The Corner2Corner Crochet Tutorial Masterpost
One of the most versatile crochet patterns is the corner2corner, or c2c, crochet pattern. Working your way up diagonally from the bottom corner to the top corner is not only a fun way to crochet a project, it also works up rather fast. Which is absolutely amazing when you were born with little to no patience, like I was😂🤣. This pattern is also very easy and thus very beginner friendly.
A little fun fact: the corner to corner pattern lends itself very well for grapghan crochet, so I’ll link a few tutorials on how to do that as well.
This is what corner2corner crochet looks like:
Enjoy!

C2C strawberry stitch! I was pretty inspired by the all the strawberry things I've been seeing lately and came up with a new C2C stitch variation featuring my version of the strawberry stitch. It's up at my etsy shop here for anyone interested.

me: crocheting this baby blanket is burning me out. i had to frog the whole blanket nearly completed because it was too large, and now im getting tired of doing this on a time crunch. i need to give myself a break and work on something new for now.
me: oh, i’ve got it!

This took me about six and half seasons of DS9 to make but it’s finally done! The only downside is that now I need to figure out something to work on during the last half of season seven.

F1 WDCs historical blanket - crochet project
I finished with the 1950s so figured I would start posting the updates on this project. :)
Format
Granny square blanket, 7x10 + 5 squares (last row filled out with extra background color)
Concept
Each square is corresponding to a F1 world champion, 1950-2024. Yarn color depends on what team they won with, pattern depends on the person. Yarn colors are based on either the car color or the logo / general association, whichever works best. Pattern assignment has a mix of High Concept, helmet design, Vibes and "this is a nice pattern and I'm running out of ideas".
Yarn used
Scheepjes Softfun, I mark the color used in parentheses with every square.
First update under the cut :)
1950s
Decade concept: first decade = foundations of the sport, so to speak, so I used combinations of the basic granny square.
Tumblr media
Giuseppe Farina - 1950
Team: Alfa Romeo (Jade)
First winner ever so I used the basic granny square.
Tumblr media
Juan Manuel Fangio - 1951, 1954-57
Teams: Alfa Romeo (Jade), Mercedes 2x (Cool Blue), Ferrari (Candy Apple), Maserati (Mahogany)
A defining figure of the 50s and F1 in general, I chose the most imposing basic square that came to mind - super solid.
Tumblr media
Alberto Ascari, 1952-53
Team: Ferrari (Candy Apple)
C2C is a basic square I enjoy, and it looks nice with the Ferrari red. No deeper thoughts in this.
Tumblr media
Mike Hawthorn, 1958
Team: Ferrari (Candy Apple)
Circle is one more variation on the basic square, no further thought process behind this one.
Tumblr media
Jack Brabham, 1959
Team: Cooper (Sky)
The pattern for Brabham was an interesting question because he won both in the 50s and the 60s, so needed a pattern that worked for basic concept of the 50s and the more varied ones of the 60s as well. I decided on the Fancy Basic square by Cherished Memories Crochet on youtube, still a variation on the basic square but with a bit more interest. It makes for a nice transitional pattern between the decades.

C2C Color Change tips!
Tumblr media
Here's how I do smooth color changes - discovered after much experimenting with a mix of techniques.
There are two ways people generally do color changes in C2C - the Regular technique is to finish the last double crochet with the new color. The other way is to change colors at the slip stitch that connects the squares after the final double crochet in the block.
Tumblr media
Here is the chart I made to illustrate which technique to use depending on what element of the design you're trying to make. I used this as a key to mark my Flamingo Pillow chart to make things quick. (made a black and white version too for those who want it)
Tumblr media Tumblr media
I found that I don't like to carry more than one or two blocks, so when in doubt I split a color into multiple bobbins. I determined how much yarn I needed per block, counted how many blocks were in each section, then measured out that much yarn plus a bit extra for each bobbin. I had success using small hair ties and stitch markers to secure the bobbins without adding a lot of extra bulk.
Tumblr media
One other thing I discovered is that the direction of these long diagonal lines matters, so when I tried flipping this pattern it had this weird effect that I didn't like. The way to fix this is to rotate the design so the diagonals follow the direction C2C is worked.
Tumblr media
Here's the back with some of my floats in case you're curious.
Tumblr media
And the finished piece I did all this work for.
Tumblr media
Hope these tips help y'all!

My favourites I crocheted in 2024
Tumblr media Tumblr media
My mostly-decorated Sphynx cat anthro is wearing my fav studs, and she chills on my shelf beside my snerson (snake person). I later realised they have the exact same blue colours.
Tumblr media
This Gaster Blaster is impossible to photograph nicely. The jaws can open :V
Tumblr media Tumblr media
This 👆 freaking C2C blanket took 3 months, Jan to March I believe, and the ends aren't even woven in, just knotted. It doesn't fit my double bed but it impresses the relatives. My wonderful Wambus meanwhile sits at my PC looking gormless and my Dad hates him lmao
Tumblr media Tumblr media
My beautiful Gummigoo which I just had to make for myself. And a daisy head, which was a gift for my aunt who loves to garden.
These are the faves! All original except the blanket design, and the bottom half of the snerson (snake person) which is ComplicatedKnots on YouTube's snake pattern.
Looking forward to my 2025 projects 🧶🧸
