Can I request headcanons for Hubert Felix Ashe and Ignatz being shy around female Byleth separately?

All of this is pre time skip (as I don't write for post time skip Hubert)! I'm writing this as some sort of a puppy-crush thing and it's one-sided!

He's completely charmed by her face expressions. Her lack of reaction is cute... But getting her off guard is even better.

He's not the kind to be lost for words, he just tries his best to unsettle her in order to make her leave him alone so he can calm down a little.

But if it fails he always has plenty of reasons to leave. And he's not hesitant to use his excuses to avoid the professor.

Once she sees him, then she doesn't. He's in control of when they meet and he makes sure to always be ready just in case.

Ignatz Victor

Her grace is the attribute that makes him ever so less confident around her. Even though he was already intimidated to begin with.

The way she moved, talked, hell even yawned all was like looking at a goddess! Even her imperfections were perfect.

So he didn't really talk to her when she wasn't the one to approach him. He preferred to admire her from the distance.

You can probably imagine but he'd be totally lying if he said he never sketched her during a lecture. He never made it into a painting... But looking at Byleth sure inspired him as to how a goddess he imagines looks like.

Felix Hugo Fraldarius

Her strength is the key factor of him missing his words. Earning respect from your dream opponent is something he definitely wants to achieve.

He insults her like it's nothing, he's straightforward- but sometimes he himself doesn't know what he's thinking.

Asking for advice was a big no to him. He only wanted to adjust his mistakes by practice.

So having her fix his posture, or anything really made him lose his focus for so many reasons... That of which he wasn't aware of.

Ashe Ubert

Her being so helpful is perhaps one of the things he admires the most. She's so thoughtful and always makes time for everyone.

To himself he translates this feeling as total admiration and a reason why he'd like to be just like her.

So while being at a receiving end of her gestures is amazing... He often finds himself unable to think of a way to react to her kindness.

He always tries to be available to her too... But it's rare for her to reach out... Sometimes it motivates him to check up on her by himself! There's nothing wrong with looking excuses to being around her, right?

Edited version of the Meirika (Eirika x Mercedes) fic. I edited it while fully awake so there's no more grammatical errors and sentences that don't make sense!!

Amidst the endless battles and conflicts, something within Eirika snapped. Perhaps a fire was blown out or someone had finally figured out how to annihilate one's hope. Whatever it was, she was only a shell.

All the princess could do was fight and command. Even when the war ended, Seth had to drag her by the collar from the training grounds.

"I need to be ready in case someone invades again," Eirika would say when asked why she would spend every waking moment either fighting or thinking of fighting.

It took a lot of convincing, but Seth and Ephraim managed to get her to a famed college an ocean away. During the entire trip, she contemplated turning home.

They might be in danger...

"Eirika, right?" a voice said.

Just then, Eirika was ripped from her own thoughts and she remembered where she was. This was not Renais, not even in Magvel, but some place called 'Garreg Mach', a few weeks by boat away from home.

She sat with a plate before her but she had not touched any of it for her thoughts turned to home the moment she sat down.

The woman in front of her appeared calmer than any face Eirika had seen for months. Long pale blonde hair cascaded down one shoulder while soft blue eyes carefully looked down at her.

"Yes, that's my name," the princess muttered.

"It's a pretty name!" the woman said, before sitting across from her, "I've been curious to meet you since Byleth announced we'd be getting a new classmate, especially since we're already some weeks into the school year!"

Just seeing how she smiled, Eirika could not help but smile as well. In no time, the woman had begun answering dozens of questions that only left Eirika eager to ask more despite her lack of interest in ghost stories or the history of Garreg Mach.

"Oh, but where are my manners!? My name is Mercedes," the woman smiled.

Mercedes... Eirika thought, What a nice name.

"Hey, Erika!" an unwelcome voice called out.

She was en route to the library where Mercedes supposedly was, but wanted to retreat to her room the instant Sylvain called her name.

He all but cornered her in the entrance hall, with that same annoying smirk he always had.

"Why don't you tell me about Magvel over dinner?" he suggested.

"I don't want to" Eirika muttered.

She looked him up and down, analyzing his posture and body. It would not be difficult to take him down where he stood, but she doubted the teachers would take kindly to her breaking a classmate's leg because he was "overly friendly".

"Sylvain," a far more pleasant and welcome voice called.

He glanced back just in time to see Mercedes hold up a staff with a curse of blinding. A light akin to the sun shone in his eyes for just a moment and he recoiled.

"Wh-what's your problem, Mercedes!?" he called out with his eyes shut tight.

Eirika knew better than to look at the light and had closed her eyes. She ran off with Mercedes while Sylvain was still in a blinded daze.

Soon after arriving, Eirika found a new routine. Or rather, she fell back into her old one. Training was interrupted by classes and missions, but for the most part, she could spar to her heart's content.

On Thursdays, the classes would train together. Eirika found she preferred fighting students of the Golden Deer, as Leicester seemed to have the fighting style most similar to any found in Magvel.

Pushing Lorenz to the ground or scaring Ignatz into surrounder was easy when their moves were as predictable as the rising sun.

After the sixth opponent, everything seemed still. She could not hear any sounds until someone tapped on her shoulder.

"That was your third duel in a row, go sit down," Catherine instructed.

"I want to fight more," Eirika murmured.

"You'll be sore till next Thursday if you keep at it, just sit already!"

With unsteady hands, Eirika placed the sword back upon its stand but its clattering was deafeningly loud when it fell. That sound of metal on stone rang in her ears for what felt like an eternity afterwards.

"Eirika!" a voice said.

She nearly snapped her neck to see Mercedes quickly approaching.

"Mercie," she managed a weak smile.

Along with her hearing, her vision seemed to fade.

The blurry silhouette of Mercedes was the last thing she saw.

When she opened her eyes, she was far from the little war tent she had grown used to sleeping in. Beside her was no sword or armor, only Mercedes with a thick book of ghost stories and a contemplative look on her face.

She reached out for Mercedes' hand. The cleric did not notice she had woken up until she very weakly grabbed her wrist.

"You shouldn't be pushing yourself so hard, Eiri," that dear, sugary sweet voice whispered, "Everyone says you only ever fight. You really need to do something else with your time."

Mercedes took her hand and rubbed her thumb along the back of it while they sat in silence. Eirika's head throbbed after she fell and Mercedes knew just how much pain she was in, to try and strike up a conversation now would be akin go torture.

But just then, Eirika whispered something low. It was so quiet Mercedes would not have thought she had spoken at all if her lips had not moved.

"I'm sorry, could you repeat that?" Mercedes murmured.

Eirika, to the best of her abilities in her sorry state, smirked, "Would you kiss me if it would make me spar less?"

Eirika could see all the gears and clockwork in Mercedes' head as her words sunk in. Finally, she put a careful hand on Erika's cheek.

"I shouldn't have to kiss you for you to take care of yourself, Eiri," she sighed.

Eirika was not disappointed by that answer though, because not another moment passed before Mercedes kissed her.

To be fair there's not a single Blue Lions that doesn't have homoromantic subtext in some way- Dedue with Dimitri and Ashe, Annette with Mercedes, all the coding with Ingrid, and I don't think I even need to mention anything for Felix because his ending are some of the most obvious in the whole game. Sylvain is not even just in subtext anymore!! 

As for Sothis there's no way she care about gender anyway- And transfem Arval :0 I really like the story behind the headcanon!

- yes i have few rarepairs but theyre very weird i know xD i like to think sothisxarval would tease each other all the time, also enemies to lovers!! about flayn and shez, i dont have much ships with shez bc i see them much more as aroace, but flayn's supports with f!shez are very funny and i like to think how seteth would react when hearing the two are dating! his brain first goes "thank the goddess my little daughter sister is not dating an ugly and insolent man" then he realizes flayn is getting laid anyway. eheh

- about annette with marianne and bernie: the idea was born when i first wrote the modern!au, because even if the blue lions are my fav characters, i wanted bernadetta and marianne to be there too since i love them so much!! so in my modern!au, they are all in the gardening club at school, and annie became friends with them bc theyre both shy but also sweet, and annette thought "i want to be friends with them!! they deserve to be happy so i want to see them smile!!!!" (in my au, mercedes and annette havent met yet at the beginning of the story). this is how the "chaotic singer becoming friend with depressed sweetheart and anxious writer" idea was born xD

The appeal of the Ignatz x Byleth ship is that it is a form of the Quintessential Fairytale Romance. A gentle and kindhearted boy from humble origins becomes a knight to provide for his family. Against all odds, he wins the heart of the divinely beautiful maiden whose strength on the battlefield is only matched by the strength of her love for her comrades. After defeating evil, they get married and live in perfectly harmonious bliss for the rest of their lives. 

Meanwhile, the appeal of the Yuridetta ship is that they’re both complete disasters, but like, in a very complimentary way. Yuri refuses to admit he’s a disaster. Bernadetta oversells how big of a disaster she is. Yuri is emotionally constipated. Bernadetta feels all the emotions all the time. Yuri is a world-hardened criminal with a truckload of guilt. Bernadetta is afraid of everyone but the world-hardened criminal with a truckload of guilt. Put these two in a fairy tale AU and True Love’s Kiss would be interrupted by Yuri starting out of his enchanted sleep three seconds too early and accidentally headbutting Bernadetta in the chin.

Other stray thoughts from finishing Blue Lions:

Unlocked the Yuri S support. He's on my ❤️ list with Felix and Edelgard and Claude. ... I might have too many ships.

I finally got the Felix and Sylvain paired ending for Blue Lions and understand why people ship him. That's a pretty shipper bait ending.

I accidentally made Flayn Dimitri's queen just by battle supports. I did not mean to do that. I don't actually see it going well

Nice to know Seteth CAN actually take the stick of his ass and make good choices. I don't remember if I've read that ending before.

Mercedes and Dedue have a nice PostScript together though I think the Annette/Dedue scene was probably cuter.

I did get the C-A Felix x Annette supports this time, and I admit theyre cute. I have trouble spinning a deeper story for it like Byleth x Felix or Sylvain x Felix though.

Poor Ashe and Ingrid both accidentally ended up alone. Sorry guys

I want Hapi to be Hapi...

I recruited Petra, Ignatz, Dorothea, and Ignatz this time to avoid killing them, but honestly I did nothing with them and therefore they had very bleh endings.

I have successfully collected some of the Slithers and Duscur and Church lore I was after so hopefully I remember it this time.

Azure Moon still has my least favorite ending. Byleth is this close to running for the hills screaming.

I played a very "pro-Church" Byleth this time to unlock all the content. My canon Byleth still really does NOT like the Church. Or Rhea. Who never got less creepy.

*Ghost and Pals x Hatchetfield*

The main characters are all followers of different Lords in Black! Christopher Pierre(Pokey), Nana(Blinky), Kennith(Wiggly), and my Sona(Nibbly) are the mcs and have a loose sorta friendship. No there is no Tinky follower

Emma has been replaced by Emdroid, and Paul has been replaced by Paul23

Henry Elsner and Hannah Foster are incredibly damn similar. Like to a ridiculous degree. Telepathy and all

Nancy Elsner and Charlotte Sweetly are good friends. Nancy thinks Charlotte should get a divorce(she SHOULD but that’s besides the point)

Frances Elsner moved to Clivesdale

Christopher’s parents suck, so Uncle Wiley adopted him. Also he calls Emdroid and Paul23 “Auntie Emma” and “Uncle Paul” respectively

The survivors are Byleth, Claude, Hilda, Linhardt, Bernadetta, Felix, and Annette. I just couldn’t bring myself to kill Bernie ;-;

Ashe is the only character to die by neither murder nor execution. He dies of an illness he develops after getting clubbed in the head as a distraction while his attacker went to commit murder. He appears to be getting better and in fact comes in useful several times before the illness gets worse without warning and one day Flayn wakes up to realize he’s stopped breathing

Before he died Ashe taught Claude to pick locks

Seteth is being controlled by Rhea at the beginning and is the arbiter of class trials, but when Rhea tries to execute Flayn he betrays her and steps in to stop the execution

He fails and Flayn dies anyway

He joins the students when he realizes how cruel Rhea is

He steps in a second time to stop Byleth’s execution and this time he succeeds, dying in the process

anyway that’s the two I’m most excited abt rn! I hope you liked them!

Vision: Anemo Delusion: Pyro Weapon Type: Sword Region: Sumeru (formerly Snezhnaya) Affiliations: The Akademiya, (formerly the Fatui)

An ex high ranking Fatui officer, Byleth escaped the clutches of the Fatui upon the discovery that their father was killed by one of the Fatui Harbingers (feel free to guess who did it...). Finding easy mercenary work in Sumeru, they worked their way up from an escapee to a trusted hired sword for the Akademiya. On request, they're also willing to teach scholars basic combat. Because of them and their strange, but effective teaching methods, there's unsubstantiated rumours flying around that the Sages are considering the implementation of a new Darshan.

Currently in their possession is the Sword of the Creator, a heroes' relic passed down into their grasp from civilisations of old - an object in which they stole in the midst of their retreat.

Dimitri Alexandre Blaiddyd - ☆☆☆☆☆

Vision: Cryo Weapon Type: Polearm Region: Snezhnaya Affiliations: The Fatui

Adopted by the Tsaritsa under mysterious circumstances, Dimitri was raised in accordance of the Fatui's ideals. Growing up to be a capable fighter, he'd then take on the role as one of the Tsaritsa's military generals and plays a critical role in her personal vanguard. As of now, he is currently on the hunt for traitors of the Fatui, and that just so happens to include a certain professor...

Currently in his possession is Areadbhar, a heroes' relic once wielded by upstanding Khaenri'ahn soldiers. It was given to him by the Tsaritsa.

Edelgard von Hresvelg - ☆☆☆☆☆

Vision: Pyro Weapon Type: Claymore Region: Mondstadt Affiliations: Knights of Favonius, (Khaenri'ah)

Born and raised amidst the Mondstadtian uppercrust, Edelgard has led an uneventful life as a Knight of Favonius. However, beneath this seemingly unshakable visage is a secret that even she is yet to fully grasp. In her spare time, she can often be found surveying ruins, most of which have been prescribed to the ancient civilisation of Khaenri'ah. Her curiosity is sourced by her dissatisfaction with the current ways of Teyvat.

Currently in her possession is Aymr, a heroes' relic that she found on one of her personal expeditions. Even so, she can't help the feeling that its placement, upon being discovered, was notably purposeful.

Claude von Riegan - ☆☆☆☆☆

Vision: Anemo Weapon Type: Bow Region: Sumeru, Fontaine Affiliations: Corps of Thirty, Temple of Silence

A free spirit - Claude takes to new environments well and is rarely seen stationed in one place for too long a time. As a dedicated member of the Corps of Thirty, he maintains Sumeru's security, albeit in his own unique ways. While relations between the Akademiya and the Temple of Silence have improved, he also secretly acts as an undercover agent for the Temple should this bout of trust prove misguided on the Akademiya's part. As of now, he is currently on vacation leave, which he is using to travel around Teyvat. Residing in Fontaine, he is accompanied by one Hilda Valentine Goneril and Lorenz Hellman Gloucestor.

Currently in his possession is Failnaught, a heroes' relic that was gifted to him by his grandfather. Though mysterious, he trusts that he'll wield it well should the time of its use come.

Yuri - ☆☆☆☆☆

Vision: Electro Weapon Type: Sword Region: Inazuma Affiliations: The Shuumatsuban

Like many Shuumatsuban ninjas, Yuri's past is shrouded in mystery, but this fact has never hindered him from his job. Specialising in undercover work and assassinations, Yuri is thorough while maintaining a casual air that would ease many away from suspicion. Even so, there is a part of him that yearns for a better life for him and his fellow ninjas.

Currently in his possession is the Fetters of Dromi, a heroes' relic that was salvaged from Fatui supplies on one of his missions. While its use is unknown to him, he keeps it close in the case that it one day becomes useful.

Seteth and Flayn - ☆☆☆☆☆

Vision: Geo and Anemo, respectively Weapon Type: Polearm and Catalyst, respectively Region: Fontaine, (formerly Liyue) Affiliations: Adepti

In the wake of Rex Lapis' death, Seteth and Flayn took to travelling, which eventually led them to Fontaine. In the current day and age, they live a quiet life in the Fontainean countryside, caring for the surrounding wildlife and tending to their farm. In the past, however, Seteth and Flayn were devout Adepti who fought by Rex Lapis' side during the Archon War.

While not much has occurred in the peaceful life they currently lead, Seteth senses an incoming global change. Any measures made to further seclude themselves is for the sake of Flayn's safety.

Shez - ☆☆☆☆☆

Vision: Electro Weapon Type: Sword Region: No set region, encountered in Sumeru Affiliations: Treasure Hoarders

A prolific member of the Treasure Hoarders, Shez is renowned for his many escapades in locating and finding treasure. While being a Treasure Hoarder often gives people a bad impression of him, those who know him are well aware of his intentions. Likewise, his past is also shrouded in mystery. Not even Shez himself is fully aware what landed him in this position as a notable Treasure Hoarder.

Why don’t you ship it?

The primary reason is Edelgard's role in the narrative doesn't make her the kind of character I gravitate to.

What would have made you like it?

A lot of lore changes, more consistency in the narrative for Edelgard's goal of eradicating the nobility, and adjustments to personal gripes about navigating emotions and empathy.

Despite not shipping it, do you have anything positive to say about it?

There are aspects of Edelgard's personality which are fun and quirky. I like when people let Byleth be playful too.

Also this art fucks severely.

For Claude x Petra it's like. I don't ship them. I don't Not ship them. But a secret third thing. Enjoy some ship content while despising the majority.

Why don’t you ship it?

I've seen too many white fans pair them for being two non-white characters with no other consideration for their characterization. I completely empathize with fans of color who interpret "outsider solidarity" between the two of them, but the difference between this and other portrayals I've seen have soured them to me.

What would have made you like it?

A few things. I'd like more shared canon content between them, by which I mean, characters that they share supports with or explore dialogue. Their individual supports with Ignatz and Cyril are hugely enjoyable, but they don't precisely help me imagine their dynamic in a group or between each other. Additionally, I feel like Petra's personality / personal feelings aren't well explored with her supports with Claude. If there was more about what a risk it was for her to be away from the Empire, and him acknowledging that risk, I'd have enjoyed the canon content more.

Despite not shipping it, do you have anything positive to say about it?

I like them both! I like them as friends, personally. I'd love for them to debate and negotiate and commiserate about their leadership responsibilities into adulthood. Some fanartists are so talented. I've not read a fic of them.
