A minute of botany.
Camphor tree or camphor laurel is one of the evergreen trees growing on the streets of Batumi. We love the bizarre shapes of their trunks and their fantastic growth rate. (before our eyes, small seedlings turned into small trees in a year and a half).
this is a pretty charming zelda-like that likely doesnt have more than an hour runtime. you wander around and kill shit and completely flounder at a sokoban puzzle for 6 minutes. i think the combat is really unresponsive and the weakest part of the whole thing (and having to kill 10 of anything to proceed is weird and not exceptionally well communicated) but the music is great and it felt very nostalgic to play
Camphor - Free!
description of the game straight up says it plays for 30 seconds to a minute and they are not kidding. this is a visual poem about a worm looking to see fireflies. the lack of screen direction consistency drove me insane. just play this to see what i mean
NeuraQaurium - $4.95
Included in Indie Bundle for Abortion Funds
this shit gets me right in the creatures
neuraquarium isnt really a "game" its a neural network simulation where a bunch of fish powered by machine learning react to stimulation in the environment, evolve and generally survive. you have some minor interactions (can place food and change the environment a bit) but its mostly a virtual fishtank. every time i found a favorite they died instantly. but shooting things with laser beams and spinning in a circle was pretty big in my aquarium
Cat Ace - $4.99
Included in Bundle for Racial Justice and Equality, Indie bundle for Palestinian Aid
competent arcade-style dogfighting game. there's a bit of depth here but i did really feel like i saw everything there was to see about this game after like... 5 minutes. the visuals are great (i love the 3d effect when starting/ending a run), music and sound effects are godawful, wish i could hold onto the missile powerup for longer because its the funniest weapon
Septiny - Free!
they r not kidding this is a rage platformer
short game where you jump through 3 levels 7 times which each level getting more difficult as you loop around. the jumping was unfortunately not really responsive enough to make this fun to play + i definitely had some unearned level clears where i died and it just moved on anyway
Me: yes I love all the LoL demons. Tahm Kench. Evelynn. Fiddlesticks. Fletcher – she's my OC. And...
*looks at smudged writing on hand*
Next turn. Ashley Tisdale. Rhum. Cancer. Mh... T-Tennents.
I love this camphor and menthol muscle rub I bought! Not as icy as Biofreeze, definitely smells better. I smell like a cinnamon fall candle! Which is weird because cinnamon isn't even in the balm... At least I smell "festive" instead of "HEY I'M SLATHERED IN BIOFREEZE I WILL VICKS VAPORUB YOUR NOSE WHEN YOU HUG ME"...
I improved my Fire in the Head Formula now using a more concentrated essential oil of wormwood in a carrier oil infused with camphor granules. The two aromatic compounds together act to enhance one another bringing clarity, inspiration and opening the mind to access deeper states of intuition. It’s kind of like a spiritual smell salt. The scent opens the sinuses and awakens the senses. #poisonpath #fireinthehead #wormwood #camphor #ritualoils #divinationoil #psychicpractice #entheogen #poeticinspiration #plantspiritallies #plantmagick https://www.instagram.com/p/Cil65eFtDAv/?igshid=NGJjMDIxMWI=
“Tibetan Flame” is a sub brand of the famous Xiaguan Tea Factory. The factory is most famously known for their productions of Toucha shaped Puerh (bowl shaped or sometimes referred to as bird’s nest). The sub brand known as Tibetan Flame, produces Puerh meant to be sold to the Tibetan market and is used for making Tibetan Butter Tea. You can find a quick homemade recipe for butter tea in my blog.
This 250g brick comes well packaged in a tight wrapper and box for easy storage. The aroma of the brick is noticeable as soon as the brick is slipped out of it’s box. It’s got a little bit of green still present on the leaf when you look up close and still has presence of both golden downy and a little silver downy as well. It is quite a tightly pressed brick so breaking a piece off took a little extra time and care.
The dry aroma in the warmed gaiwan is rich with a sweet brown sugar and malt aroma with a smokey presence of tobacco. Very warming and comforting on a cold days, or sitting close the the AC as the temperature her starts to heat up. The wet aroma is earthy with damp soil notes, malt, cocoa powder and a mellow but not overpowering smoke aroma, maybe even closer to a camphor smell. It also has some nice fruity notes of cooked berries, and sweet purple grape.
The first infusion comes with a thick and heavy malt, astringent, mineral rich soil, aged parchment and raisins. It also showed a very woody earthy side of cedar and notable camphor flavor. This woody side of the tea became the prominent profile on the second infusion with strong and filling notes of cedar wood, camphor, while the notes of mineral and raisin seemed to disappear. The malty flavor remained but the astringency faded.
By the 3rd and four runs the tea was all powerhouse of wood and camphor with an aroma similar to a lumber yard. Fresh cut woods of all types filling the air with a clean and comforting scent. The thick remained think and robust. A perfect sessions for a cold winter day, a weekend evening at the cottage or to compliment a juicy protein and potato filled meal. Actually reminded me a lot of Yunnan Sourcing 2020 “Cozy” cake.
This brick is a great example of how a good, flavorful tea doesn’t have to be expensive. $15 Canadian for a 250g brick that left me wanting a couple more to store for the future.
My dad brought some camphor for puja in the house and he gave them to me to hold it and i seriously want to know HOW THE GODS HAVE NOT JUMPED DOWN FROM HEAVEN AND STARTED LIVING IN OUR HOUSE BECAUSE THE SMELL OF THAT DAMN CAMPHOR WAS ABOUT TO REMOVE EVERYTHING EVIL FROM MY BODY (which is my very soul).
