"Caleb?" -> A voice called out before a familiar dominus hood poked out from around the corner, the trio member's wings twitching ever so slightly. Nate's always been too good at reading people. "Opal, are you okay?"

-> A low, gentle light hung over the survivalist's head, the faint softness of a bed beneath the survivalist's body. Moonlight, although something more of a mockery, danced across the floor through an old window. -> The robot was... Somewhere. A small cabin, maybe? But what was more important is that... It didn't sound like the robot was alone. Someone else was here, their footsteps making their way towards the small bedroom the robot spawned in.

He deadpanned at the other exploiter, plug tail twitching a little. He could tell Traps was most likely exhausted.

★ [ The support and survivalist had both gone out of the complex earlier to, dunno, just wander around or get supplies. Returning to the room, the front door opened with a squeak. Caleb skated into the room, with Ellernate walking into the room. Of course, the first thing the healer would do, is walk over to Traps' bedroom. ] ✦

★ [ Knock knock. Nate waited at the door, since the heir usually opened it shortly after he knocked. ] ✦

-> Nothing. Normally the heir was always on point when it came to answering his bedroom door, responding to knocks and whatnot. But he didn't come to the door this time. -> Soft shuffling, gentle yet unsure movements, could be heard from within the room. But Traps didn't come to the door.

clumsy steps headed towards the terminated Roblox worker. A very exhausted looking Caleb came into view, LEDs flickering from low power.

“Stop being fucking annoying”

ive definitely talked abt this before, but i literally cannot relate to the posts that are like "ohhh you guys ship them romantically when theyre soo much more interesting as friends". i contain multitudes. i think they are best friends. i think they are lovers. i think they are soulmates in a way that cant be categorised. these statements dont conflict.

-> Traps didn't say anything at first, feeling himself mentally cringe. God, was Ellernate really this stupid? Had Traps not made it OBVIOUS that his intentions were romantic? -> God, why did he even bother trying at this rate? "Did you need something, Caleb? Or did you come to apologize to me?"

-> There's an all too familiar chill in the air. The scent of rich cologne and frost lingering.

you wanna know what’s so funny is that we’re all like “omg Essek could NOT shut up about Caleb 🥺💕” but like. he absolutely can.

the only times Essek brought up Caleb unprompted/without relevance to the discussion at hand were gesundheit and nighttime sendings lol. of the four uses of the phrase “my partner,” one is an off-handed mention as part of a clarification (“I have not been following the Assembly’s threads; that was more my partner’s purview.”) and the last three all happen in the span of four minutes before Essek exits the episode.

the problem is that within those last four minutes, Essek hit us with

1) showing off a zemnian phrase he learned from Caleb,

2) “he is kind. and he is smart. and he is so strong,” said with such conviction and pride and love that I don’t think I’ll ever recover, and

3) leaving the crafting party to chat with Caleb before bed

which was just. a lot. it was so much and it was so good. so much concentrated shadowgast in those four minutes

this whole ship is built on layered conversations and implications and skirting the obvious (with the exception of the last two minutes of m9 reunited) so to give us four whole minutes of Essek boasting about Caleb, praising Caleb, wanting to go talk to Caleb was particularly potent

Itrapped had respawned, the door to one of the cabins opening as the heir stepped out. -> His eyes, vibrant and piercing, almost immediately locked onto the robot as he approached. He was... A little shocked to see Caleb out of the other trio members, but didn't say anything as he approached.
