A stranger at a party releases Brennu Zahin from an enchantment, and while he recovers, they write letters. They shouldn't have much in common, but Elyn of Procyon is determined to be his friend, not just his rescuer.
A fic for a different D&D campaign than usual! This is the Godsfall campaign, what I was writing epistolary recaps about over at @letterstosestrilles over the past five years, and this is the first non-recap fic!
This is 32k, a slowburn romance with lots of epistolary elements and trauma recovery (mind the warnings), and a decent introduction to the campaign since it’s an NPC’s viewpoint of it from level 8 on. If it intrigues you, there are links to the blog at the end!

spock’s room decor is actually fucking bonkers. The weapons??? the big red velvet curtain??? like ok phantom of the opera go crazy.
for reference jim’s room has some photos and a plant so we can surmise this is uniquely a spock being a dramatic weirdo thing

Inspired by recent discussions of an Actual Play.
EDIT March 22: I can't believe I have to do this. *sigh*
I have played LOTS of games other than D&D. I GMed a podcast for 6 years that was literally about playing obscure games.
TTRPGs that don't use dice (or any randomizer) are still TTRPGs and great fun.
The "win condition" of a TTRPG is having fun with your friends (this can include stories that end with everyone crying).
I believe that there are three parties that have input on the story: the players, the GM, and the dice. Obviously this changes if you're playing a game that gets rid of 1 or 2 of those elements. This includes games that aren't D&D.
If a certain dice result would be uninteresting enough that you'd want to discard it entirely, you must ask why you would roll in the first place. This is the same for whether that would be success OR failure.
Finally, check out my Itch store.
EDIT April 3: I'm muting this now. Too many notifications explaining the stuff I put in the first edit to me like I'm an idiot. God, Tumblr really can't handle a joke.

I’ve seen so many versions of the tma finale where Jon is a distorted thing with a bunch of eyes floating above the ground but hear me out:
The moment Jon becomes the pupil of the eye, he looks even more like himself than he’s looked in years.
I dunno I feel like the implications are kinda sick.
