Favorite Disney Princess?
this would be a much easier question if they let Meg into the lineup. dangit. >:(
in terms of, like, favorite movie/adaptation, I have a lot of appreciation for the OG three -- Snow, Cinderella, and Aurora (...okay, yes, I was basically predisposed to being obsessed with Diasomnia). overall it's a toss-up, but Snow has my favorite design! she's so classically '30s but in, like, a technicolor way. it's great! ❄️
in terms of who I spent my entire childhood low-key obsessed with (and isn't Meg)...that would be Jasmine. no question. especially in the purple dress. I love me a snarky princess covered in organza and it's all her fault (and Meg's).

"Oh, my god," you whined softly, drying and polishing the rack of pint glasses in front of you as Rooster Bradshaw came strolling into the bar. "Fuck me," you sighed, barely able to keep your eyes off him as you fumbled one of the glasses.
"Yeah, you'd like that," Lizzy said with a laugh as she cut up some lemons before the Friday evening rush.
You didn't even know you spoke out loud. That's how much of a ridiculous crush you had on that big, sexy man. But he strolled right past you on his way to the pool table, barely even sparing a smile in your direction.
"I really would," you told her, watching the flex of his bicep as he high fived Hangman. It wasn't like your coworkers didn't know you had a thing for Rooster. You'd been working here for six months, and you'd been crushing on him since the first night he handed you his credit card, called you Babydoll, and asked you to start a tab for him. And it only got worse from there.
He still occasionally called you Babydoll. He never called Lizzy or Jasmine by a pet name. Just you. And you held onto that little glimmer of hope that it meant something. That maybe one day, he'd look at you as more than just one of the bartenders.
"What's wrong with you?" Jas asked, waving a hand in front of your face. But then she looked where you were staring, and she asked no further questions. "Oh. Rooster's here."
"He sure is," you added, forcing yourself to focus on the customer in front of you who looked impatient for a drink. As you finished pouring him some tequila shots, you looked up eagerly, and Rooster met your eyes. It had been a solid week since you'd seen him, and he just always looked so good.
You pushed the shot glasses across the bar and collected payment, trying to stay as cool as you could. Because Rooster was heading your way now in his snug vintage wash jeans and bright tropical shirt.
"Hey, Babydoll," he rasped, and your whole body clenched with need as your eyes fluttered closed. When you met his gaze again, he was leaning on the bar, closing in on your personal space.
"Hey, Rooster," you replied, sounding a lot calmer than you felt. When he smirked and looked down at your shirt, your heart pounded even harder. Your name was embroidered on your Hard Deck top, just above your breast. He knew your name, but he always called you Babydoll anyway. So was he just simply staring at your tits?
He cleared his throat and asked, "Get me a beer? Please?"
"Am I starting a tab?" you asked, reaching for one of the pint glasses you'd just finished cleaning. He responded by humming and sliding his credit card across the bar. He held eye contact with you while you expertly pulled the perfect pint of his preferred beer. The way his lips parted in a soft smile that matched yours, the twitch of his mustache...it all felt like foreplay that had been going on for months.
"Thanks," he muttered when your fingers brushed against his. He winked at you before turning back to the pool table, leaving you with his credit card and a desperate need inside of you.
As you set up his tab, Jasmine ran her hand along your lower back so you wouldn't bump her as she walked behind you. "Why don't you just invite him to join you in the bathroom and fuck him out of your system?" she joked.
"Because," you sighed, "that would only make me pine harder. Getting a small taste of him would be worse than nothing at all."
"Oof," Lizzy replied. "You're a mess over Bradshaw."
"I wonder how old he is?" Jas asked.
You hummed and shrugged, watching him drink his beer across the room while you shook a vodka martini. "Gotta be at least thirty five."
"Ask him," Lizzy said. "Next time he comes over, ask him how old he is."
Your cheeks were warming up. He was bending at the waist, playing pool, and you were taking way too long to serve this martini. "No. What if he thinks I'm being rude? Or worse...what if he catches on that I like him, and he shuts it all down."
"Fine," Jas said, uncapping some ciders. "Next time Rooster comes up, I'll wait on him."
But that really didn't sit well with you. Rooster always came to you for his drinks, anytime he could. You liked that about him. You liked his attention. Jas wouldn't pour his pints quite as well as you could. You knew so well how much foam to let spill and how close to the top of the glass you could get. You loved pulling those pints of lager for him. And you loved pouring him bourbon when he asked for that instead. You knew which brand and that he liked it neat. You didn't have to ask. He didn't have to tell you.
No, you should always be the one to wait on him. And when he finished his pint and strolled back up to the bar after Phoenix beat him at pool, you stepped in front of Jasmine. "I got it," you said confidently, and Jas walked away chuckling. This time Rooster eased himself down onto an empty stool between two women who looked at him like they'd just won the lottery. But his eyes were on you.
"Lager or bourbon?" you asked, and you were rewarded with those perfect, white teeth and his deep laughter.
"You got everyone's regular drinks memorized?" he asked as you reached for his empty glass. But he didn't let you take it. He kept one hand on the glass for a few beats while your fingers met his.
He was making you feel bold tonight. He was even more gorgeous up close like this, with a few gray hairs at his temples and some laugh lines around his eyes. His eyebrows shot up, and his smile faltered when you said, "No, Rooster. Not everybody's regular drinks. Only the hottest guys. Lager or bourbon?"
He grunted and swallowed hard. "Dealer's choice." Then he finally let you take the empty glass, and it was a good thing, too, because you needed to turn away from him. You took a few extra seconds to reach for the bottle of Wild Turkey. Your nipples were hard, your skin felt like it was on fire, and you were turned on just talking to him.
When you turned back to face him, his gaze was neutral again. You uncapped the bourbon and poured it for him, neat.
"Thanks," he murmured, moving like he was standing to leave.
And then your mouth worked before your brain, and you said, "Anytime, Sexy."
You watched him pause halfway out of his seat, his eyes dipping down to watch you nervously lick your lips. If he left for the pool table, you really were going to have to let Jasmine wait on him next time. Embarrassment flooded your veins, leaving you uncomfortable with a sheen of cold sweat on your neck. But he eased himself back down onto the stool and kept his eyes on you. "Alright. Babydoll."
You laughed softly, pulling out some glasses for the woman who wanted two cosmos. Rooster sipped his bourbon and kept his focus on your face and your body. He grunted as you took a shaker in each hand, and as you poured them out at the same time, he asked, "What's your favorite drink?"
He was hyper focused on you now, leaning in just the slightest bit further as you served both pink drinks. "To have or to make?" you asked, taking more orders.
"Both. I want you to tell me both."
You smiled at him, and he matched it right away. "Nothing is more fun to make than an expertly crafted Bloody Mary, but those are best as breakfast cocktails."
He nodded, accepting your answer, and then he asked, "And what do you order when you go out?"
You shrugged. "I don't often get to have someone make my drinks for me, but when I do, I usually order a Manhattan."
"A Manhattan?" he asked, balking at your answer. "How fuckin' old are you, Babydoll? People in their seventies drink those things!"
"I'm twenty three," you told him, laughing so hard you were doubled over. He looked delighted when you were finally able to stand up straight again. Your smile was still bright as you leaned on the bar until you were only two feet from his face and softly asked, "How old are you?"
The song on the jukebox changed as Rooster rubbed his mustache and said, "I'm a lot older than you are." His little self deprecating laugh just made you want to get closer to him. He looked amused by you and also resigned to the fact that he thought his age was something you wouldn't like about him.
"How old?" you asked again, biting your lip.
His brown eyes found your mouth, and you thought for a moment that he was going to kiss you. Oh god, you wanted him to, so badly. "I'm thirty eight."
You hummed softly as Phoenix came to stand next to him, and you started to get her favorite kind of beer ready.
"You coming back to the pool table?" she asked Rooster, but he just grunted something about needing to finish his bourbon first. When you handed Phoenix her drink, Rooster told you to put it on his tab, and he looked relieved when she walked away.
"Thirty eight," you said, watching him down the remainder of the drink in his glass. "That's why you're so good at flirting? You've had time to practice?"
He coughed a little bit as he set his empty glass down on the bar top. "Babydoll, I'm fifteen years older than you."
"So?" you asked, pulling another perfect pint for him. "You don't want to flirt with me?"
"Now wait, that's not what I'm saying at all. Just surprised you don't want to flirt with someone your own age."
"I don't like boys my age," you told him fearlessly. "I like men."
"Oh, hell," he groaned, taking a long sip of his fresh beer. "Just look at you. You're gonna get yourself in trouble if you don't find a nice guy."
He looked flustered now. You were making Lieutenant Bradshaw flustered. His cheeks were pink, and he kept sipping his beer, avoiding your gaze. He looked adorable and boyish, and you didn't know quite what to do about this. Or about the fact that talking to him was making you wet.
"Hmmm," you hummed, and his eyes met yours immediately. "Are you a nice guy?"
"Fuck," he groaned, adjusting himself in his seat. "Sometimes."
"You're always pretty sweet to me," you whispered. "What's it like when you're not a nice guy, Rooster?"
You wanted to touch him for more than a few fleeting seconds. After six months, you thought you were going to. His long, thick fingers were just resting there in front of you. But then Fanboy came to the bar and asked you to close out his tab. And then you had to help Lizzy pour a massive round of shots. And then when Rooster asked you to close out his tab as well, you did it with a pout on your lips.
As you slid his credit card, the slip he needed to sign, and a pen across the bar, he smiled at you. "Aww, come on. Don't give me that look. You know how it is."
"I don't, actually," you replied, watching him sign the credit card receipt for you. "How is it?"
He looked up and studied your face. "You're too perfect to mess with, Babydoll. Too young. Too pretty to touch."
You chewed on your lip and squeezed your thighs together. You had to know. Your voice was soft and unsure as you asked him, "Do you wanna touch me?"
He didn't meet your eyes again as he scribbled on the receipt and then left it and the pen for you to collect. He stood up from his stool, gave a quick salute to his friends and then headed for the door.
You moaned helplessly. You blew it. He thought you were just a kid, and you never stood a chance. And now he'd probably never even look at you again.
But when you picked up the receipt, you read one word written there under his name. YES.
-----------------------------
When you strolled into the bar the next evening, you got right to work. You had no idea if Rooster would show up, and you weren't sure if you even wanted to see him or not. You'd torn off the bottom of his credit card slip and taken it home with you. That little scrap of paper on which he'd admitted he wanted to touch you was hanging on your bedroom mirror. But it was the fact that he was probably never going to touch you, even though he was more than welcome to, that was making you frustrated.
"What's wrong with you?" Lizzy asked as she arrived a minute later. "You look hot."
You glanced down at your Hard Deck top, denim skirt and beat up sneakers. "I look the same as I always do," you told her, continuing to dump buckets of ice into the cooler behind the bar.
"Maybe it's your makeup," she replied. "I think you're hoping Rooster comes in tonight."
You rolled your eyes. "I always hope he's going to be here. He's pretty. I like looking at him."
"I'm not going to dispute that," Lizzy said as she cut up the lemons again tonight. "But I think you actually like him. Not just the way he looks."
You didn't respond, because it didn't matter. You'd keep the flirtation to a minimum the next time you saw him. The last thing you wanted to do was make him think you were desperate. He wanted to touch you? He could go right ahead. But you weren't about to beg him to.
As the bar got crowded, Jasmine showed up as well. The three of you got into a nice rhythm. A lot of the aviators were back again tonight, and you were serving them drink after drink. And then it was like you knew he was there before you saw him. After you handed a couple their drinks, your eyes automatically shifted toward the doorway, finding it filled with Rooster's big body. And he was already looking at you.
"You want me to wait on him?" Lizzy asked you softly as Rooster approached the bar.
But you just shook your head and reached for two different glasses, holding them up as he took a seat in front of you. When he pointed to the pint glass, he said, "Lager. Please."
"Sure," you replied, setting the smaller glass aside and pulling a perfect pint of beer for him. "Start a tab?"
"Nah, I'm not staying long tonight," he told you as you placed the beer in front of him without meeting his gaze. "Just wanted to see you and get one drink."
"Mmkay," you said. But when you pulled your hand away, he reached for it.
Stunned, you let him take your hand in his large one, and then he asked, "Does this mean you're done flirting with the old man now? You got it all out of your system yesterday?" His eyes were guarded, cautious, and he held onto your hand, expecting an answer.
You shook your head slowly, running your fingertips along his rough calluses. "I was just getting started."
A crooked little smile danced across his lips. "I am too old for you, Babydoll. And it's a shame."
Your heart jumped in your chest, hand still tangled up with his on the bar top. You could hear Lizzy and Jasmine working extra hard to take all the orders, trying to give you a moment here. So you smiled back. "You think you're old. So what? You expect me to call you Daddy?"
"Shit," he grunted, squirming a bit in his seat but keeping your hand in his.
When he didn't respond right away, you leaned a little closer, one eyebrow raised. "I asked you a question."
His eyes were wide, and that little grin was back. "I could be a... Daddy. Maybe for the right girl."
You pulled your hand free of his and planted both palms on the bar top and leaned closer to him. "And just how is a girl supposed to know if she's the right one?"
But his cheeks were tinged with pink once again, and he looked flustered. It was flattering, such an ego boost. You were the one who made him like this. But he wasn't responding now, and you needed to help Jas pour some chardonnay for the impatient ladies at the end of the bar. You sighed and said, "Well, I work until eleven. So just think on it."
But he wouldn't let you leave. Rooster reached for your hand again, but this time he was the one leaning closer. "The right girl would be one that I can't seem to stay away from. You said you work until eleven?"
"Yes," you replied softly, his large hand completely covering yours on the bar top.
"Right. Then ask me again if I want to start a tab."
You pressed your lips together, trying not to giggle. "Would you like to start a tab, Rooster?"
"You're damn right I would, Babydoll. I can't get enough of you. Think I'll just hang here until eleven. If that's okay with you."
This time you did giggle. "Yeah. That's okay with me." As he pulled his wallet out and handed you his credit card, you asked, "Bourbon or lager?"
"Make it a Manhattan."
"I've been told these drinks are for people in their seventies," you said with a straight face as you reached for the vermouth, secretly pleased he wanted your favorite. "You're only thirty eight."
"Listen," he said, watching you fix his drink. "You said you don't like boys your own age. And maybe I'm a little older than you, but all the parts are still in working order."
You felt giddy. When you set the glass down in front of him, you couldn't help but ask, "Does that mean you'll let me take you for a test drive?"
You had to work to keep an innocent expression on your face as Bradley's blush deepened. He took a sip of his Manhattan, licked his lips and said, "I don't do test drives anymore."
"Oh," you said with a little pout. "You don't?"
"No," he replied a bit cautiously, taking another sip of his cocktail. "I'm getting too old for that. I like at least a little bit of commitment from the driver. Don't wanna feel like I'll get dinged up."
You shivered at his words, mesmerized by his voice and his demeanor as he looked down into his glass. Could you do more than a test drive? Of course you'd thought about it. You were crushing so hard, you'd imagined what it would be like if he was your boyfriend. But you'd barely even let yourself hope for a one night stand. Even that much seemed too good to be true.
"Oh," you said again in a softer tone. When he glanced up, his dark eyes were no longer guarded, and he was looking at you warily. Without giving it much thought, you pushed up onto the bar and leaned until he met you halfway in a kiss. It was just the softest brush of your lips against his. But the sound he made and the prickle of his mustache on your skin left you wide eyed and out of breath as you eased yourself back down. "No. You're too handsome to get all dinged up. I'm a great driver."
"Yeah," he said with a little laugh. "I can already tell. And that's what I was afraid of last night. There's just something about you, isn't there?"
"You have a thing for me?" you asked him, gripping the edge of the bar top. "Because I definitely have a thing for you." You had stopped breathing now, and your heart was pounding in your ears.
With a little grin, he said, "Yeah, I do, Babydoll."
"Well, what are we going to do about it, Daddy?" you asked with another giggle as Jasmine thrust a bottle of prosecco into your hands.
"We're going to go out my Bronco the minute your shift is over. We'll figure it out there."
You nearly dropped the bottle when you met his eyes. "A quickie?" you asked softly, but you were sure he heard you.
"No," he groaned, running his big palm along his mouth and shaking his head at you. Then he finished the rest of his Manhattan in one gulp and pushed the glass your way. "Nothing about this is gonna be quick. I'd like to take my time, especially with someone as perfect as you."
You sounded like a feral animal, thighs clenched together and gripping the bottle of prosecco with both hands.
"Shit," Rooster grunted. "You're making it hard to just sit here, Babydoll."
"Hard?" you asked with a grin.
"You'll find out."
After another embarrassing noise, you had to excuse yourself to the other end of the bar for a few minutes. Jesus, you needed to keep your job, after all. But his eyes followed you everywhere. Any time you looked his way, he was transfixed on you. When you pulled a pint of lager and set it down for him, he whispered, "Thanks, Babydoll," sending shivers along your skin again.
"Anything else you want, Rooster?" you asked him sweetly.
His gaze dipped down to your chest before returning to your face. "Nothing I'm allowed to have inside the bar."
"At least not when we're open to the public, sir," you replied, giving him a little salute that had him reaching for you across the bar. But you managed to skirt away from his grasp with another laugh.
"You coming back over here?" he asked between sips of his beer. "I didn't get a chance to ask you if you'll make me a Bloody Mary for breakfast tomorrow morning."
"Breakfast?"
"Yeah. Breakfast," he confirmed with a smile. "At my place?"
You pressed your lips together to keep from screaming. "So since this isn't a test drive, what are my options, exactly? Am I looking at a lease? A financing package?"
"I'm sure you'll know what you want to do when the time comes. And I'm going to need you to stop saying package right now."
"Just go," Jasmine told you suddenly. "It's after ten, and you're useless. You and he have had hours of foreplay already. Go."
"Are you sure?" you asked, already reaching for your bag and Rooster's credit card.
"Yes," Lizzy confirmed. Then she looked at Rooster who was already standing up and told him, "Pay your tab next week. And get her out of here."
"My pleasure," he rasped, and you practically ran for the opening in the bar, ducking underneath the counter. And when you stood up again, he was right there. He was so tall and broad, and with a coy smile, you slipped his credit card into the pocket of his jeans. When your fingers trailed closer to his zipper, he grabbed your wrist gently.
"Just checking for myself to make sure all the parts are working," you mused as he raised your hand up to his lips and kissed your knuckles gently. In the middle of the crowded bar. Then he wrapped your fingers around the back of his neck, and you pulled him down for a kiss.
He kept it pretty clean as he promised, "Wait until we get outside."
"Now," you demanded, pulling him along behind you by his shirt collar. As soon as the cool, night air met your hot skin, he had your bare thighs in his hands, and your back was pressed against the side of the building. "Oh my god," you gasped. Your body was pinned between the siding and Rooster, and the rough denim of his jeans was rubbing you deliciously through your underwear.
"I told you I'm not going to rush," he whispered, pressing into you as you held onto his shoulders. He teased you with that delicious mustache and his lips on your neck before he kissed your ear and said, "Now, I'm gonna need verbal confirmation, Babydoll."
"Yes!" you nearly shouted. "Everything!"
He chuckled next to your ear and asked, "You wanna fuck in my Bronco?"
"Yes," you moaned so loudly, you were sure Jasmine and Lizzy could hear you.
"I don't have any condoms with me," he said, looking you in the eye. "Do we need them?"
"No, I'm clean, and I take the pill," you said, leaning in to kiss his lips. He tasted you, running the tip of his tongue along yours before pulling his lips away.
You whined for him, but he was undeterred. "I need you to tell me that you'll come home with me and make me that Bloody Mary in the morning while I make you breakfast."
He already wanted you to sleep over with him. He wanted to make you breakfast. He didn't want to have a one night stand. He was waiting for an answer. "You'll have to let me know if you want it traditional or extra spicy."
"Fuck," he grunted before his lips came crashing against yours. His big hands held your thighs wide as he rolled his hips gently against you.
"Rooster," you moaned against his lips as he let you gently slide down his body until your feet hit the ground.
"Please call me Bradley," he whispered as he wrapped his hand around your waist and quickly guided you across the dark parking lot.
When you saw the Bronco, you ran the last little bit hand in hand. His laughter mixed with yours as he unlocked the door. "Come on, Bradley," you sang, looking up at him over your shoulder before climbing up onto the driver's seat on your hands and knees. "Do you wanna touch me?"
"Babydoll," he moaned, keeping you still as he guided your skirt up over your butt and around your waist. You cried out as he kissed the backs of your thighs. He slipped his fingers inside the thin strips of lace fabric that made up your thong, and you couldn't ever remember being this turned on before.
"Bradley!" you gasped loudly when his lips and tongue met the globe of your rear end. He slid the lace to one side and kissed your slit from behind until you were panting. You might cum. You might actually have an orgasm on your hands and knees with your ass in his face. Boys your own age couldn't get you like this no matter what they did.
He gently swatted at you before palming your ass and saying, "Get in the backseat."
Oh yes. He was about to show you what else his age and experience had to offer, and you were already shaking with need. "Yes, sir," you whispered, and you heard him mutter a string of obscenities as you scrambled onto the backseat. As he slid the driver's seat forward and climbed in the back, you carefully pulled your underwear down your thighs. He helped you and then pressed the lace to his nose before pulling you onto his lap.
"I've thought about this so many times when I touched myself," you blurted out as he teased your clit with his thumb. "Bronco sex," you whined, head tipped back, enjoying the perfect pressure he applied to your body. "Bronco sex with Bradley Bradshaw."
"Forgive me, Babydoll," he whispered, voice harsh. "But last night was the first time I jerked off thinking about you. Too afraid to go there before that, thinking there was no way in hell you'd want me."
"I want you," you swore, meeting his eyes in the near darkness. If anyone else was out in the parking lot, you couldn't see them. And you didn't care if they could see you, because he was slipping one thick finger inside you. "Wanted you for so long. Months and months."
"Jesus, you're tight," he groaned, sliding your snug top up to your chest as you rode his hand. "And you skipped a bra tonight like a good girl."
"Bradley," you gasped as he cupped your bare breast in his big hand. He lazily swirled his thumb around your nipple before bending to take you into his mouth. "Oh my god!"
Your orgasm was already building. You had only been in the backseat with him for a few minutes, and he was still fully clothed. But now you were riding two fingers, and his thumb was delicious against your clit. As he licked and sucked on your breast, you started to clench.
"Damn," he muttered against your body. "Already?"
You just nodded before guiding his lips up to yours, and you came as you moaned loudly against his mouth. "Bradley." You raked your fingers up into his hair and kissed him. He was hard through his jeans, and when he withdrew his fingers, you felt them trail up your body.
"You're so pretty," he whispered, pulling your top over your head. "You'll look even better in my bed."
You wanted him to fuck you here first, but you'd be lying if you said you hadn't already thought about his place and what he might make you for breakfast. And as you sat straddled his hips in nothing but your skirt up around your waist and your sneakers on your feet, you felt adored by him. He was kissing a trail down between your breasts and rubbing his thumbs along your thighs.
"Bradley," you whined, rubbing your pussy against his jeans, already feeling a little wrung out. "Please."
The street light at the corner reflected in his eyes, letting you know he was looking at your face as he raised his hips and unzipped his jeans. And a few seconds later, they were down around his knees along with his underwear. Your lips met his as you felt the velvety soft tip of his cock resting against your core. As you kissed him and tugged on his hair, he throbbed for you. And suddenly you weren't in such a hurry either.
"Let me make you feel good," he whispered, and as you slid down around him, Bradley guided you with his hands on your hips. "You're so wet, my god."
"You always make me wet, even when you just talk to me at the bar," you admitted softly, your voice shaking as he kept pushing deeper inside you. "Oh. You're huge."
"Am I hurting you?" he asked, pausing where he was. But you just shook your head and rolled your hips slowly until he was completely inside you. He kissed you softly as you gasped and got used to him. "I don't wanna hurt this sweet pussy," he whispered next to your ear. "Perfect."
And then he brushed his knuckles along your clit and leaned his head back, watching as you rode him. "Take it off," you gasped, and he let you push his shirt down his arms and pull his tank over his head. You explored his broad chest with your hands and his shoulders with your lips. He was warm and rough and oh so sweet. His chest hairs brushed against your nipples as he guided your hips with his hands.
"Bradley?"
"Hmm?"
You wrapped your hands around his neck and kissed his lips. "Fuck. So good." He felt delicious, his big hands everywhere, sliding up to span your back and keep you close. He fucked you in long, fluid movements that just got faster and faster. His pubes were coarse against your clit. His little grunts and words of praise kept you going as you started squeezing around his cock.
"Don't stop, Babydoll," he coaxed as you got closer. When his lips met your sweat slick chest again, and he pulled your nipple between his teeth, you came for him.
"Oh!"
As your legs shook and your fingers went loose in his hair, Bradley fucked up into you until you were screaming his name.
"Good girl," he grunted, and suddenly you were on your back along the seat with your legs spread wide. He fucked you with long, hard strokes that made your tits bounce and prolonged your orgasm. His lips were everywhere, and you were surrounded by his voice in the dark, holding onto his biceps as he came inside you.
You scrambled to get your mouth on his as you both caught your breath together, and as your heartbeat started to return to normal, you pressed a dozen soft kisses to his lips, one after the next. "Will you take me home?"
His hands stilled on your thigh and your neck. "Yeah," he said with a tone of sadness. "I can drop you off at home."
When he started pulling away without so much as another kiss, you reached for him, keeping him firmly inside you. "No, no. Take me home with you, Bradley."
"My place?" His voice was still soft, but it sounded hopeful now.
"Of course," you reassured him, and his kisses returned. "I'll spend the whole morning tomorrow making you Bloody Marys with little heart shaped garnishes."
He smiled against your lips before he said, "I'd like that, Babydoll."
---------------------------
The Hard Deck was pretty busy the following evening, and you were so physically exhausted from your night with Bradley, you could barely keep up. The Sunday crowd was keeping you on your toes, and Jasmine wouldn't stop asking you how your night ended.
"Did you go home with him? You did. I can tell," she said as you just shrugged at all of her questions. "Are you going to see him again? Come on! Tell me!"
When you saw movement on the other side of the bar top, Jasmine's eyes went wide. "Hey, babydoll." The deep rumble of his voice was so distinct, you didn't need to look at him to know it was Bradley. He had whispered dirty, sweet things in your ears all night and all morning. You knew the sound of his voice by heart now.
When your eyes met his, you reached for a pint glass and filled it with his favorite beer. "Hey, Bradley. Wanna start a tab?" you asked with a soft smile.
You giggled as he reached for your hand and tugged you closer. Then he leaned across the bar and kissed you as his nose brushed against yours. "For you? Always. And don't close the tab until your shift ends."

now i’m next to you ..
Tumblr media
florist!jeonghan x f!surgeon!reader, 5.3k words fluff, angst, reader’s family sucks, hurt/comfort, slow burn (?), mentions of surgery obviously, a little suggestive right at the end, part of waves will take us away series !
being a surgeon was no doubt tough, and you definitely found the work rewarding enough as it is, but the mysterious flowers left on your desk (a scribbled heart in place of a name of who it’s from) are definitely a plus too
“hi mrs park, this is the bouquet you wanted” jeonghan smiled at the elderly lady, as far as he knew, she was visiting her granddaughter that had recently given birth, “congratulations, for you and your granddaughter”
“oh thank you jeonghan! you’re always such a kind young man, sometimes i wish i had someone like you in my family” jeonghan laughed happily at her comment, cheeks flushing a cool pink. he was somewhat used to it at this point but it always made him sheepish.
jeonghan owned a flower shop that was a ten minute drive from the hospital. because of this, he got orders often delivered there. he knows he could just hire someone to do deliveries, it’d make things a whole lot easier for him, but the feeling of being able to do this for people himself always leave a warmth in his chest, especially when they pass him later to say how much they loved his flowers.
“hey jeonghan!” jeonghan looked around to find seungcheol and joshua waving him over, he smiled before walking to meet them.
“another order?” seungcheol asked taking a sip of his coffee.
“yep, you guys on break?”
“uh huh, and before you ask, no yn isn’t. she’s in the surgery room right now” joshua told him, a small smirk tugging at his lips, a matching one working it’s way on seungcheol’s too.
“shouldn't you both be texting your girlfriends or something?” jeonghan groaned, “thanks for stealing my two best friends by the way, really appreciate it”
“look maybe that’s what you need to finally make a move on yn. you’ve been trying to for what? ten months?” seungcheol told him pointedly.
“nine months and eighteen days, but hey who’s counting?” jeonghan deadpanned, “besides, what makes you guys think i even want to date yn? huh?”
his two friends stared at him unimpressed for a few seconds. he’d spent the better part of the last year sticking around the hospital longer, even if his deliveries were done, just so he could spend a little more time with you.
“okay i do want to date her.. but that’s got nothing to do with you two clowns!” jeonghan hissed. “and the two of you better not say anything because she’s headed here right now” speeding up when he caught sight of you. “yn! hi! how’ve you been?” a smile plastering on his face automatically.
you smiled at this sight of jeonghan with your two work friends, joining them quickly.
“jeonghan hi! i’ve been good thanks, just a stressful day, how about you?” you smiled at him, the stresses of the day melting away with ease.
“stressful?” jeonghan frowned. it was clear from your voice how the day had taken a toll on you, “good thing i know the perfect thing for you when you’re stressed! are you free right now?” he whispered the last part to you, grinning when you nodded, immediately dragging you somewhere.
jeonghan had taken you to his car, ensuring you the entire way that it’d be worth while.
“okay, close your eyes” jeonghan cooed causing you to roll your eyes, making an exaggerated show of covering your eyes with your palms. “you can open them now”
when you opened them, jeonghan held a beautiful small bouquet of jasmines in his hands toward you. “they’re known to be stress reliefs, thought you might like them”
jaw slightly agape, you stared at jeonghan in awe for a few seconds, “they’re so pretty jeonghan, thank you” you told him gratefully taking the flowers from his hands. slowly, the guilt started to creep up in you, “but really- you didn’t have to! here let me pay you-”
“it’s fine, don’t worry about it. i hope you like them yn” he told you warmly, fondness swimming in his eyes.
clearing your throat you told him it’s about time you head back in, the both of you walking back to the hospital together. when you went back to your office, jeonghan headed back to his two friends.
“guys this sucks” he told them dejectedly, frown pulling at his soft features. “she’s totally not into me. like at all”
“han, you’re being dramatic. she definitely likes you, she literally always waits for you to get here” joshua reassured him, rubbing a hand on his shoulder for good measure.
“no shua you don’t get it! she likes me but just as a friend- which i’m okay with don’t get me wrong, but i know she doesn’t like me that way and-”
“dude you sound like you’re in middle school, just ask her out and if she says no she says no, nothing you can do about that” seungcheol told him calmly, taking a sip of his coffee.
jeonghan glared at him before hitting the back of seungcheol’s head (not too hard but it still made seungcheol whine). “you’re in no position to tell me anything mr waited three months to confess to his patient and was the reason she almost had a broken leg forever”
“you can’t talk either mr fake dated a girl and couldn’t confess for two months because he was too scared” jeonghan said pointedly to joshua after hearing his laugh, “neither of you are in any position to say that i should just ask her out and that it’s simple”
joshua laughed at his friend’s pout once again before patting his back before he and seungcheol headed back to work.
Tumblr media
“so just take it easy until the next appointment and then we’ll see what needs to be done from there” you smiled at your patient. she was a high school student and had a surgery for her elbow. “it’ll take roughly 6 to 8 weeks to heal fully but it all just depends on your body’s ability. take it easy at rehab too, don’t push yourself too much alright?”
“got it, thank you so much doctor” the young teenager smiled at you. she laid back against the headboard of the hospital bed while she waited for her parents to come pick her up in an hour, her eyes drifting around the room and landing on the bouquet of jasmines you left by your computer.
“those are really pretty” she said, you followed her eyes to see she was talking about the flowers jeonghan had given you earlier.
you laughed a ‘thank you’ before thinking for a few seconds, “i’ll be right back, just press the button if you need anything, okay?”
when you were out of the room you quickly pulled out your phone, fingers searching for jeonghan’s contact. “hey jeonghan, is it alright if i can place an order really quick? this high school girl just had a surgery and i was wondering if i could just get her a few” you trailed off at the end.
“sure! i’m at the shop right now so just give me around 30 minutes? how long till she leaves?” jeonghan told you from the other side of the phone.
“her parents are picking her up in an hour, thanks so much jeonghan”
“no problem. i’ll see you in a bit” you heard before the tone for the call ending.
you headed back inside, going over the last of the paperwork to get the girl discharged, all you needed was the parents’ signature. you decided it’d be best to reassure her for now, she wouldn’t say it, but you could tell she was nervous. you told her more information on how she should care for herself over the next few weeks.
Tumblr media
“jeonghan do you want to hang out later- why do you look so stressed out?” jeonghan’s younger friend and employee seungkwan looked at him confused.
“huh? oh a friend called and said they needed some flowers quickly, short notice” jeonghan mumbled not meeting his friends’ eyes.
seungkwan eyed him suspiciously, the gears turning in his head, “thought you hated when people asked on short notice? don’t we have a whole policy that we reject it?” seungkwan said with mirth in his voice.
“we do? seungkwan you should stop being so sensitive you can’t turn people away just because it’s short notice” jeonghan said turning to him, teasing lilt in his voice.
“what- you’re the one who came up with it not me!” seungkwan said to his boss, voice growing loud, “whatever, i just wanted to make fun of you for being so in love with yn that you’re doing all this for her”
“who said it was for yn?” jeonghan mumbled while his eyes turned back to the bouquet he was making.
“oh please! it’s obvious! who else would you go through all this trouble for?” seungkwan laughed.
jeonghan ignored his friend, turning all his undivided attention to the bouquet. it mainly consisted of yellow roses in the center with a few pink tulips and sunflowers around them. it was wrapped with a white ribbon, a small tag attached with the card reading ‘get well soon! it must have hurt ㅠㅠ please take care of yourself so you can feel better quickly :)’ truth be told jeonghan wasn’t doing this entirely just because you asked but because he genuinely wanted to do something for the poor girl. a surgery when she’s pretty young couldn’t have been easy and she’s braver than half the people he knows. picking up a small chocolate box from the convenience store next door, he set it in his car’s passenger seat with the bouquet. jeonghan sent you a quick text letting you know he was on his way before he turned his playlist on and headed to the hospital.
Tumblr media
“yn!” jeonghan shouted before running to you, “here you go! she hasn’t left yet right?” he doubled over catching his breath.
you laughed a little at his antics before letting him know she was still waiting, “hey why don’t you come with me to give them to her?”
“are you sure?”
“yeah don’t worry about it. come on let’s go!” you lead the way back to the room.
when you returned with jeonghan you saw that she was still just waiting, scrolling through her phone looking bored out of her mind. you felt bad and realised you could’ve gotten that new junior doctor to keep her company.
“oh hi you’re back! with..” she trailed off when she saw jeonghan but her unasked question was answered when she saw the gift bag in his hands. jeonghan handed the bag over to her, smiling at her reaction to the flowers.
“these are so pretty! doctor your boyfriend’s really talented!” she giggled observing the flowers more. she was so entranced by them that she didn’t notice the awkward atmosphere engulfing the room when you quickly tried to deny what she was implying.
you were cut off by the message saying that the parents were here and were too distracted to see jeonghan leave, and you were too distracted to see the disappointment on his face.
after everything with the girl was settled, you headed back to your office. tired after the long day, you settled back into your chair stretching your limbs. you smiled to yourself when you spotted what was on your desk. it was a messy collection of a few flowers, there was no delicacy to it at all and you know that jeonghan would look annoyed at whoever ‘crafted’ (although he’d probably argue this wasn’t even a craft) the poorly put together flowers. there wasn’t even an official tag with them, it was usually just a torn off sticky note that you could get at the front desk. and as per routine, all that was on the note was a scribbled heart and a ‘good luck for tomorrow’.
for a little over half a year you’ve been getting these, but you still don’t know who it’s from. you don’t even know who in the staff delivers them to your desk because it can’t be a patient or visitor, they don’t have access. it never fails to put a smile on your face and you always secretly hope they’d give you some hint of who was sending them. you put them in your bag, heading to your car so that you could go to dinner with a few of your friends.
Tumblr media
“you look extra happy today” your friend sooyoung teased you, giggling at how the warmth quickly spread across your face at what she said.
“it’s obvious why, did your secret admirer send you the flowers again today?” seulgi added, “what were they today, huh?”
“shut up guys” you groaned, “it’s not a secret admirer, it’s just someone being sweet and appreciating how much surgeons do! is that so wrong?”
“oh yeah definitely” nayeon teased, “someone would definitely get you flowers everyday just because they appreciated how good of a surgeon you are”
you sighed as all three of them burst into a fit of giggles before nayeon spoke up again, “so who is it?”
“isn’t it obvious?” seulgi said before you could answer, “it’s obviously jeonghan. who else is at the hospital and has relation to flowers?”
you shook your head at her reasoning, “it can’t be jeonghan. i thought it was at first too but the flowers are way too messy to be jeonghan’s. i’ve seen the flowers he keeps buried in the trunk of his car and even they’re more put together than the ones that the mystery person gives me”
“true” sooyoung spoke up, “we’ve seen these flowers, they’re all uneven. they look like they were taken from someone’s garden. i doubt jeonghan would give yn flowers that ugly if he liked her”
“hey!” you shouted, suddenly feeling offended on behalf of who was gifting you the flowers, “don’t call them ugly, they’re sweet” you pouted.
sooyoung laughed before hugging your side, “guys she’s already defending her secret offender, it’s so cute!”
you groaned again, burying your head in your hands while your friends continued to make theories on who was sending you the flowers. when you thought back to how seulgi thought it was jeonghan giving you the flowers, you remembered that you never paid him for the flowers from earlier. jumping, you quickly found his contact and called him.
“jeonghan! you didn’t let me pay for the flowers” you pouted though he couldn’t see it.
“oh so you- oh wait you mean the ones for that teenager?” he got rid of the teasing lilt immediately, although you were a little curious what he was going to say at first. “eh, don’t worry about it”
“jeonghan i owe you so much for the amount of flowers you’ve covered me, you can’t keep doing this it’ll end up driving you out of business”
the sounds of jeonghan’s soft laugh melted throughout your ear, “i told you yn, don’t worry about it. i like doing it for you..” the call stayed quiet for a few seconds, almost like jeonghan had something else to say, “uh i’m gonna go to bed now so i’ll talk to you tomorrow, alright? i’ve gotta finish a few orders for a wedding so i’ve got an early night”
“oh of course, sorry to have kept you up” you quickly told him, “but remember i’m going to pay you back!” you ended the call with both of you wishing the other good night.
for the rest of the night, you ignored your friends’ teasing in favour of stuffing your face full with the expensive meal at the restaurant you guys decided to splurge for, mind thinking about the mystery person sending you flowers.
Tumblr media
at the next day at work, nothing much happened. you were battling a pounding headache from the night before and luckily you didn’t have much to do today besides rounds.
you stopped by the staff room that seungcheol and joshua are usually at, oddly enough jeonghan wasn’t with them today. ‘oh right he said he was busy with the orders for that wedding’. you waved at them before finishing off your rounds, if you were lucky, you’d be able to finish early and spend the rest of your shift relaxing while you hoped for your headache to subside.
that’s exactly what you did, checking up on some of your patients recovering after surgery or doing their rehabilitation before sitting in your office. you looked at the clock, 12:36- almost time for lunch. your eyes widened before you quickly checked your bag. in your rush to get out this morning and because of the headache, you never packed your lunch for today.
groaning, you searched for any places nearby that you could go to for lunch. satisfied when you found a cafe that was only a ten minute drive away, you put it into your navigator app.
when you got there, you quickly dismissed your original plan of getting the food to go and taking it back to the hospital. the cafe was right next to a park, so the tables outside the shop were in the park itself. the ambiance and sounds of nature was beautiful on a day like today, it was sunny but not too hot to the point where you were sweating buckets.
you took your food and sat at one table, taking a few pictures to remind yourself to bring your friends back here someday.
“yn?” a familiar voice drew your attention. “it is you!” you voice took the seat across from you.
“jeonghan? hi! how’d the orders for the wedding go?” you asked him, happy to see a familiar face.
he smiled at how you remembered what he had planned for today, “they loved them, thankfully. other than that i didn’t really have much to do today and there wasn’t any orders for the hospital either so i decided to just hop by the cafe”
you nodded as you listened quietly to him, taking sips of your coffee in between your sounds of acknowledgment, “yeah i don’t really have much to do either, but i’ve still gotta head back to the hospital when my lunch breaks done. this place is really pretty though i need to come back here more often” you sighed happily, pointing towards the beautiful park.
jeonghan hummed, agreeing with you. the two of you spent the rest of your break talking with each other, happily passing the time by. you checked your watch and saw you had about twenty minutes left of your break.
you bid jeonghan goodbye before driving yourself back to the hospital making a beeline straight to your office. oddly enough the flowers were there already, one day you were going to find out who’s behind it all you swear.
your ears perked up at the sound of your phone notification until you internally groaned when you saw who it was.
you loved your parents, you swear you did, but sometimes you couldn’t deal with their ridiculing. nothing could ever satisfy them- not even being a great surgeon! as soon as you did one thing that they wanted, here came another expectation they wanted you to meet. it was ridiculous! you weren’t a teenager anymore you were an adult, but they didn’t understand that.
you sighed as you opened up the text from your mom, feeling a little bad because all she just asked you to join her for a family dinner. you immediately texted her a ‘sure, can’t wait to see you all!’ after making sure your schedule was free that day.
Tumblr media
the day the dinner rolled around, you did your best to make sure you looked great. it wasn’t rare for your family to ‘poke fun’ at how you looked, whether that be at how you generally looked or how you were dressed.
satisfied with your appearance, you grabbed your perfume, dabbing some onto your neck, collarbones and wrists. checking to make sure you had everything, all you had to do now was wait for the taxi to come pick you up to take you to your parents’ house.
most of your family was there, it’d really been a long time since you’d seen most of your aunts, uncles and cousins. you weren’t exactly sure what the occasion for all of this was when you agreed to come but you learnt it was to celebrate your younger sister’s engagement.
you hugged her, happy and surprised. you both giggled like teenagers when she showed you the ring and you hugged her again, truly so happy for her.
when the excitement died down a little, your parents started to nag you with questions. “yn when are you planning on dating someone?” your mother asked you, “your sister’s two years younger than you and she’s already engaged, just how old are you going to be when you start looking for someone?”
you were hoping her intention wasn’t to have your entire family including relatives listen to her scolding you, but right now your relatives were trying to hide that they could hear everything being said by acting like they were having their own conversations- but it was fairly obvious all the attention was on you and your parents.
“uh well.. i’m not sure yet. when the right person comes along then..” you didn’t face them properly and mentally berated yourself for it. how could you expect them to finally acknowledge you as an adult when all you could do was turn into the little kid that was scared to disappoint them? “besides, i didn’t really have time to look! i’ve been a surgeon for a year and it took 8 years of training” you grew quiet at the slightly mad looks on their faces.
“we didn’t raise you to make excuses for yourself and not take responsibility yn” your father told you harshly.
you nodded, too drained to argue back. they’d drop it after a week or two and you really didn’t have it in you to draw even more attention to yourself. so you swallowed the lump in your throat down and blinked back the stinging tears forming in your eyes.
after another twenty minutes, you decided it was time for you to leave. their ridiculing wasn’t letting up any time soon and you were sure you wouldn’t be able to go the rest of the dinner without having a breakdown right next to your uncle who only wanted you to hand him the salt.
you made an excuse at their questions, “i’m being called in at the hospital” you told them.
you stepped outside, the cool summer air hitting your face causing the tears welling up for the last 30 minutes to finally start falling. you sat on the curb, silently crying to yourself for a few minutes. you sighed frustrated when you realised you didn’t bring any money to pay for a cab ride back, thinking you’d stay with your parents for the night.
you scrolled through your contacts before you realised that all of your friends were busy tonight.
there was only one you weren’t sure of.
Tumblr media
jeonghan was sitting on his friend’s couch, hanging out with a couple of his friends when he got your call. he answered normally, not bothering to move to another room until he heard you speak.
you sounded so small, so hurt- he could practically hear the tears in your voice. biting back sobs you asked him if he could pick you up from the address you’d send. jeonghan was so confused, as far as he knew you were at your parents’ for a dinner. you’d told him a few days ago and you seemed so excited for it.
he quickly explained to his friends that he had to go and he wasn’t sure how long it’d take. jeonghan waited for you to send the address before starting the car, quickly driving to pick you up.
jeonghan thought about you the entire drive over, worried about what happened to put you in a state like that and angry at whoever made it happen. you were inconsolable over the phone and all he wanted to do was hug you and comfort you, telling you how much he loved you and that you didn’t deserve what happened to you.
Tumblr media
your sobs died down a little, but you still sniffles every few seconds when stray tears would escape you. the sound of a car pulling up caught your attention and you looked up to see it was jeonghan, he looked so stressed.
you felt guilty when you saw him. ‘what if he was sleeping and he woke up for his?’ you thought to yourself, regretting having bothered him.
he crouched down to bring himself to your position as you still sat on the curb, a fresh set of tears forming in your eyes when you saw your friend.
“yn..” jeonghan said softly, worried and cautious. “can you tell me what happened please?”
you shook your head while you fought against your body and the urge to start sobbing again, “it’s so- so stupid, jeonghan. i’m sorry i bothered you, you’re probably so annoyed”
“hey hey, i’m not annoyed at you. if im annoyed it’s at whoever made you so sad” he told you, gently rubbing away your tears, heart breaking at how more just kept falling to replace the ones he wiped.
you explained everything to jeonghan from your sister’s engagement to the way your parents practically humiliated you in front of everyone.
he looked at you for a few seconds before getting up and walking over to the front door of your parents house. before he knocked on it, he unlocked his car and told you to sit in there rather than the dirty curb.
you were too drained from the night to question what he was up to, you’ve known yoon jeonghan long enough to know that you wouldn’t be able to stop him anyway.
he came back a few minutes later, looking frustrated but a little satisfied with himself. jeonghan went to the trunk of his car, pulling something out. when you saw him do so, you smiled a little, expecting him to give you a beautifully arranged bouquet of flowers like he always did when you expressed to him you were stressed and he’d always explain the specific choice of flowers while you admired them.
what you didn’t expect was for him to instead show you a messily arranged bunch of flowers, they looked like they were freshly picked from someone’s front garden. he reached over you to grab an old receipt from the glovebox, scribbling a little heart to the back of it before attaching it to the bunch of flowers. he handed it to you, grinning and happily laughing at your confusion.
“you didn’t expect it, huh?” he asked you, still giggling.
“n-no i didn’t- does this mean-?”
“that i’ve been the one leaving you those ugly little flowers on your desk everyday? yeah. expect well- it wasn’t really me leaving them- i mean obviously they’re from me to you but then one actually putting them on the desk was either shua or cheol-”
you laughed at how he was tripping over his own words, as cool as he wanted to look he was still a little nervous confessing to you.
“i’m so mad” you deadpanned, trying not to let the corners of your lips lift into a smile when you saw the worried look on his face.
“you mean to tell me that i’ve been trying to play detective for the last few months all because you didn’t want to tell me!” you whined, pouting at him.
“it was supposed to be a fun way to confess! i just didn’t think it’d take you this long to figure it out!” jeonghan laughed again when he realised you were joking. “actually, in the end, you weren’t even the one to realise. i told you!”
you rolled your eyes playfully at him, “oh well thank you for finally realising i was clueless about the whole thing. what did make you finally want to admit it anyway?”
jeonghan went silent for a few minutes, reassuring you that he was simply trying to find the right words to say what he needed to.
“when i heard you tonight.. i realised something” he looked at the empty street.
“on the phone you sounded so.. sad. it made me sad too and it made me realise that i was wrong about how i thought i felt about you for the last few months”
“i mean that i thought for the last few months that i just liked you- a crush kind of. and that i wanted to go out with you” he quickly added when he saw the worry flash through your face, “i realised that if i only liked you then i wouldn’t have felt how i did today. and it made me realise that i love you a lot more than i thought. and i don’t want to just go out with you but i want to try to make sure you never feel like how you did today ever again”
“so basically what i’m trying to say is, i love you yn, and i hope someday i’ll be in love with you, and you the same for me” he finally looked you in the eyes.
it was a lot to take in at once. from the dinner, to jeonghan telling you he was your mystery admirer to him telling you he loved you- it was a long night to say the least.
you thought about it, and you definitely felt the same. you wouldn’t say you were in love with him, but you definitely loved him- and wanted to see what a future life with him was like. jeonghan was an amazing person, he’d been the one to bring you joy for the better part of your first year as a surgeon.
leaning over the stick shift, you gently pressed a kiss to the corner of his lip, smiling at his it curved upwards. you met his eyes before speaking, “i really really like you too- i think i might even love you. and i definitely want to be with you, jeonghan”
jeonghan smiled again, index finger tilting the underside of your jaw up bringing you closer to him and his lips to yours.
Tumblr media
“hannie? you ready yet?” you called out to your boyfriend, trying to decide on which necklace to wear.
you decided on the pearl one jeonghan had gotten for you on your anniversary, struggling a little as you tried to put it on yourself.
you felt the ends being taken from your own fingers as they secured the necklace in place, you looked through the mirror to see jeonghan, his hands now coming to circle your waist and pressing kisses on your neck from the back to the side, eventually making his way to your collarbone.
“han..” you sighed, smiling when his eyes met your own, “we don’t have much time left until we have to get there”
“i’m sure your sister won’t mind if we’re a little late” he said but pulled away anyway in favour of doing up your zip like you’d asked.
“oh yeah definitely” you said sarcastically before giggling at your boyfriend’s sulking, “come on, i’d rather my family doesn’t murder me for being late to my own sister’s wedding” in reality you knew you still had plenty of time and you definitely wouldn’t be late, but you still didn’t want to take any chances.
“if they try saying anything i’ll tell seungcheol to threaten them”
“what happened to the guy who once marched into my parents house and lectured them for ten minutes about how they should treat me better?” you teased him.
“he realised he’s scared your parents will end up saying no to him when he asks for their daughter’s hand in marriage” he laughed, his hands finding their way to his pockets while he kissed you again.
you tried to hide the fact that you were flustered by clearing your throat and checking your purse to make sure you had everything, but jeonghan saw right through you sending you a teasing look before grabbing his keys.
“yn?”
“hm?” you turned around to look at him.
“i love you” he smiled, warmth swimming in his brown eyes.
“i love you too” you walked over to him, pressing your lips to his own.

PART TWO
Lily wanted to storm inside and hug Summer when Sam opened the door of the car for her, but she kept thinking what her mummy said: ‘don’t forget your manners!’, so as the good girl she wanted to be, she behaved and held the man’s hand as they walked through the front yard. Her mouth was formed in an ‘O’ shape, brown hazel eyes widened when she noticed how big that house was. Not even her grandpapa’s house was this big. She wondered how big Summer’s playroom could be, with all the dolls and teddy bears to play. She also wondered if Summer’s grandmama baked delicious biscuits like hers did, so just in case, she brought some to her bestie — even if they were the last ones because she had eaten almost all of them with her mummy the night before, watching Dumbo.
“Lily!!!” The way Summer hugged her made Lily happy. She had lots of friends from school, but that was her best friend and she was happy they could finally have the day together to play and dance.
“Lily!!!” The way Summer hugged her made Lily happy. She had lots of friends from school, but that was her best friend and she was happy they could finally have the day together to play and dance.
Lily stopped on her tracks before Summer could drag her to the play room, and shyly, thinking of her mummy’s words, asked her friend where auntie Jaz and Debbie were. Summer frowned, as if it was obvious that both women were waiting for them there. Lily wasn’t really a shy kid, her mummy always told people she was like a golden retriever puppy and she thought that was a good thing because golden retriever puppies were the best — Lily often wished she could have one for Christmas, but she got Moana instead, the fish. Which was also great because she loved her fish.

Summer frowned, as if it was obvious that both women were waiting for them there. Which was also great because she loved her fish.
The little one shook her head, in a way to push her random thoughts away, and followed Summer into the playroom where Jaz and Debbie were indeed there, waiting for them.
“Hello, Lils.” Jaz cooed, arms open ready to embrace the four year old. “Can I get a hug?”
Lily nodded and, not letting Summer’s hand go, she went for the tightest hug her tiny arms could give Jasmine and Summer, at the same time. For some odd reason, Debbie’s heart melted seeing that. “What about me? Do I get a double hug too?” The little girls giggled together and hugged Debbie when Jaz let them go.
“You’re warm just like my grandmama.” Lily stated, letting a long sigh out of her lungs. Sighing while hugging people was how she’d tell them she felt comfortable.
“It’s a grandmama thing, sweetheart. Just don’t tell anyone or they’ll all want our hugs.” Debbie winked, making Lily giggle.
They had lunch together, ate the biscuits Lily had carefully packed on a paper bag and Summer convinced her mum to give them chocolate chip ice cream. Coincidentally, that was Lily’s favourite too, and she had a special way of eating it.
“I like it a bit melted.” She explained, making Debbie raise an eyebrow at her but there was a soft smile curling the sides of her lips.
“Do you remember Mason did the exact same thing, Jaz?”
Lily heard that name multiple times throughout the day, and found out that it was Summer’s uncle. Her favourite, but her other uncle Lewis couldn’t know or he’d get sad. She didn’t care much, though, focusing her energy a lot more on enjoying the great time she was having with her best friend and how nice her family was. She met Summer’s grandpapa, her other uncle Lewis - who squeezed her chubby cheeks when she called him ‘uncle’ - but the best part of the afternoon, besides Debbie’s perfect biscuits and sandwiches, was feeling the baby inside Jaz’s tummy kicking. Mummy Y/n had briefly explained about how a baby stayed inside a mummy’s tummy, eating and sleeping until it was time for them to meet the family, but that was the first time Lily felt a baby kick. She asked Jaz if it hurt, and the woman explained that it did sometimes, but the baby didn’t mean it.
There was a permanent frown on Lily’s face as her brain was almost on fire at the thought of that baby kicking, but she also thought it was marvelous, so her tiny chubby hand just rested there, on Jaz’s bump, waiting for it to kick again. It suddenly felt way more interesting than playing with dolls.
“Lily, come see my uncle Masey!” Not leaving Jazmine’s side, she shook her head, but still looked at her friend as Summer pointed at Debbie’s phone and the stranger had a wide smile on his lips. Summer, giving up with a defeated sigh, walked towards her friend so she could properly ‘meet’ her favourite uncle.
“Hello. Can I call you uncle too?” Lily asked, watching him nod. That smile never leaves his lips.
“Are you the friend that Summer can’t stop talking about?” He asked, making her blush a little.
“Mhmm, I’m Lilian Maisie.”
“Maisie? Are you telling me, little lady, that Summer’s besties are Masey and Maisie?”
Lily let out a cheerful laugh at his reaction to her name when she noticed how fun the coincidence was. Another thing added to the list of things that made her absolutely love being Summer’s friend and how much she wished the girl would stay around forever. Lily would never let her go.
For the next few minutes, Mason made a whole bunch of comments on how cool it was that they shared names, with Summer singing ‘Masey and Maisieee’ in the background while she danced, twirling around her best friend with the phone on her hands until Jasmine told her to stop so she wouldn’t get hurt.
They talked for a few more minutes before Mason said his goodbyes, said he’d be back home soon from wherever he was, Lily didn’t pay much attention to it because the baby kicked again, making an almost inaudible giggle part her lips as she covered her mouth with her hand.
When it was dinner time, the girls went out with Debbie and Tony for pizza, with Y/n’s blessing even if her daughter already had way too much junk food for a weekend. They had fun, took pictures and shared a supermarket trolley when Debbie made a quick stop to buy some essentials Jaz needed.
Lily didn’t know the hard word for it, to explain what she felt, but it made her little heart pound so hard against her chest she could almost hear it. That Saturday had been the best she ever had, and holding Summer’s hand under the duvet as they prepared to sleep, she rolled on her side to find a sleepy bestie next to her.
“Summer,” With much effort, Summer opened her eyes, squeezing her friend’s hand so she’d continue. “I love you. Promise you’ll always be my bestie?”
“I love you too, Maisie. I promise.” Summer mumbled, eyes finally closing as she moved closer to put a chubby arm over her best friend’s body.
Jasmine felt oddly happy when she overheard the confessions and promises of two girls who knew nothing about life, but sounded so wise knowing what love and true friendship was. Perhaps, they were wiser than her. Still, she had never seen such a strong bond before but was more than happy that her daughter had someone she could count on at a young age. Jaz hoped it’d last forever and that the bond could be extended to the rest of both families because Y/n seemed like a fantastic young woman, a fantastic mum too, raising that beautiful and loving little girl on her own, despite having support.
“She’s so full of energy, isn’t she? I mean,” Jaz started as Sam, her husband, turned his attention from a book he’d been trying to finish to her. “Summer is just the same, they’re two little hurricanes but it’s not chaotic at all when they’re together.”
“And I was expecting some chaos.” Sam added, getting a chuckle and a nod from his wife.
“Mase was like them when he was a kid, and he was also the most loving little boy, so thoughtful. Like Lily.”
“Maybe that’s exactly what Summer needed while he’s away. A friend just like him.”
“Yeah, maybe…”
PRESENT DAY
“Mummy,” With tiny hands resting on her waist, Lily rolled her eyes, impatience making chubby cheeks flush pink as a sigh parted her lips. You watched your daughter close her eyes as if she was mentally counting to ten, which he most likely was. Lily, always the mini adult. “Take me now!”
If Lily had any idea what reason was behind you trying to convince her to miss ballet class on that typically rainy Thursday, she’d make you feel embarrassed with yourself. She was like your personal little voice of reason, always so patient despite having so much energy all the time, always trying to make you see things the way she did. Lilian was smarter than the kids her age, and it wasn’t hard for her to notice how weird her mummy had been acting lately, although she couldn’t figure out why.
You had been able to escape Jasmine for almost two weeks since Lily spent the weekend at her place, at least in person, because you texted all the time. It was easier to lie this way, not seeing in her person, because that woman was too kind for you to simply hide from her the fact that your daughter was her niece. Without even noticing, you and Jaz were slowly becoming very good friends, the only problem was how much she insisted on seeing you for whatever it was — shopping, dinner, taking the girls out… you always had to come up with an excuse. It was nearly suffocating. Not because you didn’t like her, but because you had no idea for how long you’d be able to keep things from her.
With a defeated look on your face and a victorious smile on Lily’s, you two were welcomed by the typical warmth from the ballet studio, and the smell of orange blossom mixed with wood. It was comforting, happy — it fit the place. The teacher always welcomed you with a quick hug, and then her attention was all Lily’s as both left holding hands to meet the girls who had already arrived for class.
When Jasmine waved cheerful but discreetly, you wished you had changed into full mum instead of mummy mode and insisted on the ‘no’ you so wanted to give Lily about ballet today. But it really was about not punishing her, about not taking away the things she liked the most only because her mummy was such a coward.
Jaz had both hands around her bump, which made you instantly miss being pregnant although the first 6 weeks were the hardest, with you being diagnosed with hyperemesis gravidarum and your life turning into severe nausea and vomiting, dehydration, fatigue, among other symptoms.
“I thought I’d never see you again!” You blushed, wishing you could run away and hide somewhere until class was over and she wouldn’t see you.
“Been busy.” You replied, making Jaz narrow her eyes at you. She shook her head, clearly not buying your excuses all this time. Still, she linked her arm on yours and carried you outside the studio. You frowned. “Do you mind sharing where we are going?”
“Coffee, or tea. Then you’re joining me on baby shopping.” Then she started rambling about how could you two be friends by only texting, and how could you make your daughters’ friendship stronger if you never met, how important it was for them that you’d have some sort of bond too. Jasmine had no idea that no matter how much you liked her, there was no need for a special bond between the two of you for Summer and Lily to love each other so much. It was natural for them because they were family.
All that rambling annoyed you, and you started to feel way too hot for someone exposed to the cold and rain, as if your blood was boiling as it ran through your veins. It’s not her fault, it’s not her fault - you kept thinking. And she was also a pregnant woman, heavily pregnant, so lashing out at her wasn’t an option, even if you wanted to tell Jaz to back off a bit and just let you breathe.
You both decided to go for hot tea. Jaz because she avoided coffee as much as she could and you, because you thought coffee would increase your anxiety. It really was hard being around her and hiding the truth as she praised your daughter.
Baby shopping soothed your nerves. All those tiny clothes, toys, the smell; it all took you to a place free of any kind of worries because they made your mind go back to the past and its happy memories of Lily as a baby. Her chubby and tiny hands, the look of love on her big brown eyes and the toothless smile always followed by a laugh that’d fill the room with joy.
Lilian was your everything, and there was no reason to keep forbidding her to live life to the fullest because as long as you kept hiding the truth, that also meant there’d be a missing piece in her life.
“The first 6 weeks of my pregnancy were the hardest, you know,” You started, not caring if you finally had interrupted Jaz on her endless chattering about how expensive those tiny things for babies could be. She gave you a sweet smile, nodding, knowing what you were talking about. “Besides the stress, HG kicked my arse, I was always in and out of the hospital. It was fucking hell.”
Reaching for your phone, you opened the album ‘Lilian Maisie’ in your gallery, showing photos of your bump, videos of your baby shower, as a wide smile spread across her lips. The next pictures were the ones of you and your family at the hospital, the night you gave birth.
“How was it for you?” Jaz asked, pointing at the birthing pool when you showed her a photo of you inside, peace sign on your fingers, messy bun and the most exhausted smile. She really didn’t mind you turning their baby shopping into you showing Lily’s life as you were both still at the store, standing between the onesies and the teddy bears aisle.
If you were going to do this, if you were going to tell her… it had to be where you felt comfortable. Oddly, it was there.
“The complete opposite of the entire pregnancy. Giving birth to Lily was calm and peaceful, despite all the pain, obviously.” You both shared a laugh, she knew exactly how it felt. The next photo was the first ever taken of you and Lily, while you were feeding her for the first time. “I never thought I could love that little girl so much until I started breastfeeding her, it was the most special thing of the whole ‘I’m a mummy now’ thing.”
“It’s how we bond with them.” You nodded, agreeing completely.
Next, you allowed Jaz to have a blast scrolling through photos of Lily growing up. The first fruit, first steps, first tooth and first birthday. She never stopped smiling, letting a few ‘awww’ as you told the story behind a few photos. A two year old Lily in a yellow bikini and her face all dirty after having her first mango on your first trip to Greece got Jaz giggling for a few minutes.
“He was never around, was he?” Jaz asked, you just sighed in return, knowing who she was talking about. “Her dad was never around.”
“I tried to tell him, but he just… Gosh, I went to his place and I was ready to tell him but he shoved me off. Politely, but he did. He never let me say whatever it was that I had to say, Jaz. He thought I went there for a whole different reason!” Finally, you took a long deep breath and all Jaz did was to hug you. Her hands rubbing your back, trying to calm you down. “I met part his family recently.”
Holding your arms, Jaz stepped back, her eyebrows raised at you. “You did? How was it?”
“They’re so lovely I feel guilty for hiding this from them.”
“Oh, Y/n… it’s not your fault!” She hugged you again, squeezing you so tight it only made you feel worse.
“No, Jaz. It kinda is, I should’ve insisted. If not for him, for Lily, so she’d have her fantastic auntie around, so she’d have her other grandparents. On top of that, I took from Lily 4 years of the most beautiful bond I’ve ever seen.” Taking a long, deep breath, you pushed Jasmine away and gave a soft squeeze on her arms. “With Summer.”
“W-what?” Her jaw dropped, her bag almost fell to the ground but you took it before and handed it back to her. “What do you mean, Y/n? What exactly are you trying to say?”
“I named her Lilian Maisie for a reason.” You lowered your head, not wanting her to see how your eyes now sparkled with hot tears that you wouldn’t allow to roll down your cheeks. “I wanted Lily to have something of him. Of Mason.”
A sniff coming from Jasmine and how she broke down the next second made you look up, she was so much better at not hiding her emotions. Tears fell freely down her flushed cheeks. She reached for your hand, linking your fingers on hers.
“We’ll, Y/n… that explains a lot. Let’s pick up our girls and we can go to yours, I want you to tell me the whole story.”
The walk back to the studio was quiet but, thankfully, not an awkward quiet. You shared glances and smiles, one comforting the other, knowing how shitty that situation was and how there was just one person who should be a priority: Lily. And when Jasmine saw her for the first time since you dropped the truth, you watched every already expected reaction, but as much as she was great at sharing her feelings, Jaz was also perfect at not letting the girls notice something was off. She hugged both when class was done, but the way she looked at your daughter was different. The look in her eyes was of pure love and joy.
When you walked into your apartment, apologising for the unusual mess, Jaz made herself comfortable on your large sofa as her hands rested on her bump. Still in silence, she watched you settle everything for a spag bol night until the doorbell rang and, for her surprise, Sam walked in.
“I don't want you carrying the weight of this alone, Jaz.” She squeezed your hand as a ‘thank you’, knowing that having someone to talk about the fact that her brother had a daughter he didn’t know would make it easier for her, it would make it easier to wait until he and the rest of the family knew. Until you felt ready to tell.
“I’m sorry for this.” You frowned at her words but was quick to reassure she had absolutely nothing to apologise for, Jasmine had offered you nothing but support and kindness, her reaction had been free of any kind of judgment and not once she questioned your actions, knowing that all this time your priority was doing what you thought that was better for Lily.
While the girls were in Lily’s bedroom, playing, you told Jaz and her husband the whole story. You watched her cringe a bit when you mentioned the condom getting stuck, Sam chuckled but was quick to apologise when he noticed you blushing and when Jaz slapped his thigh. “I know it’s awfully pathetic, and I hope I never have to tell my kid all these details.” You admitted, wanting to disappear between the cushions.
“I know you’re not asking for our opinion, but I think you should’ve insisted on telling him.” Sam added when you finished the story.
“I know.” You mumbled, your fingers now seemed more interesting than anything else as you played with them. “I didn’t know him. I mean, I still don’t. It felt like I wouldn’t get much support from him considering his behaviour. And I felt miserable all the time.”
“He would’ve supported you. He will.” Jasmine’s words made you feel safe. Not for you, but for Lily, as it was all about her. “We’ll think of a way to tell him and make it as smoothly as possible.”
When they decided to leave, Jaz asked Sam to take a sleepy Summer to the car while she said her goodbyes. You guessed she wanted a moment alone with you and Lily, and as you watched how loving she was with her niece, the way she hugged her and softly squeezed the tip of Lily’s nose, you couldn’t really find the right words to thank her. For everything, but mostly, for not judging and not questioning if Mason really was Lily’s father. Sharing that with her, when Lily left for her bedroom again, you first got a giggle as a reply.
“Y/n, she looks so much like him I could never question that. It’s not only her looks, but her entire personality, her laugh… it’s all Mase.”
With busy days, you rarely thought of him. But late at night, Mason would often show up to haunt you. Either in your dreams or keeping you wide awake, making you think how he’d be as a father, and how you’d be as family because once you’d finally tell him the truth, it’d make you a family. Mason would have to be there for her, to support Lily through it all, to be part of her education. He’d be there for special occasions, he’d be around…
Forever.

-Hate Fuck-
I hate you, I love you

~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
Billy Hargrove and Y/N Y/L/N were classmates. They hated each other.
they always fought in the hallways about him being a dick to everyone or how she would snitch on him. Dumb shit.
Y/N and Billy are complete opposites. He was the bad boy that everyone tolerated, and she was the good little nerd that everyone loved.
But polar opposites attract each other, like a magnet.
That's why he couldn't stop himself from touching himself in his car.
As much as he hated her, he found her attractive, with her h/c hair, her e/c eyes, and her soft skin that he felt once when she tried to punch him and he held her wrist.
the way her hands would move when she was writing notes, it made him wonder how her fingers felt holding his or around his dick.
The way she would smile at her best friends in the cafeteria, it made him want to kiss those lips even more.
He wanted her so bad.
After school, he jogged to his car. He was parked in the backlot, and he was the only one there, so he couldn't get caught doing anything.
He sat in his car and rubbed his hard dick through his tight jeans.
Looking over to her jacket that she dropped in the hallway after one of their many fights, he could smell her jasmine perfume. It only made him hornier.
his heart raced and his cock throbbed at the thought of her.
Unbuttoning his jeans, he slid them off. pulling down his boxers. stroking slowly , thinking about the things y/n will think if she saw him like this.
his hand moved faster and harder at the thought. He imagined her seeing him naked and masturbating. He imagined her thick curves, the slope down her back to her voluptuous ass that was always covered in a pleated skirt, her lips, her hands on him. kissing him, licking his lips and sucking his neck. taking her, fucking her, making her cum, making her scream his name, making her his.
 Suddenly his car door opened. It was her, who looked extremely pissed like she had unfinished business with him. He knew he was fucked, he quickly got her jacket put it over his crotch which probably wasnt the smartest move.
"Why in the hell do you have my jacket hargrove?"
he blushed. "I... I…" I couldn't form words.
"What were you doing?".
He  looked up at her with wide eyes. "N-Nothing." stuttering.
She got closer to him, grabbing his chin.
She brought her face closer to his, and he gulped.
"Did the big and scary Hargrove really just stutter nervously?, tell me the truth." She demanded.
he felt turned on by her tone, no girl ever talked to him in such a way she does. It drives him crazy.
"I was jacking off." She gave a breathy laugh as she let go of his chin and sat on his lap, looking into his eyes.
"Fucking knew it"
“I can't help myself when I think of you."
"Can't help yourself? Do you like me hargrove? " she asked with a smirk. He couldn't help but nod yes. She smiled as she straddled his legs. She leaned in to kiss him softly. He moaned in her mouth for finally being able to experience this heaven.
She removes her jacket from the space between them. His dick was free for her to see how hard he was.
“Billy, I want you. I want you to fuck me, been dreaming about this"
"you have no idea how many times I wanted to fuck you when you were talking back to me, to bend you over and teach you a lesson in front of everyone" he told her, she whimpered.
"Your fucking mine" he growled.
"Yes, yes I am," she breathed. Smirking, he moved her underwear to the side and sank her onto him. their both sighed at the feeling of being connected. She began to ride him slowly.
he moaned "I'm gonna fuck you like the bitch you are." she gasps and moans loudly. He grabbed and ripped open her white button up shirt buttons fly everywhere, exposing her chest, her chest bare.
“Hm, such a good girl for deciding not to wear a bra today.” he leaned in and captured one of her nipples in his mouth, licking, biting the sensitive bud. She moaned louder and arched her back, wanting more. removing his mouth from her nipple, his tongue and lips trailed up her chest to her neck. Biting the soft skin hard. As she rode him with desperation.
"You are so fucking sexy, you need to be fucked hard". she could only nod, she needed this. He needed this.
"Please fuck me hard, please fuck me" she begged. He moved her off him. She whined from being empty.
“Get in the back seat now” he demanded. She climbed in the back quickly hewas right behind her. He ripped her underwear off her, and she gasped.
“Those were my fa….” she got caught off by his dick plunging back into her pussy with force.  Thrusting deep and fast inside her, making her moan and grab onto his seat, her knuckles turning white.
“I hate you” she gritted her teeth.
“I hate you too, princess.”
moving faster, thrusting deeper. slamming into her tight pussy. She moaned even louder, he could feel she was getting close. grabbing her throat and gently squeezed "Cum for me, cum all over my cock" he ordered.
she couldn't hold it any longer. Her eyes rolled, and she shuddered against him, and she screamed his name. He soon followed her growling out a moan as he was cumming inside her, painting her insides with his thick cum. collapsing on top of her, she pulled him into a passionate kiss.
they lay there for a while, catching their breath.
Finally, she said, "Hate sex was better than I thought."
he chuckled. "Yes, it is. I can't wait to do this again after every fight."
She started to laugh “ I hate you so much.” she didn't mean it. He knew what she wanted to say.
Laughing with her “I love you so much too” he said as he kissed her.
spending the weekend with the mounts and them loving you!!
thanks for sending this in! ❤️ and i added a little detail to it (the first time you meet his family), hope you like it 🤭
ps: i’m using neutral pronouns for the reader here 🫶🏻
Mason brought you to spend the weekend with his family, and you were nervous since it would be the first time you met his entire family.
The day before, you already asked Mase like a million questions about his family and what you should do around them – and he found this super duper cute. He loved how much effort you were willing to make to fit in with his family, but he kept reassuring you they would love you without you trying too hard.
Now arrived at Mason’s parents’ house, you kept thinking to yourself if they would see you as someone who is worth dating their beloved Mase. Mason held your hand, telling you to not overthink things because everything will be okay.
Mason introduced you to everyone, and they were very welcoming! Even Stacey – his eldest sister who was still in Australia – asked you to visit her there sometimes. They all teased Mason for not bringing you to them sooner, and you couldn’t help but laugh. They also asked you so many questions – nothing too much, really – and you patiently answered to every single one of those.
They told you so many things about Mason – and he was embarrassed the whole time. Debbie gave a baby Mason photo that you loved so much for you to keep, and even brought up on how you babies would look like which got both you and Mason saying “woah, too soon!” right away then laughed.
Seeing how wonderful everyone has been to you, you worries were gone in an instant. You became so relaxed and – as Mason previously said – enjoyed your time with them. Mason saw how well you have bonded with his family – even his nieces were immediately got so attached to you – and he just knew he’s fallen in love with you even harder.
Seeing how smitten their son was, Debbie and Tony smiled at each other and came over to him.
“Masey, I’m so glad you are with someone who loves you and truly cares about you. I can tell they make you happy.” Debbie said.
“Yes, they’re wonderful, son. We love them!” Tony added.
Mason became so emotional and gave his parents the biggest hug. You saw this and though you weren’t sure what that was about, it warmed you heart – you basically have owned his parents’ hearts and you didn’t even know it yet.
As the weekend came to an end, you and Mason had to leave. You gave everyone a hug and told them you had an amazing time with them. Before you left, Debbie and Tony told you to take care and visit them more. At the same time, Mason hugged both Jasmine and Lewis goodbye and they said something to him.
“Seems like you’ve hit the jackpot in your love life, little bro!” Lewis said.
“I love them and so do the girls. Marry them and don’t you dare hurt them.” Jasmine expressed her approval.
Mason chuckled.
“Yes, I will one day and no, I won’t hurt them. You have my words.”
I'm forcing everyone to look at my Cranes pet/animal hcs Jasmine has a dog, cat and snake.
Thomas has a cat
Jasmine forced Thomas to make their cats have a play date. it was a success in Jasmine's words.
Thomas's cat is an orange and white tabby named Daisy.
Jasmine's pet names are: Dog- Mushu Cat- Meowvrick (He's a black cat with long fur, she had to name him after her boss <:sobbingBoss:1183934764386898000> ) Snake- Mr. Snoodle (She let her friend Jenifer pick this name. She regrets it afterwards 💀)
Jasmine used to have a big fluffy dog when she was a little kid. She was old but still energetic. She absolutely loved her. Sadly one day while on a walk, an unleashed dog tried attacking little Jasmine. Luckily her dog was there and defended her. Unfortunately, while her dog won, she was left heavily injured. She carried her back home (with struggle) and tried to help her, but it was too late. It took a lot of years after to get a new dog since she was heart broken
Jasmine kept a lot of centipedes in a little bucket and gave them names. They would always die and she cried every time (she was like 9) ((also she held funerals for them and completely forgot about them afterwords))
In 7th grade she went over to Thomas's house and saw that he had a pet bird. She loved spending her time with Cracker (Thomas named him 💀)
Oh yeah, Thomas had a pet bird named Cracker. He named him when he was 10.
Thomas would always bring home the most scrungkliest feral cats, and his parents would force him to let them back outside (he always cried bc he loved them a lot, even if they scratched his face up)
Jasmine and Ryan would always help him capture these cats. Mainly Ryan bc he knew what he was doing.
Ryan had a pet horse who he still visits to this day (horse was a baby when he got him)
Ryan is scared of every dog except his tiny little dachshund who he named Snake (he grew out of this fear eventually)
Ryan loved turtles as a kid. He had a pet turtle named Hank (they were kids ok--)
Ryan didn't like Thomas's bird as a kid (he bit his finger) Every time Ryan went to his cousin's house, he would immediately hide from their heeler dog (they lived on a ranch) Once while on the trampoline, his cousin's dog got on and Ryan started freaking out, struggling to get away since he was laying down.
He hates the rooster on his cousin's family ranch
Ryan took horse riding lessons
Maverick has a black axolotl who he named Latte (haha reference)
When Maverick was little, he was constantly surrounded by birds and other rain forestly type animals. He took care of 2 Scarlet Macaws that frequently visited his childhood home, a pet Capybara named Stinkle, and an Iguana named Chico
Maverick loves animals, give him a cat to play with and he melts immediately "Awhhh, aren't you a stinky little thing?? Yeah you don't like me, but I don't care. No one likes me either way!!" "Boss, we have to give the cat back" "No, she's mine now." "Boss--" "Ryan, can't you see we're bonding??" He says as the furious little kitten is biting him
Maverick is scared of horses (a horse licked him when he was little)
He LOVES cranes. He absolutely loves them. It's been his dream to have one as a pet, but sadly the only cranes that lives in the states is the sandhill crane and whooping crane, and they're illegal to own as pets. (He'll get one eventually)
When he got to see a crane up close once, his fixiation started HARD. Bring up a crane in discussion and he'll list off all the facts about them from the top of his head.
The crane trio gave him the axolotl for his birthday. Maverick didn't like aquatic type animals, so he was sorta pissed at first. But when he saw the axolotl was black, he fell in love. "You got me a fish…?" "Well, not really, it's an axolotl!" "…Whatever it is, I don't want that disgusting--" Sees it's black "….You're my baby now. I'm naming you Latte. I'll build an entire ecosystem for you, and we'll talk about cranes together." "…Told you he'll love it."
Alex is scared of cats (he got chased by an orange kitten when he was little)
He really likes Cheetahs, their swiftness intrigue him
He really wants a pet dog, but never found the time to make room for one (his job 💔 )
When Ryan and Alex move in together after this hell, Ryan got him a Golden Shepard breed, and Alex loved her (he cried when he held her in his arms)
Alex and Ryan are dog parents
They got a Doberman after
Crows are fairly fond of Alex, they constantly bring him little shiny jewels since he feeds them
Tanjiro x fem!Reader in Aladdin Au
Hello! Long time no see! So this was a request for Tanjiro x femReader in an Aladdin Au. Imma deal with you all- I haven’t watched the movie in years and kinda hate Disney- don’t ask. So I hope you all enjoy and I’m sorry about the wait and how… off this story line is. This is my first time EVER writing for Demon Slayer soo…. Advice is welcomed.
Tumblr media
Tanjiro counts his stars when he looks at you. The princess of the empire who somehow fell in love with a boy who barely scraped by.
His honesty and pure heart never allowed him to steal like others in his position, and he seemed to always give away what little food he got.
"His parents would be proud." The old ladies would say.
The town believes that's why you fell in love with it. A Jem in the city of filth and decay. There was fear in the streets, something you hadn't been aware of till the day you traveled there. You had been being followed by a group, likely those under Muzan. Yet, you only knew once it was too late- or so you thought.
"Are you okay, Miss?" His big red eyes held nothing but kindness despite the crimson color. "Ah! I'm so sorry!" He pleaded with surprise, his arm leaving your waist from where he pulled you away from the group. Hiding the two of you in a small ally.
From that day, Tanjiro seemed to find you, or you him.
He always saw you dressed as the citizens you ruled. Yet.. they were always clean. You seemed to… kept? Too unaware of the dangers to truly be from around the area.
"Do you work in the palace?"
"W-what?"
"You smell like like dried flowers and jasmine" Your face made him regret his words. "AH, I have a really good noise! Like I can smell the bread being baked down the street right now!"
A servant at the palace. Yes… that's what you were.
"What is it like there?"
"Smothering, but.. It's a good life. I'm grateful for where I am." Especially after seeing the truth of the kingdom you were destined to rule.
Months passed, and you met his closest friends and even his little sister. It all worked until Muzan found out you were unguarded walking around the streets.
"Please stay behind me." "Tanjiro!" "I'll be okay."
"Come now, princesses, it's time to return." The voice caused your skin to crawl. You knew this man, his white hair and colorful eyes. He was a monster.
"Pr-princesses?… No, it doesn't matter. She doesn't want to go!"
You were wrong, Tanjiro. His Eyes weren't like blood; they were like fire. Blood is too sticky to compare to the beauty of his soul.
——Skip——
Tanjiro had been lucky to find the lamp and lucky to love you. Three wishes: Your safety, wealth…
"Tanjiro!" You had screamed, seeing the male limp on the ground as Muzan laughed. What had gone wrong? You had been stabbed, yet the blade seemed to cut nothing; only your clothes showed you had been stabbed.
"I wish for her to always be protected."
"Young master, whatever she becomes afflicted with, you will instead."
"That's okay, as long as she's safe."
He had risen in status, wishing for wealth and handing it out as quickly as he received it.
"Now I can be with you if that's what you want."
"Ha! I see. How pathetic." Muzan had grabbed you, trapping your form against his own. "If I can't harm her, then I'll take her. You'll live enough to know everything you wish was in vain. Even in death, you'll mourn. You're pathetic."
—-Skip—-
How strange and horrific, watching the man melt into a pool of black as his soul left his body. Pulled from the air and trapped in the lamp. A fever dream, one would say, but it wasn't.
"Tanjiro!"
You grasped the boy's battered body as he gave you a sweet smile. "You're okay, I'm glad."
Tanjiro survived-a slight limp and scar is the only thing left. He was your right hand, your husband. Loved by the people and generous beyond words.
"Be free, enjoy the world."
"I wish you the best of luck."
The Servant and His Master //
The Princess the parrot and the genie
❤️❤️❤️❤️❤️❤️❤️❤️❤️❤️❤️❤️❤️❤️
"What time did he say he'd be here again?" The parrot groaned loudly.
"Quite Iago, Mezireraths eyes could hear you"
"Still find the whole eyes for ears thing completely stupid "
Even in the busy markets the grand vizer of the empire had kept a close watch on the princess using his Eyes.They were Giant Eye shaped bots that used magic for fuel to not only see but hear even the slightest of pin drop.
Y/n flinched as one of the eyes blinked right at her.
I hope he takes me somewhere away from these stupid bots.
"Hey that hooded fella over there by the fountain I don't think I've ever seen him before." Iago pointed
She perked up recognising those sharp eyes instantly.
" Thats him Iago!" She whispered spotting the hooded ravenette.
"Right Right"
Jamils senses immediately woke him up from his thoughts as he gazed directly into her eyes trying his best not to get lost in them.
He had been interested in those e/c orbs that held a deep melancholy within.
He quickly approached her. And smiled slyly
"You had me having second thoughts. I didn't think you'd come"
He may have been waiting for 15 minutes but in reality he had been waiting since they departed the other day.
She chuckled
"Well you did owe me. So where are we going?" She asked cheekily
"There's park nearby with really nice scenery. I was wondering if we could.."
He twirled his hair strand, nervous on what she might think of him already taking an interest in her already asking her out after meeting her just once.
"A basket?Are you taking me out on a picnic?" She asked excitedly
"Yes that was the plan." He replied trying his best to hide his anxiousness.
"I'd love too. Let's go" she cut the conversation short before any of the Eyes would notice.
He coughed
"We'll then excuse me "
Taking her hand, Jamil lead her towards there destination while turning his face away, not wanting to reveal his bashfulness.
Little did he know that this bold action had already earned him her first skipped beat of the day.
---------------------------------
"They're soo pretty" she sighed , inhaling the lovely scent of jasmine bushes that were scattered all around her.
"I'm glad you like it here" Jamil smiled at the sight,laying down the cotton blanket under a large shady tree.
Being a private park Mezireath couldn't let his Eyes monitor the vicinity much to Y/ns joy.
A white bird came upto her finger singing a sweet tune to which she whistled softly to match.
Her presence was so peaceful, it alone was enough to calm Jamil's mind.
Iago made himself comfortable on the branch, already catching up on his famous afternoon naps.
"Are you sure it's alright up there? You could join us here" Jamil asked the red parrot.
"Nahh I prefer it here and you so do you."
" Excuse me?"
"Yeah so in return, don't mess this up"
Jamil was taken back by his comment again.
Kalim had booked the whole park just for him despite his protest. But if Jamil was honest with himself he really wanted it to be that way. He really wanted to be alone with just Y/n.
Yet the parrot could understand his intentions just like it had before.
"Thanks." He mumbled.
Jamil then started to set the plates when he felt something light being placed on his head.
"You look beautiful my princess" she giggled.
Jamil looked up at Y/N who was trying to hold back her laugh.
He then touched his head, taking the delicate flower crown off .
She took notice of how his look and quickly started running before he got up.
But unfortunately, her host for the day was known for his athletic abilities.
Catching upto her pace quite soon,he tackled her to a soft flower bed.
"I think your having too much fun"He smirked.
But she couldn't listen as she laughed breathlessly.
How long had it been since she enjoyed herself like this. Away from the castle, away from Mezirath away from everything.
He looked at her seeing her eyes shine brightly with joy and not with the usual sadness that had hooded them.
In a blink of an eye he had fallen in love with her beautiful eyes.
And then her contagious laugh got him aswell he couldn't help himself from joining in.
God had finally given Jamil a break from his stressful life and he planned to relish each and every second of it.
The both laughed and laughed knowing that in this moment they were completely free.
Iago watched the sight of the two teenagers playing in the flower bed.
"Man,there even worse than them"
--------------------------------
"Do you come here often?"
Taking the plate he was offering Y/n asked him curiously.
"It's my first time here aswell. My friend had suggested this being a nice picnic spot"
"The friend who called you last time?"
He nearly dropped his plate.
"Yes how did you know?" He asked
"Just a hunch You two must be close friends then?." she smiled
Jamil did not intend to reveal much about his personal life. What would she think of him if she knew that he was a lowly servant of a family that was most likely on a par with her own.
So he swallowed his pride and lied to her and himself.
"Yes we are friends. We had been since childhood" he replied confidently as he could tell she was sensing his discomfort at the notion.
"Oh that's cute. You must share everything together then" She giggled
Yet Jamil frowned.
Yes he had been sharing. His entire life just sharing .Soo much that nothing would be left for him in the end. Handing every opportunity every moment to Kalim without a word.
"What about you? Do you have anyone close" He asked trying his best to change the subject.
"No No I haven't dated anyone yet" she smirked
"I wasn't asking that!" he spoke feeling very embarrassed.
"But that doesn't mean you didn't want to know" she replied
He did wanted to know. And his expression said it all.
He sighed bringing his face close to his knees.
Y/n chuckled at his cute reaction.
"We'll you've met Iago. Other than that I have two wonderful friends and yes to your concern they are male" she grinned
Jamil gave her his signature annoyed expression.
"They've all been with me since I woke up in this world."
Her soft words were filled with gratitude and she smiled to herself knowing she was blessed with her only three friends, a talking parrot, a flying carpet and a blue genie.
Jamil sighed in relief now knowing it wasn't what he had thought.
"And what about the princess? She's you're close friend is she not?"
That perked her up.
"Ahh yes she is. A very awesome person indeed so smart and brave." She replied to which Iago coughed.
Jamil then gave her a wrapped wet burger he made which she gladly accepted.
"Iago, reminds me of the great sorcerer's parrot."
Her eyes widened at his statement. And Iago almost fell down for coughing soo much. This time his cough being real.
"You know about that?"
"Yes. It's one of the reasons why I like parrots. Not much is known about the great sorcerer but the fact that he had a talking red parrot as a companion is quite famous"
"Yup Jafar did have one" she replied nonchalantly
"Jafar?"
"The great sorcerer. His name was Jafar"
"Really?" He was shocked to learn his idol's name for the first time.
"Yes The great sorcerer's name was Jafar. He was the vizer of the royal empire of our land once."
She took a bite from the burger and her eyes widened at it's marvellous flavour.
"How do you know?"
"Oh Iago told me" she replied taking another bite.
"What?" He replied
Her eyes widened, she was so lost in the food that she let that slip by.
She looked at Jamil who clearly wanted an explanation and seeing how keen and sharp he was she couldn't hide anything from him.
Dammit Y/n
She looked at Iago
"Ya know what? just tell him. You know you would eventually"
She glared at him.
we'll I guess I have no choice.
"How old do you think Iago is?"
"I don't know how birds age but"
He came closer observing the red parrot.
"I'm guessing he's lived quite a long life. He can see right pass a person's intensions soo easily that can only happen through vast experience."
He's incredibly smart. There's noway I can hide much from him.
She looked at him again seeing his eyes like serpents sharp gaze.
It felt like he already knew all
about her.
"I like this kid." Iago spoke making Jamil feel embarrassed.
"He's the parrot you speak of "
"Huh?"
"Jafar and Iago were companions long ago"
"What? How can that be?"
"Companions is the least how I'd describe it. I was the one who came up with all the ideas afterall." Iago spoke.
"I don't understand. The sorcerer lived many centuries ago."
"Iago well.." she couldn't find the words to explain the story.
"You see kid back in my time there weren't any of these new gizmos and what nots you all now have that make water magically appear outta nowhere with a flick of wand. Instead we had stupid magic, wishes that would turn people into the powerful genies or raspberry juice that would turn people immortal. I was very thirsty from a very long journey, we had to cross a whole canyon and climb the mountains across the Jordan since we couldn't use the main path that lead to the empire. And wanna know the best part the only liquid on our stop happened to be a fucking elixir of life.
"Language " Y/n scolded the bird.
"Right sorry but now I'm here with you two all because I was on the brink of death by dehydration one day"
"Why couldn't you enter through the main path?"
Why do you have to be so curious? Y/n thought
"Because my master was a wanted theif"
"Iago!!"
"What it's the truth!I'm being honest here"
"Qasim changed his ways later on remember"
"But was still wanted in the land"
"Wait you said you were the sorcerer companion so what happened?why change to another?"
"Oh him. Thing's didn't go swell between us later on. Especially when he went all "most powerful being in the universe".It didn't end well for him "
"Why though? The sorcerer is known throughout the land for his foresight and thoughtfulness"
"Let me tell ya something kid. You don't owe nothing to anyone who helped you when you didn't ask them too. Jafar was a good pal really good with magic and had great foresight indeed. If it weren't for his ideas and knowledge this place wouldn't have survived. But nothing can go well when you drink from the cup"
"The cup?"
"There's not enough money or power in the world to ever satisfy you. That was what lead to Jafar's downfall. He couldn't bare see someone superior to him but that lead to the suffering of all those below him. He was blinded by his lust for power "
"I see" jamil spoke... realising that the sorcerer had more of a deep dark story then the mere tale of his humble origins.
He glanced at the parrot
"So how did he die?"
"My doing"
"You killed your own companion?"
"No that was his doing. I just simply pushed the lamp,putting an end to the misery to those who didn't deserve it including myself "
"He tried to hurt you?"
"He had killed me but surprise I was still able move. Enough to push the lamp into the volcano. Ending his days as the most powerful genie.
Expecting Jamil to speak yet Y/n was surprised to see him silence all of a sudden.
Jamil was taken back on how the sorcerer's end reminded him of his own overblott. His desires for power had driven him crazy to the point of harming those who didnt have anything to do with his life.
The Ramshackle dorm prefect, grim he genuinely felt bad for getting them involved, not to mention the many scarabia students who all looked upto him as a reliable vice.
Right now it's taking time for him to built back his reputation in the college but if he hadn't been stopped that time he would've regretted his entire existence and suffer forever.
"Jamil"
Waking up from his thoughts as he heard her say his name for the first time. It made a spark run through his spine.
He looked at her knowing exactly what she will ask him. Yet he spoke first
"How come these things aren't written in books or anyone has heard about them?"
"They were, but now people just change real history with made up stories. They think that the magic from the past was just a myth. You must've heard many people claiming even the sorcerer existence as just a legend aswell. The real facts and history can only be found and confirmed through the royal archives"
"What about Iago?"
"How many would accept him?. Maybe not now but when times get better,if the land actually supports what Iago says and is ready to accept its real roots."
If I become sultan that is..
"I understand what you mean. But I want you to know that I believe him"
She smiled at him
"Iago has been passed down to me by my late mother. Not many people know he's with me so.."
"Our conversation is confidential. I won't say a word."Jamil spoke a little taken back by the words late mother.
So her mother died...I wonder if she was related to the sorcerer or the wanted theif.
"Thank you" she smiled.
"All that sad backstory stuff has made me hungry" Iago laid back down on Y/ns lap.
"Ohh try this Iago it's really good" she excitedly took a small piece of the wet burger and placed it on its beak.
"This isn't half bad. I'll eat the rest up there." He flew back giving while Jamil a thumbs up.
All if this new information was a little too hard to digest for him
Jamil sighed and turned his attention to Y/n who was enjoying her meal. Seeing her so used to the situation made him realise that maybe this wasn't so much of a big deal.
"Where did you get these? The guy in the market only makes them at night." She took another bite.
" I made them myself" he replied sheepishly.
"Noway. You cook??" She asked genuinely shocked
"Yes I do sometimes"
"We'll you're an amazing cook. This is the best burger I've had. the guy in night market doesn't make half as good as this one"
"I can cook other dishes aswell but I usually make these street snacks for myself. If you'd want I can make you something else. What would you like?"
She looked at him.
I always wanted my future husband to be someone who knew how to cook.
Wait! why am I thinking that now??
"Well" Jamil asked
"Sorry what were you saying?" she jolted, blushing from her thoughts.
"I asked what you're favourite dishes would be?"
"I'm fine with anything but lately I've been craving this Massaman curry I had when I went to the East"
"Massaman? I've never heard that flavour before" Jamil got curious, he loved all kinds of curry afterall.
"Oh it's like this warm sweet curry which has potatos peanuts cinnamon. It's a little hard and alot of work to make .In the end I just make the usual Madras or Vindalo."
"Vindalo is my favourite!!. Oh excuse me" he felt embarrassed at his sudden excitement.
She scooted closer to his face
" I make really good Vindalo" she smirked.
Her sensual tone hade made the tiny sparks turned into big thunderbolts.
"I'd like to try some" he gasped on the inside.
What am I saying? I was the one who was supposed to cook for her not the other way around.
"Whenever you like. Actually curry is the only thing I know how to make"
This made Jamil giddy giddy on the inside.
She is perfect.
"Any specific reason why you only know how to cook curry?"
"My mother taught me.She grew up in Shirabad where curry is a staple."
Suddenly sadness took over her recalling memories of her mother and her in the kitchen.
Jamil took notice of this and quickly changed the topic.
"Anyother street snacks you like to eat besides wet burgers?"
"Sharwama. There's this guy who comes from the camel market every sunday. He makes real good shawarmas"
Jamil smiled at her proudly.
"Lucky for you I learned how to make shawarma's from him. Camel market is near our house so I visit his stall alot"
"If it's not to much trouble..honestly I wouldn't mind anything you'd cook if it's this good".
She took another bite from her burger.
Jamil stared, finding her really cute,enjoying the food he made. He usually hated cooking but if he was going to be rewarded like this then he wouldn't mind cooking for the rest of his life.
She glanced up to and he suddenly started laughing.
"What is it?" She asked
"Haha you should check yourself in a mirror Seriously how did you get all that sauce all over yourself?"
She blushed looking sideways for a napkin.
"Here hold still. I'll get it off"
He moved closer to her, holding her face gently. she closed her eyes as he wiped the sauce with his napkin.
Despite his composed expression his mind was going haywire, as it imprinted each and every feature of her face.
He blushed while grazing the napkin over her lips, they looked delicate and soft he wondered how they would feel against his own.
"Alright done"
She slowly opened her eyes only to find Jamil gazing at her. His sharp eyes were now the softest they could ever get, filled with nothing but love and desire,almost as if they were pleading for her. As if the only he thing he ever wanted was her.
From a sneaky serpent to a cute puppy.
"Thanks" she spoke.
A gust of wind flew by causing Y/ns hair to get in her eyes
Jamil shakily moved the strands at the back if her ear. Looking deeply into her eyes. Causing her heart beat to quicken even more.
This situation is so cliché but oh well I cant forget about love.
She gave him an eye smile
Jamil couldnt believe his luck. This had become the most perfect date ever. For someone like him who would usually find himself in some sort of trouble all the time.
Maybe this moment really does truly belong to me.
He smiled and looked down.
His eyes suddenly widened
Or maybe I spoke too soon
Sweat staring pouring down and pupils started shaking as the tiny little ladybug landed right on top of his arm.
Y/n saw the sudden change in his expression.
"Jamil are you alright?"
But how could he tell her. He was hyperventilating because of the small creature that just had to ruin his perfect moment.
Kalim said that this place was bug free. Then how did this one get in?
"Su..Sure Everything isss fa..fine" he spoke still eyeing at the ladybug.
Y/n followed his eyes and spotted the tiny red devil that had her host at mercy.
She grinned
"Are you perhaps afraid of the tiny ladybug?"
He gulped
"No.. of course not don't be silly"
She sighed and brought her finger closer to his arm,allowing the ladybug to change paths.
"I'm sorry little one but my friend here doesn't like you yet."she pouted at the bug.
Jamil frowned.
"It's not just ladybug's I don't like bugs in general" he huffed causing her to chuckle
"Hey don't laugh I'm pretty sure you have something you're afraid of aswell"
"Yes doesn't everyone." She smile
"Yes but not always this embarrassing" he pouted
"Close your eyes" she giggled
"What?"
"Trust me"
He closed his eyes and felt his hands being held by foreign soft ones.
He opened them to only find his hands loosely clasped in hers and that lady bug dancing along his index finger.
Jamil didn't understand what to comprehend, either the fact that he was holding hands with the girl he liked or that his greatest fear was in between it.
But strangely he observed it a bit and nothing was happening infact he curious to see how the bug would try to move through there joined hands. It was leaving a more ticklish feeling rather then a slimy or a crawling one.
"See it's pretty harmless right?"
He looked at her who was also immersed at the ladybug who was trying it's best to move up his hands.
"Yes it is"
Jamil then took his other hand and allowed the lady bug to explore to the other side.
"Bugs are gross without a doubt but you shouldn't let the fear of them get in your way. Infact don't let fear of anything get in your way."
"Those are commendable words but how does one conquer his fears if he doesn't want to face them"
She tightened her grip around his hand.
"We'll take it one step at a time. Slowly"
Her words fluttered in his ears, the best melody he had ever heard.
"Ladybug's are sign of good fortune. Something good will happen to you"
He looked at her
I think it already has
He smiled softly gazing at the little red bug on his finger. While fiddling the other hand with hers.
Noone has ever let me face my trivial fear like this. Even Kalim would make fun of me..
"Y/n you really are something"
"Something? Like what?"she asked
"Like.."
"Code Red Code Red! Kid you know what that means"
Iago started yelling as he flew towards Y/ns shoulder.
"Code Red?" Jamil asked really confused by his outburst.
But Y/n had an alarmed expression.
Shit! Meziraths coming back to inspect the third floor.
"I have to leave"
"Already?"
"Yes,I want to stay more but I really have to go and..
"It's alright I understand." Looked the otherway feeling very disappointed.
She took his hands once again making him look in her eyes once more.
"I had a lot of fun today." She confessed but jamil could sense the worry and sadness back in her eyes that was there when he first saw her.
He wanted to see her eyes only sparkling with joy and love.
As she headed quickly towards the parks exit.
"Where can I find you?"
She stopped suddenly. His words echoed in her heart.
Her only escape from her miserable world, her freedom was calling through this boy.
She took a deep breath.
"The balcony on the third floor of the palace. The princesse's room"
The Ballad of Never After Review
This will contain: spoilers, tropes, and some quotes
Where do I  start? This stunning, fast-paced sequel picks up right where Once Upon A Broken Heart left off - with Evangeline swearing off Jacks, and Jacks stuck to Evangeline. I've not read the Caraval trilogy (it's on my list, okay?), but the way Stephanie writes about the world building and fairytales is unlike any other fantasy writer out there, and makes her books so wonderfully unique.
Jacks character really came through in this book - from the outside, his personality remained the same, but his actions and his character were really developed in this book and made me love him even more. I love that he's reckless, immoral, and selfish. He repeatedly states he's bad and only wants one thing and that he's a villain; he's not trying to change himself for others. I love that throughout this book, Evangeline comes to love this maddening side of him while also seeing firsthand how he's caring and passionate, especially towards her.
I've seen some criticism of Evangeline's character in that she's still too trusting and naive. I'd agree with that and go so far as to say it probably won't change in the next book (at least in the beginning), but it's kind of what endears her character to me. She is the quintessential quirky, clever and sweet girl in a fairytale story. She is the Aurora, Cinderella, Jasmin etc. She's a dreamer,I and believes in true love and happy endings and I think that's what makes her a great foil to Jacks. She knows that he's the villain, but it's her love towards him that makes him believe in love and vise versa. His strong will and passionate behavior drive her to love even harder, because she believes at the end of the day love is the strongest emotion of them all and I find that charming and a nice change of pace. She is sweet and a little naive, but she's not helpless. She's strong and caring, but knows when to stand up for herself and when to speak up when she doesn't agree with something.
Spoilers below:
That ending? I've read a lot of reviews that were like "WTF!" and while I agree, I also think that cliffhanger was really well done because not only did it leave me immediately wanting more, it left me with endless theories and I'm truly excited to see where the third book takes us. You know by the end of the book that Evangeline realizes her love for Jacks, and hopes that her love will break his curse but it isn't until she dies that you as the reader truly see how Jacks feels.
"He held her with the type of intensity that only happens when a person wants something that isn't quite theirs."
"...it would have been made clear by the horrible scream of the Fate who held her in his arms. The story curse was familiar with pain, but this was agony, the sort of raw grief that was only seen once in a century. The Fate was every tear that anyone had ever shed for lost love. He was pain given form."
How heartbreakingly beautiful is that line? And even though it devastated me, it also filled me with such joy because it was written confirmation for us readers that he truly did come to love her. While the ending left me reeling, I honestly think the last few chapters (namely starting from 'The End') were my favorite of the entire book because we finally got to see Jacks stripped bare and raw, and how tragically romantic is that? The fact that he willingly sacrificed what he initially believed to be his only chance at true love to save her life is proof in itself that for perhaps the first time ever, he was being selfless for love.
"There is nothing of equal value to me." *swoons*
This is a book I will reread over and over, because it gave exactly what I was hoping it would give, and I cannot wait to see where else the story takes us.
Tropes:
One bed
"Who hurt you?"
"I'll kill anyone who touches you"
Tending to wounds trope
Some of my favorite quotes:
It made far more sense to fall in love with the prince than with the villain. But Evangeline didn't want love that made sense, she wanted love that made her feel, love that made her want to fight and hope for the impossible."
“He held on to her the way a person might grasp the edge of a cliff, knowing once they let go, there was no taking hold again."
"...Evangeline didn't feel as if she were in a ballroom, she felt as if she were in the center of a hundred stories. Love stories and tragedies and tales with endings lost to time. And suddenly, her worries felt lost as well, swept away by a feeling that her life was one of those stories. She'd know it vaguely, but it wasn't until then that the enormity of it hit her."
I have a fanfic, guys, about this❤️🕌
Princess birthday
The throne room of Agrabah's palace was full. How many guests came to the celebration in honor of the birthday of the princess. Everyone was dressed in their best outfits, and the walls, ceiling, floor were decorated with peacock feathers, thousands of gold jewelry, emeralds, sapphires and diamonds. Although Aladdin was dressed in clothes that fit perfectly into the surrounding atmosphere, he still felt like a stranger at this advent of luxury and chic. But all his feelings were hidden under the mask of truly royal clothes, masterfully created by palace seamstresses ... and a little bit of a genie. And Aladdin was also wearing a mask, because the evening ball was conceived as a masquerade. No one knew for sure who was standing in front of him - and this could not but please the former street urchin. After all, if people from the top found out who really became the princess's fiance, they would faint. But on the other hand, Aladdin was worried whether he would overlook Jasmine. She wasn't going to enter the hall to fanfare and fireworks, he knew that well.
To be honest, in his heart Aladdin couldn't wait to steal Jasmine from this ball. Away from these pompous viziers, guests from other cities, retire to the garden or just run through the corridors of the palace so that no one finds them.
A man came up to him and elbowed him in the shoulder.
"Ps, Al," said the masked Genie. - how is the situation on the combat front?
- Nothing yet. I don't see Jasmine....or maybe she decided not to come at all? She doesn't like such lush ones... festivities
- I don't think you celebrate your sixteenth birthday every day - Jeanie suddenly smiled broadly. - I see the goal
- Already? Where? - Aladdin looked around. In the confusion, a feather from his turban fell over his eyes.
Without a word, Genie took his head in his hands and turned it in the right direction.
And Aladdin's jaw dropped. Princess Jasmine could not help but stand out in the crowd with her magnificent dress, like silk peacock feathers, graceful gait and dark thick hair that was gathered high.
Genie pushed him forward, straightening his pen as he went.
- Go ahead, baby!)))))
Aladdin went to Jasmine.
- Can I ask you to dance? he held out his hand to her, pretending not to recognize her.
The princess looked at him...and she smiled without betraying her happiness in any way.
She took his hand, and they both began to spin in a slow dance.
The people around them began to part and murmur softly. Aladdin heard the phrases: who is this young man? - he dared to dance with the princess!
Jasmine advanced towards him, resting her chin on his shoulder and hugging his shoulders.
- I recognized you, Aladdin
- Really? he smiled. - how so?
- You have a special look, my prince - she laughed softly, tickling Aladdin's ear. - and you? Did you recognize me?
- How not to recognize Her Majesty, Princess Jasmine.
"Is it because I'm dressed up like a mummified peacock?"
- Partly yes
They stopped when the music stopped and everyone started applauding.
- It seems we haven't been found out yet, - Aladdin whispered in Jasmine's ear. - can we escape from here?
- To be honest, I wanted to offer you the same
Aladdin took her hand and quietly slipped through the crowd. They went out into the corridor, shushing each other, trying not to laugh. They took off their masks, without much ceremony with them, leaving them on the floor at the door to the hall. Holding hands, they ran down the corridor and when they finally ran through enough rooms, they laughed at the top of their voices. On the run, both Aladdin's turban and Jasmine's tiara flew off. The young man took off his bulky cloak and picked up the princess in his arms. Jasmine's hair had escaped from her hairstyle and was now cascading softly down her shoulders and back in a black cascade. Her long diamond-encrusted skirt and shoulder pad stuffed with peacock feathers flew off after the hairpins in her hair. They remained in light clothes, and ran through the corridors, running from the upper floor to the lower. A couple of times, when the guards showed up ahead, Aladdin changed course, and Jasmine flashed her tongue at the guards' backs. They ran out into the courtyard and got lost in a grove of quartz columns. As soon as Aladdin noticed the edge of Jasmine's pants, he was immediately tapped on the shoulder with soft fingers. He turned around, and purple trousers flashed ahead again, and golden grandmothers sparkled behind the column. Jasmine climbed on the edges of the fountain and whirled on the move, and then fell into the arms of her lover, who pressed her to him and straightened her black curls.
Finally, the lovers decided to take a walk in the garden. You could hear the water splashing in the fountain, the night birds chirping, and the leaves rustling under a light breeze of warm air. Aladdin and Jasmine found a secluded corner at the far end of the garden, sat down under an apricot tree, hugging each other.
- How beautiful the sky is at this time, - Jasmine was lying on Aladdin's chest, while he, leaning back against the trunk of a tree, stroked her head. She was looking at the sky, strewn with stars, in the zenith of which the moon shone.
- yes... - Aladdin was too happy to be distracted from his beloved. He kissed the top of her head and whispered. - can you imagine what a commotion is going on in the palace right now?
- Yes.... - Jasmine closed her eyes, smiling. - everyone is looking for the missing princess...they ask the guards if they have seen her...
and she is lying in the garden...together with a simple young man from the bazaar...
- And she feels good...even better than among the luxurious walls of the palace and diamond jewelry...
- And it's good for him too...beside her, in silence .....
Jasmine chuckled softly.
- Thank you that I have you...I love you
- And I love you. My princess
Girls who lunch
Hey guys! So y’all really liked the meet the parents so I made pt.2. I hope you all enjoy!
————
“Jackie, you’re doing it again.” Jan chided, not looking at her wife as she sipped her water. Jackie froze for a moment before realizing she was, indeed, doing it again. She had perfectly bruised her palms with little crescents from her nails, juts like she had done to her thighs only moments ago.
“Sorry, I’m just nervous.” She responded, now bouncing her knee. Jan smiled at pressed a kiss to her wife’s cheek, feeling how Jackie relaxed at such a small gesture.
“Don’t be. Jasmine is such a sweet girl, you’ll love her.”
“But what if-“
“Jackie.” Jan said sternly, silencing the rest of Jackie’s spiral of anxiety. She grabbed the brunettes hand and squeezed tightly. Jackie inhaled deeply and exhaling, letting her mind clear.
“I just don’t want Daya to get hurt.” Jackie said, resting her head against Jans shoulder. Jan nodded and rubbed the back of Jackie’s hand.
“I know love, but Dayas older now. We have to let her make her own decisions.” Jan reasoned, her eyes scanning the sidewalks for her daughters. “And maybe this will be the one for her, you were doubtful of Gigi too.” Jackie tries to answer but is interrupted by a couple entering the restaurant.
“Hey mom!” A bubbly voice calls through the restaurant. Jackie and Jan turn to face the voice and break into large smiles seeing there oldest daughter, Crystal, with her fiancé. Jackie gets up from her seat and hugs her daughter. Jan follows suit and side hugs Gigi, giving pleasant greetings.
“It is so good to see you both. How was fashion week?” Jackie asks, her nerves disappearing or at least becoming hidden as she focused on the brunette and redhead in front of her.
“It’s was super cool!” Crystal says animatedly, her copper curls bouncing. Gigi nodded as well.
“Everything went fabulously and I couldn’t have had a better cheerleader there either.” She says, leaning into Crystals side, who smiles at the recognition. They all stand and chatter for a few moments when the door bell jingles as Daya and Jasmine walk in.
Jackie’s eyes immediately go to the shorter woman. She was attractive, Jackie admitted, her hair perfectly curled and a smile shining from across the room. But Jackie couldn’t help but feel her nerves return when she saw the baby carrier wrapped around the shorter womans chest.
“Hey Ma.” Daya says, waving and walking forward, Jasmine following suit.
Jan goes and wraps her arms around Daya, squeezing tightly and pressing a kiss to her cheek. “Ohh I’ve missed you so much.” Jackie follows behind Jan, her heart slowing down as she held her youngest close. Daya went and greeted her sister, laughing and smiling wide.
“Anyways I’d like for you all to meet my girlfriend, Jasmine.” Daya says, taking Jasmines hand. She smiled and greeted everyone, one hand resting on her baby’s back.
“It’s wonderful to see you again Jasmine dear.” Jan said, going and hugging the girl. “And is this the little one? My she really has grown!” Jasmine laughs before nodding.
“Yes she is.”
“Well we don’t have to worry about boring her to sleep then.” Jackie joked, motioning to the sleeping girl. Jasmine smiles before extending her hand out to Jackie. “Pleasure to me you Mrs. Cox.” She says in a strong tone. Jackie accepts and feels just how much she’s shaking but also equally how much Jasmines own hand seems to be. She can’t decide if that’s comforting or more worrisome.
There all sat down and begin with normal introductory chatter as Jackie watches Jasmine interact with everyone. She leans close to Daya but still responds openly and laughs with everyone. She seems to get along well with Crystal, bonding over there feline pets. They order relatively quickly and nows when Jackie begins her prodding.
“So Jasmine, you’re a dancer?”
“Yeah I’ve been with Ms. Edwards company for about a year now.” She says, her eyes lighting up at the mention of her passion.
“I’m familiar with Ms. Edwards girls.” Gigi adds. “They’re a pretty notorious group and it’s a difficult company to get accepted into so bravo to you.” Jasmine nods and thanks Gigi for her acknowledgment and praise.
“Yeah the audition process was an absolute nightmare, especially with this one. Jasmine motions towards Ava, still snoring in the carrier. Jackie smiles at the mention, noting how Daya smile grows for a brief moment at the reference.
“We’ll it certainly isn’t easy balancing everything, as a fellow mom in the performance arts.” Jan adds. “But you seem to be handling it relatively well.”
“Well I do have this amazing girl to thank for that.” Jasmine responds, nudging Dayas shoulder. She rolls her eyes and chuckles. Jackie can feel her worry leave her when she sees how Daya acts with Jasmine. She’s still snarky but there’s an air of comfort when she jokes with Jasmine, like she knows what she’s saying won’t hurt her. There food arrives and conversation dims slightly but Jackie still watches on. Crystal talks about her upcoming wedding and Jasmine becomes so absorbed and bounces off of the redheads unmatchable energy. Daya just stares at Jasmine with a look Jackie’s only ever seen on Jan, one of pure adoration and Jackie can finally feel all her worry leave. She feels Jan nudge her side and she turns to the blonde.
“I told you.” Jan says quietly, motioning secretly to Jasmine and Daya. Jackie’s brow furrowed but she then noticed how Dayas hand was placed on Jasmines knee, just like Jans hand on Jackie. Jackie smiled and chuckles.
“Just like her mother.” Jan rolls her eye and noticed a rustle in the carrier as Jasmine looks down smiling. She pulls the girl out of her confined position and Ava babbled to her mother, ignoring all of the guests she was dining with.
“Oh my gosh I love her little dress.” Crystal says, suddenly entranced by the cat printed dress. Gigi admires it silently, seemingly analyzing the garment and the craftsmanship. Daya rolled her eyes and mumbled something and Jasmine nudged Daya, eyeing her as Jan giggled. Then Ava turned and saw everyone else and froze. Jackie was reminded of her own parents meeting Crystal for the first time and how little Crystal had the same wide doe eyes and how tightly she gripped Jackie’s shirt.
“You wanna say hi Avi?” Ava gave a clumsy shake of her head and grabbed onto Jasmines blouse, making everyone chuckle. She turned her head and saw Daya, the crease in her brow leaving. She reached her arms out for her and started babbling loudly.
“Alright alright I’m coming bug, come here.” She sighs, taking the now energetic baby and brings her into her arms. Ava just cuddles into Daya and closes her eyes before returning to sleep again.
“I think someone has favorites.” Jackie said, giggling at how instantly the baby melted into Dayas embrace. Daya stuck it her tongue at Jasmine who rolled her eyes before laughing too.
The rest of the lunch went perfectly. They all laughed and talked, having an amazing time all together. Jasmine talking mostly about NYU, immediately getting Gigi and Jans attention while Daya and Crystal caught up with each other, Ava sleeping peacefully against the formers chest. Jasmine even mentioned her interest of history and talked with Jackie about who knows what, Jackie growing even more fond of the girl. Time passed quickly and soon it was time for everyone to leave and they all filtered out of there table. They all hugged and gave congratulations to Crystal and Gigi as they left, hand in hand. Ava was back in her carrier asleep as Daya and Jasmine said there goodbyes.
“It was really wonderful meeting you Jasmine.” Jackie said honestly. “I hope we see you again soon.” Jasmine nodded and hugged the older woman. She went to hug Daya and squeezed tightly as she hummed at the touch.
Jan hugged Jasmine. “Take care ladies!” She said in a warm voice, finally done with her long goodbyes. Daya and Jasmine nodded before walking out of the restaurant. Jackie could see Jasmines shoulders sag, relieved and start talking with Daya excitedly about who knows what and she couldn’t help but smile.
“So,” Jan prods, taking Jackie’s arm as they leave the establishment. “What do you think?” Jackie inhales and collects her thought, sorting through all of her observations of the blonde woman.
“I don’t think I’m going to have to worry about Daya anymore.” She said confidently.
“She reminded me of someone I know.” Jan added, her heels clicking against the pavement. Jackie hummed and grinned
“Really? Wonder who it could be Jannie?” Jan laughs brightly and hugs Jackie’s arm closer. Jackie sighed as she walked, now at ease. Of course she was still incredibly nervous about Daya and whatever was to come her way in her future but she knew now not to worry about that woman sat beside her.
Book Blurb: This sweet, enemies-to-lovers debut rom-com filled with Chinese astrology will undoubtedly prove to be a perfect match with readers of Helen Hoang, Jasmine Guillory, and Helena Hunting. Always a matchmaker, never a match...
Olivia Huang Christenson is excited-slash-terrified to be taking over her grandmother’s matchmaking business. But when she learns that a new dating app has made her Pó Po’s traditional Chinese zodiac approach all about “animal attraction,” her emotions skew more toward furious-slash-outraged. Especially when L.A.’s most-eligible bachelor Bennett O’Brien is behind the app that could destroy her family’s legacy . . . Liv knows better than to fall for any guy, let alone an infuriatingly handsome one who believes that traditions are meant to be broken. As the two businesses go head to head, Bennett and Liv make a deal: they’ll find a match for each other—and whoever falls in love loses. But Liv is dealing with someone who’s already adept at stealing business ideas . . . so what’s stopping him from stealing her heart too?
Review:
Two rival matchmakers, a bet to find the other one someone to fall in love with, and the most incompatible couple ever.  Olivia Huang Christenson is going to take over her grandmother’s matchmaking business, Lunar Love. It’s all she’s ever wanted. She firmly believes that only compatible Chinese zodiac animal signs make successful couples, she is firmly FIRMLY held in her traditional beliefs. Then she has a cute meet cute with a guy at a bakery...who happens to be the owner of a new Chinese zodiac dating app and her rival in business... Bennett O’Brien, who just also happens to be L.A.’s most eligible bachelor. It doesn’t help that they are incompatible zodiac signs. Liv plans on taking down Bennett even if it means manipulating him into getting a date with him, spying on his business, and sending him a crushing review of his app.... but it turns out he knows exactly who she is and still agreed to go on a date with her because he believes in incompatible couples, her exact opposite belief. Bennett wants to give them a chance but Liv believes they can never work out. Liv has been hurt by incompatible relationships in the past and refuses to be hurt again. When they both end up on a panel and publicly challenge each other’s beliefs, they end up in a contest to see if they can find the other one the perfect match using their own dating techniques/app... except now they are falling for each other. Here’s the thing, I didn’t like Liv at all, I tried, I tried to empathize, I tried to get behind her way but honestly she was so frustrating, childish, and just not that great. Bennett was a really sweet love interest but Liv just grated at my nerves unfortunately. She so firmly behind her stance.. she’s the sign of a horse but my goodness is she as stubborn as one too. As a matchmaker you’d think she’d be a little open to other possibilities. but no apparently thats impossible. The wrap up and sudden 180 in character belief was meh by the end of the book. Honestly I think Liv needs more time to focus on herself and to really work on her perspective because we spend a majority of the book with her arguing with Bennett and denying incompatible zodiac signs and the chance that the pairing could work. So yeah, while it might have started off as a cute rom com it just fizzled out for me. I loved the idea of the book and I am always for fun concepts and showcasing different cultures and ideas, so while this didn’t work for me, definitely give it a try, maybe it’ll be the perfect book for you.
*Thanks Netgalley and Forever (Grand Central Publishing), Forever for sending me an arc in exchange for an honest review*
A Lifetime of Study, by Tepre
Wei Wuxian said, voice hushed, “Have you never been kissed?”
Lan Wangji didn’t move, didn’t flinch, didn’t indicate that he even heard the question. He had only one memory of lips to his skin: his mother, before she’d died. It was a faint memory. The smell of jasmine, earrings like drops of blood. She’d kissed his forehead, called him her little rabbit. Told him to be good, to go back to the main house.
“By a lover,” Wei Wuxian added, as though he’d followed the exact path of Lan Wangji’s thoughts. He said, “On the mouth.”
“I am happy, I’m the happiest,” Wei Ying promises, grabbing Lan Zhan’s hands with his own. “I’m so happy with you, gege, I’m looking forward to today so much! I have so many things I wanna do with you!”
Lan Zhan’s mouth quirks up in a little grin, and Wei Ying finds himself talking just to keep that expression right there, thoughts spilling out of his mouth without his control.
Shenanigans ensue.
With Intent, by KizuKatana (2 chapters)
Lan Wangji had known that Wei Wuxian would not react to him they way he used to: with his whole face lighting up and shouting out "Lan Zhan!" even if they were an entire auditorium apart from each other. But he was still not fully braced for the total lack of reaction from Wei Wuxian other than a temporary stillness and the arching of an eyebrow.
Wei Wuxian did not look away as Lan Wangji approached. Nor did he stand to greet him, much less bow on ceremony. If anything, the man sprawled even more negligently in his seat, watching with quicksilver, unreadable eyes as Lan Wangji approached.
Whoever Wei Wuxian used to be eight years ago, it was clear that Lan Wangji did not know this harder, older version of him.
“Hanguang-Jun,” Wei Wuxian drawled in a greeting that held neither surprise nor warmth. “Surely you must be lost. This isn’t the kind of place for someone as pristine as the illustrious Second Jade of Lan. Especially not at such a late hour.”
The Burial Mounds is a nightclub in the Cultivation Underworld, run by Wei Wuxian, who has been banished from the mainstream cultivation world. After 8 years of separation, Lan Wangji arrives on a mission and their relationship rekindles.
The smell of Sandalwood, by sanlangsteponme
Wei Ying can only climb into Dage's lap and let's the alpha scent him. It feels so safe. Like he's being held by family, a brother. He falls asleep before a-sang is back home.
"What happened dage!? Is he okay?"
" He's fine now a-sang. Those Jiang's are still after him it seems. Wei Ying is exhausted. His state of being scares me a-sang."
Nie Huaisang only gritted his teeth and went to prepare a-ying's bed. He'll deal with those bastards later.
Or
Wei Ying gets kicked out after his first heat and the Nie brothers look after him.
Lan Zhan is drinking vinegar in the corner.
Why a notebook slightly hidden under the bed?, by lilpuffs3 (formatting issue the author will hopefully clear up)
Lan Xichen had always believed that his brother had a great life.
He was the second in command of connected and firm enterprise, and had a long good life ahead of him.
Of course, he knew that his brother did feel lonely, and tried again and again to introduce him to people he could like, but it seemed like Lan Wangji simply wasn't interested.
So, what was a highschool notebook, that clearly wasn't Wangji's, under his brother's bed?!
Aka, the one where Lan Zhan and Wei Ying go to the same highschool but loose contact when Wei Ying is disowned by the Jiangs. So, Lan Zhan keeps his notebook, and maybe also his feelings for him.
The Untamed: To Walk in One's Shoes, by YenGirl
It turns out that that old adage of 'To walk a mile in someone's shoes' proves to be the most effective way for three siblings to understand one another. Too bad there's a wedding involved.
Explicit:
A Narrow Bridge, by FrameofMind & Jo Lasalle (Jo_Lasalle)
Once, Lan Wangji made a choice to step aside. Ten years after Wei Ying’s death, he finds a way back to choose again.
Heart of the Beast, by WaitForTheSnitch
“Wei Ying?” Nie Mingjue prompted him gently. “Where are your parents?”
“They went on a night hunt,” Wei Ying said, a bit evasively.
“Your parents are cultivators?” Da-ge asked in surprise. “Did they leave you here while they hunted? When did they go on their night hunt?”
“Four summers ago,” Wei Ying said a bit uncomfortable.
“Four summers ago,” Nie Mingjue repeated. “What are your parents’ names?”
“My mama is Cangse Sanren and my baba is Wei Changze,” Wei Ying told him, and recognition registered in Nie Mingjue’s eyes.
“Wei Ying,” Nie Mingjue said, sounding a bit regretful, “Your parents aren’t coming back.”
Or, Nie Mingjue and Nie Huaisang run into Wei Ying while in Yiling and decide to bring him home. And it changes everything.
Imbalance, by blueingaround
In hindsight, Wei Wuxian should probably have known something like this would happen. But he was the first person to really invest so much in demonic cultivation and the only way to find out more about how things worked was to simply try them out. The thing about having to deal with ghosts and often harvesting their anger for power is that you can’t really choose which ones are the best fit, especially when you’re desperate and need all the help you can get.
aka Wei Wuxian has an imbalance of yin energy and can't deal with it on his own bc he doesn't have a golden core anymore, he needs to dual cultivate with someone, but in the middle of a war, he has no time and trusts no one, things escalate from there
The Communication Effect, by draechaeli
If only there was more communication, or the right kind then everything would be all right. Wei WuXian and Lan WangJi might be bad when it comes to talking to each other about the important things, but they are still leagues better then the older generation that use communication like swords: concealing, revealing, and striking as they please for their own gain. From apologies, to misunderstandings, to sieges, to rumours and gossip, to cold wars, to lies, to civil wars, Wei WuXian and Lan WangJi navigate the world together once their brothers make sure they’re engaged before the classes at Cloud Recesses are finished.
This fic is finished at 186k in 37 chapters + 3 extras
within the silence, by cherishedpeony (StaySunny)
“I never thought I’d be getting married before I even go on a date.”
Jiang Cheng does nothing to hide his eye rolling and gives Wei Wuxian a healthy shove into the bathroom. “Shut up and stop being so dramatic. It’s not even a wedding. It’s an engagement.”
“How is that any different?” Wei Wuxian looks morosely into the mirror, taking in his reflection in his messy bathroom. “Either way, I’m getting married, before I’ve ever even been on a date! With anyone, at all! Not even Lan—Lan… What’s his name again?”
Jiang Cheng closes his eyes and mouths ‘kill me right now’ before opening them again, an angry look on his face. Really, Jiang Yanli would have been better suited for readying Wei Wuxian for his engagement party but, alas, she’s nine months pregnant and unable to fly into the city. “Lan Wangji. And please, for the love of fuck, don’t forget your fiancé’s name!”
Nothing mattered now. Nothing at all.
“todo da vueltas como un carrusel”
(See warnings/summary on Ao3. The violence definitely escalates here, this is the last chapter before the epilogue!)
<Prologue/Start>
Chapter 8: Artillery
“Okay, spill. What were you talking about back there?”
“Weeell, what if I told you it felt like being in two places at once! Probably would be a major head-trip for humans. But like, Jude really is a piece of my own heart!”
Remus’s flippant mention of humans still unsettled Roman, despite not being one to talk. “What are you rambling about?”
“I saw through its eyes and, BOY, that shit was fun.”
“… why?”
“Did’ja see Steve in the crowd?”
“… yes?”
“As soon as Steve noticed it, he completely forgot about the event and came charging at it. It was HILARIOUS.”
Remus pointedly waggled his eyebrows, emphasizing that word.
Roman chose to ignore it, “I guess I should be grateful for the decoy…”
“In between rage fueled huffs, he totally thought Jude was ME. Screaming ALL of the obscenities and making some of the nearby families clasp their kids’ ears at the audacity. It helped that I told Jude to stay hidden from the ‘normal people’.”
“Okay, that is pretty funny. So what did it look like Steve was screaming at?”
“Oh, just a Jasmine character actor. Ended about as well as you’d expect. The outburst had security haul his ass out of the park, ripping off his bib and EVERYTHING. It did take like five quarterback-sized dudes to do it though…”
Roman nodded as Remus continued, “They also saw how he was packing heat aaand I think he’s banned for life now from setting foot in the Happiest Place On Earth! They had to call the cops! Too bad the boys in blue were too incompetent to get a bead on him. Who knew how slippery that fucker could be?”
“So, he’s still at large and even more pissed off about us?”
Remus nodded entirely too eagerly, “El hijueputa was definitely a string-pull away from unraveling like Oogie Boogie! But hey, Jude totally let me Feed on that shit show!”
At that point, Remus was doubled over, cackling while relating everything to Roman.
-
For the time being, Remus’s little creation did allow his family to breathe. Remus leisured in regaling Jude’s adventures in leading Steve on a wild goose chase.
Remus recalled it some of the time, holding off from prancing about, causing chaos around him. He said he just liked to be able to experience the ocean the way he felt he was meant to.
Roman tried to find little ways to Feed himself. While he was grateful his own Hunger wasn’t so violent, it did take far more creativity on his part to sate. Roman was nevertheless wary.
A warranted worry, when he started hearing intermittent screams coming from his neighborhood. He noticed intermittent and animated conversations held between the neighbors outside. It was strange because whenever he had the chance to check, Remus was actually asleep through all of it, if in the middle of tossing and turning.
One time, Roman took a walk by one of the conversations, “… you had one of those too!?”
“I have no idea why I was in a boat, I get way too seasick for that–”
“Yeah. Getting knocked around like a drenched rag doll sucked.”
“Did you guys see something in the water too?”
“You mean the tentacles!?”, they collectively shuddered.
Roman pretended he was just listening to his mp3 player and walked along.
It was getting bad when he heard his mom being one of the people waking up screaming. For as long as he could remember, she never had an episode quite like this.
“Mamá!?”, Roman dashed toward his parents’ room.
When he got there, his dad was already attempting to help her calm down. It took awhile for her to get control over her breathing again. She eventually spoke, “It’s-it’s okay. Just a bad nightmare, you two. Thanks for the concern.”
He thought about Janus’s warning. He felt a different kind of restlessness that simply knew Remus was responsible for it.
Later that day, when they were alone, Roman pulled his brother aside. “We need to talk.”
Remus looked at him confused, “About what?”
“I think… your Horror has been going around giving the neighborhood nightmares!”
“Sounds like fun!”
“No! Not when you got to Mom too.”
Remus gave him a shrug, “So that’s why my Lair’s been a little... roomier. I wish I was actually aware of that happening.”
“I-I don’t want our parents hating us.”
“I wouldn’t worry about it, Robro.”
“Why!?”
“Don’t you think they would’ve kicked us out by now… or worse, if that was going to happen?”
“W-well…”
“Sometimes I don’t get why they haven’t, though. We are pretty dangerous, after all. Humans are weird.”
Roman shivered again, “… do you even care about them? Us?”
Remus’s tone suddenly became piercing, “DON’T. Test. Me. With. THAT.”
Roman immediately regretted questioning him, “I-I’m sorry. I just– worry…”
-
The early part of the school year meant many things for the Espinozas.
One of those things being Carrie and Vic’s anniversary. While the twins were in high school, their parents had started to entrust the two to handle themselves on the occasion. They would often have a night out somewhere a little fancy, while the twins did other things.
This year was different in the palpable unease over the separation. Roman and Carrie were the most worried, wanting to keep the ranks close. They wanted to make it a quaint dinner at home. Vic and Remus convinced them that they needed this, now more than ever.
The twins took off before their parents did, to have some fun at a nearby major climbing gym. It was open late and they arrived after sundown. Roman wanted to trounce some of the members there at the wall and Remus simply enjoyed watching his brother decimate pretty much everyone there. So what if he had a clearly unfair advantage as a dragon. It was a small miracle that he didn’t get them too angry to tolerate them.
Roman felt like he had a pretty good Feed while there, “Thanks, Rem.”
“I woulda suggested something like the Aquarium of the Pacific tonight but–”
“I– didn’t want to be too far away from home.”
“I know, I know.”
“You think they’re enjoying themselves?”
Remus shrugged, “I’d rather not think of our parents getting all lovey dovey, thanks.”
“Fair point, excuse me while I vomit a bit into my own mouth at that thought.”
Their parents told them when they were going to leave that night. Nearly a couple hours later, Roman got fidgety, “I-I think we should go back, now…”
The twins almost lost track of the time, Remus especially. Even though he didn’t seem too worried, he didn’t fight over it, “Okay, fine.”
When they did return, at first somewhat relieved that the car wasn't in the driveway. But when they noticed the front door was left slightly open, they knew something was wrong.
Roman stepped closer, asking vainly, “¿U-upe?”
The picture got worse once they entered. The place was trashed. There were things knocked over, dents left in the walls, and cracks in the kitchen tile floor. There was a struggle. Roman frantically looked around to find their parents or any indication of what even went down here.
He dashed to the kitchen counter top, noticing something. Remus followed, confused, “What’s up?”
“Look,” Roman grabbed a crumpled note and unfolded it.
It took Roman only a second to read it. He gasped, “O-oh God.”
Remus frowned as he read too, “ORANGE VILLA HIGH SCHOOL GYM. I HAVE YOUR FAMILY.”
Roman was thrown into a panic, “Fuck-fuck-fuck–”
Remus grabbed his brother by the shoulders, “Let’s just GO.”
Roman collected himself and nodded.
-
It was well past the open hours of the campus, once they arrived.
There were few lights on for the skeleton crew still working there. Roman knew something was wrong as every security camera looked obliterated. Remus on the other hand was just scowling, single-mindedly storming toward the gymnasium.
Some lights were shot out. Remus remained unfazed by the low light, as Roman followed close.
They were in the last hallway toward the gym entrance when they saw blood. A lot of blood. And a body.
Roman stared at it, “I-I’m going to be sick…”
Remus approached it, “I didn’t like Mr. Wells. But he didn’t fucking deserve this.”
It was one of the janitorial staff, shot dead. Without another word, the twins took off into the gymnasium.
The first thing they honed in on was the sound of muffled distress across the court. A pair of people bound and gagged back to back in a couple chairs.
Roman shouted, “NANAY!”
Remus shouted simultaneously, “PAPÁ.”
They weren’t thinking about the danger, until they heard a gunshot and the bullet buried itself inches from their feet. The muzzle flash had come from one of the higher bleachers.
They stared at the gunman. Steve Silverhammer stood there with an intense look of cold anger, readying another shot.
“GOOD. YOU’RE FINALLY HERE. I WAS GETTING IMPATIENT.”
Roman looked at his parents and back at Steve, “Why couldn’t you leave them alone!? They’re just–”
“HUMANS? NO. THEY’RE JUST BAIT.”
Steve fired another shot.
Their mom screamed under the gag, it was clear that she was hit but not where. That was the final straw. Roman saw red as he ran up to Steve about to do what he should’ve done last time. He readied his claws, bounded forward, and managed to land a deep slash across Steve’s chest.
Steve was prepared for that, despite wincing. As Steve evaded further blows, Roman saw the massive pile of pins sitting nearby. Roman lost his focus and froze. Steve gave a short laugh, slamming the rifle stock hard into Roman’s face, making him tumble down to the court’s floor.
Before Roman could get back up and reorient, Steve grabbed several of the pins and threw them all around the court. Roman was a sitting duck, again paralyzed by Steve’s blasted curse, as Steve took aim.
Remus was incensed, he growled like a feral animal and clenched his own fists white. Jude appeared before them, just in time to float into the line of fire.
Another shot.
Jude let out an unearthly screech but it was still able to move and take Steve’s attention. Long enough for Remus to start hunching over, breathing heavily.
Roman could barely get his mouth to work, his jaw flaring in pain and still fixed by his curse, “R-Rem?”
When Remus looked up, his eyes flared green and he smiled with incredible ferocity. The smile started to distort and lengthen in ways it shouldn’t be able to. His teeth seemed to sharpen. Roman saw how much larger the superimposed image of Remus’s Horror was and its tentacles rapidly swept up the pins on the court.
Before anyone could ask. Remus’s mouth opened up into a giant maw, consuming many of the offending distractions in one fell swoop.
Remus’s mouth closed like a zipper and his parents’ eyes widened at the display. With no delay, he shot a humongous tentacle out to grab Steve. The move knocked the rifle from Steve’s grip and it clattered into the bleachers.
Roman had the opening to run toward their parents.
As Remus slowly started to crush Steve, Roman took the gags off their parents. He frantically looked over his mom to find out where she was hit.
Carrie stammered, sucking in breaths to deal with the pain of her wound, “I-It’s okay… he just– he just–”
She glanced down at one of her legs, blood pooling around it. It didn’t take long for the two of them to realize the shot landed in one of her shins. It wasn't clear how bad the injury was, in that moment. Roman growled as she continued, wincing in pain, “I-is Remus going to–?”
Vic, the sweet man that he was, pleaded to Steve, “Your family provides well for you and-and– what would–”
Somehow, Steve was able to rasp sharply as Remus was squeezing him, “What makes you think I give a shit about them? No matter how many Beasts I've slain, they NEVER believed me.”
Remus’s face twitched as he slammed Steve into the opposing bleachers with enough force to cave them all in. Remus couldn’t stop, not that he wanted to. The violence and thrill of it put him in a trance. Remus continued to slam him repeatedly into the ever enlarging crater.
It almost completely distracted Carrie from her pain, as Remus threw Steve into the scoreboard on one of the gymnasium's wall. It was with enough force to dent the metal case and crack the plexiglass elements. When Steve became unresponsive, he limply fell out of it and landed on the court’s floor with a sickening thud. He was basically pulp, making both their parents avert their eyes for a moment.
Remus moved onto tearing the place apart, his Hunger overriding any awareness of what he was really doing. He tore down one of the baskets with the backboard and some of the supports that attached it to the ceiling. Said supports showing signs of corrosion damage that certainly wasn’t there before. He threw it into the intact set of bleachers causing debris to explode in all directions.
Vic gasped.
Roman was too focused on trying to free their parents and worrying about their mom to comment.
Remus continued his rampage, filling the space with distracting cacophony.
After a few beats, Steve started to twitch and convulse.
Carrie noticed and struggled to be loud enough to get anyone’s attention, “R-Roman. Roman. Ro–”
Remus wasn’t paying attention when the remaining pins were flung every which way. Nor did he notice when Steve’s rifle was thrown toward Steve.
“Roman. ROMAN.”
Steve sluggishly reached for the gun, still horrifically mangled.
“What? I’m almost d–”
Carrie screamed, “TURN AROUND!”
Roman turned around and saw Steve. He was still extremely broken, shaking as his body slowly started to recover from Remus’s beating. He had just enough reset bones to be in the middle of pulling out another round from his pocket and reloading the gun.
Roman cursed that Remus didn’t destroy all of the God-forsaken pins. If not for them, Roman would have been quicker to react. It may’ve been because he was getting hungrier or the fact there were fewer around, but this time he did manage to start clawing his way toward Steve.
Vic screamed, “REMUS. STEVE HE’S–”
Steve made the split second decision to aim at Remus this time. Gun braced near his face, the aperture swaying, Steve let loose a breathy but crazed laugh, “I… can’t… let...”
Steve squeezed the trigger once and then twice when it didn’t fire. Despite the stall, there wasn’t enough time to react once another bang was heard. Remus froze.
The explosion was bigger.
The explosion was wrong.
The gymnasium rang, before becoming deathly quiet.
Remus blinked, desisted and patted himself down. He was baffled why he wasn’t–
The silence was interrupted by Carrie making some dry heaves.
Once the dazzle of the explosion wore off, Roman saw it.
Everyone saw it.
Steve was entirely unrecognizable.
Steve wasn’t moving anymore.
Steve wasn’t breathing at all.
The twins stared at him while their parents had turned around.
The twins blinked at the bloody mess that used to be Steve, smeared across the wall.
The twins saw the rifle. It burst apart at the loading chamber. Misfire.
The silence dragged.
The silence ended when they heard the sound of someone frantically running toward the gym.
It was Janus, panting as they looked at the scene in front of them.
“A-are any of you hurt?”
Remus started cackling, “Are you kIDDING ME!?”
Everyone was taken aback, including Janus, “Care to elaborate, little sea monster?”
“It’s like crushing a fly that had the sheer fucking AUDACITY to piss you off. I feel fucking GREAT.”
The twins realized there was an absence of feelings that they should be having, while their parents sat there lost in shock. Janus cleared their throat to speak again, eventually pointing at the corpse under the scoreboard, “We really must take our leave, before this place crawls with Heroes. Come, I’ll take you and your… parents to aid them someplace safe. I’ll clean that up shortly too...”
The twins nodded as they carefully ushered their freed parents along.
His family’s touch seemed to spur Remus to smile back at them in a way that looked actually human. Despite none of them coming away from the ordeal unscathed, Roman was glad they could save their parents.
Between the twins, they made the unspoken promise to protect them ever more fiercely.
Someone to Watch Out for You: Chapter 20
Nothing’s Like Before, But Has it Really Changed?
Summary: In which the worlds return to normal, a certain witch watches as Ven reflects on his home, Sabrina returns to Wasteland, and Minnie fears for what comes next. Word Count: 2,682 First | Previous | Thank you for reading! ☆ ⚬ ☆ ⚬ ☆ ⚬ ☆ ⚬ ☆ ⚬ ☆ ⚬ ☆ ⚬ ☆ ⚬ ☆
And so, Sora sealed the keyhole at Hollow Bastion and went on to confront Ansem. The Princesses of Heart, Ventus, and Sabrina waited in fearful anticipation for a sign that the worlds were whole once more.
It was Sabrina who became that signal. Without warning, in the middle of a discussion with Aurora, Sabrina’s whole body lurched forward. The sudden motion certainly surprised the sleeping beauty and quickly earned the attention of the others.
“Sabrina!” Ven immediately reacted as he went to her side. The other Princesses also huddled around in worry.
Not that they needed to. Despite the faintest trace of a tear rolling down her face, Sabrina’s expression was determined.
“The worlds…” Sabrina told them, “The worlds are returning.”
Not long after her saying this, the Princesses started to be enveloped in a sparkling light. They marveled at this for a moment,- they knew what had to be done now.
“Oh my,” Alice mused first, “How curiously wonderful. I do hope my sister wasn’t too worried about my absence.”
“It would be nice to see all our loved ones again.” Cinderella agreed.
The two Princesses of Heart held their hands over their respective hearts. A moment after and their bodies burst into bright sparkles that disappeared just as quickly. They were followed not long after by Aurora, Jasmine, and Belle. Belle, in particular, smiling up at the Beast as they left together.
“Ventus,” Snow White said, moving close to him despite her inner light being a bit too strong. She was holding it back for a little longer so they could properly part. “Don’t be such a stranger next time, alright? You’re welcome in our world any time. You have my blessing.”
“Thanks.” Ven grinned.
“And…” Snow White then whispered, “Your hearts are at their brightest when you’re together. Having a heart that purposely holds back its light is a strong one indeed, but has much to lose in the process. Do make sure she is able to shine- in her own time, of course.”
Ven gave a small jump in surprise before turning to Sabrina. He looked back at Snow White with a face quite more flushed than before.
“I will.” he promised. “I always will.”
Snow White gave him one last smile before she too returned to her homeworld. That soon left just him and Sabrina alone in the chapel. Every step he took now was in a haunted echo as he went to her side.
“I bet Oswald will be glad to have you back home.” he mused, giving her a little bump with his elbow.
“He won’t be the only one.” she huffed in return. “I can already see at least one parade in our future.”
Ven laughed at the idea. However, not long after his smile soon fell as he thought of a different type of homecoming.
"Can we make a small detour before going home?" he asked. “There’s someplace I want to check first.”
Sabrina raised an eyebrow, but certainly didn't oppose the idea. Her only question was a simple, "Where?"
. . .
He didn't know why he expected the world to change. Maybe even after all this time, he was still as naive as the day he left.
“So this is the world you came from?” Sabrina inquired as she looked over the castle. She wouldn’t dare say much more than that at the moment- she of all people knew what it was like to come from a broken world.
“No." Ven said. He then immediately shook his head to amend with, "Well, yes, but in a different way.”
He didn't have to look to know Sabrina was giving him a rather unimpressed stare.
"My friend changed this world when a series of terrible events put it in jeopardy." Ven explained to her, although he was sure he had told her this before. “I thought -hoped- that, once the worlds were back in order, the Land of Departure would be too. But I guess Aqua is the only one with that power.”
He then gave a rather disheartened laugh.
"Now that you're here with me, I want to show you where we used to train. I want to bring you into my room for once. But I can't. There's nothing to show because it simply isn't here anymore. Every step forward is like a phantom memory into the past. I know where things should be, but they just don’t exist anymore.”
"Which means?" Sabrina asked- meaning to be more curious than rude for once.
“It’s a place I used to call home.”
“And now?”
Ven looked at her. They were still in their Keyblade armor, having not intended to stay around for long to begin with. Moreover, Sabrina's presence seemed to quell the same thoughts he had last time he was here. His heart now understood what it truly wanted.
"I have a new home." he said. "With you, and Minnie, and everyone in our twin worlds. And it's time to return to them. Come on, I'll race you to the Gummi Ship!"
Grinning, Ven gave himself a head start without waiting for Sabrina's response. She would have immediately followed him had it not been for a certain feeling, bringing her attention back to Castle Oblivion. It took a moment more for Ven to realize she wasn't following.
“Sabrina?”
At first, she didn’t respond.
“I thought I could feel…” she murmured to herself. She then shook her head. “Never mind. You’re not the only one who gets phantom memories here, apparently.”
Ven gave her a curious tilt of his head. Before he was able to press further, Sabrina bounded on past him.
"I thought you said this was a race?" she called from over her shoulder. "Hurry up already!"
It took him a moment, but a wide grin soon etched itself onto Ven's lips. He raced on after her without a second thought.
Meanwhile, from her room in Castle Oblivion, a young woman with shoulder length blonde hair and a simple white dress was just finishing her last drawing. It was a rather simple one- the exterior of Castle Oblivion well established as the focal point, and toward the main door were two figures in splendid armor. The figure on the left was colored almost exclusively with copper green and bluish greys. The one on the right had been given pastel blues and desaturated purples.
“It’s okay,” Namine said through a pained smile, “I wouldn’t believe I was here either.”
She held her drawing up so the light caught it a bit better. She continued to smile as a single tear traced down her cheek.
. . .
Sabrina let out a sigh of absolute relief once her feet touched Wasteland soil again. Her whole body relaxing in such a way, Ven thought he'd have to steady her. He let her have this moment of peace. If the Land of Departure had been fixed, he likely would have done the same thing not ten minutes before.
"Glad to be home?" he teased, giving her a little bump with his elbow.
"Shut up." she immediately shot back. "Let me have my peace. This time tomorrow it'll be back to impromptu bunny children dog piles and supervising gremlin experiments. I'm more exhausted thinking about that than the fact we helped bring the worlds back to order. Sorta."
Attempting to hold back a certain tell, Sabrina bit her lower lip before turning to Ven. In a voice that tried to be as neutral as possible, she said to him, "Can you take me back to Dark Beauty?"
"Of course." Ven agreed with a nod. "It would be a knight's honor in escorting the fair princess back to her quarters."
Sabrina immediately scoffed in disgust. All it did was lead Ven into a light laughter at her expense.
The journey to Dark Beauty was spent in silence. Sabrina did not stray far from him, however, and experience had taught Ven that she had far more on her mind than what she wanted to admit. It would come eventually. Every step they took to her bedroom grew smaller in stride the closer they got. Sabrina hesitated as she reached for the door handle.
"Guess I can't convince you to spend the night?" she quietly asked, turning toward him. "Been awhile since we've spent a day alone in a single room..."
"You know I want to. Really." Ven admitted. “But what I have to do next, I have to do alone.”
“And what if you don’t come back?” she finally demanded- almost attempting to hold back the more accusatory tone. “What if this is the last time I'm able to stare you down just to find crude ways to say-”
He didn’t give her the chance to finish. He brought his hand up to her face and pulled them into a gentle, longing kiss. She mumbled a protest at first, out of habit, but soon pulled on his clothes just to bring them closer. The light shared between them almost rivaled that to a Princess of Heart.
. . .
‘A year. I’ll give myself a year.’
Ventus looked around his humble room at Disney Castle and sighed. The kiss with Sabrina still lingered on his lips. It had been a promise. A confirmation. At the same time, it really did feel like he’d never see her again. It felt like he wouldn’t be seeing any of this again. But he had to go. He had to go on this mission. There was no telling what damage could be happening if he waited too long on this.
“Are you leaving again? You’ve only just gotten back.” Minnie’s voice, small but still gentle, inquired from his door. Ven’s heart sank when he realized he was leaving one other person out of the loop on this. “I was going to have the baker make you a cake as a thank you for saving the worlds.”
“Well, I guess he’d be saving those ingredients for later, because I wasn’t the one who even did that.” Ven replied with a light snort. “That was all Sora. If anything, the adventure I went on was a resounding failure. But Sora? He sacrificed himself for a friend, and he’s ready to do it again for the other.”
Ventus looked over at Queen Minnie. Her face was somber and her fingers were tightly knit within each other. She was worried, it wasn’t that hard to figure out. It was then that the knight considered he should have asked for her permission before deciding to take off again. Or, at the very least, warned her before now.
“Queen Minnie,” he then said, using a tone of voice he reserved for the most formal of occasions, “I must embark on a personal journey. Back in Hollow Bastion, in order to free Kairi’s heart, Sora also released Vanitas. I have to find him. I won't let someone disrupt the balance of light when the worlds are starting to return to normal. Especially when that someone was an extension of myself to begin with.”
Minnie stepped a bit closer.
“And you’re sure about this?” she asked.
“I know that I have to go.”
“That’s not what I’m asking.”
Ven looked down.
“I have to go alone,” he insisted. “Wasteland needs Sabrina. Disney Castle needs you. Vanitas is the shadow I cast, and it can only be me that goes to confront him.”
Minnie also averted her gaze down. She brought her hands up to her chest in small prayer.
“I see…” she softly agreed. When she looked up at him again, her smile was a little less brighter than usual. “If I can not change your mind, then would you mind if I helped you prepare?”
The request made his heart jolt.
“Of course not!” he said. “I would love to have your guidance! It would be nice to leave home with an actual plan for once. Have the proper material to survive and all that. Can you believe I followed Terra without a munny to my name? I got here and couldn’t buy a single thing! The food smelled so good too…”
Minnie had to laugh a bit. However frustrating it must have been then, it was a good thing that it ended up working out.
“To think,” Minnie mused, “This all started because you helped Huey, Dewey, and Louie with their ice cream machine.”
“No.” Ven lightly disagreed with a shake of his head. “This all started when I decided to stay here. Well, Pluto helped a bit with that, but I still could have left once I got my Wayfinder back.”
Minnie gave a light smile as she went through Ven’s clothes. If he was going away for awhile, he needed to pack the better ones- as to make sure they wouldn’t fall apart a week after departure. Perhaps a few of the slightly oversized clothes as well, just in case. Perhaps she could slip in a potion or two in the pockets? Surely they would organize what rations he should take along too. And ether. The boy didn’t use magic often as his primary attack, but it would never hurt to throw a few bottles of ether in there.
“The castle is going to feel so empty now.” she thought out loud, almost in a saddened sigh. “Donald and Goofy are still with Sora, Mickey in the Realm of Darkness with that poor Riku child. Even the nephews were talking about the next shop they’d open. It will just be me and Daisy- and Pluto if he feels like coming around again.”
The queen didn’t have enough time to realize she was crying. Several small tears dripped onto the shirt she was trying to fold. Ven immediately picked up on this. He placed a hand over hers in comfort.
“Your Majesty, please don’t cry.” Ven tried to soothe. “You know I would stay if I could. Honest.”
“I know, I know…” Minnie agreed as she tried to wipe away her tears. “I’m just… so worried, for all of you. At the same time, I’m so, so proud. I just…”
Ven crouched down so he was at better height with the queen. He then wrapped his arms around her and held on tightly.
“You’ll be in my heart- now and always.” he promised in a soft voice.
Despite weeping harder still, Minnie was able to smile.
. . .
As Ven walked out to the castle greens where the Gummi Ship hangar was secretly hidden, he already knew he’d leave his ship behind. Despite his personal preferences on power sparks, they still lost their juice at some point. He couldn’t take the risk of one giving out during something important. Using solely the Keyblade glider would, admittedly, limit what he could and could not carry on him.
But at least he knew Queen Minnie would always be there to help him if he needed to come back to the castle. Everyone in Wasteland would too, come to think of it. Even Sabrina wouldn’t get that mad if he didn’t look too beaten and bruised. Miffed that he wouldn’t be staying, sure, but when Vanitas was done for, they could have all the time in the world to see no one but each other for weeks on end.
Ventus could find himself a bit of solace in that. If he was walking into another failure, then at least he knew what people kept watch over him. Even now he could almost believe that Terra and Aqua were still out there, looking for him and cheering him on.
Once he got to the Lanes Between, Ven took one last look at the world he called home for the past decade. He pulled out his Wayfinder and angled it just so the light of the world shone through the glass in the charm. He could hear all his friends encourage him. There was no turning back now.
“You better hope you have someone to watch out for you, Vanitas,” Ventus vowed, “Because I won't let you get away again.”
