The Seijoh 4 were attending a small benefit gala upon invitation of their former captain. Oikawa and the Argentinian national team were currently in Japan for a tournament and would spend their time greasing palms of potential investors and, theoretically, Issei had been looking forward to tonight - hanging out with his friends in a fancy suit, having good food and most importantly, getting to show you off to absolutely anyone with eyes. When he picked you up earlier he had spent a full five minutes taking pictures of you from every angle, all stunning in your evening gown, perfectly wrapping around your generous curves. If it wouldn‘t have been for Oikawa, he honestly would have just stayed in and ravished you in that dress. Unfortunately (although not surprisingly), you caught the eyes of one of Oikawa‘s teammates and the tall handsome man had been glued to your side ever since. And because his girlfriend was completely oblivious to his advances, you simply laughed along and took his flirting for simple curiosity. “Where are you going?“, you laughed, trying to keep up with his long strides while in heels, but the arm around your hips kept you steady.

Issei opened a door here and there until, “Ah, now this looks cozy.“

It was a storage room for extra chairs and tables. Only a bit of moonlight trickled through a small rectangular window near the ceiling, barely illuminating the room enough to make out more than shapes.

“Gee, I wonder what you want to do here.”, you chuckled and let him lift you onto one of the tables.

Trapped between his strong arms on either side of you, you hummed happily when his lips found yours. For a while he only kissed you, getting needier not long after you started.

“Lay back.”, he panted, holding the back of your head so you wouldn’t hurt yourself.

Seeing you all pretty on the table like that fried the last few rational thoughts that were trying to get his attention.

Issei walked to the end of the table and slowly pushed up your dress, disappointed that the dim silvery light didn’t allow him to fully appreciate your panties. But he did grin when his large hand wandered up your thigh and he felt how wet you were for him.

in the past week or so ive seen a lot of people posting about how there's this oversexualization of trans girls on the site, and I gotta agree, there are way too many people (including other trans women!) who act like we're all dtf 24/7 or always super kinky and horny. I've been tired of that stereotype for ages and i am saying this as a rather sexual trans girl myself...

...but I think people are overcorrecting a bit now, and are starting to veer into "trans women shouldnt be talked about sexually / need to be shielded from it" territory. and, to me, that's really dangerous, because outside of some queer spaces - and even within them- the sexuality of trans girls is heavily scrutinized, as is attraction to us. as much as I dislike certain aspects of the memes and jokes that kickstarted the stereotypes, I'm kinda grateful for them as well. girldick jokes helped with my bottom dysphoria, voice kink shit helped me like my voice, and the whole "tgirl tummy tuesday" thing gave me a lot of confidence in my body where I hated it before. I think this open appreciation of trans sexiness has done a lot for both me and others on tumblr.

again, obviously its got its problems - people end up assuming every trans girl is horny, or only spread positivity if its related to sex with us, and of course the people who do have dysphoria from the things that are being sexualized are left out (like those the "girls without dicks are like angels without wings" memes, ugh, feels icky every time). and on the note of comparing tgirls to angels, we also started getting treated like we're ethereal fertility goddesses and that t4t sex was some inherently sacred ritual. spoiler alert, trans girls are normal-ass people and t4t sex can be holy for the participants but its generally a pretty normal thing to do as well

coming back to the "don't sexualize trans girls" posts now, I think they were initially going in the right direction, but at this point I'm starting to raise an eyebrow at more than a few of them. I'm not gonna whip out the "youre a sex hating puritan if you post about it" accusation because that is obviously wrong but again, I think people are definitely overcorrecting and starting to turn this into a (false) dichotomy when it's not. its a complex topic and each individual trans woman will feel differently about it.

(I feel like the internet just erases any nuance in favor of a two-sided, highly polarized flamewar with unrealistic views on both sides. actually i wouldn't even say this is a super-nuanced discussion because its really not that hard to say "fetishization is bad, but so is suppression of sexuality". will this post just end up being a void scream and people will continue drawing lines between one side and the other? probably. but I am a stubborn bitch and I have hope that we can be reasonable.)

anyways I'll close this off by saying that I wrote this between around 1:30 and 2 AM on terrible sleep the night before, that I hope what I said is coherent enough, and that I will keep being a trans girl who is openly sexual, gets horny over other trans women, and is proud to be transsexy as fuck. A significant element of the fun that you’ve created for Lionheart readers is that we don’t know which elements and events of the JKR texts you’ll preserve untouched and which you’ll turn into the sixth and seventh year Lionheart storylines. I adore making my guesses to which parts of canon you’ll play with and which parts you’ll completely and utterly upend. Unfortunately, questions that ask about canon events in books 5-7 ruin so much of the fun.

Historically, you’ve used the Ask box to provide us with analyses of your own work and characterizations, but I feel as if recently you are often indulging questions about books 5, 6, and 7. I hate to say it, but I even feel that your answers veer into spoiler territory. The problem is that the line between spoilers and not spoilers is totally subjective, and the line between "spoilers that are fine" and "spoilers that bother me" is also totally subjective. I don't know where you are on it, but we probably don't line up, and that's okay. I just don't know how I'd begin to sort out questions that one person considers "too much" from what someone else just thinks is fun analysis. My hard rules are as follows: I don't answer any questions about future ships, events, or arcs (and I get a lot). I haven't revealed anything that I would be unhappy to discover in a Tumblr askbox instead of a fic itself. True, I've dropped teaser/trailer stuff for 6 and 7, but to be honest, even looking over the stuff I've posted recently — I hate to say it, but I disagree with you. It isn't spoilers. Not to me, anyway.

But that's just me! There's no right or wrong answer here, it's just a coordination problem of how we can both cultivate social media experiences that make us happy. For instance: I like answering questions about my fic. It makes me happy to talk to people who want to know what happens. It encourages me and gets me excited to write about it, and I don't believe that any of the content on my Tumblr spoils what's going to happen. I don't really want to stop doing that, so I'm not going to. If that means you and other readers whose spoiler thresholds are below mine can't engage with my Tumblr, that's a natural consequence of us having different attitudes about media, and it was bound to happen. I'm sorry that that's the case, but it would bring me much more grief for you to injure your reading experience than it would for you to avoid my (largely irrelevant) e-journal full of random metatext. I love my fic, and I love my readers, you most certainly included; I do not, candidly speaking, love my Tumblr account. And for what it's worth, I absolutely do not think anything I've written on here is worth diminishing your experience of a story you enjoy. It wouldn't jive with my philosophy of literature and art.

So here's what I got: I'll continue tagging spoilers about past and current events as [#lionheart spoilers], and if a question makes reference to events not published, I'll use the tag [#prognosticating]. That way you can block the tag, and other readers can enjoy content that fits under their threshold of non-spoilerism. i’ve never really been one for miyazaki movies, but i’m gonna read too much into a kids’ movie anyway

for the first 30 minutes or so, the boy and the heron feels pretty clear: we are watching a confrontation between pre-meiji isolationist feudalism and post-meiji imperialist industrialism. when mahito’s mom is killed by the firebombing of tokyo by the u.s., he and his father move to rural, agrarian saginuma: more or less literally thrown back in time, mahito gets off a train in his military-inspired school uniform and onto a rickshaw with his kimono-clad stepmom, which they take to her ancient (and very traditional) family estate. he gets into conflicts with the local farmer kids when he passes them as they work in the fields.

this is where it starts to get a little weird for me. i’ve seen the conflict called “bullying” online, but that seems a little… reductive. i don’t think the other kids fight him because they think he’s weak: to me it seems clear they fight him because they think he’s powerful. he’s urban; they’re rural. not only that, but it seems likely that many of their parents work either for shoichi (who is boss at a factory), or natsuko (who seems likely to be the local noble for whom the serfs work the fields). mahito is not the underdog here. this is underscored by the fact that the biggest injury he receives is not from them, but from himself.

anyway, the reason why this is weird is… it’s a little fash? the film pretty undeniably shows the fascists as the more sympathetic characters. the other kids (who, let’s remember, are there to contrast with the fascist shoichi), whatever their reason, do pick a fight with mahito, whose dad is literally producing planes for the imperialist army, and is definitely the sort of “brash but with your best interests at heart” character that fascists like to imagine themselves to be.

and, like a lot of anime, it also veers nervewrackingly close to eugenics territory with its main character—like naruto/ichigo/etc., the main character is ~special~ because of his lineage. i do not like hearing the line “only people of your bloodline can hear the master’s voice”! it’s weird and reminds me of the unification church! what makes mahito a better choice to play with blocks than anyone else?

even given the “it has to be someone related to his great-uncle”… why not his mom, his aunt, or any representation of them that exist in the multiverse connected to the tower? i’ve never really understood why people seem to be under the impression miyazaki movies have strong female protagonists—female protagonists, sure, but they always have very traditionalist attitudes and roles. (i admit my bias here; i’ll never forgive miyazaki for neutering howl’s moving castle’s sophie.) here, the women consist of 1) dead mom, 2) new pregnant mom, and 3) a bunch of old women who are servants and grandmother stand-ins—not exactly far from how fascists want their women to be. (yeah, I know: dead mom also has fire powers and that’s cool; kiriko is a sickass magician/fisherperson; that doesn’t change their primary roles.) the parakeets (who are so fash-coded i don’t even need to explain) won’t hurt natsuko because she has “a baby inside”. it feels very weird to have someone saved by the fact fascists love fetuses? idk.

so, is the movie pro-fascist? i mean, probably not intentionally? it just seems at some points that it has more of a problem with the label “fascist” than the substance of fascism. i suppose you could argue that mahito refusing to build the tower on his great-uncle’s behalf (who, of course, started building it during the meiji period) and accepting natsuko (feudal landlady supreme) as his mother is indicative of a rejection of fascism, but it does nothing about the actual fascist in the story, shoichi. perhaps we’re meant to accept a vision of japan which is industrialist and imperialist, and isolationist and feudalist? good lord, what a right wing wet dream.

anyway, the boy and the heron is ultimately a greatest-hits album. like: child experiences life change, and goes on a journey to a magical world with a funny little animal buddy, where a bossy woman puts them to work at a job where they’re slightly hampered by adorable mascot characters. there’s a love story with the child, but not really, because it’s a child. they eat well-animated food, and catch a ride on a bird that has to flap its wings incredibly fast to account for the added weight. there’s a granny with a bun, and a beautiful, elegant woman in a kimono. ultimately, the child succeeds with the help of an amoral creature embodying nature. roll credits. all the songs you loved when you were young, now available remastered, at a record store near you!

in conclusion: it’s a kids’s movie. i’m not gonna hit myself in the head with a rock over it.

The Familiar 

I have a lot of mixed feelings about this book.

This is actually the only other Leigh Bardugo book I've read since the masterpiece that is Six of Crows, so I had no idea what to expect. I don't expect an author to maintain the same writing style from a series they wrote so many years ago, but I was expecting something decent at least. And make no mistake; it WAS decent. 

One thing I will say for sure: Leigh can write her ass off. I LOVE her prose. It's even a little like Holly Black's. After slugging through so many subpar pieces of work, it's refreshing to read a book where the author is an excellent writer. Plot aside, the prose is lovely and lush and there are so many lines I wished I annotated or took better note of. 

I think it's even Leigh's gorgeous prose that helps to embellish — or dare I say, mask — the bones of this fantasy story: the rather ubiquitous trials/tournaments trope. I happen to LOVE this trope, but I do think Leigh's writing made a premise that's so commonplace today feel rich, unique and atmospheric. I'm also a huge believer of execution over trope, so this isn't a complaint. It might even be praise. 

So why the mixed feelings, right?

This is going to veer faintly into spoiler territory (though I tried to be subtle), so beware.

The problem is that I don't really love any of the characters. The main cast is… fine, mostly inoffensive, but very forgettable. I know in several months from now I'll have forgotten this story altogether. The thing is, characters are vastly important to me — in fact, I don't even mind a weaker story if the characters stood out more. Luzia seems vague to me — I know she wants more out of her life, but that's about it? I'm sure there are more facets to her personality but overall she hasn't made a salient impression on me. 

Same with Santángel. I was honestly baffled that the writer who wrote distinct personalities like Kaz, Jesper, Wylan and Matthias gave me a male character as tepid as Santángel. His circumstances/curse was extremely fascinating, I don't question that (and it's one of this book's biggest highlights), but his personality was bland. I guess he is a little… grumpy? A little stoic?

That said, I love Valentina's character and I think the ending did her justice. She shone a lot through the book — it does start in her POV, after all — and I'm glad she somehow found her happiness at the end. I also liked the Holy Child, though I was expecting a bit more from her at the end. Hualit — I kept yoyo-ing between disliking her and being neutral and now I just don't care. 😂

The ending… was unexpected. I was scratching my head and trying to make sense of it at first. It wasn't anything like what I had envisioned it to be and I'm having a lot of mixed feelings towards it. The more I think about it, the more I can understand why Leigh wrote it this way, but it felt a tad anticlimactic. Perhaps with time and perspective I'll change my mind (I already have, a bit), but I'd hoped Santángel could break the Curse. Also! The good luck magic doesn't make a lot of sense because obviously it should have worked in a way to keep Santángel by Victor's side, given the calamitous outcome for Victor. But maybe I'm overthinking it. 

Overall, I don't think it was a major letdown or anything like that. More of a "Well, it was an interesting read!" I can't say I loved it, but at least I finally got to read something by Bardugo that isn't Six of Crows, haha. I'm still not sure if I should read Ninth House but maybe one day?

I'm still only about 2/3 done, so I won't be doing a real review right now, but I am quite confident recommending Exadelic, by Jon Evans. I was initially concerned that the book, while well written, was going to suffer from being overly high-context (specifically, the Bay Area c. 2023). I don't want to veer too much into spoiler territory, but suffice it say that not only is that not really an issue, you will have, "oh, this is suddenly a completely different kind of story" moments several times. (Content warning for torture.)

I also recently read Androne by Dwain Worrell. The central conceit of this book is quite interesting, although I'm not sure it really works if you spend to much time thinking about. Then again, stories involving [REDACTED] often don't. The prose here is only okay, however, so you're definitely reading for the plot/idea rather than the writing per se.

general thoughts on karma files/favorite route?

...Well, damn, this is going to be a long answer. Putting everything under readmore in case it veers off into spoiler territory.

So I prefer the paragon route, generally speaking, but I can see why you guys might like the renegade route more.

What I know is from watching playthroughs of the renegade route on youtube, but the way the plot that route is leading towards does lowkey intrigue me. Especially how the two route exclusive(-ish?) characters are connected (from what I understood, after M2 attacked the MC's host in the Plane of Dissonance, she was spirited away by Karma and placed into the body of the renegade route's Melia while the paragon post-PM Melia somehow ended up in M2's original body where she wandered around for a bit with the MC's host until she was given the chance to return to the point where she left off. Not to mention that the paragon and renegade MCs seem to be in cahoots with each other, with the End of Night spell and the Red Chain trade).

.Karma files on the other hand? I absolutely adore it. I love how in the paragon route we get the chance to bond with the main cast, either through the main story or through sidequests like the Xenogene movie. And we finally get some well-needed Crescent lore! Before v13.5 I didn't really care much for her since she felt more like a plot device and deus ex machina to bail the MC out of tight spots than an actual character, but in the current version she feels more human and def way more involved (the part where she intervenes in Helojak was fucking awesome, have I ever mentioned that? And then there's also where you talk to her after the Valor Summit incident, which feels more... I don't know, real? At least it got me more invested in her than v13 did and maybe a smidgen of guilt).

Can I just say that Crescent is adorkable? She's now one of my top fav rejuv characters, right behind Erin.

And then there's the Renegade stuff. I don't really have much to say about the main story stuff, but the events leading to the final boss was... interesting, to say the least. Spacea and Tiempa were Interceptors from the era of the Old Earth, who later became Overseers of the System by merging with Palkia and Dialga respectively? So it does imply that they're either something like a prototype for the Interceptor MC, or they're only "Interceptors" in the sense that they were beings summoned from foreign worlds to serve as wildcards to give them an edge. The final part of the Missing Children sidequest does seem to give the second possibility some credence with V, who claimed to be an "Interceptor" by virtue of being from another world but since they weren't chosen by the System like the MC and Crescent did they had no real power beyond the ability to interfere with another's fate.

On an unrelated note, the space hags are fucking cheaters in both the Paragon and Renegade versions of their battle. It's a neat concept in theory, but in gameplay it makes me want to throttle them. Spacea steals your Pokemon and Tiempa (perhaps the most bs mechanic in rejuv imo) would fucking reset your team like how a player would spam f12 to get the rng in their favour. Maybe it's payback for us abusing tf out of the game's quicksave function, but it sure doesn't feel nice (in a humourous "Only I can heal in battle, not the NPC Bosses" kind of way).

tl;dr I think .Karma Files is awesome, and my fav route is the Paragon Route (Renegade is great too, and in some areas more fascinating that Paragon, but I just don't have the heart to do all that effed up stuff lmao)

ok i think this is gonna veer into spoiler territory, so i'll put it under a cut just in case

i don't want to change a lot of the rocket-focused stuff, because i think that was really great — and it was time for rocket to get these things. even as i say this, though, i do wish rocket had been more of an active part in a lot of that, and frankly... this may be unpopular, but i'm just gonna say it: i think the story would've been stronger if rocket actually died. if he got to have this moment of facing his past, having self-actualization, and then going out in a big act of sacrifice to save his chosen family while reuniting with his first one in the afterlife. or something. i don't know, i feel like this story was really telegraphing for rocket to die, and the ending would've made more sense to me if he had.

second of all, i think this movie was missing a lot of character work that needed to be done with gamora, especially in light of the events of infinity war/endgame. i know, because i'm source material familiar, that i had a lot of ideas about using the precedent with the soul stone and the presence of adam warlock as a conduit to maybe do something with that, but i know that gets convoluted — and since i'm at the start of a burgeoning migraine episode right now LMAAOOO i don't have the whole pitch for you. maybe you could've done something wacky and linked it to the high evolutionary still somehow, but even if you didn't, even without that weirdness, i wish this gamora still got more of a fleshed out character arc.

like, i think the main characters in this movie should've been rocket and gamora, straight up. and there's, like. there's a way to link them. i'll add to this when i think of it ghfjdks

i don't know where you stand in terms of supernatural/destiel, but since the last anon asked me abt buddie v destiel in terms of queerbait then i'll take that as a point of comparison

destiel was indeed the main queerbaiting method used by the cw to promote spn. they knew that most of the audience had been watching the show thanks to cas and dean's chemistry and wanted them to be together. however, for many reasons, mainly homophobia or probably chain of command etc etc, they were never gonna make them explicitly canon. so instead they kept.. "amping up"??? the chemistry and the romantic subtext between them enough to keep the audience engaged but keeping plausible deniability. obviously after the last season and the whole bury your gays where they killed off cas, ppl were angry. it was and still is a whole thing bc honestly the cw sucks.

anyways, onto buddie.

ppl who haven't watched 911 but see a lot of buddie content fear that the show is basically doing the same thing, adding little details and subtext between buck and eddie to engage queer viewers or buddie shippers in general and thus have a bigger audience.

what i don't know, but i think is pretty subjective, is if the previous anon would have 911 ruined for them if they started watching, shipping buddie, and then they never got together explicitly in the show.

911 is currently still running and imo there is definitely some amazing chemistry between buck and eddie, not to mention a romantic relationship between them would make total sense.

SPOILERS AHEAD! SKIP THIS PART IF YOU WANT

buck and eddie are pretty much the closest friendship in the show, veering strongly into romantic territory. buck has had a string of catastrophic relationships with women throughout the show, and it's always implied that they don't work because buck needs someone who really knows him, loves him and wants to commit to a serious relationship with him. (eg, a best friend or someone to form a family with).

this particular struggle of buck's is easy to parallel with his relationship with eddie, who has his own relationship problems (including a wife who he separated from, tried to get back together with, and then she died), since he hasn't had any stable love interests.

a crucial part in all of this is christopher, who is of course the person who eddie loves and cares for above all else. chris has had a big say on the way eddie's relationships turn out, because loving eddie means loving chris.

guess who loves chris with his whole heart and is pretty much a second parental figure to him? buck.

between that and the outrageous life-or-death (or psychological distress) situations they have lived through together, there's an unbreakable bond between them. they confide and rely on each other in nearly every aspect of their lives, both during good and bad times.

i personally have fun and adore buck and eddie's relationship as it is currently, and yeah, i'd love for them to be canon as much as the next person. but i'd also be okay if they continued to give us the same buddie dynamic we have right now.

there are a lot of meaningful moments and scenes that basically reaffirm how truly close they are even outside the plot they show us on screen. i love that because it's like they're giving us little blank spaces to fill up with headcanons and fics and gifsets and that is so fun!!

but certain ppl are more adamant in their desire to see their relationship develop romantically on-screen. despite not being one of those people, i get why they want that and i sincerely hope they get it!!

but if it doesn't happen, i'll still happily watch the buck and eddie we've been given and cherish all of their interactions. that and of course as i said in the previous ask, i love 911 for a LOT more reasons than just buddie.

tl;dr #2, buddie isn't canon, whether or not it's queerbait depends on who's watching and how they're watching, but 911 is still worth it as a whole.

This chapter was a masterpiece. You had me crying literal tears of pain at some moments and my heart absolutely melting at others. How dare you make me experience so many emotions on a Friday! As punishment, you must read my novel of a reaction below.

Wow. Taehyung. Just wow. Let me tell you, his reaction to this situation is worse than I even expected. When Y/N pushed him away, instead of him trying to explain his feelings, he just got so mean. "You said we're the same as we've always been? You're a fucking liar." WOW. I gasped. The man deserves to get slapped. Proof that the kiss wasn't because he cares about her, it's because he's trying to punish her because he has some twisted belief he's been wronged. And the man is also giving me whiplash. His text messages seemed so apologetic and caring, but then when he showed up at their apartment his attitude had done a total one-eighty and he was just so awful to both of them. The man has some serious work on himself to do. 😤

Also this Namjoon is perfection. I could never imagine someone possibly reacting in a more mature, supportive, and helpful way to this entire situation than he has. And honestly Y/N too has been so mature and self-aware, questioning the healthiness and validity of her own self-doubts before acting. It's beautiful to see two characters like this. At every point where I thought things between them were going to veer off into a point of miscommunication or misunderstanding, they worked through it together.

I loved their moments at the pond and especially when Namjoon confessed that Y/N makes him feel like he can just be his unfiltered, nerdy self with her and hasn't felt that way around anyone else. We've seen so much of Namjoon being there for Y/N throughout the story that it was so sweet to see him acknowledge how she's made him feel supported and seen as well, even if it wasn't through any particular hardship.

As for the POVs, I'm so glad you are thinking of writing the Taehyung one, I think this would be so interesting to see and I really want to know what is going on inside that man's head because his actions are... not it. Maybe it's because I have it so down bad for Taehyung, or maybe it's because I have a soft spot for an emotionally illiterate idiot best friend who doesn't realize he's in love with the girl until it's too late (and just read @foxymoxynoona's very different but also amazing story around this concept, "Tell Me What Changed", highly recommend), but I am still holding out hope for some sort of a redemption arc for him. You're right that you do give us a lot of Namjoon's perspective already, and that unlike Taehyung one of the beautiful things about him is that he actually communicates his thoughts and feelings (imagine that!) to Y/N, so we don't have to guess what's going on inside his head. But I think Namjoon's character is someone who is so careful and thoughtful with their words, I'd be curious to get a peek into his raw, unfiltered thoughts. Like what was he really thinking after their steamy night together, on their date, when he was outwardly being so mature about letting her meet up with Taehyung, etc. But I think you answered some of those questions in this chapter as we saw Namjoon process the aftermath of seeing the kiss, so I perhaps spoke too soon! Also I live for the teaser updates almost as much as I do the new chapters. It sounds like Taehyung is hopefully read to be a bit more mature about things, but we'll have to see, I've been fooled before. I cannot believe we only have one chapter left!!! okay i have a LOT to say about taehyung. if you got this far and didn't expect me to come back with a "yes, but -" about him.... idk what to tell you because i've been doing this since the drop lol

"instead of trying to explain his feelings, he just got mean" so let's talk about this!!!! because you're right! he got nasty! something i tried to write into this taehyung is that he bites when he's scared, hurt, or embarrassed. and in that moment, when his life-long best friend physically pushes him away and curses at him and MEANS it, he's suddenly all three of those at once. like people aren't perfect, and i meant for this taehyung to be very not perfect. but it's real, right? i know people like this. they aren't bad people but they have to work on themselves to fight that instinct! and it's kind of a callback to the chapter when the guys were like "what if she moves on from you" and he was - scared, embarrassed to be called out, and he reacted this way too.

a step sideways for a second - let's examine what he's SAYING though!!!!!!! she told him "we're the same as we've always been". what does that actually mean? i'm still in love with you? i'm still following you around in hope that you'll want me? you're still my whole wide world? maybe taehyung didn't say it NICELY but at the end of the day he's RIGHT - she's lying. he's losing her in real time, watching it happen, and she's lying to his face about it! ANYWAY

back to the original thought - if you look again at the scene in the hallway, there's something i want to point out. Taehyung's nasty - to Namjoon. He is! Super nasty! I am not contesting that AT ALL. But - but. The second reader steps into the hallway all that bite vanishes on the spot and he goes straight to pleading with her to hear him out. even after he swallows the fact that he can't talk to her without an audience (the audience that he is FURIOUS at/about, that he sees as the reason he's losing His Person) once he's talking to HER all he does is beg her to talk alone and apologize again! he actually isn't nasty at all to READER in that moment! Only to Joonie!

As for "proof that the kiss wasn't..." I'm not gonna speak to that part - his motivation - until after next chapter. i promise it will be addressed IN FULL.

listen so we're far enough in the story that i can say this. it was VERY important to me when i wrote this story that the conflict was never between reader and namjoon. once they started shit, they were fine, they were a team, they were gonna handle shit together. in many, many ways, this is really the story of taehyung and reader since that's where the main conflict lies. the story of how their friendship has to navigate this part of their lives that would have been weird and difficult even if it hadn't been namjoon. i almost put tae also on the banner because it is, in my eyes, equally his story - but i didn't want to encourage anyone who thought reader should've picked him lolll.

okay this might be spoilers I guess!!! i just want to say... i don't know that i wrote taehyung a redemption arc? i think i'm leaning to say that i did not? and it's just kind of.... idk in real life not everyone gets redemption redemption? sometimes the best we can do is say 'wow i was wrong for that', apologize, and try to make little babystep changes in our life to try and do better going forward? and that doesn't feel like a ~redemption arc~ necessarily but maybe that's the best we can do sometimes? NOT THAT I'M SAYING THAT'S WHAT WILL HAPPEN FOR TAE >_>

Hello! I have a question abt ur amazing brilliant showstopping fic we will make this place our home, if you don’t mind :) I have been thinking—the Silmarillion, of course, is not really about the silmarils at all, but they are nevertheless a symbol of beauty lost and a vision of hope, while also bringing tragedy down on those who seek it. And I realized: if you view it through that lens, then maedhros’ silmaril is clearly Fingon (who was presumably lost to the sky), while elrond and elros’ silmaril is their parents (lost to the sea). In fact it’s a really beautiful and impressive parallel bc both Maedhros and elrond explicitly in-text hold up their respective "silmarils" as the things that make them keep going, while also being a symbol of an idyllic time now lost. So…does maglor have a silmaril? Does it have anything to do with the wife he was so upset at the mention of in Oroyanwë? Was she perhaps lost under the earth in some fashion (or perhaps to fire) to complete the parallel? Ofc this may be veering into spoiler territory but I wanna know if I’m right!!
