Here are some tips that have helped me stay sane in the face of my body dysmorphia and disordered eating habits.
Positivity time! This one's for all the ladies out there struggling with their bodies.
Body dysmorphia causes changes to visual areas of the brain. Your brain is literally lying to you. You are hallucinating. No, seriously. This is SO SO IMPORTANT. Look, if you have an ED then chances are, you may very well have legitimate body dysmorphic disorder. Your brain may be warping and distorting the image in the mirror. It's why everyone around you keeps saying how thin you are, but all you can see in the mirror is flab. It's a neurophysiological thing. (Most of the literature on BDD seems to pertain to cases regarding the patient's facial features or similar, rather than in the context of body size in ED patients, though.)
One binge won't undo your progress. Everyone fucks up sometimes. Don't dwell, don't ruminate, just pick yourself up the next day and keep going! This applies to "binges" in the proper clinical sense, as well as 4n4 "binges" that are more aptly described as simply "overeating." I occasionally will give myself a "free day" once a month or so, or if it's a holiday or something.
If you fast and restrict, take a good multivitamin, plus a calcium supplement! I also take thiamine to be safe. Being thin and undereating are associated with osteoporosis risk later in life, so calcium is a must! You need to make sure you're getting all of the critical micronutrients your body needs to function.
Exercise, especially cardio, helps with dopamine regulation. I have industrial strength ADHD-PI, ymmv. I also find that exercise bike, walking, or even pacing constantly = STIMMY STIMMY STIM TIME STIMS, MUST STIM, MORE STIM, CANNOT BE STILL, FUCK YOUR QUIET HANDS. Again, ymmv, fuck quiet hands, all my ND homies hate quiet hands.
Strengthening/resistance exercises help prevent osteoporosis later in life. 20-30 minutes 3-5x/week of yoga or pilates is great for this!
THC gummies are pretty low calorie. Shoutout to drugs other than alcohol for not having calories! (I use cannabis and hallucinogens, not big on hard drugs though.)
If you do drink, there are low cal options, but please moderate and try to follow CDC guidelines and avoid frequent binge drinking!! Guys, susceptibility to addiction runs in families. Also, struggling with impulse control aspects of binging may cooccur sometimes with susceptibility to alcohol abuse and addiction. I like vodka with diet tonic water, gin and tonic with diet tonic water, and vodka cosmos with diet 5 cal cranberrry "juice!" White Claw and similar hard seltzers are also great. Personally, I avoid drinking alone, don't drink all that often, and take care to be responsible and cautious. Ymmv, especially if you're still in early adulthood and just now starting to really experiment with substances!
When you do eat, make sure to get enough protein and fats! Carbs, you can take or leave. No one ever died from lack of carbohydrates, oddly enough. Protein and fat, though? I've had seizures due to low blood protein (combined with an accidental double dose of bupropion, to be fair). Rabbit starvation is a thing. This is especially important to pay attention to if you're vegetarian or vegan! Egg whites, chicken, tuna and other fish, olives, chickpeas, nuts, and beans are all good low calorie sources of protein and fats. (Olives, legumes, and especially nuts are energy dense though, so moderation is key.)
Enjoy the nice, healthy, low calorie foods that you do eat. It's okay to enjoy food, even if it's safe foods like light salads or cauliflower rice with vegetables.
Seek out social support and harm reduction advice. One thing people overlook about the whole "pr0 4n4" thing is that these communities are key sources of social support and harm reduction information for people who struggle with EDs.

My parents keep trying to get me to visit Algeria to see my stepfather's property there and just to take a vacation, but I smoke medical marijuana to help my seizure disorder and I'm transgender and on HRT and both of those things are illegal there.
I really would like to be able to travel the world at some point, I just don't know what countries are safe for me to travel to where I would be able to have my medication available.
Obviously, I would kind of be limited to countries with legalized or decriminalized cannabis, but I'm also really worried about the idea of what countries have anti-trans laws that would really negatively affect me if I visited.
If anyone has any suggestions for countries that are trans friendly and cannabis friendly I would love to know.

Hey, I sent an ask earlier asking about help with medications for migraines and I now see a bunch of your past resource posts. Thank you for taking the time to write and post about your experiences.
I was prescribed sumatriptan a few months ago, but haven't taken it often because it makes me feel dizzy, fatigued, lightheaded, and gives me brain fog. But I've been taking 50mg and never considered decreasing the dose! I plan to try 25mg now. I've been relying on ibuprofen, excedrin, and cannabis to treat pain which isn't great for my long term health. If you have any more suggestions, they are more than welcome and very appreciated
I guess I have 2 new questions, if you'll have em :)
1. So far I haven't found any of your posts that discuss preventative options. Do you have experience with these? What was your experience like?
2. Healthline says that one shouldn't cut or crush the tablet. Based on your posts, I assume your experience with doing this is fine, but I wanted to make sure before trying it.
Genuinely thank you for any help you may be able to give me. I downloaded the keeler method because of your recommendation.I appreciate it🐝
hi! some folks definitely get some gnarly side effects from sumatriptan. i was told by my physician that cutting the pill in half is fine, and i've been cutting the pills for 10 years without issue. but take that with a grain of salt, i'm obviously not a chemist lol. you may also want to ask your doctor about other triptans (rizatriptan, zolmitriptan, etc). it's possible that you'll react similarly to all triptans, but maybe there's an option that you'll tolerate better.
there are many options for migraine preventatives, which i have been exploring for 7 or 8 years now. keep in mind that my experience comes from living in the US with private health insurance. i can't speak to how you'd go about this in a different country or if you're uninsured, etc. also keep in mind that health insurance might not approve you for preventatives (especially the newer, better ones) unless you've been diagnosed with chronic migraine (meaning, 15 or more migraine days per month).
something i highly recommend to everyone suffering from regular headaches is to start taking magnesium. start at a lower dose (200mg daily), which you can increase to 400-600mg. magnesium is affordable, accessible and well-tolerated by most people, and is shown to be effective at preventing migraines. the main side effect is a laxative effect, so proceed cautiously if you have problems with that.
as far as prescriptions go, older migraine preventatives fall into three classes: antidepressants (usually amitryptaline), anticonvulsants (topiramate is a common one), and blood pressure medications. newer (and better, but more expensive) preventatives are: botox injections and CGRP inhibitors. in most cases, you'll need to jump through hoops to get these better preventatives. health insurance usually requires that you try and fail two of the three classes of old-school preventative before approving you for botox or CGRPs.
i've tried amitryptaline (did nothing; also, i don't tolerate antidepressants well) and three different anticonvulsants (topiramate, gabapentin and lamotrigine). i had horrible reactions to the anticonvulsants, with side effects like constant brain fog, tingling in my extremities, changes to how food tasted, increased headaches, and a full-body rash, to name a few. i don't say this to discourage anyone from trying these preventatives--in fact, many folks have great results with them. but they're medications used to stop seizures. they're heavy duty and the side effects should be weighed against their benefit.
botox (injected every three months by my neurologist) worked amazingly for about 6-8 months, and at its best i was only getting one or two migraines a week (which for me is great). but over the last six months, it stopped working as well and i was back to getting 10-15 migraine days per month. i would have liked to keep getting botox while pursuing other options, but insurance wants you to try monotherapies first. so i stopped botox and i'm in the process of getting approved to try aimovig (a CGRP inhibitor that you inject yourself once a month). there are other CGRPs that are in tablet form, like nurtec. CGRPs work remarkably well for lots of people, so i'm hopeful.
as a final note to this very long post lol, if you're able to get a referral to a neurologist or, better yet, a neurologist with a migraine/chronic pain specialty, i highly recommend doing so!

Hey! So feel completely free to disregard this if it's a topic you don't want to write for! It's just a true story of what happened to me and I'm curious on how Chishiya and Niragi would act 🙏
So, the Beach is filled with alcohol and drugs, right? What if their (crush, s/o, whichever) is just chilling around one of the parties with them but accidentally ingests cannabis, (didnt realize the snacks were edibles) but after a second they start twitching. Like concerning, beginning stage of a seizure twitching and they're too high to respond to anything because they just have a shitty weed tolerance-
Turns out they just can't have weed AT ALL because it makes them seize up and for the next few days after they're just dissociated. Their sensitivity is so high that they're just checked out for a business day or two :')
Anon im not sure if i will write this but i need to know.
ARE YOU OK ? !!
I never really tried something like weed, im afraid i will end on a bad trip (my ex-bf was found screaming and asking for help once).
So im naturally worried over you T.T !! If your story is like your request i hope you had some good company while you were under the effects. And pls tell me someone helped you after it ♥️
Stay safe anon!! And all of you reading this

I am pro cannabis legalization, by the way. I have used weed to manage my chronic pain (and the occasional nausea and stress overload) for several years, and am only quitting because I found a medication that works better for pain but the weed renders it ineffective. When I smoke while I’m on this medication, my pain actually gets worse. So I am quitting. But I will always support full legalization. I also don’t care if your only weed use is recreational. Who cares, it’s just weed.
That being said, I feel like too many people take “No one has ever died of weed overdose” to mean “weed is perfectly safe and we don’t need to be cautious about this.” Which just isn’t true. It’s true that if you smoke every day for a year and quit cold turkey, you might feel kinda gross for a while but you’re not gonna have a seizure and die like you might with opioid withdrawals. Last time I quit smoking after a long period of daily use, my only withdrawal symptoms were a headache that was manageable and my right eyelid kept occasionally twitching. I’ve had worse withdrawal affects from fucking coffee. But that’s not the only way a medication can be harmful.
Weed isn’t researched well enough to know how it interacts with different medications. And we don’t know enough about long term effects of weed. And while it’s less addictive than opioids, it definitely can be addictive. I’ve seen it. That being said, there is debate about using marijuana to treat opioid addiction. Some recovered addicts say they couldn’t have done it without the help of weed. But mental health experts are wary of the idea. There is a pilot program in Illinois working on this issue.
I just feel like there needs to be a balance between “weed is pretty harmless as far as drugs go” and “weed is a substance that DOES have possible side effects so you need to treat it seriously” because all medicine/substances have side effects.
I support recreational use because it’s really not a big deal to smoke weed, so who cares if people do it for fun instead of for medical reasons! My therapist once suggested to me that using recreational marijuana was also a contributing factor to my wellness, because it’s relaxing and fun and we need that in our lives. And as long as it’s not your ONLY source of relaxation and fun, what does it fucking matter. It’s no different than having a glass of wine at the end of the day.
Weed is not the scary drug it’s made out to be by some people, but it’s also not the completely harmless miracle drug other people claim it is. It’s not a black and white issue. But, overall, weed has more benefits than it has issues, so I fully support full federal legalization.

In this episode, host Vanda Felbab-Brown talks with RAND researchers Beau Kilmer and Roland Neil about U.S. domestic law enforcement responses to the fentanyl crisis. Kilmer and Neil highlight a decline in drug arrests, particularly for cannabis, in the United States, but note a surge in fentanyl-related seizures. They also discuss various alternatives to incarceration for specific drug-related crimes, including police-led deflection programs, and they cast skepticism on new punitive approaches, such as drug-induced homicide laws.

Before Medical Cannabis: Seizure twice a week.
After Medical Cannabis: Seizure maybe once every month.
Mmmm, dendrite building neuroplasticity.
Anyway, the edible took away the pain. My system didn't know how to handle not having pain, so it gave me spasms leading into a seizure. Then the edible stopped the seizure and the spasms rode out. Also, husband grabbed my left arm and hit some pressure points to distract and redirect my brain. It worked.
Now I have to lie down and coast through 20 mg THC induced euphoria.

High on Health: The Medical Benefits of Cannabis and CBD
In recent years, cannabis and its derivatives have been at the forefront of medical discussions, captivating researchers, patients, and enthusiasts alike. While often associated with recreational use, cannabis harbors a treasure trove of therapeutic properties, with CBD (cannabidiol) emerging as a promising component for medicinal purposes. Let's delve into the myriad ways in which cannabis, weed, ganja, joints, hash, and more are revolutionizing the landscape of modern medicine.
Exploring the Cannabis Spectrum:
Cannabis is a complex plant comprising hundreds of chemical compounds, known as cannabinoids, each with its unique effects on the body. Among these, THC (tetrahydrocannabinol) and CBD are the most studied and well-known. THC is responsible for the psychoactive effects associated with marijuana, while CBD offers therapeutic benefits without inducing a high.
Cannabis and Pain Relief:
One of the most renowned medicinal properties of cannabis is its ability to alleviate pain. Whether it's chronic pain, neuropathic discomfort, or pain associated with conditions like arthritis or multiple sclerosis, cannabis has shown remarkable efficacy in providing relief. From smoking weed to consuming CBD-infused products, patients have found various methods to manage their pain symptoms effectively.
Ganja: A Gateway to Anxiety Relief:
Anxiety disorders affect millions worldwide, leading to debilitating symptoms that disrupt daily life. Fortunately, cannabis, particularly strains with high CBD content, has demonstrated anxiolytic properties, offering a natural remedy for those struggling with anxiety. Whether it's through vaping ganja or incorporating CBD oils into their wellness routine, individuals are finding solace in the calming embrace of cannabis.
Joint Support: Cannabis for Arthritis Management:
Arthritis, characterized by inflammation of the joints, can cause immense pain and stiffness, severely impacting mobility and quality of life. Enter cannabis, with its anti-inflammatory properties that hold promise in alleviating arthritis symptoms. Whether applied topically as a hash-infused balm or consumed orally, cannabis and CBD offer a holistic approach to managing arthritis discomfort, providing patients with newfound freedom of movement.
Hash: A Healing Balm for Epilepsy:
For individuals living with epilepsy, Hash treatments may offer limited relief and come with a host of side effects. However, emerging research suggests that cannabis-derived compounds, particularly CBD, could offer a beacon of hope. Studies have shown that CBD can reduce the frequency and severity of seizures in epilepsy patients, paving the way for a more natural and well-tolerated treatment option.
In Conclusion:
From weed and ganja to joints and hash, the realm of cannabis offers a diverse array of therapeutic possibilities, transforming the landscape of modern medicine. Whether it's pain relief, anxiety management, or epilepsy treatment, cannabis and CBD continue to break barriers and challenge stigmas, ushering in a new era of holistic healthcare. As research advances and societal perceptions evolve, the medicinal marvels of cannabis are poised to shine brighter than ever, offering healing and hope to countless individuals worldwide.

after all the research I've done on the medicinal effects of cannabis it blows my mind how people on this website still treat it like it's on the same level as any addictive drug
i'm not any more addicted to weed than I am my mood stabilizer & seizure medication. It's just something I take every day because it helps more of my symptoms than any of my other meds, and without making me throw up or get pissy like my anxiety & pain medication does to me.
quit acting like people who smoke weed every day have some sort of "problem" like. yeah I do have a "problem" and that problem is called 100 million health issues. Are you gonna make a PSA about the side effects of Lamictal too

Sigh.
I had to explain why Afterburn hasn't been finished yet, so I'll repeat part of how I responded to this really awesome (I mean that...I love all my fans 😭) fan, but here with harsher lang because I have hate for this fucking bitch who hasn't even given me a "Thank you" for anything and has just fucking ghosted me after she got out the last time:
1. The Junkie Neighbor and The Cat. Her fucking going in and out of rehab fucked up my creative process because I had to take care of the cat and her apartment every night for long stretches at a time. I've posted pics of kitty, and will post the last one I think I'll ever take with him (😭😭😭😭😭 I raised him from a kitten) under the cut. This bitch was supposed to be my friend, but she has fucking...problems with herself and her personality disorder. I have zero idea why she hasn't responded and I don't even know where the fuck she is. So if she's reading (I think she knows of this blog), the YOU'RE FUCKING WELCOME, BITCH. And what you're doing right now is fucked up.
2. My 17yo dog is on his last legs. I've written how he's had seizures, but I haven't written how his barking after a seizure can get me a noise complaint from my shitty building manager, so that shit makes me anxious. I hand feed him, I help him get water the same way Peter Griffin helped Old Brian in that cutaway:
youtube
I wrap my boy's pills in gummies, not PB and beef 💀
LOL Except I don't have to push his tongue into the water like that. And I have to do it every...day...when he's awake. This is a disruption in my creative process too, because I REALLY wanted to pass out around 4PM today to be able to map and write all night but couldn't because he just would not settle. Dogs with dementia are like people with dementia, but less propensity towards violence when you try to help them (at least my old dogs are...they're small dogs and don't have any teeth left).
I didn't even mention my own health problems, in my explanation about how Afterburn's creation got messed. I've got Stage 4 CKD (kidney disease) and only 1 working kidney (lost the other to cancer in 2016). My kidney issues began when I was in France in 1986 and they failed on me because I ended up having HSP (and the strange nature of HSP and the possibility of certain vaccinations bringing on HSP in a few people has left me practically defenseless against COVID). Another HSP flare up would literally kill me (because there would likely be kidney involvement, and since I only have one left...the first time was Hell on Earth, I was pissing and shitting blood — stool is black when that happens...and my urine was bright red — and my parents thought I was gonna die), but I've been masking since January 2020 and have no intention of unmasking.
Having one kidney leaves me utterly exhausted to do any simple thing, so most of my energy goes to taking care of my boy/my girls. I'm on BP meds, PTSD meds, and pain meds (for chronic pain; I suffered through childhood arthritis that just ended up continuing into my adulthood), and when the Big Pharma pain meds don't work, I use cannabis. I don't really talk about or complain about it as explicitly as I am now bc it's tiring to explain over and over again why I'm a useless sack of 💩. I worked a "normal job" until I couldn't anymore; I am physically disabled.
Besides my seniors, the one other bright spot in my life is the baby. I have an Ask that wants more pics of her (I got it shortly after I posted her "Lookit me, I'm Jenna Ortega 🤓🤓🤓" glasses pic LOL), and I was going to do a whole post on her but I'll just slip a pic or two under the cut with the others.
I'll stop yapping and do that. Dogs under the cut.
This is my life now:
And before anyone gets on me about "HE NEEDS WET FOOD!", he gets wet food, but he likes his dry food. I try to spray it with water for a bit of moisture, but if I spray it too much, he won't eat it.
The orange on his face is pasta sauce (he likes licking cans...and he gets what he wants).🫠 It's sometimes hard to clean. He is always wearing pajamas (he has 6 different ones) and his elephant hoodie (he's got 3 of the same, so I can switch them out). Weird story but...one time several years ago I got him a simple elephant costume (the hood had the trunk, the body was thin jersey material but it also had 4 plush legs and a tail 🤣) and he LOVED it so much that he basically wore it out. He would get sad when it wasn't on him and excited when I would hold it up after it dried/after washing. He's fkn weird, okay? So I looked online to see if I could find another one but instead found the elephant hoodie. It doesn't have legs or a tail, but it has the trunk and it's soft and he likes it as well. Having him clothed really helps when I need to hoist him up onto the couch or help him drink. He doesn't have loose skin and even if he did, I wouldn't want to grab onto skin. It's my job to make him as comfortable as possible, not to hurt him.
Now this little (17yo as well) old lady here:
I inherited her from a nasty (racist) old bat who died right before the pandemic. Bat had CKD as well, but she went into kidney failure at some point after she wouldn't listen to me about fixing her diet (she had uncontrolled diabetes too...her blood sugar was over 400 at one point when I was visiting her at her physical rehab with the dog 😨).
She is blind, but even before she went blind, she was freaky about being handled when she didn't used to be. She can't walk outside because she gets disoriented, so she uses the pee pad set up I have for the seniors. I do love her like my own, as she is my own now (my last screenplay actually features a dog just like her). She was part of the same dog group as my boy in the rescue that I worked at...my other boy from the same rescue passed in 2021 and devastated me. His passing led me to find this little baby here:
She only wears jammies when it's cold in here.
I had never gotten a puppy before, but I was in a really dark place when my other boy died. I was seriously contemplating taking myself out too (God knows I have enough drugs here to do so). But I channeled my grief into cleaning up this place and finding another pomchi/chion (we were never sure what he was, but I think he might've been part Papillon because of his ears/fur/tail)...and I found one, albeit chocolate instead of white. I've had her since she was 8 weeks and a day, and thank the gods that she's the sweetest and pretty low maintenance. I raised her on Harry Potter 1 and 2 and Victoria Stilwell videos, and she somehow picked up what good behavior is vs. bad behavior from the Stilwell videos 😶. She used to howl at Harry Potter during the Neville scenes and the Quidditch matches (and the Mandrakes scene). I didn't want to raise her on Potter, but I chose it because it was kid's thing and as soon as I put it on her eyes were glued to the TV. She also likes Stranger Things and is okay with Wednesday. She's spoiled af, so she's got toys from all of those (she ate off the legs of her fave Harry Potter plush, adores her Eleven squeaky toy, and loves her Enid plush...yes, the Kid Robot one that came in a set with Wednesday and Bianca, the latter of which I kept for myself because it's fkn Bianca).
Anyway. That's what's up with me. I have no one here to help me anymore, so it's just me and the dogs. If I fkn die, no one will find my body for days unless one of the dogs starts barking, and the baby doesn't normally bark (she wheeks like a guinea pig). I will likely ask one of the ficwives if they would be willing to at least know my notes for Afterburn in case something does happen to me. They know the general trajectory of the story for Afterburn 2, so they already know what happens with Wenovan, but they don't know the details of the whole (the Goodmen, Joseph Crackstone & Goody, OG Nightshades (Morticia, Gomez, Larissa, Chancellor, Vincent, Mina (the Twins' mother), Francoise, Osamu (Yoko's father), the Petropoluses, and Grandmama Addams (the oldest living "local" Nightshade)) story. I've yet to decide on a few other Elder Nightshades, but I've got ideas. The Nightshades and Wednesday's power as one are a BIG focus of Afterburn 2, so maybe now you get my irritance at the fkn show deleting 2/3 of them.
My boy's sleeping now so I guess I ought to sleep too, otherwise he'll wake up when I'm about to sleep and THAT fucks me up even more.
ETA: Forgot the pic of the cat.
My buddy, Prince (the name he was given when he was born, so ✨I✨ kept it, but his weirdo mom named him "Tennessee Tuxedo"). Wow, Tennessee... I just now realized that.... To me he will always be Prince Ovaltine of Meowcatsia, a cat who adored playing tag with me. 💔💔💔💔💔

Not to be overly tmi but mild rant about endo and not being consistent with replies across platforms under cut.
Tdlr- Ceth's really sick again.
I've been bleeding since like Friday and I'm starting to be a bit concerned with the amount of blood I'm actually losing. I'm having that massive period at the end of a severe endometriosis flair up that was triggered around Easter. It's a bit um...much?
Just got over a migraine but the sleeping I needed to do for that had me bleeding through everything about 3 times so just like...I can't sleep right atm and I'm concerned it could trigger a seizure. Let's not even mention the pain I'm in during this. I have retriggered a vascular burn on my back from how hot I've needed these heating packs...and tbh I'm not happy with having to be high on pain meds. Even if cannabis helps better than anything. I'm just tired.
Going to the doctor soon but urg. It's astounding how few of my body parts work! So naturally I'm overwhelmed and a bit concerned with hourly bleeds so I'm being sporadic on here again. Will post art wips but maybe less replies etc until I get actual spoons.

How do we know if a drug creates a physiological dependence for the user
well, for one, alcohol and opiate withdrawal can both kill you, depending on the severity of the dependence. i think that's one clue that alcohol dependence is not like (say) behaviorial addictions (porn, gambling) or compulsive use of cannabis. there are obviously other drugs which produce less severe physiological dependence, in that they won't kill you if you suddenly stop taking them, but the effects can still be quite dramatic--benzodiazepene withdrawal, for example, can cause nighmares, hallucinations, muscular spasms, and seizures.
