3, who was desperate for praise from someone who reminds them of their direct relatives, does everything he says to do just to be appreciated more.

Cuttlefish taught them how to fight hand to hand. How to move and think on their feet. (Though they were given similar in their younger years)

Cuttlefish was... generally more warm and supportive than their dad, but yknow. A lot of this started bc 3 agreed to work for him. Be his deadly weapon.

Cuttlefish was more concerned abt the Zapfish than 3s well-being then... He knew that the constant praising was working so hes gonna keep doing it. (...mostly bc thats what worked on HIM back then)

After 3 does his dirty work, he realized he should probably keep the kid around bc his paranoia with Octaria is a damn bitch and this kid is one hell of an ass kicker. They dont mind. Right??

3 never showed any sign of wanting to leave. Why would they, he was so kind to them, more than their dad or grandad ever was. (Also the paranoia rubbed off on them. Oops!)

Then, he asked them to go on a longer patrol with him. Pushed them to their fucking limit. Bc of what?? Octaria making moves again? (Octavio did make moves but they were already, as we say in the game, "too far from the objective to really contribute to the fight". This is why agent 4 was dragged in.)

There, 3 saw more and more that hes just a loony old man who wanted to have a fancy weapon to protect him in his crusade. A crusade they never really questioned, mind you. Theyve no reason to believe Octaria was nice in any way, not when they keep trying to kill them. (...in self defense. They havent realized, yet.)

Then they encounter 8, who had dropped her weapon at the sight of them. Raising her hands in surrender. 3 was far ahead of the coot, and managed to actually talk to her and everything. They were this close to bringing her back to Inkopolis as a friend, until the bastard ruined the moment.

Cuttlefish still told them that she was a danger. It might be a trick! Dont put your guard down! Pressured to follow their superior, 3s mask returns to their face, turning onto 8 with the herl shot ready to fire.

Then they all tumbled into the metro.......

....for Cuttlefish to use yet ANOTHER kid (8) to get him out of a hairy situation.

This is a splatoon au ask blog! I'm your humble host, @possiblycringe! I hope you enjoy my silly little au :D This blog will have a overarching story told over time. Most asks will not progress the plot, but Callies behavior and the status quo will change, usually during the course of longer answers or non ask comics. If you are just arriving, I recommend reading through the asks in chronological order. <- Chrono Tag Also, this is a horror au, or at least an au that contains horror in it. There is going to be psychological horror, body horror, and other unpleasant stuff. These aspects will become more apparent later on in the story, though. -The quiet captain of the NSS. She can face down a horde of enemy octarians but when faced with a slightly uncomfortable conversation she will bolt. -Carp is also partially Octarian -(SPOILERS) Carp has been on the sidelines this whole time, but with Callie feral will she step into action? She seems uncomfortable to even talk about it... Agent 3 (Peashooter) and Lil Buddy (Pod)

-The short-tempered, half-fuzzified kid who, for some reason, was recruited by Craig. He seems to not trust easily, but those who gain his trust, such as Craig and Pod, are people he will die for without question. Despite Pod eating the fuzzy ooze just before it transformed him, he doesn't remember anything about his old life, and wants to keep it that way. -(SPOILERS) It seems that Pea has reason not to want to remember his former life, as he had a past similar to the squid sisters...except he was forced into fame at a much younger age, leading to neglect and a belief that genuine joy is simply a facade that he is above -(SPOILERS) In the past, Pea, or as his name used to be, Crumb, had a collaboration with the squid sisters, where Callie comforted him after he tried to run away from set. This memory has inspired a new courage in Pea, who seems to have changed his view on the world just a little Agent 1 (Callie Cuttlefish)

-The cheery premier agent of the NSS and the former pop star, Callie has been enjoying life after her incident with the hypnoshades. Unfortunately, the fuzzy ooze might disrupt that...but she doesn’t seemed very bothered by the changes! -(SPOILERS) The symptoms have progressed. Callie is now hunting birds without Marie's knowledge -(SPOILERS) Callie has been convinced by Mr. Grizz to hide her worsening symptoms from Marie. This could be a bad sign -(SPOILERS) Callie has become aggressive towards Deep Cut, now attacking them without hesitation. Memories have also begun to degrade -(SPOILERS) Callie has attempted to kill and eat Big Man, and this whole time has been eating salmonoids, some of which used to be her friends. Has she fully lost herself? She has separated away from the NSS, permanently for now Agent 2 (Marie Cuttlefish)

-The sassy half of the Squid Sisters and second agent of the NSS, Marie has one of the strongest wills in the Splatoon. She's wary of Callie's new quirks, but is trying not to let them drift apart again. -(SPOILERS) Marie's worst fears have been realized: Callie has been lying to her this entire time. Now she's who-knows-where. She will need to find the inner strength to keep going and rescue her cousin. Again. an octoling born in the domes. she enjoyed her time with the few friends she made, but her parents constantly moving between domes and her seeing the detoriating condition made her reject it in a teenage moment and escaped to inkopolis, changing her tentacles to blend in with the locals there. a year or so later, she stumbles onto captain cuttlefish, becoming agent 3. as an octoling. she's still fully against anything related to octavio, who she blames completely for the conditions of the domes. of course its more complicated than that but she's 14 and fighting against them. When she beats up octavio, things get complicated fast when the other octolings ask her... how best to escape. when her previous path has been blocked off. and she tries to help them. she remembers a bit of the community, and things get so much more complicated, and she's still trying to hide from cuttlefish by covering up her forehead suctions. this does wonders for her personal schedule and she dedicates herself too much to work. However, when coming across agent 8 (before the memory loss), they reunite before Something attacks them and sends them spiraling into the underground, leaving Moon alone to try and work her way out of something again. she gets taken over. captain cuttlefish learns. and after that, Moon has to deal with having free time again... and during the time of learning how to have personal hygiene and do turf wars for fun again, she falls for agent 8, Sun, once more. And then she becomes captain and at this point i'm still forming things. still trying to keep that balance, which marie and callie help with. yeah. agent 3 octoling oc!

dapplez (who was called alexi at the time) and agent 8 (who is called ezra) grew up as child soilders together. they were both present when og 3 beat up octavio the first time, and because reasons were un-brainwashed and started looking for a way to escape. eventually, they found the deep sea metro. while looking for a way in, a group of sanitised octolings attacked them and alexi kinda pushed ezra onto the train tracks to save him. there was in fact a train car pulling up behind them and ezra fell in. she got splatted and lost all her memories. all she knew was she wanted to get to the surface. after reaching the surface (because after octavio left the whole power vacumm resulted in a breakdown of octarian society) she begins working for grizz co to make ends meet. she just happened to be on shift (with a pair of dapple dualies) when mr grizz kidnapped a bunch of workers (mostly octolings who were in the same situation as her) and fuzzied them. after return of the mamalians cici (neo 3) went around feeding all the fuzzied octolings golden eggs to free them. this included the octoling now known as dapplez. she had fully lost her memories (also this is where she just. gravitated to she/her pronouns. thats how im working the trans into this) but began to learn how to person again. callie retaught her octarian!! she also ended up dating cici. enventually though, she wanted to head back to inkopolis plaza to see if that would jog any memories. train car pulls up. who's on the other side? ezra. insert side order plot but shes helping ezra

SMG: PJ is an au where several things in lore are changed, some stories are adjusted and new ones are created

in this au aspects of Splatoon's lore is more loyal as seen with the fact Meggy is Captain of the Squid Beak Splatoon and was the first Agent 3, the Splatoon Manga is also apart of the world of SMG4 as shown with Goggles and Rider being Agent 4 and 4.5 respectively and the events of the Paper Mario series are VERY much relevant with a new arc appearing named the Paper Jam arc where Mario and his old and new friends team up to stop a new evil from stealing an ancient powerful treasure capable of granting any wish among other changes

other changes include Desti surviving being stabbed but being crippled as a result of it, now needing to use crutches just so she can move

Axol also living but needing a cybernetic body because of the sheer amount of corruption zero put his original body through

the anime arc being renamed the Anime Metro arc which is just a combination of Octo Expansion and Anime island and instead of Peach banning anime, the NSS are put in an urgent new mission to find out why so many inklings have gone missing including Meggy and Marie, and Francis and Tartar teaming up

Meggy is Agent 3/Captain 3, Goggles is Agent 4, Braids is Neo Agent 3, Rider is Agent 4.5, Desti is Agent and Hachi is Agent 8.5

the events of the Splatoon Manga's version of OE are a continuation of Post-Anime Metro because Desti may have gotten amnesia during her debut

Meggy essentially got adopted by the Cuttlefishes when she was 14 and combine that with the fact Mario and her are practically siblings Meggy technically has 4 older siblings, all of whom are annoying as fuck but she loves them

yes, Meggy's hygiene is absolute shit

yes, Meggy was sanitised and now has chronic head aches that flare up if she pushes herself too far in a fight so she has to be really careful or forgo fights all together

Meggy is Team Blue's coach after Goggles asked her to help them out a bit as a favour, now she's attached to these idiots, but then again her brother is Mario and he's a dumbass so Meggy might just have some kind of idiot magnet at this point

A version of the events of Meta Runner will be involved in this continuity but i haven't really watched the series yet so that's up in the air

Mario's Partners from TTYD and the Glitchy Gang actually get along really well, Meggy and Mini-Yoshi (whose named is Giusseppe) get along like a house on fire (the aunt and nephew duo of all time), SMG4 is dragged around with Miss Mouz to do god knows what, Koops and Boopkins both like anime and get along fine, Goombella and Tari actually found an unexpected friendship with eachother, shockingly Bob and Vivian are really close (trans solidarity it seems), Flurrie gets along well with Melony surprisingly and SMG3 follows Bobbery like a loss duckling, much to the veteran's annoyance

Yes, Meggy had a bit of a stroke when she saw the amount of flirting Maryo's autisitic rizz got him into, it's fine though luigi helped her cope

Meggy hates Wireglasses with a passion

yes meggy gets dragged into Team Blue's adventures and shenanigans because she's there coach!

Meggy took a few weeks (instead of 2 days) to deal with her trauma from Western Spaghetti, meanwhile Marie and Callie blew up a museum a little bit to destroy a statue

Splatoon Mech AU Infodump

AU Overview:

The use of Zapfish quickly modernized Inkfish society prior to the Great Turf War. Inklings quickly caught up with the Octarians tentacle and Zapfish infused machines, although still lacked technological finesse. The rising sea levels and struggle for land led to the two societies clashing. Mech battles raged across the scarce land that was left. Desperate to win, the Inklings poured everything they had into one Mech: Zeus. Powered by the Great Zapfish and manned by Captain Cuttlefish; the Mech overwhelmed the opposing Octarians, and eventually King Octavio, but at a price; the power surging through Zeus caused permanent damage to both Cuttlefish and Octavio, leaving them unable to transform from humanoid and swim form freely.

As a result of the war, Mechs were outlawed. Anyone caught owning, builing or engineering one were arrested. This hasn't stopped the youth from pursuing Mech races and battles in the underground Octarian domes and hangars, however... The allure and excitement has attracted every walk of life, including former Driver Captain Cuttlefish, who seems to be looking for a young Driver for a special mission...

Mech Mechanics:

Modern mechs use motion sense technology to pilot the mechs. Inkfish attach motion sensor rings to their wrists and ankles to control the movement of their mech. A rotating arm holds the Driver in place by supporting them around their waist so they can freely move their arms and legs.

Old Tech mechs use manual inputs from levers and buttons. Usually cramped sitting conditions with lots of buttons and levers surrounding the Driver. Some have pedals in the foot bay.

Drivers will find all the action underground in the Octarian domes and hangars. These serve as the main arena for mech races and battles. These relics from the Great Turf War serve as a potent reminder of the tensions that ran between Inklings and Octarians. Thankfully relations have improved between the two factions. Occasionally, things get out of hand and end up breaching to the surface where opponents have to out manoeuvre their opposition and the law.

yes, and if we were being real I would headcanon that their lifespans would be noticeably shorter than those of humans. Most real-life cephalopods grow extremely quickly but live only about a year or two, with some small species not even living for a year. We know Inklings mature relatively slowly at a pace comparable to humans, so their lifespans are clearly pretty long, I would assume equal to that of humans as are a lot of other things in the game.

HOWEVER literally the only two old characters we have in the game just happen to BOTH BE LIKE 130 YEARS OLD. Which is a really convenient coincidence if inkfish are supposed to have human-like lifespans. I know it's likely because well it's a cartoon game it can do whatever it wants. I feel like Captain Cuttlefish and Octavio are serious outliers here and inkfish typically don't live anywhere near to even 100 years. In Octavio's case, I believe he could be artifically prolonging his lifespan with the very advanced science that Octarians have, including biotechnology, and it's something I believe they would readily do for a military general as important as he is. Cuttlefish is just like, dry and really lucky or something.

There is an alternate theory of inkfish being true indeterminate growers and actually not dying of old age at all, which isn't canon compliant because they clearly age and... also don't grow (again, Octavio is an outlier and his size is inconsistent), but it is fun if you like that sort of thing.

- Three is hyperfixated on plants because her family runs a flower shop and while she enjoys being a professional turfer rn she wants to run it one day

- Four explains the fnaf lore to Craig and he takes notes and makes a timeline and single-handedly figures out the canon timeline way faster compared to matpat

- neo 3 starts to learn salmonid after story mode because they feel like lil buddy is the only other one who knows what they went through and they wanna properly talk to them about it and let her talk to them too

- my neo 3 actually is Agent 5 of the squidbeak splatoon and is referred to as it because my Three had a breakdown over not feeling ready to be captain and shares the responsibilities with Callie and Marie so they’re still technically agent 3. I just call them Neo 3 in posts so people don’t think I’m talking about a complete oc lmao

- Eight has a major sweet tooth it’s part of the reason she bakes so much she’ll devour any candy or pastry she gets her claws on. Pearl encourages this addiction Marina does not lmao

- theyre all autistic everyone in the splatoon

- Four has sensory issues and part of the reason she loves stuffed animals is because she loves the feeling of how soft they are and when she gets overwhelmed she’ll hug whatever one she’s carrying around with her tight against her face.

- Callie is the worst person to watch horror movies with because she just yells at the main character for being stupid the whole time and tries to guess every plot twist

- besides Craig, Marie is the other half of the reason Three’s so good in battle. They both main the charger and Marie used to do sniping practice with Three before and after they knew she was Marie and not just Agent 2. Now that she’s captain they still do sniping practice but Three’s got incredible aim and almost never misses so they just use the time to talk and catch up with each other.

- one of the way Eight stims by humming music and snapping her fingers (claws rlly? My eight has claws lol). When she first got to the surface she mainly blasted off the book’s songs like into the light and fly octo fly on loop and hummed those everywhere but after being on the surface for so long she got into more music and does it with a variety of music lol

- Callie and Marie tried to take Four to wahoo world but she was too short to ride anything but the kiddie rides and they almost left because of how upset Four was till Marie threatened the workers and Callie had to bribe them to let them stay in the park and go on the rides 😭

- you already know this one you literally came up with it with me but I’m including this anyways Cus I love it, since Callie is a big fun reef squid she’s got strong enough tentacles to move them on her own like octolings can, and she primarily uses this to pick up Four and carry her around the house. Also extra limbs to cuddle with <3

- Marie bullies Eight (lovingly) for maining the clash blaster and Eight complains about it to Captain cuttlefish everytime. Three had to explain weapon meta to him so he could understand what the big deal was

- Neo 3 is obsessed with super heroes the zipcaster levels helped them connect with 3 Callie and Marie a lot more and they get way too into it everytime they did one of them

What nicknames does sbs have for each other. Like what does Callie call Marie or agent 4 and what does Marie call agent 4 Marie or agent 3?

I think SBS includes Marie Callie agent 4 3 8 Captain cuddle fish neo agent 3 but you don’t have to do all of them

Marie and Callie have a whole set of nicknames for each other, you can heard them call eachother by "Cal" or "Mar" and the in the next sentence hear "Grandma" or "Gremlin Child"

8 gives people nicknames on accident, mostly because when they first meet she didn't know how to pronunciate the names and they just stuck. "One eye green" "Yellow ball" "White short lady" "Black long lady" that kind of stuff. When she stared to understand more of the language she just didn''t think about it too much and just said words she liked "meatball" "stereo" "Umbrella" she just think they sound funny

3 isn't very good with nicknames, they don't mind if someone gives them one (except for when Marie calls them stinky) but they can't think of nothing creative

4 Likes nicknames a lot but doesn't know if they have the enough trust with the others to use them freely

Cuttlefish just calls everyone his grandkids, youngsters perhaps, he called 4 a hooligan once, now that one if for New3 only
