FIRE IMMUNITY

In August 1929, the New York Times carried the amazing story of Lily White, a young woman whose clothing continually, unexplainably, caught fire. It didn't matter if Lily was at home in her village in Antigua, West Indies, or walking down the street; her dresses would burst into flames and fall off, leaving her naked, but unharmed. Bedsheets would burn around her while she slept. Lily came to depend on hand-me-down garments from her neighbors to stay clothed.

In 1882 the Michigan Medical News carried an account of twenty-four-year-old A. W. Underwood, who could start fires with his breath. Underwood submitted to a rigorous examination by Dr. L. C. Woodman, who became convinced of the genuineness of Underwood's talent and wrote: "He will take anybody's handkerchief, hold it to his mouth, rub it vigorously while breathing on it, and immediately it bursts into flames and burns until consumed. ... He will, while out gunning, lie down after collecting dry leaves, and by breathing on them start a fire."

In the 1820s, in the United States, slave Nathan Coker, driven desperate by hunger, discovered his fire immunity. Finding the kitchen empty, Coker said he "shot in, dipped my hand into the dinner pot, and pulled out a red hot dumpling." Drinking cold water gave him more pain than drinking boiling coffee. Coker eventually became a blacksmith and demonstrated his talent to the town. An iron shovel, heated to white hot, was placed under Coker's feet. He stood on it while the shovel cooled. Next, Coker took the shovel, reheated to red hot, and licked it until it turned black again. Finally, some squirrel shot was melted, and the blacksmith poured the molten metal into his hands and then swished it in his mouth, until it had solidified. Coker had no burns.

August 23 is the festival day when the ancient world celebrated Vulcan, the god of fire.

'I'm Just A Nobody'- The Williams Brothers

It's a gospel song (hi there, grew up devout Christian) and it was my grandfather's favorite. It evokes moreso bittersweet memories b/c he's no longer with us, but mostly good

Close second is 'Silent Night' by The Temptations, my family loves Motown and we sing that shit as a full family whenever we hear it with our full chests, even if it's like the seventh time that day

30. Have you ever met a celebrity?

Several, my grandparents were pastors and I met a LOT of like Christian celebs- Vickie Winans, The Jakes family (Bishop T.D Jakes for those who don't know), Juanita Bynum

I've also met Tiffany D. Jackson she's an author I really love, I got to meet her virtually last year and this year before I graduated I got to meet her in-person at an event at my school and I have signed copies of a couple of her books!!

I know you already find the WTD LIs unbelievable anyway, but for me the most intriguing part is how Angel managed to dye her hair. Was it box dye she had preserved for years or did she figure out how to make it herself? 🤔 also I hate that the free armour was the medieval knight that (a) looks ugly and (b) takes me out of all moments where MC has to move quickly and quietly and (c) was found in a mall? Of all places? It was a happy day when I could take it off

Believe it or not, I actually think Angel’s hair dye is the MOST believable thing about any of the love interests. Juanita Sanchez in The Walking Dead dyed her hair purple and wore a pink fur jacket and goggles just for the hell of it, which TBH, go her. It’s the apocalypse and no one cares about fashion anymore. Be chaotic and wear whatever the hell you want.

Judging by the similarities in the way the two look/dress and act, I’d say Angel was probably inspired by Juanita at least a little bit. The difference between the two is that Juanita is more realistically written, having tons of trauma that has really affected her mental state, while Angel’s trauma only crops up on and off. Also, Juanita has a realistic repertoire of strengths and weaknesses while Angel is OP as shit for zero reason.

Also yes the knight armor was…so goddamn ugly. As a sucker for fantasy and knights, I couldn’t stand it.

Shambach, Robert Tilton, Paula White, Ed Young and a whole host of others. We know to avoid the books of people who are promoting the New Apostolic Reformation such as C. Peter Wagner, John Dawson, Jack Deere, Francis Frangipane, Ted Haggard, Bill Hamon, Cindy Jacobs, Rick Joyner, George Otis, Jr., Dutch Sheets, Ed Silvoso and many others. I have spoken a number of times on the subject of the First Nations Movement which is tied to the New Apostolic Reformation.
