bg3, infographics, mysogyny and you
Preface: this is a long ass post that I wrote some many weeks ago, and that because of some stuff I've seen, I'm compelled to finally post it. It's very like a spurn of the moment thing, not extremely well thoght out but I still think it's relevant.
.
Recently, a few people have posted some, in my opinion, really insightful infographics showing the difference in content to how many works (in AO3) there are to the female characters vs the male characters of BG3 and I've been thinking about how it relates to fandom in general, but also...everything.
As a quick rundown, what happens is: almost all of the female characters have a lot less content when compared to their male counterparts (at least writing wise). And I think this is a great moment to stop and think on why is that.
There's a lot of point to begin with but I want to begin with something larger and that is the society most of us are raised in. Obviously, I can't speak for everyone, but I think it's fair to say that most people grew up in places that had its fair share of sexism and give it or take, that does shape how we view the world.
I'll speak from my own experience. Even thought I had a mostly liberal upbriging, I went to a very conservative school and when I was growing up, I saw a lot of videos on youtube that anaylized media in what i can only describe as "god forbid women do anything". Video after video, I saw people commenting on how x female character was a mary sue, how she made no sense and ruined the plot, so many video essays on the """strong female character trope"""" that would end up just enforcing gender roles again. And I'll be honest, this DID affect how viewed female characters.
The best example I can give of this is with bg3 itself. There was one day that I stopped and realized that Minthara was the first time I ever obsessed over a fem character as much as any male character. And the second thought I had after this was 'oh my god why???'
Why did I always cater more to the male characters than I did to the female ones, when most of the times, I liked a lot as well?
I'd like to point out that I've seen the topic of "Most fic authors are cis straight women" being brought up a lot and frankly, I'm not the biggest fan of it. First, because I think it's overall a very...heteronormative way of seeing stuff and it's assuming a lot of stuff that puts a sour taste on my mouth (as a queer woman myself, I really don't like that implication but that's on me). Second, because saying that 'obviously women are going to write more about men' feels very...weird. Third, I just think that this argument fails to really question the why of it all and gives too simple an answer to something is anything but.
One can make the argument that these female characters are written differently than the men, and yes that is true and it's even historical (I wrote a whole project on the invisibility of women in theater through the ages and a lot of it has to do with how women were written, but that's a story for another time).
But I don't think that's true for all cases. It's easy to blame an imaginary writer's room than question that you might have internal biases.
Because at least it's what happened to me. I grew up hearing how female characters were inferior to the male characters and it affected how I viewed them. It's something I had to stop and reevalute and it led me to appreciate characters I once loathed.
And it sucks to realize that. It sucks to realize that even as a woman myself, I was not immune to commiting sexism, that I hadn't fully outgrown the shit I saw as a kid. Does that make me a bad person? No. You're not to blame for being raised in a way that leads you to have certain prejudices.
But it doesn't mean you can't do anything about it.
And no, the solution is not to suddenly go write a bunch of femslash. Because no one is saying that you should feel ashamed for writing more for men, or forcing you to like female characters. But, I ask you to do something much simpler.
Think on the why. Why, even when we love female characters, we don't show them as much love as we do to the male ones. Why we might feel more compelled to write for the men than for the women. Because sometimes it's questioning ourselves that we can find something about us we didn't know and change how we engage with media.
And you can brush this off as just fandom stuff, but I think it does, in some ways, also reflect a bit on how we act as whole as a society. Hell, writing this whole thing made me think of how the way I was raised still interferes with my own sexuality (which is a very personal topic for me to get on here but it was worth mentioning). What I'm trying to say is that sometimes something small is an easier way for us to understand the bigger, systemic issues around us.
I know that it sounds like there's nothing to be done cause fandoms have always been like this. But, personally, this sort of conformity to the norm causes more harm then good. Things won't change unless you decide to do something about it. And the good thing about fandom is that it's small enough that doing literally anything can create some impact than, I don't know, trying to solve big, real life societal issues.
This is getting long so I'm gonna try to wrap this up quickly. No one is shaming you if you write or obsesses more or even care more about male characters than you do female ones. I just ask you to think about it and be honest with yourself. Because then maybe, just maybe, next time you engage with another media, you might end up enjoying a female character much more and obsessing over them just as much.

Wines Inspired by Characters Henry Oak from Dungeons and Daddies [FULL EXPLANATION]
Starting off the series with one of my favorite characters from the podcast here's some notes I've written down for the wine.
Grape Type: So Henry having a vegetarian/vegan diet I wanted something that would pair nicely with this. There were mentions of foods like Trail Mix, Nuts, Mushrooms and dried oats and a few wines fit perfectly with this but since Chardonnay is known for it's buttery taste due to it's fermentation in OAK Barrels the choice was a bit obvious.
Dry or Sweet? Plus, this type of wine is known for being either sweet or dry depending on the temperature it was grown in. I feel like this reflects Henry's personality as he's both super sweet caring and very much a pacifist but also dry, angry and stressed.
Body So, the body reflects not only on the amount of alcohol the wine has but also, it's acidity, color and tannins.
Acidity is sour and makes your mouth water but tannins dry your mouth. That being said, medium body just means that there is a balance between both tannins and acidity and that it's within a 12.5%-13.5% alcohol level. Oaked Chardonnays are known for this.
The alcohol level is reflected on the amount of natural sugar the grapes have which can vary by the soil type, climate and variant. This does NOT reflect on the overall sweetness of the wine. Sweet wines usually have lower alcohol levels than bold wine since most of the glucose is broken up and fermented during the process there for making more alcohol.
Flavors and Aromas: Several sommeliers have explained that flavors and Aromas AND will vary depending on the pallet. There are a few that are more noticeable to several but others that aren't. That is part of the magic and art of wine tasting. That being said for Henry's Inspired wine I did use some fruits mentioned in his dialog during season 1. More specifically this quote:
What the freakin ding dang, gosh darn, dilly willy, heckin' shark tooth, banana chicanery, rootin' tootin', raspberry freaking FUCK are you two doing here?! -Henry Oak (Dungeons and Daddies Season 1)
Although banana and shark tooth aren't main notes for this wine, I feel like Henry would use these terms to describe it. Raspberry on the other hand WOULD be a nice main note, alongside the classic vanilla and Oak combo from classic chardonnay with a hint of green apple, Jazmin and general minerals. Those last three I feel reflect Oakville a lot beside the obvious OAK.
Bottle Design The main label reflects the physical appearance of the character both in its podcast cover and in the character's intro from Will Campos.
"Henry Oak is the Birkenstock rocking, crunchy, munchy, hippie, nature druid dad of the group."
Wanted to stick with the colors from the Cover art but with a more neutral tone so that it matches the colors and hue of this hypothetical wine.
Having the iconic Berkenstocks in the background on a rocky stone grown with vines growing around it, just felt like the perfect vision for Henry. And as a little homage to on of the several dadfacts I added a Trilobite insignia on the top of the wine cap.
Finally, I added the important info such as where it would have been produced, by what bodega and when. Obviously, Oakville in the Forgotten Realms would have been an interesting place to grow grapes. Bodega Daddies because it sounds both funny and well fitted and finally it's from 2019 because that's when Henry Oak first appeared in the first episode of that same year.
And I think that just about does it!!!
Thank you so much for reading and I'll be following up with the next wine of the series. Which character should I make a wine for next?

Plot Summary: A water contamination scheme keeps the brother-sister duo, Andrew and Ashely Graves, locked in their apartment on the verge of starvation. Overall Thoughts:
~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~
*Warning* These are my thoughts. Do not take them seriously. You can disagree all you want in the comments below. Enjoy!
First hearing about The Coffin of Andy and Leyley left a sour taste in my mouth. And it's probably for the same reason most people refuse to engage with the story being told by creator Nemlei. The notion on Twitter (or X, ew) dubbed this media as just the 'incest' game unfairly and failed to appreciate the themes being showcased by the siblings.
I believe that The Coffin of Andy and Leyley will grow in popularity by the release of the third episode. And this game will be a cult classic in no time, setting new records for storytelling in future indie projects.
I deep-dived into Nemlei's gameography, and dare I say, those other projects walked so Andrew and Leyley could run. There's only praise that should be afforded to Nemlei based on their improvements.
Watch or play through No-Good Noelle, which had come out three months prior, and see the differences. I also recommend Divilethion for those yearning for Nemlei's storytelling/art style.
But what those two games have in common, is that there's less to do for the players. While Andy and Leyley have the mechanics within its gameplay to be 10x more interactive for audiences. No wonder it had grown in popularity.
Now, to address the incest.
You do not have to like taboo topics. You do not have to engage with media that showcase it or be a part of a hate campaign because you don't like something. And as a society, we should bring awareness to media forms that encourage/promote dangerous ideology. Which in most cases does include incest.
However, art forms can get away with handling these taboo topics because they turn them into tools for driving a theme forward. And they aren't inherently romanticizing dangerous ideals. With that said it can be tricky for creators to handle these topics with care. You can hold the opinion that The Coffin of Andy and Leyley didn't utilize the concept of incest effectively in its narrative.
But, most people who've 'criticized' the game, dog pilled it because of the incest without understanding its importance to the themes. I get it, okay. It's disgusting that these siblings are down to bone.
Yet, as a writer, Andrew and Ashely are stellar characters with unique relationship dynamics. The theme of codependency is heightened by the pair's familial ties. Here's a little exercise:
Imagine Andrew and Ashely weren't siblings... They become slightly less interesting. Mainly due to the fact, they cannot uphold their OG purpose.
Episode two has two endings, Decay and Burial. Both hinges on the siblings making a choice to either let the past go or hold onto Andy and Leyley, their childhood nickname, now a source of resentment. Ashely idolizes the past while Andrew strives towards the future. On paper, they are foils of one another. These characters can work while not being related.
They could've been childhood friends if Nemlei wanted. But, then the plot would need to change.
Episode 2 wouldn't have worked to flesh out these characters equally because it was a murder scheme against their parents. Both Andrew and Ashely's interaction with their mother and how the events of the murder played out, heightened the themes of willingness to change or the lack of. And subsequentially, the codependency of the siblings.
At the end of the day, creators should be encouraged and pushed to create narratives through uncomfortable lenses. Sometimes a story can only stand out with that unique perspective. Nemlei's rap sheet as a game developer has never been taboo-free, however, it was this game that got them hated, bullied, and doxed.
Because of implied incest -from what I'm concerned. Aside from the dream stuff.
I'm not shocked, just disappointed that people took to the internet to be hateful about a game with merit.
I hope Nemlei takes this in stride and comes back to the platform with the release of episode 3. I am in love with The Coffin of Andy and Leyley. There are many unanswered questions. And I can only see a bittersweet ending for these characters.
Join me next time, when I give my thoughts on Andrew and Ashely Graves. I will deep dive into episodes 1 and 2 as well in the future.

Thoughts on RvB Restoration Finale
not really that long just my 2 cents
I wanna say I liked the movie because I did enjoy myself watching it, but honestly I'm very much gonna stick to the RvB17 open ended finale
Overall the movie was... ok? It wasn't unwatchably bad the way RvB Zero was but it also just made a lot of choices that I disagree with fundamentally both with the writing and the core themes of the series as a whole. I've had this take ever since RvB14 on the fanbase and the writers but this movie flat out says it:
The writers are fucking unable to let go of PFL and Chorus in a meaningful way.
For a series thats core message is about saying goodbye, they literally dont let that part of the show die. They are functionally unable to let go of the past peaks of the franchise and write something new. And I get it: RvB fundamentally cycles with its storytelling, but what was so refreshing to me about RvB14-17 was that it actually progressed itself Past those peaks of RvB10 and 11-13 (and honestly people REALLY dont appreciate the good in those later seasons). It felt like a natural (if wacky) progression, and it definitely wasnt perfect but it gave the extended cast more opportunities to shine in ways we didnt appreciate before
This movie just doesnt do that? Honestly the fact that they KILLED Sarge and Doc was so... disrespectful to me? Like not in the sense that it was as bad as how RvB Zero (fake) killed Tucker, but more like it felt like the writers killed them off because they were following a book titled "How To Write Story" and saw 'killing off characters is good writing'. Sarge got a dramatic send off that also didnt feel that impactful? And I did see it coming from the start but having Doc be Washs' guilt haunting him just left a bad taste in my mouth.
Its a really self contained story, a whole bunch of characters outside the main 3 reds and Caboose felt ooc, a good chunk of characters dont even show up (dude where was DONUT??? youre telling me he only has 5 seconds in Simmons' mind in a cheerleading costume?), it was composed of like 3-4 sets total, Carolina, Tex and 479er all just kind of Show Up to be badasses in the way The New Person would show up in an MCU movie...
Honestly watching this movie I kind of felt like it would have a twist ending. Like the credits would play and then itd zoom out to show the Reds and Blues post S17 in a movie theater watching this dramatic finale, because thats honestly what it felt like: The whole movie was a cheap facsimile of RvB as a whole. The fact that Trocadero wasn't allowed/signed on to make the music for this finale really does influence this movie, since they used a whole bunch of songs and osts that felt out of place (though I will admit Vale Deah softly playing as Grimmons said goodbye to each other did make me choke up a little)
Despite my negative review, I do still recommend watching it, since there was stuff I did like: Simmons in a leader role, Tex and the fun reveal during her fight with Tucker-Meta, Grif FINALLY getting to retire, Caboose as a whole was really well written, there IS good in this movie! And again it's not unwatchable bad, it just... kind of leaves a somber, sour taste in my mouth. This movie threw a whole bunch of stuff to the wall not to see what would stick but to break it all and leave for the insurance money. Just a "hey since we're sinking might as well make all these callbacks and break a bunch of stuff along the way."
Welp. Goodbye, RvB. At least this way I know that RT dies without riding your coattails any longer. And hey given that RvB technically has 3 endings (RvB17, Zero and RvB19) you can just take your pick on what you like best anyways. Quick edit no jutsu I forgor to mention there is the sequence at the beginning of the movie where it is implied RvB19 COULD also be one of the simulations in and of itself so. yeah you can in fact just take it as you will

So... my thoughts on the latest season of Sex Education is a little... jumbled, but overall I give it, like, a 7/10. Here's just some of the parts that I liked and disliked (rmb that this is just my interpretation of watching it and is no way conclusive against other interpretations)
Spoilers below!
Likes
I like that Cavendish is kind of a turn-tables situation where queer/left-wing-progressive ppl are at the top of the social food chain. It realistically shows how even in a space where discrimination of any kind is prohibited, there will still be complex issues that need to be discussed, e.g., toxic positivity, accessibity issues etc.
I also like Eric's whole storyline of finding himself with God. I'm not religious or anything, but I feel his storyline are going to empower a lot of religious queer people.
Adam is always a favourite. His actor just brings so much to the table and his performance is always outstanding. His closure scene with Eric was 💖💖
I love that the show confronts Otis' standing of privilige and how he's sidelined his friendship with Eric. I also like how the main relationship that got repaired was his and Eric's. It's nice to see platonic friendships take the center stage over romantic ones.
I love that Maeve and Otis show how an amicable breakup, still full of love, can be. It shows that if you love someone, you'll love them enough not to hold them back.
Maeve's funeral speech, and her scene conversing with Jean at the dining table made me weepppppp.
I also loved the different ways of grieving the show shows with Maeve and Sean. Sean was clearly in pain, and as the older one, he'd probably seen a bit more shit than Maeve. And he was valid for not wanting to do the funeral because of the pain his mother caused him. But also, Maeve's wish to honour her mother one last time was commendable as well. She remembers the good AND the bad of her mother, and that's just really big of her.
I loved the scene with her telling her professor that a teacher's word holds a lot of power.
I love Maeve's arc entirely basically.
Dislikes
O's entire character was... problematic. Like she did quite a number of problematic things that weren't addressed in the storyline at all. Like she presses her way into other's vulnerabilities without them giving her explicit consent. She looks at things that by all terms, should have been left strictly confidential (Jean's paper about Otis, for example) and then brings it up as if it were a completely okay thing to do. I really wanted to like her, like I see where she was coming from and she has really cool style and she's the only East Asian rep for the show. Just, as an East Asian person watching this (though I'm not from the UK), it just felt very othering that the ONLY East Asian rep in the show had to be played against the main character. I didn’t like her because she was the story's antagonist to the main character. If there were other East Asians in the series, I might have felt better about it but like, O being the only one, and also being a problematic character just leaves a sour taste in my mouth.
I really think Adam's storyline could have been integrated more into the Cavendish storyline. Coz right now his just feels like it's hanging on the side with no real connection to the main plot. I love his horses tho.
The show should really have stuck with its existing characters rather than broadening the scope to... Jo, for example. Anwar and Olivia could have been explored. Idk what went on behind the scenes but like, for a final season, shifting the main focus to the main cast and just a couple new ones should have been enough. I love that it's working to be diverse and inclusive, but jam-packing so many different experiences into one last season just felt... jarring for the season's ending.

I don't know why but I'm so obsessed recently with writing a fanfiction adaptation of Castlevania: Curse of Darkness and I feel like I want to give it a shot.
My vision is that it combines the story/characters from both the game and the tie-in manga (add in a bit of lore from Judgment in there) while being an unofficial follow-up to N!Castlevania, tying up all loose ends and character arcs from Season 4 and retconning Nocturne from existence (more on that later!).
Don't get me wrong, I liked the first two seasons of the original show but it all went downhill for the third season all the way to Nocturne (the latter which, as a hardcore fan of the series, left an awful taste in my mouth). My general perspective of the show also turned very sour as soon as I played the games and took a deeper look into its lore.
Outlining the story, it's going to include Hector as the main protagonist with a much deeper focus on his relationship with Rosalie, whom I reimagined as the twin sister of the witch Julia Laforeze.
Since Hector has become my favorite character in the game, it saddened me just how much he's been treated in the show, both within the storyline and outside of it (looking at you, Ellis!). So I wanted to give him a little bit of justice and redemption for this one.
Carrying on from Season 4, this would give me the opportunity to start his character arc from scratch and gradually transform from the person we ended the N! show with into the badass that headlined the original PS2 game.
Some characters who appeared in the game - like Trevor Belmont, Isaac, Saint Germain - won't be included due to how vastly different they've become compared to their game counterparts (for better or for worse).
Instead, their roles within the story are being filled in with new characters, mostly those that were left out from the games but should've been included in the original show to begin with (cough Grant cough).
Another aspect that I want to include in this story is more emphasis on the magical (albeit somewhat Lovecraftian-esque) side of this universe, which I wanted to explore through Julia and Rosalie as well as Hector's evolution as a Forgemaster.
I feel like making Castlevania too grounded ALA Game of Thrones came at the expense of the gothic/fantasy aesthetic the games were known for. The Infinite Corridor is only a gist of that, but it even felt underwhelming for how little it was utilized at all.
On the topic of loose ends, I feel like the show left so many more questions than answers when it ended. There were two characters whose ultimate fates are left in the wind, a plot hole which I found too egregious to ignore, combined with an ending so convoluted it nearly ruins the purpose of the games that follow it down the timeline.
In the process of fixing those issues while taking reference from the original games' lore for solutions, I ended up making an alternate timeline separate from the Netflix canon. This occurred when, in planning the finale of the story, I would have to address the consequences that the actions of the characters bring to the overall timeline.
Due to this, the timeline would remain relatively unchanged from the games' canon minus a few changes (such as Dracula's appearances, though his presence is more prominent). As a bonus, this would also mean completely ignoring/retconning the events of Nocturne (Rondo of Blood still happens albeit very differently, as that's a story I want to write about next).
All in all, I'm currently writing the first chapter now, sharing a few snippets at a time whilst doing so. I appreciate your time in reading this post.

Have you watched the Fallout show on Prime and if so, what did you think of it?
I watched it. For the most part, it was good - well-shot and well-executed. Walton Goggins stole the show as our favorite ghoul hitman. The Brotherhood was finally and decisively moved away from its Fallout 3 Wasteland Crusaders vibe. I would have liked more of the technological cult of the Brotherhood emphasized a little more, but what they did was fine. Overall, it felt like a Fallout product, albeit a Bethseda one.
And then, the final episode ended up turning into the Mass Effect 3 ending.
Overall, the plot was still the Bethseda "find the family member" plot which is getting quite stale by this point, but having Lucy go through it rather than us going through it ourselves makes the ludonarrative dissonance of Bethseda's "find your family member, but also feel free to dick around literally everywhere" entries into the Fallout series" does make the pill a lot easier to swallow. Her dad being a bad guy was a perfectly fine twist, albeit predictable. I'm not liking how many people seem to keep popping up from Pre-War times as being cryogenically frozen, it keeps losing the magic of the pre-War times with every new Pre-War person.
That being said, some worldbuilding changes I was not happy with. Nuking Shady Sands was something that was desirable for a lot of Fallout devs in terms of wanting to change the world back away from Fallout 2's big established cities to something grittier. But the timing of it throws New Vegas out the window. I believe the writers have said it was a mistake, and it goes back and forth from being an actual outside writer's mistake to a mistake that an in-universe actor made in recordkeeping. To me, it looks like a lack of care for the setting. If that was it, I'd actually be fine with the explanation, but there's a larger pattern at work here.
The change to making ghouls dependent on some magic juice just annoyed me. There was no real reason to change it, and now it opens up a whole of retroactive canonicity issues. It didn't really service the needs of the story except as an excuse plot for the Ghoul to sell Lucy to the organ harvesters in exchange for the magic juice. There were cleaner ways to get the plot to move in that direction without it.
The final episode plot revelations though, about how the US actually won the Resource Wars with limitless power and decided to nuke the world anyway because of the nefarious oligarch business council, was an incredibly stupid plot beat, enough that the series left a sour taste in my mouth. The Resource Wars meant a whole lot to the feel of Fallout, and satirized the jingoist nature of the 1950's Cold War. And what's better is that the entire reason, that they need to ensure a return on investment, makes no sense. The Resource Wars already show us that there's a premium on resources, and the technology level of the Pre-War world is such that having enough power could alleviate all sorts of resource shortages. And it's all under Vault-Tec's control, so there's *no* need to actually get the nukes to start flying from Vault-Tec's perspective. Vault-Tec desires nothing more than money, so it destroys the world to make...a whole lot less money.
That's beyond stupid, and there were so many ways to make it actually work. China attacking the US with nukes in this scenario (which was the prior canon) actually makes sense with this wrinkle - because China has lost and it would rather destroy the world than lose the war. That's well-keeping in line with the themes of Fallout. Even having the US Government find out and attack via Poseidon Energy (a conspicuous absence from the Evil Oligarch Council given the importance of Poseidon to the Enclave). But no, they went with lazy, stupid writing, getting rid of the critique of the warmongering that nearly ran the world to ruin in the 1950's and 1960's for an ineffective satire of the unchecked power of corporations.
That's one of the things that bothers me most in worldbuilding is when lore events are changed, especially for incredibly stupid reasons. It kills the immersion of any series, especially one so dependent on atmosphere and with so much lore as Fallout. It was disappointing to see a series with such potential just fumble the ball in the final minute.
Thanks for the question, George.

rough ttpd review because i need to get it out.
people who love this album, don't read it.
if news came out that taylor's ex thought of another woman in bed while dating taylor... if the ex told her taylor to get over her depression quicker so that they can get married and have a happy-ever-after... if the ex rebounded to a very problematic person and defended them from everyone...
yeah that ex would be dragged into the dirtiest pits of hell by swifties. but now that it's taylor who did all that and admitted it openly?
oh then she was just going a tough time :( oh she's just being raw and vulnerable about her messiest decisions because she trusts us! oh she was in a such a bad space because her ex with mental illness was exhibiting signs of mentall illness around her :(( it really took a toll on her, she was trapped trying to fix him :(( she's lost her youth to that man!! she's sharing her regrets with us omg she's so brave!!
Meet taylor, always the victim, always the oppressed, always the wronged, and calls herself a monster in the most passive aggressive way I've heard in a song. (I've rhymed here more than 60% of the album)
I cannot, with a clear conscience, listen to this album and like it. Not to mention the downgraded lyrics and repetitive basic production which covers at least 80% of the album. Most songs feel like a diary entry she put into whatever tune she got in a second.
Some songs here and there yeah I really do love them and want them on repeat, but majorly? I can't deal with this album. This album makes me feel guilty as sin.
With the marketing of this album, I genuinely expected some dark academia folklore type vibes and lyrics. Something like 'carolina' and yes, 'the albatross' and 'so long london'. But overall the marketing was WAYYY off, specially how taylor made everyone believe for a YEAR that Joe was the one who cheated on her. Now that the album is out we know Joe was just struggling mentally, taylor got bored and went to the nearest 'spark'. She was the one who definitely emotionally cheated first, no evidence to say she actually cheated but yeah.
The entire marketing being about bashing Joe and high-class lyrics and dark academia vibes falls FLAT on its face. The album is mostly about her shitty rebound and how she suffers through all of it. It's extremely one-sided and biased ofcourse but tone deaf too, specially with that 'without all the racists' line. The line feels like she's trying to save face after defending Matty throughout the album.
The album just leaves a sour taste in my mouth and on my moral compass. The album just proves how taylor owns the double standards in her favor because of the massive fan-base she's accumulated.
Tldr; this album is for people who are ready to defend taylor because she's their icon. its not for swifties/people who can be critical of taylor too.

I have a question for all the (checks notes) like 2, maybe 3 people who look at my Higurashi posting: does anyone else kinda hate the phone scene from Minagoroshi?? (the one where Satoko finally admits to the child care office that she's being abused)
Minagoroshi is one of, if not my favorite arcs in the series despite its ambling pacing, but it always drove me kind of insane is how the phone call scene is portrayed both in-universe and out as a kind of triumph. It does work exceptionally well as a filtering of the arc and overall series' message through Rika's mindset at that point in the story (and god knows she has some shit to work through), but it always leaves a sour taste in my mouth with just how much victim-blaming is happening throughout and I'm curious if this is a me issue or a shared sentiment
There is SO much of an onus put on how Satoko responds to the abuse and shaming her for her "weakness". While there is the added context of Keiichi and Rika trying to pressure Satoko into doing something despite her fear, the fact that they outright say this is a way to "atone for your crime" (of not reacting to abuse "correctly") is absolutely crazy to me, especially because this narrative is repeated uncritically by so many characters throughout the story, including adult characters like Irie who should REALLY know better
It's not even that I dislike the overall concept of the phone scene and what it means for Satoko and her relationships with other characters, but something about how victim-blaming is used as the motivator and catalyst for this change really rubs me the wrong way. What makes this especially frustrating is how so many phrases from the phone conversation are repeated almost word-for-word from Shion's monologue from the 1982 classroom scene. If your only way to motivate someone is by repeating the words of the girl who told a third grader that everyone would be happier if she killed herself, I think there might be a little bit of rephrasing in order
The entire reason they're stuck in this situation to begin with is because Satoko won't admit to the abuse because she thinks she's a burden and needs to be strong to make up for relying on her brother-- complexes she likely gained from what Shion told her in 1982. They're using the same narrative that got them into this mess to get them out of it, and all of it serves to reiterate that Satoko has been doing something wrong for the way she responds to abuse. This isn't even getting into the obvious danger Satoko puts herself in during the phone call by doing what they said (that could be a post all its own)
Maybe I'm just belaboring the point, but there's something that leaves such a sour taste in my mouth about that scene in particular and how it's treated as such a victory within the narrative as a whole. Am I the only one who feels like this? I feel like there has to be a way that the overarching message can stay without victim-blaming the 11 year old

man i’m trying really hard to be happy about opm but the way they did tatsumaki a few chapters ago left a sour taste in my mouth that i can’t seem to get rid of. i cannot believe what they did to her design i STILL feel betrayed it’s ridiculous
i’ve already bitched about this on twitter a while back but i’ve been feeling upset about it the past couple days so i’m gonna complain again.
pictures of the old way she was drawn vs the new way plus my rambling dialogue on the way fanservice changed in opm under the cut
Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media
(old tatsu on the left new on the right)
she looks more like a kid now and yet is simultaneously more sexualized at the same time. it is STRANGE i don’t like it
i think when i read these chapters i suffered the whole time but was in denial about it like “ITS NOT THAT BAD…” until i saw pic #2 and finally said “it is… it really is that bad.”
i’m not even someone who’s super annoyed by fanservice (i mean obviously i’m an opm fan). and i can usually ignore it easily…
as long as it doesn’t fall into 3 categories
1. involves sexual assault/it’s disrespectful
2. the fanservice is just the boring male protag getting boobs shoved in his face
3. sacrifices having a good design for the sake of being “sexy”
the crimes against #3 are straight up egregious.
tatsumaki used to have an extremely solid design. her dress had a lot of emphasis on the iconic tendrils and it complimented her well. her hair was very curly which matched the tornado theme and was an overall joy to look at. her eyes were sharp and cold which also felt iconic for her character and it reflected the harshness of her personality. her freaky eyes were always one of my favorite parts of her design.
In the new design, her dress has been shrunk to try to reveal as much as possible. it doesn’t match the flow of the legs like the old way used to and just feels awkward. the tendrils are translucent too which again. messes with the dress. her hair isn’t as curly anymore it lacks the DRAMA the old hair has. the eyes are too soft now, and it doesn’t feel intentional. i can already hear someone going “oh well the eyes are like that to show she’s enjoying herself.” except the eyes haven’t been changed slightly, they’re changed completely. they look exactly like the eyes of any other character.
I’m giving proportions a whole section to itself lol. they’ve widened her hips, somehow shrunk her already small torso even MORE, and gave her a bobble head, and more emphasis on boobs. looking at her, especially in pic 2, it feels like you just gave a hentai artist a pen and told them to draw tatsu. there’s zero regard for her original design and proportions it’s just skimpy clothes slapped onto an unrecognizable face and body. i mentioned this earlier but they babyifyed her face and made her act more “childish” than she already kind of did while sexualizing her more it’s extremely uncomfortable.
#1… the disrespect…
sexual assault isn’t really in opm for fanservice… yet… (i do not trust murata to not draw some non consensual boob groping at this point) but the disrespect, the objectification and complete lack of regard for the characters is palpable
i don’t read one punch man for the fan service and i never have. the reason why i’ve gotten this far without getting pissed off is that i felt like the fanservice, while excessive, wasn’t totally disrespectful. it felt like the characters were like that, not 100% for the audience, but because they were comfortable with it too. i don’t know how to describe it but nothing about tatsu’s design now says “i dressed myself like this, i feel good, i’m going outside now”
she feels less like a character and more like an object to be placed in situations she wouldn’t be comfortable with and react in ways she wouldn’t typically react, stripping her of her personality to be more “ideal” exclusively with the audience in mind and robbing her of what made her unique in the process.
#2 ehhhh not as applicable
(#2 mentioned because i already wrote about 1 and 3 so leaving it out is awkward.)
saitama truly does not give a fuck lol. he doesn’t even feel like a middleman for the audience he’s just there. the fanservice feels more viewer based than self insert/projection based. that’s the only box opm isn’t currently ticking. saitama hasn’t had his personality revoked for the sake of the audience (YET. again i trust no one anymore)
final thoughts
every time i see the recent chapters and the art style just i think about her and just feel this sadness and sense of betrayal. i don’t think i would’ve had a problem with the psychic sisters arc if the tone and execution were more like the webcomic (rare words from me lol. i love the webcomic but celebrate the manga for its differences) and if tatsumaki was still drawn like an adult. I MISS HERRRR
i even get a little upset seeing fubuki now too. i don’t know if i would’ve if it weren’t for how tatsumaki has been demolished but i look at her and see how she’s posed and how her dress has somehow gotten tighter and feel sad none the less.
anyways i could continue but i actually need to move on with my day and i don’t feel like drafting this to expand on later since it’s just a rant lol. sorry for any grammar or spelling errors i wrote this at 7am after staying up the night before working on a quiz with heavy writing that i didn’t realize would take SIX HOURS. thanks for reading. hope i’m not alone here.

A Quiet Place: Day One (2024) review
Tumblr media
Well, well, well, guess Eddie Munson ain’t a one trick pony after all.
Plot: When New York City comes under attack from an alien invasion, a woman and other survivors try to find a way to safety. They soon learn that they must remain absolutely silent as the mysterious creatures are drawn to the slightest sound.
I was fairly surprised when I heard a few years back that the director of the indie emotional drainer Pig (that was made on a $3 million budget) was picked to take on the $70 million prequel to the major A Quiet Place franchise, and one that was set right in the Big Apple itself, New York City. And I’m not sure how much you know about NYC - but it’s huge! With lots of people. Add to that the alien invasion aspect, one can expect something very different to Pig, with more so in the lines of Cloverfield. However, we shouldn’t have questioned Michael Sarnoski after all, as even though the first 10 minutes start with a bang, most of the movie (aside from some big set pieces) ends up still prioritising the human element of it all. There is something oddly sincere and sweet about Sarnoski centering a studio vehicle movie on a cancer patient who wants nothing more than to get a slice of pizza. It in some ways simplifies humanity to its most basic and innocent instincts, and where this movie succeeds the most is when that humanity is allowed to shine through and shine bright.
Narrative wise, aside from the no-talking and make-no-sound gimmick this is a very by-the-numbers alien attack story, and part of me does wish that the film took more opportunity from its Day One title. I was expecting to see the origins of how people realised that these freaky clicking crab creatures only attacked things based on sound, however the main character played by Lupita Nyong’o gets knocked out during the first attack and when she wakes up everyone seems to already be fully in the know that sound is illegal from now on under threat of death. Sort of defeated the purpose of needing a prequel to A Quiet Place. And I don’t know, I also kind of wanted to see more people get constantly gruesomely f-ed up and ripped apart seeing as this movie is released in peak summer blockbuster season. Again, I’m thinking of Cloverfield again. And maybe I still haven’t recovered from the pointless silly yet endlessly entertaining titan monster brawl in Godzilla x Kong: The New Empire. Gosh that movie was so stupid, yet I had a blast. Sometimes you just need that ridiculous big budget beat-them-up, and summer is when you need that the most. Again though, not dissing A Quiet Place: Day One - it’s actually a very interesting approach to the alien invasion genre; it simply took me off guard a little with my expectations.
Lupita Nyong’o and Joseph Quinn are truly fantastic in this film. They deliver so much emotion and nuisance through their expressions, with many chunks of the film seeing them communicate simply through glances and nods. Nyong’o especially does well carrying the heavyweight nature of her character suffering from cancer, yet Quinn really showcases his puppy dog eyes, and also makes the audience feel really sorry for him every time his character had another panic attack. Then there is the cat. Look, the cat is cute and also has way more screen-time than I believe it should have, but overall I enjoyed the cat. It may be the most unrealistic cat ever in that it makes absolutely no sound. In real life that cat would have caused our heroes’ demise at least 500 times. But no, I got nothing against the cat, it served its purpose.
Genuinely I was surprised by A Quiet Place: Day One, as even though I am a fan of John Krasinski’s original entry, A Quiet Place: Part 2 left a sour taste in my mouth, however here I genuinely dug the allegory of one’s own fleeting mortality, and discovering what it means to live again…… under the backdrop of an alien invasion, cause you know, what better time to have an existential epiphany, right??
Overall score: 7/10

Not to spoile the final MHA chapter, but it actually does makw me apreciate the ending of SE's manga lol
(I still have another question I have been slow at answering about My Hero Academia, and I will get to answering it soon--and now that the manga is reaching its final chapter Sunday, I will post that answer after the final chapter is released.)
I did read the spoilers online.
I do not like this ending, but as I say below, it is an ending that does match the overall philosophy this manga has had since Chapter 1. And even as I dislike this ending, I do appreciate and even like or love some of the details, whether stuff from the earliest chapters that get payoff, long-term setup-and-payoff by Horikoshi (that one scene right before the PLF War finally gets payoff in this chapter), parallels between the very first chapter and this final chapter.
But I don't like how abrupt and fast certain details are. I can appreciate the final chapter showing the actual work done to make the world a better place; I despise how the final chapter skips over significant steps in the work to be done to make the world a better place to just show, "And the characters managed to succeed at their goals!" No--I am here to see the struggle to make that better world, I don't want to just skip to, "And now things are better!" I know this is a bizarre comparison, but even Wakko's Wish made sure to hold your hand and take you through how things got better for the characters. This ending is just, "And now so-and-so is super famous!" No--show me how they got to be famous, show me how they made that accomplishment, created that program, improved the world--don't tell me, give me that story.
I'm not sure how I feel about Izuku's ending. It answers a long-term problem that has been there since Chapter 1, and I don't think this solution actually addresses the underlying problem that has been there since Chapter 1, especially as it replaces one form of inequality with another.
I don't like the refusal to acknowledge the work certain characters did, how their contributions are overshadowed, that we don't get to see how certain characters got to be so well loved and famous--again, show us the work done, don't just skip to, "And now things are better!" I don't appreciate how undervalued Izuku seems.
And a lot of my disappointment with this ending and this manga overall is just my own fault: I have had a decade to get to work with a friend on My Hero Academia fics and headcanon that it is difficult for me to accept this ending when my own headcanon is what I prefer. (Don't even get me started on how much I prefer the ships my friend and I have compared to the lackluster ships this manga and its final chapter go with or imply or just edge close to then whiff and don't commit to.) This chapter is going to please a lot of people; it's not going to please other people.
Also, the confirmed deaths leave a sour taste in my mouth. Like where Izuku ends up, that fits what is Horikoshi's philosophy, but, first, I am disliking his philosophy more and more, and second, that doesn't change that the logic ("This character totally can survive this fatal injury, but this character doesn't") fails at being believable, whether in terms of worldbuilding or philosophical meaning. As a certain someone on Tumblr has done a really good job pointing out, the choices to kill off certain characters undermines a lot of the messaging, and it doesn't help that it produces "bury your gays," "lost Lenore," "stuffed in the fridge" tropes that use the deaths of LGBTQ+ and girl and women characters to further the character progression of mostly cishet or cishet-coded or boy or men characters.
I also don't like which deaths are confirmed or strongly hinted at, with zero closure for certain characters and a refusal to permit page space to emphasize, "This character is dead, this is the last pin we are putting on who they were, what they meant to these characters." The same goes for how this manga ignored what Midnight's death meant to Aizawa and Mic, but if I start talking about that, then I'd have to talk about MHA Vigilantes as well and how that series had a far worse ending than My Hero Academia, and this post is already long enough.
All of that being said: this ending is better than that of Soul Eater. (It doesn't help that both Soul Eater and MHA ended their manga run right around my birthday, so, yay, another disappointing manga ending to celebrate another revolution around the sun--FML.) And it's a hell of a way better than Fire Force. Soul Eater ended with the worst jokes because Ohkubo cannot commit to a serious moment without undercutting it with the worst kind of joke: it's not even that he allows some needed levity with a joke that is appropriate for the situation and actually helps reinforce the point he was making, he literally went from, "My friend has had a life of trauma and now remains with that trauma for eternity to protect others," to, "LOL boobs and groping girls." Fire Force shat all over the meaning of Soul Eater, undermining the point of the latter and screwing over the potential message of the former. But My Hero Academia at least ended with a reinforcement of some of its key principles: a hero can appear where you don't expect it, don't judge a book by its cover, teamwork is needed rather than only individualism, discrimination sucks and should be shunned and shamed, and the world is not fair but that doesn't mean we can afford to not make it more fair and equitable so don't give up, improvise to do what you can to help others, and keep moving forward.
...Also, I really do not like the designs on the last page. My complaint here is similar to how I complain about the designs of Bungo Stray Dogs when showing a change in ages for characters: the designs on the last pages of My Hero Academia just look off-model, not like the characters are older. I have a major hang-up about that detail, and I'll talk about it after Sunday, but I really do not like when illustrators don't know how to draw their own characters.
(Sidebar: This is not only about Horikoshi: I'm also glaring at Ohkubo and those new art museums pieces of the Soul Eater characters. If those are supposed to be older Maka et al, then I don't know what is wrong with Ohkubo's stylistic preferences because he just refuses to make anything look consistent. I know Ohkubo's art style has changed a lot over the years--but pick a style and stick with it: between the manga and the anime and now these new art pieces, Maka has had at least eight [insert Death the Kid reference] designs--early manga, the first anime, the Baba Yaga Arc, the final arc, the NOT manga, the NOT anime, the Fire Force-era Twitter art, and now these museum pieces. And none of them look enough alike to work as a progression in his art style.)
Also, Mineta never paid for his crimes--horrible ending to this manga.

Okay, now that the show is done and dusted and I've slept on the finale, here's my final take on Ted Lasso:
Season 1: Truly S Tier
A perfect season of television. One of the few shows I'd recommend to literally any person on the planet. It also can stand on its own as a self contained unit without the rest of the series.
Season 2: A+
It doesn't stand on its own as a perfect season the way s1 does, but it's still one of the best seasons of television you can watch. They were really building to something special with s3.
Season 3: C
There were certainly good moments, but a lot of those good moments rely on the love I already had for all of the characters coming with me from watching the first two seasons. It's technically still better than many other shows available to watch. Like, it's not Blue Bloods or Young Sheldon or something. But the drop in quality from the literal perfection of the first two seasons is all the more palpable and disappointing because of how good it could have been. And it's never fun when a great show's final season leaves a sour taste in your mouth.
Overall? I'd still recommend the show. Either watch just the first season and enjoy the sublime loveliness of it in a vacuum or go in knowing that the last season doesn't pay off what the first two seasons were setting up and probably be less disappointed than someone like me who was watching from the very beginning. But I don't think the disappointing last season tanks the merit of the series as a whole experience. I still love all the characters so deeply and got so much joy from most of it.

Hey I don't wanna be rude or anything but I'm just curious why you dislike tfp Starscream so much
I'm sorry this took so long to respond aaaaaaa tumblr ate the notification but anyway,
There's a lot of personal reasons as to why I dislike tfp Starscream. Ill try and make it simple since I dont wanna bore people with my own problems bfndjs
He basically reminds me of my abuser and the god awful relationship I had with her, ig this is mostly due to the interpretation of the fandom where he can "do no wrong" because he's suffered oh so much. It took me years to finally cut ties with her and it mostly ended with her gaslighting me into believing I was the terrible person all along even tho she isolated me from friends and made me feel like my world had to revolve around her. Like a dog with a noose around its neck.
He also reminds me of a guy that basically raped me.
Another reason why I don't like him is the god awful interactions ive had with SOME Starscream fans/stans. The way I was send death threats in my ask box and just overall people telling me how much of a "terrible person" for liking another character and not bending down and kissing their "sweet boy"'s ass. I am AWARE that NOT ALL Starscream fans and stans aren't like this but those interactions still left a very sour taste in my mouth.
Im sorry if this all sounds nonsensical hfjdjs im sorry again for the delay in response

Thank the GODS this episode was better!!! (episode 7 spoilers)
I'm not gonna lie episode 6 left a very sour taste in my mouth but this episode washed it away! Granted there were still some things that I didn't like (them knowing Procrustes but not knowing Cerberus was very weird and no fun Charon bit but that's okay) but the rest was amazing!!! I really love Sally Jackson in this episode with her being a more human character than her book counterpart (still love the book sally more tho ngl) and the show showing that having to try and protect Percy and not being able to fully raise him herself was heartbreaking (also fuck those school guys for being upset he drew a Pegasus like wtf!) and I really like her talk with Poseidon at the end. I'm very glad they kept Grover nearly being dragged into the pit (although I love the idea someone posited here where instead of the pearl getting swallowed by Cerberus it fell out of Grover pocket when dragged into Tartarus) and Percy kinda having a silent meltdown trying to figure out what was going on once hades said he didn't want the bolt. I'm also interested what Annabeth's regret is going to be (maybe it's leaving her dad?)Genuinely the two things that saved this episode for me were the two things they *needed* to get right: Hades and Cerberus. For starters, OMG CERBERUS IS SUCH A CUTIE!!!!!! Like oh my gods I just wanna snuggle into him and sleep all day like that one cat that curls up on the dog in that one looney toon cartoon (specifically feed the kitty genuinely check it out its so cute). AND HADES WAS FUCKING PERFECT!!! I know he's not like the book one kinda but something about the energy and his presence was just perfect for hades. I also like that they kept Hades not wanting the bolt (until he does which i don't think is in the book but makes sense and him asking Percy to ask him for sanctuary I just genuinely loved for some reason) and Percy being forced to leave his mom with hades. I can't wait to see the fight with Ares because I know that is going to be epic. Overall A pretty strong episode that was carried by sally, Percy, and hades. (ps. is it just me or was Poseidon kinda hot?)

My Top 5 Worst Shows of 2022
Tumblr media
What's going on everyone? It's Dan here and were nearing the end of 2022 so much like every other degenerate online, I'll be giving my Top 5 lists. Starting off the list, I'll be giving My Top 5 worst shows of 2022 list!
Keep in mind, this is all subjective and just my opinion on what I've seen this year. There will be shows on this list you agree or disagree with and that's okay! are we clear on that? good. Let's begin.
Tumblr media
Number 5 is going to the limited Netflix series, DAHMER. (6/10)
Now right off the bat, I'm sure I'll catch major flack for putting a show like DAHMER on this list because it was actually quite popular for a fat minute. My real gripe with this show is because it's a piece of entertainment based around a real killer. I don't have problems with adaptations based on true events or people, but when it comes to basing them off tragedies or killers, I get real mixed on the subject. I feel as long as its done tastefully then it's fine, but with Dahmer it feels like the series glorifies him to an unhealthy degree and makes Jeffery Dahmer (at least in the show) likeable. It's similar to when Zac Efron portrayed Ted Bundy a couple years back and people found Bundy to be a charismatic and likeable guy despite that he was a real monster much like Dahmer. Now you can argue this is thanks for Evan Peters portrayal which I'll admit is pretty well done, but even so, it feels like the show and its story is making light of the events that took place especially when they exaggerate or alter details for the sake of the story. The show itself is alright, like I said Peters did a great job but the show itself is....meh. The show overall I'd give it a 6/10, but the events and person it was based off of leaves a bit of a sour taste in my mouth and feels that it altered more than it should have for the sake of entertainment.
Tumblr media
Number 4 is going to another limited series that's on Disney Plus, Kenobi (5.5/10)
This show I had high hopes for and something everyone has been waiting for, An Obi-Wan Kenobi movie or series on his exile on Tattooine watching over a young Luke, but it turned out to be a real disappointment. Now I already reviewed the show back in the summer and gave it a 5.5/10 so if you want a full in-depth on why I dislike it go check that out. To summarize what I initially said, The show is basically pointless filler in my eyes. It doesn't really add anything to the story of Star Wars and we got glorified fighting scenes between Kenobi and Darth Vader which I felt wasn't necessary, they didn't need to meet. Another reason was the characters were all weak, the main bad guy or gal in this case was just poorly written and felt like her actress was just being over the top. Plus the Inquisitor was thought to be killed off so easily and this caused outrage in the fandom since he's a big player in Star Wars: Rebels. The shows saving grace was when they brought in the writer from WALL.E (I'm serious) for the last two episodes and it managed to salvage the series and actually make it entertaining, make the characters sympathetic and bringing the Inquisitor back to life. The show was just a huge mess, even worse than Book of Boba Fett. It is a real shame because I wanted to like the show, it had it's moments where there was something that could have been great if it was handled better. Unfortunately this is what we ended up with and it was a real disappointment.
Tumblr media
Number 3 has to go to the Disney Plus original series, She-Hulk (5/10)
Now this is a show I knew was gonna be met with heavy dislike and major debate. I had no faith in this show and when I watched a few episodes...it further reinforced those feelings. To be fair, the She-hulk show concept could work well but the way it was executed here was just awful. It's no secret that the MCU has treated the Hulk like a complete side character throughout most the MCU's run in cinema and I find that to be a serious injustice since the Hulk is my favorite Marvel character (yes even more than Spider-Man though he is a close second). I honestly hate how they've treated him in every phase after the original Avengers movie and I thought with the She-Hulk series they'd at least give him some kind of reparation for it as this wise mentor since he's professor Hulk now. But NOPE! Jennifer just complains, telling him how she's gone through far worse than him and talks down on him writing off his struggles as nothing. That's what initially made her so unlikeable in the first place, she has this sense of entitlement and just because she's a woman it means her problems are always worse than Bruce's issues. Keep in mind Bruce has struggled with a dual personality he was unable to control for the longest time and even attempted suicide at one point where as Jennifer has mentally more control than he did so it just makes her character unlikeable. In the comics and other shows she's portrayed to be a real charmer and someone who is easy going but in this show, she's entitled, mean-spirited and shameless (in a bad way). I know this is meant to appeal to a more adult demographic since there's sex (Disney's closest thing to that), Twerking, and profanity. All of those could work for a She-Hulk show, but the writing and lackluster CGI/VFX (she literally looks like that one scene in Click where Adam Sandler's character makes himself look like the hulk) is what truly holds it back. It has it's moments with neat Easter eggs and Cameo's like Abomination from the 2008 Incredible Hulk movie, but it's not enough to save the show and all that I've said makes it a chore to watch than entertainment.
Tumblr media
Number 2 goes to the infamous Halo TV show on Paramount Plus. (4.5/10)
My god I don't even know where to begin with this one....For starters one of the producers Steven Kane would go on saying that they didn't play or look at the games the show was based off of. Secondly, They ruined Master Chiefs character by having him remove his helmet in the first episode which is something he would have never done in the games, third it's just space drama when there's no covenant fighting, I could go on and on. I already review this show so if you wanna see that go ahead but yeah this show was just doomed to fail. I don't understand why they bother making adaptations of beloved video game franchises and give it to people who seem to hate video games and make it so generic and almost nowhere near what its based off of. Yeah they said that this is non-canon, but that's still no excuse to make a Halo Show and make it this terribly. Companies always do this where they make a generic show and slap a beloved IP just so people will watch it. They did this as well with the resident evil show on Netflix (which I've seen clips of and will not watch it ever). It's a generic zombie show and they slap the Resident Evil name on it just so it could generate some views. We've seen with things like Arcane, The Witcher, Cyberpunk, Cuphead, and Sonic that prove you can adapt video games into a great show or movie as long as you have the right team behind it and stay loyal to the source material while also making it your own. It's been proven yet there are still shows like Halo that refuse to give any effort into it or hand it off to the right team. The Halo show was hard to watch, the only episodes I genuinely liked were the first and last episodes because they were action packed battles between the Spartans and the Covenant, everything in between was just space drama. Unfortunately, the shows budget was limited so they couldn't give us a lot of the covenant, that's why their appearances were limited. Also I hate Kwan Ha (not her actress) she is the worst character in this god forsaken show and is baby sat by Soren who I felt was the best character in the show. I initially gave this show a 4.5/10 but I honestly regret that score now I felt it should have been far lower.
And now for the number 1 spot! The Worst Show of 2022 goes to....
Tumblr media
Number 1 goes to Fairly OddParents: Fairly Odder on Paramount Plus (1/10)
I've mentioned what has held back a lot of the shows on this list, whether it be bad writing, bad acting, low budget, horrible VFX and CGI, decent concept but poor execution, poor adaptation of a beloved property and even controversy because of real people. I've mentioned how all these shows have one, maybe two of these qualities...well this show has ALL OF THAT!
I know I gave my review of this show back in April, but I don't think I fully expressed all my reasons so I'll try to get it all out in this. First off, the concept of this show is just awful. This live action and animation hybrid idea can work if done with proper care but this show half hazardly puts it together with the smallest budget known to man like literal peanuts flicked at the production. The OG Fairly OddParents was done completely in animation which is far better because you're not limited thanks to animation being a far more flexible medium. The animation is so cheaply done and clunky like I've seen better flash animations from 2005 than what I'm seeing here in 2022 how is that even possible!? The characters are all weak like I do not like any of the main cast aside from Cosmo, Wanda, Jorgen, and Mr. Crocker only because they got the OG voice actors back for their roles and even Mr. Crocker's Voice actor actually got to play him both in live action and animated which I think was awesome but that's about the only positive thing I can say. The settings are so repetitive and uncreative, they literally use the same settings and just redecorate them slightly to be somewhat different. The writing is just poorly done and the acting is all phoned in like good god no one was having a good time. The VFX and CGI are done poorly due to the low budget like this is stuff I can make with a green screen, photo shop and my art tablet. But the worst part about this show is the man behind it, Butch Hartman. He was the creator of Fairly OddParents and was one of the best animators in the industry back in the 2000's and even early 2010's. He was truly one of the best but along the way he got greedy and arrogant. He had that Oaxis Kickstarter, he's been accused of plagiarizing art and commissioning it, and he's just become a real unhinged Jerk if I'm gonna be honest. He agreed to bring back the fairies and he did a shit job at it. It's clear he had no real passion or drive to make this show successful...it's just a shameless cash grab and a phoned in check for himself. It's a real fall from grace story here. Normally a series like the Powerpuff Girls or MLP are ruined because the networks take it upon themselves to squeeze every dime out of the existing property when the original creator departs from the show. Here, Butch comes back but just doesn't care about his IP enough to make it good, he only cares about money and this show has nothing to offer. This show is just a hollow shell of its former self and that's why I feel Fairly OddParents: Fairly Odder is the worst show to come out in 2022 and possibly of all time.
