"Brewing Whimsy"

The witch boy represents my realism/ethereal side of my style holding a bottle of bubbling “Whimsy” to see what he creates from it! Been exploring different executions over the weekend and I’m excited to explore some playful proportions and let these Drawtober monster prompts come to life! 🎃Also, there is a story I once heard of a sorcerer breaking a twig from a flowering tree that had only buds on it. When mixing the brew, they knew when the spell was complete when the buds would bloom! I’ve always loved this idea and been waiting for a drawing to capture that concept!

So let’s see what this cauldron brews over in October!

Cryptids & Creatures of Folklore Drawtober Day 20 — The Crosswick Monster

In May of 1882, two young boys named Ed and Joe Lynch were fishing in a creek in the woods of a small village called Crosswicks near Waynesville, Ohio when they were attacked by a terrifying creature. It was described as snake-like (and also lizard or salamander-like) but had four legs and used the rear two legs to run. It was black and white with large yellow spots, had a long forked tongue, and was about thirty feet in length.

The creature snatched up one of the boys and tried to drag him into the hollow of an enormous gum tree but the boys' screams attracted the attention of three men who had been working nearby. When the creature saw the men approaching it dropped the boy and disappeared into the tree. The men left with the children to get medical attention for the badly injured boy but they later returned with a group of sixty men, dogs, clubs, and axes to cut down the tree.

As the tree started to come down, the creature made its escape. Many of the men and dogs were too terrified to pursue it but those that did witnessed it running as fast as a racehorse on its two hind legs and using its long tail for balance. It leapt over but knocked down a rail fence, then ran on for about a mile until it disappeared into a cave in a hillside.

DRAWTOBER #17 - Gay Tension! At The Work Mandated Gala by 3musketears

Phoenix’s heart is pounding when Edgeworth lifts his hand, but then he hesitates. In that moment of pause, Phoenix sees years of pressure weighing him down. Miles cried over folding a bad paper crane when he still had the father he idolized to tell him it was okay. Then he was fighting to be good enough in every aspect of his life, not even to be accepted, but to avoid being rebuked. It’s okay, Phoenix wants to say. Not as a platitude but an assertion. They’re not going to be very good dancers and that’s okay. Phoenix shoves past his own fear, past that nagging voice telling him to accept rejection. If he puts himself out there to be judged, silly and trivial as his fears may be, then maybe he’ll show Edgeworth how to do that too. “Can I have this dance?” *** Maya wants to be Franziska's plus one to the annual Policeman's Ball, which would leave Edgeworth without someone to keep him company through an event he's been dreading. If only there was a spiky haired defense attorney with no life who could do it...

this fic is absolutely freakin delightful and hilarious. not only does it give a fantastic Phoenix and Maya sibling dynamic (as illustrated) but a beautiful Wrightworth relationship that blossoms during "lawyer prom" - obviously, given who is involved, everything goes wrong and ridiculous shenanigans happen, but... at least there are no murders! I really like the way this author explores Edgeworth and, by extension, Wrightworth, and it's all over a fun and super sweet fic for a dreary october day.

A Very Harry Drawtober | Day 4: Possession

First one I decide to do and I'm already late for posting @basiatlu October prompts🥲

I actually had a story idea that fit the prompt already written out before I even knew this was a prompt, but I ramble so sorry in advance:

Harry finally decides to throw a Halloween party for the first time at Grimmauld Place (a couple days before actual Halloween for obvious reasons).

Everyone figures it actually works out because there's suppose to be a cool blood moon that night anyway so it fits the vibe

It's only suppose to be a friends only event, but quickly divulges into a whole extravaganza with everyone just "having to invite this person" or "you have to meet my friends from level 8 at the ministry Harry, they're hilarious"

Harry agrees because he still has a hard time saying no to his friends

He even invites Draco and the other Slytherins since everyone has been pretty chill with each other over the years recently.

And they actually show up!

Harry totally isn't more enthusiastic and persistent about inviting them because he knows Draco will be more likely to say yes if they show up.

And its not because him and Malfoy have been dancing around each other since 8th year and will find any excuse to talk to the other instead of just simply being adults and admitting to WANTING to talk to one another.

This would also be the first time Draco has stepped foot in Grimmauld Place since he was very very little.

Well a malevolent old family spirit who hates Harry's guts and wants him gone decides to posses Malfoy when him and Harry sneak up to the attic to talk and stuff

Draco had been feeling off and ill since the moment he stepped in the house but just chocked it up to being nervous with all the people

Recognizing Draco as a proper heir to the House of Black, it begins to target him specifically throughout the night. That paired with the convenient blood moon going on leads the spirit to take over Draco rather easily.

The spirit goes from wanting to just kick everyone out to finally feeling magic once again after centuries and wanting to keep Draco's body and become a super powerful wizard again yada yada yada.

The whole story is spent with the old 8th Year gang trying to get people out before the spirt kills them while also trying to keep the spirit in so they can actually dispel it

Like I said I have a whole plot line written up and maybe ill just have other prompts connect to it idk just yet, thank you for listening to my Ted Talk💃

Who: Hi I'm Anisa and I'm feral for feudal fairy tales :)　

What: Drawtober is a label for a project that comprised of a theme, and a list of ideas. If you wanna see the thoughts behind those themes, I've attached some meta notes over on AO3. For nifty purposes.

When: Right now. I've also taken the liberty of compliling my 2023 Pride Month series in a similar format, and will likely continue to do so whenever the urge strikes/the shoe fits.

Where: Specifically on my Artnisa pseudoname. Previously, this was exclusive to collabs where I was the arteest and had no hand in the writing. I may choose to shift gears somewhere down the line, but for now, that's where they'll be.

Why: Fandom, as a contruct, is ever-changing, and Tumblr, the frontline of such a construct, is doing the most to kill desktop navigation whilst speed-running the Focus Theft Race; pair that with a testy search function, ever-evolving "porn bots" sniping tag usability, it can be a 'mare finding fanworks out there, in the Tumblr dot com wilds, let alone attempting to create some form of personal archive in the comfort of your own blog. So, as the Internet shifts, like all cultures do, it feels high time to start archiving properly. On the archive. For posterity and such.

How: Laughable that the only mention of this guide on Tumblr exists in the form of a button on the aformentioned desktop navigation, but here's a beginner friendly tutorial on how to add images to AO3 for any writers/artists that would like to learn how to do so. Plus some other fun stuff in and around it. Of course :D

Bonus Fun Fact: There's a black & white image under each post, though I added no context. When I'm done with something that toes the semi-realism lines like this lot, I like to turn RGB off to see how my values (light and shadows, essentially) turned out. I paint in colour, so seeing that the light was Just Right when said colour is no longer there to lean on is like a little reward. I just think they're neat. Thank you :)

Decided to draw the portal cores (+ Doug) as Pokemon gym leaders! (Yes this is based off the portal drawtober prompt I posted not too long ago)

THE CONTEXT

Fun facts about each gym leader under the “read more”:

Candice likes to ask a lot of questions. She is also easily distracted. Prepare to potentially repeat your answers multiple times when speaking with her.

Rick is one of her favorite people, since he is more than happy to repeat his tall tales of adventures he’s been on.

Colette doesn’t speak much. She will usually respond with grunts. She is tiny and full of rage.

Morgana doesn’t speak much either, but she’s much sweeter. She will happily lend an ear if you need to let things off your chest.

Morgana is a genuine psychic with very weak telekinesis. The most she can lift is Pokemon and people on the lighter side. She will never intrude on someone’s mind unless they consent.

She did read Glados’s mind once. Never again.

Ingrid has a cold personality, which is fitting when you consider the types of pokemon she uses. Despite this, she has a deep love for sweets and baking. She and Candice tend to bond over this.

Craig and Ingrid are twins. Wheatley is their cousin.

Craig is slightly less aloof than Ingrid, though not by much.

As kids, Craig and Rick were rivals. Now they’re coworkers. They don’t get along too well, but will work together when the situation calls for it.

Rick loves the ladies. Whether or not the ladies love him back is up for debate.

Rick actually does treasure his friendship with Candice. She is one of the few people he’s completely honest with. Her, as well as another guy with pink eyes…

Rick likes to mess with Wheatley. He thinks it’s funny. The feeling is not mutual.

Doug has worked at Aperture the longest. The rest of his coworkers tend to look up to him because of that, which can make him nervous.

As for being a gym leader, Doug became one at the same time as the others.

Doug is one the very few Glados confides in.

Neil loves space. Neil wants to go to space. Neil will not stop talking about space. Space. Spaaaaaace

Neil’s parents gave him the astronaut suit. He stitched on all of the stars himself. He almost never takes it off. Only for the big boss lady will he take it off. She’s scary.

Spooky Shiny Season

Hi Trainers! It’s that season where we all bring in the harvest and shut our doors against the cold of the wind. Well, unless you’re shiny hunting! Today I’m going over my notes for an awesome tribute shiny hunt I put together in honor of my wife’s Drawtober comic! She’s been doing them every year for four years. If you haven’t ever had the pleasure of reading them I encourage you to check them out here (this links to the first comic of the first year).

Introduced in the first year is a little Phantump friend, who we will be hunting today. Sometimes you can’t wait for an outbreak to get your shiny, especially if you want to time your hunt for a gift or event. With some clever thinking though, you can use a specific area and a well timed sandwich to help along your odds.

I found a spooky place in Kitakami that spawned Phantump along with a lot of other spooky Pokemon! The difference between Phantump and the other spooky Pokemon in the area is that Phantump is a GRASS type along with being a GHOST type Pokemon. To encourage more to the area, we needed a grass type shiny sandwich. Remember trainers, when your sandwich gets so big that putting the top bun on it will make a mess, just make it open faced and toss that top bun away! It will be just as effective.

It took all night and the Phantump don’t come to the area as quickly as when there is an outbreak but come dawn my Phantump were still around (Phantump are one of the handful of GHOST type Pokemon that will come out in daytime and nighttime). It was only a matter of time until we found her, noticeable even in daytime by her bleached white bark!

Phantump put up quite the fight and even tried to take my lead Pokémon, my fearless Talonflame Firen, down with her! After many tries to get her in a premier ball (my wife’s favorite), she finally settled into her new home.

Now is a great time to hunt for Phantump as sightings for these, Drifloon, Greavard, and Mimikyu with the Crafty Mark have increased with the coming of the spooky season! Look for the sparkling gold marks on your map, make a shiny ghost sandwich and find your spooky shiny! Stay shiny, everyone! ✨

"No idea how it got here, Boss. Wasn't here when we closed up shop last night, now it's here. Got the crew looking through the thing, and there's a lotta damage on the left fore and rear thrusters, that whole arm frame is destroyed, the nav system is dead, heck, most electronics on the thing is dead."

"Any clues who the pilot was?"

"Nada. Kia did notice the ship's tracking beacon was dismantled though."

"Dismantled?"

"Yeah, that thing should be able to withstand the whole ship blowing up."

"Probably good news. No beacon means nobody's coming to claim it. Break it apart, get rid of any serial numbers you find."

"What if the pilot comes back for the ship, Boss?"

"What ship? We only got parts here."

"Gotcha Boss. Oi! Everyone! Get your tools, we're scrapping the ship for parts!"

"Wait, hush. Did you hear that?"

"Hear what, Boss?"

"...think something moved in the trash over there."

"Probably orloni again, Boss. Think it's breeding season again. I'll order more traps."

"Flark the traps, just get the poison. Worked last time."

"Will do, Boss."
