. Are you enjoying my sloppy seconds?"

I know many people were pissed off with Quinn for saying this (rightfully so because so did I) but I want to dive into this whole part.

This just shows how hurt Darlin' was even before Quinn. They felt broken to the point where they only found comfort in a greater evil than what they thought they had. I know many people weren't able to see the sneak peak Erik released earlier this month, but I'm going to reference it for my next point. He basically just showed Quinn's icon with the song 'That's The Way Boys Are' by Lesley Gore, which illustrates an abusive relationship where the singer is trying to redeem their abuser because "that's just how it is". This resembles Darlin and Quinn's relationship perfectly. It shows why Darlin' stayed for as long as they did. Because the familiarity of the pain felt like safety.

We often learned early in our primary relationships (parents, siblings, friends, etc) what we had to do to receive love, and often times this meant giving up our own needs to serve somebody else. The chaos, unpredictability, abuse, pain, and suffering feels safe when they were entangled with love.

Darlin' was taught that love had to come with that pain. All they wanted in the end was love from someone who cared.

As I've said before, this is in no way me saying that this is exactly what Erik wanted to when he released this story. This is entirely an interpretation that I felt like writing because if I didn't I probably would've just cried to my notes app at 3am 😝🫶🏽

I am very excited to see the way this will end. AGAIN. Erik is a genius, brilliant writer and I cannot put into words how much his videos bring about such stories that feel so realistic to the point where people like me can see ourselves. Where we can live out a reality where we healed the way we wanted.

So! Mister Ask Deoxys. I just want to say how much I’ve really appreciated the past few months of getting to hang out in vcs playing games or just chatting about stupid work. Honestly I never expected making such good friends with people in the community and the fact that you’re one of them says alot! You really honestly make this place just so much better. I’m sure you recall how nervous I was being in a larger server at first, but it helps alot now that you made me break out of my shell and relax. I think the best quality about you is that you really know how to listen and make someone feel better even if they’re down. I wish I could hang out more often, I really feel bad that my schedule sucks so hard so I often cant but I’ll find something that works eventually.

Your blog is one of a kind! I can’t believe you’ve been around for so long it really boggles the mind! Deoxys is so special and I just love all the shenanigans he has on his blog. Who wouldve thought minecraft sessions would end up as a running joke for our characters XD Im always excited when you post, and even if not you’re always around to chat. hello !! yet another different anon, but just wanted to share this while we’re on the topic of self-criticism - hopefully this doesn’t come off as patronizing, it’s just smth i’ve found helps me as an artist and hopefully it’ll help u :D

i think it’s rlly important to view old art more from the perspective of the feelings u had making it rather than the actual content of the art itself. sure, ur artistic skills have improved a lot over the years, and maybe when ur looking back at ur older work u see a lot of flaws in it - weird anatomy, bad lighting, articles of clothing that don’t make sense, etc (not saying ur old art has any of these i’m just listing examples i’ve had in my own lol) - but u had fun making it !! it’s a drawing of something u loved and still love, and it served its purpose as an outlet to express that love. when people go back and like those old drawings, they’re not seeing it for its flaws - they’re seeing it for the love it represents, a love they probably feel themselves. while it’s good to critique ur own work to some extent for the sake of improvement, people liking ur old stuff is far from cringe-worthy! it’s just someone enjoying something u once enjoyed too, like an internet happiness hand-me-down :)

again, this sort of mindset has rlly helped me personally - i don’t feel as nervous about drawing or posting, bc im just having fun !! it’s ok if it’s kind of janky or has weird details, it was made with love and people can see and appreciate that. nobody ever stops improving or seeing flaws in their work, so its best to focus more on the joy it gave u and push urself towards improvement with the promise of even more joy rather than forcing urself to improve under the threat of feeling ashamed of ur creations

hopefully all of this makes sense i kind of have the shakes rn lol. sorry for the super long ask, i just dont rlly know how to explain all of this in a short way-

AND I DEFINITELY AGREE!! tbh its a mindset i tend to have, but i think where ive lacked is definitely in applying the "im just doing it for fun" logic to past me. i tend to be someone who very much lives in the present and have a bit of a disconnect both from the past and the future, and this can cause me to totally disregard everything about my past self and past work LOL. so honestly having all this put into words has kinda been an "OHH RIGHT" moment for me KASJHFJAHSDKJ

theres also the factor of my audience being bigger now........ im not really someone who likes having alot of eyes on me for various reasons, which sometimes causes me to waver a bit AKJSHFKJH THOUGH ITS NOT THAT BAD. i think most of my shyness comes from having artists i really admire now see my art and im like "FUCK IC ANT HAVE IT LOOK BAD WHAT IF THEY SEE" which can cause me to overthink things But also i tend to forget that those people even follow me 80% of the time. tbh all of my "insecurities" in regards to my art are purely circumstantial and only really present themselves if im in a flustered state, but a large portion of the time im just chilling KJAHSFJKHK

i do also wanna say tho that i think the viewing all art as coming from a place of love sentiment is very sweet........ esp bc in the beginning one of the compliments i got the most was along the lines of "your love for the characters really shines through!!" so to think that, in spite of potential quality, that love is still visibly present makes me very happy.......... Perhaps if u have genuine love for what u do itll shine through no matter what
