“Here, let mommy get you dressed.” She says as she makes her way to the closet. she pulls out a cute onesie, a plain skirt, some tights, and a cute cardigan before helping you change.

You looked at your new outfit in the mirror and felt much better, it was more seamless and cute than the one you had originally picked out.

You were about to thank her when she grabbed your hand gently and led you from the room, a giggle and smile on her face as she was determined to have an amazing day with her new baby.

Pre-Hero Work Years

Okay, so I def think he went to UA 

I imagine things were pretty similar to canon up until around Shouto's birth, and around then Endeavor has a big work incident that makes it so he can't be a pro in the same capacity anymore

and it forces him into therapy and and the family actually works on stuff and slowly starts to heal

but Touya still gets injured from his quirk, but he manages to hide it pretty well from his parents and siblings, because he still wants to go to UA and be a pro so badly

and when he does get in he loves it so much, it's everything he dreamed it would be, he's making some friends, and his parents and siblings are so proud of him

but then the first sports festival rolls around, and it awakens that old feeling of needing to prove himself as worthy of everything he has

he gets to the semi finals when he ends up pushing himself too far and he ends up getting really, really hurt

which leads to his family and teachers realizing how much pain he's been hiding for so long

but it takes tiny Shouto, only seven years old, clutching Touya's hand while Touya is still half asleep due to the drugs and injury, telling his big brother how much he loves him and that he please has to stop hurting himself because they need to keep watching cartoons together and someone has to tell Shouto stories before he goes to bed, and quite frankly that needs to be Touya because nobody does the voices as good as him, and nobody else in their house makes the cereal as good as him, and Shouto hasn't told anyone but he thinks math is hard and he needs Touya to help him so that he too can get into UA and they can be heroes together

when Touya starts healing properly, he gets sent to Power Loader to get some special support items to help him out, as gets assigned a mandatory meeting with Recovery Girl every week so she can make sure he's staying healthy and doesn't hurt himself again

Early Pro Years

Touya debutes right out of UA, and during his first year as a Pro, he already breaks top 20, which is pretty damn rare

not unlike his father, much of his success is due to his outstanding numbers

but unlike his father, he is also quite popular with the public

in a "he's a little bit of a shit, but in a fun and likable way" - way

he's always very nice to civilians and fans etc

but he loves to fuck around and find out

he is the paparazzis biggest nightmare, always doing the most to confuse them

kids absolutely love him, partly because he's genuinely good with them, and partly because he is a fun and dynamic and looks really cool while fighting

he uses special boots and gloves that helps him control the fire from his body without hurting him to fly around, like rocket shoes and little hand jetpacks lol

when Touya has been around the Pro scene for about a year, this new guy shows up out of nowhere

his hero name is Hawks, and nobody seems to know where he came from or who he really is, and Touya is intrigued right away

especially when the guy skyrockets up the charts like nothing he's ever seen before

Touya himself didn't really care about the hero ranks or popularity polls, he just wanted to be a good hero, and he feels plenty appreciated by the public as it is

but it does intrigue him to see someone come out of nowhere and take off like that

he decides to try to get to know the guy a little, as they seem to have a similar personalities

Touya is very surprised however, when he runs into the winged man at a hero gala and realizes he's actually quite awkward and shy, proving that he's not as trained in personal relationships as he is in public relations

and while Touya started out hanging around the other young hero out of curiosity, he quickly finds himself more interested in Keigo, the person, than Hawks the hero

the way he can go from confidently saving hundreds of civilians with a charming smile and give interviews to the whole country like it's nothing, to turn into an awkwardly funny, blushing mess of a 19 year old guy in a matter of minutes truly makes Touya's heart turn into mush

okay I'm like not even a serious stan I just think Taylor is fun but I'm losing my mind at all the tweets/posts being like "actually I'd rather politicians speak up than popstars" cause like didn't this woman in her own words say she wanted to speak up more?? Yeah I have very complicated feelings about this subject. I think before the Miss Americana documentary it would've been fair to say that she never signed up to be an activist and therefore it shouldn't be expected of her to speak up about anything. At the time of Miss Americana, the YNTCD video, and the sexual assault case, it felt to me like she genuinely wanted to use her wide-reaching voice to make a difference on issues that mattered to her. I wasn't expecting her to become a full on activist, but while people could always say that she should do more, I think during this era it did seem like her heart was in the right place about it. However, her choosing to date Matty Healy, despite him being a bigot, feels so out of touch with the progressive image that she cultivated. This has kind of brought my attention to the fact that a lot of those statements made during that documentary may well have been performative, which is pretty disappointing. We haven't really seen her follow up on any of that in recent times. It's possible that we will get some sort of speech talking about the trans issue during pride month, so we'll have to see on that one. I'm still of the opinion that she shouldn't be forced to speak up on things if she doesn't want to, but given that she explicitly expressed the desire to be a voice, it's a little odd. Also maybe at the bare minimum just don't date a bigot and say it's the happiest you've ever been? Idk I wanna love her like I did a month ago so badly, but girly is def making it hard...

Re-watching and re-evaluating "M:I - Dead Reckoning (Part One)"

A long, long time ago, somewhere in the Internet ether, I had promised to review this movie. well here it is if anyone still cares

Still think the introductory scene in the submarine was a bit long, but it didn't feel as long as it did the first time when I was foaming at the mouth to see Tom and only Tom for the first time in a new movie in the theater

Definitely a lot of exposition in the first Cary Elwes/Kittridge/etc. scene, but the information was necessary for the most part. Just very funky and unnatural how they divided the dialogue amongst everyone and they were finishing each other's sentences, like people Do Not talk like that

Also did anyone else think it was weird how long it was until the intro credits montage too? Idk maybe that's my personal artistic choice talking. Either way it was a super neat montage and I loved it, regardless of when it occurred; I was just afraid the first time I saw it that we weren't going to get one 👀👀👀

The whole end-of-days AI thing is definitely way too relevant and 1) stresses me out v badly, but also 2) Tom Cruise gives me hope that maybe we will eventually defeat it, even if it's not by he himself punching it to death 🤞🏻💖

Best comprehensive soundtrack of the franchise; the only one that has actually stuck out in my mind and I can remember at all and has stirred up genuine emotion in me

The Rome car chase safely occupies the spot as the best one I've ever seen, and you can tell the difference with how they used real sets and props vs. just wall-to-wall greenscreen 😖 I also love how the hijinks with like, the handcuffs and the seat-switching feel like smth out of an older spy comedy movie?? Gabriel showed a lot of promise as a cool villain in the beginning when he was all mysterious, but ultimately there wasn't anything memorable about him for me. Only one who's earned that reward to date in M:I is Philip Seymour Hoffman, but maybe if/when we learn more about his backstory/motivation; hope is still alive for now

They've got Grace dressed like a fkin pirate there in Venice. And Pom is giving absolute "Black Parade" realness

Like kill her off if Rebecca wants to engage in other projects but give the character a proper send-off if you must. But fr, I agree with everyone's critique that she was such a welcome departure and sign of progress from the completely-interchangeable-female-action-character-who's-only-there-to-provide-new-and-different-eye-candy-every-time, and then right after she's really established and gelled with everyone they kill her off and switch her out in the team with another brunette female IN THE VERY NEXT SCENE BEFORE HER BODY IS EVEN COLD IN THE GRAVE

Yes. I understand that it's an action movie and, within the high-stakes confines of the plot, time for mourning is limited. Yes I understand that the other characters have witnessed many other deaths before. But the fact is that her character was special and different, to the characters and to us, and the filmmakers could have done it better. Ok, main gripe of the movie over 😔

Not sure if it's a plot hole or I just don't understand technology, but couldn't the Entity have messed with the computer in Benji's car when he puts it in self-drive while trying to help Ethan board the train...? 🤨🤨

Yep the Train Scene was just as brilliant and utterly harrowing as I remembered; most stressful viewing experience of me life 🥲😭

And, as much of a stretch as it was, I am a sucker indeed still for the part where Pom saves their lives 🥺 and now I kinda hope she lives and sticks around and has a badass, dare I say heroic moment or two in the future

Overall, despite my number of gripes, it still goes down as my favorite movie in the franchise overall 💖 the perfect proportions of comedy and drama, so many iconic and likable characters, and plenty of the unparalleled action sequences we've come to expect but even better than any we've seen before, and I am chomping at the bit for Part Two to eventually, someday, please please please come out thank you and see you at the movies 👋🏻✨

Character Headcannons -

Blaze - The blue jewelry she owns is from her girlfriend Glacier. She made it especially for her and she wears it with pride. - While ditsy she's gain some plant knowledge from her dead brother Scald. They were very close, spending hours together painting claws, tending to plants and trying on makeup! - She sounds like Pinky Pie from Gen 4! (I love pink characters so much agh!!) - She now spends her time with Glacier (I'm sorry but I can't let her die, Blaze needs her so badly) often helping healers with plant knowledge and trying to figure out how to get plants to grow in the Ice Kingdom. - I wanted her to look like a strawberry dragon, it just felt perfect! PINK PINK PINK!!

Blister - She's quite thin compared to her more plump or round family. Built like a snake and sounds like one too. - Her amber jewerly was gifted from her father, she loves her jewelry as she despises her mother. Giving all her attention to Blaze because "she's the baby of the family" while Oasis boasts about Burn's power in battle. Her mother tried to connect with her but she liked Char. He always knew what to say when she was upset. She was devastated when Char passed away. - She sounds like Maleficent from Sleeping Beauty 1959 - Has an secret obsession with poisons, although she herself is quite afraid of being poisoned.  - I wanted to stay mostly close to the pale snake motif. Although I just couldn't help adding orange n red to make her look fiery, almost like a super venomous snake. One that wears it's toxicity on it's scales to warn others. Also wanted her diamonds to look more interesting, I always though cannon diamonds were way to cluttered.

Burn - Had a fling with Scarlet, thought she was pretty and quite interesting. But really wasn't looking for a relationship, and after the whole face venom thing well they were not getting back together. - Def sounds like Lady Dimitrescu from RE8 - Despises her brother Singe. Everytime she looked at that awful weasel he always had something to say, either behind her back or right to her face. He always teased her for not being great at speaking or writing. Teased the way she walked, her slight mouth gape at all times. Till one day she ripped his neck to shreds, sending the dragonet almost to the heavens. After that day she was placed into fighting training where she became the power house she is now.  - Once she killed her brothers she took her time with Singe, torturing him for as long as she could. She gave Scald a more, "merciful" kill but anything would seem merciful if you saw what she did to Singe. - Yes she's a dark color bc I thought it was neat, made her look alot like her papa. She has also cut most her frill/hair off bc of dangers of fighting. Less things to grab! I tried making her hair kinda like a roman helmet but kept the theme for most the family. 

Oasis - Big boss bitch who knows exactly what to do! Smart, cunning and beautiful, she does have one odd thing about her. Body mods, she loves them dearly and enjoys her horn piercing's (altho they were a bitch to put in, their horns have a lot of nerves). She's also a adrenaline junkie, so her piercing addiction, lots of treasure and devious tactics are perfect for her.  - Loves her small man Char. If you walked in a room with both of them it's a lot like Mortica and Gomez Addams. She was devastated when Char passed away, become a more unhinged dragon in the process.  - She sounds like Mortica Addams from Wednesday (I just had to, sounds perfect). - I wanted a more light, warm theme with Oasis. Almost like desert terracotta, and yes hear scales! I thought it was cute on Blaze but Oasis HAD to have them. I also had to give her dark curly hair with highlights bc omgomg I loooove that so much. 

Char - Sounds like Gomez Addams from Wednesday (hehe small man n big wife gang) - Malewife energy all the way. He constantly embellishes himself in beautiful amber jewels while taking care of the look of the palace. Talking to his servants and giving all his children as much time as he can. His wrinkles and bags are from all the duties he does. Although he would never change it for the world, especially for his love for Oasis.  - Def has an addiction to coffee, I mean how is he going to help Scald get those new plant imports in, and buy Blaze's new makeup, help Singe hunt that beautiful beast he saw in the desert- (you get it lol). - I really wanted "im very tired" vibe with him. I also wanted to go with a dark/char look to him while keeping bright reds, oranges and yellows for fire! It gives him an intimidating look, but also has alot of warmth to it. 

Smolder - Hoenstly I don't have much for Smolder, other than that he was probably the straight man of the family. Although way more chill and with horrible sleeping issues! He's an insomniac and takes traditional medicine Scald makes for him to help him fall n stay asleep.  - Sounds like Legoshi from Beastars  - I had to make this dude greasy n tired. It was just a great idea imo. Like he has to be tired dude, and he doesn't have time to bathe!! I also made him more orange than Blister altho making sure it make them look like they come from the same hatching. 

Scald - I made him into a femboy- ENOUGH SAID, lmao. Seriously though I really wanted to give Blaze a best friend, she really deserves it! So: a very femine brother who loves beauty products but also looooves plants! He's obsessed with em and his mother made him his very own greenhouse. He loves his plants and takes care of them as much as he takes care of Blaze.  - Do not underestimate this small dude, he will kick your ass. Not only is he pretty but he will fight to protect Blaze and to prove a point. Although he is no idiot and will not pick fights, more so he fights for things worth fighting. Although he has a fear of needles so no peircings for him! - Sounds like Stolits from Helluvaboss - Blaze is a strawberry dragon, SO TANGERINE DRAGON TIME! I just really think the orange works very well for him, and I honestly wanted to make a femine male character bc I havn't really done that in a bit. I espically had fun with the flower necklace as I think it makes him stand out quite well against his family.

Singe - Awful stinky man, so smelly! He's two faced, lying, manipulating and egotystical dragon. Often picking fights with Burn as its easy for her lack of brains....well untill he was torn to shreds by her. After that he became way more fearful of the dragoness. Using expensive furs from the animals he's hunted. He's also very cowardly so no fighting or even peircings for him. - Obv sounds like Karl Heisenberg from RE8 - Honestly just a peice of shit, I have really nothing else to say lmao. - I wanted to do one more pink dragon before I finish the designs. I espically wanted a burnt pink dragon idea in mind, kinda like Char but pink! Allison was terrible in this season, but I don’t hate the way the creators handled her??? Like, I can see where they were trying to go. To me, it seemed like they were making her regress. 

Allison’s definitely used to getting what she wants thanks to her powers. We don’t know much of how Reginald handled her throughout her childhood, but I highly doubt he gave her a lesson on ethics and the importance of ‘not using your powers for selfish reasons’. So yeah, mind control powers + lack of ethics = bad. 

Allison always used her powers to get what she wanted. It’s canon: she rumored her way into a career as a popular actress, she used her power on her daughter (which led to Patrick divorcing her and her losing custody of Claire, and it’s implied that she used her powers to initiate a relationship with Patrick ("I heard a rumor that you love me”). She only started becoming a better person in season 1 because she got a wake-up call after losing custody of Claire. She gets better in season 2, and then season 3 is where she goes downhill. 

She regresses. She goes back to her old self. 

I think the reason why she’s taking the loss of Claire so badly even though all her other sibs were traumatized by their own losses is because Allison is used to getting what she wants. She’s been that way her whole life and even though she tried to be better (season 1 & 2), the loss of Claire is too much for her to handle so she regresses back. She can’t have Claire so she lashes out at everyone, she can’t have Luther so she forces him to bend to her will (it’s no different than what she did to Patrick except what she did with Patrick was way worse since it lasted longer and she even got a whole KID out of it), she can’t have what she wants so she hurts Viktor and kills Harlan. 

I’ve seen a lot of ppl be like “you only hate her because she’s black and/or a woman” and “you guys didn’t hate Luther this much for what he did” and “Viktor killed billions of people but everyone’s so quick to defend him and hate on Allison” and I’m just like... no 💀

I’m pretty sure people would hate Allison even more if she were a white dude (ESPECIALLY because of the S/A scene). 

Luther was very hated by the fandom for locking Viktor up and Viktor def did a bad thing by causing the apocalypse, but the reason people are no longer hating on them was because they at least showed remorse for what they did and changed. Allison (for now) did not. 

The best thing she did was kill Reggie to save her sibs at the very end but she still pressed the button to reset the world so she could get what she wanted (which was a life with Claire & Raymond). She constantly manipulated Viktor with her whole “trust me, I’m doing this for all of us” spiel yet she’s the only one who gets her loved ones back and keep her powers (because her’s weren’t sucked up by the machine thingy). 

She reset the world to a reality where only she would benefit from it while the rest of her siblings remain lost, miserable, traumatized, and now, powerless. Kinda sucky of her ngl 🙁

However! She’ll most likely get her redemption arc in season 4 though so I can’t wait to see how it’s handled! 😃

(Also, I can’t wait to see how the creators make Klaus even crazier than he already is! They had their fun with Luther (season 1 with his moon trauma), Diego (season 2 with his JFK obsession), and now with Allison in this season with her desperation to get Claire and Ray back. This means... it’s Klaus’ turn next 😈)

Danny stayed out of the ghost portal. And when they got back to the house, it was Jack who was poking around who accidentally hit the On switch and became a halfa. What would Jack do? Would they publish a research paper and get GIW after them?

Ok so Jcak goes in the portal, great big flash, everything just changed blah blah. He's now a human/ghost hybrid. He ofc tells Maddie because they're partners in everything. They're scared yet fascinated. Since they're convinced ghosts are evil, they thing Jack will eventually give into his 'evil' instincts. He starts distancing himself from his children in fear he'll hurt them, Maddie has weapons on her all the time specifically to take him down as needed.

But time passes and Jack, pretty much stays the same. J&M are fascinated and decide to use Jack's remaining time on Earth to study this phenomenon. They spend more and more time in the lab and, with their singular focus, don't really how worried and unhappy Danny and Jazz are. Jazz has kind of given up on them since they're now actively pulling away and she's only looking ahead to college. But Danny, sweet, sensitive, caring Danny feels like something is wrong. Wonders if there's something he can fix.

Jack Phantom makes appearances in Amity fighting ghosts occasionally but he prefers using his weaponry. It takes time for him to grow used to his abilities and what he is. Fighting dangerous ghosts again confirms his bias that they're evil and so he'll soon be that way too. Then comes the Reunion and they meet Plasmius for the first time, LOTS of inaccurate interpretations: Jack thinks Vlad is haunted by Plasmius and is trying to save him while keeping his ID a secret, Maddie puts 2 and 2 together on Vlad and Plasmius but Jack won't believe her, Vlad can't believe Jack had a similar accident to him but hides his nature to make the final blow more potent. And poor Danny, he sees Plasmius attacking his dad and thinks Jack has been pulling away bc he's being threatened by this ghost. Danny does the only thing he can do, he starts fighting ghosts.

Danny is not a natural ghost hunter but he learns and he learns quickly. Vlad learns of his attempts and finds it hilarious and sponsors Danny like he did Val in canon. Danny really looks up to Vlad and thanks him profusely for helping him to protect his dad. Vlad, in his skeevy but also pathetic way, finds he genuinely likes the attention from Danny and is impressed by his skills. He begins plotting, realizing if his and Jack's accident can happen twice on accident then he can replicate it again on purpose. He WILL have his perfect half ghost son.

Danny takes more and more responsibility as Amity's human ghost hunter. Sam and Tuck def get roped in, would be interesting if Jazz also became a ghost hunter, one who's more focused on keeping her brother safe from his dangerous new hobby. The Fenton Family has split in two from their secrets and no one realizes.

Jack Phantom and Hunter Danny (in disguise) initially start off antagonistic but it doesn't last long. Jack is too enthusiastic about a young human ghost hunter Gosh if only this could be Jack and his son! and starts telling him the ropes. Danny figures this is the ghost of an old ghost hunter and is fondly reminded of his dad who grows more distant by the day. Jack is impressed by the Hunter's techniques and Danny, well he's a hero nerd and is a bit jealous of the cool powers. Vlad keeps comically trying to pit the two against each other and it just doesn't work.

I'm losing my train of thought but things spiral further as Vlad tries to manipulate Jack in both forms, try to control and turn Danny against his folks and also somehow turn him half ghost. Danny actually gets along better with the ghosts than J&M and helps them realize that not all ghosts are evil. Just this slow journey of the Fentons breaking apart and then coming back together only no one realizes that they're actually family bonding this whole time.

And yes I am writing this because I missed writing DL content plus I miss my best vampire girl

She's actually skilled in self-defense and archery. Like she was taught to kill both humans and vampires to protect Gilbert Feinze and the Sakamaki brothers. In fact, all her shoes have hidden knives (kinda similar to Shinobu's from Demon Slayer)

The boys think she can't fight, so they always belittle her and call her "the human maid that Karlheinz has sent". It wasn't until Maya made a full spin kick in front of Reiji and threatened to cut off his head with the knife in her shoe that they took her seriously.

That was how they realized she was not sent to the manor just to be their "maid." Heck they even thought she was a vampire hunter and tried to kill her if it weren't for Karlheinz's strict order not to or else they will face his wrath (North Pole is waving)

I have never elaborated on this but there was a time that Ayato was badly wounded and a vampire hunter was almost gonna kill him if it weren't for Maya shooting the damn human with her arrow.

If you add up her monthly salary from Karlheinz plus her allowance and all the riches she inherited from Gilbert Feinze, you can say she's richer than the Sakamaki brothers. Yes they're friggin' rich but if you subtract their royal inheritances from their personal money, Maya would def be richer

Besides our vampire doll knows how to handle finances very well. It came to a point where Reiji noticed they had more savings than expenses in a month thanks to her calculations

She also ends up getting dozens of vouchers when she's out grocery shopping for the boys. This even shocked Subaru, who mostly accompanies her during this time.

She also gets another stash of money when she plays arcade games. Like there was a point she got almost banned from an arcade center for taking loads of tickets and money from them and thought our girl is cheating

This actually proves another skill of Maya, which is learning how to play a game once she knows the rules on playing them. But no, she ain't skilled with chess 'cause Kanato is a sore loser and he made sure she would never learn how to play it.

She also has good grades, and even got exempted in exams (see this fic for more details)

Her signature scent is Killian's Love Don't Be Shy because this one smells like marshmallows (fun fact: I also wear this scent, and I heard this was Rihanna's alleged signature scent??).

Maya doesn't actually wear perfumes that much but the other Sakamaki bros have a hard time looking for her in the manor so they ordered Kanato to make her wear one

Maya doesn't like the smell and taste of alcohol and other liquor because it reminds her of the brothel. And yes, the vampire juice is not an exception to this abomination. But she still uses alcohol whenever she's making food that requires them

For some reason, Maya attracts the attention of animals, especially when she and Kanato choose to walk home instead of riding in the limo. Like there's this one time she petted a cat and the next thing she became their goddess.

This annoyed Kanato cause they walked back to the manor with a trail of cats behind them.

Maya actually doesn't have a staple fashion sense except for her Victorian maid uniform. The reason is that her attire would always depend on her master.

With Gilbert Feinze, most of her clothes are kimonos, basically traditional Japanese attire. She gets to wear dresses when she accompanies him in the demon world.

When she became the Sakamaki vampire doll, her fashion was a mix of Kanato's and Subaru's so it's like pastel meets goth and soft grunge. Most of her clothes are provided by Kanato and based on how he styles her, she maintains a bit of edge even while wearing a cute outfit. Think Harajuku style meets pastel and princess core.

Aside from cherries, Maya loves marshmallows. She even made cherry marshmallows with a chocolate center just to satisfy her cravings.

Unlike Kanato, she can handle spicy foods really well. Sometimes, she would eat spicy ramen or kimchi fried rice when she's alone.

She doesn't know how to walk in heels. Because she was a vampire doll, Gilbert Feinze made sure to maintain her small stature. Kanato had to force her to practice walking in them when they were in the fake human AU (see this fic for more details)

There was a time she ruined her bangs because she cut too much of them, ending up with her crying and not leaving the bathroom until all the boys and Yui have gone to school. Kanato had to kick the door open to see what the fuss was all about

"Are you an idiot to cut your bangs without looking at them properly?" he asked, staring at her through the mirror while holding pieces of her chopped hair.

In the end, he gave her a set of cherry hairclips that she could wear to hide her hideous micro-chopped bangs

Maya doesn't often show a hint of emotions on her face. Her voice even lacks some sort of feeling in it, hence why she doesn't like partaking in school plays. The only time she shows emotions is when she's around Kanato or when she's plotting something that involves Kanato (e.g. she gave Kino a pure smile in this fic to make Kanato jealous w/c I forgot to explain in detail)

She has met the Mukami brothers and Kou even attempted to adopt her just for a week. Up to this day, Kou never learns and still tries to win her over

Maya doesn't talk that much with the Tsukinami bros. They don't even bother to communicate with her so it's a tie

Her small height (145 cm) is because of partly genetics and upbringing. Since she grew up being starved and abused in the brothel, her growth was kind of "halted." Think Levi Ackerman from AOT.

Shortened Lifespan: Edelgard vs Lysithea

Now, technically, I’ve already made a post like this before, but I wanted it to be it’s own thing (brought about by a mutual tagging a post of mine and me wanting to go more into depth with it lol).

It’s been very widely accepted by the fandom that Edelgard and Lysithea both go through the expectation of living a shortened life due to the blood experiments done to them, with this partly being used as part of the defense/reasoning for Edelgard going to war instead of doing something more peaceful. She thinks she’s on a timer, like Lysithea, so she hard-starts change to work around her short-lived clock. Makes sense, on the surface. 

But like I’ve mentioned on here before, I personally just can’t buy it. Nothing besides the immediate connection of “Edelgard and Lysithea both went through experimentation” suggests that Edelgard has the same shortened lifespan that Lysithea is suffering through.

One thing that immediately stands out, to me, are the differences between their stat spreads and growths (focusing on stats on this post). 

Here are Edelgard’s (note: Statues not applied - add five to the stats if you want the true max values):

They are extremely good, especially for a default armor unit.  Str and especially Mag are very high, average Dex and Spd (though notably good for an armor unit), good Def, amazing Charm. Her Luck and Res are the only things that are even kinda bad - it’d more accurate to say they’re below average, tho again, 47 Res on an armor unit is fairly high. In fact, of the units that lean towards armor, Edelgard has the highest Res, and even beats out some units that aren’t armor-leaning such as Claude and Felix. Even her seemingly low HP (for an armor) is mitigated by the fact that it’s still some of the highest for a female unit overall (the fifth highest, beat out by Petra, Rhea, Manuela, and Hilda)

What are Lysithea’s, in contrast? (blacked out everyone above her for easier reading):

...Uh. Yeah. In contrast to Edelgard’s far more even spread, Lysithea’s are skewed to fuck. The best Mag in the game and the second highest Dex (losing only to Claude’s 89), and some nice Spd, sure, but everything else takes an extremely large hit. 48 HP is the lowest in the game, pitiful Str and Def, and mediocre Luck, Res, and Charm. This girl is held together by toothpicks, Elmer’s glue, and God’s mercy.

So right off the bat, there’s a huge difference between the two of them in this regard, but I decided to go even further; just how off are Lysithea’s stats, actually? Some things make sense, like low Str and Def, so how different is she compared to others in her class type (magic users).

The magic users of the following factions have the Str stat underlined. First, BE:

GD:

CoS:

From what we can see, 30 Str isn’t actually out of the norm for a female magic user. The outliers are Rhea and Manuela with their Str in the low 50′s being not just the highest of the women, but of all the main magic users period, though part of that could be contributed to their age (vs Hanneman who is both older - in terms of physical age at least - and who does not focus on physical strength like someone like Gilbert) (Rhea being an older Nabatean could also attribute to this - notice Seteth’s stat spread which also has notably high Mag for a Wyvern Rider unit and Flayn’s, who is younger and who also had only recently woken from a centuries long sleep that she fell into after nearly dying, more odd spread). Following them for the women is Annette, who as we know lugs around a giant axe (Crusher’s weight is 11, making it heavier than most swords and bows and a good few lances - fun fact, it’s heavier than Areadbhar!) which likely lends to her having above average Str for her gender and unit type combination

Now, here’s the fun part: let’s look at the same unit’s Res stats

Here’s where an interesting pattern shows up that’s fairly consistent: if a magic unit has bad Str, they have good/great Res to compensate, and vice versa. Annette’s above average Str (remember, for what she is) coincides with her bad Res, same as Manuela’s, and all the magic units with their ass Str have at least a respectable Res to go along with it. The only ones who break this rule are Rhea, due to her Str and Mag being fairly even with a lean towards magic (and also not being playable lol)... and Lysithea. Who has both a shit Str and shit Res stat. Even amongst her magical peers, Lysithea still stands out as particularly fragile and physically weak.

HOWEVER

Do note, for all of the above in terms of going over stats, that they aren’t necessarily the best indicator of anything in particular when it comes to a character; there is no version of me in the multiverse that will ever believe Manuela is stronger than Rhea or that Lorenz has the same amount of stamina as Dimitri, for example. But it is something to note when looking at Edelgard and Lysithea, due to them going through the same experiments and yet one is very clearly doing better in terms of damn near everything and the other very clearly lagging behind in damn near everything

Moving on, we have their Banes and Boons. Edelgard’s Boons are Axes, Swords, Heavy Armor, and Authority, with Banes in Faith and Bows. Of note, Edelgard will say in a Study Request that she believes it is her specifically having two Crests that allows her to be able to shrug on armor like it’s nothing, and her defaulting to an armor class with an axe as her default weapon makes her the literal heaviest she could theoretically be. On top of that, her Banes point to nothing about her physical health hindering her ability to do physically laborious feats.

Lysithea, on the other hand, has Boons in Faith, Reason, and Authority, with Banes in Swords, Lances, Axes, Heavy Armor, as well as Clearing Rubble as a Group Task activity. She has a budding talent in Swords - the lightest of the weapons she’s bad at and some of the lightest weapons in the game - that gives her access to a Combat Art that lets her use something other than Str to give Mt to her sword-based attack. Lysithea, in terms of Banes and Boons when compared to Edelgard (or anyone, really), is very clearly unable to do physically demanding things very well - it’s something she’s actively bad at doing and is a consistent fact about her that crops up in not just her stats and Banes and Boons, but also her supports. Edelgard’s situation is the same.

Edelgard has her supports with Ferdinand, as well as Ferdinand��s supports with Byleth, that showcase her being exceptionally good at combat in terms of physical fighting (as in, no magic, and having a talent in doing feats that would require a good amount of stamina). She beats Ferdinand in combat with one strike, and she is able to take on a Demonic Beast by herself while still fresh in the academy. There are no mentions of her being winded or tired from fighting, and she is more than once praised for her battle prowess.

Lysithea, meanwhile, has at least three supports (Byleth, Lorenz, Cyril) that indicate less than stellar stamina, health, and strength (she straight up faints in Byleth’s supports). While characters looking out for her health can maybe be somewhat attributed to her being one of the youngest students in the cast, the difference between and, say, Cyril, who’s even younger than her, is that she genuinely shows signs of ill health when she pushes herself too far, vs Cyril who is fine even with how much he works. When talking about her prowess in battle it is only ever in regards to her magical capabilities, not anything else, and she is seen constantly working on those capabilities.

And then lastly, there are their endings.

Edelgard has no endings that mention needing to be rid of her Crests - save one, which will be looked at in a bit. In particular, she has an ending with Hubert that indicates she lives on to her “later years,” which is usually attributed to a fairly old age. It is not, in this case, referring to Edelgard’s specific later years (for example, a person who lives to 30 can say their mid-twenties was the later years of their life), because it specifically says that she and Hubert live to their later years, which more likely points towards a longer life.

Lysithea in contrast has multiple endings that either has her and/or her lover actively looking for means to get rid of Lysithea’s Crests, or explicitly say that she dies young. There’s... not much more to add to that lmao

But! There is one ending with Edelgard that mentions her getting rid of her Crests, and it even says they restore her lost time! That’s proof positive, isn’t it?

Well, funnily enough, this is her ending with Lysithea that mentions this, and it... appears to be straight up incorrectly translated. As has been pointed out by others, the JPN ending doesn’t specifically mention restoring their lifespans, it simply says Edelgard and Lysithea “discovered a way to exchange the crest’s power for the restoration of a lost lifespan.” While, if we look at the surface level “Edelgard and Lysithea both had Crests implanted into them” similarity, it makes sense to attribute this restoration to the both of them, looking at everything else leans towards this statement mostly being for Lysithea. Which, given that this is the only ending - or really, the only place period - Edelgard has that even mentions her wanting to be rid of her Crest, let alone actively working towards it, it makes sense that this isn’t for her. 

Now, all of the above isn’t directly pointing towards anything - it’s a lot of speculation, since nothing about Edelgard herself having a short life is ever explicitly said in the game. But when looking at all of the differences between Lysithea and Edelgard, when looking at how badly Lysithea stacks against everyone else vs how amazing Edelgard stacks, at how often dying young is mentioned with Lysithea vs Edelgard, at how much Lysithea focuses on her lifespan vs Edelgard, I personally just can’t believe that they’re similarly afflicted with a shortened life. 

There’s almost nothing in the game to suggest that other than the one thing they have in common, which is the experiments themselves - if they do, then Edelgard simply doesn’t care as much about it as Lysithea, and/or it isn’t nearly to the extent of Lysithea, to the point where she feels no need to mention it anywhere. And this is the same character that brings up her ten dead siblings in the first support with the player character, so something as big as “oh yeah and I’m going to die relatively soon and young” feels like something she would similarly mention as something one should know about her, which she doesn’t. This seems, to me, to be just a popular fan theory that isn’t really all that supported in the game itself.

His soulmate is younger than him. Dick was seven when his toddler soulmate first got his hands on crayons and drew on his own arms.

He’s a ‘he,’ which was less of a surprise to Dick than it maybe should be. 

He’s from Gotham. 

His life has been one of bruises, and they’ve only been getting worse over the last four years. 

His soulmate is stubborn and always writes, It’s fine whenever Dick asks. (Dick, in turn, can’t push too much since he gets banged up regularly himself. Still. It’s not fun, having to press down on the blue and green spots on your arm to figure out whose pain they are.) 

He’s compassionate in a way that reminds Dick of why he’s doing his night job in the first place, and he loves his city so much. 

He makes Dick laugh.

What’s missing? Oh, only unimportant information like, say, his name. 

It’s fine. Dick can be patient. He’s twenty-one; his soulmate is sixteen. They have all the time in the world to figure each other out when his soulmate turns eighteen. 

Until his soulmate writes, I’m on a plane to Africa; trying to figure out some things with my real family, and Bruce calls Dick about Jason running off and leaving a cryptic note about his mother, and everything is suddenly very much not okay because his soulmate is Jason and this—this could go badly. 

Wait for us, Dick writes and gets no reply. 

The plane ride is agony. Jason doesn’t write a thing. No new injuries are appearing on Dick’s body, so that’s good, but it stills feels like he’s not breathing until the plane touches down in Ethiopia and they trace Jason to the outcrop of a small town. 

(Bruce must know what’s up, watching Dick frantically write on the back of his hand for the entire trip, things like please and don’t run and I have a bad feeling about this. He never says a word.) 

At first, Dick thinks he might have overreacted. Jason’s fine. A little bit shaken at whatever his mother told him, maybe, and there are some things going on, but it’s nothing Batman and Robin and Nightwing can’t easily handle. Then news arrives that Joker has set bombs. Again. 

Bruce points out that they need to split up—save as many people as possible. Theoretically, he is right. Theoretically, Dick should go with him; Jason has this part well in hand. There’s no reason for Dick to stay. 

But stay he does. It’s just—he just found his soulmate. And sure, Jason isn’t exactly who he expected it to be, isn’t someone he’s ever let himself consider that way—but he’s Dick’s soulmate, and if Dick is feeling a little clingy at that realization, then sue him. 

Thirty minutes later, a warehouse burns and Dick is so, go glad he did. 

They barely made it out alive. That woman—Jason’s mother, and Dick burns at that, how could she—sold them out, and they couldn’t save her. The Joker is a crumpled, tied-up heap. Dick isn’t entirely sure the clown survived his last blow (the one dealt with the Joker’s own crowbar because how dare he attack Jason—a kid—Dick’s soulmate—), and he doesn’t give two shits. 

Jason’s alive; that’s all that matters. 

They’re leaning against each other, covered in enough soot and bruises that not a single mark on their skins is visible when Dick asks: “How long have you known?” 

Jason’s downturned eyes are the only answer. Dick isn’t ready to let it go, though: “It’s kinda a big deal. Why didn’t you say anything?” 

“You would have stopped writing.” 

Dick remembers: You won’t like me when I’m me, rubbed red and raw as if his soulmate wrote it in the black of the night and immediately regretted it. 

Truth is, he has no idea what to do next. Jason’s so young. Dick’s so broken. They just watched Jason’s mother die. 

He’s trusted his soulmate so far, Dick decides. He can trust him a little bit longer. Now, he only needs to convince Jason to do the same. 

“We’ll talk about it more when we’re home,” he promises and smiles when Jason’s head snaps up, hope written large across his face. “And I mean talk. No Batman-style sulking, alright?” 

“Shut up,” Jason grins, “you’re at least as—“ 

Bruce’s arrival, shoulders tense and jaw tight in the way Dick recognizes as panic, interrupts the exchange. Dick is heartened by it, anyway, and even more so when he later washes away the grime from his hands and finds a tiny scrawl next to all of his pleas for Jason to stay:
