Edward drugs shilo for shits and giggle presumably to ruin his night and to embarrass himself because it was a hallucinogen. The drug being administered when he forces shilo to drink from a body, a form of drinking shilo's body doesnt accept. Edward kipnapping shilo into his bed changing his clothing (pjs and later outfit). The entire blood bond, first drink being when he was unconscious and the second under false assumptions.

Going back to shilo’s lack of control its done to him by adults far older than him. Shilo gets treated like a child, one that needs pampering and protecting. While frustrating for shilo he is only 18 within the story, barely an adult. These adults being, his mother, deacon and arthur (to a lesser extent) all of which are people he seeks out for protection. he leans heavily on them to provide him with food, blood. And Edward in his second appearance tells shilo he can teach him, be a guide for him in the strange lands of LA. Edward tries to liken himself to the level of care taker that arthur is to him, while also maintaining a romantic aspect to their relationship. The trope of waking up healed in ur love interest bed. this older man the age of his mother taking card he’s fed (with edwards blood)

OKAY so we have the Hero of Time, Etho, who stopped ganons plans before they started, and would be stuck in a child's body if not for the fact I think that'd be a lil weird for the more shippy aspects of this au that all the running through time aged his soul and his body followed suit (he's still got a young appearance, and the mask doesn't make him look older like he thinks). Same reason he has the scar over his eye (from the ganon fight); no matter how much the body may heal or rewind the mind will not forget.

Then navi (maybe bdubs?) left him, and he went with epona (maybe bdubs instead? (eponas a horse iydk)) and he sets out on a journey aka the beginning of mm:

Wandering through the woods on epona, gets jumped by skull kid. For those unaware, there is skull kid, a lonely lil sweetheart, and he wears the mask, an entity on its own. He also has two fairies, siblings tael and tatl.

So I was a little unsure about this for a while, but I think I've decided on grian for the skull kid and Jimmy for tael, grian bc watchers and Jimmy bc skull kid is not very nice to tael (bc of the mask) and like a listeners reference or smth blah blah blah

TATL. that's who's interesting. At the beginning she gets separated from her friends and becomes your companion. So naturally for this au she is our favourite joel smallishbeans. It works so well. Tatl is mean but cares, and that's joels dynamic with the bad boys and with etho, guys it's literally perfect idc what you say

I think it doesn't change much throughout like the story of the game, but just taking dialogue tatl says to link and its so perfect for a sassy joel to a "can't believe I'm dealing with this shit again" etho. Uh one thing different though; in hylian form etho doesn't have an ocarina but instead a mini marimba. Just because. I think it's cool, and for potential things later on.

Now, fairies in this au are just tiny glowing people shaped things with wings. The glow around them is their magic, and depending on emotions/energy the brightness changes (thats why they look like flying balls of light). Some fairies have the ability to make projections of themselves, more hylian sized in nature. This can be intimidation or distraction or w/e, but they cant do it for long periods of time bc its exhausting. These forms aren't physical. Just sized up light projections of their actual bodies.

So for a lot of their journey, joel is just a cute pocket sized ball of rage and sarcasm, who helps with ethos aim for fighting. Bc that's a game mechanic and also ethos like half blind. But like when joel calms down imagine him crawling into ethos hat and just dozing off. He can fit in the palm of your hand like guys it's so cute. But he is also capable of being worse than a mozzie

Oh probably a good point to put in what I imagine etho looks like. So it's typical link green (maybe a bit dampened?), weird pointy hat, short hair (white ofc), his shirt is more of a jacket with a fluffy cold weather collar, it's a bit too big for him but he knows he'll grow into it, he's all knobbly and thin (underfed a lil, boy was never taught how to care for himself beyond basic survival). His injured eye is red bc of ganon, and often gives him phantom pains. It can't be healed.

Anyway, at some point in their journey together, etho and joel learn a song that let's fairies have a larger physical form, no wings, sorta like the great fairies (who they learnt it from prolly). It isn't permanent, slowly draining ethos magic meter, the spell ends when you run out of magic. This is because I want them to actually be able to stand side by side or maybe hug, and also bc its hard to block a blow with your body when ur tennis ball sized.

Aaaaand, this ties back in with with marimba. What if ethos injured, or unconscious, and he obviously can't defend himself, so joel panics and plays the marimba in what he hopes is the right order to give himself a body. I imagine that being that small, you could not play an ocarina. And hey maybe joel carries etho away after that, and when the spell ends he has barely any light emitting from himself because he spent nearly all his magic (what he is made of) saving etho.

But this song isn't used much, because of its draining nature, and you can't really do any other magic things while it's going. So it's mostly just in the final fight (over and over) or tough moments or maybe joel wants to experience something like hoe hylians do. It's obviously inferior to how he experiences things as a fairy, of course, he's just curious thats all. He totally doesn't want etho to do it more.

Okay I think ill sorta stop here, I am NOT done, I will probably post some art I've done for this later lol, and I want help with who everyone else is (mumbo is the moon. You cannot stop me nor change my mind) with mcyts to npcs

warning! its been a little while since i played through recom, so the game isnt as fresh in my mind as some others. sorry for any innacuracies!

spoiler alert, this is my second favorite kingdom hearts game. at least of the ones i've played so far. i get that this isn't like. a POPULAR opinion but fuck you i have almost nothing but positives to say about it.

let's start with the easy stuff first. recom introduced a new card-based combat system. i cant compare it to the gba version, since i didn't play that, but i can say that for what its worth i DID enjoy the combat. recom is by far the hardest game so far (at least for me) and almost every boss took multiple days for me to beat, even with my hp maxed out. it took me a while to get the combat system, but id honestly love to replay the game now that i have a better understanding of how it works. the card system requires a lot of quick thinking and i get that it isnt everyones taste but its CERTAINLY mine. every fight is difficult and feels genuinely rewarding when you win. the movement, like kh1, can use a lot of work, but i wouldnt call it terrible. just kinda sluggish. i think my favorite boss fight was larxene. shes a pain in the ass but i love her.

i think riku's side dropping the deck building mechanic isnt terrible, but i wish i could reorder his deck at the very least. and the lack of healing cards is. not fun. basically any damage you take is permanent unless you HAPPEN to get mickey and its simply Not a fun time. im not very good at games okay.

i have a lot less to say about the worlds than the combat. they're definitely the worst aspect of the game, though. the idea of making worlds with cards is fine! it just leads to kind of repetitive world design. the stories are forgettable, so forgettable that i literally forgot them. and i could make a point about how thats the idea its a game all about forgetting things!! but honestly that just making excuses for it. the worlds couldve kept the idea of forgetting things without literally making them forgettable. i say this about every world, except for one. because DESTINY ISLANDS

destiny islands is just. so fucking good in recom. its the climax of both sora and rikus stories and i think theyre both amazing. id have to say i prefer rikus, soley because of the visual storytelling you get from his side of it, and thats not to say soras is bad at all. but something about zexion telling riku that its his fault his home was destroyed, as riku sees a version of himself turning into a literal monster? thats just good okay. its really good.

i ADORE the characters in this game too. everything we get from them is sooo good. it's the introduction to the organization and all of them (except lexaeus who did literally nothing) are a treat. axels my favorite ofc, but larxene is such a fun villain, you love to hate her. shes really the star of the org cast in this game. sure, axels may have said its his show now, but larxene stole the spotlight.

its namines introduction, too, and i love her. on one hand, shes just really kind. she wants a friend, she wants someone to talk to, she wants to meet sora. on the other, shes just a little bit fucked up actually. sure, shes honest with sora, but shes the tiniest little bit guilt trippy and i LOVE THAT. her response to sora saying he wants to get back his own memories and forget her is "oh okay. you want to remember your REAL friends, huh? theyre the ones who REALLY matter to you? yeah anyone would want that. no friends for namine i guess." like shes just a bit salty and we love that for her. i want slightly guilt tripping and salty namine back nomura.

but ofc one of my favorite new characters in this game HAS to be repliku. god i ADORE repliku. his hatred for riku is sooo fun and the way he fights with sora is great too. like in soras side i thought he was a neat villain but rikus side? hes amazing omfg. one of the only villains i liked in rikus story (sorry lexaeus, you werent good until days)

over all, this game certainly isnt everyones cup of tea, but its DEFINITELY mine. it's the game im most excited to replay at some point, mostly because of the amazing boss fights. 9/10. its got issues, but the story and characters are so good that i genuinely could not care less about like. most of them.

actually bc im never gonna shut up abt it while im still on this im gonna ramble abt botw and totk and maybe how i wouldve written a sequel . & i will pay u money to listen i promise

my favoritest of totks ideas are what it expands from botw. botws whole atmosphere is drowned in quiet mourning. something bad has happened but it was a long time ago. it still hurts but theres nothing to be done now but move forward. something is still missing but all you can do is find something else. nobody has resources to rebuild and you can hear deafening echoes of better times but the alternative is giving up. you are in this frozen state of not quite moving on and not quite in despair. like the numbness stage of grief. and the pivotal element of all of that is that link is alone. like, oppressively alone. its the primary vehicle of conveying this mood. and its interesting because this can be read not only as what link is experiencing through the player but what zelda is feeling as she holds back ganon. its an interesting contrast to have zelda mature faster than link in the flashbacks, only for link to pull her the rest of the way by growing himself

and the reason why i so strongly adore the light dragon aspect of the plot is because it shows how attached to everything zelda has gotten. arguably, zelda held back ganon in botw because she loved link. in totk, she becomes the light dragon because she loves hyrule, which had previously been so unimaginably cruel to her. the crux of her character is learning that attachment is good. loving is good. you deserve to leave an imprint on the world in a shape of Your choosing instead of being another factory print on a paper. on a surface level, shes making the same choice, but the motivation and growth behind it is really powerful

i could waffle for literally ever about all that and the point is that totk takes these ideas and implements them really well through in-game worldbuilding and specifically zelda turning into the light dragon. i would occasionally get extremely emotional just seeing how things have expanded because it feels like the world is finally moving on. theres a catharsis in seeing hyrule finally heal after knowing its desolation so intimately, especially because the state of the land itself is such a strong parallel to the arcs of the two main characters, so you get the sense that not only can people move on, link and zelda specifically have started to as well. thats my favorite part

thats why i think its an odd choice that they decided on a time travel plot. if zelda HAS to be the one getting saved, if she cant be a companion in some way either via sheikah facetime or spirit tracks shenanigans or whatever, there are lots of ways to do this without her being magic fruit snacked ten bajillion years into the past. why spend all this effort intertwining her and link with the land, only to remove her from the equation and have no further growth? in botw its understandable that hyrule is stagnant and only changes when link does because zelda is stagnant and link is doing the one changing during the game. in totk its the opposite. there are lots of ways to do this with out Having to play as zelda (though honestly that would be the way id go about it)

also a lot of my own ideas have to do with the wasted potential of a place like the depths???? what the hell do you mean theres this mind bogglingly big cavern underneath the entirety of hyrule which mysterious people used to live in and it has almost no story relevance beside being a cool setpiece???????? I FEEL INSANE?!?!??!?!? there are so many good ideas in totk that never get expanded dude FUCK

i think no matter how much i speculate and draft my own preferences of how i wouldve liked totk to elaborate on the things it introduces i cant ever bring myself to present them like they couldve realistically happened and gotten thru the nintendo writing room simply bc of the games format. if it were up to me doing certain story missions would radically change the open world as events happened in real time and thats not the MO of the game's design philosophy. honestly totk's biggest enemy is the memory system and i need to kill it with fire

sooo mad i cant draw gore that well do you know how often id just start drawing kirimis fucked up mo3 eye . hes already like a default character i go to for drawing since his design is a little more ‘complex’ but still. sometimes i think about how in mo3 sigkin slashed his eye and comtinued on leaving him there which is jarring enough as is but. Later on hed have to remove the eye since a laceration that deep obviously renders the eye useless as well as at risk for a nasty infection (which who knows what else sigkin mightve dug his scythe into before getting to kirimi, i dont imagine he cleans it often or takes good care of his weapons since he just doesnt seem like the guy, especially when hes on a chocolate induced stupor) okay sorry that was off topic anyways.

how did kirimi get his eye out.

do you think after he got jeraldy and jungle out he had to hide himself and just manually rip it out once they found the supplies to cover it up. like imagine being jungle and jeraldy, barely teenagers and having to hear some guy you barely know but now take up as an older supervisor figure just hide behind some rocks or a tree and dig his hand into his eye socket to remove a defunct eye.

or maybe after the massacre kirimi was in such a state of shock for so long after and in denial of ever getting injured both from adrenaline and how quickly events transpired he just let it get infected and bubbled to the point where if he had kept it any longer the infection would have spread to the rest of his body and become devastating enough to take him out too. he has to sit down with some makeshift medical supplies and mirror (probably a body of stagnant water depending on how far theyd need to wander to other civilization) and just try and operate on himself.

theres like. the third idea of both option 1 and 2 where jeraldy and jungle have to hold kirimi down and force the eye out but i dont necessarily enjoy thinking of that too much since 1. i dont think kirimi would involve anyone except himself in anything to do with any aspect of his health and 2. it would be subjecting jeraldy and jungle to something they definitely dont need to see after a traumatizing event <- aka this would just be trauma on trauma

anyways. gross stuff to think about. Yes i am aware but also i like thinking about realistic aspects like this since even if the numa arent human and can die and come back to life depending on magic im like 100% sure trauma based injuries are in no way able to heal and if they were theyd come back wrong if forced.

again this isnt really a headcanon it just haunts me. davesprite is/was a knight of time right. both serving (and sacrificing for) time and using time as a weapon. thinking about how weapons can both protect and injure, or even kill. thinking about how davesprite probably feels responsible for all those deaths in the doomed timeline. thinking about how he essentially killed himself by travelling back. thinking about how he did it to protect.

...davesprite thinking about what would happen if dave died permanently. hed never do anything. hed never let that happen. but... the timeline needs a dave, right. and davesprite would still be there. hed never do anything to make it happen. but what if that was his chance.

i love the idea that dsprite acts more like dirk and hal acts more like dave (mirroring their text colours). i just think its fun

idk if you intentioned it like that, but as someone with chronic pain and fatigue, mike's condition half rotting condition makes me feel at least a bit more seen :,D

Sometimes days are harder than other, overworking is always on the table when you used to be an overachiever before your illness, the constant horror from other people too that , and the fear of some days being worse than others, the fear that you have overdone it so bad that you cant go further like the day before.

There is a fear some disabled people with this stuff dont talk about often because of not wanting to be pitied or looked for, so the more visual depicton of the rotting rather than the internal feeling is a way to kind of emphasize "This is pain. There is a limit he reached and keeps overcoming, even as he is falling apart"

This though also allows for the plant regrowth of mike to also be a hopeful thing of what comes when you finally respect the limits of your own body and learn how to treat it. Allowing your body to heal and you to learn new ways of enjoying time, even if its not the same as it used to be. Its not the same and might never be, but there are other, gentler ways to enjoy things now. Now you are even enjoying the bird chirp you never heard as you were rushing from task to task.

Once again sounds probably like rambling, but mike is just his own little garden of eden and learning how to tend to it means learning how to tend to himself too

thank you so much for this message, i'm really happy to see that this aspect of michael's character comes through because that's exactly what i'm trying to portray. michael is very much meant to show the physical and mental burnout one is left with after years of overachieving and perfectionism, coupled with becoming ill in a way that prevents him from continuing to achieve that standard. some days he tries to work to that same capacity, but he realizes more and more he's pushing himself to extremes when he's left combating much more severe symptoms as a result. at first, he fights against his body, treating it as an enemy, an obstacle, a weakness, forcing it beyond what it can now do because acceptance is just too difficult. if he can still perform as he once did, if he never slows and carries out his duty as the prince of heaven and warden of hell, then nothing has changed. he can make himself sick over and over again, trapping himself in a vicious cycle that only breaks down a body in desperate need of more care, but if he can still, eventually, force himself through another day of how he once could serve, he can deny his illness. but through the care of his siblings and v2, he gains an increasing appreciation for his body as it is now and what it is capable of. understanding his limits is a slow process, but as his fear and anger and grief are attended to, so can he now attend to his body, feel love for it and for the plants that grow in it now. they're so happy to have life and he starts to feel through them, finding himself in this body like he never before had the chance to.

i was diagnosed with a chronic illness a few years ago, and i went through these stages to arrive now in a place where my life is very different from before but i'm okay with it. i wanted michael to be similar, and that's also why i don't find a way to just "heal" characters - they are not broken because they are ill, and i want them to achieve fullness in that illness. michael actually lives a much more peaceful life in this new body, one that initially invoked so much hatred and fear but becomes beautiful as its own little garden even though it is the same as it has been ever since it died. there is still difficulty no matter how long it's been, there is still frustration and hardship through what has been lost, but he, overall, is happier, calmer, and more connected to himself than he was before his illness. disability is a complex thing and i know we don't all relate to it the same, but i just drew on my own experience and im so glad it could resonate with you too.

It's hope. It's a future worth having and wanting, even when you feel trapped in the past (like prince henry), when you feel like you might fall off a cliff if you take the leap (Alex saying he loves him, trying to win an election that changes the whole direction a country goes and if people like Alex can even fucking exist safely, Henry's life being determined by if the populace can accept or discard him when the existing historical powers only seek to repress, the fucking WAY this movie goes opposite to so many romcoms and so much "soft bl" type stories by being so overtly fucking political is good actually. It's fucking great. It's like this, Florida is telling kids they can't know gay people exist and this movie is saying we can fucking be politicians, we can be in love, we can change the world, we can be what children aspire to in making their world better and kinder to all. It's like. The message. The message to make a son of a president bisexual and in a spotlight in a current world where they're making laws we can't even be out. Cause that's rhe world we want. And we know it's not the world we may have and we may lose that right at any time but we're fucking brave and we are going to fucking exist and we DO want a world where we fucking get to be us as loudly and happily and joyfully and hopefully as everyone, and where we Matter and can do so much fucking good by existing and trying our best.

And then like. They cast Uma Thurman as the president! God!

And like. they PLAYED CANT HELP FALLING IN LOVE. THE SONG. THE SONG!!!!!! listen I never read twist and shout that destiel fic, but I know culturally it's SUCH a song, it's a song i remember singing about lovers and so many people think fondly of their loves with THAT song and it was so perfectly and beautifully used in this movie.

The decision to be clear about queer sexuality in this movie. Superb. Fucking phenomenal, like the whole movie. So often queerness is sanitized, downplayed, considered inherently "unsafe" (which leads to the laws attempting to harm us), and so to make the romance as sexual as any straight movie fucking THANK YOU. To make it romantic, to not shy away from that either, to not lessen its impact as inherently so romantic and sweet and intimate, the hands. The hands, a trademark of any good queer romance, such a beautiful use of hands as the reveal of emotion and love. I loved the care and tenderness put into it. And the realism oh my fucking God! The awkward conversation about making love! Sweet! Real! Real love is silly, awkward, imperfect and not smooth and so wonderful BECAUSE of that. Because real life isn't perfect but it is because that's the person that makes your world feel brighter and brings a smile to your face even when they say and do silly things! Queer people deserve it, we deserve that in our stories on our screens I loved it all.

I loved rhe writing and direction. To absolute pieces. I've seen cheesy shallow romcoms and while I admit there's good aspects to them, they're not for me. This was for me. And this had a lot of layers under the romance. Henry had a whole fucking personal arc I think a fuck ton of people cab relate to. The way him leaving is akin to people who've left me because they could NOT leave the closet the way I could. The way Alex having healthy parents changes SO much of this story and how healthily HE communicates and how much easier it is for him to act and solve problems, and how that support helps Henry respond to him and answer. And stand up for Himself once it's time to. And that says so fucking much about what parents can do, siblings (Henry's sister was amazing versus his brother), about how secure attachments can be healing, about how communicating more really can solve a fuck ton. Truly. It's truly the biggest key to getting through stuff. How the political is so inherent in Alex's past, present, future, how the movie doesn't have to address anything But the romance plot while STILL addressing so much. A world where Henry is a symbol "people love for their symbol" who gets loved for who he is and the future clashing with the past, progress and healing and growth versus history and conservatism and regression. There's so much fucking going on if you just watch. It's all worth hearing.

Alex being a great brave bi disaster I wouldn't have it any other fucking way. They say BISEXUAL IN THIS FUCKING MOVIE. If little 12 year old mejo had a movie do that I could've avoided so much trauma and isolatoon growing up! If I could live in a world as a child with people who said the word bi out loud and that it isn't silent? If I could live in a world where a politician was aloud to be bi growing up? God that could have been a kinder hopeful world for little mejo. And that is the world now, at least in one movie, and I want that for the little kids now who are living in a world with lawmakers that hate them but also so many people like us, like the writer of this novel and script, who want those children to feel SAFE and like they matter and they are allowed to take up space and WANT GOOD THINGS.

And of course, on a shallower level, I loved Alex. I loved him as a representation of what America could be. Which in a way I felt like while you can't summarize a nation with a single person, that's in a way what Alex and Henry felt like. Values slammed into real living people, and of course with the excellent writing they become so much MORE than shallow symbols (but in a weaker story they couldve been). But like. Yeah. I see it. Alex is brave, he isn't afraid to change the world for the better and want To. He wants to put in the effort. Be involved. He's not shy, he's not scared to love or hate or embarrass himself and pull himself back up and try again. His ego isn't critical and he will go across an ocean and at LEAST communicate and have a discussion and only take a real answer. His mom is HIS MOM and he's still got the guts to tell her who he is and his ideas (romantic AND political) and he was raised in the kind of loving family id hope many people get, a family that he knew would never imprison him or hurt him or reject him. He and Henry are not alike for their status as political figures. Despite appearances. Henry is of the same generation and I think he wants to help and make meaning of his life by making it useful for others. In that regard they click. But Henry was raised in rules, respects those social norms, is aware of and respectful of history in a way Alex is not (and to generalize I'd say the average non rich American I know is probably closer to Alex than Henry in terms of respect for meaningless rules and following history for the sake of it being how things were always done), Henry may not even be like the average person in his country. He's removed from them, isolated from them, stuck in this system of the past, and so walled up inside this system he doesn't get the privilege to simply Not Care. To simply not notice it. Alex remembers what it's like to be completely removed from it. Henry has been aware of it ever since he was 4 and had memories. There's so much to say about how the structure of the characters themselves represent various structures in the world. Alex and Henry are more than that. As characters they're people Actively Affected by those systems. But this story is so fucking fascinating on so many layers and I'm so GLAD. Thank you

This is the kind of movie I fucking wanted. Like, Love Simon was a great movie for the time It came out. And for the audience it was made for: teenagers, Disney movie target audience, who deserved a nice sweet childhood style romcom for them. Who had a million ones for other teenagers, so here's one with coming out in suburbia and sweet romances without much pain. Here's a High School musical type movie for a new generation. And it was good. And frankly it still is, it broke ground as a movie with overt queerness made for teenagers. And still it's probably one of the only ones, I can't think of many newer queer stories MADE INTO MOVIES specifically FOR kids. There's Heartstopper, but that's a standout, thank God for heartstopper too. And Heartstoppers a show so it has more time to do more for teens, show more characters and complications of teen life. I appreciate it deeply. But back to Love Simon: it's a one off. I think teens need 100 more movies like it. But adults? We also deserve 100 queer romcoms. And more movies like THIS, like Red White and Royal Blue. That are more then a quickly written poorly produced hallmark quality movie. That you sink your teeth into and could write essays about. That a straight person Says Pride and Prejudice is one of the BEST romance movies and we can say cool, here's 10 queer romance movies that are just as phenomenal. Anyway that's what this fucking movie is to me. You can disagree, tastes differ, totally valid babes you do you.

And like. Henry. I'm gonna go read the book for him in case it's got more. I really think the movie did so many cool things with his personal character arc. That comments on family dynamics, the closet, the trauma of the past (and in many areas the current political regression and harm), the way historic systems control and damage people (both people inside and the entire wider populace they influence), the way things even in the Best circumstances can be truly Imperfect because that's the real world. In the real world, you can fall in love and there's nothing to do but try your best to keep being with each other as the world puts obstacles you'll never destroy in your way (and some truly awful ones). And like. The fact that Henry gets a happy ending. Talk about queer fucking happiness. Talk about wish fulfillment, but without sparing my feelings first. The movie made me feel the very Real fear and threat first. The reality that people like Henry leave all the time and sometimes nothing can last forever without being a danger to the person involved, the reality that their conversation in Henry's room was so fucking high intensity to My fucking heart. And I've stood there. I've been them. The election too, I figured a movie would fear being political (you know lol despite being queer). But movies nowadays, they do fear. They fear saying they care about it, when for fucks sake there's places we can visit and not have the right to exist so fuck That. And it's a fictional election. But my hearts in my throat and I bet Alex's is too. Alex is safe if his mom loses, he's a rich politicians kid. But I've Sat on election night and lived through trump winning. And knowing that meant women losing their rights and safety, queer people losing their rights and safety, knowing every Single election people sit there and wonder if anything will be okay tomorrow. For ordinary people. For people like Alex if his mom never became a politician. For his mom, his dad, his abuela. And in a way sure the movies heavy handed. Frankly I'm gonna forgive it, I could give a fuck about heavy handed. I liked the Barbie movie, but that movie sure was gentle for being called "very feminist." Women are getting arrested for abortions. It's not very on the nose or heavy handed when that's not even really a major issue (not that it needs to be, a movie about a doll wasn't ever expected to be heavily handed political). But this movie? The presidents a main character. To avoid politics would be Expected of a romcom, but shitty. So yeah why not lean in and be heavy handed. They don't have to say it, because this movie is an optimistic future where people like Alex are fine. But there's a weight to what if his mom loses, what if Alex can't hold hands next time he goes to a certain state. But I hope the people who watch this movie, one day, don't even feel those stakes. Because they don't have to. Because the world's like it was for Henry, kind and accepting. Because more of the world is that way then not.

And I'm glad it ended happy, but real if that makes sense. It's an optimism I can carve out eventually, you can. Eventually. If we keep trying.

If anyone saw Fire Island, another great queer movie, that one also didn't shy away from political. It's a romance too, and it was frank about queer communities and people and us with each other versus how the wider world is in relation to us. I appreciated with Red White and Royal Blue another movie that felt like that. That felt a bit closer to honest, rather than sugar coating both our identities and our experiences in the world to make it easier to palette. There's a time and place for sugar coating it (teen movies that aim for kind to us like Love Simon are a good place) but there's also a time when I don't want anyone straight coddled. I want them to see us make love and KNOW it's love. I want them to see us for who WE are, even the degree that we are different and that the world Does make us endure hoops and pains it never forces on straight people, and make them Care about us and learn to relate to us if they want to enjoy our romance. They wanna care about us falling in love? They can care about what we have to go through and be brave about and empathize with people who don't always flirt like they do or follow the same path. I'm fucking over the Moon that this movie asks its audience to view life and love and the whole world from the perspective of an optimistic political bisexual young man. Even if you're nothing like him, try to connect. And likewise, Alex is being asked to try to understand a man who has his own very Different experiences to Alex. Henry again, asks the audience a second time to relate to a man both they and Alex cannot relate their own life experiences to. Even further, if Alex is assumed straight when you go in and you learn to accept hes bi, then Henry makes the audience also reach to accept Henry is gay. Idk if straight people consider that another hurdle lol as they both seem hurdles to straight people I've seen. But also Henry is old money, royalty even, and fuck I know absolutely no one who can personally connect to that or even knows someone in their social circle who's fucking royalty. But Alex is asked to connect and relate, and so are we, and hopefully we grow and expand a bit as we do. And maybe that's part of what we're supposed to leave this story with. That the world is wide and beautiful and full of so many experiences and there's value in them and in trying to understand their values and pain and hoping for all of us to have a kinder world we're allowed to exist within. I don't know. I'm too tired to know all this movies got to offer.

But as I said. Red White and Royal Blue is fucking phenomenal.

as much as i find the initial freedom reboarding scene very poignant of kira and lacus' relationship and their trust to each other in destiny it also very blatantly showcases why they should just not ever be romantically involved together without a third person.

kira and lacus have this mutual passivity over the others harmful actions toward themselves. they have a mutual enablement of the others issues as the only person who can understand the other, which is furthered by their Sword and Wielder dynamic.

kira and lacus ever having a genuine romantic dependence on the other would actually make them so much worse. it would so quicky become this twisted obsession to the other in vastly different ways adhering to these percieved roles of their relationship on a foundational level of what brought them together in the first place

its not INTENTIONAL either is the thing when it would come to the  romantic aspect. kira with his belief of being used in a relationship is  normal and lacus, whos trying to be the clearheaded one, cant help  slipping into the manipulation because its what would be making kira feel fulfilled within the relationship.

knowing she has to do this for kiras fulfillment in the relationship would lead to this dangerous cycle of both of then drastically worsening. kiras specific needs lead her to reinforcing the personal belief that she is only suited for this type of manipulative relationship.

like as much as it would be nice to see them in a healthy relationship. i dont believe they are capable of it without also both loving someone else who can help them heal from these mental states and separate them from their deep trauma-based psychological attachment to each other.

kira and lacus have a very unhealthy and precarious relationship in destiny according to fukuda himself. its entirely possible they may "break up" from their platonic situationship in freedom, or something else will happen in this case.

if kira and lacus do end up being an actual endgame romance with gundam seed freedom i genuinely hope they both have their acts together and are a bit more stable and less psychologically dependent on the other.

have i said this before?? im gonna say it here right here rn

so i got a lil hc au for dsmp right? ngl its been difficult catching up with canon that my partner and i stemmed so far from it to create our own storyline out of it. :] i love thinking of it as an “ongoing” storyline. instead of things ending the way they did in the canon, it kinda keeps going. and it focuses more on the wholesome relational bonds they all make with each other, healing from their trauma.

for example, sam has grown far BEYOND his warden era. after realizing how much of a toll becoming a guard for the prison was and how little it did for his health, he retired out of it. he tried fixing himself up. especially struggling with insomnia, he’s tried reaching out for help. finding comfort in ponk, bonding with puffy, reconnecting with tommy and tubbo, who he used to be distant from.

tommy has made numerous attempts to move on from his past traumas. he’s found himself coping with making crafts and bracelets, sitting in the grass with tubbo and ranboo, reconnecting with his brother who he’s lost for years up until his revival (haha wilbur ofc), and overally rebuilding himself.

wilbur *especially* has a hugely developed character arc going on. instead of the canon where he comes back revived as a villain willing to finish off what he’s started, he’s come back miserable. after years of rest in limbo, the sudden shock revival has brought to him leaves him lost, unsure how to begin his new life. he’s isolated himself from the ones he used to love, afraid to make connections in fear of being ostracized by them. he suffers from body pain, hearing loss, especially for how long he’s been dead, i can imagine it completely altered his body. this was early revivebur, but to this day he’s been healing from that. <:)

ranboo, quackity, phil, techno, or niki?? i could go on and on about what we’ve changed about em :}

reason i havent talked about this yet is how complex it’s become HGAHSGS!! my partner and i have been building up this lil thing for years from roleplays n crap man. it’s practically expanded so far from the storyline with its own subplots that i cant talk about every little detail we made up? but the best i could do is show little tidbits here and there through my art. :]

in the au, i’d like to think its very similar to the canon in a way that the characters behave, the events play out, and their relationships. the main thing that differs is how we’ve cut off a lot of the aspects that just dont line up with the way we hc em. (examples: we didnt agree with sam’s apathy and aggression in the prison, the infected egg subplot thing, ranboo dying?, and kinda the characters in general permanently dying off, unless they came back revived in some significant way.)

things like lmanburg or doomsday we havent figured out how to include em in the storyline, but if we had to include them, they might be altered just to fit with our hcs. stay tuned for that teehee

its a silly au made by folks that couldnt catch up with the canon! so we just took the dsmp and went “this is ours now” 😁 smiles so evilly

thoughts on weak hero class 1 and wishes if season 2 is gonna happen

i get the change in sooho's character in the drama, i do, and it makes sense and i do like some aspects of it

admittedly i still prefer that innately kind and eccentric boy whos lowkey embarrassing and kinda shameless

ridiculously charitable and takes the initiative to provide what he can to make things better for everyone using the money and prizes he earns instead of using it for himself

whos not really a fighter from the webtoon

live action sooho's got the vibes, but i cant help but notice how similar he was to ben park

if season 2 happens and it follow sieun in eunjang, then lets assume that the same characters in the webtoon would be adapted

and unlike with sooho, id really prefer it if they dont change ben's character too much

ben is a stone pillar, and hes warm and open

i kinda want them to really lean in with sieun seeing sooho's image in ben

speaking of sieun seeing sooho's image in his new friends, im looking forward to eugene gale

eugene is basically sieun's first friend in eunjang, and we got our first hint of sieun's backstory with sooho by eugene reminding sieun of sooho

esp with the latest chapters in the webtoon too

on the other hand, eugene is also basically a foil for beomseok, whos a lot more relevant in the drama than in the webtoon. so thats gonna be great too

anyway, id really prefer it if live action weak hero in eunjang would be basically sieun's healing journey after the disaster downer that was class 1

adapting sieun's backstory for the live action was pretty smart, esp as the vibes of that flashback arc is a perfect fit for the typical school bullying genre in kdramas

if theyre adapting the main eunjang story, i understand that theyd tone down the action fighting genre thing

so its gonna be a dark school drama again, esp with the war with union plot

but again!

i want it to be mainly sieun's healing journey with his new eunjang friends gradually getting close

like seriously theyre all so fucking soft for sieun and i want to see that in the drama

I cant get the idea of like wukong re-learning peace and awe in some of his powers via xiaotian? Like idk theres a momnets where xiaotian is working on his powers (maybe gold vision or smtg) and instead of the usual excitement mk just breathlessly starts talking abt the small things he see like a breeze thru leaves or the movement of a waterfall, and wukong just..drinks in idea that his powers (smtg that came from him) doesnt have to be only worthwhile in a fight, that someone (mk) can just..enjoy them, breathe them in and happilly coexist with them

Old soul gets a spike of hope/faith from the new genaration, remembers how good the world can be, is where im getting at lol

The idea of Sun Wukong learning to be peaceful again with the help of Xiaotian? Learning to relax and enjoy the aspects of himself that were deemed dangerous? Changing them and turning them into something that can be used to heal? incredible.
