An Ohio woman whose toddler died after she left her alone for more than a week while she went on vacation was sentenced to life in prison without parole Monday, the Cuyahoga County prosecutor said.

Kristel Candelario, 32, pleaded guilty in February to aggravated murder and endangering children in connection with the death of her 16-month-old daughter, Jailyn, last year.

Candelario left for vacation June 6 and left Jailyn alone. She visited Detroit and Puerto Rico, the Cuyahoga County Prosecutor’s Office said.

When she returned on June 16, she found Jailyn dead and called police, authorities said.

Jailyn died of starvation and severe dehydration due to pediatric neglect, Dr. Elizabeth Mooney, deputy Cuyahoga County medical examiner, said in court Monday. The manner was ruled homicide.

The child was extremely dehydrated and was emaciated, weighing 13 pounds, which was a decrease of 7 pounds from her last doctor's visit less than two months prior, Mooney said.

Mooney, who conducted the autopsy, called Jailyn's death "one of the most tragic and unfortunate cases I’ve had in my career thus far." She said the child could have suffered for possibly a week.

In a statement Monday, prosecutor Michael C. O’Malley called Jailyn “a beautiful baby girl who was taken from this world due to her mother’s unimaginable selfishness.”

Candelario told the court Monday that “every day I ask forgiveness from God and from my daughter Jailyn.”

She also asked forgiveness from her other daughter and from her parents.

Candelario’s attorney, Derek Smith, said that no one was trying to excuse her behavior but that Candelario was struggling emotionally and was overwhelmed as a single mother of two children.

Candelario had tried to harm herself earlier in 2023, she had been placed on antidepressants and stopped taking them without tapering down in dosage as required, which can cause side effects, Smith told the court. Candelario was "not thinking clearly," he said.

“I am not trying to justify my actions, but nobody knew how much I was suffering and what I was going through,” Candelario said through an interpreter.

Assistant Cuyahoga County Prosecutor Anna Faraglia told the court Monday that Candelario had left Jailyn alone for two days immediately prior to leaving on vacation.

"The thought of this child, dying every day while she's having fun — humanity can't stomach that," Faraglia said. "And those are the actions that need to be punished. She abandoned her daughter and left her for dead."

In sentencing Candelario, Judge Brendan Sheehan of the Cuyahoga County Common Pleas Court noted that the police and medical professionals involved called it one of the most horrific cases they’d ever seen.

“It stunned people across this world, because it defies one of the basic human responsibilities,” Sheehan said. He called it “the ultimate act of betrayal.”

a tier: scooooottt!!!, kira, malia, melissa, sheriff stilinski (still don’t know his first name), meredith (i legit cried at her fake out death i very rarely cry at fake out deaths bc i’m psychic but LYDIA’S apology got me actually. probably horrible mental health representation but her bond with lydia was very sweet)

b tier: chris (allison’s dad coming THROUGH), satomi (she’s cool i like her), coach, derek (not only is he a failalpha he’s failwolf in general<3 at least until he evolves an ability to shift into a real wolf with a tail and everything good for him ig), deputy parish

c tier: liam (liam himself i could go either way on, but i love watching sciles comedy of errors trying to raise this baby werewolf), brayden or however you spell that hired gun’s name (i’m glad we got more of her but tbh i think the mystery was a big part of the draw and now…), lydias mom (i like that they’re giving her a bigger role but i’m not invested like i am with scott and stiles parents), kira’s parents (they’re still cute but don’t make kira move she’s so good at lacrosse!), deaton (tbh i feel like he was barely in this season), scott’s dad (he is making an effort good for him), alba from jtv (not a good enough villain for me to have fun watching her electrocute teenagers sorry)

f tier: aunt kate and uncle peter (STAY DEAD ffs), that serial killer orderly

Watched the teen wolf movie and i wish i didnt ✌️.

It was so fun seeing the cast on screen again but that wasnt enough to distract from the rest of the movie lmaooo

My main opinions:

- peter: feral and stabbing, Melissa: crossbowing and graceful,chris: glockin and ragin ....the trio i didnt know i needed

-derek having a son..i love the concept just not the execution lol

- i love allison and i wish she got to stand on her own more. Most of her time on the show she was being manipulated by someone then she is resurrected only to be manipulated by the nogitsune and end up with scott🤔. I like them as a couple but still wish she had some time for herself..feel like it would have been cool to see.

-i loved seeing mason and Sheriff stilinski..being a deputy fits mason

- i still hate parrish lol and his pairing with Malia was not for me...Malia is another character i wish got to stand on her own more and maybe get a girlfriend lol

- i wasnt a huge fan of eli tbh i just felt like they were trying to replace stiles

- peter was way to calm when derek died considering how he died...and tbh everyone was wayy to calm. i understand that he made the sacrifice and no one could stop him but bro id still be crying

-the reason stiles wasnt there was bogus like so what him and lydia broke up and even if he was also scared of Lydias dream possibly being a premonition. That wouldnt stop him from coming to help. Feel like they should have said he cant come b/c it involves the nogitsune. Made up lore about how stiles would be in danger since hes been previously possessed.

-why was liam in japan lol and who tf gave him the nogitsune fly jar

- wish kira was there... hikari wasnt necessarily a bad character she was just kinda there

- Derek shouldnt have died over this ...Mr.harris helped cause the hale fire and another hale is dead b/c of shit he did. How is that a good ending for ending for him.

When pickpocket Stiles stole Deputy Derek’s wallet, his dad gave him two choices: A) The Sheriff can’t bend the rules for his wayward son anymore, so he will have a criminal record to his name. B) In order to walk away freely, he needs to attend Derek’s sister’s wedding and pretends to be his boyfriend during that time. An AU where Stiles is a delinquent, with a lot of issues, steals people’s wallets with no remorse and Derek, the newest Deputy in town who has to fake his own relationship status in order to be left alone by his too nosy family, doesn’t put up with Stiles’ shit. A/N: I honestly have nothing to say but I write too much and I can’t stop as much as I try. When I watch anything I always have to do do something else along so when I watch CM I also write these.  When I was first writing this I was going to set this all in one day but then halfway through I decided I wanted this to take place in a series of days so low and behold I deleted the whole thing and started over. Enjoy.

Day 1 at the BAU

The first time it happened it was simply a mistake. It was my first day at the BAU and I was simply a rookie. 

I walked behind JJ as she showed me around the BAU, the conference room, Hotch’s office, Rossi’s office, Garcia’s den, and finally my desk, that was also with a bunch of other peoples workspaces. JJ told me that we all worked as a team and I nodded along. JJ was very nice to me and acted as if I was her own child, perks of being young and likable I had thought to myself. At 8 o’clock sharp everyone started filing in. Before everyone poured in tho JJ had warned me I would be the youngest of the group which meant I was going to be the baby of the team. 

 I meet Aaron Hotchner first, he was as you would suspect the “alpha” man he gave me boss vibes, let’s be honest. He seemed nice enough but I could tell he was going to work me hard for the first few months. 

Then I got to meet Derek Morgan, he, on the other hand, was not as uptight as Hotch, he seemed chill but he did warn me I better do my best but also be safe. I already could tell he and I are gonna get along well. He was cool.

Next was Penelope Garcia. She was the biggest sweetheart ever! She definitely had the best style. She wore funky clothes that I loved. She instantly loved me but I suspected she snooped through my personal life before she liked me, but can I blame her. 

Next was the supermodel Emily Prentiss. She wasn’t a supermodel but she might as well be one. At first she was cold to me, like very cold to me, but you know like all ice they melt and now I proclaim Emily as my second mom besides JJ.

Then came David Rossi. He was very nice and funny. He acts tough all the time, but we all know on the inside Rossi is a big softie, he’s like a teddy bear. I proclaim him as my father. I think that since I am the youngest of the bunch I can proclaim anyone as my mother or father. Period. 

The last person walked in through the doors and I felt like I was drooling let’s be honest. He was tall had dirty blonde hair and hazel eyes. He was dressed in a purple dress shirt with black dress pants and a dark grey cardigan. In my eyes he was beautiful. 

JJ and I walked up to the beautiful man and she introduced us. 

“Y/n this is Spencer Reid, and Spencer this is Y/n  Y/l/n.” JJ introduced. 

“Hi, Agent Reid,” I said sticking my hand out for a handshake. First mistake I made.

“It’s actually Dr. Reid and I don’t do handshakes, It’s actually safer to kiss,” Spencer responded waving at me instead of taking my hand. 

I looked over at JJ but she turned around to hide her laughing face. 

I looked back to DR. Reid and lowered my hand. “Okay Dr Reid. Nice to meet you.” I responded going on my tippee toes to kiss his right cheek. 

When I pulled away he looked shocked and I just laughed. “See you around Doctor.” I smiled and walked away with an innocent look on my face, but not before I saw Derek pat his back and mumble, “You should really try fixing you introductions kid.”

Day 9  at the BAU

The second time I called Spencer ‘Agent Reid’ it had accidentally slipped out. We had finished a successful case and I went in for a hug with Spencer. Spencer and I had gotten close over a week’s worth of time, he and I had become very good friends. We would often go to 24-hour cafe’s and we would talk about books and anything we were interested in over coffee. 

“Good job Agent Reid. You did great,” I said to Spencer as soon as I saw him walk through the door to the Philadelphia police station.  

Spencer hugged me back tight but when we pulled back Spencer looked at me sternly. “Remember Y/n it’s DOCTOR Reid not AGENT Reid.”

I let go of him with a small laugh and winked at him. “Okay doctor, I’ll watch my mouth,” I laughed.

Later that night when we landed back in Virginia we went to our favorite cafe together and talked till 12:47 in the morning before the manager kicked us out because we were “too loud”.

Day 68 at the BAU 

It slipped again. It was an accident I swear! We just arrived in a small town in Canada and it was my job to introduce everyone to the deputy. 

“Hi, I’m SSA Y/n  Y/l/n,” I said walking into the police and shaking the deputies hand. 

“This is SSA Aaron Hotchner,” I said pointing at Aaron. “This is SSA Derek Morgan,” pointing at Derek. “SSA Prentiss, SSA Rossi, Agent Jennifer Jareau, and Agent Spencer Reid.” I introduced everyone. 

Everyone shook hands and when it was Spencer’s turn to shake the deputies hand he refused and said, “Actually it’s Dr. Spencer Reid.” 

Shit, I had thought. 

When we were sent off by Aaron to go investigate the crime scene I quickly apologized. “It just slipped I’m so sorry Spencer.” 

“It’s okay Y/n just make sure next time you say, Doctor.” Spencer brushed it off. 

“How about I buy you a coffee after the case to make up for it,” I asked as we walked into the Johnsons house. 

“Only if you get me a refill too,” Spencer answered as he inspected the house. 

“Anything for Dr. Reid.” I sang back.

Day 143 at the BAU

When we had a first-ever disagreement I called him ‘Agent Reid’ just to rial him up even more. We were arguing about who would do better with children. Honestly, the whole fight was just stupid but neither of us was going to give in to the other. 

“I did so well with the children today.” I bragged as we got on to the jet, Spencer right behind me. 

“I think I did the better job,” Spencer responded as we took a seat across from each other. 

“No,” I drew out slowly looking at Spencer dead in the eye. 

“Yes,” Spencer responded taking out a book from his bag. 

“Whatever,” I said, rolling my eyes and turning away from Spencer.

“Okay Y/n, whatever you say,” Spencer said, rolling his own eyes then turning his attention to his book. 

I started fidgeting with my fingers as I mumbled under my breath. “I know I did better.”

Spencer looked up from his book and turned to me, “You know I can hear you right?” 

“I know, Agent Reid.” I shot back narrowing my eyes at him. 

“It’s doctor. D-O-C-T-O-R,” Spencer spelled out. 

“Actually I can call you Agent if I wanted to.” I sassed. 

“I’d prefer if you called me Doctor, Y/n,” Spencer spoke, he was obviously annoyed. 

“Nope I think I prefer calling you Agent more than Doctor,” I responded standing up to go get myself a coffee. 

I walked over to the coffee pot and flicked it on to make some coffee. I glanced over to where Spencer sat and he had turned back to his book, but this time he was biting his lower lip. I wasn’t a profiler for nothing, he was thinking of something for sure.

I poured myself a coffee and added in creamer and sugar. Out of habit, I grabbed another mug and poured some coffee for Spencer. Darn my stupid habits and I. I grabbed the other mug and walked back to where Spencer was. 

“If you admit I did better than you, I’ll give you your coffee,” I said sitting down both coffee’s in hand. 

“Fine you did better, hand me my coffee now,” Spencer said not looking up to me. 

“I’m not convinced,” I bluntly answered. 

Spencer looked up at me this time, “You did better than me Y/n, you are better with children than I am.” Spencer deadpanned. 

“Fine,” I puffed, handing him his coffee. 

“Good girl,” Spencer replied taking a sip. 

I don’t know why but my face immediately heated up and I quickly excused myself to the bathroom. That’s when I realized I had a crush on him. 

Day 757 at the BAU: Current Day

Over the past 2 years, I have never dropped the ‘Agent Reid’ act because: A) It’s a tease and B) It’s hilarious because he always gets so frustrated. It simply clung to me and it won’t be going away anytime soon. 

I sat at my desk and typed away on my computer, it was a quiet day at the BAU. Hotch, Rossi, and Prentiss were all out on their own business. JJ was sorting through files, and Garcia was in her office having a dinner date with Kevin. Spencer was reading at his desk across from mine waiting for me.

I had three more sentences to write for tomorrows report and then I’m done. Spencer and I had plans to go see a movie after work today so I quickly typed my last three sentences and quickly shut off my computer. I started shoving my papers into my to-go bag and throwing pencils into my desk. 

“Calm down Y/n, I’m not going anywhere.” Spencer laughed putting his book away too. 

“Oh, I know I’m just really excited,” I said back standing up and swinging my dark blue cardigan on. 

We walked together to his car and we got in together. “So you wanna tell me what movie we are watching now?” I asked buckling my seat belt. 

“I’m not telling you, it’s a surprise,” Spencer responded smirking as he sat into his seat. 

“Alright Agent Reid.” I teased. 

Before I could register what was happening next Spencer lunged forward to me and wrapped one of his hands around my neck. I was shocked truly, I always thought Spencer was vanilla even after prison. I starred at Spencer in shock as he held me by my neck. 

“In the past two years, you have called me ‘Agent Reid’ exactly 432 times. The first few times I get it, it slips, but now you straight up tease me with it, and you won’t stop because you know how much it bothers me. Were you trying to get me to snap, buttercup.” Spencer asked his face dangerously close to mine. The nick name came out of no where I swear.

I bit my bottom lip and instead of an answer I gave him a small moan. 

“Oh you naughty girl,” Spencer whispered a small smirk on his lips.

I leaned forward as far as I can and attempted to kiss Spencer, but he moved back and smiled. He let go of my neck and said, “We can’t do that right now, we have a movie to catch.” before he sat back into his seat and started the engine. 

I slumped down in my seat and pouted at Spencer as he drove. I glanced at him once in a while to see if I caught his attention. But I suspected he knew what I was doing and smiled as he drove. 

“Finally he looked over at me and laughed, “Tonight.” 

I instantly sat back up in my seat, once again happy. Oh boy was I excited about tonight.

“Asshole’s my middle name,” Stiles snarks back.

“Then your soulmate is lucky it’s only your first name written on their palm,” Derek sneers.

Stiles shrugs, gathering up his supplies and moving along the property line. “I wouldn’t be too sure about that.”

Is this Nippy’s Denouement..?

So Salmond will testify and speak to the written evidence he has submitted to the Committee of Inquiry.  Will his central allegations. - that she lied to Parliament as part of her attempts to cover up her conspiracy to stitch him up -  fatally wound Sturgeon’s premiership?  It should (whether Salmond is right about a conspiracy or not - see below).

Is the story suffienctly clear for the public to get it..?

Part of the problem has been the welter of sources all, seemingly, with only part of the story. And when is has been the subject of any effort to make it into whole cloth it’s often done by a questionably biased player. (AND Lord knows no comprehensive or comprehensible truth can possibly emerge out of the Fabiani Fiasco committee)! However the issue that has now clearly been established is that we have a tainted judicial system in Scotland. Some might baulk as such an assertion, and not long ago one might have hesitated to make such a broad accusation.  But If even a workable percentage of Salmond’s accusations are true - taken together with the unfathomably malicious prosecution of the Rangers’s administrators - Scotland’s prosecution, police, civil service and even judiciary are all tainted. Whole Cloth (SNP-Tartan)

On that ‘whole cloth’ mentioned, this blog has republished two sources of such accounts that both seek to establish a complete picture of the Salmond-stitch-up. Both are separatist sources and so (as the koran might say) are usually worth only 1/3 the consideration of a rational observer. Still, the accounts hold together remarkably well - and appear to be corroborating of each other. So, it simply may in fact be that the utterly venal and untrammeled sharp edge of Sturgeon’s ire is merely much, much worse that we ever assumed. 

The plot goes awry.  So, Sturgeon sought to kill off any resurgent Salmond ambitions by miring him in scandal and tarring him as a sex pest.  Things got out of hand and, through her failures to conspire properly, Salmond ends up being prosecuted (not just Civil Service censured).  But that prosecution failed - as it was bound to as it was based upon ‘false accusations’.  Central to the conspiracy storyline is the allegation that the witnesses who came forward to accuse Salmond at the beginning are all linked to Sturgeon. That fact is well known inside SNatsi circles and it is merely the traditional confidentiality of accusers’ identities that prevents this from being obvious to all. Further, there was an active scouring through the separatist ranks to find women who would be prepared to make an accusation. Pressed into service here were civil servants and the Scottish police. Again if even partially true this is horrific. This blog did not follow the details of the Salmond trial itself but understands, from various accounts, that the Crown’s case was so full of holes that it was, in parts, laughable. For example, circulating in SNatsi quarters, is the assertion that the central accuser, the one upon whose testimony on the charge of attempted rape rested, was not even in the same city as a Salmond at the time alleged. Whatever the ins and outs, as we now all know, the trial was a complete flop as a prosecutorial matter. That says something, nae, it says a lot.

Sturgeon - Conspirator or Defender of Women?

So this still was only about Salmond, right?  But now the questions are swirling round Sturgeon... The credibility issue at the core of Sturgeon’s ‘defense’ that she had no role in the investigation or anything else is key. She has known Salmond for longer (subject to check) than her own husband. Yet news was brought to her - IN HER OWN HOME - that this man - her constant friend, colleague and mentor of decades - might have been groping women for years (including time while she served as his Deputy in government and party) and that numerous of these women are about to seek redress against him. And this, all this, she quite simply forgot …!  Hands up who believes that... So if she was lying about what she knew and when - it can only be to cover up.  To cover what though? Option (1) Salmond’s guilt? (given their mutual open hostility its now clear she was not trying to cover FOR him!) Or Option (2) her role in the fatally flawed process civil service led process to hang him out to dry (via a Code of Conduct - coincidentally written after the initial ‘forgotten’ meeting) that failed to get him but which then rolled into a police inquiry, a civil case that was lost and ultimately a prosecution, that also failed.  Conspiracy not sounding so fanciful now, is it?

Or, to bend over backwards and give her every benefit of the doubt, is she just an innocent abroad, trying to do right by wronged women? Hardly. In fact her cynical use of ’these poor women’ is all the more reprehensible for its deviousness. It is meant to appeal to the uninformed and solicit the concern of any reasonable person who can all-to-readily-believe Salmond might just be a monster. The first problem for her is that in such a central thesis exposes her.  It reveals that she comes from the cave of such monsters. She ‘grew up with’ Salmond, learned politics from him, apes him to this day in her style of government.  If he really was a monster all along - what does that say about the monster’s mentee, devotee and deputy...?

She knew literally NOTHING of this or even of any such allegations..? Thats - in a literal and metaphorical sense, incredible. Especially as we know a) she lies habitually, b) other internal matters of disgrace carried on for years without the public knowing (such as the Derek Mackay drunkenness) and c) on this specific subject - there is evidence of past allegations that went nowhere but were known inside the SNP (the Edinburgh Airport police reports). 

But let us assume for a second she is not tainted by the training he gave her, the lives they ‘shared’ over the years and that she has done nothing but act to see ‘justice’ for wronged female accusers.  Even in those circumstances how, in God’s name, could she come out of this unscathed (even if all her words were to be believed). The idea that she knew nothing but that when she DID learn of multiple allegations she did her job so poorly that these women were betrayed again is fanciful but damning anyway..!

‘It Wiznae Me’

Her excuses to avoid any culpability (on either the conspiracy charge or the implied cover up for Salmond) rely on two items - this entire matter is so arcane as to defy easy communication or sound bite allegation (save for “misleading parliament” and - ‘so what’ say most of the cult). Second, there is no clear single ’smoking gun’ so she can weasel her words, parse phrases and rely on leaving things to be lost in a miasma of red herrings (not to mix too many fish names...). Her strategy? Delay and obfuscate to delay further.  If this can all be played and played until the elections she will have won and we may never know any of the truth. How many Scots will, however, remain convinced that the First Minister is personally capable of orchestrating a major criminal conspiracy, a perversion of the course of justice and getting away? Thereby she is holing the Scottish judicial system below the waterline...  This is among the most corrosive of outcomes.

This damns both the SNatsis AND the current Devolution Dispensation For unionists these matters have multiple implications. Not only should it wound Sturgeon and her allies, it should also undermine their ability to appoint placemen/women throughout the Scottish state. (It may, unfortunately, also elevate Salmond but that factor can be blunted). 

The biggest consequence of this should be that the United Kingdom government is required to step in.  Westminster must appoint the appropriate figures to investigate all potential corruptions that have occurred. (The groundwork for this is already laid as the Scottish Parliament has only this month debated the need for the Rangers’s administrators malicious prosecution to be addressed by a non-Scots judge).  This need for ‘federal intervention’ reinforces the decidedly parochial nature of all of this corruption and undermines the various claims of the SNazis In the most effective way imaginable.  Crown Office, Civil Service processes, the McParliament, its committees and toothless performance, Ministerial Codes, the Police - ALL MUST BE REVIEWED. 

Turns out - as far as the SNP are concerned - they are too stupid. They are too wee and they are making us to poor.

We must now be looking for the strategic advantage that turns all of this SNP train wreck into a mortal wound for the separatist cause and the current home-rule dispensation. “Reform” must be our response. All this now demands that Scotland be reformed - the devolution set-up included..!

The SNatsis may just have busily woven the rope to hang themselves.

I have two three uncertainties, a pint and some friends... you have many questions, some very bad I say...

This time he decided not to decline the offer. There is the whole team of hot, as Mae nicknamed them, plus Phil and Alfred, practically forced by his colleague. Luke hasn't regretted his decision. He is having fun and is relaxed. He almost managed not to think about Penelope and the sensations he felt with her body against his. Too bad he knows it will never happen again. Like lightning it never hits twice in the same place. Theoretically.

-So, Brooks, how are you in the bunch of eggheads?- after asking the question, Derek takes a sip of his beer.

The other imitates him before answering. -Like a fish in a zoo.- Luke is the first to laugh at the joke, followed closely by the others. -It hurts me enormously to have to agree with this one.- he looks badly at his friend, who sends him a kiss. Screams of ecstasy in the background.

-But tell me, how is my Reid?- everyone looks at him strangely, but Morgan is used to talking about the pretty boy in this way and doesn’t understand their reaction.

-Well, I'm the one who doesn't understand how he gets to know all those things, and to read a three-hundred-page book in three minutes.- Phil comments, serious.

Mick and Matt, however, burst out laughing again. -I think you meant two and a half minutes.- the first corrects him. Another downpour of male laughter and clinking glasses.

-Guys, I'm sorry but I have to run away.- the man with Asian features is already about to get up, but Derek prevents him from taking him by the arm.

-And come on, Simmons, you can't always run to your lady, how many children are you going to have?- Matt is in the game, but he thinks A lot, only in his head, maybe even four or five.

It may have been the beer or perhaps the relaxed atmosphere, but Luke at some point finds the courage to ask the BAU SSA a question, which is the best source of information on Garcia he has available. There is indeed one thing that he needs to know. -Hey, Morgan, you're Garcia's best friend, right?- Derek realizes that a joke would send him into crisis or make him change his mind, so he just nods. -Maybe something bad happened to her? I mean... During her whole life, not recently...- he blushes like a beginner, poking the elbow of his best friend.

-Someone finally discovered the fair sex?- Phil makes fun of him. Luke however remains focused on the other man. That doesn’t seem to have much desire to joke anymore. It is a strange question, what he asked him. He was expecting more a "you know if she's single" request, certainly not such a... Deep thing. Garcia has a crush, but this boy doesn't just reciprocate her. He is a few steps higher.

-Something bad?- he repeats, pretending he needs to think. -Let me think... When she was eighteen, a drunk driver killed her parents and she feels guilty. Three years ago, a guy, a deputy with the killer hero syndrome, asked for a date and then shot her right in front of her house. Yes, I would say she has some trauma.- Luke's shocked expression immediately calms him down. He is really worried, almost as worried as he is. No, maybe even more. But it's not just this. He also appears... Pissed off.

-What happened to that asshole?- the Latin replies promptly.

-He is dead.- he only answers. Luke nods, but both Derek and Phil read his mind. He seems relieved, but in reality, he is angry, because he would have liked to kill him with his hands. And maybe he's meditating how to steal a body from the cemetery.

Stiles is just pulling the latest batch of cookies (peanut butter this time, Derek’s favorite!) out of the oven when the front door slams. He cringes and quickly jostles the hot cookie sheet onto the stove top. The oven mitts get tossed on the counter and his frilly pink apron (a joke anniversary gift from Derek two years ago) is carefully straightened.

He makes sure he has a bright, sunny smile on his face as Derek rounds the corner into the kitchen.

“Hi, honey!”

Derek doesn’t say anything. He just scowls, far more intensely than usual.

“Welcome home!” Stiles tries again. “So how was your day at work?”

“You fucking shot me,” Derek says. “That was my day at work.”

Stiles sucks on his front teeth. “Okay, yes, that is true. But.” He gestures at the four batches of cookies on display like he’s Vanna White. “I also made you cookies!”

Derek narrows his eyes, clearly determined not to be swayed by baked goods, no matter how delicious.

“It didn’t hit anything important,” Stiles pointed out, “and you’re all healed up anyway. A nice massage would work out the last of the soreness, don’t you think? I’ve still got some of that nice warming oil from valentine’s day.”

“Stiles.”

“Okay, if it helps, I was aiming for Isaac.”

Derek rolls his eyes so hard his entire head goes with them. “No, Stiles, that does not help! Stop shooting my deputies!”

“Well, then tell them to stop getting in the way of my operation! Sweetie, we’ve talked about this.”

With a growl, Derek stomps around him to snatch up a cookie. He stuffs it in his mouth and immediately grabs two more. Through his mouthful, he says, “You know there’s only so much I can overlook before people start getting suspicious.”

Stiles sighs. Derek’s a giant ball of bad mood, but he doesn’t pull away when Stiles slides an arm around his waist from behind. He might even relax a little bit, especially when Stiles presses a kiss to the back of his neck.

“I know, babe,” Stiles says. “But there’s only so many times I can get away with handing out strategic retreat orders before I’ve got a coup on my hands. Or I start losing profits because my clients hear the heat is on. I can’t abandon all my storehouses just because you track them down. You’re too good at your job. It’s bad for my bottom line.”

Derek growls again, but only halfheartedly. He is exceptionally good at his job, they both know it, and it’s only because he had the terrible luck to fall in love with the city’s most prominent crime lord that his career has plateaued at Chief of Police. He would be City Commissioner by now if he didn’t have to keep shooting himself in the metaphorical foot to let his husband keep his empire going.

Angry or not, he lets Stiles turn him around and kiss him softly.

“I didn’t think you were going to be there today,” Stiles says. “I would’ve called for a retreat right at the start if I had.”

Derek raises a skeptical eyebrow. “Really? There was three million in rare goods in that warehouse.”

“Three million is nothing next to you.”

The press of dimples in Derek’s cheeks give away the smile he’s fighting back. “You only say that because you won the shootout and still have the three million. If I’d seized it, you would’ve bitched about it for weeks like you did last year with the stolen antiquities.”

“Yes, okay,” Stiles allows, “but to be fair, those were worth way more than three mil. It took me ages to track those down and smuggle them out of Nepal, and then you just swoop in there all badass and steal them right out from under me! It was rude.”

“It’s not stealing when they weren’t yours to start with.”

Stiles groans. “We are not having that argument again. It completely ruined thanksgiving 2014.”

A laugh finally breaks through Derek’s stubborn frown. He drops his head down onto Stiles’ shoulder, arms looping around his back to pull him close. Stiles runs gentle fingers through his hair, chuckling too. Derek is warm and soft against him, and the whole kitchen still smells like cookies, and it’s about as close to perfect as anything Stiles can imagine.

“I’m sorry I shot you,” he says into the quiet moment. “And I’m glad you’re okay.”

Derek pulls back to smile at him, though there’s a touch of wryness to it. “Are you sorry for intending to shoot Isaac?”

“Well, I wouldn’t go that far.” At Derek’s expectant expression, Stiles sighs and offers, “But I will try not to shoot him in future, because I love you and you asked me not to.”

“Thank you.”

“Now—” Stiles kissed his husband again, pushing him back until he’s pinned against the counter’s edge. “—how can I make it up to you?”

Derek’s lips curve into a grin beneath his. “Oh, I can think of a few ways.”

The cookies are long cold by the time they get around to eating any more of them, but it’s more than worth it.

Stiles would feel sorry for him – and in another situation, he would even stop to admire Derek's perfect body and face – but he crushed a little boy's heart and that's unforgivable. He stops in front of Stiles. “Is it over?” “Clearly.”
