The CaelOS AU boys meet CyberElf X and MegaMan.exe

Credit to @caelos-au for the designs of Sun and Moon. I just really liked the concept and wanted to see them interact with other cyber beings.

I like to think that CaelOS Moon would be a good debugger. Moon is about to warn U/N that their code is vulnerable to buffer overflow (a huge security issue in too many codes).

Sermon 3: Irae

(A Grinning Cat Story)

The Prototype slowly crawled out of its oak. It had grown. It wore the skin and bones of the hanging bodies. As of now, it was more flesh than plastic and metal. Amongst the menagerie of carrion and wood, there laid a skull, visibly older than all the other pieces within. In its mouth, a speaker.

It spoke with the voices of many, alternating between them all like seasons.

"What did you just ask? 'Why?' Why what?"

"Why...why are there more bodies?"

"....that is none of your concern."

"How is it not? For all I have known, you were stayed put, you had me get you nourishment, food, I found this tree just for you. These 'trophies' aren't of any that I have killed. What have you been doing? Where have you found all of these people?"

It stood there, like a statue, unmoving.

"WHERE?!"

Theo shouted, his voice going from a whisper to a screech. He hadn't been this angry ever since the purging of his friends. The ones he killed under what he now realized was a false pretense. They died for nothing. That thing in front of him was nothing, no matter how big it would get now.

"...there is a town near these woods. Plenty of people for quite a small town."

"...Do they know of anything that happened? About us?"

"No."

Theodore expected that answer by now. The final stone of which his faith was crushed beneath.

"Then why take their lives?...why, they had nothing to do with us, why-"

"THEY HAD THE GAUL TO EXIST."

The Prototype cried, its anger and malice clear with every word.

"They exist. And for that they should all perish."

Without a second thought, Theodore pounced on his former god, his steel claws ripping away at its flesh and bone. Its one, great claw tried all it could to stop the Cat, to no avail. It was only through unfortunate luck that it made a decisive strike, a slash to Theo's chest. It wasn't fatal, but it was enough to make him stop.

He had reduced it to half the size it once was, meat, metal, bones, and the like were strewn about like confetti. The two experiments were now drenched in blood, the faded purple of Theo's fur only barely visible. The cut that the Prototype had left in his chest was bleeding heavily, but he'd manage. While his face was still smiling, his eyes were filled with contempt, rage, and betrayal. He never believed that this would ever happen between the two of them, yet here they were, nearly breathless.

"...so this is it, Theo? You're just going to leave me, just like that? Do you forget that I saved you? If it weren't for me, you'd just be another body amongst the mountain of others that they made. Without me, you wouldn't have been gifted with such an immaculate form!"

"Immaculate? You've thought this was a blessing this whole time? I never asked you to save me, I never asked for this! None of us did! You never did...did you?"

"....Does it matter? In the end, I'll have won. And you know it."

The silence was deafening. No birds, no wind. Just the two of them, surrounded by bodies, flesh, regret, and evil.

The scent of poppies filled the air, and a metallic thud echoed across the woods.

Theo walked. That's all he could do now. He was a follower with no leader but himself. It was almost a death wish, walking with all that blood dripping from him. Anything could track him down and end him right then and there. Maybe that's what he deserved.

He walked until he could no longer bear his own weight. He fell in a grove of fruit trees, the sunset making the shade cover him entirely. The closest thing to Heaven on Earth, through his eyes. And he drifted off, a well deserved rest after what he had been put through.

There are no just gods. Only devils who like to play pretend.
