sorry to send another request in so soon but i loved the last one!! but i wanted to request marina gf headcannons this time(^O^)
marina my beloved... i hope she's in the next dlc for splatoon 3!
three times as much love [marina ida x reader; splatoon 2/3]
you guys kiss often, and whenever you do she gets all flustered!
she actually confessed to you, which was shocking since most thought she had a thing for pearl, which she did
pearl and her are still good friends however, and that includes you too!
you're mentioned from time to time by marina over the inkopolis news (she could gush about you to anyone!!)
during octo expansion, she loosely mentions you during her chatlogs with pearl and captain cuttlefish but doesn't really say anything to protect your identity
she's worried sick about you during the final fight!! when they all get back to inkopolis square she tackles you into a hug! crying and squeezing you with how worried she was! (good thing you don't have bones...)
you help her and pearl produce music, setting up splatfest and such
you guys watch movies during the weekends after work, getting all cozy and comfy together
she loves you, and you love her too.
"I'm so glad you're ok!!"
a/n: i'm sorry if these as romantic as you'd hope. i found it a little hard as i'm not really familiar with writing for pre-established/npc characters like marina. it's a real battle of keeping her in character in-game and being self indulgent. does that make sense? thank you for requesting, however!! i happily await for any requests i can get!

bounced this around in my brain for a few days as a coping mechanism for how the hell every inkfish in the games glows, despite photophores absolutely NOT being a structure that even near every squid has, and a structure that other cephalopods that are not squids do NOT HAVE AT ALL
I've been meaning to make a thing on the logistics of ink glowing, I think a type of bioluminescent bacteria (potentially a terrestrial evolution of Aliivibrio fischeri) evolved to have a symbiotic relationship with inkfish and they have colonies in the ink sac. compatible with every type of inkfish. So, controlling the amount of bacteria that gets deposited into the ink lets Inklings control the luminescence of their ink at will and also indirectly gives every cephalopod the ability to glow if the glowy ink is on the skin
(this post is ignoring and fighting against octolings having visible photophores. Why the fuck do they have those other than wanting to be squid sooooooo bad)

out of curiosity, who are some artists in the riordanverse fandom who you consider to be "popular" or well-known? either currently, at a particular point in the fandom, or just in general.

ok hi and lo poly versions of each braid shape now. the low poly ones are a little pointy BUT they significantly reduce the overall poly count of the braid. so if you're gonna be having a lot of small braids, or even just any amount of small (diameter, not length) braids, then lo poly is probably the way to go. If the braid is meant to be a centerpiece/object that draws attention/large chunky radius/just one braid in the whole hair, then a hi poly would be a better choice.
(these braids are the exact same length and shape, as they were both following the same exact curve, and you can see the triangle count (which should be the poly count in s4s) drop from 13k to only 3k. 13k would be pushing it for an entire hair's polycount, so its definitely still pretty demanding to put a braid in, but not as demanding as it would be to literally braid 3 strands of geometry like i've seen a bunch of tutorials demonstrating. im not even gonna try that.)

wait explain to me the destiel hatred i’m curious what abt it angers u that doesn’t apply to the other two ships
great question! the answer would unfortunately require 3 hours and a powerpoint presentation, so i will try to do a brief summary:
a ship sucking only ever has about 25% to do with the ship itself. destiel is bad in the sense that i think dean winchester is an annoying character that gets treated with kiddie gloves by the narrative, which makes him irritating to see on screen, because i personally dislike it when "men are angry and abusive because they just love too strongly, and don't know how to express it :(" is played straight as a character's primary internal conflict. especially over 15 seasons. it's boring, he's boring, and 35 year old men shouldn't be going to colleges trying to figure out which freshman girls are legal or not. hate him.
however the real sin of destiel, beyond the fact that dean winchester and i have beef that will only ever resolve when i get to reincarnate as the rusty nail that kills him, is that the fans are so so so fucking annoying. like yes the narrative frames dean as a golden boy who can either do no wrong, or "well, i guess he did wrong there, but what about how tortured he is :(" but good god. at least the show isn't trying to convince me that destiel is some groundbreaking lifechanging love story, complete with "omg this moment" montages where they romanticize scenes that feature dean either insulting, threatening, or humiliating cas. like this entire show (post season 5) is dean chronically either infantillizing and attempting to keep cas under his control, or holding him up as the only person he can rely on, thus giving cas expectations that are impossible to fulfill.
and don't get me wrong! people can like a shitty person and a fucked up ship. that's basically everything i enjoy on here. but at least like. acknowledge it. aldfkjalka. and if you're gonna like a shitty person and a fucked up ship, at least write about it in an interesting way. 90% of fic and posts written about destiel aren't even about destiel as presented in canon, they're about two generic men with generic personalities who suffer from the world's most generic tropey problems. cookie cutter ass basic relationship. the high school au of ships. boring.

I normally don't vague post about other people (and I'm not really here, even) but someone in the tag suggested that Jack would make a better Team Leader than Yusei and it made me realize something, in part, about why people think that Yusei is boring.
tl;dr: Yusei isn't boring; he was written as the MC in the wrong genre.
See, Shonen protagonists typically have the following personality traits: loud, brash, hot-headed, sometimes abrasive. Yusei is none of those things, and Jack is ALL of them. Which, I'm sure, is what led that person to say that Jack would make the better leader and what leads so many people (who are mostly only fans of Shonen anime) to say that Yusei is boring. He doesn't fit their expectations of what a Shonen protag is supposed to look like, therefore he's boring.
But the thing is, if you popped him into, say, a Slice of Life, he'd be perfectly at home (well...except for the Trademark YGO Hair anyway) and well-loved by the fan base. I can say this with fair certainty because I've at least never seen anyone say that Natsume Takashi (Natsume's Book of Friends) is boring in any way, and honestly the two of them have very similar temperaments. The difference is, obviously, the genre of their respective stories.
Slice of Life allows for its protags to be softer-spoken, more reserved; Shonen often does not.
It's time people stopped saying that Yusei is boring and just admit that they like loud, brash characters as opposed to quiet ones, and that Yusei just doesn't fit what they expect from a Shonen protagonist.
He's not boring; he was just written for the wrong genre.
