FORGOTTEN LAND'S SECOND ANNIVERSARY :3

I AM SOOOO BACK

I started this drawing yesterday around afternoon and finished it just a few minutes earlier.

I went with a messier type of drawing instead of more clean like the elfilin one from yesterday, i find it fun doing it like this, mostly cause i dont have to worry about making it perfectly so i dont get as frustrated as normal. Id place this one as my second best digital drawing. im pretty sure i havent posted what i consider my best digital drawing here, tho i do have it in instagram, i might post it here one day, tho these two are way too tied up, i love how this came out, its not exactly like how i imagined it but its really close to it, and also itd say that since i dont tend to play around lighting that much, this was such a joy to draw and i cant help but stare at it a lot, at least until i start hating it because i made quite a lot of errors. i also changed my elfilis gijinka just a tad bit from last time, but its not that big of a difference, mostly.

ofc i had to draw elfilis for forgotten land's anniversary, i tend to deny it in my head but yeah they're my fave of the kirby characters even tho i hate them a bit. I wanted to draw some more doodles, like, elfilis eating cake, kirby car, a bunch of other stuff (not elfilin cuz i already drew him yesterday) but when i tried i couldnt draw anything more, guess this drawing burned me out a lot, huh?

you can definitly tell i spent all the efforts on him cuz if you look a bit closer to the bottom part you'll see its almost barely detailed, but i mean, they're the focus so make sense i guess for me not add that much detail there. um also, maybe because i dunno i had OVER 130 LAYERS jeez no wonder firealpaca was slowing down so much, i need to manage my layers better next time, tho i did do something i keep forgetting, wich is naming them (most of them at least) that was a real life saver

Also, antares (fecto elfilis' spear/cadaceus), as always, was a pain to draw, but this time its probably been draw the most accurate out of every other drawing ive made with it in it, i didnt notice it was like, a little curved when it reached the blade

fun fact! actually, this is technically a redraw, somewhere around between february and march i started a fecto elfilis drawing for the first anniversary, but i couldnt finish it in time, and i never finished it

thats...quite the improvement! (i remember being so proud of it)

also his wings are like that cuz i did not want to draw the pattern, its way too hard, i literally copy pasted it, wait, i was talking about the 2024 version but i looked at the 2023 one and i just noticed it also has the pattern copy pasted, i guess some stuff never changes since i still abuse the ctrl+c ctrl+v to this day

Also i ended up making a huge error there, i was planing to add the phantom spears from orbital pulsar (the attack he does first when you battle them at lab discovera) but theres an innacuracy, when they do the attack, they always close their eyes, i had actually sketched him (well i mean both these drawings are basically the first sketch (2023) or second sketch(2024) with some color, shadows and lighting. i didnt do lineart in the 2024 one cuz i wanted to be a bit like the og i made (too bad i sketched that one with black since the og was sketched with white due to me drawing the bg first)) with his eyes closed but them decided to make them open for a reason i cant remember, maybe i thought itd look nicer? idk

ive had the idea of redrawing this for quite some month now so it was kinda already planned

background cuz i think it came out really pretty

doesnt have the little stars since without elfilis and the structures it looks fucked up. the actual sky in game is more blue, but the clouds have some orange, in the 2023 ver. i made the sky orange, and in the 2024 ver i wanted it more accurate, but i didnt wanna loose the orange sky, so i did a gradient. pretty...

also here's a screenshot i took when i was like halfway trough it, its barely noticeable but i changed his mouth in the final drawing

I really love katfl, like a buncha whole lot, its basically almost my first mainline kirby game. 100% the demo, finished the game in almost one day, i literally play it monthly, like, every month i put the card in my switch, start it up, get morpho sword, and go shred elfilis in lab discovera. i would probably not even be here on tumblr and the kirby fandom if it werent for it. and i love it so much i genuinly cannot express how much i like it and treasure it with words or anything

her being kinda like a playboy?? she’s never publicly dated someone but flirts with everyone just to see them blush and stutter. anytime she’s asked about her relationship status, she tells them that she’s committed to racing and doesn’t have time for a relationship. i like to think she’d get reallly popular because she’s so pretty like as soon as she starts winning races and working her way up the ranks, everyone wants a piece of her. rumors about her dating her teammates and other drivers or random celebs who liked her posts pop up all the time and she’s always quick to shut them down.

love the idea of her being a bit of an influencer like her instagram game is on point, perfect matching theme that goes back years. and then suddenly theres a guy on her page and she’s in her soft launch era but she’s a menace so it’s like pictures of the hickeys on his chest while she straddles him. for like a year straight she’s posting raunchy photos of them with their faces cropped out while still being like "yea i don’t have a boyfriend!" but oscar is constantly talking about his girlfriend and how much he loves her. complete opposites.

so then when they're spotted with her hanging off him for days in a row at some weekend long event or a race weekend maybe, people are talking about it online wondering why he's letting her hang off him like that when he's got a girlfriend. people mad at her for trying to ruin his relationship. so many memes about his "girlfriend" seeing it on the tv and crying herself to sleep.

and then, cameras catch her kissing him and immediately it gets so much worse. twitter is trending with their names, everyone is wondering why the hot shot f2 driver is macking on the rookie mclaren driver on international tv when minutes before he was talking about how much he loves his girlfriend in an interview. someone has the balls to confront them but gets so embarrassed when he's like "not that it's any of your business, but this is my girlfriend." and they'd apologize but she's kinda nice for once and tells them they have nothing to apologize for bc literally no one knew! they'd probably do an interview to answer questions ab their secret relationship and she makes sm dirty jokes about him and how everyone is like. shocked by the things she says about him? and he just sits there smiling and blushing.

this is toxic and kinda ab cheating but i like to imagine her crushing on oscar and him having a girlfriend so she gets asked in an interview if she has any crushes or smth and she says him. the interviewer is like “aw well too bad he’s got a girlfriend!” and she just says “okay and? he can call me when they breakup, he has my number.” and it starts sm drama with everyone talking about how hot girls think they can do whatever they want and ruin relationships and blah blah blah. and then his relationship ends bc he doesn't see how it's a problem to just have her number saved in his phone. they'd have talked years before when they raced in the same leagues before he got bumped up faster, so she's just a stranger to him. but girlfriend ends up breaking things off because it becomes a running joke that the woman leading the f2 championship is just waiting for oscar piastri while every one else pines after her. even lando and logan are making jokes ab how ofc its him that she has a crush on, the one guy who has been in a relationship since school.

Chapter Two: Icecream & records

The days went on and I had a normal routine. Get up, get dressed, have breakfast, get on the bus, go to university, do your classes and come home. Except the difference was i had managed to get a job at a café in Wicklow so I was actually getting home much later than I should be doing but as I was in the library studying for upcoming test my new friend Siobhan had an idea. she sat opposite me before saying,

"So you know how u have a job in Wicklow and you go to school in Wicklow..." I raise my eyebrows wondering where this is going

"well my other roomate has just moved out and I was wondering if u wanted to move in, well its just a uni flat but its nice. I know how much u dread those bus rides."

"Thats actually a good idea. But how much will it cost me?" i say.

"Not much. well unless you thing 750 euro is alot but we split it 50/50 and about groceries ill cover that you'd just have to get like personal hygiene stuff, you'd get your own room and its quite spacious and plus I'd like the company" Siobhan says with a soft smile.

"sure that'll be nice. uhh when can I move in?" I say with a small smile not wanting her to feel rushed.

"in a couple of days, so u can pack your things and it'll be the weekend"

"in a couple of days it is" I reply feeling relieved i no longer have to take that damn bus.

A month later I had settled into the uni flat quite nicely I had made a home out of it and was enjoying being able to walk ten minutes to uni.

I was in my history of music class, me , Andrew, and Alex had been good class friends we never spoke to eachother outside of class which I don't mind but we was also in the same music group. I played the violin, Andrew played the guitar and Alex played the piano.

I had gotten back from my job at the café and as I was unpacking my books from my bag I see a piece of paper slide out of the notebook. It was a number scribbled onto the page and the rest read 'call me? :) from;Andrew' I smiled as I looked down at the paper and Siobhan walked in and said "what are you smiling about?" matching my toothy grin.

"Andrew gave me his number" I say still smiling "but I don't know if I'm ready for another relationship I mean he seems like a cool dude but what if he's like all the rest?"

Siobhan sighs then says "well I guess you'll never know unless u call him."

I get ready for bed and I decide to text him. I decide to go onto instagram cause I don't know when he'll reply, but the second I swipe off the app he texts me back.

Friday it is :)

Friday comes around and I was excited I mean I hadn't been on a date in a while and maybe he was different. It was friday morning and I was torn on what I wanted to wear. It was just icecream and a record store but I obviously wasn't going to wear a dress that would make it seems like I was trying to hard. I ended up giving up and wearing a plaid red skirt with a navy raulph lauren jumper with some black mary janes a nice handbag that I burrowed from Siobhan. Nothing that says too desperate but also not too casual.

I walk up to the icecream shop and see that he's already there. Wearing black ripped up jeans with a blue unbuttoned flannel with a grey tank top underneath "hey" i say with a small smile.

"hey," andrew says whilst hugging me and when he pulled back he said "you look nice"

"thanks" I say smiling

We go into the icecream shop and i order a mint choc chip while he opts for a basic vanilla icecream. We were walking to the record store and we was engaging in typical first date talk. How many sibling do u have? what's your favourite meal? who's your celebrity crush?

We go into the record store and I immediately go to the Rhianna section.

"Big Rhianna fan,eh" andrew asks me as he stands nearly a foot above me.

"definitely" I reply looking for her new album that came out

Andrew somehow knew the album i was looking for and he reached up to get it and i see his shirt lift revealing his stomach. I look away immediately and try to distract myself to think of anything else.

"here" Andrew says handing the record to me "didn't this one come out recently? I heard its good"

"good? it only the best album of 2014"

Andrew chuckles at my remark

We pay for the records we got and he walked me back to my flat. "tonight was fun" Andrew says with a small smile on his face

"it was" i reply "i'd like to do this another time if you'd like" i say smiling

"sure I would love that" he says with a slight pink tint on his cheeks

I kiss his cheek before turning on my heels and going into my flat block leaving him bewildered.

Fringe Flower

Flower power contained though it burns so bright, masked machines refrain from unleashing it's might

Masks and voidpunk style characters have been my bread and butter for a decent while now, these really lean into my strengths and interests, and works well for the rather limited time I've had to draw things the last year or so... Its my attempt at drawing what I want to see more of, what I want to see from other people, and to some extent, trying the most challenging art I can so I can see how I can push certain shapes and forms even further

The downside is that while my armour detail gets increasingly more intricate, I've had less time to practice expressions, poses and faces. That kinda stuff tends to be what I really like in other peoples art so I'd be interested in improving it myself... though I'm wary of the fact that sometimes I may appreciate something, while not being passionate of making more of it.

I certainly really like plenty of anime for example, but almost never draw straightforward anime fanart. Theres always so much of myself in there that its hard for it to still reflect the original characters

Other stuff like my creature (like, monsters, not humanoids), vehicle, or landscape design are a bit left behind as well, but I've somehow excused myself on those, you can't do absolutely everything after all, and I have enough elements of the first two in my current pictures that it feels like if I want to, I can make a pivot to pieces about those with elements form my current art

On my instagram, which is the best archive of my art as the moment (as I rarely delete art there), the earliest post is on the 27th of January 2020, so I will soon hit three years of consistently making art, so the thought of how to take things further and give a sort of "signature" to my progress has been on my mind a bit more I suppose.

Perhaps this post highlights some of my thinking in more detail, but I'm doing all of this with the understanding that making art at all is at least some minor progress, rather than not making art, where its almost like the work is stalled.

i made a post a bit ago before the reddit black out even happened, talking about how many AI written articles i find when searching for answers on stuff- usually things a little more specific (questions for video games, tech, everyday things but more specific to you, etc. not just "what city is this state in"). its bad- i basically get that or i get reddit threads when i google. and before the reddit black out, i hadnt thought too much about how those AI threads would be.... the only thing left behind if i didnt have reddit. still i watched the reddit black out live, i watched /r/funny go private at midnight. and yet it didnt really hit the importance of reddit until i went on the next day looking for help on a mac laptop i was restoring and realized all the reddits i checked were private. needing mod help for my server, all private. searching reddit for a game i couldnt remember, private.

theres a lot on the internet that needs to be preserved, kept alive, kept relevant. over and over i see people reminisce on old forums and how theyre gone and be brought back- and i think no ones follows through with the format because places like reddit at least fulfill that to some extent. staying with the mainstream is easier and its understandable, bc its relevant and trying to start up your little forum and advertise it isnt easy. Reddit being mainstream becomes the useful google option for a niche forum subject without being a lone forum you probably wont find in typical google search.

and now Reddit isn't available. the most mainstream iteration of those lovely little forums of discussion and support is not available. does it hit now? does it sink in now how bad this is? the past year- maybe even less than a year- has been so so chaotic and bad for the internet. instagram starting turning into tiktok a while back with its changes to feed and format. youtube has slowly followed suit with forcing short's as more relevant for creators than normal videos. twitter did... well, all of That, a lot of Things. Reddit goes along to make their API paid for. Discord turning to the methods on social media, with username changes and more. tumblr is also shifting so much of their entire deal, i think you should all be prepared for tumblr to become unrecognizable too because theres many hints of it happening- some already here.

when i made my personal website over a year ago, it was partially fun but it was a statement for myself too. it was recognition that social media had become unhealthy for me, and i didnt like how it was The thing that existed now, and that bigs corps suddenly taking more and more control of the web was bad and not something i wanted to be stuck with. but suddenly its not just a gentle step to the side i have taken, still knowing i can be on social media to see my friends and build an audience. but now it feels more like all the walls are crumbling around me, and soon i will have no choice but to jump ship entirely. i went from one, to the other, to tumblr where i had always been- the one site that stuck out from the others at least. had an 'old' format. in many ways you need social media.... because its how you made your friends, its how you stay in touch, its how communities get built these days!!

we can try to move back to the independent, the personal sites, the forums, but we all know its not easy. thats truth. its not going to spread as far as we'd hope, many will not follow suit or not know they can. i can only imagine all the old, tech unaware people who will continue to use the internet, never realizing why they struggle to get info or unknowingly follow nonsense AI articles, and have no idea that anything exists outside of the bubble theyre forced into. Not even the old people, but the young generations that will grow into that too and not get out of it.

im just waiting for the mainstream internet to just become entirely unusable from our perspective and its dreadful to me. trying not to be a doomer but i dont think its something you cant ignore when something as simple as googling slightly more specific questions brings nothing but AI nonsense articles or reddit posts and when one of those massive and only relevant sources is down, there is suddenly nothing.

Examining How I Use The Internet

Prompted by this page I’ve realised I’m doing a lot of mindless scrolling and procrastinating a lot with the internet. Time to fix that. Mari Kondo’ing this shit.

Reddit: I mindlessly scroll and always gravitate to drama subs like AITA, which just depresses the life out of me and drags me into negativity. 

Solution: Block the bad subreddits with stayfree and use it to put a limit on how much time I spend on there, so I can still access useful and informative subreddits but not doomscroll. Stayfree did heehaw but I found a simple extension that blocked the subreddits and then used Ublock to hide popular posts so basically it’s just my specific feed now. Win!

Tumblr: I also mindlessly scroll here, albeit less. Sometimes on instinct I feel the need to put on a persona or post certain things or overly clarify things to appease spectators I’ve crafted in my head or feel a need to perform. Makes using this site stressful.

Solution: Remind myself this tumblr is my digital journal and while I’m open to making friends this is not something I’m doing to get clout. I am here to collect, learn and explore. 

Twitter: I rarely go on it anymore, and I just don’t like it. The only things that were on it that I liked were cute and cozy aesthetic accounts, but even then nah.

Solution: Delete it. Twitter gone woo crab rave

Discord: I use it the most to talk directly to irl and online friends, have a bookclub and get updates on random stuff. Sometimes it feels like a void.

Solution: ?? Need it to talk to friends. Just meditate or smth. Like tumblr, don’t feel the need to perfom or put on a persona. Vibe only.

Youtube: Also started procrastinating by going on there with the intention to watch this One Specific video and then I’m on the 4th Im Skylar White Yo lego video. 

Solution: See if there’s something that can block the yt homepage and just see subscriptions or smth. ABSOLUTE UBLOCK W HOW IS THIS SO EASY AND I NEVER KNEW?!

Emails: I’m scared to even touch my gmails bc of the amount of spam mail I’ve accumulated since I was 8.

Solution: Buckle up and start unsubscribing to junk mail and clearing them out THEN switch from gmail to literally anything. Done techgirl email

Internet In General: I think I use a decent not centralized browser. I use yt adblock like a champ. But I really need to go over security notes, find a vpn, make sure this browser is cool, download that torrent browser thing sometime. 

Solution: Find vpn, get torrent browser thing, use throw away emails or card info.

I also generally feel like I have to put on a performance. Is this down to that one time I was a microceleb in this one niche shitty instagram community? Maybe. Theres a voice at the back of my head like “Will this get notes? Will people laugh at this? Does this fit? Will this slightly put someone off?” and its exhausting because I’m not here to get clout I’m just wanting to chill!! I do however want to make friends and meet like-minded folks, don’t wanna create an echo chamber for myself. Hm...

Solution: Recognise this behaviour, the thoughts. Listen to them, deconstruct them, let them pass. Do this constantly. Do not engage them or let them influence you. (realising this sounds like some spc lmao)

I sometimes skip posts with hardly any upvotes or notes because unconciously Im only paying attention to bigger posts. This means I miss out on tons.

Solution: Use good ol ublock to hide note and upvote elements.

Spotify: Love music. Like the spotify wrapped thing. Hate spotify, it is evil company. I don’t even pay for it thanks to my bestie. But...

Solution: Compile music elsewhere (where ?)

Instagram: I’m not actually active on it, I just still have it bc it has tons of cool anime edits I’ve saved over the years. But I hate zuckergram.

Solution: Export the sick edits and delete zuckergram. I will do this on my phone.

Compared to a year ago I’m much more aware of how I’m using the internet. My phone usage is down to nilch, it’s almost like I never spent 16 hours a day on instagram straight as a kid.

Having a path still ahead to walk down doesn’t negate the mountain I climbed before.

The sites I use most are Reddit, YT, Tumblr, Discord. Thats four I’ve whittled it down to, which is actually an ok number, not too bad. One for solitary reading, one for spooks and funny videos, one for semi solitary blogging, one for communication.

Should come back to this later and re-examine things and not forget to do these things.

popularity does exist in tumblr but its not guided by how many followers you have it is based on the amount of asks you probably get and the metric of it is that youll get some insane asks in here if you Just Wait, from invasive questions to people asking you what do you think of the death penalty in america when you have a blog about My Hero Academia , to bait questions or copypastas that been passed for half a decade about an user called Amegaotaku that youll have to research to even understand what the hell it means . "Popular" people of tumblr can remake their blogs constantly but what matters is that you have people who Wont Shut Up and engage conversation with you, especially through asks, when people want your attention, theyll probably send you an ask.

this doesnt happen as often as it did in the mid 2010s but embarassing yourselves in public is incredibly easy in this site if you Throw Yourself to the wolves, as in , you impulsively add onto a conversation with an addition thats often done emotionally, carelessly, or literally misinterpreting the intent of a post itself because you took it personally. this literally never goes well especially if you engaged with a post from an user who has Very reactive followers, because while i doubt youll get threats or such, youll still probably get hounded in the replies and this site´s social rules are extremely lax with the words you are allowed to say. While a whole "we need to be kind to eachother" approach IS the reasonable solution, it is much better to not engage with innocous posts that piss you off if you are aware that the average tumblr user doesnt have any tact whatsoever and is bloodthirsty for a punching bag, they are mostly teens after all, and adults that dont have positive social role models. Screenshot the post that pisses you off and talk about it in your own new post to discuss it with your actual fellow people.

if youre gonna be interested in interacting with posts relating to race, politics, gender or such, be expected to at least list your race and gender (or whether youre exempt from transmisogyny or not) , encroaching into intracommunity issues and trying to add or say anything when its none of your business or you literally dont know what it entails is not wise. also posts and listings about how to "listen to (insert marginalized group)! " from teenagers are really unneded here because theres already so many in depth resource posts in here made by qualified activists, historians, researchers and more, and they been shared for years, or twitter/instagram posts have been literally just regurgitating stuff from HERE. NOTE: i reccomend making sideblogs for this stuff, NOT DISCOURSE BLOGS but just sideblogs where youre not just mixing Supernatural posting and Protest Bills for 2023 , or better, keep all your political talk and engagement in your main blog and use a sideblog for fandom, if you get enough followers in any of these your reach for important posts can be bigger, thats why i reblog donation posts or commission posts in here at times.

PART 1

It all started when Geo left the server he created, he told us that he isn't in the fandom anymore and trying to move on from it. Were like ok have fun with ur new fandom (although we were very confused cuz he still post jamilton/hamilton content but think nothing of it)

Until one day out of the blue i found out im blocked including some of us in the server. I was confused and shocked at first cuz why would u do that? Did i do something wrong? (theres a lot of that in this relationship and if u think its tiring trust me its worse)

I only got an "explanation" from a mutual friend of ours that he did this to cut ties and properly move on, so I connected to him in Instagram (cuz he haven't block me there) and ask for an explanation which was again along the lines "they wanna move on and do different things" i was like ok (even though its a douche move of him to just drop me without explaining it directly to me) I said my last goodbye and that was that. Well so i have though cuz he keeps messaging me still everyday even go as far creating a gc with me in it, which was weird considering he wanted to move on but think nothing of it.

Until allie spoke out about how geo was an awful person to him. And well i thought Geo was only saying mean shit behind their backs ig he also do it right in front of their faces.

Its mostly in Filipino but its basically Geo saying how allie was annoying him just because allie disagreed with him and instead of talking to Allie (which i was urging him to do but refuses cuz he said and i quote "Dont u want that theres drama?" "Ur making everyone tense" "good") about it he made a comment for the entire server to see and it made us all uncomfortable.

Sooner or later a lot of people are speaking about the stuff Geo has done and said to them ( a lot of backstabbing, trash talking all because we have disagreed with something he says)

Example me saying "Oh i hc Thomas wearing dresses but thats ok too" he got so mad about that comment and put me on time out and forced me to apologize and blocked me

And so we all agreed that he was a bad person after all the things he put us through. We had a DC game night we had sm fun and we played gartic and well...

YES oh my god it makes me insane. i love older books/literature, especially victorian-era lit. and sometimes i’ll see someone talking about racism in a work, and it starts out fine, and then the second paragraph in it’s like “oh you think this is good actually. well shit.”

or even just people posting quotes! and then i look at their account and they’ve got the worst values and opinions known to man. augh.

it sucks!!! why cant you all be normal and stop making me look bad!!!! ive been really into calligraphy for the past like. idk 2 years? year and a half? and for some reason SO MANY CALLIGRAPHERS are like. SUPER christian. i dont have a problem with christians generally (i was raised Catholic and still feel kind of attached to it overall, for cultural/heritage reasons) but like. i only fuck with weird queer christians. and its really jarring when ill be scrolling through instagram and see some beautiful benign calligraphy pieces and then suddenly you see one thats like "God said gay people are yucky!" in beautiful calligraphy. (ok its not THAT blatant but. well i found out one of the people i followed was really into Matt Walsh, which is why i kept getting ads for him. Yuck!)

and it also sucks because so many of these things have such an association with being the hobbyhorse of a bunch of the worst most exhausting people you can imagine that i see a lot of people implying that you MUST be one of them if you like that thing. that liking history or w/e is a red flag, and only cishet white men would ever find anything of value in an old book and only weird conservative snobs like fountain pens or good leather shoes and only fascists would be interested in The Past.

and that sucks!!! i dont like people from either side implying im a conservative because i like history!!! im not going to laud the racism in these old texts because... racism is bad?? but im also not going to totally dismiss everything from before. idk some arbitrary recent year. as being inherently bad because people were racist then. sometimes putting things in historical context enriches them! sometimes reading stuff from the past enriches you!!!
