Please talk about what you love the most about your lil blorbos (Cable and Maverick and anyone else!) and what has been a fun challenge while playing them! And any other details that you're like "this is so neat but so niche so no one will know unless this VERY SPECIFIC SCENARIO COMES UP"
HEHEHEH WELL SINCE YOU ASKED….. :3c
cable—
Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media
i fuckin love this guy.
the basic rundown of cable: he’s charming, charismatic, loves spontaneity, and loves living life dangerously!! he’s all about doing what makes you happy and is a big advocate for self-love. they’ve got a high self-esteem and know their self-worth (he knows he’s hot shit and loves himself a lot!! ❤️) they also used to work at a brothel and are super open about their sexuality. this guy? horny. they love performing and pole dancing and wearing high heels. he’s also very affectionate and loves any and all kinds of physical contact. he’s also aromantic and pansexual!! he is platonic partners with my gf’s character, ophelia 💕
you ask me what i love about cable and it’s just. all of him LMAO.
i love cable sm because there’s a lot of myself in him (i made their character at a time when i was doing a lot of self-reflection). also he’s so open and honest and self-confident, i’m like— WOW, i aspire to be like you someday…
if i were to give a challenge i have while playing them… i love rp (it is my favorite part of dnd), but i fear i’m not the best at improv. i tend to get nervous during sessions for this campaign specifically. i think it’s that i’m so self-conscious about playing cable accurate to how i imagine him in my head that i’m just a bundle of nerves. i’m nervous at first, but eventually i get into a groove the longer the session goes on. though, these past few sessions especially, i’ve been pretty happy with how i’ve been playing him!! it delights me when my friends tell me they love cable as well 🥺
i also play leiana, my high elf druid!!
Tumblr media
i realized i haven’t talked about her / showed her publicly on social media at all, so here she is. i don’t have as many things to say about her as i do cable, but i love her all the same!!
she was the first character i tried to give an accent to (irish), and while my irish accent is definitely not that good— it is what it is. this is just how she sounds like, and it’s good enough for me.
leiana is a cartographer and she loooooves bugs. loves bugs. which is very much not like me because i am, unfortunately, a little bug hater. but leiana has such a fascination with nature and bugs especially. she studies bugs and likes to pin them (she only pins dead ones she finds, she would never kill a bug herself) and she has a collection of pinned bugs!
she also has a pet tarantula named fenri, who can change colors! (he’s primarily pink and matches leiana’s hair.)
leiana is no stranger to grief and she fears dying. currently she is trying to distance herself from the party for Reasons 🥲
while i have a few more dnd characters, they are for upcoming campaigns that i have yet to play in!! cable and leiana are the two i am actively playing at the moment :3
maverick is also in my brain constantly these days, but unfortunately i cannot talk abt xem for reasons….one day i will gush abt them to my heart’s content…
thank u for letting me chatter abt my ocs, i give u a little kiss on the forehead

Why can’t m*levens just accept that Mike has just been very badly written these last two seasons? Like, they keep saying that it’s because us bylers want him to babysit Will or whatever (when Will himself has indirectly stated that Mike’s the only one who doesn’t and that makes him feel normal despite everything and that’s canon) when most of the GA has noticed that the writing for Mike has sucked? They keep justifying everything he’s done with “he was focused on El because she was in danger” okay at the beginning of s4 she wasn’t in danger and he still couldn’t even hug Will for no reason and they’d be just okay with that because “people can grow apart that’s realistic” but then when you tell them that maybe, just maybe, Mike and El’s relationship has some serious problems that might result in a break up later on suddenly it’s the end of the world? Because he said “i love you”? It’s not realistic for kids to break up? I don’t understand for the life of me how the writing for m*leven has been so bad both in s3 and s4 and there’s people still interested in their relationship? Their bond is indeed special, but I feel like reducing the whole storyline to a forced and out of place “I love you” (that doesn’t even feel earned because El had to be crying and later almost dying in front of him to be let out, at the same time that Max was also dying) is just not a good way to write a relationship and there was literally no need to write it like that. It wasn’t the “mature relationship problems” that the interviews have been pushing because their relationship simply isn’t mature. I’ve never seen Mike and El actually, properly talk in three damn season. It’s okay to ship them; it’s not okay to not notice that the writing has not been doing them justice. And it’s just there for them to see: people have lost interest in them. People from the GA who don’t care about other ships. Refusing to see the reality that this is a badly written couple is not the woke take they want it to be, they’re not seeing something nobody else is seeing, it’s just plain bad and lazy writing, and the same goes for not accepting that Mike as character has been neglected for the sake of his relationship with El. Sorry for the rant.
So, while I understand your take on this and where you're coming from, I actually don't think Mike's character was written poorly in seasons 3 and 4, mostly because I've seen this exact dynamic play out in my own life. I had a friend I used to do everything with in elementary school and we were constantly joking around and playing games until one day she completely changed up on me and told me that she didn't want to be silly or play games anymore because it wasn't mature. To her, maturity looked like giving up a lot of the things you enjoyed as a kid in order to be more serious or more adult; it's kind of an attempt to prove to yourself that you're ready for this transition into adulthood. And while there was never anything romantic between my friend and I, I was left really confused and feeling rejected because it didn't really just feel like she was rejecting herself, it felt like she was rejecting me too. This is almost exactly what we see play out in Mike and Will's dynamic in season 3. In seasons 1 and 2, we see Mike being attentive to his friends, embracing his weirdness, loving and writing campaigns for DnD, and spending quality time with Will. When El comes back into the picture in season 3, Mike believes that he's being asked to step up and being pushed into this next phase in his life in which he believes he has to be more serious and mature, which to him means rejecting all of the things that once made him happy in order to fit into this mold of what he believes is expected of him, to grow up, get serious, and dedicate his time to his girlfriend. That's why he seems to have no real balance between his relationship with El and his friends, because he doesn't really believe that he can be both. To this version of Mike, he views not only his interests, but his relationship with Will as something that is childish that he now has to give up in order to reach adulthood. If we read his character this way, then it makes a lot more sense as to how this story arc intertwines with Will's arc in season 3. We see Will confused because all of his friends seem more interested in their girlfriends than in the hobbies that they shared together, and he isn't sure why his friends, especially Mike, seem like different people all of a sudden. So when we see Mike and Will's fight in the rain, Mike is attempting to reject what he views as childish (games, fantasy, and his love for Will), but Will only really feels it as Mike rejecting him, and this sets up the events of season 4 with a lot more clarity.
To your point about Mike and El's relationship, I also don't think that it's poorly written, but I don't think it's authentic either. In season 3, the only real scenes we get with Mike and El are them either making out or whispering to each other, both of which don't display true emotional maturity or a real basis for connection. Their relationship is obsessive and based in a lot of routine. I think both Mike and El use this relationship as a way to explore what they think growing up and maturing is supposed to look like, but they do this to the detriment of themselves because El forms her sense of self around Mike and Hopper while Mike gives up his interests and the parts of himself that make him unique in order to appear normal in this relationship with El.
Anyway, I go more into my take on the writing of Mike in season 4 in this ask if you'd like to check it out, but I 100% believe that Mike's story arc has always been intentional.

alex. can you. tell me about your dnd ocs. 5 paragraph minimum
WELL I SURE THINK I CAN HEEHEHEEEHE
ok so before i get into it, i do have a whole oc blog @glasyasbutch that i used to use a lot when we were all locked inside our houses and now i reblog like. one post a week. BUT it does have a page w all the characters so u can see like. art and stuff bc i wont be trying to add images to this post
OKAYOKAY OKAY . SO. I . okay. okay. I’m not gonna do all of them bc i have a lot of them but i’ll do . all the ones I’ve played recently + a few others I think are really fun.
1. Stitch: this is the PC from the game i was talking about in the server last night, its not actually d&d, it’s a noir detective-inspired super power system called City of Mist. Our campaign is set in a steampunk-ish tiered city with like 300 floors to it, the higher you go the richer it gets. Stitch is an early 20s girl who wears huge glasses and turtlenecks/scarves all the time. She’s a seamstress who makes dresses for the upper upper floors.
About four years ago one of her regular clients, Bela la Monte, was actually another rift (in universe name for people w powers) training Stitch in using her powers, which are. I guess easiest way to describe it is force powers?? She can like push/pull/crush/stretch things at a distance, with a lot of strength coming at the cost of no fine control (she can blow down a door, but couldn’t be delicate enough to just turn the handle).
She killed Bela’s husband in an accident with her powers, essentially crushing his throat and killing him, and she suffered a little bit of backlash which left her with marks on her own neck which she wears the high necks/scarves to hide. Bela took the heat of the criminal investigation, basically playing up the Black Widow trope and implying she was the one who killed him but would pay her way out of a conviction if she got one so it wouldn’t be worth it to charge her.
During the investigation, Bela and Stitch agreed to stop spending time around each other to try and keep them from prying too much into Stitch and potentially uncovering her guilt, and Stitch just hasn’t heard from Bela in 4 years. (Unbeknownst to her, Bela convinced herself that the accident was premeditated and Stitch had been planning to take them both out, and now has a huge vendetta she’s waiting for right moment to follow through on). Without Bela’s guidance, Stitch has been trying to find other Rifts who can help her learn about and control her powers, which means sticking her nose into all kinds of troublesome accidents and mysteries around the city but also having to stay unnoticed so her past doesn’t get dug up.
2. Craving: My one and only, I have genuinely written like 3000 word essays about Craving’s backstory and I will try to pare it down.
She’s a tiefling, wine red skin w very very very long very very very curly hair. One side of her head appears to have very close cropped hair but if you look closely, it’s actually very little barbs, which she actually has all over her body (she is a barbed tiefling). shes goth and wears exclusively like victorian style ballgowns that make her boobs look good. She started as a rogue and over the course of the campaign also started taking levels in warlock (i’ll talk more on that later).
she has like every tragic backstory you can think of all smashed into one. she grew up poor in a gentrified area, her parents dying while she was young due to poverty/medical malpractice (more there that i dont have space to get into or i’ll be here all day). she (named velis at the time), her brother sirris, and sirris’ boyfriend rolx ran their family’s antique store and were barely scraping by but it was a happy life, until one day the shop got ransacked and set on fire with them still inside in a deliberate hate crime. sirris died, and velis and rolx vowed revenge.
they took the names craving (because she would never be able to take back enough of what the world owed her) and manic (because he was only living to satisfy his rage) and basically went on a revenge quest, first killing the guys who set fire to their town and then just sticking with the outlaw “rich people don’t deserve shit, bleed em dry” mentality.
while doing that, she met a gnome named stella who had her own fire-based dead family trauma that caused her to turn to a life of crime and they got arrested and broke out of jail together. Over several months of meeting randomly, and then not-so-randomly, to spend the night and work jobs together they fell in love but craving refused to admit it bc she’d seen w her parents and then rolx and sirris that love only ends in tragedy.
and she was right - stella went missing without a trace one day (i have other backstory there again wont get into it or we’ll be here all day). alone again w just her and manic, they ended getting sucked into barovia aka inescapable vampire-infested hellscape. which is the actual campaign.
two other people in the party were a rogue/warlock named leoros and a cleric named judhas. craving was immediately very jealous of leoros bc, due to a combination of him having super crazy stat bonuses and me not being able to roll dice for shit, basically was just better at being a rogue than craving was. and she has a HUGE ego and a HUGE inferiority complex and would have done anything to not feel second best.
enter judhas, who as it turns out, was a cleric of asmodeus. the devil. and he was like uhhhhh you know. i can hook you up with someone. and he sent glasya, the demon in charge of manipulation and loopholes to offer craving a warlock pact to give her powers. in one of the coolest rp moments of all time, she showed up trying to strike a chord with the inferiority complex being like “oooh craving ... youre so weak and pathetic ... you have no morals and no skills ... its only a matter of time before they all realize it and leave you ... what a pity.” and then craving starts LAUGHING and she’s like “you almost had me, you really did, but the only thing I hate worse than being weak is being pitied.” and then GLASYA goes “well, before you leave, can i at least show you why I pity you?”
AND THEN!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! SHE PULLS UP A LOST SOUL FROM HELL AND IS LIKE “IF YOU TOOK MY DEAL, AND LET ME TEACH YOU, YOU MIGHT EVENTUALLY HAVE  THE POWER TO SAVE HIM. BUT IF YOU DON’T, WELL ... AND TURNS TO LOOK AT THE SOUL AND SAYS ‘SAY GOODBYE TO CRAVING, SIRRIS. TELL ROLX HELLO FOR HIM’ AND VANISHES.
Now, that was not Actually craving’s brother sirris but just a random soul named sirris, but obviously craving doesn’t know that, and so while manic is being offered powers by this super duper good god who’s trying to give him (and craving by extension) a redemption arc, craving gets judhas to call glasya back up and signs a pact with glasya without even reading it because she’s just so desperate to be able to save her brother, even though this is definitely going to damn her to hell, she was probably going anyways so. what’s the loss.
and ughgghghgh it’s just SO much fun to rp as her and her story is so well crafted, much thanks to our DM and the player for manic, and its so tragic and so good and it makes me go crazy if i think about it too much and yeah.
Gent:  Ok this one’s pure wish fulfillment, he’s a he/him lesbian named Gent as in Gentleman. He’s a blue tiefling, a pirate, a wizard with a sword, and the sexiest bitch alive.
He’s from a campaign set in the world of one of my fave ttrpg shows to watch (critical role) and basically he grew up in a port city and had some innate magical ability that got noticed by one of the captains of a ship that often docked in port there. She offered to train him and get him private tutelage from the big name wizard recluse who lived in a tower in the middle of the city IF he agreed to work as a deckhand on her crew, which he happily took up.
Her name was Captain Crystal and as it turned out, the trade ship was only a cover. She and her crew were all casters and they ran one of the most feared pirate ships, which physically transformed as they pulled out of sight of port. The sails would change color, the ship would become swathed in shadow, and the masthead of a dainty girl with a dagger held in folded hands against her sternum would lean forwards, bear its pointed teeth, and brandish the dagger as it grew into a cutlass.
Captain Crystal eventually has plans to use her caster crew to lead a coup and crown herself pirate queen, but as she’s been biding her time Gent’s been training up to a very high level abjuration wizard which without getting too much into d&d mechanics is basically like a defensive/protection wizard and trust me its very cool and sexy. He has a sword that he casts all of his spells out of which is also very cool and sexy.
Overall he’s very sociable, very friendly, but his biggest downfall is that he hates not knowing things. He will put himself in an unreasonable amount of danger just to figure things out because he hates not understanding how all the pieces are being put together. His character voice is me doing a bad russian accent.
Tov:  Tov is my character from an abandoned campaign that I will never forgive the fact that it got abandoned because he’s literally my only guy ever and I love him so much.
He’s a silver dragonborn and his whole deal is like. Okay so in d&d lore gods are real and tangible and thousands of years ago they fought a bunch of wars against each other using the people on the material plane as their armies, and the dragon god bahamut created an entire race of dragonlings to fight in his name. Tov is from a clan of dragonborns that can actually trace their lineage all the way back to one of these armies created by a god and due to that, pretty much everyone in the clan has some innate magical ability.
keyword: pretty much. tov was one of the few people in recorded history born without any innate magic and he and his brother nagrax spent years and years trying to find ways to bring out the magic that was lying latent in him, or find him another way to gain powers so that he wouldn’t basically be the dud of the family. They ended up going to this site that had been mentioned as a place of great power and mystery, and it turned out to be a gate to the shadowfell (which is like. its overrun with shadow and decay and the plane itself feeds on your life force and corrupts your sense of humanity and turns you into a walking shell of yourself basically).
tov walked through the gate and got a little nugget of shadowfell implanted in him and it corrupted him and made him bent on nothing but destruction and he stepped back out of the gate and tried to kill his brother. rax eventually subdued him and was like “tov what the fuck” and tov was like “the ... the gate ... it showed me this horrible shadow version of you and i just felt the need to destroy it i didnt know it was really you at first” and rax was like. “at first? when did you realize it was me?” and tov just doesn’t answer because he realized pretty soon in that it was his real brother but he still couldn’t fight the urge to kill him
and rax was like, listen i dont know what walked back out of that gate but it’s not my brother anymore. my brother would never have tried to harm me once he realized. and as a testament to his memory, i am going to let you live. and i am going to back home. by myself. and tell everyone that tov died so at least his name isn’t tarnished by whatever the hell is wrong with you. and i never want to see you again. and leaves
and now tov is just alone, he gained magic but at the cost of his family and his humanity which is cosntantly fighting with this piece of the shadowfell inside him. he took up monsterhunting because he thought it might be a helpful way to channel his desire to destroy, and in the process met this woman savra who was basically brainwashed by a murder cult in her youth and now works this thing called the order of the gauntlet which is basically a protection guild that works to keep the city safe and the law just.
and she offers tov a job there and they’ve grown closer as friends and were just starting to date before the campaign cut off, but like they’re both people who are haunted by a past of horrid horrid destruction who are both learning how to be more than the blood on their hands, and that there are people in this world who can know the worst parts of them and love them anyways, and she was going to call him a good man and really mean it and he’d feel a weight fall off his shoulders and they were going to get married and tov was going to have a home and family for the first time in like 10 years but we never finished the campaign and it makes me scream and cry
ok those are like my top 3 + stitch and ive already written wayyyyy too much but i have. many many more and i could talk about them forever.
(ezra glimmer ebbie nissy are all ones ive actually played and have many many thoughts about; stella (from cravings backstory) hed’ja billie and unnamed klingon ripoff are ones i just have concepts for but havent had a chance to play in a campaign bc they’d require a Lot of homebrew worldbuilding to make their concepts work, but if you want to know more about any of THOSE guys feel free to ask but youve already had to read so much im not putting more on here)

The RotBTD+ Gang Plays DnD! (Feat. my ships, sorry not sorry XD)
So highkey I’ve actually been wanting to do a “The Gang Plays DnD” type post for AGES now, but then I saw @hobie-brown and @ohlooksheswriting-wips do DnD AU posts for RotBTD, and then I was like “Ah shit, I really should finish mine, eh?” So thank you to both of you for inspiring me to get off my ass and actually write the post!!!
Hiccup DMs. He comes up with this super complex plot revolving around dragons (because of course) where the party has to dismantle this society ruled by evil knights who want to genocide all of the dragons. Imagine his chagrin when the party wants to do nothing but fuck around in towns and aggravate NPCs 90% of the time.
They usually end up playing at Jack’s apartment, mainly because Hiccup’s dad doesn’t really want a bunch of loud nerds yelling about 20-sided dice in his household while he’s trying to work, if he can at all help it. Jack’s sister regularly barges into their living room and roasts the fuck out of Jack and his friends for being such damn nerds and eats all of their DnD snacks they’ve set out. If they’re in the middle of a combat session, she always gleefully proclaims that they’re all going to die. While Jack is annoyed by this, the rest of the party finds it deeply hilarious.
Jack Overland plays the absolute mayhem warlock Jack Frost, who got his powers through making a deal with the archfey Prince of Frost and has absolutely no qualms about being an evil god’s mortal Sower of Chaos. He spends the vast majority of the campaign doing such useful things as creating ice slicks under annoying NPCs and freezing people’s drinks. He also plays a Tiefling because absolutely no one can talk this boy out of playing the creepy demon race.
Rapunzel plays a woodland nymph druid who is also the party healer (because of course she is). Her name is probably Sunlily or something else suitably hippie-esque. Whenever there’s downtime (or whenever the rest of the party is also dicking around, and she can get away with it), Rapunzel likes to go into the nearest forest and pick the best berries and nuts for the rest of the party. She also loves baking fruit pies and cooking the best nymph food for her companions when given the chance. Definitely the party Cinnamon Roll (every party has one!). She often will turn into cute animals to distract the guards while the party infiltrates a building.
Merida’s character is the party archer and general ranged weapon master, as well as a raging lesbian. Hiccup learns very quickly that any male NPC who tries to flirt with her will very quickly get impaled with an arrow. She can’t ever decide if she wants to be a ranger or a rogue, so she multiclasses in both for flare. She also plays a Tiefling, and continually insists that her character is both scarier and sexier than Jack’s. In combat, she either Leeroy Jenkins her way in with a sword and just starts slashing every which way, or just shoots 90% of the enemies with arrows before the fight even starts. There’s really no in between. She can get away with this because she’s highkey one of the party tanks, and consistently deals a shitton of damage.
Anna plays a human bard, basically having read over the class options and going “Wait, in this one I get to make stylish medieval music??? And wear dramatic and garish outfits and a dumb hat??? And cast wacky illusion spells??? And do silly little magic tricks??? And INSPIRE EVERYONE??? Hell yeah, I’m in!!!” She mostly uses magic attacks in combat (definitely favors Tasha’s Hideous Laughter), but occasionally when she’s out of spell slots she’ll just take to slamming enemies in the face with her lute. She also has WAY too much fun with Vicious Mockery, let’s be real.
Elsa, upon hearing Jack’s character concept, rolls her eyes so far up in her head she can see her damn brain, and vows to play his concept, but serious–solely out of spite. She rolls up a super OP elf Chaos Sorcerer, filled with lots of brooding angst about how uncontrollable her winter powers can get if she isn’t careful. She combines it a bit with Storm Sorcerer so she can create literal blizzards, and Hiccup ends up allowing it just because he thinks it’s cool. Although Elsa’s character is undoubtedly aggravated by the rest of the party’s antics, she starts becoming grudgingly protective of these idiots and can deal some pretty crazy damage when her companions are threatened. She also contains one of the party’s only brain cells.
Eugene of course plays dashing rogue master thief Flynn Rider. Although his high deception and lockpicking skills certainly come in handy, he’s the most chaotic neutral fucker you’ve ever met and will take any excuse to rob NPCs blind or cheat them out of every cent they have in a tavern card game. It’s nigh impossible to get him to cooperate with the rest of the party much of the time, and often Elsa’s character has to either bribe him with some of her family’s gold or threaten to freeze him to stop him backstabbing one or more party members. Eugene’s character forces Hiccup to add in many more heist plotlines than he originally intended. This delights Eugene immensely, and sometimes he goes a bit crazy planning elaborate heists.
Moana plays a sorcerer water genasi. She can control any body of water, but she has a special affinity for controlling saltwater (i.e. the ocean lol). She also requests an animal handling bonus, but only with marine animals, solely because she thought it would be funny. She’s also an ex-pirate who robbed a lot of wealthy merchant ships and freed their slaves back in the day, which Merida thinks is incredibly badass. Moana tends to get bored and unengaged when there are no bodies of water to play around with, so Hiccup ends up having to add a lot more lakes, rivers, and oceans to the campaign than he originally planned on. Moana also takes a sailing skill, and thus the party often ends up traveling by boat. Typically Eugene and Rapunzel will infiltrate and hijack it, and Moana will sail it. Moana probably contains the party’s only other brain cell.
Astrid plays a gigantic berserker orc barbarian who is never without his trusty axe. Astrid is hands down the party’s top tank, and unquestionably deals the most damage every combat session. Much like Merida’s character, Astrid’s character is absolutely a shameless power fantasy. Hiccup pretty easily picks up on this, but is too polite to say anything about it. Jack also picks up on this, but is hardly as courteous as their DM, and teases Astrid mercilessly. Astrid is not amused.
Rapunzel requests that her weapon of choice be a frying pan, her justification being that her character found a discarded one at the edge of a human village outside her woods and mistaked it for a highly-dangerous human weapon. Hiccup is like “…you know what? Fuck it” and rolls up stats for a goddamn frying pan. Jack has nigh-endless admiration for Rapunzel for choosing such a goddamn memey, absurd, yet oddly effective weapon and it definitely makes the poor boy even more smitten with her than he already is.
Eugene and Merida have a bet going on who can sleep with more sexy barmaids. Merida is currently winning, much to Eugene’s chagrin. She’s not even inherently better at seducing NPCs, she and Eugene have the same charisma stat–she just consistently rolls better than Eugene. Eugene is incredibly salty about this.
Anna and Elsa want to be sisters in-game as well, but neither want to change their race–so Anna decides her character was adopted. Hiccup and the rest of the party go along with it, mainly because there’s something deeply hilarious about a regular human bard being adopted and raised by a family of high-powered elf ice mages.
Astrid is absolutely the sort of player who tends to get bored and restless outside of fights, and tends to fidget and twiddle her thumbs waiting for the next combat session. Jack picks up on this, and purposely does more roleplay for longer just to piss her off. He’s also just a very dramatic fucker and highkey loves roleplay.
When she’s not causing mayhem around the town or sleeping with hot women, Merida tries to entertain Astrid between combat sessions by offering to spar with her. Unfortunately, this does not usually end well for poor Merida, as even the most hardcore and badass of tieflings is prone to getting dumpstered by an 8-foot-tall barbarian orc with an axe. Astrid is, nonetheless, grateful to have someone to fight.
Rapunzel, Elsa, and Moana will humor Hiccup and attempt to actually play the main plot. Meanwhile, Jack, Merida, and Eugene are a DM’s worst nightmare. They constantly derail the damn campaign to fuck around, cause mayhem, and do inane shenanigans in every. Damn. Town. They go to. Anna is kind of a wildcard–she’ll typically go with whatever group looks like they’re going to be doing something more interesting. Astrid will go along with whichever group is more likely to get into a fight–which, often as not, is Jack and his posse of terrible Chaotic Neutrals (who have definitely pissed off a number of NPCs into attacking them).
As the campaign goes on, Elsa and Eugene become the beleaguered Party Mom and Dad. Both are quite aggravated by this–especially poor Eugene, who just wanted to play a morally-gray charming rogue who stole everything and got away with it and then accidentally ended up caring about these idiots he got stuck with.
Anna initially joins the campaign because she has a planet-size crush on Hiccup, and inevitably is the one who dragged Elsa into it too. Being the hopeless romantic that she is, Anna writes a love interest into her backstory. Hiccup eventually has the party run into said love interest, and Anna is overjoyed. He starts flirting with her as the love interest, and it’s easily the best 30 minutes of Anna’s life.
Moana and Elsa also give Hiccup pretty detailed backstories, and he works in little subplots for them. Moana gets to bring water back to a dying part of the jungle in the middle of a draught, while Elsa gets to go on a whole sidequest to explore her family history and how they came to be sorcerers.
Jack, Merida, and Eugene also give Hiccup fairly elaborate backstories, but Jack’s and Merida’s are like 99% memes and Dumb Shit. Hiccup tries to give all of them backstory-related plot hooks, but inevitably any hooks he provides are either stabbed, robbed, or frozen. Honestly any plot hook offered to these 3 will be all but spat in the face of and tossed off a cliff.
The one relevant part of Eugene’s backstory is that he and Rapunzel decide they used to be partners in crime before the campaign started. Rapunzel would infiltrate and scout out places he wanted to rob as small, unobtrusive animals (her preferred Wild Shape is a chameleon) and later distract the guards as a bunny or kitten while he went in and took every gold coin in sight. In return, Flynn Rider would bribe builders to not develop into Sunlily’s forest. Rapunzel and Eugene partly came up with this For Funsies, but also it was Rapunzel’s sneaky way of tricking Eugene into having prior connections in the party so he’d be less likely to betray them. It works pretty well–although the entire party is protective of Cinnamon Roll Sunlily, Flynn is certainly especially protective of her.
Astrid does the absolute bare minimum as far as backstories go. She is literally just here to smash stuff, slice people, and beat some fuckers up.
Rapunzel has a backstory, but she’s typically so invested in the main plot and the other party members that Hiccup rarely needs to bring it in to keep her engaged. She’s highkey the party emotional rock, and probably the only one keeping them all together.
On that note, Rapunzel’s character is the ONLY one who can get Jack’s character to take the plot even REMOTELY seriously. Like he’ll be dicking around in the nearest tavern challenging the nearest orc to a drinking game, and Rapunzel will come in and ask him to help them on a Main Plot Quest. And he’ll be like “come onnnnn I’m having funnn” and she’ll be like “Jack pleeeeeease?” and you just. Can’t resist Sunlily’s puppy dog eyes. At all. Also, whenever Sunlily is genuinely threatened, any silliness immediately goes out the window and Jack Frost is OUT FOR BLOOD.
For better or for worse, Rapunzel is not immune to being looped into Jack’s shenanigans. Occasionally if either Merida or Eugene have a particularly hare-brained scheme she’ll go along with it, but by and large Jack is the most successful in convincing her to temporarily abandon the plot and cause mild mischief with him. They once wasted half a session creating an elaborate “ice theme park” for some squirrels in the forest.
Hiccup tries to get Merida to play the main plot by eventually having there be no more sexy female NPCs to seduce in the towns they go to. Unfortunately, this backfires–Merida just hooks up with Moana’s character instead. When asked to roll for how good the lay is, Merida gets a nat 20–and thus her character and Moana’s character end up hooking up regularly throughout the rest of the campaign.
Hiccup introduces a few Wise Old Mentor-type NPCs to guide the party throughout the campaign. While Rapunzel, Elsa, Moana, and Anna actually try to listen to them and take their advice, Merida, Jack, and Eugene absolutely refuse to take them seriously and mercilessly play pranks on them.
At one point, Hiccup gives the party the option to attempt to tame a group of wild dragons and use them as mounts. They all have to make animal handling checks. Anna, Rapunzel, Elsa, and Moana pass. The rest of the party fails, with Jack and Eugene crit-failing. Hilarity ensues.
Hiccup ends up bringing back Anna’s backstory love interest as an NPC regular. Anna thinks he’s just being a good friend and a good DM and trying to incorporate her backstory as much as he can, but really, he just wants an excuse to regularly flirt with her. He hardly has the balls to out-of-game.
Merida comes out as gay toward the end of the campaign. Everyone in the group is extremely supportive, of course, but everyone is also like “Merida…with the amount of barmaids you’ve banged…and the amount of times you and Moana’s character hooked up…this isn’t exactly surprising.”
Hiccup actually finds a way to use Jack and Elsa’s same-concept-opposite-execution characters to the plot’s advantage. He decides one of the main villains will have a prophecy saying he’ll be taken down by a powerful ice mage. The party manages to fool this guy into thinking this ice mage is Jack, and sends Jack to fight him. As soon as the villain sees Jack, he’s like “WHAT??? THIS clown???” (word has absolutely spread throughout the land of Jack not using his ice powers for anything besides mildly annoying trolling). Naturally, the bad guy lets his guard down after thinking he’s going to fight this literal joke, and then Elsa crashes in from the side and absolutely dumpsters him.
Jack tries to defeat the final boss by just annoying him so much that he leaves. Unfortunately, he just annoys him so much that he attacks Rapunzel’s character. Jack’s just like “oh HELL no” and attacks with absolutely nothing held back. Turns out he’s pretty terrifying when he’s not using his magic for Dumb Antics.
During the final boss of the campaign, the Big Bad tries to one-shot Moana’s character, and Merida’s character super theatrically jumps in front of her to take the blow instead. Rapunzel just barely manages to heal Merida’s character, but it’s a really close call. During all this, Merida is like “ah shit...maybe I’m NOT just in this to get fantasy-laid.” After the fight’s over, her and Moana’s characters have a big dramatic love confession and share a Big Damn Kiss in front of everyone. It’s pretty epic.
After the final session of the campaign, Merida drags Moana outside Jack’s apartment and sputters and trips over her words for a solid minute before she finally gets out that through all this nonsense...well...maybe it’s not just in the game that she thinks Moana is hot. Moana just gets this HUGE grin on her face and says “c’mere, Leeroy Jenkins” and just pulls Merida in and kisses her. Cue the rest of the party barging in on them. Merida and Moana freeze, and there’s a moment of terrified silence...and then the entire party starts cheering them on like “took you long enough!”
The entire rest of the party could detect the sexual tension. Literally all of them.
But Eugene is like “HA, THIS MEANS IF WE DO A SEQUEL CAMPAIGN I’M WINNING THAT BET! BECAUSE YOU’RE GONNA BE DATING MO’S CHAR AND THUS NOT ABLE TO SLEEP WITH ANY MORE BARMAIDS!”
By the epilogue session, Jack and Rapunzel are dating. Merida and Moana are also dating. Hiccup and Anna STILL haven’t figured out why they’re so prone to spending half the session flirting when Anna’s love interest shows up, and Hiccup STILL hasn’t figured out why he likes to have Anna’s love interest show up so often. Bless their souls. Maybe they’ll figure it out next campaign...?
Damn I actually really like this...maybe if people like it I’ll do some incorrect quotes or a drabble or something??? Or maybe some HCs from next campaign???

omg second surprise dnd mutual this week 👀👀 tell me about ur characters plssss
Okay, so I have several I've played and I like a lot so I'm gunna put this under a read more
my first dnd character was for 3.5e, and his name was Deklan and he was a half-elf ranger who honestly did not want to be an adventurer, but who dreamed of being a carpenter. He was very good at shoot and talk, and had a very tired, over-all-of-this personality when not rolling charisma and spent a lot of time carving ducks.
Next was was Mehlz, a bronze Dragonborn cleric for 5e. She was neutral good, believed in helping and healing those in need, was naive and kind of gullible as she was raised in a Temple of Bahamut as an orphan and oh God I have so much character work for her and so much worldbuilding for the insular Dragonborn nation she came from that I actually am going to re-use it somehow. Anyways, she was very good at hit thing with hammer and shoot lightning and the only character figurine i ever made off roll20 like 6 years ago
Tumblr media
i love her so much. My favorite thing about her gamewise is that she had the Tavern Brawler feat and used that liberally to proficiently throw her best friend and fellow party member as an improvised weapon. Said bff was a sentient red panda who was also a monk.
There was Virga for a modified Curse of Strahd campaign that took place in the real world so we were forced to be human. He was a terrible French Catholic priest who was extra as hell, a warlock for the Raven Queen, sarcastic and mean, and his preferred mode of fighting was smacking people with his silver tipped cane. He became a wereraven, had a Charisma score 22, and was the cause of one party member dying due to a critical failure which I felt SO BAD FOR. I genuinely liked playing as the Bird Man and his bitchy attitude and his ending was finally getting a date with the other wereraven dude he got cockblocked from flirting with twice previously.
Right now, we have Isaria, another half-elf and they are a circle of spores druid. They are very quiet, shy, have rather poor people skills (which is a first for me to make Charisma a dumb stat), and are often very blunt when talking to someone and in their actions. Their goal is to find a way to prolong life using necromancy after the traumatic death of most of their home village due to a famine and often slips away from the party to experiment with various poisons and potions and undead. They are honestly a druid for all the wrong reasons and I'm digging them so far. They are also the shortest character I’ve ever made.
Special mention to my Star Wars ttrpg character who was my all time favorite and a character I want to reuse elsewhere. Dekle' was a cyborg Zabrak space pirate with a Southern accent, a giant metal phrik-coated arm, and a penchant for robots and punching things really really good. In session three, she took a grenade to the face from a guy running into her on a speeder, in which her response was to punch the guy off the speeder, eat the explosion like a champ, and then steal the vehicle. She was a brick shithouse who dished out bullshit damage because it turns out the Star Wars ttrpg just has a lot of perks specifically for hand to hand combat and why the fuck would I be a jedi when I could be a walking tank? Her and her ward (a fellow party member and a force sensitive Twi'lek teenager who used force lightning and a wrist rocket) were the cause of many DM headaches for the dumb shit we did, up to and including jumping onto a TIE-fighter and punching in the windshield to pull the pilot out, nuking a room of stormtroopers, and beating in Darth Vader's face.
My favorite exchange EVER was when the game was starting out, and the jedi who joined up with Dekle' and her ward Ro'ena had noticed that Ro was force sensitive and used force lightning untrained. So she pulls Dekle' aside and asks point blank if Dekle' had ever notice anything off about Ro in the seven or so years she's been raising the Twi'lek. To which Dekle' responded 'who? the living taser?' before looking over at Ro for a second or two and then shrugging and continuing 'no, I ain't noticed nothing weird about her. why?' Just a defining moment for one dumbass butch space pirate.
And also special mention to a character I only played in three sessions of a Fallout game a friend was testing out. His name was Anders, he was a ghoul, and he was a lucky charismatic crackshot who broke the game so bad, I was jokingly banned from further playtests after he oneshot a dude in power armor with his shitty revolver. He's an OC I still think about because he's a trashfire, just an absolute garbage boy, no redeeming qualities, would sell you for one corn chip, 10/10 I love him very much.

Eva Rainsong.
Eva Rainsong, independent OC based on the popular TTRPG Dungeons and Dragons. Reworked Quickling race into to something I enjoy more. Disclaimers: 1. If it isn’t completely compliant to 5e as I do rework classes or other things, don’t be surprised I suppose. I homebrew a lot of stuff for my group that we all use in a high fantasy setting, along with using griffinsaddle bag items. It will be highly 5e-esque because I’ve recently converted to the handbook for the sake of teaching people I play with the game much easier. So expect more of a mix of quarter 3.5 and then mostly 5e, along with the flavor of powers inspired off how the guide encourages spells to be done such as magic missiles being chickens instead as a spell, but translated to fighter powers as well or fae related things. As she will have artifacts and of the like depending on her level, so expect the more powerful of her items listed to be the farther level she is. I will try to keep things mostly to canon or close to canon/official sources in that regards, but beware if things look odd, it’s mostly from a homebrew ruling that I’ve decided with my friends on how we do DnD 5e to keep it rewarding but also deadly still.
2. I will do this character in tiers which will be kinda meta but if you plan on doing anything to her against her to hurt her or oppose her, it’s kinda needed. Along with making her a more flexible character. They will be labeled lvl 5, lvl 10. lvl 15. lvl 20 or ‘epic lvl’ which goes beyond lvl 20. This would be if you want her to be able to fight major gods without getting trashed or at least have a chance, though minor gods, arch fiends, or even gods can be doable in a group/specific questline or plotline we make together or even solo vs Eva if you want that to be a thing as a lvl 20 character could be considered a demigod/god in terms of scaling of that point. Major Gods like Tiamat levels and so forth would need a group however. If you need more details on power scaling to your specific universe and what she’d be at in terms of each level scaling. Then feel free to DM me and ask me if you plan on doing some kind of adventure or fight with her.
3. Tag ‘eva being nasty’ as Eva being a demented evil fae, bc I will have cursed humor that I would never actually be into rping for smut or want to pursue. She mostly does this kind of stuff to say or make people go ‘wtf’, but it will include mostly censors and implications of ‘guro’ or ‘gorefucking her dick’ etc. Traditional Fae for how I do things are pretty fucked up, if anything, the things I say or have her do will be pretty tame compared to that, but a warning is still needed.
4. Eva Rainsong will have multiple timeline iterations mostly for the sake of her either permanently dying to your character, or interacting with them before or after meeting your character with their main timeline. Main timeline Eva I will not be killing as in DnD, the multiverse is canon along with countless iterations and taking inspiration that there are countless DnD worlds that have been made.
5. I will be giving a much more descriptive bios than normal so bare with me. Expect her to have full Quickling racials, but I fully expect other characters of even ‘mechanically’ weaker races than a Quickling to keep up with her if they’re on the same scaling for the rp. Mechanical enemies and mechanics does not = lore strength.
Species Faceclaim below: most Quicklings, including mine look similar to the picture below, usually blue-skinned, long thick ears, long hair, yellow-eyes, slit pupils. Clawed hands, clawed feet. Then are around 4′0 to 5′1 at max.
Tumblr media
My specific Quickling faceclaim:
Tumblr media
Do I want them to die: They can very much lose or even die as they will return to the fae realm upon death, even if a creature is capable of soul-stealing and of the line due to how fae work similar to other extra-planar creatures. Then even dying in the fae realm to die permanently is fine, but that won’t be considered main timeline Eva. You could even have that person meet main timeline Eva if you want, but we’ll discuss how it plays out. As I won’t be killing main timeline Eva and any alternate timeline will just be called ‘au’. Will I have/get icons: I have around 260 or so. Tag: (maintag), flash of blue. (lvl tags) lvl 5, lvl 10, lvl 15, lvl 20, epic lvl. Age: Centuries to Eons based on her lvl. She is an adult in every verse/stage of development. Sex: AMAB Gender: She would be considered a trans woman in other  cultures, but as a fae, she is merely considered a woman among her kind  as she’s not human and fem identifying primarily, though is fine with she/him as well. As for other identifications,  she is very much fine with (after asking me ooc) with terms that vary  but not limited to: Male Wife, Girl Husband and so on. Her relation to  gender is much less humanized along with viewpoints. Race: Quickling. Sexuality: A hole’s a hole. Personality traits: Greedy. Likes rain and water. Likes to chew on bones, people, flesh. Tends to weed out and goes for weaknesses out of her own glee. Extremely Brutal. A Glutton. Selfish. Wrathful. Sadistic, Masochistic. Pretty horny at times, but it depends who it is and only if the mun in question is fine with it/requests it. Can be kind of stalkerish at times when looking for entertainment to play pranks or to eat someone. She is a bitch, grumpy, prone to more outbursts. Eats people pretty indiscriminately, doesn’t matter who they are. If she doesn’t like them, she will probably kill them or eat their ankles and just stalk them over time to kill them. Quicklings are extremely spiteful and vengeful if spited enough. Likes to steal, likes to play tricks. Likes to mess with people using her Quickling invisibility and supernatural speed. Can be sweet if you manage to gain her affections or listen to you. Hyper. Hates a lot of people depending on the usually benign reason. Slightly tsundere. Has a bit of humor in a spiteful or playful way. Stabby. Bitey. Likes to be spoiled. If she likes you, she will force herself into your lap to sit. Destructive. Doesn’t think of the consequences a lot. Can be fun. Can go too far even with her loved ones sometimes. Reckless. Tends to self-sabotage her own relationships on accident at times with her alien perception if friends with non-fae. Can be surprisingly loyal to the point of self-destruction though this is rare with most individuals, as they need to really earn it with her. Can be pretty cursed at times if she just wants to fuck with you or make you uncomfortable/weirded out by her. Feral. Can be extremely manipulative, tricky or unpredictable if she doesn’t like you, she may even pretend to be your friend to later betray you potentially if you piss her off unknowingly enough. (I’ll handle her based on peoples’ comforts and such of course, but yeah) Mental traits: Has an alien mindset and viewpoint to certain topics and things. Physical traits: 4′3. Yellow eyes, black slits. Black hair with blue glowing ends that goes down to only her waist. Thick-bodied, has a fairly decent breast-size. Thick, long ears that twitch or even change direction in her mood, they tend to flick back when fighting. Has two rows of sharp, retractable teeth. Has maws of teeth in her throat that are retractable and she can chew with it independently of her mouth. Has a tongue that is quadruple her height that has retractable spikes, this is used when scooping out the organs of people she leads into a false-sense of security. It is akin to an ant eater but biting a hole in someone and using supernatural speed to quickly scoop out their organs or flesh.  Retractable claws on her hands and feet. Tends to meep akin to a chinchilla making a noise when being affectionate toward people she genuinely likes. May spit or chirp akin to a chinchilla as well as a warning to not be touched with people she likes, as people she dislikes will immediately be missing a hand.
Powers: statline and skills, racial powers, items, then classes and feats. Keep in mind that this is scaled down significantly the lower lvl she is for her tagline. This is to give a good idea of what she’s capable of and to be able to scale her down.
Statline:
HP: 240ish at max level or in epic levels. (Average for Fighters is around 170 to 240ish, especially if toughness is taken)
Strength: 20, Belt of the Storm Giant (29 strength) when wearing it at higher lvls.
Dexterity: 16.
Constitution 20.
Intelligence 14.
Wisdom 10.
Charisma 8.
Skills:
Athletics. Acrobatics. Survival. Perception. (Fighter Class and Background)
Intimidation. (Barbarian multiclass)
Saving Throws:
Strength.
Constitution.
Intelligence (Resilience Feat)
Movement:
110 ft in six seconds or 220 if dashing. (That’s the standard combat time it takes each round.
Languages:
Common, Infernal, Aklo, Sylvan.
Racial Powers:
Standard Stats:
Despite being a Quickling, as while her intelligence is fairly good and dexterity is as well, her recklessness and unusually clumsy dexterity for Quickling standards leaves her a bit standoutish from the rest. Along with her supernatural strength and endurance that she’s honed instead to compensate. Though she is able to to somewhat overcome this further down her life at least for being clumsy to a more acceptable level after training with a few magical manuals.
Quickling Cunning, she is able to burst twice her speed in a dash to get closer, run away or can hide fairly easily.
Attacks are extremely hard to hit her as she zips and blips seemingly out of existence from her blinding speed. And then is able to go invisible if standing still. Think the DC’s ‘Flash’ almost.
Her fae ancestry allows her weapons to be magical to overcome resistance or immunities that targets may have.
She is immune to fire and able to move through fire and lava due to this.
As a fae, they trance as part of their sleep, such as elves who have a direct ancestry link to this. Resistance to being charmed and immune to sleep magic.
Dark vision of 60 ft. She can see in shades of grey and white in absolute darkness.
Fae-Born: on death, she returns to the plane of the Fae rather than being killed outright, akin to a devil or fiend, as the same rules canonically apply to the fae. She must be killed on the plane of the Fae to completely die. Her items as with demons, also go with her unless she drops them/their snatched out of her hands or removed from her somehow.
Innate Spellcasting:
at will, dancing lights, fire bolt, minor illusion.
Three times per day, burning hands as a spell.
One time a day for each, levitate, shatter as a spell.
Items: (Keep in mind the more insane things such as the ‘Belt of Storm Giant Strength’ or anything like that in terms of legendary rarity is kept to lvl 15 and above.
Main Equipment: For her armor, it is either none before lvl 10 or Mithril Full-Plate, because it is near weightless and more befitting of a Quickling as they tend to like things that don’t weigh much or wear nothing at all in terms of armor. A magic +3 shortsword with a radiant enchantment on it to deal with fiends and demons. A magic +3 shortword with a necrotic enchantment on it to deal with living beings and celestials. Then a magic +3 greatsword of dragonslaying as a situational weapon. A few magic daggers of returning for utility. (They return on throwing them). A few backup shortswords that are +1 and +2. A bag of holding. A backpack. Trapper’s tools. Butcher’s Kit. Mess Kit. Rations.
Minor Magic Equipment: A ring of enlargement, mostly to be able to wield two-handed weapons due to their short stature and build as while even strong, it is an unbalanced wielding when small-sized. And also to be able to carry, push, lift or grab to make use of her full strength or the strength of the giant’s belt with a better size. Though it does not effect the weight of her blows otherwise due to supernatural, trained strength. A ring of slowfall, as to avoid being killed through great heights or teleportation. Potions of flying if dealing with flying enemies, mostly for utility. A few potions of supreme healing, only three or four at the most. Then quite a few superior healing potions, around six to eight. Rope of Climbing.
Major Artifacts that require attunement: Belt of the Storm Giant’s Strength. A Mantle of Spell Resistance. (Both self-explanatory) Then a Blood Fury Tattoo. It has ten charges per day, it allows the user to inflict great necrotic harm on top of any of their attacks and healing from that specific necrotic damage, along with giving lightning-esque reflexes to deliver blows back as a reaction. Amulet of the Planes (This item is usually unattuned unless she dies, as her goal is to leave the fae realm as soon as possible). Magical List of Grudges: this magical list of grudges is seemingly near endless that reign from benign to the most twisted, sadistic, or even insane plots of revenge wants toward them. It seems to unfold near endlessly from the Eons of use... some even with plots to go into planes of existence for certain afterlifes.
Classes and Feats: this segment will be starting with barbarian since it is shorter, then fighter as that’s the most of where levels are going into.
Barbarian (2 levels put into after 1 into fighter, no subclass):
Fae’s Spiteful Rage: she gains immense resistance as her flesh hardens from her anger and spite. Slashing, bludgeoning and piercing physical attacks nearly bounce off her body when tapping into her rage.
Reckless Brutality: her attacks almost always hit in a flash of the flurry she does. They leave her hardened, supernatural body much more open to attack however, not that it bothers her much.
Supernatural Reflex: as part of being a Quickling, her supernatural reflex allows her to dodge out of the way of traps and spells much easier than most. However her senses in this regard can be interrupted when being blinded, deafened or incapacitated.
Fighter (17 levels put into after 2 levels of barbarian and 1 starting fighter level, subclass is my reworked Champion to be more Nemesis and Signature Fighting Style based):
Adrenaline Rush: her intensive training has allowed her to attack three times as quickly by tapping into her supernatural adrenaline for six seconds. This is only twice as quickly if below lvl 20. She needs a short break afterward in order to be able perform this legendary flurry of intense, deadly strikes.
Fae Endurance: tapping into her fae spirit, she may heal herself supernaturally slightly once per day.
Secondary Fighting Style: mariner, with intense training, Eva has adapted her honed athletics to be able to use supernatural speed with climbing and swimming, along with gaining an adaptive movement defense. She is only capable of using this with mithril armor or inferior forms of light armor, as it cannot be used with heavy, clunky armor.
Graceful Brutality: Eva’s strikes as a Quickling combined with her honed brutality and strength could be considered a new fighting style in itself, creating a deadly series of attacks using supernatural speed, deadly precision and accuracy, giving the ability to strike several times a second. She combines this brutal, precise fighting style with her ability to dual-wield masterfully to fully abuse its effects on any unfortunate victims of hers.
Fae Resilience: her innate resilience as a fae has been honed to a level not thought possible for someone so small when combined with her intensive constitution training. She can often shake off even the most devastating effects or attacks, but there is a limit of so many times per every eight hours that a body can physically handle.
Subclass Champion Variant:
Fueled by Spite: Eva’s critical deadliness is defined by her spite, utilizing the inner supernatural spirit and nature of her kind to a terrifying effect. Her attacks are much more pinpointed to weak-points she picks out when in combat or from stalking her opponents or repeatedly attempting to kill them... or those around them to get to them. This power seems bizarre in nature in functionality, as even foes trying to kill her don’t seem effected by this unless she herself develops a grudge toward them. Though it may at best be a temporary heat of the moment use of this Spite-Based power in combat as an imperfect grudge to gain access to these seeming supernatural fighting skills. It cannot compare to any poor soul that she develops a grudge toward for her own reasons... or twisted affections toward them.
Remarkable Grudge: Eva’s ability to perform skills against her enemies are remarkable in determination to see them miserable.
Signature Style: master of Dual-Wielding, being a master of ambidexterity and with intense training? Eva is able to near supernaturally strike several times more with her offhand compared to the average dual-wielder in a short amount of time, even when compared to her own kind.
Honed Spite: she’s somehow learned to wield this innate magical nature of Quicklings as a deadly weapon. Her strikes tend to be instinctively guided toward the weakpoints of other creatures to inflict as much pain or suffering as possible if she has a grudge toward them.
Reigning Contender: Eva is able to tap into her supernatural nature to have a mock form of troll-like regeneration so long as she’s not critically injured... then gains the ability to move toward her grudge-aligned target with a speed not thought possible of even a Quickling.
Trained Feats and Stats:
Trained Strength and Constitution: instead of dexterity, most of her training or magical manuals went into being intense strength and endurance training early on in her Fighter Career, or the use of magical manuals to become a supernatural fighter.
Trained Toughness: through near self-inflicted torture in the form of endurance training from taking repeated blows to every part of her body? She can endure an extreme amount of punishment comparable to even the bigger, magical races can endure as a fighter comparable to her caliber.
Dual Wielding Training: she may dual wield most weapons even if she prefers dual shortswords due to their grace and ease for critical strikes. She did this mostly to become better at dual wielding to develop her signature style, along with having an offensive defense. Then with being able to effectively draw her weapons in a blink of an eye when stowed away, mostly to seem unarmed at first if any aggressors get any wise ideas.
Combat Mobility Training: supernatural speed requires training to use in effective group combat, along with dodging or moving in a way before targets can effectively attack her or be aware she’s moved out of the way. This training has left her a little bit faster than normal, but only slightly.
Mind Training: to first grasp the spite within herself, Eva honed her mind into that of a steel cage to properly process, analyze and utilize her spite deep within her mind to control her subconscious hatred.
Motivations: she’s mostly a mercenary, but kinda just fucks around metaphorically or literally. Just doing this for fun as a kind of thing as a chaotic evil character, as she can be with ‘good-aligned’ party members but she’s more or less the party’s bastard rather than against the party as their bastard. She has no real tragedy in her life other than her many petty grievance list of people she’s listed over the centuries and plans to either make them pay in the living world or whatever afterlife they had either through moderately harmless pranks, or extreme as death, torture or w/e is fitting for the grievance to her own twisted perception as a more evil leaning fae. Something trying to not be ridiculous in terms of edginess but overall something fun or funny as a concept, though pretty evil as well. She tends to be much more respectful toward non-mortal races or on the mortal plane, though is still playful and annoying. Backstory: Born as of one of the fae and a Quickling, Eva’s nature left her chaotic, but not exactly evil to start with in terms of alignment energy. While living a mostly good life when experiencing growth as a fae in her home realm, she yearned for travel and exploration but more importantly... more victims to play her pranks on or to prey on. It is with her love of pranks sometimes turning into fighting with others and then brutalizing her victims did she fully shift her alignment energy toward ‘evil’. Now she mostly is a mercenary, an adopted ‘fae’ into an organized group that can be reasoned or convinced with a proper moral compass for a time, or even develop friendship or of the like. Though her nature always remains the same as some of the more chaotic evil leaning Quicklings are, just with the ability form attachments and deep loyalties... though isn’t above lovingly tormenting her close friends or loved ones.

Just a little update on Cassandratopia 2: Electric Boogaloo (Or as it stands in my Google Docs folder rn, A Helping Hand). I’ll put it under the cut cuz it’s kinda long.
I just wanted to say that I’m still planning on actually doing it, despite all evidence to the contrary lol
I did Cassandratopia in a haze of graduating from college(where I was studying animation) and just having ended my first dnd campaign as a dungeon master (which went 3 years!). I was fishing around for internships, but since the pandemic had just kicked off I wasn’t having much luck. So I had a lot of creative energy that wasn’t getting channeled anywhere, and a lot of free time when I wasn’t applying to places. Which is how I did 4 pages a day several times per week. Which was insane.
As it stands, I’m running 2 dnd campaigns(one meets weekly, the other every other week or so), and just scored a full-time internship at a video game company! The campaigns I’m running are a homebrew open world, which, for those of you who aren’t too familiar with dnd, is a metric fuckton of work to prep for each session because I have no idea what my insane friends and siblings are going to try and do every time we play.
Anyways all this to say that my storytelling itch is kinda. Sufficiently getting scratched atm and I have a lot less free time. I’m still plucking away at the setting/refining the story of A Helping Hand, but it’s largely on the backburner. Cassandratopia was also, uh, like the first story I’ve ever told in any sort of format besides the give-and-take of dnd, so... I’m not used to having so much control over the narrative. Oddly. I’ve never thought of myself as much of a writer of stories; my main focus is character animation, so someone else is usually writing the stories I’m telling anyways, which is super cool with me. Honestly I’m surprising myself with how much I want to tell this story, which is why I’m still sure I’m doing it. Just. Slower. Than Cassandratopia got done.
But I’ll share a bit of the lore I’ve been cooking up! Specifically about Zhan Tiri and The Drops. The story will be told in an extremely dnd type setting, because that’s the kind of narrative I’ve told before and am comfortable telling: hard magic rules, neat fights, scary monsters, a dash of eldritch horror, and huge emphasis being put on magical artifacts(kinda like in the show!). Here’s some stuff that’s basically locked-in.
Zhan Tiri
Zhan Tiri is one of the many Demon Lords of the Abyss. She’s kind of a mashup of two of my favorite Demon Lords, Zuggtmoy, the Lady of Rot and Decay, and Pale Night, the Mother of Demons and Queen of the Night(with just a dash of Hannibal Lecter because who doesn’t like helpful, polite, manipulative-ass bitches lksjflkja;fj). Her domain sits almost exactly between the Sundrop and Moonstone, largely being the new growth that comes from death, and the endless cycle of life and death. Places where her influence is strongest includes the cracks in... Well anywhere really, from society to the planet’s shell, where metaphorical or physical rot could grow; musty, mostly ignored places where something could fester. Iconography related to her would include endless mazes, fungi, grasping skeletal hands, and rotting/blooming corpses. Her spores can animate corpses, which she likes to use as mindless minions when she doesn’t feel like sending one of her Acolytes. She shares a scrap of her power with those few mortals she likes. She appreciates ambition and the desire to Grow to be bigger than what you were to start with, as those are qualities she herself possesses.
Incredibly intelligent and merciless to those she deems her enemies, her main thing is pulling the strings from the shadows and seeing just how far she can push people to act with as little prompting from her as possible. She does, however, have the power to kinda bulldoze her way through things if she needs to, but she doesn’t like to because where’s the fun in that?
She first gained interest in the Material Plane when a Wizard with too much hubris from said Material Plane(Named Demanitus) contacted her trying to figure out more information about The Drops and how to control them. After indulging him for a bit, she started preparing to make a summer home on the Material Plane because it’s New and Fun here and Wow These Mortals are Really Fun to Mess With! And some of them she even genuinely liked! Demanitus then realized his mistake and locked her away in Pandemonium for what he hoped was forever, but turned out to be only around 1,000 years, due to the efforts of her followers. Her little stint in Pandemonium magnified the more... Chaotic aspects of her personality, so now she wants to cover the Material Plane in blooming mazes of fungal crops that she can break people with at her leisure.
The Drops
The drops are two semi-sentient pieces of one original artifact, whose original purpose was to be a tool of creation for the gods. Which, through some great calamity(still deciding that one), got sundered and settled into the two basic aspects of creation: the nearly unlimited well of life-energy which organizes stardust into planets, cabbages, and kings, and the “you gotta crack a few eggs to get an omlette” destructive force which breaks down what the sundrop makes so that it can make more.
The main goal of the drops is to reunite. I would want to as well if I was ripped in half! This manifests as a... General tug in the direction of the other drop. A desire in the host to Go That Way. It can be resisted, and even ignored for a bit, but it’s always there. Like being hungry if starving wasn’t a danger. Just a bit uncomfortable if you aren’t going That Way, but ignorable.
Both drops generally try to be as helpful to their wielder as possible, as originally they were a tool of creation to the gods. They are innately obliging. They’re also REALLY UNSAFE FOR MORTALS TO BE MESSING WITH. The Sundrop is a little safer because the most it can do is kinda. Overcharge you into something distinctly not human but still alive, and King Fredrick was lucky he made the Sundrop into soup before giving it to Arianna. But King Edmund got his wholeass arm blasted off for touching the Moonstone.
The Sundrop
Best I could whittle it down, the Sundrop has power over life energy, like the sun’s light. It also has power over the energy derived from geothermal activities, so deep sea creatures Are Not Immune To The Sundrop, which was a funny thought that crossed my mind that they could be, but that will likely never come up anyways salkdjf;ljsf It is, in its basest form, Growth and Progress.
It’s a little sentient, but very much entrenches itself into whoever is holding it at the time. Like another mind looking through your eyes and seeing what you see/feeling what you feel while still retaining a bit of individuality from the host. It’s not... Parasitic because it’s in its nature to give, but it’s generally pretty firmly attached to whoever is holding it until they die( which isn’t usually for a WHILE. It ’infects’ a new host when one dies, usually a plant near their grave...) or until a solar eclipse. It wants what they want, but it’s very fussy so they have to ask it for power exactly correctly(like singing an incantation every time you want to heal someone, or doing a Ritual involving lots of very specific ingredients, Celestial Alignments, and Secret Words) or it won’t listen, like an orchid dying if the ph balance is off in the soil by a little bit. But it’s generally pretty intuitive to use, because it wants what you want and (as long as you ask right) is willing to help.
Anyways basically under the influence of the Sundrop you get a few things:
Basically limitless energy coursing through your body while you’re in a place with sunlight, which equates to rapid healing, mostly, because every cell in your body is being supercharged with free energy. Never getting exhausted in direct sunlight. (If Rapunzel lived in a place that was sunny 24/7 like near one of the poles she wouldn’t have to sleep like. until it started to get dark in the opposite half of the year. Then she’d have to sleep like a regular human being)
You stay at your prime, or if you are past it, revert to your prime. Someone who is holding the Sundrop, or who has regular access to the Sundrop’s magic can’t die of old age or illness. They have to be hurt beyond the Sundrop’s ability to heal or have it taken away from them.
The ability to share this rapid healing with others (if you ask right)
The ability to freely draw on the raw, near-limitless energy of the sun to shape into things like cool-looking energy blasts (only if you ask right)
The Moonstone
The moonstone has powers over varying levels of destruction: from destroying things by ripping them apart/ to Not Letting Things Be Destroyed(also known as protecting) by freezing them in indestructible rock. Like the moon, it can ‘reflect’ a bit of the sundrop’s power, so it can kinda provide energy, albeit a lot less than the sundrop can provide. It’s the inevitable march of The End of All Things, fertilizing the fields of time with the ashes of the old so the new can take root.
The Moonstone is a bit more in the dark(pun intended hehe) when it comes to bonding with someone, it can only try to figure out what is going on based off the emotions of its wielder, and through anything directly touching the Black Rocks. Because of this it’s... Kinda dumb? It tries to do things to help(Like shooting red fear-rocks to try and scare away whatever must be scaring its wielder so badly) but often fails spectacularly at helping.
Under the influence of the Moonstone you get:
Mortals get Neat Body Armor that’s actually just you being turned into a rock! They are very fragile! They need to be protected! The best the Moonstone can do to try and preserve you is to Stop All Destruction by.. Pausing all bodily functions indefinitely. Rocks don’t need to eat, sleep, or breathe, and almost nothing can destroy you if you’re solid Black Rock. The weak reflection of the Sundrop’s energy keeps the host animated, but they’re not exactly alive anymore. Like cryostasis. Wounds (if any) acquired in this state won’t be a problem because they’re not messing anything up, because nothing is technically working in the first place, but they will be a problem when you’re not protected in this way anymore. It’s a cosmic ‘I’ll deal with that later’ button, essentially.
Like the moon, the Moonstone can reflect the light of the sun. It uses its rock crystals to do so, which can even split the sun’s power into different shades, like a prism. Essentially, different colored rocks can mean new and exciting power sets.
Blue Lightning! The Moonstone can reflect the Sundrop’s power, so it also has access to pure bursts of energy, even if it is weaker and colder.
The Moonstone is very helpful, but usually has no idea what you want. ‘Asking’ the Moonstone for more control over its power in the same way you would Ask the Sundrop for more power reminds it of the perfect bond it used to share. The Moonstone’s incantation deepens the bond between wielder and Moonstone in such a way that it actually knows what you want from it, giving you near perfect control of its powers.
*This is kind of just a side note of the Drops: While the Moonstone is weaker than the Sundrop in an head-on fight, it could hold its own if it were on the defensive. Redirecting the power instead of trying to overpower and such.
** Cass made of rocks means I get to draw her skeleton :) not in every picture that would be fucking nuts and way too much work alskjdf;lkjs;fv

more DnD things because my players are still sorting out characters, so I’ve had time to mess with some more ideas... which has expanded into an entire plotline they’ll get to discover over time.
Seriously, some of this will not be coming up for ages, like we’re focusing on the city for a good while before going out into the wider world, but I’ve already got a bunch of ideas.
so my murderous gnome (who started out as a joke about video game shopkeepers who became hostile if you stole from them) has now spawned an entire future storyline for my players to engage with.
One of my first thoughts was ‘what if I throw a Tall Vampire Lady villain at them for funsies lmao’ which became ‘wait what if she was a pursuit villain that they have to evade while trying to solve puzzles’ and then became ‘what if she’s like my murder gnome in that her mansion is a mysterious deathloop puzzle, except it’s a little more sophisticated than the murder caves’ and also she’s gonna be a kind of vampire except she thrives on fear, so I need to come up with a fear system for that. Basically I’m giving them Discount Dimistrescu.
and THEN one of my players gave me their character’s entire backstory and permission to do whatever I want with their character’s family. So now I have plans for yet another deathloop session, except this time it’s the village where my Player comes from, and the guy in charge does it because he enjoys hunting for sport, whereas the gnome murders because he just enjoys murder and the Lady needs victims to feed on.
One of the Player’s kids has been murdered to place the spell on the village, and his other kid had his soul stripped from him after he discovered what had happened, so now that Player will get to chose if he restores his son, or lets his daughter return in the son’s body - unless they come up with an alternative that works, one child will be restored while the other become a restless spirit. And depending on how that Player acts during the session will determine whether or not their husband takes them back >:)
All three of my villains are all tied together, and my Lawful Evil Tiefling Bloodhunter (who I never got to play) will be a friendly NPC who’s helping the party in trying to figure out why this mysterious faction is creating these deathloop scenarios.
In a deathloop, Players who die will revive in a safe spot, so I still need to decide what the penalty for dying is. They lose anything they’ve picked up since they were last at a safe spot, which I think will be enough for them in the murder caves, and I’m thinking that dying will do something with the Fear system in the mansion, but I still need to decide with the Village as it’s meant to be the most sophisticated of the three so far... maybe something to do with the soul-binding aspect of the spell. This session is pretty far in the future, so the Players might be able to deal with more difficult consequences then...
I do know that if anyone is in the middle of reviving when the spell is broken, they’re fucked XD

i heard something about a lesbian undead cleric 👀
YOU HEARD RIGHT OKAY
uhh if you're a player in the direlight campaign do not read under the read more unless you're the dm in which case. ya know. hi josh
warning it accidentally got long and rambly Whoops
SOOOO okay my girl my undead lesbian where do weee begin
here's a picture I've just finished of her because I wanted to test out a solid line style and i went too far AND I JUST REALIZED I FORGOT TO SHADE THE GOLD ON HERRRRRR
Tumblr media
so her name is! Adr Irithyl! She's a Shadar-Kai (bodied) twilight cleric who worships the Raven Queen (who in the world is called Selyn). Before dying and her subsequent revival, Adr was one of many nuns who served to help souls pass on to Selyn, so that the Raven Queen could collect them and sort them. Adr specialized in children (which ALWAYS sounds weird), helping them with a soothing darkness that followed her wherever she walked. She would sit beside them, listening to children tell stories, letting them talk and talk until their lives would end, and she'd usher the spirits back. Specifically twilight, she used the dark as a blanket, blinding the children to what was to happen.
But, one of the children she was around ended up getting her ill. She was only ~150-200 when she passed, refusing to let the others heal her at risk of getting them sick. The only one she allowed was her closest "friend" among those in her specific order, telling her "I do not want my life to go to waste. Use my body as a sign that death is to be welcomed, and not feared, and that reversing it isn't the answer."
And then she died, peacefully, after an agonizing couple weeks of struggling with an illness foreign to her body. She's from the Shadowfell, she's not used to the Material Plane. She passed, and so too did 500 years. Empires rose and empires fell. People lived and she was remembered by her Sisters.
Until she wakes up, 500 years in the future, her body a stitched up, mangled mess, surrounded by corpses of other clerics like her, with no recollection of who she even was. She lays there for over a week, just... Noticing. "I should be starving by now. I should be dehydrated by now. Breathing hurts. I can't sleep."
When she finally moves, she just... Keeps seeing the bodies. Pieces of the bodies, sometimes just skin, sometimes their entire limbs. One of her arms was too long. One had a hand with only three fingers. The stitches on her body hurt, and she was covered with arcane markings she couldn't wash off. Memories would... Sometimes hit her, the strongest being this one woman flashing a smile and offering her...
She could never remember the word. it was warmed bread with some spread on it, but the specifics, she couldn't remember. It frustrated her. It frustrated her so much she went to destroy the entire ruins and kill herself.
When she found a note, on the altar where she had been. It was in a language she couldn't read. And... It called to her. As if it would be an answer to who did this. So, rather than kill herself and return to Selyn, she lead the nunnery, left her sisters, with the strange feeling that she wasn't entirely alone, that no matter where she went, bits of those ripped apart to form her would follow, everywhere she went.
Eventually, she found a town, where a person named Henris eventually befriended her, and she stopped her quest for revenge to work as a researcher in a school of Clerichood, which is where the party will meet her!
The Lesbianism:tm: will be something she realizes throughout the story, as she recalls memories of her "dear friend." They were very much in love, but their devotion and dedication (and Adr being... Scared of that aspect of her) meant that they never grew closer than friends. But without those obligations, without that... Goal? Adr doesn't feel that same "moral" obligation to remain celibate and pure and focused on her prayers. In fact, she can barely even remember the prayers she used to say, relying on an old prayer book found on a body of her sisters.
Originally, Adr had been a soft and kind woman who would give up everything to help others, but now? With the knowledge that, surely, in the eyes of her goddess she's an abomination (a theme among my elf clerics actually, undead clerics who think their gods see them as a monster that sends them hardships to get them killed), she doesn't care. She doesn't care about being soft and nice. She doesn't care about pacifism. She doesn't want to hurt people, but if she saw the man that brought her back and to get him, she'd have to kill one of her party members?
At the moment, I don't think I can say she'd wait.
She's not meant to be some overly grimdark, "oh boo-hoo" character, she literally talks like Miette the cat, regularly tries to eat food that she physically can't since she lacks a stomach, is going to be calling one of the characters "Sea salt" because they're a sea elf (granted they deserve it SMH Cancel Sea salt the Bloodhunter 2021 /j), but... She has that part of her. The fact that she never asked to be alive. The fact that she views death as a mercy. The fact that once her goal is complete, she will kill herself without any hesitation for fear of growing too attached to life.
and yeah im going to give her the comphet I struggled with for years because IT'S MY CHARACTER AND I CAN PROJECT THE STRUGGLES
but all the negative aside she does still adore kids and wears a raven mask (see above) to hide her face so that kids don't think she's scary, she'll give kids rides on her shoulders because she's over 7 feet tall, she'll sit with you all night if you have a bad dream (UNLESS YOU'RE SRIGRALT FUCK YOU SRIGRALT /J), she'll even grant you dark vision if you need it because even if the dark is peaceful to her, it isn't that way for everybody.
But, I haven't even played her yet! I'm switching out my genasi monk for her, and I'm. really excited. Adr is so much more interesting to me because while I made my genasi a really femme woman, I can do! So Much more with Adr! AND I just love playing cleric, like. Hitting inflict wounds on the final boss? MWAH that was a magical moment with my other cleric, and since we don't have dedicated support... I'm not complaining about pulling her out ;)
ANYWAYS thank you for asking me abt her Morgan i have thunked about her a lot, expect an ask abt your githzerai cleric soon because dnd characters are <3

RFA playing dnd
I’ve only personally played DnD a couple of times with my friends but I couldn’t help but imagine the RFA playing :p
Yoosung
Plays a simple human paladin
Forgets that he’s also meant to be supporting the party and charges into every situation
“There’s a cave-“
“I LIGHT UP MY SWORD-“
“......”
As a result, he keeps dying in the middle of battle, causing the rest of the party to have to constantly go out of their way to heal him
He gets very into roleplay, which came from his constant LOLOL sessions, but is terrible when it comes to any kind of seduction missions.
“She looks at you Yoosung with wide, flirtatious eyes~”
Nat 1 on composure, especially when MC is DMing
Zen
Doesn’t quite understand the appeal, but will play anyway because MC asked him too
Plays a high elf wizard
Because “the elves are the prettiest” and “the wizard is the magic class, right MC? With the spells?”
Unfortunelty, his inexperience + a level 1 wizard causes him to follow in Yoosung’s footsteps and die in almost every encounter.
“I cast.. um.. fireball?”
“Roll.”
“....a 2?”
MC be kind to him
He usually doesn’t roleplay much, but when it comes to the seducing missions?
This is the boy for you. Natural 20 charm right there.
He gets SO into it
Jaehee
She understands the game even less than Zen does
Yoosung made her character for her, a half-elf cleric because she’s the mum of the RFA
“A cleric?”
“Yes Jaehee.”
She always ends up using all her spell slot healing Zen’s character, much to Yoosung’s complaining
“I cast-“
“Jaehee that was your last spell slot..”
“Oh... what am I meant to do now?”
“You could... punch the goblin?”
Jaehee ends up multiclassing as a barbarian after she gets more into the game purely so she can stop playing just support and beat the shit out of the enemies
Ends up carrying the team through most of the encounters
Jumin
Oh boy
“MC I don’t understand. You want me to pretend to be someone else, in a made up fantasy world, and kill things for money?”
“......yes?”
Chooses to be a human fighter as that logically made the most sense to him.
And why would be pretend to be a made up race when he already knew how to be a human?
Relies WAY too much on rolls to do things and refuses to roleplay
“Do you want to say hi to the bar-“
“I rolled a 15 MC. What does that mean?”
“J-Jumin just walk up to her and say hi.”
“Do I have to roll for that?”
“Jumin no-“
Spends way too much time working on a backstory for his character that never actually gets revealed
“How can I play a character which an unrealistic childhood, MC? It is extremely over the top for both his parents to have been caught in that fire. The father must have been on a business trip.”
Seven
You already know what’s going on yall
We all know Seven would be that player
Gnome bard. All the way.
“I ROLL TO SEDUCE” is his catchphrase
What’s even more annoying is that he gets a high roll almost every time
“SEVEN NO YOU CAN’T BURN DOWN THE VILLAGE-“
“IM CHAOTIC EVIL I CAN DO WHAT I WANT-“
“THAT’S NOT HOW IT WORKS-“
He probably gave his character the most tragic backstory of them all “just cause”
He brings a different instrument to the game session every week to use when he’s bardically inspiring someone, much to the dismay of the rest of the party
Gets super into the roleplaying.
Are we at all surprised?
Has definitely cosplayed his character for a session more than once
V
Much like Jumin, V doesn’t quite understand the point of DnD
But if MC wants to play, who is he to say no?
Ended up choosing an elven druid after reading up on the different backstory of each class
The idea of being one with nature was quite appealing to him
Only problem is he has no idea how to help the party- in any circumstance
He’s misreading dice, adding the wrong modifiers, accidentally attacking the party instead of the creatures.
“I cast.. vicious mockery on... that one?”
“V THATS MY CHARACTER YOU WEASIL-“
One time, he ended up critical hitting an ogre and killed him in one hit, much to the surprise of the RFA
He was pretty chuffed with himself for the rest of the game.
“Maybe this isn’t so bad-“
He ended up dying a few rounds later after pissing off a dwarf
Saeran
Surprisingly, Saeran was actually up for playing when you asked him to
The idea of being able to be a different person for a while was very appealing to the boy
He ended up choosing a tiefling rouge from a starter set who he ended up designing himself
Much to everyone’s surprise, the character’s backstory was actually the modest out of all of them
“Why would I give them a tragic backstory? Don’t you think they’re going through enough?”
Protect
Is always the one who’s looting the monsters or splitting the party without permission
Yet somehow hasn’t ended up dying yet?
Saeran doesn’t roleplay either, not to anyone’s surprise, but he does offer the occasional input into in character mission planning just to make sure seven doesn’t end up making them do something extremely stupid that would get them all killed

Here come the prompts!
These are for all of us to use, so please feel free to peruse, reblog, explore, comment, and be generally delightful. Everyone will be receiving their assigned prompts later today, but remember that we are writing two stories each: one from the assigned prompts, and one from this list. You are free to pick anything apart from stuff you yourself prompted. There haven’t been any Dear Author letters I’ve spotted so far, so I’ve included some additional crossover prompts from people here, just for ease of reference. You absolutely don’t have to pick them - there’s just there in case you want them!
If you didn’t sign up for this challenge, but want to use any of the prompts below to write a fic – go for it! As long as you make sure to credit where you got the prompt from, you are very welcome to play with us.
Now, without further ado:
1.
Url: @autobot
Prompt 1: Sports AU: Bellamy and Raven flirt while their respective teams yell at them to get their head in the game.
Prompt 2: Delinquent Winter: It's snowing, so the delinquents decide to start a snowball fight. Raven and Bellamy really go at each other. Bellamy ends up getting a cut on his lip from an icy snowball, and Raven decides to remedy that with a kiss.
Prompt 3: Season 7: This is pretty vague but just anything with the relationship Bellamy/Raven/Doucette, with Bellamy having had separate relationships with the other two in the past.
Prompt 4 (optional variation on 1): HP AU: Bellamy and Raven flirt while their respective Gryffindor and Ravenclaw Quidditch teams yell at them to get their head in the game.
Things they don’t want to find in the fic you write for them: Momma didn't raise no wussy "N/A"
Also: Have seen all 7 seasons.
2.
Url: @growlereish
Prompt 1: post mount weather road trip. monty, miller, lincoln, gina, octavia, harper welcome to come too. maybe they find a bunch of cars and the delinquents take off into the sunset together. maybe it's just bellamy and raven exploring the world together.
Prompt 2: au where they're on a sports team together. any sport, the sport is not important, it's about the Team As Family and the Narratives
Prompt 3: fantasy au or canon + fantasy elements
Prompt 4: relationship negotiation / exploration
Prompt 5: anything from the expansive list of likes on my dear creator letter: https://growlery.dreamwidth.org/11097.html
Things they don’t want to find in the fic you write for them: somnophilia; humiliation, especially as a kink; d/s that's about punishment; discussion of diets/nutrition plans/exercise regimens/body maintenance/weight management/etc
Also: Have seen up to + including 3x08
3.
Url: @kinetic-elaboration
Prompt 1: High school AU: Bellamy and Raven are exes, but Raven is still good friends with Octavia, so they still see each other all the time
Prompt 2: Bellamy/Raven/Gina negotiating/figuring out a poly relationship in Arkadia pre-S3
Prompt 3: Braven + First real, heavy snow on the ground (canon or canon-divergent AU)
Prompt 4: Librarian!Bellamy and Mechanic!Raven
Prompt 5: Modern AU: Bellamy, Raven, and author's choice other delinquents living in a cramped apartment together; Raven and Bellamy are either struggling with UST or in a secret relationship or FWB arrangement
Things they don’t want to find in the fic you write for them: pregnancy/kid fic of any sort; side/background Minty, Marper, or Clexa; explicit sex (implied/fade to black/generically described is ok); character bashing of any kind
Also: Have seen season 1-4 (really do not want to write/read anything related to the timeskip on, please!).  I'm not really into the Grounders generally; I love the delinquents; I headcanon Raven as bisexual but Bellamy as straight.
4.
Url: @justbecauseyoubelievesomething
Prompt 1: Sci-fi/Space AU where Bellamy and Raven serve on the same ship; (fr)enemies to lovers with lots of angst along the way! Time loop/travel or interdimensional travel shenanigans would be appreciated as well!
Prompt 2: Dark Fairytale/Fantasy AU; very dark, stormy, foresty vibes; one of them is some sort of mythical creature, maybe even ruler of other mythical creatures; dark forbidden romance; for lots of bonus angst, one of them can be a magical creature hunter and reveal themselves at the end!
Prompt 3: Canonverse Ark AU; Bellamy and Raven meet as adults on the Ark because they both join the same secret revolutionary group planning to overthrow Alpha Station; other Delinquents can definitely make appearances!
Prompt 4: Modern AU; one of the two is driving through a small town trying to get home for Christmas when their car breaks down and they are forced to take it to the town's only mechanic; they snark at each other before the mechanic invites the stranded party to Christmas dinner; found family; fluff; basically you're typical Hallmark-esque set-up.
Prompt 5: Any setting! Bellamy and Raven are rivals in some sort of extreme sport (or if set in canonverse can be something like spacewalking). They're constantly pushing each other to their limits trying to beat each other, until Raven permanently injures her leg. She becomes very bitter during her recovery until she realizes that Bellamy isn't competing anymore and confronts him. Maybe feelings come out right away or maybe it takes them a while to get around to realizing it, but lots of angst and hurt/comfort during the build-up!
Things they don’t want to find in the fic you write for them: Explicit smut; pregnancy/kid fic; incest; student/teacher; character bashing of any other characters
Also: Have seen seasons 1-6 and the first half of season 7.
5.
Url: @ravenbells
Prompt 1: Raven discovering and enjoying the fact that Bellamy is a huge history nerd (can be canon, modern or some kind of fantasy/sci-fi setting).
Prompt 2: Modern AU. Raven is sharing a flat with friends, but one of them has to move out because of Reasons, and Bellamy rents the freed up room. Doesn’t have to be set in the US if you don’t want to, I don’t care that it’s an American show.
Prompt 3: Grounder AU, but set in the past. Bellamy and Raven were children when the nukes that caused the Ark to stay in space for generations went off. Now they are they first generation of survivors who have to build a life in a world without technology.
Prompt 4: Steampunk AU. Can be traditional Victorian-aesthetic steampunk, but if you want to lift your visuals from any other time period, be my guest. I’m going to love anything you do.
Prompt 5: Bellamy and Raven are exes who get back together (can be canon or any AU setting you can imagine).
Things they don’t want to find in the fic you write for them: Graphic violence
Also: Have only seen the first 2 seasons, please have mercy. If you want to incorporate the characters playing DnD into any of the stories, be my guest - just putting this in here because I know some people in the group love it (Bellamy would play a paladin, fight me), but if you’re not into this stuff, absolutely don’t feel obliged.
6.
Url: shortitude @ AO3
Prompt 1: Modern coffee-shop AU where they meet because both of them has a Specific Table they like to sit at and usually their schedules do not coincide, but then because of fate (someone's wi-fi broke, there's plumbing work happening at home, etc) they have to go to the coffee shop and their table is taken, as are all the others. Luckily, the traitor who took their Specific Table is willing to share it, just for today. (And then every day after.) Friends to Lovers is preferred over Instant Attraction in this one. Even open-ended works. (Please, no pandemic.)
Prompt 2: Canon-based AU: Give me cottagecore survival to replace the weird plots that happened to this show after s2. The idea of the Delinquents settling in a village, life moving on, peace being brokered, etc etc. In the middle of it all, Bellamy and Raven rely on each other to rebuild, and fall in love. A lot.
Prompt 3: Five times Bellamy tried to show his love for Raven and failed, and one time she finally got the point. Oblivious That People Might Love Her!Raven is my tragic and problematic fave. A bonus: competence kink. Acceptable: any form of AU; I am not a stickler for canon.
Prompt 4 (optional): Pacific Rim AU; veteran Jaeger pilot gets pulled back into action because of a need to pull off a last fight against the apocalypse/alien invasion, drifts unexpectedly with the supermouthy, supersmart, very capable engineer/mechanic. Add as many characters from The 100 as you'd like into this, but I am very much more into the wholesome survival of all of them than I am about everyone except Braven dying.
Things they don’t want to find in the fic you write for them: Bellarke content if the Braven content is just a way for Bellamy to "get over" Clarke, be it failed relationship or unrequited one.
Also: Have seen season 1 and Season 2 in full; vaguely familiar with STUFF about how they ended up in space, and nothing beyond that because I literally don't care.

i love ds9 and here are some episode premises that i wish had happened
DND EPISODE: already talked about this but a dungeons and dragons holosuite episode. jake is the overly prepared DM obviously, nog, ziyal, and alexander are players. nog’s player is clearly his idea of sisko, a lawful good paladin; ziyal plays as a cardassian rogue (played by dukat, but clearly based in personality on kira); alexander plays a mage who is kind-of worf kind-of jadzia and keeps switching between them through the game). there’s an NPC version that’s clearly also based on sisko at one point, but from jake’s point of view knowing him as his dad to compare how differently jake and nog, a cadet, see him.
as the game progresses, it becomes clear that the Big Bad is based on a combo of dukat/winn (corrupt government/religious figure). ziyal struggles with the classic DND question of ‘just because i would do this, does that mean my character would?’ except she’s realizing that her dad wouldn’t do any of the selfless things she wants her character to do. alexander keeps trying to solve shit through weird cantrips or puzzle solving instead of fighting and jake is like ‘it’s not deep it’s just a cave bat please roll initiative’. bashir and garak show up as like, the old couple from the princess bride and everyone has to be like ‘jake they’re not dating in real life this rpf shit is kind of inappropriate’ and he’s like ‘wait what? i thought they were dating’. miles is an NPC and dies. nog thinks jake’s-sisko-npc is too silly and disrespectful and jake is like ‘he’s MY dad’ and they have to take a break to argue about it and jake is like ‘your dad is cool too’. nog’s character changes to lawful good paladin rom. actually this whole game is ‘arguing about dads’ time now that i think about it, which jake is not really equipped to jump in on since he has a normal cool dad who he basically just thinks is embarrassing because he’s the ~messiah~ or some goofy bullshit. ends with them calling it a day after the final boss battle and then jake and nog privately talking about whether or not they can trust ziyal if she has to choose between ds9 and dukat, which was an ulterior motive of the game. ziyal is clearly clearly rattled by what the game made her realize and goes to see kira, who she doesn’t tell about the game but who still gives her a hug, and ziyal realizes that kira’s her hero (and like, her mom). alexander tells worf and dax about the game and dax thinks it sounds fun as hell and asks alexander if they can come next time, and worf is like ‘....... only if i can be a blood mage’. nog and jake go home and tell their dads they love them.
shit i blacked out
PRANK WAR EPISODE: escalating series of pranks starting with jadzia putting hair dye in bashir’s shampoo and ending with the space station accidentally going into a meltdown self destruct scenario. garak is torn between helping jadzia and quark, who are clearly the better pranksters, or helping julian and odo, who suck at pranks but are his lunch friends. everyone has to tell garak that he’s way too intense about ‘pranks’ which are actually just really dangerous booby traps he puts in people’s quarters. sisko ends the episode by grounding everyone; no holosuites for a month!! yes even dax
GREAT RACE EPISODE: there’s some kind of macguffin resource on a planet (a klingon escape pod with a survivor with crucial intelligence information?), but they can’t teleport directly to it. a vorta and jem h’dar team and a ds9 team beam down on opposite sides of its location and are both racing to get there first, having to macgyver together vehicles and tools on the way. lots of excellent outdoor on-location settings and comparison of the jem h’dar/vorta dynamic and the ds9 federation dynamic. ends with the jem h’dar almost winning but turning on the vorta at the last few yards, and sisko’s team beams out as the jem h’dar chant victory. no i refuse to think this is same plot as ‘the ship’ or whatever
KASIDY EPISODE: set earlier in kasidy/sisko’s relationship, kasidy agrees to go with jadzia as a third-party observer to negotiations with a nearby bajoran colony over a trade agreement with the federation. jadzia and kasidy bond over gossiping about sisko on the way, but once they get there kasidy disagrees with the starfleet’s contract during negotiations which causes tensions, and recommends that the bajorans reject it. she and jadzia get into an argument about starfleet and its ideals, and why kasidy chose to be an independent captain rather than a starfleet captain, and how that doesn’t make her lesser than starfleet captains. jadzia realizes that kasidy is right and petitions superiors for a new contract, which kasidy approves of. they go home tenser then when they left, but when sisko asks jadzia what she thinks of kasidy, she very seriously says that she has incredible compassion, intelligence, and integrity, and that she doesn’t need or want jadzia’s approval. but has it anyway
MUSICAL EPISODE: someone already outlined a great musical ep where lwaxana comes in with a betazoid cold and it makes everyone burst into song in another text post and like 100% cosigned
SHAKESPEARE EP: holosuite shenanigans; every character is suddenly stuck as someone from a different shakespeare play. garak is an enthusiastically combative beatrice, kira is cordelia, worf is hamlet, jadzia is a very amused katerina, julian is puck, miles is duncan (”i get MURDERED?”), odo is benvolio and kind of bummed he’s not romeo, etc. i actually don’t know any shakespeare play that well but i think it could be neat. julian is the only fucking person on ds9 who actually knows any of it well enough to figure out what’s going on, except for sisko who doesn’t really care for shakespeare but generally knows about the plays (maybe a good opportunity to talk about the racism in most ‘classic Earth’ pop culture that star trek tends to uphold without criticism). i don’t know shit about the 40 plays that shakespeare wrote about british kings but i could see sisko ending up in that kind of intense role and refusing to play into it, as do the rest of the characters who refuse to fulfill their respective roles and instead find another way to end the program.
KLINGON OPERA EPISODE: goodddddddd can we see some klingon opera, mac. i’ve been dying to see some klingon opera. premise is they believe that someone is assassinating ambassadors and so they tag along with a andorian ambassador who loves opera to see if they can figure out who the assassin is, however the andorian plays it down as over-worrying and that they should use it as an excuse to enjoy themselves. worf and jadzia go and have a lovey dovey time, sisko and kasidy go and have a lovey dovey time watching worf and jadzia get super into the opera together. julian is asked to go in case there’s poison used or first aid needed, and miles is like ‘the last time i went undercover i came home with trauma and someone’s cat so no thanks i hate klingon opera’ and after some increasingly overt passive aggressive implications that julian should take HIM, julian asks garak to go with him. bonus points if for some reason they are wearing the stupid tuxedos from doctor bashir i presume. a lot of loud arguing about the opera which almost gets them kicked out. at the end of the first act, one of the actors DOES try to kill the andorian but jadzia jumps in front of the phaser beam (cue worf being very concerned and annoyed that she could have gotten killed, jadzia being very smug and pleased with herself, her head in his lap, in a pose mirroring an earlier couple in the opera). julian feels like he would have noticed if he hadn’t been distracted by garak, and when it turns out the andorian ambassador has sensitive info about cardassia’s civilian government, julian accuses garak of intentionally trying to distract him to make sure the andorian actually died, which turns into a huge argument (ideally in a very opulent klingon opera house bathroom). during the argument, julian realizes that garak was trying to hint to him that something about the assassination attempt was off; he pieces together aloud that the andorian and the actor must have been in league together, to fake the andorian’s assassination so they could not be tried for profiteering by illegally selling weapons to the cardassian central control during bajoran occupation, which they are currently under investigation for. the other ambassador assasinations were planned by the andorian to cover their tracks. the andorian is arrested, as is the actor. at the ballroom afterparty, sisko and kasidy, in a good mood that everything worked out, agree to join in on traditional klingon dancing. worf and jadzia take a peaceful walk through the gardens and worf recites some really lovely klingon poetry about how sometimes it’s NOT a good day to die if someone loves you, that none of us fucking understand without looking it up. julian and garak talk on the balcony, and julian posits that garak is loyal to cardassia, but which part of it? garak answers, very close and meaningfully looking at julian, ‘like most things... it’s complicated.’
i was about to say ‘fake wedding episode’ but literally LITERALLY that was the shotgun wedding lwaxana/odo ep. i love star trek
KEIKO BOTANIST EPISODE: kira accompanies keiko to bajor to help find a medicinal plant that was thought to be wiped out during the occupation but might still exist in a remote mountain region based on local reports. a nice episode where we learn more about bajor and see how bajorans are coping and healing. over a campfire, kira thanks keiko for accepting her into their family. keiko tells kira that she was really intimidated by her when they first met, and then realized she’s one of the most loving people she knows. just a nice episode, maybe some mild nature survival conflict, but ends on a hopeful note of them finding the plant. miles beams down with the kids to have a picnic with keiko and kira, and kira’s happy to see children playing carelessly on bajor again.
JAKE AND ZIYAL EPISODE: everyone thinks jake and ziyal are dating because they’ve been hanging out. julian’s an idiot and mentions to sisko ‘must be hard, huh’ and sisko’s like ‘WHAT must be hard’ and julian’s like oh my god were we not supposed to talk to him about this. jake and ziyal aren’t dating but as soon as sisko tries to talk to jake about it jake is like ‘i’m not but actually maybe i SHOULD ask her out’ and sisko is like fuck. okay no that’s fine. this is more of a B-plot but basically give jake and ziyal age-appropriate love interests they’re both RIGHT there

just a cool dnd meme i saw
Yook so it’s less a meme and more like. a big ol questionare but hey, might as well do it. originally saw it on @/probablyottrpgideas, go check them out
1. Game Master, Player, or both? Why?
Ok so technically I’ve DMed twice but I really don’t find it fun? and don’t ever want to do it again. so. Player. I like building characters and their connections with fellow PCs more than building worlds
2. When did you start roleplaying? How old were you?
oh god, if we’re talking about roleplaying in general? I’ve been doing it basically as long as I can remember. As a kid I would play House, and then once I got older in like 5th grade I actually started making characters and playing out their stories with friends. Google+ is what made me realize this was actually like, a THING, though, and I got into some roleplaying groups there, then on DevaintArt. Dungeons and Dragons is a newer development? I got into it in late 2018 when my sister’s friend invited us to a one-shot, and... well, yea, I got hooked lol
3. What was the first roleplaying book you ever owned?
dude, bold of you to assume I really own any. I don’t have that kind of money and literally only own the Guide to Wildemount, and that was a gift
4. Describe the first game you ever ran or played in.
I mean... it’s not a game but ima describe the one shot, bc my first campaign was a hot mess without a true storyline and I used the same character for it anyway. I played a tiefling bard called Aisling Kai (I didn’t know this was a cliche combo at this point, and I honestly played her like a rogue with a music motif but Whatever) and we were a little group tasked to figure out why the hell anyone who goes into this cave never comes out. So we go in, make our way through the dungeon, fight some frog people (I made one of their ears bleed just by getting a nat 20 on a performance check to play a high f# on flute, that was fun, FWEET), and turns out yep, theres a hill giant down here. We kicked his ass and collapsed the cave on top of us (dw I think we were fine but my memory is a little screwy)
5. What system did you grow up with? / 6. Which system do you play now?
i learned on and currently play dnd 5e. I don’t really know anything else, but I’m debating checking out Vampire of the Masquerade.
7. Longest campaign you’ve run or played in?
That would be my Tal’Dorei campaign group, aka The Fatefallen! Started in the Fall of 2019 and still going to this day, just played our 45th session last week. I play Ilia Liadon, the drow grave cleric, and the only member of our party who has been there for every single session since the beginning.
8. Where did you meet your current gaming group?
...well first I feel the need to mention that I have 3 different groups (2 of them are on hiatus now for pandemic related reasons but! we’re still groups). My first group (with Aisling) was formed slowly over time as friends adopted friends into the group, I think it started as a school club? but that didn’t last long. The other two started from a different school club as well, though one has since branched out into other people as well.
9. Strategic combat or dramatic plotlines?
I am a roleplayer first and a gamer second. Give me all of the backstories and dramatic plotlines. Don’t get me wrong, I still like combat, but story takes precedent for me.
10. Favorite RPG genre?
I don’t tend to define myself by genre? But I tend to fall into more of a fantasy, at most arcanapunk style. Give me all of the magic, and magic powered tech.
11. Your first character.
I got into her a little bit earlier, but my first character was Aisling, aka Calypso Kai. She was a homebrew subclass bard with a criminal background, who honestly? should’ve been a rogue. I’ve since rebuilt her into an Assassin Rogue/College of Eloguence Bard multiclasser, but this iteration was like. Baby her, baby me new to dnd, I did not know what I was doing. She tried to be edgy, but my mom energy came through HARD and she just. Never really had a set characterization. She deserves better and I plan on playing her better sometime in the future.
12. Your favorite character.
You are making me choose between my children. BUT, if I had to pick, either Ilia Liadon, or! Ashe Wednesday, a protector aasimar drunken master monk and my profile picture. Ashe also deserved a lot better from their campaign, so I have a massive soft spot for them, they were made during a really tough time in my life (as was Ilia) and was going through an equally rough time in-game, since I made them for a Curse of Strahd campaign without understanding what I was getting into. They’re my little rebellious asshole and I love them dearly, someone get this kid therapy. Ilia, on the other hand, is just... she’s a comfort character for me at this point. mostly soft edges, such a mom- while Ashe was me yelling “come at me” at the world while crying, Ilia was just... embracing it. Making it better. basically, if they actually existed, I would die for both of them.
13. Your most ridiculous character.
I don’t usually play super ridiculous characters, but! I would say Keothi “Bookfinder” Vaimeil counts. She was basically me looking all of the goliath barbarian stereotypes in the eye, and going “nah. she’s a nerd.” She’s literally a massive puppy dog, just the sweetest big old thing, sitting in her house and reading all the books she can get her hands on in order to make up for her amnesia. Oh, and did I mention that she’s a zombie? ...yea. She’s wacky, but I love her.
14. The best in-character line you’ve ever had.
“I need sleep. I don’t even sleep and I need sleep.”
~Ilia, after a particularly tough fight and an emotionally draining day
15. Your most epic death.
Ok so... none of my characters in game have ever actually died during the storyline? Keothi obviously has in her backstory, and Ilia might have in hers as well, it was never explicitly stated, but during the game? Nope. Ashe got stupid close, but nope. Since Keothi is my only death period, and her death was pretty epic, I’m just gonna describe that. Her parents and siblings in her Goliath tribe had all fallen ill, so she decided to go searching for a possible cure, and ended up getting conned into helping this cult, since they said they would cure her family. Turns out, yea, they were lying, they just needed a goliath willing to sacrifice themselves with a cursed sword. They made the mistake of revealing this before Keothi was actually dead, so as she was dying, she brought the entire goddamn cultist temple down to the bottom of the sea and took the cultists with her. The sword was why she was undead, in the Shadowfell, and couldn’t remember anything.
16. Your most disappointing death.
As mentioned, I’ve never died in campaign, but I feel like I have to mention this one that happened to our party in Curse of Strahd. We were in the death house, all 5 of us, still level 1, and our barbarian falls into a pit trap with spikes. None of us realize she’s actually dead, so we send out paladin down to get her... with the monk, the bard, and the warlock holding the rope. ....yea both of them died.
17. Something that shouldn’t have worked, but it did.
I’m stuck between two options for this one. First one was the time our water genasi paladin/rogue bloodbended our gnome cleric into a bridge to keep her from falling all the way down a ravine. The second time was when our party managed to defend a small seaside town from a pirate raid with just an NPC with Control Water, a ballista, ourselves, and some explosives. Neither should’ve worked, but both did. Having a triton in your party can really come in clutch in a seaside campaign.
18. Something that went hilariously awry.
I have one that’s hilarious and one that’s horrifying. Hilarious one: in my first ever campaign, someone from Aisling’s backstory popped up and our sorcerer went “that’s shady” (to be fair, he was) and then went to investigate BY HIMSELF. He obviously got kidnapped by the mafia, and then we went all stealth mission to break him out. Stealth was immediately abandoned after our other bard used a SCREAMING SWORD to break open the locks, then we proceeded to go out the way we came, setting everything on fire on the way out, and with our bard lying their way out the front door (with the rest of us in tow as “prisoners”) by pretending to be a fellow mafia member. It was great. Horrifying one: Ilia tries to Send to a member of the party who left in order to let him know that a fellow party member had died. Forgot that he left bc his mind was invaded by a previously dead, very evil old god, and ends up trapped there with him for a while. Ended up with all of our main spellcasters trapped in their own heads while the barbarian paced around worriedly and the rogue decided he was going to get smashed instead of worrying himself silly.
19. Your most memorable in-character moment.
There are a LOT in Ilia’s campaign, but! If I had to pick one, it would actually be a pretty recent one involving Ilia and our party’s wizard, Liara. They’re basically the embodiment of head vs heart? Anyway, Liara is currently suffering from something called magic corruption, though idk if suffering is the right word. Anyway! It basically resulted in her getting... possessed? by her own magic during the night during Ilia’s watch, and they had a really, really interesting conversation regarding guilt, death, and grief, and yea basically I love them. Honorable mention to our druid’s death (he’s back and better now, but that was my first long-time death in a game, we didn’t know he was coming back) and also the moment that Ilia realized that her childhood bff/crush had been revived in a new body and that this NPC was her best friend. That was a trip.
20. The coolest item you ever got and how you came to possess it.
I got this item in the revamp of my first ever campaign and nothing has topped it since which is Sad but hey. Anyway! I got this really cool, possibly cursed dagger after I threw a knife at an absolutely eldritch being and it got stuck in him as he transformed. It looked really badass, and allowed me to cast Inflict Wounds on occasion when I stabbed someone with it. So yea, we love that. Honorable mention to my paladin/bloodhunter’s Helm of the Aberrant Gladiator which allows you to basically do a bunch of fear based affects and psychic stuff.
Numbers 21 through 30 don’t apply to me but. yea. enjoy this summary of my dnd history I guess

Have you talked about your DnD PCs before? Can you talk about your game on tumblr? What's all been going on last few sessions :o
ANON you are one of my favorite people today this ask made me so freaking happy. (So is @psychedelicships  who said I had an invitation to ramble about my d&d campaign) Sorry for my excited gushing and rambling slkdfjdsklfjskldfj
My D&D Player Character
So my current D&D PC is named Kyssarda. She’s a half-elf neutral-good monk. I’ve rambled about her backstory before but the condensed version is that there’s a pattern of people leaving her/abandoning her in her life. Her parents died in a fire that her older brother rescued her from when she was four. She passed out on the way out, and when she woke up, she’d been told that she’d been left on the doorstep of the temple. Her brother was no where to be found. When she eventually made her way back home, her home was ash. Monks trained her, but they weren’t really equipped to raise a small child, so Kyssarda had a very lonely upbringing. The monks follow Sehanine (d&d deity), so she was raised on the tenants of her teachings and the teachings about following your own path led to her eventually striking out on her own. As a result of her upbringing and past, the people in her life (i.e. the party) are super important to her, because they are the first friends she ever chose and in some ways, they’ve chosen her too. She has abandonment issues up the wazoo, and hoo has she been reminded of that in recent sessions.
She’s very... empathetic and soft. She pays close attention to the mental/emotional state of her party members. Part of that is just who she is, but a lot of that is informed by her own loneliness. She doesn’t want others to feel like they’re alone, because she knows very intimately how much that can suck. Her loyalty and protectiveness of her friends leads her to sometimes not make the most tactically advantageous decision in combat, and also means that she has basically no self-preservation instincts (which is the main reason I’m pretty sure she’s gonna die before the campaign is over).
Campaign Stuff/Ramblings (under a cut because I’m literally just never going to shut up lets goooo):
So the original party consisted of a Teifling Paladin, a Wood Elf Rogue (who is multiclassing in monk), a Leonin Blood Hunter, and Kyssarda. We met during a fighting tournament and was contracted by the king to retrieve something for him. We teamed up for that, and convinced the king to come along too. So we traveled to some ruins, fought some stuff, and found the relic the king needed. We ran into a Jotenheim giant and fought that. In the process, the Leonin ended up attacking Kyssarda (cuz he’s basically a werewolf lion, and when he goes to his hybrid form and drops below half-health, he has to save on a wisdom saving throw or he just attacks the closest figure which happened to be meeee).
Later on in a different fight in the same place, Kyssarda freaking died thanks to 2 chain lightnings (I took damage while unconcious and then rolled a Nat1 on the death save). But the king we brought along was a cleric who had what was needed for revivify. So Kyssarda came back, with a withered left hand. The Leonin felt responsible for her death because he’d attacked her earlier, and vowed to help her fix her hand.
I forget exactly when, but during this journey, Kyssarda and the Leonin learned that there was a war brewing between two different kingdoms and that the Elf Rogue seemed to have a personal (but vague?) stake in the outcome of that war.
but ON OUR WAY BACK to the city, we got side-tracked with a quest to help a little girl rescue her family. So we also fought a troll and a hag. And when we were getting her family out, we also found (Surprise!!) the estranged (kinda) sister of the Elf Rogue.
This lead to some downtime back at the main city. Kyssarda got her hand fixed at a temple. We got the sister of the Elf Rogue healed up at the same temple. The Leonin had a hilarious and embarrassing fight with a creature I can’t remember the name of. And lots of research was done by all about various things. Kyssarda did the most research, as she grew up working in the library section of the monk monastery so she’s always curious. So she starts looking into things about the war going on, and learns that Mr. Elf Rogue is in fact ROYALTY. He’s a prince of one of the countries at war. And we had learned already that he had fled the city with his siblings but not that he was royalty?? So that was a trip to learn.
Meanwhile, Kyssarda is also helping the Teifling Paladin with some research because he’s been having weird dreams. And while they’re chillin’ in the library, the Paladin finds this book and gets sucked into it. Like. One minute he’s there, one minute he’s not and the book is floating before it closes and slams on the table. So Kyssarda (Ms. Abandonment Issues and also Freshly Traumatized By Havivng Died) panics and takes the book and runs. Our Paladin is still in the book. We sent him a Sending Scroll asking if he was okay and he basically said “Yeah im fine I’ll be back eventually”. Kyssarda also had a nice heart-to-heart with the Elf Rogue about the reemergence of his sister and told him a little about how her own brother abandoned her and encouraged him to just be patient with her (because the sister is not happy with him).
But the show must go on, and our Elf Rogue really wants to get back to his home and help in the war effort somehow, plus find his brother who also is MIA. So Kyssarda, the Leonin, the Royal Elf Rogue, his sister, AND another human PC (a guy who helped sneak the Elf Rogue and his siblings out the city all those years ago and was being played by the guy who used to be the Paladin) all travel out headed towards the Elf Rogue’s homeland.
But we get to the border at a bridge, and the party finds themselves facing down some harpies, some marrows, and a water elemental. In the fight, Kyssarda casts silence to help against the siren song the harpies were singing. Which was mostly a good thing. The water elemental was something else though. It engulfed both Kyssarda and the Elf Rogue, and Kyssarda was down to 1 HP when the Leonin yanked her out. However, because of a REALLY unfortunate roll by the human pc to save from a drop into the river (rolled a 2 and had a minus 2 on the modifier), he was unconcious and drowning. And none of our characters knew because. y’know. Silence. He kept drowning as the fight went on. And he eventually got washed up on some rocks and could make one death save after two failed ones. And he failed. And we had no cleric, and besides... it was more than a minute before we found his body down river.
And all of our characters felt terrible. Kyssarda has a tendency to take blame for things that maybe aren’t strictly her fault, so she definitely feels a weight of responsibility for complicated reasons. The Leonin expressed that he felt some level of responsibility as well, and also hesitation about going forward with the journey though some conversation between Kyssarda and him lead to him continuing on regardless. The Elf Rogue was pretty torn up about it.
We got some Elf Rogue backstory that addresses the fact that he was royalty (which was something Kyssarda had thought about asking) and more explanation of what’s been going on with him and his connection to the land we’re heading towards. We run into a fey creature that was an old ally of the Elf Rogue and Teifling Paladin, and we agreed to help him.
Cue the session last night.
We go to get some stuff of his back from an Incubus/Succubus pair. And sh!t hit the fan. Our Elf Rogue rolled really high stealth and decided that was a fine reason to dive through the broken window. Meanwhile, we were going on this side-quest with a half-orc barbarian (played by the guy that’s usually the paladin and who had the first PC death of the game the session prior). And the Incubus and Succubus can each essentially mind-control people, or try to. And both our barbarian and our Leonin Blood Hunter failed their wisdom save and so our two biggest heavy hitters were mind-controlled by the enemy. THAT went about as well as you’d expect.
Over the course of the fight, the Leonin went unconcious twice. Kyssarda once. The Elf Rogue twice. And the barbarian would have gone unconcious but thanks to relentless endurance, he was brought back to one HP. In fact, we reached a point towards the end where the Leonin, Kyssarda, and the Elf Rogue were all unconcious and our barbarian was the only one standing...at one HP. That’s when the incubus (we’d killed his mate by then) took the Elf Rogue’s sister and made a break for it. The barbarian brought me back first (because I was dying in acid and therefore automatically failing death saves). Then I brought back the Leonin and we got the Elf Rogue up too. We managed to chase down the Incubus and save the sister as well. but HOLE. EE. SH!T. Most terrifying, stressful D&D combat of my LIFE. Kyssarda came very, very close for two rounds to offering herself up as a willing victim/slave/whatever if they’d let her friends go. She didn’t because the tide was starting to turn by then in the fight but it was a ROLLERCOASTER.
Before we closed the session, we went back to that fey guy and got paid though Kyssarda stormed off kind of? She didn’t vibe with the guy because she almost lost her friends over his stupid book and she was shaken and upset. But she had a conversation with the Leonin at the end of the session just kinda... dealing with the trauma of the past few days in-game. It was actually a really nice moment. I think my favorite RP moment for Kyssarda so far.
So yeah! If you read all of this, I’m surprised and touched. Heh. I literally love D&D so freaking much, and I’m especially attached to this party and this character... though her lack of self-preservation does have me starting to plan for another back-up character just in case. ^u^

best lekws of the party?
after a long six months, here it is: a ranking of my top five favourite outfits from each member of the party. hope it was worth the wait.
mike:
5. snow ball
Tumblr media Tumblr media
i went to three formal events in all thirteen years of schooling and all five educational institutions i attended so middle schoolers having a random winter dance is VERY funny and weird to me. i don't think anyone i knew at thirteen would have had a good outfit for this kind of event but mike wheeler continues to be ahead of us all.
4. denim vest
Tumblr media Tumblr media
people will say to me, "but how can you think mike is a lesbian?" and i will remind them of the time she wore a denim vest and bullied a twunk into giving her what she wanted. and that will close the case without a second thought.
3. pastel polo
Tumblr media Tumblr media
thinking about the text i got from a friend that just said "okay yeah this shirt is kind of a lesbian look"
2. yellow button up
Tumblr media Tumblr media
i have made many jokes at the expense of stranger things and will continue to do so as long as i am alive but i must say. the talent the wardrobe team has whenever they put any character in yellow...maybe the smartest people on the crew. anyway. here's another shirt that i wish that i owned.
1. s2 sweater
Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media
could it be anything else? the sweater that immediately went to the top of every lesbian's "Fashion I Need" list. mike wheeler was NOT going to let her trauma and fear and confusion from being far more fashionable than i ever was in 7th grade.
eleven:
5. bitchin’
Tumblr media Tumblr media
she said it best herself
4. denim overalls and grey sweater
Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media
i kind of completely forgot about this until i was making this list and like, how the fuck did i manage that? i would wear this outfit now. i may not be a fan of jim hopper or his wardrobe but he really was doing some good parenting when he bought his daughter this outfit
3. paint splatter shirt
Tumblr media Tumblr media
oh to be a fourteen year old psychic in 1985 hanging out with my lesbian best friend at the mall and stealing some really amazing pieces of clothing like this shirt and the fun romper and hat it can be paired with.
2. yellow shirt and black pants with suspenders
Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media
see above re: my comments on yellow shirts. did you know that a store was selling this outfit for FAR too much money but i still considered buying it? kinda upset that a 14 year old has my dream wardrobe
1. colourful romper
Tumblr media Tumblr media
there is a reason i've seen about 50 people in their twenties wearing the knockoffs that target and hot topic made of this: because it's GREAT. probably my favourite piece in a season full of a consistently good wardrobe. el has been wearing stuff that isn't flannel for all of one hour and still has a better eye for fashion than i do. also the fact she probably stole this is a plus.
max:
5. intro outfit
Tumblr media Tumblr media
max arrived in hawkins and was like. time to prove i am the superior sibling in my family when it comes to personality, skateboarding skills, and outfits.
4. halloween costume
Tumblr media Tumblr media
not only did she outshine the party when it came to halloween scares, but she also kind of outshined them when it came to outfits. how were their matching ghostbusters outfits ever going to compare?
3. braids
Tumblr media Tumblr media
at fourteen, max mayfield has managed to work out something that some people spend their whole lives not knowing: when you go to deal with a demon that has possessed your shitty older stepbrother, you need to wear a memorable outfit. and where can you go wrong with purple and blue stripes on a shirt and fun little braids?
2. yellow shirt
Tumblr media Tumblr media
they’re all rocking great outfits honestly, but max still wins because she’s got that great shirt and those fun denim shorts. the boys never stood a chance.
1. rainbow shirt
Tumblr media Tumblr media
as someone who has been a fourteen year old lesbian with messy red hair, i can confidently say i never had the ability to rock an outfit like this. godspeed, maxine.
will:
5. dnd wizard
Tumblr media Tumblr media
will byers said You Guys Are Going To Ignore My Campaign So I Am Going To Force You To Care By Wearing The Most Theatrical Outfit Possible And Yelling At You To Wake Up. and was he wrong for that? no!
4. s2 flannel
Tumblr media
imagine mike wheeler showing up in the best sweater of all time and everyone else at your school is like Holy Shit, Cannot Compare To That Outfit. and they would be right but my GOD did will put a valiant effort in. LOVING the colours here truly.
3. girls don’t play video games
Tumblr media Tumblr media
will byers is allowed to be a misogynist because he will wear a great outfit while doing it
2. s1 outfit
Tumblr media
i think we've established that i'm a fan of vests. but really, if you're going to be trapped in another dimension for a week, you'd want to have an awesome outfit while doing it.
1. mindflayer (0) vs a great outfit (1)
Tumblr media Tumblr media
the shorts are fun! the shirt has nice colours! this is probably the least his hair has looked like he's a beatles reject! i know everyone was busy being "traumatised" or "dying" but that's no excuse for nobody complimenting him on this absolute look
lucas:
5. final s3 outfit
Tumblr media Tumblr media
lucas went to say goodbye to the byers family in this great shirt to make sure they’d never forget him. and who could, in a green like that?
4. blue stripes
Tumblr media Tumblr media
there’s so many stripes on this list, but none of them hold a candle to this shirt, if i’m honest. blue is my favourite colour, so i’m a little biased, but it’s a nice range of shades paired with a great jacket. 10/10. the only reason it’s not higher is because he just has consistently has a great wardrobe.
3. red turtleneck, hidden by even cooler clothes
Tumblr media Tumblr media
do you know how hard it is to wear three layers and make every piece count? apparently not hard at all for mr sinclair. he always has such a coordinated outfit and i think he might be the true fashion icon of this show for that...the colours here are perfect and every piece is just nice on its own. get lucas on project runway and he'd WIN.
2. summertime style
Tumblr media Tumblr media
my notes for this look just say "fun hat" which i think is all that needs to be said
1. camo bandana
Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media
he looked up Outfits To Bully Jocks In and honestly? he was successful on both fronts.
dustin:
5. three great items to create a masterpiece
Tumblr media Tumblr media
cards on the table, i forgot about this outfit until now. but i never will again. we’ve established i like yellow shirts, but combined with his iconic hat and the fun jacket i talk about later? he made his point. i’m sorry dustin.
4. vest
Tumblr media Tumblr media
another vest! like, if it works, it works, and this definitely does. also, i appreciate his ability to keep his hat on despite being trapped in a secret underground russian basement, for like, three days. he knew it completed the outfit. he was NOT letting that go.
3. purple hoodie
Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media
steve, how does it feel to have an outfit that doesn’t measure up to the looks of not one, but two middle schoolers?
2. spy outfit
Tumblr media Tumblr media
i’m kind of annoyed we didn’t get a good look at this outfit. both of the shirts are such fun and the kind of thing that i would probably wear today. it was good of steve to wear the scoops outfit and allow dustin to have his moment. although, really, what could top those patterns?
1. snow ball
Tumblr media Tumblr media
like, i’m a 22 year old lesbian, i’m not going to fight a bunch of middle schoolers for not appreciating this outfit. but c’mon. i’ve been through 8th grade. this is absolutely a step up from what the guys i knew would wear. he manages to make it work without the blazer and with steve’s ridiculous hair tips. give a king a little more respect.
