the thing about "callout/cancel culture" that convinced me it's rotten to the core is the dehumanisation you face once you become the subject of a campaign like that. a lot of criticisms of callout/cancellation attempts appeal to the humanity of the subject, pointing out that it's unfair and unproductive to treat a person, a fellow human being, regardless of how much harm they've caused and how genuinely unlikable they are, like that. but unfortunately the reality of being the target of a mob mentality often means facing the very isolating and traumatising experience of realising that you've ceased to exist as a person in their eyes. you're a representation of your transgressions, an embodiment of harm that needs to be erased like a blemish, a spectacle for entertainment, a means of earning social approval by publicly condemning and humiliating you in what quickly becomes a competition to see who can strike the blow that knocks you down so you never get up again. nobody cares about who you are outside of what you did. people make mistakes and hurt one another, but there is always the capacity for change, for regret and reparations. you are an irredeemable monster. you can't change. the only way to make sure you can't cause harm ever again is to neutralise you entirely. to drive you off and hurt you so badly that you never consider coming back. and it often succeeds. but it doesn't make the world a better or safer place. it just tells everyone that certain behaviours will be punished, so you should conceal them, and harshly condemn them in others so that everyone knows where you stand; nobody will stand up for you if you're accused and brought out for judgement, so you shouldn't trust anyone, and always be on the lookout to take them down before they can do the same to you. you're not creating a safe, welcoming community. you're creating a panopticon built on fear and punishment.

Really not a fan of Cheum telling Ray off for treating her and Boston like third wheels when she's been treating everyone like a third wheel to her and Mew's friendship. She was literally telling Boston to leave because she didn't want him there 5 minutes ago but now that she needs him to throw in someone's face, she's friends with him again. I have no sympathy for that.

"Jason isn't the only one to die and return from the dead. He's not special, so he shouldn't be treated as special. He's not the first, and he's not the last."
"How could Bruce ever anticipate that Jason would return from the dead? Bruce coped how he needed to. The dead aren't supposed to judge how the living treat their memory."
🗣️📣 You can't pick both.

Every time I think about Neth I want to eat my hands.,,.. even accounting for his troubles Oltyx King was No Good Incredibly Fucking Terrible to that dude!!! It's maddening because Neth triggers Oltyx's compassion almost as often as Yenekh does, Oltyx just feels inherently entitled to treat him like dirt because 1) Neth's station is lowly, 2) his engrams are degraded, and 3) he's a constant reminder of Sedh which Oltyx holds three centuries' worth of rage about. Oltyx finds the idea Neth achieving anything ridiculous, even reading this contempt into other people's reactions (e.g. 'Pakhet’s razor-edged faceplate did not even twitch in the degraded old soldier’s direction'), and acts like every good thing Neth does is against expectations (e.g. 'Neth had only underperformed slightly', 'even Neth had managed to contribute'). Oltyx fundamentally refuses to believe in this man because he can't face what Neth represents in his broken mind: his exile, then the loss of hope for his dynasty. When in reality, every other word out of Neth is hope!
Sure, deep down Oltyx doesn't feel great about treating Neth that way. He does find merit in Neth if he's allowed to think about it, and ultimately, Neth's end was a choice Neth himself made. But if every positive thought you've had about someone only appeared in hindsight, and if you never expressed said thoughts before that person was gone, that's a bell you can never unring. You only get so many honest loyal supporters with no blood pit in their closets in TDK, and in a world where said blood pit supporters are the best you have, to not do right by someone like Neth is an injustice. Neth was designed to be a morality pet and yet could not be saved and got plasma blasted for his trouble 😭😭😭

My goals for 2024 (for tumblr)
1. Reblog a lot (because it helps other people)
2. Comment on posts more (because as an author I know others would appreciate it a lot)
3. Finish my Bang fic (which hopefully will drop feb 11th)
4. Make more mutuals on here
Sure… basically the entire list is just being an active member but I’ve kind of realized that I could be doing a lot more to help spread deserving posts just by interacting and doing reblogs.
Now for my personal goal list
1. Get bitches

I was talking to my sister the other day about love languages and how for me, I rank low on Acts of Service and I was thinking how that like... portrays me as a selfish person. At least that's how I perceive it.
From a young age, I was taught that a good person does things for others. That a good person is self-sacrificing and always willing to help. However, while I was supposed to treat other people like that, I was never treated like that in return. Growing up, I remember having to do everything myself. Though my siblings were given help, that was a luxury never given to me. If I want something, I have to fight for it. I have to do it all myself. I'm not allowed help.
Being raised like that made me despise the idea of acts of service. To do things on your own is to grow as a person. You learn, you adapt, you improve. The more you help and baby someone, the more you hinder them. But it's also made me way more stingy with my time. I'm spending all of my time doing everything on my own that I don't have the time to work in the service of others. I want to spend my free time for me. I've done so much work already. Let me be lazy. Let me be selfish. I deserve it, don't I?
The worst part about people that rank high in acts of service is that they're so transactional about it. They act with the expectation that you'll act in return. They set themselves up for failure. They cannot comprehend that other people don't rank highly in it, so they'll use their acts of service to hold people hostage through guilt tripping, etc. "I did this for you, so why aren't you doing it for me?" It's a disgusting mindset that I absolutely hate. I hate it when people use this thinking against me to force me to act in a specific way.
Okay I got distracted with that last paragraph, but the fact that I don't rank high in acts of service often makes me feel guilty from time to time. I don't want to do things for others, even in my family. I don't want to. I'm selfish. I don't want to give up my time for them. I don't see the point in doing things for them out of my goodwill. I should be that way. I should be better. But I'm not. And I don't want to be.

The only language studying advice I’ve got that matters much, as in isn’t take or leave (because most advice really depends on the person and their preferences for how to study), is this:
if you study for enough cumulative hours, and are regularly spending study time on some new material that is requiring you to learn something (compared to picking 1 study material and reviewing it but never ever moving onto a new material with unknowns you must learn), you will make progress.
Most people, eventually, will move onto studying something regularly challenging them with new material to learn. Usually when they realize they weren’t learning anything new long enough. (I’m a perfectionist so I perhaps realize slower than some people when I’m reviewing material to the point of refusing to move onto new challenging material that would provide more to new stuff to learn). So for the most part, as long as you just study Enough Hours, you will eventually make progress.
There’s no fancy perfect or ‘better’ study method. Maybe there is for you personally. So it could be fun to explore various study methods. But in the end it mostly comes down to time spent studying. So WHATEVER study methods are ones you can do, and keep getting yourself to do, are the BEST ones for you to make progress with. (And its fine to change study methods if it gets you to KEEP studying). Because in the end, its going to be hundreds or thousands of hours you just need to spend reviewing what you’ve learned by practicing with it, and studying new stuff to increase what you know.
People like to argue sometimes that textbook study is best, or classroom study, or tutors, or immersion, flashcards, mnemonics, context learning, drills, audio lessons, etc. Pick whatever you can stick to, change it if you realize now you can get yourself to Do something else easier. If textbooks are something you get yourself to do, then do them. If you refuse to open textbooks you buy, then use something you WILL use more often. Whatever you pick will work if you put in the study hours.
TLDR: the best study methods for YOU are the ones you will do, because the amount of total study time you put in is the biggest thing influencing if you make progress.
Don’t worry too much about if your study method is perfect or if another would be ‘better.’ If you feel like switching it up, have fun. If you feel a method you’d hate looks effective, if you won’t do it then it wouldn’t be effective anyway.
*Note: if you have perfectionist tendencies or tend to stick to trying to master current materials (my worst tendency), my personal suggestion is maybe try to make sure 50% of your study time is spent on something containing Something new and challenging. To make sure you’re regularly making some progress in learning new material. (Examples: if you have read a graded reader then listening to the audiobook would provide at least 1 new thing to challenge yourself and learn - listening skills of those words you read, if you find a new novel chapter with mostly known words but a few new ones - it has some new words to learn and new sentences combinations of words you know, if you are listening to review of something you entirely know and can comprehend in listening then consider trying to shadow the audio so you can challenge yourself with new pronunciation practice, and of course stuff like reading a book/watching a show with a bunch of new words or having a conversation in a new topic would contain new challenging material to learn).

My toxic trait is thinking I'll make animatics, come up with all these thoughts for animatics, and then never do them out of being overwhelmed of where to start 😂
We have:
Corrupted Rakan , Redeemed Xayah, Ahri, and their old/new team with F.lorence and the Machine's " No Light, No Light "
Scott and Cat with The G.reatest Showman's " Rewrite the Stars"
Alina singing W.icked's 'No Good Deed" while Douxie needs help
Then we have Douxie and Arch taking down a pack of demons in a destroyed village under the song 'Swords Crossed' From P.irates of the Caribbean, C.urse of the black pearl.
And then Aggie with neoni's 'darkside' or f.lorence and the machine's 'W.hich Witch"
